I know this is old news to some, but I figure it'll be new to a few anons. With the ship container vid going around I figured I should share.

The Wire is considered by many to be the greatest tv show of all time. Each season has a different focus on urban America, but Season 2 (aired 2003) may have the most relevant subject:

The de-industrialization of American and Human Trafficking, with high ranking F_I officials involved.

-The second season, along with its ongoing examination of the drug problem and its effect on the urban poor, examines the plight of the blue-collar urban working class as exemplified by stevedores in the city port, as some of them get caught up in smuggling drugs and other contraband inside the shipping containers that pass through their port.

When thirteen unidentified young women are found dead in a container at the docks, McNulty successfully makes a spiteful effort to place the murders within the jurisdiction of his former commander

Life for the blue-collar men of the port is increasingly hard and work is scarce. As union leader, Sobotka has taken it on himself to reinvigorate the port by lobbying politicians to support much-needed infrastructure improvement initiatives. Lacking the funds needed for this kind of influence, Sobotka has become involved with a smuggling ring(human trafficking via shipping containers arriving at the port). Around him, his son and nephew also turn to crime, as they have few other opportunities to earn money. It becomes clear to the Sobotka detail that the dead girls are related to their investigation, as they were in a container that was supposed to be smuggled through the port. They again use wiretaps to infiltrate the crime ring and slowly work their way up the chain towards The Greek, the mysterious man in charge. But Valchek, upset that their focus has moved beyond Sobotka, gets the FBI involved. The Greek has a mole inside the FBI and starts severing his ties to Baltimore when he learns about the investigation.

I have used this method quite effectively with just asking questions, on certain posts in local forums and ssm. The first ones to reply usually are very quick to not actually answer the questions. Re affirm that questions and ask again for the answer, with copy of the original post and response. Wait because when it is seen that the questions were not answered it does get people fired up. Real Clear Politics Co-Founder: Pollster Says ‘Shy Trump Effect’ Higher Than 2016

Tom Bevan, president and co-founder of Real Clear Politics (RCP), discussed polling for the upcoming presidential election during a Friday night “The Ingraham Angle” segment on Fox News.

As presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden continues to lead President Donald Trump in RCP’s average polling, albeit by less hefty margins than a month ago, Bevan and Fox News host Laura Ingraham talked about the possibility of Trump voters being hesitant to declare their support for the president.

“Tom, everyone is asking me this question and I go travel, I meet people, they say, ‘Are people afraid to say what they think? Are the polls overstating support for Democrats again?’ What is your sense given what we’re seeing now?” Ingraham asked.

“Well it’s hard to say,” Bevan responded. “I talked to Robert Cahaly who’s a pollster for The Trafalgar Group. He released a poll in Michigan not too long ago and he said he’s seeing that shy Trump effect, the official name is social desirability bias and it’s when respondents don’t want to tell posters exactly what they think. He’s seeing that, he said more this time around than last time around.”

“He said he’s also finding some Trump supporters who are hidden in the undecided vote,” Bevan continued. “They just will tell pollsters that they’re undecided even when they’re really not. When you push them and say if the election were today, who would you vote for and they say well they’re supporting Trump.”

The RCP co-founder explained that it’s “hard to get a handle” on the extent of that support and how it affects polling in the battleground states.

“And again, the Trump campaign, if you talk to them they say they are very competitive in these states and even leading in their private polling,” Bevan said. “Now they’re modeling a different electorate, clearly, they are counting on different folks to be turning out election day than what the public pollsters are. So we will see who is right and who was wrong when the ultimate poll is taken on election day.”

Bevan and Ingraham discussed Trump shrinking Biden’s lead in Michigan, which currently stands at around 10 points, and what to make of the Trump campaign stopping advertising buys.

“I wouldn’t read too much into it at this point, the advertising aspect of this,” Bevan said. “But clearly, Michigan is a state that the Trump campaign feels is very much in play and they are going to continue to contest it until election day.”

New rules released this morning by Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius say that HMOs must spend 80% (if they are for an individual) or 85% (for a group) of all premium dollars, net of taxes, on health care. So if you pay $15,000 a year for your family's coverage, on average $12,000 must go to doctors, pharmacies, hospitals or for other care. The rest can be spent on insurance company marketing, overhead and profits. If these so-called Medical Loss Ratios, or MLRs, are less than 80% or 85%, HMOs must provide a refund to their plan members. Sebelius estimates that 9 million people will get refunds based on the MLR rules next year.

It's no mystery why this idea became part of health reform. In many markets, and for many types of plans, HMOs were keeping as much as 30% of the premium dollars. Talk about waste.

LANSING — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer traveled to Delaware last weekend to meet with Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee’s first known in-person session with a potential running mate as he nears a decision.

Whitmer visited Biden Sunday, according to two high-ranking Michigan Democrats who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. The first-term governor of the battleground state has long been on his short list of possible running mates.

Flight records show a chartered plane left Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport for Delaware Coastal Airport at 5:33 p.m. and returned at 11:16 p.m.

The governor’s office declined to confirm or deny the trip.

“We don’t discuss her personal schedule,” spokeswoman Tiffany Brown said.

Biden’s campaign declined to comment.
