There is no difference between the Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians, Jews, Muslims or Hindus, hell, even the Dali Lama. The thing they ALL have in common is that a large part of their ministry is corrupt and compromised.

 

The Methodists and Catholics are taking sizable donations to settle into their parishes large numbers of the illegal invasion of America (not just them, all of them, buddhists, Lutherans, all of them are taking the blood money of human trafficking).

Navy Does Not Provide Cause of Death After Three Sailors From USS George Washington Aircraft Carrier Found Dead in Less than One Week

 

Three sailors from the USS George Washington Aircraft Carrier were found dead in less than one week, the Navy said.

 

One man was found unresponsive on the aircraft carrier last week and two other sailors were found dead at other locations, CNN reported.

 

“While these incidents remain under investigation, there is no initial indication to suggest there is a correlation between these tragic events,” said Cmdr. Reann Mommsen, a Navy spokeswoman.

 

The Navy did not publicly disclose the cause of death for any of the sailors.

 

CNN reported:

 

Three sailors from the USS George Washington aircraft carrier were found dead in less than one week, the Navy said, as the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and local authorities investigate the deaths.

 

The Navy did not provide a cause of death for any of the three, but the ship did bring on board a Special Psychiatric Rapid Intervention Team. These teams are intended to provide short-term mental health support after a traumatic event, such as a loss of life.

 

The Navy identified the sailor found deceased on April 9 as Retail Services Specialist 3rd Class Mikail Sharp. The Navy identified the sailor found deceased on April 10 as Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Natasha Huffman.

 

The Navy did not identify the third sailor who was found unresponsive on board the ship on Friday and died.

 

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family, friends, and shipmates of our Sailors,” Mommsen said.

On Tuesday Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced he was calling on the Special Session to file legislation to terminate all special districts that were enacted in Florida prior to 1968 and removal of exemptions from the big tech accountability law.

The Democratic cybersecurity lawyer charged with concealing his work for the Clinton campaign from the FBI doesn’t want special counsel John Durham to be able to use Hillary Clinton’s tweet touting the Trump-Russia collusion claims he was pushing as evidence at trial.

 

Michael Sussmann was indicted in September for allegedly concealing his clients — Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign and “Tech Executive-1,” known to be former Neustar executive Rodney Joffe — from FBI general counsel James Baker in September 2016 when he pushed since-debunked claims of a secret backchannel between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa-Bank. Sussmann has pleaded not guilty.

 

Durham told the federal court last week he wanted an October 2016 tweet from the Clinton campaign promoting the Alfa-Bank claims to be admitted as evidence at the May trial.

 

The special counsel argued the tweet is not inadmissible hearsay "because it is not being offered for its truth” — emphasizing that the prosecutors actually believe its claims were false. Durham said he instead wanted to present the tweet to “show the existence of the defendant’s attorney-client relationship with the Clinton Campaign, which is directly relevant to the false statement charge.”

 

On Halloween 2016, Clinton tweeted, “Donald Trump has a secret server … It was set up to communicate privately with a Putin-tied Russian bank.”

 

Clinton later tweeted, “Computer scientists have apparently uncovered a covert server linking the Trump Organization to a Russian-based bank.”

 

She also shared a lengthy statement by then-Clinton campaign adviser and current Biden national security adviser Jake Sullivan.

 

“This could be the most direct link yet between Donald Trump and Moscow,” Sullivan claimed. "This secret hotline may be the key to unlocking the mystery of Trump’s ties to Russia.”

 

Sullivan added, “We can only assume that federal authorities will now explore this direct connection between Trump and Russia.”

 

DURHAM SAYS SUSSMANN PUT HIS LIE TO THE FBI IN WRITING

 

The FBI, CIA, special counsel Robert Mueller, a bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee investigation, and Durham’s team have all cast doubt on or shot down the Alfa-Bank claims.

 

Sussmann’s lawyers argued the Clinton tweet sharing Sullivan’s statement and touting the story, which originally appeared in Slate, should be considered “inadmissible” for two “fundamental” reasons.

 

The defense attorneys said, “First, contrary to the Special Counsel’s misleading statement of the law, the Tweet is hearsay and it is plainly being offered for the truth: so that the Special Counsel can argue that the Campaign’s plan all along was to make a public statement about ‘federal authorities’ looking into the ‘direct connection between Trump and Russia.’ Second, the Tweet — which Mr. Sussmann did not author, issue, authorize, or even know about — is irrelevant, prejudicial, and would only confuse and distract the jury from the single false statement charge it must decide.”

 

Sussman's lawyers wrote, “The Tweet, which was posted on October 31, 2016, does not reveal anything about Mr. Sussmann’s state of mind over a month earlier, when he purportedly made the alleged false statement."

 

“There is no evidence that Mr. Sussmann’s meeting with Mr. Baker had anything to do with the Clinton Campaign’s broader media strategy.”

 

But Durham wrote, “In the months prior to the publication of these articles, the defendant had communicated with the media and provided them with the Russian Bank-1 data and allegations” and had kept Clinton campaign general counsel Marc Elias “apprised of his efforts” while Elias “communicated with the Clinton Campaign’s leadership about potential media coverage of these issues.”

 

The special counsel says the evidence at trial would show that, beginning in late July and early August 2016, Sussmann, Joffe, and “agents of the Clinton campaign” were “assembling and disseminating the Russian Bank-1 allegations and other derogatory information about Trump and his associates to the media and the U.S. government.” The special counsel said evidence will “establish that these efforts amounted to a joint venture.”

 

Sussmann’s lawyers countered, “There is a real danger that if the Tweet were admitted, the jury would believe that Hillary Clinton herself was part of the Special Counsel’s uncharged conspiracy and that she had a direct interest or involvement in Mr. Sussmann’s efforts. Drawing the candidate herself into this matter in this way would be unfair to Mr. Sussmann.”

The Sussmann indictment states that, shortly before his meeting with the FBI, Elias sent emails addressed to Sullivan, Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook, and Clinton Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri about the Alfa-Bank claims Sussmann was sharing with the media, with Elias billing his time to the Clinton campaign.

 

Elias hired the opposition research firm Fusion GPS, which in turn hired British ex-spy Christopher Steele in 2016. Durham revealed in February he has evidence that Joffe “exploited” DNS internet traffic at Trump Tower, former President Donald Trump’s Central Park West apartment building, and the Executive Office of the President.

 

The Special Counsel's Office said Joffe tasked university researchers with mining internet data to establish “an inference” and “narrative” to tie Trump to Russia, which Durham says Joffe believed would please certain “VIPs” — referring to the Clinton campaign.

School Cop Arrested for Trying to Pay a Child to Have Sex With Him in the Back of His Truck

 

Kalamazoo, MI — For 10 years, the students at Western Michigan University thought officer Abraham Martin Hohnke, 49, was there to protect them and keep them safe from criminals. All that has since changed however, as Hohnke was exposed this month as a criminal from whom the students needed protecting.

 

Hohnke was nabbed by fellow officers in an undercover sting for trying to pay a child to have sex with him — in a gas station parking lot — in the back of his pickup truck.

 

Hohnke and several other child predators were arrested as part of a sting operation run by the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office placed ads online offering up sex trafficked children for money. Hohnke responded to the ads, apparently ready and willing to engage in child sex trafficking.

 

Fortunately, however, there were no trafficked children and the alleged victims were undercover deputies with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.

 

According to the probable cause affidavit, the child predators thought they were meeting a 15-year-old girl for sex.

A sheriff’s office detective sergeant was posing as a 15-year-old girl online and arranged to meet Hohnke for sex April 13, the affidavit said.

 

In text messages, Hohnke said multiple times he planned to have sex with the girl. He also asked to videotape the intercourse for later viewing, the affidavit said.

 

Hohnke drove to a gas station near the hotel on 11th Street in Oshtemo Township where the deputy posing as a girl was at, the affidavit said.

 

Hohnke asked the girl to walk to him because he wanted to have sex in the back of his pickup, the affidavit said.

 

While Hohnke waited in the back of his pickup truck for his victim to enter, the door opened and it was deputies instead. Hohnke had a handgun and $1,582 on him when deputies found him waiting in the back of his truck.

Tampering by NYT Taylor Lorenz Exposes Conflict of Interest, Damages Ariadna Jacob’s Startup

 

Taylor Lorenz abused her position as technology reporter for the New York Times by tampering with the relationships in an industry she covers. A direct and intentional result of this tampering has been the damage to the credibility of Ariadna Jacob, CEO of Influences, a leading digital marketing and influencer firm that formerly represented many of the highest-earning TikTok stars in the world. Jacob claims that she has been blacklisted from an industry in which she was previously cited as a leader due to the inaccuracies in Lorenz’ stories and Twitter posts, and due to her major and direct conflict of interest with Influences competitors. United Talent Agency is the behemoth Hollywood talent agency that represents Lorenz. Many former Influences clients are now represented by UTA.

 

Among the Standards and Ethics documents on the Times Company website is a manual titled Ethical Journalism Guidebook, stated to be “a handbook of values and practices for the News and Opinion departments.” It contains many strictures that Lorenz violated in her coverage of Influences, UTA and the TikTok influencer industry. The Guidebook explicitly says, “Staff members may not accept employment or compensation of any sort from individuals or organizations who figure or are likely to figure in coverage they provide, edit, package or supervise.” UTA represents Lorenz for book deals.

 

UTA sought to increase its presence in the TikTok influencer industry, a sector of the digital media that traditional talent agencies had been slow to penetrate. Lorenz published the first of two articles concerning UTA, Influences and Jacob on April 6, 2020, These Top Hollywood Agents Are Signing All The Influencers. In it, she mentions other agencies briefly, but features quotes from or information about three UTA executives. The article closes with quotes from a UTA client declaring the agency to be the most relevant in the industry. At no time does Lorenz disclose her relationship with UTA. The effect of the article is a recommendation of an agency to a talent, which also violates the Ethical Journalism Guidebook section Rules for Specialized Departments which reads, “(employees) may not suggest agents, publishers, producers or galleries to aspiring authors, playwrights, composers or artists.”

 

The second article, Trying to Make It Big Online? Getting Signed Isn’t Everything, appeared on August 14, 2020. It paints a one-sided story of the events surrounding the establishment, management and ultimate failure of the Kids Next Door and Girls in the Valley content creator houses. It also details a complaint to the California Labor Commission in which Jacob was accused of withholding payment from a client. The article makes numerous defamatory claims against Jacob and her company with spurious or no substantiation. Many of the claims Lorenz reported included statements that Jacob and her lawyer had previously refuted in emails to Lorenz. Former Influences clients are quoted with no context or corroboration — clients who had breached their contracts with Jacob and were now signed to or being pursued by UTA.

 

Lorenz reported that the influencers living in the Kids Next Door house “were told that they would have to cover a larger share of rent.” Jacob’s lawyer responded to this allegation prior to the article being published, and called it “100% false.” Lorenz ignored this, along with Jacob’s lawyer’s thorough explanation of the agreements between Jacob and her clients, which indicated that Jacob was being taken advantage of by clients and others attempting to live rent-free in the house.

Yemen’s former president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi has reportedly been confined to house arrest in the Saudi capital of Riyadh following an agreement to remove him from power earlier this month.

 

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal under the condition of anonymity, Saudi and Yemeni officials said Riyadh pressured Hadi to step down before he ultimately handed power to a council of Yemeni factions on April 7, and has more-or-less kept him captive since.

 

“Hadi is effectively under house arrest at his residence in Riyadh without access to phones,” one Saudi official told the Journal, while another noted that a few Yemeni politicians had been allowed to see him, but only with the government’s permission.

Hadi’s resignation followed more than seven years of brutal fighting in Yemen, during which a coalition of states led by Saudi Arabia and heavily supported by the United States, waged a relentless bombing campaign, helping to drive what the UN has deemed the world’s most dire humanitarian crisis. The 76-year-old was elected on a one-man ballot in 2012, but was forced to flee the Yemeni capital in 2015 amid an uprising by Houthi rebels, who have since held onto power.

 

The warring parties recently agreed to a two-month ceasefire, which coincided with Hadi’s removal from office, with UN officials voicing hopes the truce could bring an end to fighting that has devastated civilian infrastructure across Yemen, including farms, factories, hospitals, schools, roads, bridges and ancient cultural sites. Some 400,000 people have been killed to date, in fighting and airstrikes as well as through deprivation caused by the war.

Omitted are any of the responses or documentation that would elaborate on the relationships and agreements between Influences and its clients, as well as any information that would exonerate Jacob. Lorenz oversimplifies the situation greatly, and lends full credence to unsubstantiated claims without including Jacob’s rebuttals. This is especially evident in the description of the legal dispute between Jacob and Brittany Tomlinson, who, at various times, had signed with Influences, UTA and Creator Edge, a third management entity comprised of Jacob, Jace Norman and Benjamin Berkley.

 

Jacob maintained that Influences never withheld any money owed to Tomlinson, and shared accounting records showing that Tomlinson was paid on time, within 5 days of Influences receiving payment from the brands using her for campaigns. Lorenz omits this information while quoting Tomlinson liberally. Tomlinson’s complaint with the California Labor Commission was based primarily on claims that Jacob was guilty of operating a talent agency without a license and demanding an “unconscionable” commission of 20%. Lorenz failed to acknowledge that online content creators are usually not considered “artists’’ under the California Labor Code unless they also work in one of the more traditional entertainment arenas, such as film, television or stage or that top TikTok representation firms including TalentX, Willy Social, Collab, Doiyen and Viral Nation often collect 20% commissions from creators. Even if Tomlinson had been considered an artist under the California Talent Agency Act, she had signed with UTA in November of 2019, and UTA was working in conjunction with Creator Edge. The case was far more complex than Lorenz accounted for, and by quoting Tomlinson without Jacob’s rebuttals she painted a very negative picture of Influences and Jacob while giving Tomlinson’s claims full credence. The complaint was ultimately resolved, and Influences was not required to present its defense to the Labor Commissioner, but by that time, the damage had been done. Lorenz has so far failed to publish another story explaining the outcome of the case.

 

Incomplete or tangential responses from Jacob tepidly follow uncorroborated statements by Drip Crib influencer Devion Young, Tomlinson and others. Lorenz was provided with documentation that elaborated on all situations, but shared the former Influences clients accusations without qualification.

 

Young claimed that Jacob was responsible for distributing nude photos that Lorenz says she has documentation of but refuses to provide. Lorenz does mention that Jacob’s lawyers dispute the claim, but gives none of the supporting context that the lawyer provided to her prior to the article being published, which indicated that Jacob simply made her partners aware of the existence of the photos.

 

Young said that Jacob leaked his nude photos to mutual business partners. Jacob says this is categorically false. Young and Jacob do not have — and have never had — any mutual business partners. Jacob says that she received a text alerting her to an allegation about Young sending nudes to potentially inappropriate parties. Jacob immediately forwarded those screenshots to the house manager for Drip Crib so he could investigate and as a matter of pressing ethical concern. She also sent them to Young who stated to Jacob at the time that his nude photos had been leaked on thousands of online Telegram chat groups by a member of the Drip Crib.

Lavrov Denies Russia Could Use Nukes In Ukraine

 

Days ago CIA Director William Burns raised the specter of Russia using nuclear weapons in its war on Ukraine. He said in Thursday remarks at Georgia Tech that the US cannot "take lightly" a scenario of tactical nuclear deployment, particularly if the Kremlin should feel increasing desperation as its goals are being thwarted by Ukraine's military resistance and heavier than expected losses.

 

"Given the potential desperation of [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin and the Russian leadership, given the setbacks that they’ve faced so far militarily, none of us can take lightly the threat posed by a potential resort to tactical nuclear weapons or low-yield nuclear weapons," Burns said at the time. He added that it would "change the world in a flash."

 

Naturally the intelligence chief's assessment set off a flurry of doomsday speculation and breathless media commentary suggesting Putin sees this as a real option, despite Burns in the same speech ultimately downplaying the idea.

 

"While we’ve seen some rhetorical posturing on the part of the Kremlin about moving to higher nuclear alert levels, so far we haven’t seen a lot of practical evidence of the kind of deployments or military dispositions that would reinforce that concern," Burns said.

 

And of course, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky seized on this, telling CNN's Jake Tapper in a Sunday interview that "We shouldn’t wait for the moment when Russia decides to use nuclear weapons​.​ … We must prepare for that​."

 

He went on to say in dramatic fashion that "anti-radiation medicine and air raid shelters would be needed" while underscoring that Russia "can use any weapon, I’m convinced of it​.​"

 

All of this has put pressure on the Kremlin to respond directly to the allegations, at a moment it ratchets up operations in the east to take the Donbas. On Tuesday Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was asked in an interview with India Today about the possibility of using nukes, to which he responded that Russia will only use conventional weapons in Ukraine.

 

According to Bloomberg, despite Lavrov obviously not being responsible for military decision-making, the comments remain "among the most categorical from a senior Russian official on the issue" which clearly deny the charge.

Putin, Saudi Prince Vow To Continue OPEC+ Cooperation

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed this weekend their countries’ cooperation in the OPEC+ oil production pact in their second telephone call since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

 

Russia is a key partner to OPEC’s largest producer and de facto leader, Saudi Arabia, in the OPEC+ alliance, which has been working for years to manage oil supply to the market. And it looks like Russia will continue to be such, despite Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

 

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, OPEC and the OPEC+ group have not publicly commented on the invasion, limiting themselves to saying that the market is currently run by “geopolitical events” or “the geopolitical tensions in Eastern Europe,” not by fundamentals.

 

The Saudi and Russian leaders “gave a positive assessment” of Saudi Arabia and Russia’s cooperation in the OPEC+ group during the phone call on Saturday, according to a statement from the Kremlin.

 

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA), for its part, said that the Saudi Crown Prince had received a call from Putin in which “bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in all fields in a way that achieves the interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples were discussed.”

 

“For his part, HRH the Crown Prince asserted the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for efforts that would lead to a political solution to the crisis in Ukraine and achieve security and stability,” the Saudi agency reported.

 

Despite the turmoil in the global oil and energy markets following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, OPEC+ publicly presents a unified stance on reiterating that it’s not fundamentals that are currently driving the oil prices higher. And despite calls from many oil-consuming nations to boost production more than planned, the alliance continues to stick to its monthly increases of 400,000 barrels per day (bpd), as agreed upon in the summer of last year. OPEC+ has defied some expectations that since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the meetings within the group would be difficult. On the contrary, the alliance has held two of its shortest meetings ever since the end of February and hasn’t mentioned Ukraine in any public statement.

 

OPEC, and by extension OPEC+, has steered clear of political statements and references as a matter of policy. OPEC did not break up even when its founding members, Iraq and Iran, for example, were in a state of war in the 1980s.

Lorenz instead relates Singer’s accusation that “She promised brand deals, money and opportunities. Everyone was promised income, but that never happened.”

 

During the time Lorenz was insinuating herself into the lives of the impressionable young creators and their often equally impressionable parents as she worked on the articles, UTA was actively pursuing Influences clients.

 

Lorenz has gone on to sow discord in other areas of the technology sector and is receiving strong backlash from many media commentators and critics for a number of recent gaffes. She has been caught masquerading online using a fake name and profile, something else that is explicitly against the Ethical Journalism Guidebook. She is held up as an example of reckless journalism by many, such as Glenn Greenwald, Tucker Carlson and Saagar Enjeti. In the case of her coverage of the TikTok influencer industry, her recklessness willfully exacerbated an already tenuous situation. Her slanted reporting cost several people more than hundreds of thousands of dollars while benefiting the agency that represented her. Influences is effectively out of business as the company it once was, and Jacob is picking up the pieces of her shattered career as she seeks investment funding for a new technology startup. In light of Lorenz’ failure to report on the outcome of Tomlinson’s complaint to the California Labor Commission, it is reasonable to conclude that her biased depictions of the industry demonstrate an ulterior motive, namely, to damage the credibility of Jacob for the benefit of UTA.

Top Democrat Funneled More Than $200,000 In Campaign Cash To Family Members

 

Democratic South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn has distributed more than $200,000 in campaign funds to entities controlled by his relatives, Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show.

 

Clyburn, the third-ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives, has made 15 rental payments to a company controlled by a daughter and son-in-law, and 39 direct payments to another daughter and son-in-law. Clyburn’s grandson also appears to be a salaried employee, and has received twice-monthly payments from the Clyburn campaign since October 2021.

 

The disbursements were first reported by Fox News.

 

The Clyburn campaign paid 49 Magnolia Blossom LLC $62,500 in 15 installments from March 2020 to January 2022 for “office rent,” according to FEC filings. 49 Magnolia Blossom LLC was incorporated in 2018, with Clyburn’s son-in-law Walter A. Reed listed as the company’s agent. Walter Reed is married to Clyburn’s daughter Jennifer Clyburn Reed, whom President Joe Biden appointed federal co-chair of the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission. In addition to the funds paid to his LLC, the Clyburn campaign paid $650 to Walter Reed personally for “office maintenance lighting” in May 2021, Fox News noted.

 

Clyburn Reed also received significant payments from the Clyburn campaign. During her father’s successful 2020 re-election campaign, Clyburn Reed was paid $45,000, which the Clyburn campaign described in filings as a “campaign management fee.”

 

Walter and Jennifer’s son, Walter A.C. Reed, was employed by the Clyburn campaign as well. Walter A.C. Reed, Rep. Clyburn’s grandson, received $37,500 across eleven payments from the campaign since October 2021.

 

The Clyburn campaign also paid the congressman’s other daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Cecil Hannibal, a combined $90,762 for various activities dating back to 2010.

 

Overall, Friends of Jim Clyburn has paid Clyburn’s family members and entities they control $236,412 since 2010.

Dad convicted of running sex cult out of daughter’s dorm room NEW YORK - A man who moved into his daughter's college dorm and charmed her schoolmates with stories about his wisdom was convicted Wednesday of charges that he exploited the close-knit group, using threats and violence to enrich himself with millions of dollars.

 

Lawrence Ray, 62, was convicted at a trial where weeks of testimony chronicled his psychologically manipulative relationship with young people he met in fall 2010 at Sarah Lawrence College, a small New York liberal arts school. Ray moved into his daughter's dorm after finishing a prison stint for a securities fraud conviction.

 

Sentencing was set for Sept. 16 on charges including racketeering, conspiracy, forced labor, sex trafficking and obstruction of justice. Ray, who stood with his arms at his side and faced the Manhattan jury as guilty verdicts were returned on 15 counts, could face up to life in prison.

 

After the verdict was read, Ray was returned to custody, where he had been since his early 2020 arrest.

 

His lawyers declined comment outside court and did not immediately return email messages seeking comment.

 

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said Ray had changed "a group of friends who had their whole lives ahead of them."

 

"For the next decade, he used violence, threats, and psychological abuse to try to control and destroy their lives," Williams said. "He exploited them. He terrorized them. He tortured them. Let me be very clear. Larry Ray is a predator. An evil man who did evil things. Today’s verdict finally brings him to justice."

 

Jurors concluded deliberations less than a day after receiving the case following a monthlong trial that featured testimony from numerous victims who usually referred to Ray just as "Larry." Some testified that Ray had made them believe they had poisoned or otherwise harmed him and they needed to pay him back.

 

One woman testified that she became a sex worker to try to pay reparations to Ray after becoming convinced that she had poisoned him. She said that, over four years, she gave Ray $2.5 million in installments that averaged between $10,000 and $50,000 per week.

 

Ray's lawyers maintained he was victimized by former friends who fabricated their stories.

 

Ray did not testify. Twice, the trial was interrupted as he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance for undisclosed illnesses.

 

Several students testified that they were drawn into Ray's world as he told them stories of his past influence in New York City politics, including his role in ruining the career of former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik after serving as the best man at his wedding years earlier. Ray had, in fact, been a figure in the corruption investigation that derailed Kerik's nomination to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

 

Some of the students agreed to live with Ray in the summer of 2011 at his Manhattan one-bedroom apartment, where his sinister side emerged as he started to claim that the students had poisoned and harmed him or his property.

 

To make amends, they testified, they did what he asked, including turning over money. One man said he gave Ray over $100,000.

 

Prosecutors said the money was never enough. Through threats and violence and videotaped "confessions," Ray tightened his hold on the young people, including forcing them to Do landscaping and other work at the Pinehurst, North Carolina home of his stepfather for weeks in 2013, they said.

 

The abuse culminated in October 2018 when Ray for hours repeatedly abused the woman who gave him her proceeds from sex work, forcing her to be tied naked to a chair while he berated her, choked her with a leash and made her fear for her life by putting a bag over her head, prosecutors said.

 

Ray carried out his crimes with help from his daughter and Isabella Pollok, a woman who has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges, prosecutors said. Her trial is set for later this year. The daughter has not been charged.

Yesterday I spent four hours watching television. This is not something I normally do because I find the entire television medium tedious, boring and a waste of time. Every television program is, from my point of view, a bad idea, because I dislike being programmed. In fact, I don’t even own a TV. When I need to watch something, I do so in a window on the screen of my laptop. But this was a special occasion.

 

What I watched was Putin’s nearly four-hour annual live Q&A marathon. People all over Russia submitted questions—over 2.3 million of them—by calling in, writing in, texting, recording videos, giving interviews to television crews. A very large team then organized the questions into general themes and prepared the most representative and best-expressed ones to be presented. A fair number of questions were asked live, on screen.

 

The main reason I watched the whole thing was that I had asked Putin a question, and I wanted to see if he was going to answer it. He did.

 

What do you do when you don't know what to do?

 

These marathon Q&A sessions are a very interesting feature of contemporary Russian political life. They give people throughout the country the ability to voice their complaints directly before the president, going over the heads of all the other officials, from regional governors to federal ministers. Over the years it has evolved into a uniquely effective tool to fix things and get things done.

 

On the one hand, it is rather sad that people in Russia sometimes need to get the president involved if they want a pothole fixed, but on the other, it shows some promise as a tool of direct democracy. In comparison, “the right of the people… to petition the Government for a redress of grievances,” guaranteed by the first amendment to the US constitution, isn’t particularly useful unless the complaint is accompanied by a check for a large amount. In the US, only the lobbyists and the political campaign donors are granted an audience.

 

This year’s innovation was that all 85 regional governors and all cabinet ministers were required to be present in their offices throughout the broadcast, ready to be videoconferenced into the national broadcast at a moment’s notice. But they didn’t get to just sit quietly picking their noses; the production’s hundreds of staffers and volunteers directly reached out to them with the questions they were receiving from people in their regions or on subjects pertinent to their positions.

 

Nor is their involvement going to be limited to the few hours of the show; later, they will receive all of the questions they need to address. They will also get to meet with Putin face to face and on camera, and he will hand each of them a green folder with action items they will be required to work on and report results. “I presume that all of this will get done,” said Putin. He didn’t say “it better!” but I am sure he meant it.

Navy Does Not Provide Cause of Death After Three Sailors From USS George Washington Aircraft Carrier Found Dead in Less than One Week

Three sailors from the USS George Washington Aircraft Carrier were found dead in less than one week, the Navy said.

One man was found unresponsive on the aircraft carrier last week and two other sailors were found dead at other locations, CNN reported.

“While these incidents remain under investigation, there is no initial indication to suggest there is a correlation between these tragic events,” said Cmdr. Reann Mommsen, a Navy spokeswoman.

The Navy did not publicly disclose the cause of death for any of the sailors.

Three sailors from the USS George Washington aircraft carrier were found dead in less than one week, the Navy said, as the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and local authorities investigate the deaths.

The Navy did not provide a cause of death for any of the three, but the ship did bring on board a Special Psychiatric Rapid Intervention Team. These teams are intended to provide short-term mental health support after a traumatic event, such as a loss of life.

The Navy identified the sailor found deceased on April 9 as Retail Services Specialist 3rd Class Mikail Sharp. The Navy identified the sailor found deceased on April 10 as Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Natasha Huffman.

The Navy did not identify the third sailor who was found unresponsive on board the ship on Friday and died.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family, friends, and shipmates of our Sailors,” Mommsen said.

A group of U.S. Democratic lawmakers, including four senators and a member of the House of Representatives, will travel to Poland, India, Germany, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates to garner support for Ukraine.

The team behind popular politics podcast Keeping It 1600 is doubling down in 2017. With less than two weeks to go before Donald Trump is sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, Jon Favreau,Jon Lovett and Tommy Vietor are launching a new media company with an eye on progressive advocacy that touts a tongue-in-cheek name: Crooked Media.

 

“If Hillary [Clinton] had won, I think we would have kept doing the podcast as a part-time job,” says Favreau, a former speechwriter for President Obama who has been running a Los Angeles-based consulting firm with Vietor. “When Trump won, we felt the other jobs we had were no longer sufficient. We needed to get back in the game. There’s a lot at stake right now and, certainly with Trump in office, there’s a lot in danger.”

 

Their big play, however, means the demise of Keeping It 1600. The podcast, which debuted on Bill Simmons’ Ringer network last May and quickly climbed the iTunes charts, released its final episode at the end of the year. Filling its place will be Pod Save America, a nearly identical program that premieres today and will air new episodes twice weekly under the Crooked Media banner. “We talked to Bill about this and he’s been supportive the whole time, but I think the idea of having an activism-focused organization under the rubric of a media company that does sports and entertainment coverage doesn’t work,” Favreau adds. “It seems to us that the best way to grow this is to do it on our own.”

 

They are essentially on their own, initially relying only on ad revenue for the new podcast. Crooked Media — the name is a play on Trump’s derogatory nickname for Clinton and, at times, the news media itself — ultimately plans to be a hub for video, editorial content and information about liberal forces working against Trump’s conservative platform. Favreau says all that will come later, as the immediate focus is on rebuilding its strong subscriber base on the new podcast. Favreau, Lovett and Vietor will continue to host the Monday episode of Pod Save America, as they did on 1600, while Thursday episodes will again find Favreau joined by Dan Pfeiffer. (Pfeiffer, who served as a CNN contributor during the election, will not be part of Crooked Media, instead keeping his post as communications and policy vp at GoFundMe.)

 

Keeping It 1600 became an incredibly popular outlet for commentary during the presidential election. The four hosts, former advisers to Obama and staffers for much of his presidency, come with an admittedly liberal point of view — but frequently welcomed guests from both side of the aisle. The plan is to keep that up in this new iteration, while also drawing on voices from the world of entertainment in the effort to keep things light.

 

Favreau and Lovett, both of whom now live in Los Angeles (Lovett, 34, created the short-lived NBC comedy 1600 Penn), say they want Pod Save America and future Crooked Media content to blend the accessible political humor of TV hosts like John Oliver and Samantha Bee with their own firsthand familiarity with politics after years spent working in the beltway.

 

“There’s an entire generation that traditional political media is not reaching,” says Favreau. “A lot of what you hear on television is in a dead language. It’s similar a problem to the communication we get from politicians a lot.”

How Zionism Is Fuelling a Religious War Over al-Aqsa Mosque

 

The ongoing attempts to take over Muslim holy places, whether in Jerusalem, Hebron, or in Nablus, continue apace, as does valiant Palestinian resistance to them

 

The Israeli Jewish colonial fundamentalist group “The Returning to the Mount,” which advocates the construction of a “Third Jewish temple” in al-Haram al-Sharif, the third holiest place in Islam, and is associated with the racist Kach group, announced this week that it plans to sacrifice animals as part of the Jewish Passover rituals on Friday in al-Haram.

 

In response, Hamas declared that it will not allow such rituals to take place and will prevent them “at any cost”. The Palestinian Authority and the Jordanian government also condemned the plans. Last February, the group, pretending to be Muslims, entered al-Haram al-Sharif and prayed there.

 

In view of the announcement of the animal sacrifices, the Jordanian-appointed director of the mosque issued a decision banning Muslim worshippers from remaining in isolation in the mosque, a common devotional practice for Muslim worshippers during Ramadan, until the last 10 days of Ramadan, that is, after the end of the passover.

 

Still, Palestinian worshippers insisted on remaining in the mosque last night to prevent the extremist group from entering al-Haram and were attacked this morning by Israeli security who injured more than one hundred worshippers.

A religious prohibition

 

After the 1967 conquest of East Jerusalem by the Israelis, Israel‘s then defence minister, Moshe Dayan, decided to allow the Palestinian-turned-Jordanian Waqf (religious endowment), which always administered al-Haram al-Sharif, or what Jews call “The Temple Mount,” to continue to administer it.

 

Israel’s Ashkenazi and Sephardi chief rabbis, along with hundreds of other rabbis, issued a Halachic ruling that it was forbidden for Jews to enter the area, let alone pray there, as that would be in violation of Jewish religious law, or Halacha, on account of the “impurity” of all Jews after the destruction of the Second Temple.

 

Even the fundamentalist rabbis, disciples of the zealot Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Kook, many of whose followers became religious settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem after 1967, agreed with the religious prohibition.

 

Nonetheless, some of the extreme non-religious Zionist groups, especially those associated with the pre-state terrorist group Lehi, argued that the rabbis were wrong and that Jews should build a synagogue there. In 1969, an Australian Christian fundamentalist set fire to al-Aqsa Mosque and was arrested by the Israelis, alleged to be mentally ill, and deported years later.

 

It would be Shlomo Goren, the rabbi of the Israeli army, however, who in 1973 would become Israel’s chief Ashkenazi rabbi and who would weigh in more heavily on the matter. Goren argued that Jews could visit and pray in the areas of the ancient temple that had been expanded at the end of the Second Temple period, and that this would not be in violation of Halacha.

 

He argued that there was evidence that Jews had built a permanent prayer site on the “Mount” until the 16thcentury, a claim that historians contest.

 

In his zeal to allow Jews access to the Muslim shrines, Goren correctly claimed that the Western Wall had not been a Jewish prayer site until the 17th century and even then on account of Ottoman restrictions on Jewish worship elsewhere in al-Haram al-Sharif area.

The US Military Is Training Third World Coup Leaders Again

 

Americans should be experiencing an uneasy sense of déjà vu. In the last two years, U.S.-trained officers have overthrown West African governments at least four times. There are indications that other graduates have undermined civilian governments in other portions of the continent. But U.S. military officials have been less than informative. US Africa Command (AFRICOM) can’t explain why there has been a surge in coups. Indeed, AFRICOM insists that it doesn’t even know how often they’ve happened. That position reflects convenient ignorance, at best.

 

Maj. Gen. Andrew M. Rohling, the commander of US Army Southern European Task Force, Africa, insists that the Pentagon’s objective is to "showcase a way, the American way, that we train and build leaders not only in their tactical tasks, but in the ethos of the United States Army." But as analyst Nick Turse, a fellow at The Nation Institute, observes, those values have been lacking in Africa, especially in West Africa, "where U.S.-trained officers have attempted at least nine coups (and succeeded in at least eight) across five West African countries, including Burkina Faso (three times), Guinea, Mali (three times), Mauritania, and the Gambia. The four most recent coups by US trainees have occurred in Burkina Faso (2022), Guinea (2021) and twice in Mali (2020 and 2021)."

 

The latest cases of officers who had received US military training going on to stage an epidemic of coups in Africa is reminiscent of the long, odious history of the School of the Americas (SOA). The US Army established that training center in 1946 at Fort Benning, Georgia. The curriculum emphasized the most up-to-date military tactics, especially in counterinsurgency warfare. But that was not the sole mission of the school. In addition to core military training, the goal supposedly was to educate officers from allied countries in Latin America about the importance of democratic values and civilian control of the military. During the next 54 years, the SOA trained more than 63,000 soldiers from 21 countries,

 

It is not certain whether US officials were sincere about promoting a commitment to democracy, or whether that stated objective was merely cynical propaganda. In any case, the results were appallingly bad. A December 2000 ABC News story by investigative reporter Barbara Starr noted that "The list of graduates from the School of the Americas is a who’s who of Latin American despots. Students have included Manuel Noriega and Omar Torrijos of Panama, Leopoldo Galtieri of Argentina, and Hugo Banzer Suarez of Bolivia."

Lawrence Ray, 62, was convicted at a trial where weeks of testimony chronicled his psychologically manipulative relationship with young people he met in fall 2010 at Sarah Lawrence College, a small New York liberal arts school. Ray moved into his daughter's dorm after finishing a prison stint for a securities fraud conviction.

 

Sentencing was set for Sept. 16 on charges including racketeering, conspiracy, forced labor, sex trafficking and obstruction of justice. Ray, who stood with his arms at his side and faced the Manhattan jury as guilty verdicts were returned on 15 counts, could face up to life in prison.

 

After the verdict was read, Ray was returned to custody, where he had been since his early 2020 arrest.

 

His lawyers declined comment outside court and did not immediately return email messages seeking comment.

 

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said Ray had changed "a group of friends who had their whole lives ahead of them."

 

"For the next decade, he used violence, threats, and psychological abuse to try to control and destroy their lives," Williams said. "He exploited them. He terrorized them. He tortured them. Let me be very clear. Larry Ray is a predator. An evil man who did evil things. Today’s verdict finally brings him to justice."

 

Jurors concluded deliberations less than a day after receiving the case following a monthlong trial that featured testimony from numerous victims who usually referred to Ray just as "Larry." Some testified that Ray had made them believe they had poisoned or otherwise harmed him and they needed to pay him back.

 

One woman testified that she became a sex worker to try to pay reparations to Ray after becoming convinced that she had poisoned him. She said that, over four years, she gave Ray $2.5 million in installments that averaged between $10,000 and $50,000 per week.

 

Ray's lawyers maintained he was victimized by former friends who fabricated their stories.

 

Ray did not testify. Twice, the trial was interrupted as he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance for undisclosed illnesses.

 

Several students testified that they were drawn into Ray's world as he told them stories of his past influence in New York City politics, including his role in ruining the career of former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik after serving as the best man at his wedding years earlier. Ray had, in fact, been a figure in the corruption investigation that derailed Kerik's nomination to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

 

Some of the students agreed to live with Ray in the summer of 2011 at his Manhattan one-bedroom apartment, where his sinister side emerged as he started to claim that the students had poisoned and harmed him or his property.

 

To make amends, they testified, they did what he asked, including turning over money. One man said he gave Ray over $100,000.

 

Prosecutors said the money was never enough. Through threats and violence and videotaped "confessions," Ray tightened his hold on the young people, including forcing them to Do landscaping and other work at the Pinehurst, North Carolina home of his stepfather for weeks in 2013, they said.

 

The abuse culminated in October 2018 when Ray for hours repeatedly abused the woman who gave him her proceeds from sex work, forcing her to be tied naked to a chair while he berated her, choked her with a leash and made her fear for her life by putting a bag over her head, prosecutors said.

 

Ray carried out his crimes with help from his daughter and Isabella Pollok, a woman who has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges, prosecutors said. Her trial is set for later this year. The daughter has not been charged.

US to Start Training Ukrainians on Howitzers in Coming Days

A senior Pentagon official told Reuters on Monday that the US plans to start training Ukrainians on how to use howitzers in the coming days. The official said that the training would take place outside of Ukraine.

 

The US is giving Ukraine howitzers for the first time as part of a new $800 million weapons package that was announced last week. When announcing the new aid, the Pentagon said the Ukrainians would need training on the howitzers and on advanced radar systems that are also part of the package.

 

So far, the US has sent four flights to deliver the new weapons. Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, the US has pledged about $2.6 billion in military aid for Ukraine and has delivered the arms rapidly via Eastern European NATO countries that border Ukraine.

 

The Pentagon official who spoke with Reuters did not elaborate on where the training will take place outside of Ukraine, but it’s likely it will be in an Eastern European country. Earlier this month, Lithuania announced a plan to start training Ukrainian forces on its territory.

 

On Friday, The Times reported British Special Air Service (SAS) soldiers are inside Ukraine training Ukrainian forces on anti-tank weapons that have been provided by London. The SAS deployment is the first known NATO troop presence in Ukraine since Russia invaded and risks provoking Moscow.

 

Last week, in a diplomatic letter to the State Department, Russia formally warned the US and NATO to stop arming Ukraine. Russian officials have also warned they would target Western arms shipments entering Ukraine. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian airstrikes destroyed a large number of foreign-made weapons stored at a Ukrainian military logistics center near Lviv on Monday.

In the book of Ezekiel we have the missionary prophets denunciation of the sins of the House of Judah with whose King (Jehoiachin) , and Court officials Ezekiel was carried captive to Babylon. (II Kings XXIV, 14 -16, Ezekiel 1, 2)

 

The prophet covers a wide field for he sees in a vision the whole House of Israel, twelve tribed Israel, revived and restored to God’s favour. The home training of Ezekiel in the house of his father, Buzi, had one object and that was missions to Israel.

As he journeyed towards their camping places his name Buzi became Buddha; this change is easily understood when we realise that in the Semitic languages the “Z” and “D” sounds are related, e.g., in Hebrew Zahab and Dahab both mean “gold” and so Buddha would be a natural alternative for Buzi. Georgia Declares a State of Emergency Over Supply Chain Shortages

 

Things have apparently gotten so bad in Georgia that the governor has now declared that the state is living under a state of emergency due to supply chain shortages.

 

Republican Brian Kemp decreed this executive order on April 14, stating that covid was the reason for all economic distress and supply chain issues within the state of Georgia. Kemp locked down Georgia at the beginning of 2020, and Georgians received another notification in November 2020 that they would be locked down again for another two months.

 

The unconstitutional lockdowns aren’t mentioned within the executive order as being the cause of the economic woes of the people of Georgia.

Does Kemp now have unlimited powers?

 

From the wording of his executive order, it appears so.

 

As he cites within the order, Code Section 38-3-28 says that “all orders, rules, and regulations promulgated by the Governor” have the force and effect of law. This gives the appearance that Georgia is no longer ruled by law but instead by decree.

 

The order cites Code Section 38-3-51, saying that Kemp now gets to “assume direct operational control of all civil forces and helpers in the state” and that he can do whatever is “necessary to promote and secure the safety and protection of the civilian population.”

 

At the moment, do the three branches of government exist within the state of Georgia? From the wording of this executive order, it appears as if there is the executive branch, and that is it.

Price gouging is now considered to be illegal.

 

No specific rate of markup is defined to delineate what exactly price gouging is. I suppose that this is left up to the discretion of whoever shows up to enforce this new order? Will the shop owner have to prove how much he paid for an item to avoid being fined and/or being sent to jail? Will shop owners be forced to accept lower profit margins than they are used to in order to avoid being labeled a price gouger? What will this do for businesses?

 

To help with the supply chain problems, it was apparently thought that there needed to be longer hours for truckers. Part 395 of Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations – the part that dictates how many hours a semi-truck driver can operate his rig has now been removed from Georgia as well. A clause was added to explicitly state that no carrier could force any of their truck drivers to work when they were either ill or fatigued as well.

 

At the very bottom of this executive order, Kemp added that if any part of the order is found to be “in violation of the Georgia Constitution, in violation of Georgia law, or unenforceable in any respect, such invalidity, violation, or unenforceability shall not affect any other provisions of this Order, but, in such case, this Order shall be construed as if such invalid, illegal, or unenforceable provision had never been contained within the Order.”

 

As things stand, this state of emergency is slated to last for the next 30 days unless things magically get better in Georgia before then, in which case, the order will be lifted early.

According to Dr. D.B. Spooner, Siddartha Gautama’s mother, the Lady Maya, was of Iranian or Persian descent, the country where Buzi (Buddha) laid the foundation of his system, and from whom Siddartha Gautama would undoubtedly receive his knowledge of Buddhism.

Each of the four Torans or gateways at Sanchi is formed by two upright pillars nearly six yards high and ten feet apart surmounted by pinnacles of the usual Buddhist emblems of the Wheel and Trident while the ground plan forms their gigantic mystic cross. The cast, of one is to he seen in the court of the South Kensington Museum.

 

Buddhist legends form the basis of the old nursery tales and rhymes all over Europe as well as the lives of Roman Catholic saints, who have much other-wise in common with Buddhism (see” Bhilsa Tones” and “The Stupa of Bharut” by Major-General Cunningham, C.S.I.,G.I.E.,R.E., Director of the Archaeological Survey of India) .

 

We shall now consider the emblems of Buddhism, all of which are of Hebrew origin and significance introduced by Buzi, the first, and original Buddha. The Union Jack or Union of Jacob with the cross known in a later age as the cross of St. George may be seen on the large tope or tumulus at Sanchi, with the Star Banner of the United States and Britannia’s Trident and Shield, while the Lion and Unicorn may be seen crouching in peace at Buddha’s feet, as he sits on his marble throne at the entrance to the vast rock temple at Ajanta.

Defense Minister Benny Gantz warned Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday that steps Israel has taken to boost its economy are being threatened by terror groups ramping up incitement and launching rockets attacks.

 

There have been violent clashes between Palestinians and police in recent days at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, which sits atop the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel has accused terror groups of inciting the clashes over what it says are false claims that the long-standing policy of not allowing Jews to pray in the area has been changed.

 

“As I have also told leaders from countries in the region, we are maintaining the status quo on the Temple Mount, and we will not allow terrorists or provocateurs to harm the holy places,” Gantz said during a tour of a Border Police base in the West Bank.

 

Many Jews head to the Western Wall and the Old City during the current weeklong Passover holiday. Non-Muslims can only visit the Temple Mount during certain hours and are officially barred from praying at the site, which is considered the holiest in Judaism and the third-holiest in Islam.

 

However, recent reports have shown that police sometimes turn a blind eye to such prayers taking place.

 

In a statement released by his office, Gantz mentioned a rocket attack from Gaza on southern Israel on Monday evening. “Yesterday, the Israel Defense Forces struck Gaza following [rocket] fire into Israeli territory, for which Hamas leaders are responsible,” he said.

 

“The IDF is ready with a wide range of means and targets, to ensure that peace and stability will continue,” Gantz warned.

 

“If the incitement and [rocket] fire continue, the terror organizations will be severely harmed, as will the residents of Gaza, who are currently benefiting from the moves we have taken to develop the economy,” Gantz added.

 

Israel recently okayed increasing the number of Palestinians who can enter Israel for work to the highest quota since a blockade was imposed on the coastal enclave more than 15 years ago.

 

“These are moves we are planning to expand if stability is maintained, or we can roll them back, if the leaders of Hamas choose to hurt them,” Gantz added.

 

On Monday, before the rocket attack, the secretary-general of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group dismissed apparent threats to end such measures.

 

“The enemy’s threats to stop facilitations for Gaza cannot make us remain silent about what is happening in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank,” Ziad Nakhala said in a brief statement.

I think the tendency for isolated independence is the biggest weakness for a republic centered on the principle of liberty. Easily dissected by controlling the message at various levels. This drop was such a brilliant break down of this point. The only real way to combat that is with Free Speech. Rigorous, logic-centered debate on the public square is needed, but participation is needed for best results. As a personal curiosity, I'd love to see the real numbers from the last election for a better idea as to the progress that's been made for engagement.

 

I will forever be grateful to him and his entire family for what they sacrificed, faced with what had to seem like an insurmountable series of goals and accomplishments not just for the USA and its people, but the whole world. The countless service members and civilian strategists that had to be assembled to pull this off (and sheer years of planning) deserve our unending respect and recognition. These visionaries did the impossible, and steered humanity's destiny by sheer force of will and strategy.

 

You are right; the defense of liberty and the greatest Republic to have ever existed is a never-ending journey, and adherence to the principals to make it work should be a constant reminder for future generations to come. We should also be vigorous in exploring the human condition for where improvements can be made in mind, body, and soul. A proper Republic would nurture an environment where that endeavor, most critical to the furtherance of humanity, can thrive without consequence. I am anxious to see where the result of the current struggles land on the conscious of the observant, the impatient, and the dissidents as the next stage in our journey begins. Secretly recorded call adds to controversy swirling around Cawthorn

 

A former district staff member for Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) is accusing him of improperly firing her after denying her family and medical leave, allegations the lawmaker and his office have vehemently denied.

 

At one point during the call, Lisa Wiggins, who was a caseworker for the 26-year-old first-term representative in his district office for over a year, described that office as having “more liquor bottles than they do water bottles.”

 

Cawthorn’s office insinuated that the allegations, made in a secretly recorded and released conversation with the head of an anti-Cawthorn PAC, were politically motivated, and hinted at potential counteraction by saying that they constitute “defamation of character.”

 

Wiggins unloaded about Cawthorn in a call with David Wheeler, the president of the anti-Cawthorn American Muckrakers PAC more commonly known as Fire Madison Cawthorn, accusing him of “denying me my FMLA” leave when her uncle died and her husband suffered a heart attack the same week.

 

Wiggins did not know the call was being recorded, and Wheeler assured her that there was no way Cawthorn could know that they talked. North Carolina has a “one-party consent” state wiretapping law, allowing just one person who is party to a conversation to record it without the knowledge of the other party.

 

Wiggins, who was not ready to share her personal story and was shell-shocked at statements she made in confidence being made public, declined to elaborate on the accusations or confirm that a workplace complaint had been filed against Cawthorn when reached by The Hill on Monday.

 

But Wiggins did confirm that she is working for a GOP challenger to Cawthorn, retired Army Col. Rod Honeycutt. She started supporting Honeycutt’s campaign after Cawthorn had said he would run in a new adjacent district before switching back to the district encompassing most of his current western Appalachian territory.

 

“​​It’s not as though I was just working for him against Cawthorn. Cawthorn was no longer going to be working in this district. And he also gave me blessing to do so when he left the district,” Wiggins told The Hill.

Netherlands sends heavy weapons to Ukraine — Prime Minister

 

On February 24, the Russian president said that in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics, he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation in Ukraine.

 

The Netherlands already sends armored vehicles to Ukraine and considers sending additional heavy weapons, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte tweeted Tuesday after the phone call with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

 

"In a call with [Zelensky], [Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren] and I expressed our support as Russia begins a renewed offensive. The Netherlands will be sending heavier materiel to Ukraine, including armored vehicles. Along with allies, we are looking into supplying additional heavy materiel."

Bribe Payments Flow from Illinois Dem’s Campaign Account

 

Democratic congresswoman Marie Newman (Ill.) paid another $24,500 in donor funds to a political rival she bribed to keep out of her primary race.

 

Newman's disbursements to Palestinian activist and terrorist sympathizer Iymen Chehade came over a three-month period, from January to March 2022, the Democrat's latest campaign finance disclosure shows. Newman has paid Chehade nearly $80,000 since the pair settled a breach of contract lawsuit in late June, which stemmed from an employment agreement Newman signed promising Chehade a six-figure job in her office in exchange for his commitment not to run against her.

 

After the Washington Free Beacon reported on those payments, fellow Illinois Democrat Sean Casten—who is running against Newman in the state's Sixth Congressional District—called on Newman to release the details of her settlement with Chehade. But the ongoing scandal does more than jeopardize Newman's political standing in the race. Federal law prohibits a candidate from promising employment "for the purpose of procuring political support," and the House Office of Congressional Ethics says it has "substantial reason to believe" Newman did just that.

 

"Public service is a trust, and our entire democracy is jeopardized when voters have reason to believe that any elected officials are placing our personal self-interest above the public good," Casten said in a statement. "It has been over five months since the nonpartisan Office of Congressional Ethics unanimously voted to further the investigation into Marie Newman. Five months of silence is unacceptable. It is time for her to level with the public."

 

Newman's campaign claims its payments to Chehade stem merely from his role as its "director of foreign policy and research." Less than a year ago, however, the campaign publicly disparaged Chehade, calling him "disrespectful," "very hard to get along with," and "ill-suited for a senior role in a congressional office."

 

Under federal campaign finance rules, Newman must pay Chehade for "bona fide services" at a rate that does not exceed "fair market value." Newman's arrangement with the activist may not fit that description. When the Chicago Sun-Times asked Newman to provide examples of Chehade's work, the outlet received just 21 pages of foreign policy briefings, meaning Chehade earned thousands of dollars per page. Chehade is also running his own congressional campaign in a nearby Illinois district, casting doubt on his ability to work significant hours for Newman. Despite those limitations, Chehade is by far the Newman campaign's highest-paid staffer.

 

In addition to Chehade's work for the Newman campaign, the activist serves as an adjunct professor at Columbia College Chicago. In 2015, Chehade helped facilitate a panel that brought Rasmea Odeh to campus. A convicted terrorist, Odeh was sentenced to life in prison for her role in a 1969 Jerusalem bombing that killed two college students. In a now-deleted tweet, Chehade praised her as "extraordinary."

 

Newman and Casten are set to square off at the polls in late June. Casten holds a significant financial advantage—he has $2 million on hand to Newman's $500,000.

Reports Of OSCE Aiding Ukrainian Military Could Damage Its Reputation

 

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, better known by its acronym OSCE is, per its own definition, the world’s largest regional security-oriented intergovernmental organization with observer status at the United Nations. Its mandate includes issues such as arms control, early warning, conflict prevention, crisis management, post-conflict rehabilitation, promotion of human rights, freedom of the press, and free and fair elections. It employs around 3,460 people, mostly in its field operations, but also in its secretariat in Vienna, Austria, and its institutions. Most of its 57 participating countries are in Europe, but there are also members present in Asia and North America. The participating states cover nearly all of the Global North.

 

These self-describing definitions would make you think that OSCE cannot possibly be anything but a force for good. After all, in short, this should be their stated mission. Well, the war in Donbass, which has been going on for nearly a decade now, and which has taken the lives of around 15,000 local men, women and children, has pushed the role of OSCE into more of a gray area, especially in light of recent revelations.

 

OSCE’s mission in Donbass, which the organization itself claims to be “arms control, promotion of human rights, early warning, conflict prevention, crisis management” has already failed. In fact, it has continually been failing for 8 years now, because how else could you call the fact that the Ukrainian shelling of the people of Donbass never stopped. Worse yet, former president of the post-Maidan Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko once openly stated that “our kids will be going to school freely, while their kids will be hiding in basements”. So much for the “president of all Ukrainians”. OSCE never reacted to such statements.

 

Needless to say, OSCE’s “post-conflict rehabilitation” not only failed (since it failed to achieve any of its previous goals), but is highly unlikely to ever be conducted by OSCE, given that the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics have effectively banned the organization and ordered it to leave their territory. Now, why would the leadership make such a move? Hasn’t OSCE been helping for the last 8 years? Well, it turns out that they didn’t just do anything to prevent the conflict from raging for the last 8 years, but they might have even done certain things to facilitate it.

 

In a rather disturbing revelation by war correspondent Alexander Sladkov, OSCE has used high-resolution cameras, originally placed to conduct ceasefire monitoring, to relay DNR and LNR positions to the Ukrainian military which would then use the provided data to target or correct their artillery fire at the DNR and LNR forces. Sladkov further explains how the OSCE mission in Donbass provided the Armed Forces of Ukraine with their observation data, captured by cameras and other monitoring equipment they installed over the last 8 years.

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham is getting married, and Vice President Kamala Harris has been picked to officiate.

The first-term Democratic governor made the announcement through her personal spokesman Tuesday, saying a small ceremony will be held May 21 in Washington, D.C. No other details about the upcoming ceremony were released.

Lujan Grisham, who is running for reelection, will be tying the knot with her fiancé Manny Cordova. The couple has been together about 10 years, and Cordova was at her side during an inaugural Mass in Santa Fe before her public swearing in ceremony on Jan. 1, 2019.

“We’re delighted to celebrate our wedding in front of family and close friends,” Lujan Grisham and Cordova said in a joint statement. “Like so many New Mexicans, we’ve postponed family celebrations over the past two years during this pandemic. We feel fortunate to be with our loved ones in celebration of our marriage.”

The couple was initially planning to get married in 2021 but had not set a date, said Jared Leopold, a spokesman for Lujan Grisham.

Both Lujan Grisham, 62, and Cordova, 66, were previously married and have adult children and grandchildren. Lujan Grisham was married to her first husband, Gregory Grisham, for more than 20 years until his death in 2004.

The son of ranchers, Cordova grew up in a rural community south of Albuquerque. He owns an auto repair shop in Santa Fe.

Leopold said Lujan Grisham and Cordova also plan to celebrate their marriage in an event for family and friends in northern New Mexico in late May.

Abramovich Owned Stake in Company that Won U.S. Gov’t Contracts

 

Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich has hit headlines since Russia invaded Ukraine. Billions of his assets have been frozen by a court in Jersey. French authorities have seized a US$120 million mansion he owns on the Riviera coast. And the fate of his U.K. Premier League football club, Chelsea, has been front-page news around the world.

 

But the Russian billionaire’s investment in an American pharmaceutical company that received funding from both the U.S. and Russian governments has garnered far less attention.

 

From 2011 until at least the end of 2021, Abramovich was an important stakeholder in Cleveland BioLabs, Inc. and its successor, Statera Biopharma, Inc. Based in Buffalo, New York, the companies have spent years developing Entolimod, an anti-cancer drug that can be used to fight the effects of radiation exposure.

 

“It would be a stockpiling agent,” Michael Handley, Statera’s CEO, told the pharmaceutical trade publication Endpoints News in December 2021. “So governments, including the U.S. government and around the world, would order it and stockpile it in case of God forbid, a nuclear reactor meltdown or even worse, nuclear warfare.”

 

Public records show that in its early years, Cleveland lobbied hard for U.S. government contracts, employing six different firms to press its case in Washington, D.C. between 2008 and 2013. Since 2010, the company has spent more than $400,000 on lobbying, according to analysis by the Anti-Corruption Data Collective, a nonprofit group of journalists and data scientists.

 

“They were actually pretty aggressive on the lobbying front, on par with the major players,” a lobbyist who worked for one of the six firms Cleveland hired told OCCRP, speaking on condition of anonymity.

 

That lobbying soon paid off. In September 2010, Cleveland was awarded a nearly $5.4 million research contract by the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command.

 

Abramovich invested in Cleveland the following year, though it’s unclear exactly how much. In a later regulatory filing the company said he had provided $10.5 million, with the right to increase his investment up to $30 million.

 

A representative of Cleveland’s successor company, Statera, confirmed Abramovich was an investor as of the end of last year, but would not give any more details. The oligarch’s London-based spokesperson wouldn’t comment either.

 

Cleveland won another $9.8 million contract from the Defense Department’s Joint Warfighter Medical Research Program in 2015, receiving a total of $15.8 million from the U.S. government that year. In a March 2020 regulatory filing, the company said U.S. state contracts accounted for 81.2 percent of revenues that year, and 64.5 percent in 2019.

United States congressmen on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence received information at a Capitol Hill briefing on multiple shooters carrying out the Las Vegas mass shooting attack on October 1, 2017, with Antifa and ISIS involvement. The report states that Stephen Paddock did not actually commit suicide but was executed by others, pointing to Antifa and ISIS involvement and FBI foreknowledge of the attack. Cawthorn not allowing her to take FMLA, doubtful really.

 

Family Medical Leave Act, allows for an employee to take up to three months off for their own serious sickness or a close family member (with our without pay). But there are caveats of what an employee/employer can or cannot do.

 

Cawthorn didn't allow her to FMLA???

First: FMLA is mandated for employer groups with over 50 employees and public schools any size. (not under 50 full or part time employee), it's doubtful Cawthorn has 50 employees under him. But I doubt he's considered the employer also.(don't know).

 

Second: If he is not the employer, who is? It seems like all congress people would be part of one group, therefore the group would be over 50, but house employees would be under the HR dept of the house, and they would make the decision and not a decision that Cawthorn makes.

 

There are also requirement of the employee to be employed for up to at least 12 months and they must have worked a minimum of 1250 hours in that 12 months. Maybe she met neither of these requirement.

 

But in all cases the employer can deny the leave for a number of reasons

-one is, they can't keep the job open for up to three months and return the employee to their same or similar position, including pay

-they can't promise a full time position

-Its up to the employer if they can do this, not just because a person asks

-The employee must formally submit paperwork proactively, if she just verbally asked, it's not what the law requires her to do; and then get a signed document with the employer approval or disapproving it.

-The employer is not required to initiate an FMLA claim, it's the employee, if there is not an approved by the employer statement, she is not eligible for the FMLA requirements.

 

Unless she has proof he personally signed and denied the leave then she has no proof and it's a rumor.

 

FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act). I doubt he would have denied it, because this is a federal law and an employer can be sued by the Federal Dept of Labor if he promised the leave and denied it or any components of it, but as stated before there are a number of reasons and employer can legally deny it.
