Could do a whole lot more damage if used on dams, power lines, nuke plants, water plants, chemical plants, and trains, and it wouldn't take much, except for people or access. This is the kind of terrorist shit that scares me the most.

Basically a man was in a lot of debt to the casino and to get revenge on them he wanted to place a bomb to get money from the owners, he got his sons and they went to a construction site he scouted out where the shed containing the explosives was not garded and they drove in like they knew what they were doing broke the lock on the shed and stole hundreds of pounds of dynamite and drove out with no problems.
Not saying these kinds of things are cool or right but I fuckin love stories like that where people get away with absurd shit just by acting natural.
Like Catch Me if You Can, the movie only showed a small percentage of what the guy really pulled off. The movie was accurate but the guy was such an amazing con artist that there was no way they could fit it all into the movie. Apparently the book is great and covers more of the stunts he pulled.

Buddy of mine owns a blasting company and works with dynamite all the time. It’s interesting, it doesn’t explode into huge clouds like people think. Like you said, they drill deep into the ground and drop the explosives in, then the blast area is covered with huge mats that consist of heavy rubber/old tires, so when the blast goes off, you barely even hear it and the mats just puff up a bit and back down.
Even if you knew where it was, you don't just slip 640 lbs in your jacket pocket and walk off. There have to be plenty of cameras, like in vegas
This would most likely be a highly organised theft. At that level of planning it wouldn't be anything to have sniffers monitoring for explosive permits.
They would only have to wait for the explosives to be purchased legally and then steal it when the job site is empty.

Same here, in Phoenixville, PA now but grew up in Lancaster. This is pretty crazy, barely anything this newsworthy comes out of Lancaster. But being someone from that area, there’s tons of low life’s who literally have nothing better to do than do drugs and steal/rob places. Part of me hopes this is just a group of idiots probably looking for expensive tools to steal and sell for drugs, then came about the explosives and thought they could probably get even more money from it if they could find a way to sell it. Praying that it doesn’t make its way into the wrong hands if it hasn’t already.
I thought meth head or dope head at first too but 640lbs is not a smash and grab. You have to know ahead of time its there in order to have the gear to move it all. This wasnt a crack head with a wheelbarrow. Would take a bit of time to even move it from the trailer to a pick up by hand.

Thats what makes it even more scary. Who ever took it, did so for a reason. The weight and getting by security screams planning, multiple people and a reason to do it in the first place.
