Intellibridge was a successful enterprise. Founded in 1998, the firm attracted $10 million in financing in 2001, the year Rice began working with it, and an additional $1.85 million in 2002, according to The Washington Post. The firm was planning to double its revenue in 2002 and had 140 clients already, offering them intelligence swept up through internet research and then analyzed by national security experts.

A spokesperson for Rice declined to say if she would share details of her clients if chosen to run with Biden, who will announce his selection within days.

What is ‘Spread Pricing’?

PBMs that practice spread pricing charge their sponsors/clients more for a prescription drug than what they actually pay to the pharmacies. This difference in the amount billed and the amount paid by the PBMs to the pharmacy is what makes up the revenue for them.

Question is, should there be such a huge difference in those amounts that they can make hundreds of thousands of dollars in profit? Let’s dig in deeper:

How Spread Pricing Works

Let me explain it to you with the help of an example:

Let’s say a pharmacy buys a prescription drug bottle for $5.

A patient comes and fills the prescription of that drug using their employer-provided insurance.

Now the PBM of that insurance company will pay $7 to the pharmacy to cover the cost for the pills, allowing the pharmacy to bank $2 as profit.

The PBM will then also bill the employer for the pills, $14 in this example.

The difference in what the PBM paid the pharmacy and what it billed the employer is the ‘spread’ which remains with the PBM.

This way the PBM ends up making a significant profit through spread pricing.

Generic Drugs and Spread Pricinghigh drug prices are making healthcare unaffordable

90% of all prescriptions dispensed in the U.S are generic drugs, and unfortunately, they are also the ones most affected with spread pricing. Generic pills are quite cheap when compared to their brand name versions, but because of the big spreads, their prices are now also increasing.

Spread Pricing Results in Higher Consumer Costs

Spread pricing is mostly understood by health planners and brokers. Employees and consumers paying health bills were mostly unaware of this practice until now.

Spread pricing has a significant impact on health plan costs. It is one of the main reasons why prescription drug prices are getting so expensive.

“In an analysis of pharmacy and middleman markups in Medicaid plans around the country, Bloomberg found big spreads on dozens of drugs, and evidence that the spreads are growing. For many widely used generic drugs, state insurance plans are collectively paying millions of dollars in fees to private companies.”

Clearly spread pricing results in higher consumer costs.

PBM Pricing Practices Have Generated Lawsuits

UnitedHealth Group’s PBM, OptumRx has been accused by four hundred independent pharmacies for manipulating its generic drug price lists to fill its pockets.

In July of 2017, West Virginia cut out PBMs, including Express Scripts and CVS, from its Medicaid managed-care program. According to a state spokeswoman, they expect to save $30 million a year by running the program themselves. Eliminating spreads and reducing administrative costs helped them save about 4 percent of the state Medicaid drug spending.

Also in June 2018, Pennsylvania’s auditor general reviewed PBM practices in that state’s Medicaid program and cited a lack of oversight into how they determine prices.

Despite the criticism and public awareness, the PBMS are still not putting an end to this spread pricing practice. Although it has been a common practice in the PBM marketplace for years, the impact on costs and quality of care is now more significant.

“The PBMs have found they can do it and get away with it,” says Stephen Schondelmeyer, a professor of pharmaceutical economics at the University of Minnesota. “The way that spread pricing is being done these days, generics don’t always save you money.

Lebanon Revisits Mystery Death of Colonel After Urging Removal of Combustibles from Port of Beirut

Col. Joseph Skaf, former chief of drug control for the Lebanese customs agency, wrote a letter in 2014 warning that a cargo of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate seized from a Russian-owned ship the previous year at the Port of Beirut was “highly dangerous and constitutes a threat to public safety.” Skaf died under cloudy circumstances in 2017, while the cargo he warned about evidently detonated on Tuesday, causing over a hundred deaths and wiping out a sizable portion of the city.

Skaf’s 2014 letter specifically referred to MV Rhosus, the cargo ship filled with ammonium nitrate that was detained in Beirut on its way to Mozambique in 2013. The substance is purchased in bulk for use as fertilizer, but is also highly explosive and prized by terrorists – from Lebanon’s Hezbollah to the Oklahoma City bomber in 1995 – as bomb-making material. There is some confusion about exactly what happened to the ammonium nitrate, but as of 2014, Skaf’s letter stated it was still on board the Rhosus, which was impounded by the Lebanese government for safety and mechanical issues. The ship’s cargo – and, for a time, the crew – were kept in Beirut to pressure the owner, Russian businessman Igor Grechushkin, into paying the ship’s fees. Skaf is one of several Lebanese officials who went on the record saying this was a bad idea, and in any event it did not work, because Grechushkin declared bankruptcy after the ship was seized. Some government sources in Lebanon have expressed surprise over the past few days that the ammonium nitrate cargo was not auctioned off during the past six years, or distributed to Lebanese farmers for use as fertilizer.

The Saudi network Al-Arabiya on Friday found Skaf’s fate suspicious, without explicitly accusing anyone of bumping him off to silence his warnings about the ammonium nitrate stockpile: Skaf died in 2017, but the cause of death wasn’t determined definitively as there were two conflicting autopsy reports. Major Lebanese newspaper an-Nahar reported at the time: “Did the retired Colonel Joseph Skaf’s foot slip or was he thrown off a height of three meters? A question which remains unresolved, especially after the two contradictory forensic reports commissioned by the Public Prosecution from two medical examiners,” citing a source in Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces (ISF). In the past few months, four bills have been introduced in Congress calling for transparency in prescription drug pricing. These bills—HR 1038, HR 1316, S.3308 and, earlier this week, one called C-THRU—largely concern pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), a heretofore largely unrecognized component of the pharmaceutical industry.

••PBMs quietly became an integral part of the pharmaceutical supply chain—that is, the path a drug takes from the manufacturing facility to a bathroom medicine cabinet—following the passage of the Medicare Modernization Act in 2003. In recent years, PBMs have become a cause for alarm because, these bills allege, they drive up drug prices and interfere with patients' access to medications. In 2015, Express Scripts, the largest PBM-only company in the U.S., reported a profit of more than $660 million, from sales exceeding $25 billion.

But even as drug prices and access have become increasingly at the mercy of PBMs, how they operate has remained mostly hidden. Earlier this year, Community Oncology Alliance, an advocacy organization for community-based cancer care practices, commissioned a report exposing how PBMs work and the damage they are causing. Newsweek spoke with COA Executive Director Ted Okon about what many health care experts believe is Big Pharma's latest villain.

What are PBMs and how did they originate?

PBMs arose in the early 2000s, after the Medicare Modernization Act was passed into law in 2003. MMA included the creation of Medicare Part D, which handles benefits associated with prescription drugs. PBMs are companies that fulfilled a need created byPart D: a middleman between the insurer, including Medicare, and the pharmacy. The idea behind PBMs was that they could identify eligible patients, reduce the administrative burden on the benefits provider and negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical manufacturers. Keeping this intermediary role in the private sector was supposed to help with all this.

Some thoughts that have been percolating since yesterday’s POTUS presser, in no particular order of importance:

POTUS’ plan to defer payroll taxes is a win-win for his re-election efforts. If the DS do nothing to challenge him, Trump owns one of the biggest aid packages to the American people since this scamdemic began. There’s no way Nervous Nancy or Cryin’ Chuck can spin it any other way to damage the President or make him look like he doesn’t care about the American people. If they do decide to challenge him by taking him to court for whatever the reason is, Trump has a big hammer to bludgeon them with leading up to the election: “They only care about scoring political points. That’s why they couldn’t pass a relief package. I, President Trump, can’t sit idly by and let Americans continue to suffer. That’s why they’re trying to stop me from giving you back your money!” You get the point.

There is one caveat to the above plan. After the election, Trump needs to make the deferral permanent or Americans are going to be rudely awaken come tax day 2021. Deferral doesn’t mean you don’t pay altogether. It means you don’t pay now (see the deferral of the 2019 tax day from April to July of this year). I hope Trump knows this, and is counting on winning back the House and keeping the Senate to get a tax package passed early 2021 to make the deferral permanent. Otherwise, come tax day 2021, Americans are going to find that they owe hundreds or thousands of dollars instead of getting a tax return.

Backdating the referral to July 1, 2020 may be laying the groundwork for a future EO. This is speculation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if closer to the election, Trump used this as precedent to issue another EO deferring payroll taxes all the way back to the beginning of 2020. Again, it would be a win-win strategy for Trump. Give people back their money, giving them a shot in the arm and a boost in the economy before Nov. 3. Or, force the DS to challenge it in court and show how they don’t care about the welfare of Americans, only money and power.

I’ve said in the past that I do not expect any arrests before the election (Yes, I know arrests have occurred of low- to mid-level scum. I’m referring to high level arrests like Clinton, Obama, Soros, etc.) I really hope I’m wrong. To secure the election, POTUS needs to drop the hammer on at least the Soros group, to include social media. Take their money and influence off the table leading into the election to ensure vote manipulation is tamp down below any danger level. Bonus if they snag the Clintons and Obamas, but at the very least, Soros needs to go before the election. If not to stop the vote manipulation, to stop the Antifa insurrection after the election (ala what happened in Nov 2017 when the Left’s “Day of Rage” fizzled out when the Saudi Royal Family was suddenly arrested).

Finally, speaking of Antifa and its subsidiaries, I suspect the reason why things appear to be quieting down with this front before the election is two-fold. First, the Left is realizing their scare tactics aren’t working like they thought. Public opinion is swinging against the Left because of their support of the violence, destruction, and defunding/handcuffing the police. Second, with the surprise arrests we’ve seen where Federal agents swoop in unmarked vans to snatch an Antifa bastard/bitch off the street, I think the group is hurting for street leadership. I would suspect those nabbed were more of the street level organizers that received training. So, now Antifa is quieting down to a) conserve what leadership they have left, and b) train up a new batch in preparation for what is sure to come after Trump wins re-election on Nov. 3. Hopefully Trump has a plan for this, and hopefully it involves arresting Soros before the election to stop the money flow into Antifa.

That’s just my two cents.

Rioters threw paint on an elderly woman and harrassed another trying to put out a fire at Portland’s East Precinct on Thursday. “Once again, the Portland Police Department was forced to declare a supposed protest an ‘unlawful assembly’ after assessing that the intent of the rioters was ‘to vandalize or attempt to burn down the precinct,'” according to the Daily Wire. The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) on Friday shared a photo of an elderly woman wearing an orange jacket outside the precinct, whom protesters had doused in white paint. However, the PPB wrote in a later tweet that it was not the woman in the photo who had a walker, but the other woman at the scene who tried to put out the fire rioters lit in a garbage can.

“Put your mask on, bitch. Put your mask on,” someone in the crowd yelled at her as she conversed with another man. Portland Tribune reporter Zane Sparling shared video footage of the elderly woman with the walker outside the East Precinct as a rioter bashed what appeared to be a can of paint into a wooden barrier. Ngô later tweeted a video of the woman as she tried to put out the garbage can fire. “Just let her do it. Let her do it,” someone in the crowd told the protester standing between the woman and the can, adding, “It’s the highlight of her life.” In a press release Friday, the PPB said rioters used the thank you notes on blue hearts that community members had placed on the front of the precinct to accelerate the flames. The release continued: An elderly community member came forward in an attempt to extinguish the fire. As she did this, group members stood in her way. As the group attempted to keep the fire ignited, several others in the group shined lasers at the security cameras affixed to East Precinct and continued tagging the building with graffiti. Shortly after, PPB with the help of OSP [Oregon State Police] began dispersing the crowd. As officers dispersed the crowd, they were hit with projectiles ranging from glass bottles to heavy rocks. Large rebar ties were thrown into the street with the intention of popping police vehicle tires. Several police vehicles ran over these ties which caused damage to tires. While officers dispersed the crowd, several custodies were taken.

“Several arrests were made during the event outside of East Precinct, including an individual who had a loaded handgun on their person,” the PPB noted. On Friday morning, Ngô shared photos of the rebar ties used to damage police vehicles’ tires. As speculation reaches a fever pitch over the fate of TikTok, a photo has surfaced showing top executives posing with party members and a communist flag inside the parent company's headquarters in Beijing — making the close ties between the corporation and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) abundantly clear.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump is giving Microsoft until Sept. 15 to reach a deal to purchase short-video app TikTok from its Chinese owner ByteDance before banning the app from the U.S.

On Wednesday, human rights activist Jennifer Zeng posted on Twitter a photo of a CCP event held inside the corporate headquarters of ByteDance in Beijing's Haidian District, showing employees and CCP members holding a communist banner. The photo originates from a report on a similar CCP event held at the headquarters last July.

The event was held by the CCP branch of the Information and Communication Department and the Haidian District Overseas Chinese Federation (HCTF) and was titled, "Never forget the original intention, remember the mission, and promote the new era of Overseas Chinese Federation information communication work."

During the event, the company's technical staff explained in detail to CCP members TikTok's video operation mechanism, including its ability to harvest massive amounts of data, carrying out in-depth data mining, and analyzing user behavior. Feng Kaixu (封開許), deputy secretary of the Party committee and deputy editor-in-chief of ByteDance, also introduced the company's business and "party-building work."

Shi Yue (石岳), secretary of the CCP branch of Haidian District Overseas Chinese Federation, introduced the federation and its promotional work. Zuo Zhiqiang (左志強), secretary of the CCP branch of the Information Communication Department, talked about the purpose of the department's research.

Zuo then emphasized the study and implementation of Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping’s (習近平) new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics as the main education theme. Zeng told Taiwan News that this was all party talk to "preserve the CCP's power and promote CCP's model to the world."

Both U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and White House trade adviser Peter Navarro have accused Chinese companies such as TikTok of passing on user data to the Chinese government, but TikTok has denied this. In October 2019, in response to the call for an investigation from U.S. senators, TikTok issued a statement in which it wrote: We have never been asked by the Chinese government to remove any content and we would not do so if asked. Period."

But in reality, TikTok or Douyin, like its parent company ByteDance, are shackled by a number of draconian security laws. The National Security Law implemented by the CCP in 2015, as well as the National Intelligence Law and the Cybersecurity Law implemented in 2017, call on companies to spread information on the internet that is beneficial to the CCP.

All Chinese companies, public or private, are required to have a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CPP) to hand down official party edicts. In addition, many companies, have an internal CCP committee that comprises part of the governance structure.

ByteDance has had a party committee since 2017 and is headed by CCP secretary and company editor-in-chief Zhang Fuping (張輔評), reported Human Rights Watch. Members of the committee hold regular gatherings at which they study speeches by Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping (習近平) and "pledge to follow the party in technological innovation."

In addition, ByteDance on April 25, 2019, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Public Security's Press and Publicity Bureau (公安部新聞宣傳局) in Beijing. So there was a huge purge yesterday. In my case, I have an old Twatter account and never provided a phone number. I use it only on a computer. I won't install it on a cellphone. Instead of telling me I broke some rule, they restricted my account saying they noticed "suspcious behavior" and suspected the account "may have been hacked". I wasn't outright banned, but they won't let me login unless I provide a phone number. I'm in the process of appealing this and told them I only have a landline, so there's no way they can verify via text message. We'll see if that works.

In any case, when I looked at my profile, my FOLLOWING number was reset at zero. I didn't lost my less than 100 followers, I lost the entire list of who I was following. They must be restricting or banning en masse the followers of the big Q accounts now.

I made another account using an email and within 24 hours, they did the same thing, since I didn't/won't give a phone number.

If you have a small account and are (so far) being left alone, my suggestions to you are:

1) Make a written or typed list of the Twitter handles of the people you follow, and then UNFOLLOW them. Visit their profiles daily.

2) Don't Retweet anything from anyone. Just copy and paste what the other person did. Make a slight change to the text.

3) For words that might trigger Twitter censors that aren't part of a URL, do things like use zero instead of the letter O, the number 3 for the letter E, the letter V for the letter U, etc.

For now, we'll see if I get my original account back. If not, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get around the phone number thing?

It encourages us in this battle against the forces of evil to face our fears head-on. No enemy on earth is stronger than the united forces of God-fearing, freedom-loving people. We can no longer pretend that these dark forces are going to go away by mere prayer alone. Prayers matter, but action is required. This action is needed at the local, state and federal levels. Action is also required in the economic, media, clerical and ecclesiastical realms. Decide how you can act within your abilities. Stand up and state your beliefs. Be proud of who you are and what you stand for. And face, head-on, those community “leaders” who are willing to allow dark forces to go beyond peaceful protests and destroy and violate your safety and security.

Churches and houses of worship must return to normal. We invite everyone of goodwill to not shirk their responsibilities and instead act in a fraternal fashion. If for no other reason or with no other ability, act in a spirit of charity. We cannot disrespect or disregard natural law along with our own religious liberties and freedoms. I am witnessing elderly people lose their connection to all that is good in their lives: connections to their faith, their families and their individual freedoms, especially the simple act of attending church, something they’ve been doing for decades. Let us not be intimidated or fear those who cry out that we are in the minority; we are not. Good is always more powerful and will prevail over evil. However, evil will succeed for a time when good people are divided from each other and their personal lives — children away from their teachers, preachers from their congregations, customers from their local businesses.

America will never give in to evil. Americans work together to solve problems. We do not and should not ever allow anarchy and the evil forces behind it to operate on any street in our nation. No one should have to fear for their very life because some dark, disturbed force is challenged by the very essence of what America stands for. We are “one nation under God” and it is our individual liberties that make us strong, not liberties given to our government. Our government has no liberty unless and until “we the people” say so. God bless America and let’s stand by everything that was and is good in our lives, in our communities and in our country. Otherwise, America as the true North Star for humanity will cease to exist as we know it.

Agents are calling the tunnel "the most sophisticated [drug] tunnel in U.S. history" after finding a rail cart system, ventilation ducts, electrical wiring, and water lines, along with extensive wall reinforcements.

"This appears to be the most sophisticated tunnel in U.S. history, and certainly the most sophisticated I've seen in my career," said Carl E. Landrum, acting chief patrol agent with the Border Patrol's Yuma Sector.

The tunnel is 3 feet wide and 4 feet high and runs from a Mexican neighborhood to San Luis, Arizona.

"Homeland Security Investigations and our esteemed law enforcement partners swiftly and effectively worked together to uncover and dismantle a cross-border tunnel for smuggling purposes into the United States," said Scott Brown, HSI special agent in charge in Phoenix.

On July 27, with the help of federal partners, border patrol agents began drilling near the sinkhole. During the drilling, pieces of wood and water hoses were found underground. Agents also noticed what appeared to be a void below.

A specialized camera was then deployed 25 feet underground to investigate the gap, and agents discovered the tunnel.

Federal Judge Files Request Seeking Assange's Help in Seth Rich Case

A United States federal judge is seeking access to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange — currently in jail in the United Kingdom — for his testimony in a civil suit involving Fox News and the family of the late Seth Rich, a former Democratic National Committee staff member.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn made the request to the British courts in a filing Wednesday, according to a copy obtained by Just the News.

The civil suit at the center of the request was originally brought by Joel and Mary Rich, the parents of Seth, against Fox News over an article linking their son to Assange and WikiLeaks.

Although it was dismissed in 2018, the lawsuit was reinstated by an appeals court. Fox News eventually retracted the article.

If the judge’s request is accepted, Assange could be asked 20 questions listed in the legal document, including several relating to Seth Rich, 27, who was shot to death in Washington, D.C., on July 10, 2016.

No one has been arrested in that case.

In London, Assange is battling extradition to the United States on espionage charges that he unlawfully published names of classified sources connected to the U.S. government a decade ago.

British police arrested Assange in April 2019 after the South American nation of Ecuador revoked the political asylum it had given him for nearly seven years.

Assange originally skipped bail in the U.K. while waiting to be extradited to Sweden to face sexual assault accusations, and he hid for almost seven years inside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.

Meanwhile, while police think the killing of Seth Rich was an armed robbery gone wrong, some theories claim Rich was targeted for his alleged involvement in sensitive political leaks.

Rich is speculated by some to have been at the center of Democratic National Committee email leaks that rocked the 2016 election.

WikiLeaks took a heavy interest in the killing, offering $130,000 for information about the death of Rich.

Buffett buys back record $5.1 billion in Berkshire stock as chinavirus hits operating earnings

Berkshire Hathaway announced on Saturday it bought back a record amount of its own stock during the second quarter as the coronavirus pandemic dented operations for Warren Buffett’s conglomerate. The company said it repurchased $5.1 billion worth in stock in May and June. Berkshire repurchased more than $4.6 billion of its Class B stock and about $486.6 million in Class A shares.

She also admitted to knowingly entering the United States illegally at a place other than a designated port of entry with the purpose of visiting a friend in San Francisco, California. 97,000 kids test positive for COVID-19 in two weeks, report says

Nearly 100,000 children tested positive for the coronavirus in the last two weeks of July, a new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics finds. Just over 97,000 children tested positive for the coronavirus from July 16 to July 30, according to the association.

Out of almost 5 million reported COVID-19 cases in the U.S., CBS News' Michael George reports that the group found that more than 338,000 were children.

Vanderbilt University's Dr. Tina Hartert hopes increased testing of children will help determine what role they play in transmission, as school districts around the country return to some form of school. She is leading a government-funded study that saw DIY testing kits sent to some 2,000 families.

"The kits are shipped to the families, they are taught how to collect these samples, and then the samples are sent back by the families to a central repository," she said.

In New York City, home to the nation's largest school district, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a return to in-person schooling in the fall and pledged officials "have worked incessantly to get this right."

"They've looked at examples from all over the world of what will keep the school community safe, and they've made a series of choices of how to do things from the health and safety lens first, while also making sure we can educate our kids," he said in a Friday press conference.

De Blasio gave parents until Friday night to register students for in-person instruction, remote learning or a hybrid.

More than 25 children died of the coronavirus in July alone. Pressure to get kids back into the classroom has left superintendents in more than 13,000 different school districts across the country to figure out how to keep children safe amid a myriad of public health advisories, and handle learning differences.

Niles, Michigan Superintendent Dan Applegate is hoping Plexiglas could be a solution for children with speech impediments to be able to participate in class.

He demonstrated by speaking behind a transparent slate at a press conference.

"As I'm sitting here and I can articulate," Applegate said. "The student on the other side will be wearing a mask. Then I can put my mask on, and that student can drop their mask and articulate as well."

Indiana's Lawrence Township is cleaning school buses with a hospital-grade disinfectant spray for students still needing rides to school.

"You're going to see a very clean and disinfected bus," Transportation Director Matt Miles said. "We actually have fogging machines."

However, they are not expecting many students to get on the bus — 35% of children in the area are expected to learn remotely, while other school districts in the U.S. will not open at all.

We’re nearing the most recent deadline the Biden campaign has set for a Vice Presidential pick, and there is speculation now that the choice has been made.

Susan Rice is an investor and director at Netflix, the top video streaming service in the U.S., and part of her deal with the company was stock options that she has now apparently decided to exercise. That tidbit broke yesterday. This comes via Allahpundit over at HotAir.

Not to read too much into the tea leaves here, but this appears to be the first time she has exercised her options since joining the Netflix board a couple years ago. Again, this was pursuant to a trading plan, so set before today.

This is by no means a surefire tell that Rice has the nod. However, a quick look at her Wikipedia page history shows that there’s been a lot of activity to clean it up. I’ve mentioned in the past how the open-source encyclopedia can be a big tell, though up until recently Kamala Harris’ page was being furiously edited by a single account, indicating someone out there thought she needed to be presented in the best possible light.

Rice’s Netflix divesting could be a sign she got the nod, but it could also be a sign she’s ready to move on to something else. What is curious though is the timing along with the clean-up of her Wikipedia page. It’s been more active than Harris’.

General Flynn is not calling for violence, but what he is calling for is to look where you live, call out those things that don't uphold the constitution, rule of law, etc. How can it be done, using your voice at city/town meetings, write an opinion piece in your local paper, use social media to spread the information, there are local forums, put it out there, ask probing questions, get people thinking, questioning and looking for answers. You would be surprised how asking few simple questions people hadn't thought about before makes them look for the answers. Some will look with the idea that they are going to prove there is nothing to see, and then they find out there is moar than meets the eyes.
