Ukraine's Investigators Summon Constitutional Court Head Over Organised Crime Suspicions

 

The Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigations has summoned Oleksandr Tupytskyi, the head of the national Constitutional Court, for questioning on 2 November over his suspected involvement in organised crime.

 

The body added that Tupytskyi was suspected of involvement in an organised criminal group as well as covering up the committed crimes.

 

"An investigator of the Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigations has summoned the head of the Constitutional Court for questioning scheduled for 2 November 2020", the bureau said in a statement on late Thursday.

 

Earlier this week, the Constitutional Court overturned a number of anti-corruption norms in the legislation, including criminal liability for declaring false information. On Wednesday, the EU Delegation to Ukraine urged Kiev to restore conditions for the effective work of anti-corruption bodies, recalling that EU assistance, including financial, was linked to independent work of the anti-corruption architecture, free of any pressure.

 

Several opposition parties said that the Constitutional Court's decision could have negative consequences for Ukraine's European integration. Internet publication Evropeyskaya Pravda reported, citing a letter from the EU Ambassador of Ukraine to Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, that the EU might suspend the visa-free regime with Ukraine in connection with the decision of the Constitutional Court.

Florida Man Facing Over 80 Counts Of Child Molestation Found Dead In Jail

 

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. β€” On the morning of October 26th, 2020 jail staff discovered James Palmucci dead within his cell.

 

James Palmucci originally entered the Charlotte County Jail on 83 charges against children. James was cleared for a general population pod with similar classified inmates and housed alone in a cell.

 

Palmucci’s victims were young teenage girls who he talked to on the app Snapchat. Authorities said they found videos on his phone of him with the victims.

 

Per policy, corrections deputies walk the pod once every 60 minutes to ensure the safety and security of all inmates. Around 6am prior to shift change, James Palmucci was observed in his cell.

 

This morning, jail staff went to notify Palmucci of the mornings court appearance. It was at this time when James Palmucci was discovered deceased in his cell with fabric located around his neck. Detention members and jail medical staff performed life saving measures as Charlotte County EMS were in route.

 

Detectives with the Charlotte County Major Crimes Unit are conducting interviews and investigating. There had been no threat to Palmucci during his stay within the Charlotte County Jail and no one who had contact with him recalled him uttering statements eluding to self-harm.

Firefighter Who Drove 6 Hours To a Chili’s To Have Sex With A Child And Her Mom Faces Life

 

RICHMOND, Va. – A Pittsburgh man pleaded guilty today to attempted coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity.

 

According to court documents, in November 2019, Brian Kosanovich, 58, a firefighter living in Pittsburgh, responded to a profile posted by an FBI undercover employee on Alt.com, which is a website that hosts a network of members interested in alternative forms of sexual relationships, including a variety of fetishes, kinks, BDSM, etc. The undercover officer’s profile indicated that she was a single mother with a 10-year-old daughter. After establishing contact on Alt.com, Kosanovich and the undercover officer began communicating via the Kik messaging application. Kosanovich and the undercover officer engaged in extensive conversations of a sexually explicit nature for several months, much of which focused on Kosanovich having sex with the 10-year-old as well as the mother. At several points, Kosanovich engaged in sexually explicit chats with the undercover officer who at the time was posing as the 10-year-old girl herself. Over the period of the investigation, Kosanovich sent the undercover officer nude β€œselfies” pictures, and a prepaid Visa card so that the mother could buy sex toys to use with the daughter.

 

Ultimately, on February 18, Kosanovich traveled from Pittsburgh to a Richmond Chili’s restaurant for the stated purpose of having sex with the mother and daughter, and was arrested by FBI officials upon his arrival.

 

Kosanovich faces a mandatory minimum term of 10 years in prison, and a maximum possible sentence of life in prison when sentenced on March 3, 2021.

TWIN CITIES, MN β€” An Eighth Circuit panel Thursday night ruled that election officials must "segregate" Minnesota ballots received after Election Day. The decision is a victory for local GOP groups, who sought to challenge Minnesota's extended Nov. 10 absentee ballot deadline.

 

"There is no pandemic exception to the Constitution," the court ruled.

 

Minnesota Public Radio reporter Brian Bakst was among the first to break the news.

 

Immediately following the decision, Sen. Amy Klobuchar began warning the state's voters that it's too late to mail in their ballots, and that they should be submitted in person.

 

"BREAKING: Because of LAST MINUTE ruling, Minnesota DO NOT put ballots in mail any more," Klobuchar told voters on Twitter. Meteorite contained more than 2,000 organic materials, including some dating back to early days of solar system

 

In 2018, a meteorite fell to Earth, causing a fireball that streaked across the sky in Michigan. Now, researchers have discovered the space rock contains "extraterrestrial organic compounds."

 

The study, published in the scientific journal Meteoritics & Planetary Science, notes the meteorite was an H4 chondrite (only 4% of all meteorites that fall to Earth are H4 chondrites). It also contained more than 2,000 organic materials, including some dating back to the early days of the solar system.

 

"This meteorite is special because it fell onto a frozen lake and was recovered quickly. It was very pristine. We could see the minerals weren't much altered and later found that it contained a rich inventory of extraterrestrial organic compounds," the study's lead author, Philipp Heck, said in a statement. "These kinds of organic compounds were likely delivered to the early Earth by meteorites and might have contributed to the ingredients of life."

METEORITE STRIKES MADE LIFE ON EARTH POSSIBLE, STUDY SAYS

 

Known as the Hamburg meteorite, the fireball entered the Earth's atmosphere on Jan. 16, 2018. It lit up the skies over large parts of North America, including Ontario, Canada, and the midwestern part of the U.S., before ultimately crashing to Earth in Michigan.

 

Hours later, meteorite hunters Robert Ward and Larry Atkins found the first parts of the meteorite, Fox News previously reported.

 

A small chunk of an asteroid or comet is known as a meteoroid. When it enters Earth's atmosphere, it becomes a meteor, fireball or shooting star. The pieces of rock that hit the ground, valuable to collectors, are called meteorites.

 

The fragment found by Ward was eventually donated to Chicago's Field Museum, where it was observed by study co-author Jennika Greer.

 

"This meteorite shows a high diversity of organics, in that if somebody was interested in studying organics, this is not normally the type of meteorite that they would ask to look at," Greer explained. "But because there was so much excitement surrounding it, everybody wanted to apply their own technique to it, so we have an unusually comprehensive set of data for a single meteorite."

 

The researchers found that the ratio of uranium and its decayed state suggest the asteroid formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago, according to LiveScience. That means the material is from the very early days of the solar system and roughly the same age as Earth.

 

Since the meteorite fell onto a frozen lake, the fragments that were studied showed "no or little signs of terrestrial weathering," the researchers noted in the study, making it cleaner than other meteorites that fall to Earth.

 

"Scientists who study meteorites and space sometimes get asked, do you ever see signs of life? And I always answer, yes, every meteorite is full of life, but terrestrial, Earth life," Heck added. "As soon as the thing lands, it gets covered with microbes and life from Earth. We have meteorites with lichens growing on them. So the fact that this meteorite was collected so quickly after it fell, and that it landed on ice rather than in the dirt, helped keep it cleaner."

 

In 2019, a separate group of researchers suggested meteorites actually made life possible on Earth. They identified isotopes of selenium in rocks in Earth's mantle and found identical isotope signatures inside certain meteorites, notably those from the outer solar system.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – An investigation is underway in Philadelphia after police found explosives and other suspicious cargo inside a van in Logan Circle on Wednesday night.

 

Action News has learned that police recovered propane tanks, torches and possible dynamite sticks from the van.

 

The bomb squad is investigating. There is no word on who owns the van or if anyone has been arrested.

 

The discovery comes as the city remains on heightened alert following nights of unrest stemming from the police killing of Walter Wallace Jr.

Walmart Removes Guns and Ammo From Store Displays, Citing Potential β€˜Unrest’

 

Walmart Inc. on Thursday announced it will pull all guns and ammunition from its store displays on sales floors at stores this week in a bid to prevent the theft of firearms if stores are looted or broken into during potential mass civil unrest.

 

The Arkansas-based retail giant confirmed its new policy to news outlets, stipulating that customers can still buy firearms and ammo upon request.

 

β€œWe have seen some isolated civil unrest and as we have done on several occasions over the last few years, we have moved our firearms and ammunition off the sales floor as a precaution for the safety of our associates and customers,” Walmart said in a statement, according to the Wall Street Journal and other outlets.

 

It’s not clear if the company is referring to the possibility of civil unrest that may occur during the Nov. 3 election. Walmart pulled guns and ammo from sales floors earlier this year in response to widespread demonstrations, vandalism, looting, and riots following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

 

Guns and ammo β€œdo remain available for purchase by customers,” the retailer said in its statement Thursday, adding that β€œwe only sell firearms in approximately half of our stores, primarily where there are large concentrations of hunters, sportsmen, and sportswomen.”

 

The firm stopped selling ammunition that can be used in semiautomatic rifles and pistols after the mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, in 2019.

 

This week, a Walmart in Philadelphia was looted and ransacked during protests and riots that were sparked by the officer-involved shooting of a black male allegedly armed with a knife.

 

In 2018, Walmart raised the minimum age to purchase ammo or guns to 21 following the Parkland, Florida, mass shooting. Years before that, the retailer stopped selling certain rifles, and about 20 years ago, it stopped selling handguns except in Alaska.

Over the past several months, in the midst of riots and the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus pandemic, guns and ammo sales have skyrocketed.

 

The National Shooting Sports Foundation, a firearms trade group, said in August that about 12 million background checks were carried out between January and July 2020, which is up about 72 percent from the same time last year. About 5 million of those purchases involved first-time gun buyers, according to the group.

 

β€œThis is a tectonic shift in the firearm and ammunition industry marketplace and complete transformation of today’s gun-owning community,” said Lawrence G. Keane, an executive of the organization. β€œThese first-time buyers represent a group of people who, until now, were agnostic regarding firearm ownership. That’s rapidly changing, and these Americans are taking hold of their God-given right to keep and bear arms and protect themselves and their loved ones.”

 

Walmart operates more than 4,700 stores across the United States, according to reports.
