Spotify deleted over 100 episodes of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast

 

Spotify has pulled more than 100 episodes of embattled podcaster Joe Rogan’s show, according to a web site which tracks the podcast.

 

JREMissing reported Saturday that 113 episodes of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” many of them older and recorded before his recent COVID-19 controversy, had been yanked.

 

Among the missing shows are those featuring well-known conservatives, far-right pundits or conspiracy theorists, including Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes, Michael Malice, Alex Jones and Milo Yiannopoulos, as well as comedians like Rich Vos and Little Esther and Bulletproof founder Dave Asprey.

 

Rogan has been off Spotify’s airwaves for a week. The podcaster apologized and pledged more balance on his wildly popular but controversial podcast on Jan. 30, after a rush of rock legends quit Spotify and accused him of spreading COVID-19 misinformation.

 

Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, singer/songwriter India Arie, Mary Trump and writer Brene Brown are among those who have pulled their work off the platform.

 

Rogan was forced to apologize a second time Friday, after Arie showed a now-viral clip of Rogan uttering the n-word numerous times in his podcast over the years. Rogan called the instances of him saying the n-word “regretful and shameful.”

 

Upon his return to the platform Friday, Rogan, 54, slammed a 10 p.m. curfew which had been enacted in Montreal last month as COVID infections surged, calling the restriction, “wild.”

 

“It’s been pretty clear up until this point that all these lockdowns don’t work. They don’t stop the spread,” he said.

 

A recent study released by experts at Johns Hopkins backed up Rogan’s assertions, finding that lockdowns and other restrictions in the first wave of the pandemic reduced COVID deaths by just .2 percent.

OTTAWA – “Freedom convoy” supporters convinced that the Governor General can dissolve Parliament on a whim have “absolutely inundated” Rideau Hall with calls over the past week, National Post has learned.

Since the beginning of the week, the phones at Rideau Hall have been ringing off the hook.

But instead of the usual calls regarding guided tours, questions about honours bestowed annually to chosen Canadians, or requests to meet with Governor General Mary Simon, callers have been asking the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General (OSGG) to dissolve the government.

“The Office of the Secretary to the Governor General has received a high volume of calls and emails in recent days related to the protest. Due to this high volume, we are aware of the long wait times and appreciate the public’s patience,” spokesperson Josephine Laframboise said in a short email statement.

The callers are participants and supporters of the so-called “freedom convoy” that has been occupying the streets around Parliament for a week, demanding that the Trudeau government put an end to all public heath measures (even though the majority of them are under the provincial government’s purview.)

Last week, organizers also published a manifesto billed a “memorandum of understanding” demanding that the Governor General and the Senate unite to force all levels of government to end any COVID-19 measures and vaccine passports, and re-instate all workers laid off due to vaccine requirements.

That has seemingly pushed protesters and their supporters to flood Rideau Hall’s phone and email lines demanding that Mary Simon act, going as far as demanding that she dissolve government and remove Prime Minister Justin Trudeau from power.

Rideau Hall’s call centre normally receives between 25 to 50 calls in a day, according to numbers provided to National Post by a source with direct knowledge of the situation who was not authorized to disclose the information publicly.

But that has exploded over the last few days, with over 100 calls registered on Tuesday, more than 1,500 on Wednesday and over 4,600 at one point in the afternoon on Thursday , with callers waiting up to two hours to speak to a Rideau Hall employee, according to the source.

Rideau Hall neither confirmed nor denied that data Friday.

But the protesters’ calling campaign is all for naught as there is no way the Governor General could ever acquiesce to any of their demands, says Daniel Béland, director of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada.

“The Governor General cannot just decide to fire the prime minister like that,” Béland said.

If anything, Béland says, their best chance of ousting Trudeau is by reaching out to opposition parties demanding that they take down the government and force a new election.

“If they want to bring the Trudeau government to an end, or at least spark elections and the possibility of having a new government, then they should pressure opposition parties to vote down (the government) during the next confidence vote.”

It’s useless for protesters to be “calling Rideau Hall or pressuring senators to do something, that’s not how things work,” he added. “It’s a democratic system, and neither the senate nor the Governor General are elected, so they don’t have the democratic legitimacy” to dissolve government.

This week, National Post called Rideau Hall’s general line. What would normally be a few seconds of waiting to reach an employee instead turned into 25 minutes of waiting on hold before someone picked up the phone.

The worker who eventually answered then promptly apologized for the wait, noting they had been “absolutely inundated” with calls.

This is far from the only disruption caused by convoy participants over the past week. Since last weekend, businesses in downtown Ottawa have been forced to close because of protestors’ rowdy and sometimes belligerent behaviour towards employees and clients.

Residents living in the streets near Parliament Hill have been subjected to ceaseless honking and other noises at all hours of the day and night by convoy members, sparking increased demand for stricter police enforcement.

“We have not seen this level of protest that has seeped into our residential neighbourhoods ever before,” Ottawa Police Deputy Chief Steve Bell told reporters Friday.

So be wary of tactics intended to mislead you and stick to your plan to progress as the opportunities arise. Be patient as we have painted a picture that promises to become your reality as you progress. How far away it is depends a lot on you and others like you who have earned the opportunity to progress even further, because of your dedication to learn from your experiences. Progress can sometimes be very slow but once the power of the dark Ones is curtailed going should be plain sailing. Look forward to a great experience as you overcome any obstacles on your path and victory will be yours.

 

Your destiny is to take your place amongst the ascended souls, so you have a wonderful future to look forward to that already beckons. Trust those souls who travel with you and direct you and protect you to help ensure your success. Agree. and I don't think dems wanted Brandon to win, just take the popular vote. That's why there was so much fuckery in districts in red states (going by Seth Keshel). EV were a foregone conclusion, but the popular vote count needed to be padded. Nationally, I think the dems thought the good guys were going to pull what they had done in 2016 with the machine counts, so when that didn't happen the Brandon count snowballed into the absurd.

 

Pence, potentially, allowing a week or so to review elector certification needed to be stopped, so the dems did the Jan 6 FF. Spotify Continues to Remove Joe Rogan Episodes — 42 Shows Now Deleted

Also suddenly missing is a ‘Live from the Icehouse’ episode (#149) featuring Joe Rogan and Little Esther, Al Madrigal, Josh McDermitt, Brendon Walsh, Felicia Michaels, and Brian Redban. That sounds like a fun time, though perhaps one-too-many raunchy jokes were tossed around in the episode. Indeed, the episode may have simply contained one objectionable joke — but that was enough for Spotify’s editors to hit delete and remove the show entirely.

 

That crew featured in the ‘Icehouse’ episode seems particularly unpopular with Spotify’s oversight committee.

Earlier, Spotify deleted Joe Rogan Experience episode #276 featuring Little Esther, Al Madrigal, Josh McDermitt, Brendon Walsh, Felicia Michaels, and Brian Redban. In total, 7 different episodes featuring guest David Seaman have been nixed, while the same number of podcasts featuring Brian Redban have also been deleted.

 

Also squarely making Spotify’s sh-t list is Chris D’Elia: in total, four separate episodes featuring D’Elia have been removed by Spotify. Others getting repeatedly nixed include Owen Benjamin, Joey Diaz, Gavin McInnes, and Eddie Bravo, all of whom have been repeat guests on The Joe Rogan Experience — and have had their shows removed.

 

Then, there are the more well-known removals. Alex Jones and Milo Yiannopoulos were notoriously stripped from the podcast early on, though Rogan tested Spotify’s censorship committee by re-inviting Jones onto the podcast in recent months. Spotify hasn’t removed Jones’ latest episode — not yet, at least.

 

It’s unclear exactly when the shows in question were removed, or why.
