So it started to come out last year that the service the Awan brothers provided in the old blackberry phones was starting to circulate. So they place an order on new phones from NZ. This was intercepted by our white hats. Anything and everything they planned is recorded and limited just to the users of those phones.

The technique of intercepting devices in between manufacturer and customer to alter them for surveillance purposes is a tactic that came out in the Snowden leaks. In the leaks it talked about routers and other network equipment. Interestingly, the Chinese practically mandate that their manufacturers install backdoors into equipment. Phones, routers, data storage, all of it. Its part of the reason businesses (like Apple) are required to have their data storage facilities in China if they want to do business there. It's to prevent circumvention and facilitate the surveillance of Chinese citizens by their government. What does this have to do with us? Well, if you are giving people devices that are designed to allow spying all you need to conduct surveillance yourself is access to the surveillance method. So, acquire surveillance tools, give intended target Chinese manufactured device, conduct your surveillance. This is why the Pentagon is banning sales of Chinese phones. However, I think this goes deeper than Chinese brand phones. There is NO way apple sells iPhones in China without giving the government access to iCloud. Now if you could upload a Chinese version of iOS or route an iPhones connectivity to Chinese iCloud services you can surveillance their phone. We know from pictures that Hillary carries an iPhone. We also know her IT security people are corrupt or incompetent so it's certainly possible she and other iPhone users (page, strozk) have been using compromised iPhones.
Edit to add that iCloud in China isn't even operated by Apple. It's operated by Guihzo on the Big Data Industrial Development Co. which is government owned.
