Pentagon IDs Airman Who Died in Kuwait Military Vehicle Accident

 

A U.S. service member has died in a non-combat incident at an air base in Kuwait.

 

The Pentagon on Sunday said that Senior Airman Jason Khai Phan, assigned to the 66th Security Forces Squadron, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., died Saturday in "a single-vehicle, non-combat related accident while conducting a routine patrol outside the perimeter of Ali Al Salem Air Base," according to a release.

 

Two other airmen were injured in the same accident; both were sent to a medical facility at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, with "non-life-threatening injuries," according to military releases.

 

Phan, 26, from Anaheim, California, was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, the Defense Department's campaign against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. According to Hanscom officials, his work while deployed included helping with preliminary criminal investigations, supporting base security, rendering emergency first aid and other base support functions.

 

He had recently been accepted as a military working dog handler and was supposed to attend the MWD Handler Course at Joint Base Lackland, Texas following his return from deployment. Phan was single and had no children, Hanscom officials said.

 

"Senior Airman Jason Phan was an exceptionally noble servant to the nation and his fellow Airmen," 66th Security Forces Squadron Commander Maj. Shane Watts said in a released statement. "His tireless commitment to master his craft made him a credible and reliable teammate in critical situations. But it was his genuine enthusiasm and selfless devotion to others that defined the depth of his character and inspiration to his peers and leaders. Jason lived with passion and shared compassion with purpose to everyone. He will be sorely missed by the Defenders here, and I'm extremely grateful for and humbled by his service. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones."

 

The cause of the accident is being investigated.

 

The Air Force operates alongside the Kuwait air force from the base, roughly 20 miles from the Iraqi border.

 

According to the Hanscom release, Phan had served with 66th Security Forces Squadron since Oct. 2018, and had been deployed to Kuwait since July.

 

In August, a Congressman, Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Florida, called on the House Armed Services Committee to investigate a "disturbing rise in deadly training accidents" following a series of vehicle mishaps.

 

To date in 2020, 11 U.S. troops have died while deployed supporting Operation Inherent Resolve; seven of them died in non-combat incidents.

Pier 58, the structure supporting Waterfront Park between the Seattle Aquarium and the Great Wheel, partially collapsed Sunday afternoon, roughly a month after officials discovered that it hadย moved several inches away from the land.

 

Last month, officials decided to accelerate the removal of the pier, which was slated for removal in 2022 as part of the redesign of the Seattle waterfront. Work on its removal began this weekend.

 

Several people fell into the water, according to the Seattle Police Department, but all have been rescued. The Seattle Fire Department has reported that two construction workers were transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

 

Harborview spokesperson Susan Gregg confirmed that the two patients admitted to the hospital did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.

 

Removing the pier requires pulling out the timber piles that support it, along with the parkโ€™s timber and concrete deck. The cityโ€™s Office of the Waterfront hired Orion Marine Contractors, with an office in Tacoma, to perform the work,ย estimated to cost $4.3 millionย and last through early 2021.

this entire weekend (Nov. 9, 10, 11) at her home in Irving, Texas. Mrs. Paine reportedly takes

To prove the first point, about Murdochโ€™s role, the draft legislation that the ACCC recommends the government should legislate was literally drafted by Rupert Murdochโ€™s News Corp who submitted it to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for them to countersign.

 

Murdoch does not run a media company in Australia as it has become nothing more than the media arm of the Liberal Party / National Party coalition. If Murdoch wants something from the politicians he gets it which is evident in the Google / Facebook shakedown. Even The Conversation website, which is owned by Australian Universities, has reported it as fact as per the 2019 article which started off:

To prove the second point, about the shakedown, when the draft legislation was announced regarding the federal government forcing Google and Facebook to pay Australian media companies Facebook said they would stop allowing links to be posted on Facebook linking to Australian media websites and immediately Australian media companies complained it was a threat.

Australian media are complaining that Google and Facebook profit from their articles but donโ€™t pay for it when they should but when Facebook says they will stop Australian media claim it is a threat when it is what they should want.

 

That says Australian media are in effect demanding that Google and Facebook promote their articles and websites and also pay for it. That is what I would call a shakedown.

NEW YORK โ€” The Trump administration gave the UAE a commitment during normalization negotiations that Washington would not recognize Israeli annexation of parts of the West Bank until 2024 at the earliest, sources with direct knowledge of the matter have told The Times of Israel.

 

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had for months promised to annex large parts of the West Bank as early as July 1, but that plan was officially suspended as part of the normalization agreement with the UAE. However, the sides have not formally provided an exact time-frame for how long the matter has been โ€œtaken off the table,โ€ as US President Donald Trump put it last month.

 

According to three sources with direct knowledge of the normalization negotiations, Emirati officials, led by the UAEโ€™s Ambassador to the US Yousef Al Otaiba, focused on seeking assurances from the US, rather than Israel, on the matter.

 

They were largely uninterested in receiving an Israeli commitment to an annexation freeze, the sources said, since they understood that Netanyahu would not move forward with the move without US support; the Israeli premier for months had said as much himself.

 

Rather, a key priority for the UAE during the negotiations was receiving a commitment from the US that it withhold its support for annexation if Netanyahu once again began promising to immediately carry it out, the sources said.

 

Trump administration negotiators, led by senior White House adviser Jared Kushner, agreed to set a timetable that was consistent with the one laid out for the Palestinians in the Trump peace plan, the sources said.

 

The Trump Administrationโ€™s โ€œPeace to Prosperityโ€ plan unveiled in January 2020 gives the Palestinian Authority a four-year window to engage with the peace plan, during which Israel is barred from expanding into areas earmarked under the plan for a future Palestinian state.

 

The UAE received a commitment from Washington that it would hold off on giving its blessing for Israeli annexation based on that same time-frame โ€” that is, until January 2024.

 

โ€œIf Trump wins a second term, that [time-frame] covers [them] for most of it. If [Democratic nominee Joe] Biden wins, the issue wonโ€™t be relevant anyways because of his opposition to annexation,โ€ said one of the sources with direct knowledge of the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

 

The Trump administration is hoping to use the final year of its hypothetical second term to โ€œhold the Palestiniansโ€™ feet to the fire,โ€ using the possibility of it otherwise backing annexation as a last piece of leverage to bring the PA to the table, another source said.

 

The White House declined to comment for this story, as did UAE officials in Washington and New York. Netanyahu has insisted that his plan to expand Israeli sovereignty to all the settlements in the West Bank and the Jordan Valley, in full coordination with the US, remains โ€œon the table.โ€

Pier 58 collapses on Seattle waterfront.

 

the structure supporting Waterfront Park between the Seattle Aquarium and the Great Wheel, partially collapsed Sunday afternoon, roughly a month after officials discovered that it had moved several inches away from the land.

Last month, officials decided to accelerate the removal of the pier, which was slated for removal in 2022 as part of the redesign of the Seattle waterfront. Work on its removal began this weekend.

Several people fell into the water, according to the Seattle Police Department, but all have been rescued. The Seattle Fire Department has reported that two construction workers were transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

Harborview spokesperson Susan Gregg confirmed that the two patients admitted to the hospital did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.

Police had blocked off the sidewalk along the west side of Alaskan Way, between the Great Wheel and aquarium, as well as one lane of traffic.

Removing the pier requires pulling out the timber piles that support it, along with the parkโ€™s timber and concrete deck. The cityโ€™s Office of the Waterfront hired Orion Marine Contractors, a company based in Texas with an office in Tacoma, to perform the work, estimated to cost $4.3 million and last through early 2021.

US School Teacher Accused of Brainwashing Kids Over BLM Cartoon Comparing Cops to Slave Owners, KKK

 

In recent months, the United States have seen significant developments in racial and social justice, in the wake of multiple incidents of police brutality against Black Americans involving white police officers, primarily encapsulated in the killing of Minneapolis resident George Floyd, a black man, who was asphyxiated by a white officer in May.

 

A Westchester County, New York, high-school teacher is in hot water after handing out to school kids cartoons that allegedly compare US police to slave owners and the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), a white supremacist hate group in the United States, the New York Post reported on Sunday.

 

The teacher, Christoper Moreno of Westchesterโ€™s Westlake High School, was said to have given students on their first day a five-frame cartoon panel with images related to the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. BLM was created in part as a response to the killing of George Floyd, a black man, in May at the hands of white police officers.

 

In its first three frames, the cartoon panel depicts slave owners, along with a KKK member, kneeling on the backs of African-American men in shackles, with the KKK member holding a noose around a black manโ€™s neck. The last two frames feature a sheriff and a police officer kneeling on the necks of handcuffed black men, an image resembling how Floyd was murdered. The last two frames were also captioned with a phrase pronounced by Floyd before he died: โ€œI canโ€™t breatheโ€.

 

โ€œMy daughter showed me the paper. I said, `What is this?! Youโ€™ve got to be kidding me!โ€™โ€ said Ania Paternostro, a Westlake HS student mom, according to the NYP. โ€œThis cartoon compares the police to the KKK. Itโ€™s an attack on the police.โ€

 

Paternostro told the newspaper that she โ€œimmediatelyโ€ issued a letter to the office of the Mount Pleasant School district superintendent, Kurt Kotes, as well as to the schoolโ€™s administration, in protest of what she characterized as a โ€œbrainwashingโ€ of her children.

 

โ€œEnough is enough,โ€ Paternostro said. โ€œThis cartoon is disturbing. We have to respect the men in blue who protect us,โ€ stated the US immigrant mom of two, a native of Poland. We donโ€™t need a teacher brainwashing my kids. Iโ€™ll teach my kids about whatโ€™s right and whatโ€™s wrong.โ€

 

Paternostroโ€™s daughter, Nicole, said that the teacherโ€™s lesson plan was โ€œdisgustingโ€, and added that Moreno had offered a one-sided point of view.

 

โ€œThe cartoon was disgusting,โ€™โ€™ the school student reportedly told the newspaper. โ€œIt compared the police with all the terrible people in history. It was not fair. It wasnโ€™t right.โ€

 

The teen complained that she was criticized on social media as being racist, after sharing Morenoโ€™s history class plan, titled โ€˜European Colonization of America: Origins of American Society, Conflict, Powerโ€™.

 

In a letter to the parents of Westlake HS students, Kotes promised an investigation into the matter, according to the NYP.

 

โ€œI have been advised that one of our High School teachers may have recently conducted a lesson that many have deemed to be highly controversial in the current climate,โ€ Kotes reportedly said in his letter. โ€œI want to assure the community that the District will be conducting a thorough investigation to determine what exactly occurred in this particular classroom and what, if any, action is to be taken under the circumstances to appropriately address the matterโ€.

 

Moreno has not yet commented on the matter, according to the newspaper.

 

According to the paper, the same cartoon was featured in an online assignment sent to students of the Wylie Independent School District in Texas. Texas state Governor Gregg Abbott called for the teacher responsible for the assignment to be fired.

Georgia Deputy Fired After Seen On Video Repeatedly Punching Man During Traffic Stop

 

An investigation is now underway after video showed two deputies punching and tasing the passenger of a car that was stopped for a broken taillight. Roderick Walker, who was a passenger in the rideshare, allegedly didnโ€™t have an ID.

In a memo released on Friday, Attorney General Bill Barr announced the formation of a Justice Department task force to combat anti-government extremist groups, such as Antifa and those who support the "Boogaloo" movement.

 

The document cites "significant threats to the rule of law," and "indefensible acts of violence" as the rationale behind the formation of the group.

 

"Amid peaceful demonstrations protected by the First Amendment, we have seen antigovernment extremists engaged in indefensible acts of violence designed to undermine public order," Barr wrote. "Among other lawless conduct, these extremists have violently attacked police officers and other government officials, destroyed public and private property, and threatened innocent people."

 

He added, "Some pretend to profess a message of freedom and progress, but they are in fact forces of anarchy, destruction, and coercion."

 

Barr claimed some of the anti-government extremist groups may be receiving funding from foreign entities, which are looking to sow seeds of chaos within the United States.

 

"We have evidence that anti-government violent extremists โ€” including those who support the 'Boogaloo,' those who self-identify as Antifa, and othersโ€” will pose continuing threats of lawlessness," he explained. "Some of these violent extremists, moreover, may be fortified by foreign entities seeking to sow chaos and disorder in our country. The Department of Justice will respond to these violent groups in the same way we respond to other organized criminal or terrorist networks โ€” by disrupting their violent activities and ultimately dismantling their capability to threaten the rule of law."

 

The task force will work with the FBI to "develop detailed information about violent anti-government extremist individuals, networks, and movementsโ€”and will share that information as appropriate with federal, state, and local law enforcement, especially in places where these extremists pose a threat."

 

It will also provide training and resources to local police and law enforcement, to help track down and arrest anyone perpetrating acts of violence.

 

"The ultimate goal of the task force will be not only to enable prosecutions of extremists who engage in violence, but to understand these groups well enough that we can stop such violence before it occurs and ultimately eliminate it as a threat to public safety and the rule of law," the memo read.

 

Barr concluded, "This will not be an easy undertaking, but I am confident that the men and women of this Department are up to the challenge. The task force we create today will lead the way in this important law enforcement mission on behalf of the American people."

 

This news comes on the same day that President Trump signed an executive order protecting American monuments, memorials and statues from being ripped down. The president said those who try to destroy them will be hit with prison time.

strange kerning

the letters are replaced in the pdf with fonts that are strangely kerned to put in two letters when there should be just one. Or one when they are really two.

this was shown to be an artifact NOT of scanning because it didn't happen with any other combinations that would have also occured, but only on names.

 

and there is a laundry list of them.

and pdf files going back over 15 years are bastardized with this strange kerning.

And it isn't clear to me where in the chain of reading and writing these file that this kerning happened.
