The next 34 years and beyond

Each year, I find it a privilege to write to you to reflect on the past and look ahead to the future.

This year, I do it as a shocking series of events unfold in Eastern Europe. The magnitude of Russiaโ€™s actions will play out for decades to come and mark a turning point in the world order of geopolitics, macro-economic trends, and capital markets.

This already happened. A guy got popped for election interference for telling people they could vote for Hillary in 2016 via text or hashtag on Twitter. Frankly, anyone who believed voting via text message or hashtag shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Propaganda narrative targeting Gen. Qassem Soleimani debunked

 

A video clip that was claimed to be a โ€œleaked" proof of Iranโ€™s relation to โ€œIsraelโ€ depicts the former commander of the Quds Force, martyr Qasem Soleimani, during a meeting with a group of people. With no proof, the publishers used propaganda to write a storyline that these men at the table with Soleimeni are Israeli intelligence officers and the context is โ€œa secret meeting.โ€

 

Agence France-Presse reported that the video, in fact, was previously published in several Iranian news agencies, and shows Soleimani's meeting with Iranian film director Nader Talebzadeh in 2018. Thus, the video is not โ€œleakedโ€ nor does it appear to be linked to elements of a secret meeting since it has been previously published by Iranian platforms.

 

In the video, a man with a white beard appears to be walking toward a table where a number of people are sitting, including the former commander of the Quds Force, and they greet each other. The propaganda narrative has taken to Twitter where an individual has captioned the video: "After Israel declassified Iranโ€ฆ Soleimani's meeting with the intelligence of the Zionist entity in a leaked video."

 

The video received thousands of interactions on social media, especially on Twitter, despite the French agencyโ€™s insistence that they are skeptical regarding both the location of the video and the narrative in which it has been spotlighted. AFP confirmed that the video was published on the websites of several Iranian agencies, which removes the suspicion of "leakage" altogether.

 

Furthermore, several elements, according to AFP, raised the suspicion that the video was not actually a "leak", as the hall in which it was filmed appears equipped for an occasion, and a number of people appear to be sitting at separate tables in a show of counter productiveness to a โ€œsecret meetingโ€.

 

In a more logical explanation, the individuals, or some of them, have been identified. For example, at the beginning of the clip, director Talebzadeh is shown greeting Iranian director Ibrahim Hatami Kia.

 

Who is Talebzadeh?

 

Nader Talebzadeh was known for his distinctive sharpness in cinema and film writing, directing many award-winning documentaries and movies. In 2007, he produced a feature-length movie, "The Messiah", which received many accolades.

 

He lived and documented the Iran-Iraq war, as well as documented the Balkan wars in the 90s.

 

In 2019, the US State Department sanctioned Talebzadeh and his wife, Zeinab Mehanna, for establishing the New Horizons Conferences, a yearly cultural event that binds non-Muslim and non-Iranian thinkers at the annual event that sheds light on US and Israeli hegemonic policies and war crimes. The director passed away on April 29 of this year, leaving behind a rich cultural and artistic heritage.

Moreover, the Iranian writer and researcher Hamid Daoud Abadi had previously written about this meeting. He explained that at the time, the two men met, as shown in the video, at "the wedding of the daughter of Ehsan Muhammad Hassani, head of Oj Media Art."

 

Abadi recounts how Hassani seated him at the table of martyr Soleimani, adding that the "Director Ibrahim Hatami Kia, writer Gulali Babai, head of the Office of Resistance Literature and Arts Mortada Sarhangi, and head of the artistic department Mohsen Momeni" were also seated at the same at the table where the martyr was seated.

 

As such, the deconstruction of the Israeli narrative seeking to create sow doubt where none exists has been completed. The video is real, the narrative is a fabrication of a fictitious mind that has lost the battle psychologically and has no doubt any military battle will come at a very high price.

 

On January 3rd, 2020 the commander of the Quds Force, General Qasem Soleimani, and the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, were martyred by a US missile strike near Baghdad International Airport in what was a cowardly assassination.

According to Forbes, Ukrainian forces are set to receive an uncrewed ground vehicle (UGV) called "GNOM" that is no bigger than a standard microwave and weighs around 110lbs.

 

GNOM isn't radio-controlled and has a 2,000 meter (1.25 mile) spool of fiber-optic cable mounted on the rear that offers operators a jam-proof way to control it on the modern battlefield without being detected or signal jammed by Russian electronic warfare equipment.

 

"Control of GNOM is possible in the most aggressive environment during the operation of the enemy's electronic warfare equipment.

 

"The operator doesn't deploy a control station with an antenna, and does not unmask his position. The cable is not visible, and it also does not create thermal radiation that could be seen by a thermal imager," said Eduard Trotsenko, CEO and owner of Temerland, the maker of the GNOM.

 

"While it is usually operated by remote control, GNOM clearly has some onboard intelligence and is capable of autonomous navigation. Previous Temerland designs have included advanced neural network and machine learning hardware and software providing a high degree of autonomy, so the company seems to have experience," Forbes said.

 

The 7.62mm machinegun mounted on top of the "Terminator-style" robot will provide fire support for Ukrainian forces in dangerous areas. The UGV can also transport ammunition or other supplies to the front lines and even evacuate wounded soldiers with a special trailer.

Oโ€™DONNELL: Janet Yellen, who you know, the chairman of the Federal Reserve blasted you for saying that the U.S. could load up on debt and then make a deal with creditors if the economy has soured. She said there would be very severe consequences if an elected president tried to renegotiate the nationโ€™s debt.

As I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People and in its fictional counterpart The Erik Blair Diaries, the problems we are facing will not be fixed overnight: that is the grim reality with which we must contend.

 

Yet that does not mean we should give up or give in or tune out. What we need to do is declare our independence from the tyranny of the American police state.

But with no diplomatic representation in the country it is reliant on Qatar, which maintains relations with the Taliban, to make arrangements to fly Afghans out of the country en route to the U.S.

 

Four sources told NBC News that Qatar is buying plane tickets in bulk from Ariana Afghan Airlines, the countryโ€™s state-owned airline.

 

The airline flies twice a week to Doha, with tickets costing around $480 a seat.

 

From there, the U.S. arranges onward flights.

 

Any suggestion that American taxpayers money is going to the Taliban will be embarrassing to the Biden administration, which has refused to recognize the new government in Kabul.

 

The Taliban suspended refugee flights in January, reportedly angered by the way they were characterized as evacuation flights. But some 2,500 Afghans en route to the U.S. have reportedly flown out since the flights resumed two months ago.

 

'The United States remains committed to supporting American citizens, lawful permanent residents and our Afghan allies and their families who are eligible to relocate to the United States,' a State Department spokesperson said.

 

'This is an enduring effort, and the State Department continues to support travel for these individuals out of Afghanistan at this time.'

Trump evidently has heard the two key messages from his constituency: that they neither accept to have (white) American culture and its way-of-life diluted through immigration; and neither do they wish โ€“ stoically โ€“ to accommodate to Americaโ€™s eclipse by China.

The issue of how to arrest Chinaโ€™s rise is primordial (for Team Trump), and in a certain sense has led to an American โ€˜retrospectiveโ€™: America now may only account for 14% of global output (PPP โ€“ Purchasing Power Parity basis), or 22% on a nominal basis (as opposed to near half of global output, for which the US was responsible at the close of WW2), but American corporations, thanks to the dollar global hegemony, enjoy a type of monopoly status (i.e. Microsoft, Google and Facebook amongst others), either through regulatory privilege or by marketplace dominance. Trump wants to halt this asset from decaying further and to leverage it again as a potent bargaining chip in the present tariff wars. This is clearly a political โ€˜winnerโ€™ in terms of US domestic grass-roots, politics, and the upcoming November mid-term elections.

 

The second strand seems to be something of a Middle East โ€˜retrospectiveโ€™: to restore the Middle East to the era of The Shah, when โ€˜Persiaโ€™ policed the Middle East; when Israel was a regional โ€˜powerโ€™ implementing the American interest; and when the major sources of energy were under US control. And, further, when Russian influence was being attenuated, by leveraging radical Sunni Islam against Arab socialism and nationalism.

Israel Nixes Youth Holocaust Ed Missions to Poland Over Security Dispute

The Education Ministry instructed schools to cancel all upcoming summer trips, for which 7,000 Israeli pupils had already registered

The Education Ministry has announced that it is cancelling youth missions to Poland that were scheduled to take place in July and August, following a dispute with the Polish government over security.

Haaretz has learned that the dispute related to the carrying of weapons by Israeli security personnel on Polish soil. The ministry instructed schools to cancel all summer trips, for which 7,000 pupils had already registered.

The ministryโ€™s director-general Dalit Stauber said on Tuesday that along with the dispute over security, there are also some controversial issues regarding the content of these trips. โ€œFor several years, Poland has been trying to write the history of the Holocaust in a slightly different manner. Israel is negotiating with Poland over this issue, in the meantime precluding these trips from continuing,โ€ said Stauber in an interview she gave to Kan Radioโ€™s Reshet Bet. She added that the Foreign Ministry and other relevant agencies were trying to resolve the matter.

Youth missions to Poland resumed last March after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, with around one thousand pupils visiting in the spring. The number of pupils participating in these trips has grown over the years, reaching 40,000 a year before the pandemic began. The increase was partly enabled by distribution of stipends by the Ministry of Education, as well as lower trip costs โ€“ about 5,00 shekels (approximately $1,440) per student in recent years.

Two years ago, the Education Ministry launched an alternative program for high school students who did not go on these trips due to the pandemic. This included a trip lasting several days to Holocaust and national rebirth commemoration sites in Israel, including a camp commemorating illegal immigrants during the British Mandate, located in Atlit, and kibbutzim built by Holocaust survivors.

The program is still defined as a pilot project, and only a few pupils have participated in it so far. However, the financing of this new program is not anchored in the ministryโ€™s budget, and every budget cut puts it at risk.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia โ€“ Anti-death penalty activists in Malaysia urged Singapore's government on Monday to halt the execution of a convicted Malaysian drug trafficker this week, the second in less than three months.

Kalwant Singh, who was convicted in 2016 of bringing heroin into Singapore, is scheduled to be hanged Thursday, activists said. The execution of another Malaysian in late April sparked an international outcry because he was believed to be mentally disabled.

The Anti-Death Penalty Asia Network delivered a statement to Singapore's embassy urging that Kalwantโ€™s execution be suspended to allow him an opportunity to file for clemency.

It said Kalwant, who was 23 when he was arrested in 2013, had been threatened with violence and forced to make drug deliveries to Singapore to repay a football gambling debt, and that factor was not adequately considered during his trial.

It said the death penalty has done little to stop drug traffickers and organized syndicates.

โ€œThe government of Singaporeโ€™s persistence in maintaining and utilizing the death penalty has only led to global condemnation and tarnishes Singaporeโ€™s image as a developed nation governed by the rule of law," it added.

The hanging in April of Malaysian drug trafficker Nagaenthran K. Dharmalingam sparked an international outcry because he was believed to be intellectually disabled with an IQ of 69. Another Malaysian drug trafficker who was to be hanged in April was given a reprieve pending the outcome of a legal challenge.

A Singapore activist, Kokila Annamalai, said convicted Singaporean drug trafficker Norasharee Gous is to be hanged on Thursday, the same day as Kalwant. She said they are the seventh and eighth executions scheduled this year. So far, two people including Nagaenthran have been hanged while four other executions were delayed by last-minute legal challenges, she said.

A PolitiFact โ€œfact checkerโ€ who has attempting to discredit National Pulse reporting on mask mandates and recent medical journal papers has almost zero experience in real news reporting, medical reporting, COVID-19 reporting, or even national news, The National Pulse can reveal.

 

The information is the latest in a slew of โ€œfact checkerโ€ stories which reveal dubiously credentialed individuals working to remove anti-Big Pharma content from the internet at the behest of big tech companies and their sponsors in the pharmaceutical industry.

 

Floridian liberal Gabrielle Settles appears to have begun working for Politifact in March 2021, bylining at least 70 stories for the corporate-backed censor.

 

Settles, however, has no experience in dealing with any of this kind of information, having performed the majority of her โ€œfact checksโ€ simply by copying and pasting from the Centers for Disease Control website, and even veering off into โ€œfact checkingโ€ pictures of Christmas cards and photos of singer Rihanna.

 

Prior to Politifact, Settles worked at a small, St. Petersburg outfit called โ€œThe Weekly Challengerโ€, and prior to that, as an โ€œOffice Administratorโ€ at โ€œMoody Radioโ€ and a โ€œcontributing writerโ€ at a blog called โ€œThe Power Broker Magazine.โ€ The sites receive almost zero web traffic.

 

In fact, Settlesโ€™s journalistic contributions are extremely limited. But naturally, her contributions to partisan rhetoric are not.

 

The Politifact โ€œreporterโ€ โ€“ a job which includes no actual reporting โ€“ has a history of pro-Democrat and anti-Trump tweets. Naturally, she took umbrage with The National Pulseโ€™s story on masks and deaths, derived from two separate stories of May 16th and May 26th.

 

In the first, Natalie Winters reveals how Beny Spira, Associate Professor at the University of Sรฃo Paulo, published an April 19th 2022 study โ€œanalyz[ing] the correlation between mask usage against morbidity and mortality rates in the 2020-2021 winter in Europe.โ€

 

The data came from 35 European countries, and concluded:

 

โ€œThe findings presented in this short communication suggest that countries with high levels of mask compliance did not perform better than those with low mask usage in the six-month period that encompassed the second European wave of COVID-19โ€ฆโ€

 

The study also found:

 

โ€œMoreover, the moderate positive correlation between mask usage and deaths in Western Europe also suggests that the universal use of masks may have had harmful unintended consequencesโ€ฆโ€

 

But Settles found this particular science to be โ€œFalseโ€ and as a result, the National Pulse story is now being censored on social media. Settlesโ€™s source appears to be a singular professor from the corporate-backed Milken Institute for Public Health at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Her name is Emily Smith.

 

But Smith didnโ€™t even tell Settles that Spiraโ€™s study was incorrect. She is quoted as saying:

 

โ€œI think we can just use common sense to say that when cases are rising, people are more likely to do protective thingsโ€ฆ Youโ€™re more likely to wear a mask when you go out and your city or your country might also have made recommendations or requirements to do those things.โ€

 

In other words, Smith is claiming that the mask usage and deaths is an inverse correlation, though she offers no evidence, nor science, nor refutation of the science offered. Instead, Smith suggests using โ€œcommon senseโ€ โ€“ a phrase oft-derided when used by anti-authoritarian activists at the beginning of the pandemic.

 

Smith, for what it is worth, is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as revealed on her university biography.

Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy is planning to ask the state legislature to consider a constitutional amendment on abortion.

 

The U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade on Friday by a vote of 6-3. Alaska does not have a trigger law that makes abortion illegal.

 

โ€œI like many Alaskans, am pro life,โ€ Dunleavy said in a news release. โ€œI also recognize that many Alaskans are pro choice. I will therefore be introducing a resolution for a proposed constitutional amendment to the Legislature in the next session to answer the question whether abortion shall, or not be a constitutionally protected right.โ€

 

Alaska voters will decide in November if they want to approve a constitutional convention. Alaska Democrats said in light of Fridayโ€™s Supreme Court ruling, the measure must be defeated.

 

โ€œWhile, for now, a womanโ€™s right to choose remains protected in the state of Alaska, extremist Christian fundamentalists and radical MAGA Republicans seek an unnecessary, expensive and dangerous constitutional convention that would open up the entire state constitution for revisions on issues ranging from abortion, to guns, climate change, environmental regulations, gay marriage, and the PFD,โ€ the organization said in a post on its website. โ€œThe constitutional convention question must be defeated by voters at the ballot box this November.โ€

 

Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, said while her home state has โ€œprotected abortion rightsโ€ through the stateโ€™s constitution, other states have not.

 

โ€œIn the wake of this ruling, it is up to Congress to respond,โ€ Murkowski said in a news release. โ€œI introduced legislation in February to protect womenโ€™s reproductive rights as provided in Roe, and I am continuing to work with a broader group to restore womenโ€™s freedom to control their own health decisions wherever they live.โ€

 

Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, said the ruling takes the issue out of federal courts and gives it back to the states.

 

โ€œAs a pro-life Catholic, I believe there is no greater gift than that of life. Going forward, I will continue to support legislation protecting the most vulnerable in society, including by expanding quality child care and opportunities for adoption,โ€ Sullivan said.

Energy Secretary Granholm violated Hatch Act by encouraging votes for Democrats during interview

 

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, an independent federal agency

 

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm violated the Hatch Act during a 2021 Instagram Live interview with "Marie Claire" magazine, according to a report by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel.

 

The federal law bars some federal government employees from using their official authority or influence to impact the results of an election.

 

During the interview in October 2021, Granholm was asked: "How do we get involved in this moment to make sure we pass these things?"

 

The interviewer was discussing policies that she said were "of particular interest to women, and for which women had 'marched' in the past, and how Congress is trying to pass legislation to enact some of those policies," according to the report.

 

Granholm responded:

 

"The good news is that โ€ฆ marching and that voting gave Democrats a bare majority, but a majority, in the House in the Senate. And again, I am using Democrats as a substitute for the policies that you believe in, the policies that you would like to see happen. And what I say to people all the time is the most important thing you can do is make your voice heard. Vote! Put people in who agree with you.

 

"The arguments in D.C. right now wouldnโ€™t be as tough as they are if we had just a couple more, just a couple more senators that agreed with us or just a couple more members of the House. So continue to be out there, continue to elect people. โ€ฆ And the only way you get policy you want is by putting people in office. By hiring the right people. They work for you. You can hire them; you can fire them. Letโ€™s hire a few more."

 

According to the office, employees covered by the Hatch Act are prohibited from using their official title or position while participating in political activity, which is defined as "activity directed at the success or failure of a political party, partisan political group, or candidate for partisan political office."

 

"Thus, federal employees in their official capacity are prohibited from, among other things, promoting the election or defeat of political parties or candidates for partisan political office," reads the June 9 letter on the matter from the office, an independent federal agency.

 

"She told listeners that they needed to vote for Democrats so that more Democrats would be elected to pass the legislation they wanted," the letter also states.

 

However, the office concluded that Granholm did not knowingly violate the act, becasuse she "had not received significant training about [its] use of official authority prohibition." As a result, she was received a warning letter.

 

Since the interview, Granholm has received appropriate training and the office has advised her that any future violations will be considered "willful and knowing violation of the law, which could result in further action."

Russian Superyacht Docks In San Diego Flying American Flag

By K. Oanh Ha (Bloomberg) After a stopover in Hawaii, the $325 million superyacht thatโ€™s tied to Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov and that was seized by US authorities in Fiji has sailed into a port in Southern California.

 

The Amadea, a luxurious megayacht thatโ€™s nearly as long as a football field and features a helipad, docked in San Diego Monday morning local time, according to vessel data compiled by Bloomberg. It had spent a few days in Honolulu after the US hired a new crew and sailed the superyacht out of Fiji on June 7, flying the American flag after winning a legal battle.

 

The stop in San Diego caps a more than 13,000-nautical-mile odyssey for the vessel as it attempted to find a safe haven, with US agents from multiple government agencies pursuing it. The seizure is a huge win for the US as it looks to punish titans close to President Vladimir Putin by going after their megayachts, villas, and other assets.

 

With the ship now in US hands, authorities from that nation will bear the responsibility for its maintenance, which the Federal Bureau of Investigation has estimated will cost between $25 million to $30 million annually, according to court documents seen by Bloomberg.

 

President Joe Biden has pushed for legislation thatโ€™s been passed by lawmakers in the House of Representatives that would allow the US to seize yachts like the Amadea and other assets of sanctioned Russians, liquidate them, and use those funds to benefit Ukraine. The European Union is considering similar measures.

 

Still, there may be risks for buyers of seized yachts, according to Benjamin Maltby, a partner who specializes in superyacht law at London-based Keystone Law.

 

โ€œBuyers need to be aware that certain countries may not necessarily recognize the seizure and transfer of ownership,โ€ said Maltby. โ€œClearly, the risk is higher for countries that are at odds politically with the West โ€” and these are unlikely to be countries one would wish to cruise to โ€” but itโ€™s something potential buyers should keep in mind.โ€

There are two reasons why adults can remember with such detail events that happened in their past: First, the terror they

completely reversed: white is black, black is white, good is bad, bad is good, Satan is going to rule during the

Millennium.

Children are put in a situation where they believe they are going to dieโ€“such as being buried alive or being placed in a

plastic bag and immersed in water. Prior to doing so, the abuser tells the child to pray to Jesus to see if He will save her.

Imagine a seven year old girl, having been told she is going to die, praying to Jesus to save her and nothing happensโ€“

then at the last moment she is rescued, but the person saving her is a representative of Satan. He uses this experience to

convince her that the only person who really cares about her is Satan, she is Satan's child and she might as well become

loyal to him.

Just before or shortly after their baptism into the Church, children are baptized by blood into the satanic order which is

meant to cancel out their baptism into the Church. They will be asked if they understand or have ever felt the Holy

Ghost. When they reply that they have, they will be reminded of the horrible things they have participated in and will be

the memories begin to surface, there are personalities who feel they have given themselves to Satan, and there is no

hope for forgiveness. The core person is an active member of the Church, often with a temple recommend. As

integration takes place, the civil war begins. Sometimes, in an interview, personalities of the dark side have come out.

US expects NATO to have 'strong' language on China - White House

 

 

The updated NATO strategic concept, which will be adopted at the upcoming summit in Madrid, will include some "strong" language on China, according to a White House official.

 

 

โ€œSo just as teams are continuing to work here on the G7 document teams are continuing to make final tweaks on the strategic concept. So those conversations are ongoing. I think we're very confident we're gonna get to a good place. And then we're gonna have strong China language in the NATO Strategic Concept, which will be I think, you know, a significant improvement or change from 2010 when China was not mentioned and Russia I think was called a strategic partner or something,โ€ the official told journalists.

 

 

The official stated that China will be heavily discussed at the G7 summit in Germany, which takes place from Sunday to Tuesday.

Last month, the foreign ministers of the G7 countries voiced their support for more wide-scope efforts involving China in active dialogues over arms control to promote nuclear disarmament.

 

 

"The G7 supports and encourages wider efforts towards an active arms control dialogue involving China," the foreign ministers said in a joint communique after a meeting in Weissenhaus, Germany.

 

 

The ministers also stressed that they welcome efforts by the G7 Nuclear Weapons States to promote effective measures that are critical toward progress on disarmament under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

Former President Donald Trump ratcheted up his rhetoric against the law-enforcement officer who shot Ashli Babbitt in a Wednesday statement, calling them a murderer and saying, "We know who he is."

 

Babbitt died after a law-enforcement officer shot her as she tried to climb through a broken window to get into the Speaker's Lobby during the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

 

"I spoke to the wonderful mother and husband of Ashli Babbitt, who was murdered at the hands of someone who should have never pulled the trigger of his gun," Trump said. "We know who he is. If this happened to the 'other side,' there would be riots all over America, and yet there are far more people represented by Ashli, who truly loved America, than there are on the other side."

On Monday, the United States came down to its own verdict: Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was likely killed by gunfire from Israeli positions, but there was no reason for the US, as always, to believe that her murder was intentional.

 

The US State Department said that Washington could not make a "defintiive conclusion" on where the bullet came from.

 

"Ballistic experts determined the bullet was badly damaged, which prevented a clear conclusion," said Ned Price, State Department Spokesperson, after what he described as an "extremely detailed forensic analysis."

"By summarizing both investigations, the USSC [US Security Coordinator] concluded that gunfire from IDF positions was likely responsible for the death of Shireen Abu Akleh," the State Department said, referring to the Israeli occupation forces.

 

"The USSC found no reason to believe that this was intentional but rather the result of tragic circumstancesโ€ฆ"

 

"We will remain engaged with Israel and the PA on next steps and urge accountability. We again offer our deepest condolences to the Abu Akleh family," said the rare July 4 statement.

 

Shireen Abu Akleh, famed Al Jazeera journalist and veteran reporter, was murdered on May 11 when Israeli occupation forces storming the Jenin refugee camp, north of the West Bank, shot her with a live bullet to the head as she was covering the events of the storming.

 

Rejecting the Israeli US narrative

 

After knowing of the report, the Palestinian Authority rejected Washington's efforts to conceal the truth about the murder of Abu Akleh.

 

"We will not allow attempts to conceal the truth or to have shy references in pointing the finger of accusation (at) Israel," senior PA official Hussein Al-Sheikh tweeted.

 

This remark followed the "extremely detailed analysis" which came down to no "definitive conclusion" of how the bullet struck and killed the journalist.

 

The Palestinian Public Prosecution Office also rejected the report, asserting that there were no armed confrontations at the moment and area of the killing.

 

The Palestinian presidency accused the occupation government of trying to abandon its responsibility in Abu Akleh's killing, calling on the US administration to "preserve its credibility."

 

On his part, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Wasel Abu Yousef, accused the United States of "protecting Israel after the forensic examination failed to reach a conclusion about the source of the bullet that killed Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh."

 

Abu Youssef told Reuters, "The truth is clear, but the US administration is reluctant to announce it. We say that Israel killed Shireen Abu Aqleh, and it must bear responsibility for its crime."

 

Shireen Abu Akleh's family called on the United Nations and the International Criminal Court to take immediate measures to achieve justice after knowing of the report.

 

The family said, "There were many eyewitnesses to the killing, and we have reports from multiple local and international media, human rights organizations and the United Nations that an Israeli soldier fired the fatal shot, and that there were no other armed elements in Jenin where Shireen was killed."

 

"We will continue our procedures at the international courts. We will not allow attempts to conceal the truth or to have shy references in pointing the finger of accusation (at) Israel," Hussein Al-Sheikh wrote on Twitter.

Jury forewoman explains Sussmann verdict: 'There are bigger things that affect the nation'

 

Former Clinton attorney Michael Sussmann was acquitted on charges of lying to the FBI because the jury thought it was a waste of time, jurors indicated after giving the not guilty verdict.

 

 

"I don't think it should have been prosecuted," she said, The Washington Times reported. "There are bigger things that affect the nation than a possible lie to the FBI."

 

 

Special Counsel John Durham charged Sussmann with lying to the FBI about his work with the Clinton campaign and a former tech firm executive when he provided the agency with information on the since-debunked Trump-Russia collusion narrative.

 

 

She explained, "It was the governmentโ€™s job to prove it, and they succeeded in some ways and not in othersโ€ฆ We broke it down, and it did not pan out in the governmentโ€™s favor."

 

 

She stressed that the verdict was not a partisan decision.

 

 

"Politics were not a factor. โ€ฆ We felt really comfortable being able to share what we thought. We had concise notes, and we were able to address the questions together," the forewoman said, according to The Washington Post.

 

 

The government "could have spent our time more wisely," she added.

 

 

Another juror told the Post that "everyone pretty much saw it the same way" in the jury room.

 

 

George Washington University professor Jonathan Turley commented on Twitter in response to the forewoman's remarks.

 

 

"If true, that is the type of statement that would have drawn a likely challenge from prosecutors" while selecting an impartial jury, he explained.

 

 

"Telling a lie to the FBI was the entire basis for the prosecution. It was the jury's job to determine the fact of such a lie and its materiality," Turley wrote, adding, "Of course, this statement can be a simple criticism of the underlying charge without admitting to bias in weighing the elements. Yet, it would have prompted a challenge in the courtroom if expressed during jury selection."

 

 

Former President Donald Trump criticized the justice system after the verdict.

Thailand legalizes growing, consumption of marijuana

STORY: Thailand has eased the rules on cannabis - allowing people to grow the plant at homeโ€ฆ but smoking pot is still banned.

 

It is the first Asian country to do so, in a region known for its tough anti-drug laws.

 

The new changes also allow the consumption of marijuana in food and drinks, with the aim of boosting Thailandโ€™s agriculture and tourism sectors.

"There are pros and cons to cannabis. Although we havenโ€™t seen the bad side of it - itโ€™s a good thing that cannabis has been decriminalized. We are now able to easily find it, we donโ€™t have to worry about the source of it, or have no idea about its quality or how it has been cultivated. Right now, people can find 100% organic or medical-grade cannabis at these shops.โ€

 

Thailand was also the first country in Asia to legalize medicinal marijuana use in 2018, as it is commonly used for pain relief.

 

The government is planning to give away a million plants to encourage farmers to take up its cultivation.

 

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha said that "smoking that creates a nuisance to others" and smoking while driving will be remain illegal.

 

"One of the main discussions the cabinet talked about today mainly was about the way people should behave follow the declassification of cannabis and hemp from Narcotics under Category 5 of the Narcotics Act. Starting from June 9, people can consume and smoke both cannabis and hemp, but certain behavior has to be controlled."

 

Authorities have decided to limit the strength of the cannabis products that are now legal โ€“ which will rule out smokers of the drug known as โ€˜potโ€™ and โ€˜weedโ€™ from getting high.

 

And those who break the law can still face jail and fines.

 

Cannabis growers have to register on a government app called PlookGanja, or grow ganja. According to the health ministry nearly 100,000 people have already signed up to the app.

Campaign to Recall Soros-backed L.A. D.A. George Gascรณn: We Have the Signatures

The campaign to recall George Soros-backed Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascรณn announced Wednesday that it had gathered the 566,857 voter signatures necessary by the deadline to put a recall on the ballot in the next election.

 

The announcement came a week after San Francisco recalled their own left-wing district attorney, Chesa Boudin, who was Gascรณnโ€™s successor in that city, and also received $100,000 from Gascรณnโ€™s political action committee to fight that recall.

 

In a press statement, the campaign to recall Gascรณn said:

 

Today, the Recall DA George Gascon campaign announced it has surpassed 566,857 signatures collected as of June 14th, which equates to 10% of registered voters in Los Angeles County and is the required threshold to officially initiate a recall. This is the most signatures ever collected in Los Angeles County for any petition.

 

The campaign is now focused on collecting as many additional signatures as possible to ensure there is a necessary cushion to cover those that are invalidated by the Registrar. The goal is to ultimately submit 650,000 โ€“ 700,000 total signatures, or even more if possible.

 

Bill Melugin of Fox News reported that the campaign collected 30,000 additional signatures in the past several days alone.

 

The deadline for submitting signatures is July 6.

 

Gascรณn was elected in 2020 with the help of millions of dollars in spending by Soros and a slew of endorsements by the Democratic Party establishment in Los Angeles. and throughout California. He unseated incumbent Jackie Lacey, the first black woman ever to hold the job. Gascรณn echoed the rhetoric of the rampant Black Lives Matter movement, and launched radical โ€œreformsโ€ immediately upon taking office, including ending cash bail; barring prosecutors from seeking the death penalty, ending most sentence enhancements for aggravated crimes; and barring the prosecution of juveniles as adults.

 

These changes coincided with โ€” or, critics say, contributed to โ€” a crime wave in L.A. Still, Gascรณn touted his term as a great success, citing the fact that he had reduced thousands of yearsโ€™ worth of prison sentences. Last December, he invited fellow radical and Soros-funded prosecutors to join him at a one-year anniversary celebration. But the festivities were soured by news of the murder of Jacqueline Avant, a prominent black philanthropist, during an armed robbery at her home.

 

Gascรณn is one of some 75 Soros-funded prosecutors across the U.S., who have pushed โ€œcriminal justice reformโ€ and the radical agenda of the Black Lives Matter movement as crime has risen. The issue is a major motivating force behind a shift toward Republicans, particularly among Hispanic voters, and Democrats have been slow to respond to the public outrage.

 

Last week, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) tried to reframe the issue as a โ€œred state murder problem,โ€ arguing that while the most dangerous cities in America are governed by Democrats, many of them are in states governed by Republicans.

Schiff: House Select Committee Has Evidence That Trump โ€œEngaged in Likely Multiple Criminal Actsโ€

 

Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) went on CNNโ€™s โ€œDon Lemon Tonightโ€ to tout the work of the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6th riot. In that interview, Schiff declared that the Committee has enough evidence showing former President Donald Trump โ€œengaged in likely multiple criminal acts.โ€ While vague on the specific crimes, Schiff emphasized that the Justice Department did not have to wait any further to launch a criminal investigation based on what has already been disclosed. While the Committee has disclosed new evidence in the form of videotapes and testimony, it has not presented new material evidence of criminal acts in my view. That could still come but the first two hearings largely focused on a โ€œconspiracyโ€ to challenge the election certification and allegations that Trump knew the there was no compelling evidence of widespread election fraud.

 

If there is evidence of criminal conduct by former president Trump or others, most of us would support the calls for prosecution. It is also possible that the Justice Department is investigating such crimes or has undisclosed evidence. The hearings, however, have not established such a foundation. That can still come but these crimes have elements that have not been addressed in hearings that have lacked any opposing views or adversarial elements.

 

The decision of Speaker Nancy Pelosi to abandon the long tradition of bipartisan members on such selection committee has robbed the investigation of credibility and legitimacy for many Americans.

 

Indeed, Schiffโ€™s reference to evidence held by the Committee is likely to bring up memories of his highly controversial public statements that the House Intelligence Committee, which he chairs, had direct evidence of Russian collusion despite the countervailing findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller. He never produced the evidence and later it was revealed that Justice officials and FBI agents had told his Committee that they did not find such evidence.

 

Now, Schiff is maintaining that:

 

โ€œI certainly believe thereโ€™s enough evidence for them to open an investigation of several people, and so did Judge David Carter of California believes the former president and others were engaged in likely multiple criminal acts. So if the Justice Department concurs with Judge Carter, let alone my own view or others, they should be pursuing that. So, yes, I think there is sufficient evidence to open an investigation. It would be of you up to the Justice Department ultimately to decide does that evidence rise to proof beyond a reasonable doubt such that theyโ€™re comfortable indicting someone. But thereโ€™s certainly, in my view, enough evidence to open up investigations.โ€

 

The reference to the Carter opinion has become a mainstay on cable news. I was critical of Judge Carterโ€™s opinion when it was released. Much of the Jan. 6th hearings seem to be structured along the same lines as the Carter decision which was, in my view, strikingly conclusory and unsupported in critical parts of the analysis.

 

Judge Carter simply declares that Trump knew that the election was not stolen and thus โ€œthe illegality of the plan was obvious.โ€ Putting aside the courtโ€™s assumption of what Trump secretly concluded on the election, a sizable number of Americans still do not view Biden as legitimately elected. The court is not simply saying that they are wrong in that view but, because they are wrong, legislative challenges amounted to criminal obstruction of Congress.

US authorities discover secret tunnel running from Mexico to an abandoned KFC

This might sound like a storyline from Breaking Bad but US authorities have discovered a tunnel that leads from Mexico to an abandoned KFC restaurant in Arizona.

 

In April, the Department of Homeland Security revealed that they had received information about the tunnel underneath the KFC whichwas located in San Luis, around 200 yards north of the Mexican border.

 

The building reportedly belongs to a man named Ivan Lopez who was arrested after several packages containing methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and fentanyl were found in the back of his truck.

 

This lead to the authorities searching the building and discovering the hidden tunnel, which is said to have been big enough for people to walk through.

 

Speaking to the Associated Press, Scott Brown, who is the special agent in charge of the case said that increased controls on the Mexican border are forcing drug smugglers to go to 'more costly routes into the US.'

 

Lopez, who the US government believe is a member of a cartel, is said to have brought the building back in April but it is unclear how long the tunnel has been there.

 

He is currently being held in federal detention without bond, as he is considered to be a flight risk.

 

In the last 28 years, over 200 tunnels running across the US/Mexico border have been discovered, despite them costing traffickers hundreds of thousands of dollars to construct.

Quantum networks, an emerging research frontier, will one day offer the ability to distribute and share quantum information securely among quantum computers, clusters of quantum sensors and related devices at regional and national distances. They can also be used to distribute ultra-precise time signals, and offer the potential to enable the creation of new applications not yet imagined.

BARCELONA (Reuters) -The body of software entrepreneur John McAfee remains in a Spanish morgue a year after his death as a legal case lodged by his family to demand further checks is yet to be resolved, authorities and his lawyer said.

McAfee, who launched the world's first commercial anti-virus software in 1987, was found dead, aged 75, on June 23 last year in his prison cell a few hours after Spain's high court authorised his extradition to the United States on tax evasion charges.

The British-American mogul had been jailed in the Barcelona-area Brians 2 jail for eight months following his arrest after years on the run from U.S. authorities.

The autopsy determined he died by suicide. Prison authorities said he had already attempted to kill himself four months before dying.

Shortly after his death, McAfee's widow said he was not suicidal and that she would seek "answers."

"It's difficult to put into words what life has been like this past year," Janice McAfee tweeted on Thursday, calling on users to sign an online petition "to help pressure" Spanish authorities to release McAfee's remains.

The petition, signed by 1,365 people so far, calls for an independent autopsy "to determine if the official cause of death can be challenged or investigated privately".

McAfee's family considered the original autopsy to be incomplete and asked for further checks, which were denied by a local judge, said the late entrepreneur's lawyer Javier Villalba on Wednesday. The family appealed that decision.

A judge then ruled that McAfee's body could not be handed to the family until their appeal was resolved, the lawyer said.

Catalonia's court system did not reply to a request for comment.

The corpse remains at the same Barcelona morgue where the autopsy was conducted, said a spokesperson for the regional government's justice department, adding that it was uncommon for identified bodies reclaimed by their families to be stored for such a long time.
