Former CIA and NSA director Michael Hayden bashed Republicans on Wednesday, saying that he agreed with the claim that there was no more dangerous “political force” than Republicans.

Hayden made the comments in response to a tweet from Financial Times editor and writer Edward Luce. Luce tweeted, “I’ve covered extremism and violent ideologies around the world over my career. Have never come across a political force more nihilistic, dangerous & contemptible than today’s Republicans. Nothing close.”

The former intelligence director shared the statement, saying, “I agree. And I was the CIA director.”

Hayden, who was appointed to be CIA director by former President George W. Bush, led the agency from 2006 to 2009. Previously, he was first appointed by former President Bill Clinton to be director of the NSA, a role he held from 1999 to 2005.

The TWA 800 Whistleblower Is Legit

In the past few weeks, I have received numerous inquiries about ten-year Navy veteran William Henry Teele III. After years of quietly providing information to me and other investigators into the July 1996 destruction of TWA Flight 800 off the coast of Long Island, Teele has gone public and is naming names.

I shared some of Teele’s information in my 2016 book, TWA 800: The Crash, The Cover-Up, The Conspiracy. Teele did not claim to be on the ship that fired the missile. He was on the USS Carr, a guided missile frigate that was one of the “combatants” in the battle group that destroyed the unfortunate 747 and killed the 230 souls on board. Everything that I could verify about Teele’s account back then checked out.

On the evening of July 17, 1996, as Teele relates, the Carr was trying out new AN/SPY-1 Alpha radar as well as new AN/SPS 49 radar. For this simulated air attack, the target was to be a drone pulled by a military aircraft using a thousand-or-so foot chain. Teele was among the personnel monitoring this activity from within the ship’s combat information center (CIC).

” So too, said the FBI, were the USS Normandy, an Aegis cruiser, and a US Navy P-3 Orion. The P-3, in fact, just happened to be flying about seven thousand feet above TWA 800 when the plane was blown out of the sky.

Teele puts the USS Carr in this group as well. Although he has not said so publicly, Teele strongly believes that the USS Leyte Gulf, another Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, was involved. With Teele confirming there was a drone in the mix, the U.S. Navy had all the “combatants” needed for a Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) missile test.

In 1996, the Navy was in the process of introducing this enormously complex system. In the CEC live-fire tests, which began as early as 1994 in Puerto Rico, drones played the role of “unknown assumed enemy.” The P-3’s role was to relay data among the various units involved. In this way, as Teele explains, one ship could track the assumed enemy, and another ship could fire.

Teele describes the assumed enemy as a “low, slow flier flying toward us.” The tragedy that followed would likely have been averted had not air traffic control held the Paris-bound TWA 800 at 13,700 feet to allow US Air 217 heading north to pass safely overhead. “I believe we jumped the gun,” said Teele. “We had a track on a contact that came out that fit the profile that we were given.” TWA 800 became the “assumed enemy.” Says Teele, “It matched the drill.”

Two missiles were fired. Over his headset, Teele heard the announcement, “Birds away.” A few minutes later, he heard “Splash,” meaning the missiles had hit the target. Soon after that, he heard someone say,“Wo, wo, wo.” And another person added, “Wait a minute. We hit an Airbus.”

In fact, eight years earlier, at the tail end of the Iran-Iraq War, an Aegis cruiser, the USS Vincennes, fired two Standard Missiles at a commercial Iranian Airbus, IR 655. IR 655 had reached 13,500 feet, a final altitude almost identical to TWA 800’s. Capt. Will Rogers III gave the order to fire. Rogers and his crew had mistaken the ascending passenger jet with 290 people on board for a descending Iranian F-14, a fighter plane. Stuff happens.

The stuff that happened on the night of July 17, 1996 outraged Teele’s CO, Captain Wray. “These have got to be the dumbest idiots I’ve ever seen in my life,” Teele remembers Wray as saying. “How do you accidentally fire a missile? You don’t know the color of missiles? One is blue. One is white. Blue mean training. White means live. You’ve got to be stupid to put a white on the rail.” Although his memory as to which ship was responsible is admittedly uncertain, Teele believes it was the Leyte Gulf.

Despite the long-established mandate that neighboring ships rush to the scene of an accident, the Carr turned tail and headed out to sea “at top speed.” Teele’s leading petty officer made it so clear that he was to say nothing of what he saw or heard. He then issued the order, “Pull the RD390 tapes, close all positional log books, including the bridges, tape them and leave them on the DRT table!"

The documents were then taken to a place called the “shred room” where they were destroyed using salt water and a shredder. “We ran to Bermuda where we were not allowed to leave the ship, no phone calls, emails secured, and nothing was to be discussed!” says Teele. “Everyone that was involved was told in CIC, ‘This didn't happen!’” As far as the major media are concerned, it never did.

Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott expressed his anger when federal Border Patrol agents reportedly unlocked a gate that the Texas National Guard had closed to prevent immigrants from crossing the southern border and entering Texas.

The gate, which is on private property, had been left open in the past, but the Texas National Guard had closed it, according to Fox News reporter Bill Melugin.

The FBI division overseeing the investigation of former President Trump's handling of classified material at his Mar-a-Lago residence is also a focus of Special Counsel John Durham's investigation of the bureau's alleged abuses of power and political bias during its years-long Russiagate probe of Trump.

The FBI's nine-hour, 30-agent raid of the former president's Florida estate is part of a counterintelligence case run out of Washington – not Miami, as has been widely reported – according to FBI case documents and sources with knowledge of the matter. The bureau's counterintelligence division led the 2016-2017 Russia "collusion" investigation of Trump, codenamed "Crossfire Hurricane."

Although the former head of Crossfire Hurricane, Peter Strzok, was fired after the disclosure of his vitriolic anti-Trump tweets, several members of his team remain working in the counterintelligence unit, the sources say, even though they are under active investigation by both Durham and the bureau's disciplinary arm, the Office of Professional Responsibility. The FBI declined to respond to questions about any role they may be taking in the Mar-a-Lago case.

In addition, a key member of the Crossfire team – Supervisory Intelligence Analyst Brian Auten – has continued to be involved in politically sensitive investigations, including the ongoing federal probe of potentially incriminating content found on the abandoned laptop of President Biden's son Hunter Biden, according to recent correspondence between the Senate Judiciary Committee and FBI Director Christopher Wray. FBI whistleblowers have alleged that Auten tried to falsely discredit derogatory evidence against Hunter Biden during the 2020 campaign by labeling it Russian "disinformation," an assessment that caused investigative activity to cease.

Auten has been allowed to work on sensitive cases even though he has been under internal investigation since 2019, when Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz referred him for disciplinary review for his role in vetting a Hillary Clinton campaign-funded dossier used by the FBI to obtain a series of wiretap warrants to spy on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. Horowitz singled out Auten for cutting a number of corners in the verification process and even allowing information he knew to be incorrect slip into warrant affidavits and mislead the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court.

Wray: 'A number of' Crossfire agents are still employed but under a cloud.

In congressional testimony this month, Wray confirmed that "a number of" former Crossfire Hurricane team members are still employed at the bureau while undergoing disciplinary review. In the meantime, Wray has walled off the former Russiagate investigators only from participating in FISA wiretap applications, according to the sources.

Sen. Chuck Grassley: Is Auten analyzing documents seized at Mar-a-Lago?

Sen. Chuck Grassley, the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, has asked Wray for copies of recent case files and reports generated by Auten and whether he is included among the team the FBI has assembled to determine which of the seized Trump records fall within the scope of its counterespionage investigation and which fall outside of it.

Some former FBI officials worry that Auten, a top bureau expert on Russia and nuclear warfare, will have a hand in analyzing the boxes of documents agents seized from Trump's home on Aug. 8 to help determine if any of the alleged Top Secret material he kept there might have been compromised, potentially putting national security at risk.

"It is a disgrace that Auten is still even employed by the bureau," said 27-year FBI veteran Michael Biasello. "I would substitute other analysts and agents."

An examination of the bureau agents involved in the Mar-a-Lago raid reveals other connections between them and FBI officials who played key roles in advancing the Russiagate hoax.

Jay Bratt: Probe coordinator traveled to Mar-a-Lago and met with Trump in early June. Then things got dicey.

Sources told RealClearInvestigations that Jay Bratt, the top counterintelligence official in Justice's national security division, who happens to be a Democratic National Committee donor, has been coordinating the Mar-a-Lago investigation with Alan Kohler, who heads the FBI's counterintelligence division.

Kohler replaced Bill Priestap in that post after Priestap stepped down from the bureau amid criticism of his role in the Russiagate probe. Kohler had worked at FBI headquarters under Priestap, specializing in countering Russian intelligence threats.

Before that, he worked in London as the FBI's liaison with British intelligence and law enforcement. The sources say Kohler was close to Stefan Halper, an academic and longtime FBI contractor whom the bureau ran as an informant in a failed effort to suborn Trump campaign officials. He also worked closely with Stephen Somma, a lead case agent in the Crossfire Hurricane probe whom Horowitz said was "primarily responsible" for some of the worst misconduct in the FISA warrant abuse scandal. Somma is a counterintelligence investigator in the FBI's New York field office, where he has been reassigned to the China desk.

Alan Kohler: Said to be close to Russiagate informant Stefan Halper.

In 2019, Kohler was promoted to special agent in charge of the counterintelligence division at the FBI's Washington field Office, where he worked alongside then-assistant agent-in-charge Timothy Thibault, who was reassigned by Wray just days prior to the Mar-a-Lago raid, after whistleblowers raised questions about political bias. They asserted that Thibault, who has taken aim at Trump and Republicans on social media, worked with Auten to falsely discredit evidence of alleged money laundering and other activities against Hunter Biden and prevent agents from investigating them.

The Washington field office's counterintelligence division is now run by Anthony Riedlinger, who previously worked at FBI headquarters as a section chief under Priestap. Some of the agents involved in the raid on Trump's home came from that Washington field office, according to the sources and FBI case documents.

Bratt, the top counterintelligence official at Justice, traveled to Mar-a-Lago in early June and personally inspected the storage facility while interacting with both Trump and one of his lawyers. Trump allowed the three FBI agents Bratt brought with him to open boxes in the storage room and look through them. They left with some documents. After leaving, Bratt made a request to Trump's lawyer for increased security at the facility and asked to see surveillance footage from the security cameras. The lawyer complied with the requests. Months went by before the Justice Department took the politically explosive step of sending FBI agents unannounced to Trump's home, seizing documents, photos, and other items not just from the storage facility but from multiple rooms on the property, including the former president's office.

Former assistant FBI director Chris Swecker said the search warrant that agents obtained is quite wide-ranging. He pointed out that it authorized the seizure of any information in any form related to "national defense information," which he said "does not necessarily include classified material."

"This is a huge, broad search warrant and a huge, broad investigation leveled against the former president," Swecker said.

The Shropshire caves date back around 700 years when they were used by followers of the Knights Templar – a medieval religious order that fought in the Crusades.

One year after Christmas, the labyrinth of intricately carved chambers was found to be filled with candles, sinister symbols scrawled on the walls and more besides.

The owners of the site, hidden in dense woodland ten miles from Wolverhampton, decided enough was enough when two warlocks knocked on the door – and asked for their robes back.

The red-faced pair had left the garments behind after a ritual.

Dominic Wass, an acclaimed urban artist who works under the name ‘Sketch’, once set up a workshop on the site.

“There’s definitely some strange stuff gone on down there,” he told the Sunday Mercury.

“It’s surreal to have two warlocks knock on your door, but at least they asked. It’s the mess left behind by the ones that don’t…

“Some of the requests have been very weird.”

Accompanied by a Mercury photographer, our reporter entered the cramped tunnels to explore the secret world below.

Our torches picked out pillars, hidden alcoves and ritualistic symbols.

Mystic sigils competed for crowded wall space with more modern scrawled messages, written by youths who have turned the temple into a drinking den.

And, yes, evil had been at work – but not with a dustpan and brush.

There were more snuffed-out candles than you could wave a wand at.

Spirits were present, too. Empty bottles of booze littered the floor.

‘Sketch’, who is 25, scanned the cobweb-encrusted inner sanctum and shook his head sadly.

“They’ve moved the sacrificial stone again,” he groaned.

Some people! Why can’t they just put things back where they found them?

“Obviously it’s not something we want to be associated with,” he added. “But in the past, if people have asked permission, explained what they wanted to do and we were happy with it, and if they tidied up afterwards

“But this is going too far.”

Time and again, wrought iron gates have been placed over the’ tiny entrance to the caves, only big enough to crawl through.

But they have been ripped down within days. Nothing, it seems, will stop unwelcome intruders intent on hell-raising.

Sketch, who has lived on the site for two years, admitted: “It’s almost impossible to control.

“You can put up razor-wire, but if someone gets injured, we’re the ones who land in trouble.

“People don’t seem to realise that this is private property and they are trespassing.

“It’s a difficult one. Publicity just leads to more people trying to get into the caves.”

News of the closure will be a hammer blow to the many polite Pagans who ask permission to use the place.

They’re not the ones who cause trouble, apparently.

But Druids, white witches, wizards and Satanists risk meeting their maker (whichever one he or she may be) when attempting to enter the Caynton complex.

Dogs, including a very large mastiff, roam the grounds.

There’s also barbed wire and brambles to overcome.

The caves themselves are hazardous. Some chambers are so tiny that you have to enter them on hands and knees.

In 2009, a 16-year-old lost his life when a similar sandstone cave, in nearby Bridgnorth, collapsed.

In another effort to keep unwelcome worshippers away, CCTV has been increased at Caynton and more robust fencing erected. A walkway has been blocked off.Plans to fill in the caves, which are big enough to accommodate ten people, have been considered, but rejected.

Yet still they come, ignoring the perils to discover a site dubbed one of the most mystical in the Midlands.

It ranks with Castle Ring, a public Stone Age monument near Cannock Wood, Staffordshire, which has become a hotspot for Druids.

Solstice and Halloween pose particular problems at Caynton.

One Halloween bonfire party for local children was interrupted when trespassing worshippers, alerted by smoke, spilled out from the cave. “We really went to town that night,” remembers Sketch, “put up a cross, built a bonfire.

“All of a sudden all these people came running out, coughing and spluttering.”

They, like so many others, were inspired by the many legends that surround Caynton Caves.

Sketch explained: “Very little is known about why they are there. There are all kinds of stories.

“We were told they were dug by followers of the Knights Templar (a sect dating back to the days of the Crusades).

“They wanted a place where they could worship without being persecuted. It must have taken them a long time to create.

“We’ve also been told that a landowner hid slaves down there. Slavery was illegal by then and he’d hide as many as 60 down there.”

Some believe the grotto is more recent, dug out in the 1850s by a wealthy family as a folly.

One website, devoted to Britain’s hidden treasures, states: “It consists of a series of passages and chambers, with niches for candles, and the carving of the rooms is quite professional.

“It’s a creepy place and is rumoured to have been used in the 1980s for Black Magic rituals – probably not involving boxes of chocolates.”

Superstitions linked to the sinister site are rife in the community.

The mood of one local darkened when we asked for directions.

“You don’t want to go down there,” he warned. “There’s nothing but trouble down there.”

The pensioner had a point.I struck my head on an overhanging branch while exiting the cave and needed five minutes or so torecover.

The tunnels have also been the source of problems that are more anti-social than spiritual.

Not all, however, are spooked by Caynton’s mystical reputation.

What's more, he said the physical search of the former president's residence was far more sweeping than first reported and included unsupervised snooping in several dozen bedrooms, as well as numerous storage rooms and closets, including those of the former first lady. FBI agents took numerous boxes and containers of documents and other material, including several binders of photos and even three passports held by the former president.

The FBI's Mar-a-Lago warrant: One classified file meant an entire box could be seized.

Merrick Garland, Attorney General: Did he seek to "narrowly scope" any search undertaken?

Although Attorney General Merrick Garland has said that the DOJ seeks to "narrowly scope any search that is undertaken," details of the warrant reveal agents had the authority to seize entire boxes of records – including those potentially covered by attorney-client privilege and executive privilege – if just a single document inside the container were marked with a classified marking.

Agents were allowed to also seize any containers or boxes "found together with" ones containing classified papers, according to ATTACHMENT B ("Property to be seized") of the warrant. In addition, the FBI agents were given the authority to confiscate "any government and/or presidential records created between Jan. 20, 2017, and Jan. 20, 2021," which covers Trump's full term in office. That meant they were able to take any item related to the Trump administration.

All told, dozens of boxes and containers were removed from Trump's residence, very few of which actually contained classified information, the sources said.

According to Federal Election Commission records, Bratt has given exclusively to Democrats, including at least $800 to the Democratic National Committee. The sources said he is close to David Laufman, whom he replaced as the top counterintelligence official at Justice. An Obama donor, Laufman helped oversee the Russiagate probe, as well as the Clinton email case, which also involved classified information.

A Senate investigator told RCI that Laufman was the "mastermind" behind the strategy to dust off and "weaponize" the rarely enforced statutory relic – the Foreign Agents Registration Act – against Trump campaign officials, a novel legal move that the investigator noted is similar to the department's current attempts to enforce the Presidential Records Act against Trump – which is a civil, not a criminal, statute – by invoking the Espionage Act of 1917.

On CNN, for instance, he claimed the documents seized from Trump's storage were "particularly stunning and particularly egregious," and their discovery "completely validates the government's investigation" into the former president – though he quickly added, "Whether this investigation transforms into an outright criminal prosecution remains to be seen."

Swecker said that there is strong reason to fear that the FBI's counterintelligence division might politicize this case.

"For sure, the FBI has dug themselves into a huge hole because of how they handled the Clinton (email) case and then Crossfire Hurricane and Hunter Biden," Swecker said. "Myself and many of my colleagues think they are treading on very thin ice here."

"Unfortunately," he added, "you can't recuse an entire FBI division."

Patel: 'It's Just Insane'

Former federal prosecutor and Trump administration official Kash Patel said the FBI may have a personal interest – and a potential conflict – in seizing the records stored by Trump.

He noted that Trump in October 2020 authorized the declassification of all the investigative records generated from the FBI's Crossfire Hurricane as well as the Clinton email investigation, codenamed "Midyear Exam," and he said that the FBI may have confiscated some of those records in its raid, ensuring they won't be made public. In addition, he said, the agency may be digging for other documents to try to justify, retroactively, their questionable, politically-tinged 2016 opening of the Trump-Russia "collusion" case, which came up embarrassingly short on evidence.

"Tragically, the same FBI characters that were involved in Russiagate are the same counter-intel guys running this ‘national security investigation' against Trump," said Patel, who deposed Crossfire Hurricane team members as a former House Intelligence Committee investigator.

Patel noted that the Horowitz report indicated FBI analyst Auten hid exculpatory information about Trump's adviser Page from other investigators and the FISA court, which should be more than enough to keep him at arm's length from other investigations involving Trump.

"And to top it all off, this guy admits [to Horowitz's investigators] he's unrepentant about his role in making up the biggest hoax in election history, and Wray still lets him be a supervisor at the FBI," he said. "It's just insane."

The Justice Department's national security division has ultimate authority over the grand-jury probe of Trump for possible violations of the Espionage Act, including alleged mishandling of classified material – the same statutes invoked in the Clinton email investigation. (In that case, in contrast, the FBI never searched the former secretary of state's Chappaqua, N.Y., mansion, where she set up an unsecured basement server to send and receive at least 110 classified emails and where she also received government documents by fax.)

Former FBI counterintelligence official and lawyer Mark Wauck said he is troubled by signs that the same cast of characters from the Russiagate scandal appears to be involved in the Mar-a-Lago investigation.

"If these people, who were part of a major hoax that involved criminal activity and displays of bias and seriously flawed judgment, are still involved, then that's a major scandal," he said in an interview.

In an almost hour long phone call on Saturday, President Donald Trump grilled Georgia's secretary of state on allegations of voter fraud. The Washington Post originally obtained the hour long recording, but only posted edited excerpts of the call which totalled just over four minutes of audio.

On the call the President can be heard discussing with Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger the various allegations of voter fraud in the Peach State.

Among the people on the call were Raffensperger, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, several aides and attorneys. At one point Meadows urged Georgia officials, “in the spirit of cooperation and compromise” to find a path forward that doesn’t involve the court system.

During the call, Trump laid out numerous examples of ballot irregularities and anomalies including double voting and deceased people voting.

The Washington Post and other outlets that shared the original story used only snippets of the conversation to report on the conversation. These outlets alleged that his talk with Raffensperger Trump "…repeatedly urged him to alter the outcome of the presidential vote in the state."

On September 10, 2001, then U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld disclosed that his department was unable to account for roughly $2.3 trillion worth of transactions. The next day, the U.S. sustained the terrorist attacks that changed the world, and this startling revelation was forgotten.

When an account discrepancy occurs that cannot be traced, it’s customary to make what is called an “un-documentable adjustment.” This is similar to when your checkbook balance is off by, say, ten dollars; you add or subtract that amount to make everything balance with the bank. By 2015, the amount reported missing by the Office of the Inspector General had increased to $6.5 trillion—and that was just for the army. Using public data from federal databases, Mark Skidmore, a professor of economics at Michigan State University, found that $21 trillion in unsupported adjustments had been reported by the Defense and Housing and Urban Development departments between 1998 and 2015. That’s about $65,000 for every American.

There is no sign that the government’s internal auditors have made much headway in finding the missing money. Jim Minnery of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service traveled the country in 2002 looking for documents on just $300 million worth of unrecorded spending. “We know it’s gone. But we don’t know what they spent it on,” he said. He was reassigned after suggesting that higher-ups covered up the problem by writing it off. He’s not the only who thinks so. “The books are cooked routinely year after year,” says former defense analyst Franklin C. Spinney.

According to a 2013 Reuters report, the Pentagon is the only federal agency that has not complied with a 1996 law that requires annual audits of all government departments. The Pentagon has spent tens of billions of dollars to upgrade to more efficient technology in order to become audit-ready. But many of these new systems have failed and been scrapped.

Israeli media: KSA allows Israeli soldiers to fly over its airspace

The Israeli newspaper "Israel Hayom" reported Wednesday that it "received internal assurances that the soldiers of the Israeli occupation forces will be allowed to fly over Saudi Arabia."

The newspaper pointed out that this indicates that flight times to the Far East and the Seychelles Islands will be shorter.

Fire hits vacant Grossinger’s hotel, once a Catskills jewel

A fire consumed a building at the site of the long-closed Grossinger’s resort, once among the most storied and glamorous hotels in New York’s Catskills.

In its heyday after World War II, Grossinger’s drew hundreds of thousands of vacationers a year, many of them Jewish. The resort had a 27-hole golf course, indoor and outdoor pools, a nightclub, two kosher kitchens and a 1,500-seat dining room. It drew crooners like Eddie Fisher and has been cited as an inspiration for the 1987 movie “Dirty Dancing.”

The fire broke out Tuesday evening in a three-and-half story building on the old hotel property. Firefighters who responded to the scene had to cut through a gate and were hampered by overgrowth and concrete barriers. An excavator knocked down the structure after the fire was out, according to a Facebook post by the Liberty Fire Department.

It was not immediately clear what the building had been used for, though Sullivan County Fire Coordinator John Hauschild said the main building was torn down about four years ago.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

The former 812-acre resort is about 80 miles north of New York City.

Fisher not only made his debut at Grossinger’s, but married fellow entertainer Debbie Reynolds there in 1955. Other big names to appear at the resort were Joel Grey and Leslie Uggams, as well as boxers Rocky Marciano and Jack Dempsey.

Grossinger’s operated for nearly 70 years before closing in 1986, suffering the fate of many local hotels after the region’s appeal faded. The site fell into disrepair amid efforts to redevelop it.

'Israel' worried of nuclear deal with benefits to Iran

Israeli PM Yair Lapid has affirmed "Israel's" opposition to the revival of the JCPOA agreement of 2015, otherwise known as the Iran nuclear deal.

In a statement on Thursday by Lapid's administration and after a call with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz regarding the Iran nuclear deal, the statement read: "The Prime Minister reiterated Israel’s opposition to a return to the nuclear agreement and the need for Europe to send a clear and unequivocal message that there will be no more concessions to Iran".

The statement concluded with "Europe must oppose Iran buying time in negotiations. The two agreed to meet soon, as a reflection of the close relations between their two countries."

Positive development in the nuclear talks

Military analyst at the Israeli Walla! website, Amir Bohbot, described the situation as "Iranians pulling the Americans out of their noses with expertise".

Political sources in "Israel" said “We are definitely seeing that Iran is nearing the agreement," the sources claimed, but added: "This process contradicts the fact that there is no real rapprochement in the positions of the two sides. There is tension between the two contradictory vectors, but the preparation process is creating momentum and more positive discussion in advance of a deal.”

Iran has already provided an official response on August 15 to the JCPOA's offer regarding its revival and mutual collaboration with the involved parties.

The European Commission has from its side announced that the EU is reviewing the final draft of the deal, adding that it would consult with the other participants. The US Foreign Ministry confirmed last Tuesday that it also received Iran's response to the EU's proposal on reviving the deal.

Two days prior, a meeting of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council brought together Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, Iran's top negotiator, Ali Baqeri Kani, and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani.

Shamkhani reiterated Tehran's policy of not linking the country's economy to the nuclear negotiations, pointing out that "regardless of whether an agreement is reached or not, which in all cases serves the interests of the Iranian nation, and also with the very good coordination that was done between different parts of the country to advance the negotiations, there was no retraction of any part of the red lines and there will not be any in the future."

Bagheri Kani further commented that the Iranian negotiating delegation focused on obtaining the necessary and reassuring guarantees that Iran will benefit economically from the nuclear agreement, alongside Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani who affirmed positive development in the nuclear talks.

Gantz: Iran's closing in on nuclear power is worrying "Israel"

Israeli security minister Benny Gantz disclosed to the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper that the Iran nuclear deal, if an agreement is reached, should be a great one that doesn't leave any loopholes open.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Hello, everybody. I want to welcome His Majesty King Abdullah to the White House, and I’m very pleased to be able to return the extraordinary hospitality that he showed me and my delegation when we visited Saudi Arabia and when we visited His Majesty’s farm.

Since that historic meeting that took place 65 years ago between Franklin Delano Roosevelt and His Majesty’s father, King Abdul-Aziz, we have had a strong and strategic relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia.

I always value His Majesty’s wisdom and insights, and we have had a very productive session speaking about a whole range of issues that relate to both relations between our two countries but also issues of prosperity and security around the globe.

We talked about our joint interest and work together in combating violent extremism. And we talked about a range of strategic issues, including issues related to Afghanistan and Pakistan; Iran and its attempts to develop nuclear weapons capacity. We discussed the Middle East peace process and the importance of moving forward in a significant and bold way in securing a Palestinian homeland that can live side by side with a secure and prosperous Israeli state.

As representatives of two G20 countries, we also continued the conversation that took place this weekend about how the Saudi government and the United States government can work with our other partners around the world to keep the economic recovery going and to help bring about the strong economic growth that’s necessary to put people back to work.
