Congressional Group To Host Event Celebrating โ€˜Renowned Activistโ€™ Angela Davis

 

Radical communist involved in a California terrorist attack carried out by Black Panthers

 

Congress is promoting a book club meeting in honor of Angela Davis, the radical communist activist who was involved in a California terrorist attack carried out by the Black Panthers.

 

The Middle Eastern and North African Staff Association, "a bicameral and bipartisan Congressional Staff Organization," announced that its first in-person book club meeting would be on Davis's Freedom Is a Constant Struggle, a 2015 book that argues that Palestinians and black Americans are part of a global struggle against police violence.

 

"In honor of Black History Month, our pick this month is โ€˜Freedom Is a Constant Struggle' by Angela Davis," the group said. "World-renowned activist and scholar Angela Davis illuminates the connections between struggles against state violence and oppression throughout history and around the world."

 

The staff association is listed as an official "resource" by the House Office of Diversity and Inclusion. In its weekly newsletter, the office encouraged staffers to RSVP to the book club, which is scheduled for Feb. 27 at Busboys and Poets. The restaurantโ€”whose owner has said the United States takes "marching orders from Tel Aviv"โ€”hosted Davis herself for an event in 2015, and the domestic terrorist Bill Ayers in 2018.

 

Though the Middle Eastern and North African Staff Association is described as a bipartisan group, its website indicates it only has four members who are all in Democratic offices. Neither it nor the Office of Diversity and Inclusion responded to requests for comment.

 

Davis has long been an apologist for radical ideologies and their most violent adherents. During the Cold War, she defended communist dictators, several of whom gave her awards for her pro-Soviet activism. Davis is an outspoken supporter of Rasmea Odeh, who bombed an Israeli grocery store in 1969, and Jim Jones, the cult leader who convinced nearly 1,000 of his followers to commit suicide. She also defended the Black Panthers who tortured and killed a 19-year-old, calling them her "sisters and brothers."

 

Davis's involvement in terrorism reached its zenith in 1970, when Black Panther militants took over the Marin County Civic Center in California, killing four people including a judge. Davis owned the weapons used in the attack, though she was later acquitted after spending a year in jail.

 

Congress created the House Office of Diversity and Inclusion in 2019.

Official data from Public Health Scotland confirms the vaccinated population have accounted for 4 in every 5 Covid-19 cases, hospitalisations and deaths over the past two months.

 

But a side by side comparison of those two months suggests the Covid-19 booster campaign has been a complete failure because the percentage of Covid-19 cases, hospitalisations and deaths have all gone down in the unvaccinated population whilst increasing drastically in the triple vaccinated population.

 

Nicola Sturgeon the First Minister of Scotland has insisted that mask wearing and vaccine passports will remain in Scotland despite Boris Johnson the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom scrapping both requirements at the end of January, and pledging to possibly scrap all remaining restrictions towards the end of February.

 

Mask wearing, as anyone with an oune of intelligence should know, is of course completely pointless because the virus is small enough to penetrate the holes found in surgical masks and FFP3 masks. So the cloth masks sold by Dr Julia Grace Patterson (an unregistered doctor who is really a psychiatrist) and her EveryDoctor venture are just borderline idiotic.

 

But whatโ€™s fast becoming even more idiotic is the idea that a vaccine passport system is the way forward, because official Public Health Scotland data shows it is the vaccinated who are most likely to spread Covid-19, it is the vaccinated who are most likely to be hospitalised with Covid-19, and it is the vaccinated who are most likely to die of Covid-19.

Public Health Scotland (PHS) publish a weekly Covid-19 Statistical report containing data on Covid-19 cases, hospitalisations and deaths by vaccination status.

 

The following chart has been collated from data found in table 11 of the PHS Covid-19 Statistical Report published 12th Jan 22, and table 12 of the PHS Covid-19 Statistical Report published 9th Feb 22, and it shows the number of Covid-19 cases by vaccination status betweeen 11th Dec 21 and 7th Jan 22, and between 8th Jan and 4th Feb 22.

Biden Admin Already Backtracking On ISIS Leader Raid Story Details

 

US military officials told reporters on Thursday that there could have been more civilian casualties than initially thought in the recent special operations forces raid in northwest Syria that targeted an ISIS leader.

 

When the raid first happened, President Biden and the Pentagon said ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi blew up himself, his wife, and two children on the third floor of a building once US forces arrived. But other sources said at least 13 people were killed. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said among the 13 killed were four children and three women.

 

The military officials admitted Thursday that they donโ€™t know for certain if al-Qurayshi detonated the bomb that caused the explosion. They insist the blast was caused by someone in the building and wasnโ€™t the fault of the US, but they admitted there is no video footage of the raid.

 

The officials also said they couldnโ€™t rule out that more people than al-Qurayshi and his family died. They noted that "multiple bodies" ended up under rubble, and the US forces didnโ€™t have time to count them.

 

The officials said a lower-level ISIS member was on the second floor of the building with five children. The US forces killed the ISIS fighter and his wife in a gun battle and were able to evacuate four of the children, but a toddler was found dead, and the cause of death was not clear.

 

The raid came amid heightened scrutiny over the high number of civilian casualties caused by US operations in the Middle East. Thursdayโ€™s briefing shows that the White House was not being truthful about the raid on al-Qurayshi right after it happened.

 

On the day the raid was announced, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said it was "confirmed" that al-Qurayshi blew himself up and scoffed at a reporter who asked for evidence. The reporter mentioned that some people are 'skeptical" about US claims when it comes to civilian casualties. Psaki fired back and asked if the skeptics thought ISIS was providing more accurate information than the US military.

 

"Well, not ISIS, but, I mean, the US has not always been straightforward about what happens with civilians. And, I mean, that is a fact," the reporter responded.

After massive pressure from the German government, the messenger service Telegram has blocked a total of 64 channels, the "Sรผddeutsche Zeitung" (Saturday edition) reported, citing security circles. The closure was due to pressure from the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), the report added.

 

The BKA had sent corresponding deletion requests to Telegram. A total of 64 have been considered so far, it said. On Thursday, there had been a second working-level conversation between the government and Telegram.

 

The government and the company wanted to "remain in close exchange," it said after the talks. The company's founder, Pavel Durov, had already assured this in the first meeting, in which he himself had participated.

The former president's nudge comes after Biden's landmark $1.7 trillion social and climate spending bill, the Build Back Better Act, was tabled after Sen. Joe Manchin gave it a hard 'no.'

 

Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer promised at the time to 'vote on a revised version of the House-passed Build Back Better Act โ€” and we will keep voting on it until we get something done.'

 

Obama's appeal to the Democrats came after top Senators warned colleagues that the party wasn't focused on the issues Americans care about - such as the economy - and called for action to avoid a disaster in the midterms.

 

A new CNN poll shows that voters are more concerned about economic issues than they have been in two decades.

 

A majority of voters, 59%, said the economy will be extremely important to their congressional vote in the midterm elections, while 55% said the same of inflation, and 49% on taxes.

 

Concerns about the economy were not so prevalent in a midterm year CNN poll since 2002.

 

But even more concerning for Democrats is that voters said they would prefer a candidate who opposes Biden to one who supports him by a 10 point margin 42 to 32%.

Thousands of NYC teachers, firefighters, and cops to lose jobs today because of vaccine mandate

 

Thousands of municipal workers in New York City could lose their jobs Friday as Mayor Eric Adams will enforce the COVID-19 vaccine mandate deadline set by his predecessor, Bill de Blasio.

 

The city has said about 3,000 of the New York's 370,000 or so teachers, firefighters, cops, and other workers are not currently in compliance with the controversial mandate and will be terminated at end of the day if they do not get the jab.

 

Groups representing city workers have protested for their jobs and filed legal challenges against the mandate, but Adams has been unmoved by their appeals.

 

โ€œWe have to be very clear โ€” people must be vaccinated if they are New York City employees,โ€ the mayor said at a news conference Thursday. โ€œEveryone understood that.โ€

 

โ€œWe are not firing them,โ€ he insisted. โ€œPeople are quitting. The responsibility is clear.โ€

 

โ€œI want them to stay, I want them to be employees of the city, but they have to follow the rules,โ€ he added.

 

City officials have touted the vaccine mandate as a success, noting that 95% of the municipal workforce has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, up from 84% when the madate was first announced in October.

 

Unions representing various parts of the city's workforce formed a coalition and sued to block the mass firings. But a judge on Thursday ruled in favor of the city, which has argued that losing nearly 3,000 workers won't affect city services because these workers have been on unpaid leave since November.

 

But some of those workers take offense to what they're hearing from the city.

 

"The city wants to deny that there's irreparable harm. But there's a lot of harm," said a NYC school guidance counselor who spoke with TheBlaze. She asked to remain anonymous because she's involved in a lawsuit against the vaccine mandate, fighting to keep her job.

 

"Kids are seeing their parents not going to work. People defaulting on their mortgages. Anxiety, stress, there's emotional damage the city isn't acknowledging," she told TheBlaze.

 

Though the city is offering employees the opportunity to apply for a religious or medical exemption, some workers say they've been unable to have their exemption requests approved.

 

John De Luca, 47, is a teacher in the Bronx. He co-founded a group called Educators for Freedom, which is raising money to protect education workers from being fired for their religious convictions. He told TheBlaze that his own personal application for a religious exemption from the vaccine mandate was denied on the grounds that it would cause an "undue hardship."

 

"I think people are fed up with all this stuff. This is just crazy," De Luca said. "Where are our rights? Where did they go? Don't we live in the United States of America?"

Humans form governments not to surrender their liberty but to secure it. The state exists for man, not man for the state, as many natural law philosophers have observed. According to this understanding of government, the proper response to a tyrannical law is disobedience. An unjust law, after all, isnโ€™t a real law at all. It is an act of violence that cries out for resistance. But self-serving government officials cast such laudable resistance as a threat to the state. In truth, it is only a threat to their tyranny.

 

So it goes in Canada, where its prime minister, Justin Trudeau, is busy denouncing truckers for daring to defend their own freedom. โ€œBlockages, illegal demonstrations are unacceptable, and are negatively impacting businesses and manufacturers,โ€ he said this week. โ€œWe must do everything to bring them to an end.โ€

 

The โ€œinherent violenceโ€ of the truckers? How lame. Trudeauโ€™s resort to such smears just underscores the weakness of his position.

 

Who can take such rhetoric seriously, given all the damage outrageous COVID mandates have done to businesses? His outburst against the truckers โ€” they are โ€œtrying to blockade our economy, our democracy and our fellow citizensโ€™ daily livesโ€ โ€” is an apt description of the impact of his own decrees.

 

Even more pathetic is his attempt to hide his tyranny behind wokeness and wild mischaracterizations of the protests. โ€œPeople of Ottawa donโ€™t deserve to be harassed in their own neighborhoods, donโ€™t deserve to be confronted with the inherent violence of a swastika flying on a street corner or a confederate flag or the insults and jeers just because theyโ€™re wearing a mask. Thatโ€™s not who Canadians are,โ€ he said.

His stubborn flailing hasnโ€™t gone unnoticed by members of his party. โ€œTrudeauโ€™s own party is starting to turn on him over Covid restrictions,โ€ according to Politico. โ€œA backbench lawmaker from Justin Trudeauโ€™s own caucus is accusing the prime minister of dividing and stigmatizing Canadians by politicizing vaccine mandates and Covid-19 restrictions,โ€ it reports. โ€œJoรซl Lightbound delivered the stunning, scathing assessment Tuesday in Ottawa with the big rigs of the so-called Freedom Convoy just outside the door.โ€

 

Lightbound says that the truckers are simply responding to Trudeauโ€™s self-indulgent and overreaching vaccine politics: โ€œA decision was made to wedge, to divide and to stigmatize. I fear that this politicization of the pandemic risks undermining the publicโ€™s trust in our public health institutions.โ€

 

Meanwhile, the New York Times ran a piece reporting that some Canadian progressives would like to see Trudeau smite the truckers, in a manner similar to his fatherโ€™s treatment of Quebec terrorists in the 1970s. The piece recalled Pierre Trudeauโ€™s famous words โ€” โ€œJust watch meโ€ โ€” after he was asked if he would wipe out the Quebec terrorists:

 

It was October 1970 when Pierre Elliott Trudeau โ€” Justin Trudeauโ€™s father โ€” took this stand. Asked outside Parliament how far he would go to stop The Front de Libรฉration du Quรฉbec, an extremist group agitating for Quebecโ€™s independence from Canada, he was defiant. Mr. Trudeau successfully quashed the extremists by invoking the War Measures Act โ€” the only time in Canadian history it was applied in peacetime. He sent thousands of troops to Montreal and abrogated some civil liberties. Uniformed soldiers raided homes, hunting for terrorists. Some 400 people were arrested and detained without charges.

 

Now, some in Canada are calling for Justin Trudeau to have his โ€œJust watch meโ€ moment.

 

โ€œ โ€˜Just watch meโ€™ is burned into the memory of all of us who were alive to hear then prime minister Pierre Trudeau speak it, all those years ago,โ€ read a letter published Monday in the Toronto Star, Canadaโ€™s largest circulation newspaper. โ€œIt is time for his son, Justin, to do the same with the protesters in Ottawa.โ€

 

In the warped and feverish imagination of the woke, the unvaccinated are akin to terrorists and domestic insurgents. But whether Justin Trudeau is unhinged enough to unleash the War Measures Act against the truckers remains to be seen.

 

One can only hope that the truckers keep up their protests, which are not a threat to democracy but an admirable expression of it. They are teaching the COVID tyrants an overdue lesson, the most fundamental one to democracy: that government exists to serve, not dominate, the people.

The federal government doled out nearly a billion dollars in stimulus payments to prison inmates in 2021 under President Joe Biden's American Rescue Plan, according to IRS records obtained by the Washington Examiner.

 

The third-round stimulus payments to prisoners totaled $924.3 million, which was much greater than previously reported. The checks went out despite efforts by Republican Sens. Tom Cotton of Arkansas and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana to bar stimulus funds from going to prisoners. Senate Democrats voted unanimously against the amendment in a 50-49 party-line vote in March 2021.

 

"In one of the most inexplicable votes in Senate history, Senate Democrats sent terrorists and perverts $1,400 checks paid for by U.S. tax dollars. It is a vote that should tick off every American," National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Rick Scott, a senator from Florida, said in January. "The Boston Marathon bomber and Larry Nassar are in prison for their evil deeds killing Americans and molesting children. They do not deserve our money."

 

"Senate Democratsโ€™ shameful vote will live in infamy and will be a major reason why Republicans will take back the Senate and end the madness," Scott said.

 

The IRS reported that the money went to approximately 645,000 people who were incarcerated at the start of the year, according to FOIA records provided to the Washington Examiner by the NRSC.

 

The figure is much higher than the $783.5 million figure previously reported by Fox News in July.

 

"Individuals will not be denied Economic Impact Payments solely because they are incarcerated," the IRS said on its website. "An incarcerated individual may be issued a payment if all eligibility requirements are met and the individual filed a 2020 or 2019 tax return that was processed by the IRS."

 

Cotton railed against Democrats for voting to provide stimulus payments to criminals such as Dylann Roof, who was convicted of murder after he killed nine black people at a church in Charleston, South Carolina.

 

"Dylann Roof murdered nine people. He's on federal death row. He'll be getting a $1,400 stimulus check as part of the Democrats' 'COVID relief' bill," Cotton tweeted after Senate Democrats shot down his amendment.

However, the ministers also discussed the looming crisis in Ukraine, with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken calling Russia's military threats a challenge to the rules-based order, and saying it mattered to the Quad even though it was "half a world away".

 

"What's at stake is not simply, as important as it is, Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty independence, but very basic principles," he told reporters after the meeting," Mr Blinken said.

 

"Principles like 'one country' cannot simply change the borders of another by force. Principles like 'one country' can't simply dictate to another its choices, its policies, [or] with whom it will associate.

 

"If we allow those principles to be challenged with impunity, even if it's half a world away in Europe, that will have an impact here as well."

 

However, India's External Affairs Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, pointedly refused to be drawn into the conflict.

 

"I would just add that, as my colleagues have observed, we are for something not against someone," he told the press conference.

 

"If the four of us cooperate practically and efficiently, I think the world will be a much better place."

 

India's position is unsurprising. It retains a strong relationship with Russia, which provided vital support to India during the Cold War.

 

Moscow also still sells large quantities of military equipment to New Delhi and the two countries maintain deep defence ties.

 

During a recent Security Council debate over Russia's aggression, India called for peaceful dialogue and declined to criticise Moscow, simply reiterating that the "legitimate security interests" of all countries should be recognised.

Queensland police assistant commissioner Brian Codd suspended for alleged 'failure of duty'

 

A Queensland police assistant commissioner in charge of domestic violence investigations has been suspended from duty over allegations he failed to report a family-related matter to authorities.

Assistant Commissioner Codd has been the head of the Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons Command since March last year, following a spate of domestic violence crimes across the state.

 

He has also been heavily involved with several mental health initiatives within the Queensland Police Service (QPS).

 

Assistant Commissioner Codd was suspended without an opportunity to respond to the allegations.

 

His lawyer Calvin Gnech said he looked forward to providing his account to the QPS's internal investigation.

 

"Assistant Commissioner Codd has never had his integrity questioned across his distinguished 38 years of service as a Queensland police officer,'' Mr Gnech said.
