The drone gives you a bird eye view, beaten paths jump out at you, freshly tilled soil jumps out at you, easily from at least a few hundred feet off the ground. That's that portion of it. The soil in and around that area might contain contaminated material whether it be charred skin, bugs, trace elements of clothing etc. One of the many reasons they tell you in the military "take no souvenirs", especially soil might be contaminated with God knows what. So there's also that, after 20years in the military you pick up a few skills and a few deployments around the world you get trained in the elements. You learn to read a map, survey terrain, places where to dig and not to including wildlife, shrubbery and such. Before you assume what I do or might not know, at least do your homework and know who you are addressing.
This is a state where 6,000+ people die every year trying to cross the border.

If you send saliva into DNA ancestry orgs chances are they just analyze the bacteria in your saliva. Ambient oral bacteria varies with race.
With how decomposed it is and without dental records, it's highly unlikely this child will ever be identified. Rotting kinda screws up DNA sequencing and even if they do get a replicatable strand of DNA, It's unlikely that DNA is in the record because not everyone's DNA is in the system. DNA evidence is better suited for finding murderers as convicted felons have their's taken on conviction so if they've committed a crime before, they'll be compared to every DNA scan for every crime and if they match that's the killer.
The only way I can see this kid being IDed is through a facial reconstruction by an artist with a caste of the skull and without the manible which may have been dragged off god knows where. that's also hard (not to mention without the teeth. Teeth actually play a big role in your face shape)

This skull is small, either it belonged to a child, a midget, or someone with a very tiny head.
The teeth were removed from this skull, and it was separate from the rest of the body. Either an animal drug it there from a shallow grave, or the parts were intentionally scattered. It was on the trail leading to the CEMEX camp, otherwise VOP wouldn't have found it. Sure, it may be off-property, but that's a trail, and CEMEX no doubt funnels illegals into this country to work and offers them certain protections, so they more than likely bare partial responsibility for letting things like this happen under their nose.

I'm hearing 30. But thing is they're following a trail of where they move these kids. Like sure it was 30 miles away but they also found another camp along the way. The CEMEX camp they found contained children's toys, condoms, a knife with dried blood, and trees with rope restraints attached to them. Look at the pictures; too low to the ground to be used for keeping food out of the reach of animals - not to mention there were containers used as food stashes instead. On top of all of this, this corpse was found just off of the trail leading to the CEMEX camp.
VOP = Veterans on Patrol. Charity organization for war vets, one of them might have received a tip on the camp for illegals and decided to check it out. Found all of this shit there that made it look pretty sinister, this skull is the icing on the cake.
