Fwiw, the screen cap says the litigants were going forward "pro se" (representing themselves). For some reason this seems to be the case pretty often. People cannot get success using lawyers in some cases.

 

I've read of this with family court cases where people having their children "legally" kidnapped by the state don't get effective representation and seem to end up better off representing themselves.

The VP AND majority of either cabinet or congress can invoke. The President would then state that he is fit to be President. Congress can then bypass Trump's fitness declaration with VP AND 2/3rds majority of both houses.

Can't do it without Pence. And Pence would be president in authority for at least a brief moment until Trump could notifies Congress he is fit.

 

It's a shitshow no-win for Democrats, and probably not fast enough before the election. Democrats have already torn up the constitution, created new precedents, abused their power so anything's possible I guess.

 

I don't trust Pence but if Pence went along with this the American people would probably say that it's a coup.

At 400 AM CDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Delta was located

near latitude 26.9 North, longitude 93.7 West. Delta is moving

toward the north near 12 mph (19 km/h), and this motion is

expected to continue today followed by a north-northeastward motion

by tonight. On the forecast track, the center of Delta will move

inland within the hurricane warning area this evening.

 

Maximum sustained winds are near 120 mph (195 km/h) with higher

gusts. Delta is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson

Hurricane Wind Scale. Slow weakening is expected to begin as Delta

approaches the northern Gulf coast later today, with rapid

weakening expected after the center moves inland.

 

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 40 miles (65 km) from the

center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 160 miles

(260 km).

 

The estimated minimum central pressure based on data from the Air

Force Hurricane Hunters and NOAA buoy 42002 is 953 mb (28.15

inches).

'The Premier has been actively dodging my questions since July. Today was just another example of the new status quo in Queen’s Park, no response. After this exchange I’m not even sure if the Premier and his Cabinet know what's going on regarding the Federal government considering the expansion of isolation/quarantine facilities from coast to coast.

 

The language in the RFI is overly broad and ambiguous, and we ought to have clarification on the purpose of these isolation/quarantine facilities. I asked clear and precise questions about the Federal government's tendering for β€œisolation/quarantine camps” in Ontario. Where will they be, how many will there be, and how many people will be housed?

 

The Government House Leader suggests these are for β€œinternational travellers”, however the RFP says β€œpublic health and other related federal requirements associated with the COVID-19 pandemic response.” My question on the purpose was cut short and once again the government refused to give an answer. Why won't they answer? It seems to me they aren't even aware of these proposals.'

Remember when they tried to get you to believe that people were just dropping dead in the streets in the very beginning of all this fake pandemic scare? Fear-based control. Remember when they tried to tell you that piles of bodies were stacking up in waiting rooms, utility rooms, and being loaded into big trucks? If it was a real pandemic, there would be bio-hazard bins everywhere. Duh. Remember how there were so many people ignoring so many very important details like that one. Remember how brainwashed triggered dipshyts yelled at random people for not wearing a mask or social distancing? Remember how brainwashed ignorant dipshyts put their children through hell for no reason? Remember how people weren't allowed to go to work, feed their children, wipe their ass, go to the park, go to funerals, visit our elderly, go on vacation, go to church, go to school, but RIOTS ARE OK? They brought a young violent thug into a nursing home to beat the hell out of elderly while preventing their family from being anywhere near them. They released thousands upon thousands of dangerous criminals. They arrested, locked up, and heavily fined innocent upstanding citizens. Remember how businesses had to shut down? Remember how people had to suffer without much-needed medical care? Remember how many people committed suicide? Remember how many families will lose their homes? Remember how many marriages were broken? Remember how there were no more outstanding number of deaths in America in 2020 than in any previous year? Look what you've done, people.

The news that emerged last week about Wei Wei was attention-grabbing to say the least.

 

Police announced the Toronto-area real estate developer had been charged after officers raided a lavish, well-armed and illegal casino that was uniquely located inside a sprawling mansion.

 

Wei is alleged to have been the mastermind behind the high-end β€œMackenzie No. 5 Club,” where police seized an assault rifle from his bedroom, gaming tables and more than $1 million in cash.

 

β€œThe money moving through these underground casinos leads to huge profits for criminals that fund other ventures such as prostitution and drug trafficking,” York Regional Police said in a statement last week.

 

Not long ago, however, the businessman accused of being at the centre of it all was moving in some of Canada’s loftiest business and political circles, partly as an advocate for China.

 

Wei met at least twice in 2016 with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, including at a controversial Liberal fundraiser in the home of another wealthy entrepreneur.

 

Wei also was among a delegation of four representing a Chinese government-endorsed industry group that met separately with Trudeau. Another member of the delegation donated $1 million to the Trudeau Foundation and the erection of a statue honoring the prime minister’s father.

Both the fundraising event and the gift fed a controversy over alleged cash-for-access schemes that gave rich donors face time with Trudeau. The uproar prompted the Liberals to reform their fundraising rules.

 

Liberal spokesman Matteo Rossi did not address questions about Wei specifically, but said the party now has the toughest and most transparent standards for fundraising in federal politics. That includes allowing media coverage of events and hosting them in publicly accessible spaces.

 

β€œAs his party’s new leader, it’s time that Erin O’Toole also did the right thing and committed to stop barring journalists from the Conservative party’s behind-closed-doors fundraising events,” said Rossi.

 

York Regional Police painted an eye-opening picture of the underground casino they found in the suburbs north of Toronto. Wei and his wife, Xing Yue Chen, bought the opulent, 20,000-square-foot estate in 2015 for $4.7 million, with a mortgage of $3 million, property records indicate. Police say it’s now worth $9 million.

Wei, 52, his wife, 48, and 25-year-old daughter were charged with keeping a common gaming house and other offences.

 

But the operation’s existence was not exactly a closely held secret. The National Post obtained an elegantly printed invitation from Wei that announced a β€œsoft opening cocktail party” for what it called the β€œMackenzie No. 5 Club.”

 

Hundreds of people attended the event in November 2019, including a number of local politicians, said an acquaintance of Wei’s who asked not to be named. She remembers line-ups of people waiting to take selfies with the β€œVIPs.”

 

Though the source did not notice formal casino equipment, she said she saw many of the guests playing cards and gambling there.

 

How Wei went from a well-connected property developer to an alleged black-market gaming boss is not clear.

 

Wei couldn’t be reached for comment, but the source said he came to Canada about 10 years ago under the investor-immigrant program. As head of Skywalk Investment, he’s known for buying and selling real estate in the Toronto area, serving on a committee of the Canada-China Realty Professional Association, which says it is dedicated to encouraging development and investment opportunities in the two countries.

House Democrats to unveil bill to create commission on 'presidential capacity'

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will unveil a bill on Friday with Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), a constitutional law expert, that would create a commission to determine whether a president is fit for office amid concerns over President Trump becoming sick with COVID-19.

Pelosi's office announced Thursday that she and Raskin will formally introduce the bill at a news conference on Capitol Hill on Friday morning, hours after she hinted to reporters that "we're going to be talking about the 25th Amendment."

It's expected to reflect legislation that Raskin originally introduced in 2017 that would establish a commission to determine presidential fitness for office as outlined by the Constitution's 25h Amendment, which outlines presidential removal procedures.

The 25th Amendment states that the vice president and a majority of either the president’s Cabinet β€œor of such other body as Congress may by law provide” can declare that they believe a president cannot fulfill his or her official duties. Raskin's original bill would have established said "body" to be made up of physicians, psychiatrists and former public officials like former presidents or Cabinet secretaries selected by congressional leadership.

Raskin told The Hill on Friday, hours after Trump announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19, that he would be updating his bill.

"I've got my 25th Amendment legislation from the last Congress, H.R. 1987, which I'm going to be dusting off and reintroducing," Raskin said.

When asked Thursday if she believed it is time to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office, Pelosi declined to go into detail but questioned why the White House wasn't providing a full accounting of Trump's health, including when he last tested negative for COVID-19.

β€œI’m not talking about it today except to tell you, if you want to talk about that, we’ll see you tomorrow,” Pelosi said. β€œBut you take me back to my point, Mr. President, when was the last time you had a negative test before you tested positive? Why is the White House not telling the country that important fact about how this made a hot spot of the White House?”

Trump responded to Pelosi's initial comments on Thursday by tweeting that "Crazy Nancy is the one who should be under observation. They don’t call her Crazy for nothing!"

Pelosi has repeatedly questioned Trump's mental health and suggested that he needs an "intervention" from family members and White House advisers.

Pelosi suggested again on Thursday that the medications that Trump is taking for COVID-19 are causing mental impairment and erratic behavior.

Two days ago, Trump tweeted that he had instructed his aides to stop negotiating with Pelosi on a pandemic aid package. But then hours later, Trump called on Congress to pass piecemeal measures like aid for the airline industry, an additional round of stimulus checks and additional funding for the Paycheck Protection Program to help small businesses.

When asked during a Bloomberg TV interview on Thursday if she believed Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin had the authority to negotiate a coronavirus relief package on Trump's behalf, Pelosi said, "The president is, shall we say, in an altered state right now."

"There are those who say when you are on steroids and, or if you have COVID-19 or both, that there may be some impairment of judgment. But, again, that is for the doctors and the scientists to determine," Pelosi added.

Trump was hospitalized at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center from Friday to Monday and received numerous therapeutics to treat COVID-19. He was also, at times, placed on supplemental oxygen.

Trump has released numerous videos recently stating that he is feeling better. He said Thursday morning in an interview on Fox Business that β€œI feel perfect. There’s nothing wrong.”

At least 34 White House staffers and other contacts have been infected with COVID-19 in recent days, including several who attended a White House ceremony announcing Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, on Sept. 26.

White House spokeswoman Alyssa Farah declined to say Thursday when Trump last tested negative for COVID-19, saying that "I can't reveal that at this time. Doctors would like to keep it private."

A solid majority of 56 percent of Americans say they are better off now than they were four years ago, a new Gallup survey reveals.

Only 32 percent say they are worse off than four years ago. The number is, as Fox News’s Laura Ingraham noted on Thursday night, β€œthe highest Gallup has ever recorded.”

Historically speaking, this bodes very well for President Donald Trump as he seeks reelection. Right around previous presidential elections when an incumbent has been seeking reelection dating back to the mid-1980s, never has this number been this high β€” or even at a majority. For instance, when former President Barack Obama was seeking reelection in early 2012, the number was at 45 percent. It stayed at that level through the election that Obama won until December 2012. Likewise, when former President George W. Bush was seeking reelection in 2004 β€” in October β€” the number was at 47 percent. The junior Bush won. When former President George H.W. Bush was seeking reelection in 1992, the number dropped down to 38 percent β€” and the senior Bush lost. But in 1984, when former President Ronald Reagan was seeking reelection β€” he won 49 states in a landslide defeat of his Democrat opponent β€” the number was down at just 44 percent.

It is unclear what the number was during former President Bill Clinton’s reelection campaign in 1996 in the immediate lead-up to the election as Gallup’s chart does not include that year, but earlier in 1996, less than a year before the election in January, the number was reported at 50 percent.

While the 56 percent number is impressive indeed β€” again the highest ever recorded this close to an election β€” it was even higher before the coronavirus pandemic swept across the United States. In February, a whopping 61 percent said they believed they were better off than three years earlier when Trump took office in January 2017. As such, while the number slid a little bit β€” five points β€” during the coronavirus pandemic the past six months, the number of Americans who consider their lives better with Trump as president remains at record levels even with all the disruption this year.

NEWARK, N.J. – A U.S. Postal Service (USPS) mail carrier from Hudson County was arrested today for discarding mail, including 99 general election ballots sent from the County Board of Elections and intended to be delivered to West Orange residents, from his assigned routes in Orange and West Orange, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Nicholas Beauchene, 26, of Kearny, New Jersey, is charged by complaint with one count of delay, secretion, or detention of mail and one count of obstruction of mail. He is scheduled to appear this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy L. Waldor in Newark federal court.

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court:

Approximately 1,875 pieces of mail – including 627 pieces of first class, 873 pieces of standard class, two pieces of certified mail, 99 general election ballots destined for residents in West Orange, and 276 campaign flyers from local candidates for West Orange Town Council and Board of Education – were recovered from dumpsters in North Arlington and West Orange on Oct. 2, 2020, and Oct. 5, 2020. The mail had been scheduled to be delivered on Sept. 28, Oct. 1, and Oct. 2, 2020, to addresses on certain postal routes in Orange and West Orange. On the delivery dates for which mail was recovered, Beauchene was the only mail carrier assigned to deliver mail to the addresses on the recovered mail.

The recovered mail was placed back into the mail stream for delivery to its intended recipients. Copies of the recovered mail were made and retained as evidence.

The delay of mail charge is punishable by a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The obstruction of mail charge is punishable by a maximum penalty of six months in prison and a $5,000 fine.

U.S. Attorney Carpenito credited special agents of the USPS-Office of Inspector General, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Matthew Modafferi, Northeast Area Field Office, with the investigation leading to today’s arrest. He also thanked the North Arlington Police Department, under the direction of Scott Hedenberg, for their assistance.

The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara F. Merin of the Special Prosecutions Division in Newark.

The charge and allegations in the complaint are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

A declassified congressional report confirms prior reporting by The Federalist that Daniel Jones, a former staffer for Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), hired Fusion GPS and Christopher Steele after the 2016 election to push the anti-Trump Russian collusion narrative.

 

According to the report, Jones, who runs an investigative outfit called the Penn Quarter Group (PQG), told the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in March of 2017 that he had retained the services of Fusion GPS and Christopher Steele to β€œcontinue exposing Russian interference” in the 2016 election. Steele is the former British spy who authored the infamous unverified dossier of allegations against President Donald Trump.

 

Although Jones’ name is redacted in the report, the biographical details plus previous reporting on the matter make clear that he is the individual referenced. The report also revealed that Jones told federal investigators that he had raised $50 million from β€œ7 to 10 wealthy donors located primarily in New York and California.”

An Update to How We Address Movements and Organizations Tied to Violence

Update on October 6, 2020 at 2:00PM PT:

On August 19, we announced a set of measures designed to disrupt the ability of QAnon and Militarized Social Movements to operate and organize on our platform. In the first month, we removed over 1,500 Pages and Groups for QAnon containing discussions of potential violence and over 6,500 Pages and Groups tied to more than 300 Militarized Social Movements. But we believe these efforts need to be strengthened when addressing QAnon.

Starting today, we will remove any Facebook Pages, Groups and Instagram accounts representing QAnon, even if they contain no violent content. This is an update from the initial policy in August that removed Pages, Groups and Instagram accounts associated with QAnon when they discussed potential violence while imposing a series of restrictions to limit the reach of other Pages, Groups and Instagram accounts associated with the movement. Pages, Groups and Instagram accounts that represent an identified Militarized Social Movement are already prohibited. And we will continue to disable the profiles of admins who manage Pages and Groups removed for violating this policy, as we began doing in August.

We are starting to enforce this updated policy today and are removing content accordingly, but this work will take time and need to continue in the coming days and weeks. Our Dangerous Organizations Operations team will continue to enforce this policy and proactively detect content for removal instead of relying on user reports. These are specialists who study and respond to new evolutions in violating content from this movement and their internal detection has provided better leads in identifying new evolutions in violating content than sifting through user reports.

We’ve been vigilant in enforcing our policy and studying its impact on the platform but we’ve seen several issues that led to today’s update. For example, while we’ve removed QAnon content that celebrates and supports violence, we’ve seen other QAnon content tied to different forms of real world harm, including recent claims that the west coast wildfires were started by certain groups, which diverted attention of local officials from fighting the fires and protecting the public. Additionally, QAnon messaging changes very quickly and we see networks of supporters build an audience with one message and then quickly pivot to another. We aim to combat this more effectively with this update that strengthens and expands our enforcement against the conspiracy theory movement.

This is not the first update to this policy – we began directing people to credible child safety resources when they search for certain child safety hashtags last week – and we continue to work with external experts to address QAnon supporters using the issue of child safety to recruit and organize. We expect renewed attempts to evade our detection, both in behavior and content shared on our platform, so we will continue to study the impact of our efforts and be ready to update our policy and enforcement as necessary.

On September 16, we started down-ranking content in the Pages and Groups that have been restricted but not removed. However, we have seen growing movements that, while not directly organizing violence, have celebrated violent acts, shown that they have weapons and suggest they will use them, or have individual followers with patterns of violent behavior. Reviewing Related Hashtags on Instagram: We have temporarily removed the Related Hashtags feature on Instagram, which allows people to find hashtags similar to those they are interacting with. We are working on stronger protections for people using this feature and will continue to evaluate how best to re-introduce it.

Prohibit Use of Ads, Commerce Surfaces and Monetization Tools: Facebook Pages related to these movements will be prohibited from running ads or selling products using Marketplace and Shop. In the near future, we’ll extend this to prohibit anyone from running ads praising, supporting or representing these movements.

Prohibit Fundraising: We will prohibit nonprofits we identify as representing or seeking to support these movements, organizations and groups from using our fundraising tools. We will also prohibit personal fundraisers praising, supporting or representing these organizations and movements.

Democratic donors are obscuring millions in 2020 election cash by using a dark money entity to mask the original source of the contributions, federal filings show.

Nearly $30 million in secret cash has been pumped into the elections through the Sixteen Thirty Fund, a progressive incubator managed by Arabella Advisors, a D.C.-based consulting firm. Because the Sixteen Thirty Fund does not disclose its donors' identities, individuals can use the group to fund super PACs anonymously. Many Democratic PACs report the Sixteen Thirty Fund as their largest donor, which means that their most generous backers remain hidden from public view.

The 2020 cycle marks the first time the Sixteen Thirty Fund has been used to pass money to presidential and congressional electoral efforts. The fund's primary purpose is to house progressive nonprofits, in which capacity it has facilitated hundreds of millions in anonymous donations to left-wing groups and initiatives.

One such group is Change Now, which has raised $6.4 million this cycle. The super PAC's filings with the Federal Election Commission show that it has received $5 million of its contributions from the Sixteen Thirty Fund, which accounts for 80 percent of its total cash haul. Change Now, in turn, has injected large sums into ad buys and direct mail against Trump and Republicans locked in tough Senate races. So far this cycle, the super PAC has spent $2.9 million against Trump and spent hundreds of thousands more against Sens. Susan Collins (R., Maine), Martha McSally (R., Ariz.), and Thom Tillis (R., N.C.).

The Sixteen Thirty Fund also provides administrative support to Change Now, according to filings.

The Black PAC is another liberal super PAC that counts the Sixteen Thirty Fund as its largest donor. Officially dedicated to increasing black turnout, the group has bombarded airwaves with ads against Trump and GOP lawmakers. The Sixteen Thirty Fund accounts for $2.25 million of the $6.3 million the Black PAC has raked in this cycle, while George Soros's Democracy PAC, which has pumped more than $50 million into the 2020 elections, added a $1 million contribution of its own.

The Black PAC has also received hefty funding from the pro-Biden Unite the Country super PAC, the League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund, America Votes, and Service Employees International Union. It has spent more than $3 million on media buys, canvassing, telephone calls, and direct mail against Trump, Sen. Tillis, and Michigan Republican Senate candidate John James.

The Sixteen Thirty Fund funneled millions more to other prominent liberal PACs. These donations include $5.7 million to Victory 2020, a joint fundraising venture between Unite the Country and David Brock's American Bridge PAC; $3.5 million to Priorities USA, the largest pro-Biden super PAC; $2.2 million directly to the American Bridge PAC; and $2 million to PACRONYM, a super PAC tied to the ACRONYM dark money network, which is funding "fake news" sites that push flattering stories about Democrats.

"The Sixteen Thirty Fund is confronting the biggest social challenges in our country through fiscal sponsorship, advocacy, and electoral action like many other 501(c)4 organizations," Amy Kurtz, the group's executive director, told the Washington Free Beacon. "We support investing in the health and strength of our democracy and have lobbied in favor of reform to the current campaign finance system (through H.R. 1), but we are equally committed to following the current laws to level the playing field for progressives in this election."

The Free Beacon reported in July that the Sixteen Thirty Fund was being utilized to steer just shy of $20 million into the 2020 elections. It has since pushed millions more to election efforts, bringing its total to nearly $30 million.

Arabella Advisors, which manages the Sixteen Thirty Fund, oversees what has become a dark money juggernaut. More than $1 billion in secret cash has passed through the funds it manages to bankroll progressive causes in recent years. Demand Justice, which falls under the Sixteen Thirty Fund's umbrella, is currently in the midst of a $10 million campaign against Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett.

The estimated percentage of circumcised males in each country and territory varies considerably. The present study provides the most accurate estimate to date of MC prevalence in each country and territory in the world. We estimate that 37–39 % of men globally are circumcised.
