Step By Step Baking

Let's do a pratical baking session this evening.

 

It's an informal and fun class, feel free to ask questions, shout if or when you're stuck and remember, there are no dumb questions, ever.

There's usually plenty of flour flying around so feel free to mess up.

 

One of our bakers usually instructs, (m'self tonight), while the other bakers are in-thread

and answering the Q&As. So feel free to ask any questions about anything

regarding baking, even if you're not learing to bake today.

Thank you Freebaker & Rusty the BO, and to all the bakers who give there time to help here.

 

Here's what we'll be doing in this video and slide series -

 

MODULE 1 - BAKING

 

In this module we'll be showing you step-by-step how to make a thread -

Step 1. Getting the most recent version of the dough

Step 2. Copying and pasting it into your text editor

Step 3. Making a new thread and posting it

Step 4. Making a new pastebin and posting it

Step 5. Telling anons where the Fresh Bread is

 

By the end of Module 1 you will -

  1. Have all the knowledge you need to make a thread

  2. Have made your own thread/s in /comms/, the baking practice kitchen

can be pretty hairy first time

but i was lucky - it was Chongqing drop in middle of the night

(i think every single anon there said hello to q,

and that was like 25 posts - bred sped up to about 6 posts a minute, kek. so not too bad.)

FIND THE CURRENT DOUGH

 

The first step after you agree to bake is to find the most recent version of the dough.

Or.. as we say, 'grab the dough'.

 

The dough is always found in the current general thread.

It's the last bakers post, has a Pastebin link and is usually marked 'DOUGH'

UK bread is a different animal, I baked the current #19 on 7/13. The hard part is the older bread drops off rather fast so my best bet is to do a list of the old breads from GermanArchiveAnon so the notables aren't too buried. ends up like this:

Yo wat up. Hello and hola. I baked 3 today, nuttin' compared to some of these daily marathoners tho. kek. Was great bakes today. New thread created so fast! Like it did for a few brief moments recently. Almost don't expect it to load, head right over to new catalog page and keep refreshing as fast as possible (usually, not today!). Today, just loaded so fast, was nice. Heavy shillery, but I mostly ignored. Anons either ignore or tell 'em to f off, or that it's a slide and move right along. There was a big push for the bomb video without sauce. Related to Beirut. It got debunked rather quickly. Was a good day.

STEP 2

COPY THE CURRENT DOUGH

 

Let's now copy the current dough from the pastebin.

Details on the slide and video.

 

  • Click 'raw' first. This gives you a copy without formatting.

  • Select and 'copy' all the text in the box.

 

  • Note the 2 browser windows open, the current bread and the pastebin dough link.

It's a good idea to keep your windows tidy and not have too many open.

i tend to check in w/current baker if i know they would be receptive. if baker is more 'standalone', only check in if offering handoff. Would be friendly with anyone, but some bakers (mostly spot bakers) prefer strict anonymity and baking alone. Which is fine - we got some great spot bakers who tend to show up at just the right time.

PASTE IT ALL INTO A TEXT EDITOR, OR EDIT STRAIGHT INTO PASTEBIN

 

Paste the dough into a text editor on your 'puter.

Use notepad or notepad++ (free download).

 

Orโ€ฆ ANOTHER METHOD -

When you open the dough paste in pastebin.com, just click 'clone'.

This creates a cloned dough you can add your notables into.

 

You will enter new Q posts and notables to the text doc, or the cloned pastebin doc.

Whatever you prefer.

Really glad i baked on /qrb/, /qanonresearch/ and /qrbunker/. Why? bc they were all relatively shill-free. That's when i figured out that the worst of the reeeeee's about namefagging and famefagging - and all of the WHINING about everything else - was from shills. Anons have preferences too but few dramatize them the way that shills do.

TRIM YOUR DOUGH - REDUCE THE NOTABLES SECTION

 

Once you've 'grabbed the dough', the next step is to prepare it.

We will now cut the Notables Section down to make it a postable size.

The maximum size of one post is 4700 characters, so we'll make sure Notables is under 100 lines.

MAKE SPACE FOR YOUR NEW NOTABLES

 

Let's make a space for your new notables to go into.

Check the video for a simple explain.

 

It's good practice to double and tripple check that you're listing them under correct thread number.

Run down the previous batches to check the numbering and check the current thread number that they match.

CREATE A NEW THREAD

 

When live baking, at around 650 - 670 posts, create a new thread.

If it's busy, start at 630 - 650 posts.

Bake earlier rather than later.

 

Tell the group you areBaking

Or post the Notables Bun

This assures everyone that there's a baker.

 

Open the Catalog in a new window.

Click 'Create a thread'.

Follow the steps in the slides & video.

TIMING

 

This slide gives an idea on timing, and the sequence we generally make when baking.

Note that with timing, all bakers are different and all shifts are different.

Play it by ear and find your own timing.

 

If Q posts and it's day or evening shift (busy), or if there are issues with the board, you may want to start baking at 630 posts.

 

If it's a slower bread for instance graveyard, you could start baking at 700 - 720.

It all depends, and one of the skills you'll learn while baking is timing.

Bakers are constantly working on getting their timing bang on, so don't worry if you're early or late, we all are sometimes.

That's how I ended up doing #13036. I started collecting notes thinking another baker was going to show soon and suddenly post count was way up there so I went a baked. think it's in part bc core gp has been around a long time. So when shills say 'baker's union,' nobody believes 'em.

last year, when fj attacked bakers, it was harder, coz anons didn't know what was really true, didn't know fj, and nobody really wants to fight directly with BO (might get banned or do worse things - to board).

Seems a bit awkward at first but it's just doing a bit of updating, posting the pieces in order, posting a fresh bread marker in the old bread if there's time. Practice taking notes while bred is in progress, it'll help you up your speed. You'll also get to where shill posts are a blur, you can just speed right past them and you will get better at recognizing more important posts. Also a way to help bakers in a pinch.

I started baking on QRB. Was getting up my nerve to bake on 8chan, right about the time TSHTF and ended up hanging out in the bunker. Was taking notes there and then one day no baker, so my baking began there. Wasโ€ฆ like june or july of 2019? Then, somehow ended up on endchan, right before 8kun started up. I remember an early bred I baked, started at night at like 9 pm or so after working all day, on QRB. Breds move real slow. Was determined to finish, because I needed the experience with an actual bred, not a practice. So it must have been f88 that did not want the updated Previous Notables I did when notetaking that night. I went up through, grabbed the post numbers for the ones at the ends of the notables lists, udated and posted. Repsonse I got was like "I'm not taking that shit" and I tried to figure out why not, correct numbers. Yea, same name. Wasn't too long before 8chan went down for real, that I started baking on QRB, started out just taking notes. It had to be a month or 2 after 8kun started back up. I began taking notes to catch up to speed. Things were fairly smooth at that time. I remember thinking I'll never figure out how to bake in this chaos or keep up with the speed. Bakers are often hard-headed individuals - which allows them to bake despite shills attacks - but if baker starts seeing all forms of input as either irrelevant (want to do it 'their way' when too inexperienced) or an attack on the kitch, what can you do?

That baker knows enough to bake properly at this point, which is a big step forward. if attitude can change, he could be a proficient baker. I would hand off to him (and DID hand off that night!). But perhaps conditionally, like baker partnership. Actually a good way for any new baker to transition from practicing to a real bake.

Attitude can sometimes be the toughest thing of all, tho.

I'm trying to figure out a way to collect notables, which could then get shown on another website.

I can't host my own, but hopefully someone else is willing to do so.

 

Anyway, I want to detect notables based on the very first posts of the thread creator. I take the links to previous posts, and mark these as notables. I would then archive files of these posts and would be able to output the notables (text + attachments including links the the threads).

 

Now my main question:

Let's say the links inside the first few posts are broken, what happens in this case? Is Board Owner able to fix them (edit them) in retrospect?

 

I guess even if one thread has broken notables, I could still get them from the follow-up thread.

 

This way we would even get notables for all threads, not just the General.

Do I need an account to use qanonbin.com?

No. Any baker can use it, either anonymously or with a baker nickname.

A unique ID (UID) is generated for each paste; user can also add a tripcode (optional).

How to make a new q-bin paste:

Copy entire dough from text editor, upload to qanonbin.com, select New Paste, paste in dough, fill in title ("new paste:"), and select SAVE.

How to download a q-bin paste from previous baker:

Copy qanonbin link in Dough post at top of bread into browser window; Select RAW; copy-paste text into text editor like Notepad++.
