French officials using AI to tax private pools

Authorities took in an additional $10mn in tax revenue amid severe drought across the country

Tax officials in France are using a new AI program to find thousands of undeclared private swimming pools and have reportedly generated $10 million in additional tax revenue thanks to the technology.

 

France’s Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFiP) told AFP on Monday that during a year-long beta phase AI uncovered 20,356 previously-undeclared swimming pools in nine French departments. The program will now be extended across the country, and officials hope the system will be able to identify other withheld property improvements.

 

Under French tax laws, any modifications to a property, such as the inclusion of a swimming pool, must be declared. Property taxes in France are based on rental value, meaning that any improvements carry with them an increase in taxes. Local media estimated that a typical 30-square-meter pool would mean an extra $200 in taxes a year.

 

Developed by Google and Capgemini, the so-called 'Innovative Land' system cross-checks aerial images with land registry databases. As the system is expected to be rolled out across the entire country, tax officials hope it will learn to also recognize undeclared annexes, extensions, outbuildings, large garden sheds and verandas and bring French municipalities an additional $40 million in 2023.

 

The software still has a 30% margin of error, sometimes mistaking solar panels, tents and other rectangular shapes for swimming pools, meaning tax officials must double check the program's findings. It is reported that there are some 3.2 million private swimming pools in the country.

 

Meanwhile, environmentalists have been calling for a complete ban on private swimming pools amid the summer heatwave that had caused severe drought in many parts of France. Authorities have introduced varying degrees of drought warnings throughout the country’s municipalities, with at least 66 receiving the highest, 'crisis' level, restricting water use for health, civil security, drinking and sanitation uses.

 

The 'crisis' level also means it is prohibited to water gardens, golf courses, private crops, to fill pools, wash cars or operate water parks. The measure can also extend to limiting water usage to people, livestock and aquatic species.

JPMorgan's Frankfurt Offices Raided As Part Of Cum-Ex Tax Fraud Probe

German lawmakers have called it the "greatest tax heist" in history: the loophole in the tax law of Germany, Denmark, and the UK to pocket hundreds of millions of euros, if not billions, via a trading strategy known as "Cum-Ex" - or "With-Without."

 

In the past, we have noted Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, Barclays Plc, and Bank of America Corp.'s Merrill Lynch's Frankfurt offices were raided as part of a money laundering probe.

 

This week, JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s Frankfurt office was raided as part of a widening Cum-Ex scandal centered on cross-border tax fraud.

 

"A spokesman for Cologne prosecutors on Wednesday said searches at an unidentified bank started on Tuesday and included the homes of four suspects and an auditing firm that isn't a target in the probe. More than 50 officers are involved, including specialists, to unearth evidence buried in emails," Bloomberg reported Wednesday morning.

 

JPMorgan confirmed to Reuters that their "Frankfurt offices were visited this week" by "German authorities on their ongoing investigation" in the share-trading scheme that cost taxpayers billions of euros.

 

Cum-Ex reportedly diverted "at least 10 billion euros" in government revenue by exploiting German tax laws that allowed multiple investors to claim refunds of a tax on dividends that were paid only once, Bloomberg reported.

 

For those who aren't familiar with Cum-Ex, here's a quick rundown showing how it works, courtesy of the Conversation:

 

Party One, typically an asset manager who owns valuable company shares, "lends" its stock to Party Two, a bank. Under the agreement, the title and ownership of the stock is temporarily transferred to the borrower in return for a fee. Such practices are not only legal but a common part of "short selling," the practice featured in the 2015 film The Big Short. Essentially, it is where an investor borrows a stock (for a fee), sells it, then buys it back later at a lower price to return it to the original – on the expectation the stock's value will fall and a profit made.

 

Party Two then sells the shares with-dividend to Party Three fractionally before the Record Date. However, the shares are delivered without-dividend just after.

 

Timing, speed and complexity are key. Like a magic trick, the shares "disappear" fractionally before the Record Date and "reappear" with a new owner just after. The aim is to obscure exactly who – Party One, Two or Three – owns the stock on the Record Date. As a result, two parties can simultaneously claim ownership of the one stock.

 

Up until 2011, a loophole in the German tax code allowed both Party One (the owner of the original stock who had received the dividend and paid tax on it) and Party Three (the holder of the stock just after the Record Date) to claim a tax reimbursement. All colluding parties would then split the gains.

 

The practice was abolished in 2012, but prosecutors in Cologne are probing about 1,500 people and increasing pressure on international banks.

The Missouri Office of Disciplinary Counsel ruled in April that Gardner will face no disciplinary action for her lawlessness that resulted in the removal of popular Missouri Governor Eric Greitens.

On Tuesday the state’s highest court fined Gardner only $750 for her offenses and lawlessness.

American Robert Moore had sent hundreds of 'strange and offensive' packages to Buckingham Palace

His remains were found on the private West Island by a tree surgeon

 

The body of a loner obsessed with the Queen lay undiscovered just 100 yards from Buckingham Palace for three years, an inquest was told.

Robert Moore, 69, had set up camp on a tiny island at one end of St James’s Park which is home to wildfowl and has ‘an excellent, unimpeded view of the palace’.

There the American, who arrived in the UK in 2007, appears to have lived in the undergrowth until his death, thought to have occurred around 2008.

His skeletal remains were not found until this year, despite millions of tourists walking within yards of the tree-shrouded island.

A tree surgeon working on behalf of the Royal Parks made the discovery on March 15.

So far no next-of-kin have been found in the United States and exactly where he came from is yet to be determined. Mr Moore was not on any missing persons lists.

Details of the castaway’s life emerged last week at his inquest at Westminster Coroner’s Court.

It heard of a 15-year obsession in which Mr Moore, who suffered mental health problems, was said to have sent hundreds of ‘strange and offensive’ packages to the Queen, including obscene and pornographic photographs.

He also bombarded Her Majesty with ‘peculiar’ letters, some running to 600 pages. He once posted a copy of his U.S. passport and boxes falsely warning that they contained dangerous substances.

Detective Sergeant Mike West told the coroner: ‘He had a fixation with the Queen and Royal Family. There would not be a better place to remain undiscovered with view of the Queen’s primary residence than West Island.’

While he had previously been in trouble with police in the U.S. for drink-driving and other alcohol-related offences, Mr Moore did not come to the attention of the authorities in Britain until his death. The U.S. Embassy declined to comment yesterday, citing privacy laws.

His skull and some bones were found lying on a decayed yellow cushion next to vodka bottles on the island, which is closed to the public and can only be reached by boat on the shallow lake.

Tests could not find any evidence of injury and the age of the remains meant no cause of death could be established.

A pathologist estimated they had been there for about three years.

Detective Sergeant West said: ‘With that great an amount of mulch on the remains it would have taken between two and three years to accumulate.’

Raul Ortiz, The Head of The U.S. Border Patrol has testified under oath that he believes the Biden administration’s policy of “no consequences” for illegal immigrants trying to enter the country has made the border less safe, caused an exponential increase in people attempting to cross, and has directly caused what he believes constitutes a “crisis”.

The footage of Ortiz’s comments was obtained by Fox News and comes from a deposition from last month relating to a lawsuit brought against the Department of Homeland Security by Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody.

The suit alleges that Biden’s ending of Trump administration policies, such as the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy where migrants were not allowed into the U.S. until fully background checked, has led to a mass migration emergency in the last year and a half.

“In my experience, we have seen increases when there are no consequences,” Ortiz said during the deposition, adding “There is an assumption that if migrant populations are told that there is a potential that they may be released, that, yes, you can see increases.”

“So, it will increase at an exponential rate. Is that what is being suggested here?” the attorney further probed.

“Well, I do think it will increase, yeah,” responded Ortiz.

The attorney also pointed to a spring 2021 memo that disclosed Biden’s immigration policies, asking Ortiz “Since President Biden was elected, does this document indicate that aliens illegally entering the United States perceive that they will be able to enter and remain in the United States?”

“Yes,” Ortiz replied.

Ortiz further described the southern border as being in “crisis” and replied in the affirmative when asked if the border is “less safe for Americans and aliens alike.”

Ortiz also agreed with a statement by the plaintiff attorney that “unprecedented numbers” of migrants have illegally entered the U.S. this year.

According to data from Customs and Border Protection, more than two million people have attempted to cross the border in the 2022 fiscal year so far.

That figure equates to a 22 year high.

The Biden administration has also repeatedly attempted to lift Title 42, which is aimed at preventing the spread of communicable diseases in the country by turning back those trying to enter from a country where that disease is rife.

Critics have pointed out that while vast numbers of undocumented and unvaccinated migrants are being bussed from the border to American cities, the administration has barred non vaccinated visitors, including high profile figures such as tennis star Novak Djokovic.

Responding to Ortiz’s deposition, AG Moody stated “The Biden administration caused the surge, made the border less safe and is flagrantly violating the very federal laws they swore to uphold. The Biden administration is putting hard-working border patrol agents in impossible and untenable positions — risking their lives and safety, and I want to thank Chief Ortiz for testifying truthfully at his deposition.”

The hearing was told Mr Moore had attached one of the bottles to himself.

The officer said: ‘There was a bottle attached to a belt attached to a safety pin attached to string. Street drinkers do this so if someone tries to remove the alcohol as they are asleep it will wake them.’

Several forms of identification were found in Mr Moore’s pockets, including a U.S. passport matching the copy once sent to the Queen.

The coroner, Dr Fiona Wilcox, ruled the cause of death was ‘unascertained’.

The case has been compared to that of a Frenchwoman who was obsessed with George V and stood for hours outside Buckingham Palace, believing the king was sending her signals by moving the curtains.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment. It is thought senior members of the Royal Household would have been unaware of Mr Moore’s obsession as their mail is screened.

A Royal Parks spokesman said: ‘This island is checked by wildlife officers three times a year. Work to prune trees and to inspect it closely is carried out every two years. We are planning to carry out inspections on a more regular basis.’

Have you notice a reduction of birds in your area, it could just be my area because I am just as big of a target to these scumbags as Trump is. They have attacked me by the utility companies when they dug in front of my house a few years ago as they set my neighbor up with solar panels. I now have hard water that killed my washer, damaged my dryer, and destroyed my water pik. My gas until recently had carbon monoxide orange flames, and they have used brown outs and surges to destroy my computer equipment. Two weeks ago my monitor phased out, then my computer, yet my air condition stayed strong; they have these capabilities to route electric. Every device gives off signals. They think their cute and like to mock but just reveal what they can do. Imagine what they do inside health institutions with this type of tech?

Netherlands' Admin Capital Is First City To Seek "Temporary Exemption" From EU Sanctions Against Russia

Remember when Europe showed Putin who's boss when it demonstrated virtue-shattering solidarity with Ukraine by committing economic suicide and imposing sanctions on most Russian energy exports?

 

Well, a little over six months later, Europe is facing a historic economic and social catastrophe thanks to energy hyperinflation which has been unleashed just as the ECB is set to hike rates into a frigid winter recession. Worse, not only have western sanctions have been an unmitigated disaster, the pain has been compounded by the fact that Russia is enjoying a new Golden Age for its oil exports (as the WSJ describes in "Russia Confounds the West by Recapturing Its Oil Riches").

 

So having realized just how meaningless and futile the sanctions were, Europe's "virtue-shattering solidarity" is starting to shatter, and one by one, participants in the unbreakable alliance are quietly hoping to sail away from the European Titanic before it loses all power.

 

Take the Dutch city of The Hague - the country's administrative and royal capital - which last Thursday said it would ask for a "temporary" exemption of EU sanctions against Russia, as it struggles to find a replacement for its contract with Russian gas supplier Gazprom in time, according to Reuters.

 

The Hague, which lost its existing access to Russian gas after the Ukraine invasion, has to find a new supplier of gas to replace its existing agreement with Gazprom. The city said it held an EU-wide tender in June and July, but failed to attract any bids from potential suppliers.Spoiler alert: it will find suppliers… it will just have to pay a lot more, something which apparently nobody in Europe realized back in Februarywhen everyone threw themselves off the sanctions cliff.

 

Individual talks with suppliers were certain to lead to an agreement, alderman Saskia Bruines wrote in a letter to the city council, but not before the Oct. 10 deadline.

 

"We will ask for an exemption for our current arrangement until Jan. 1 2023 to guarantee the safety of supply and to facilitate negotiations," she said, adding that she was confident the delay would be granted, as The Hague had fulfilled the condition of holding a timely tender without a positive result.

 

However, she added that any new contract set to enter into effect on Jan. 1 would be significantly costlier than the city's current arrangement with Gazprom. In other words, despite going back to square one, the Dutch metropolis will now have to spend order of magnitude more.

 

The Hague is one of many Dutch municipalities that have an energy contract with Gazprom, but is the first to indicate it will ask for an exemption to the sanctions. If granted what it seeks, expect every single other European municipality to follow suit.

Anybody find it odd that there is not a single photo of a member of the FBI at Mar a Lago? Google it. There are only photos of Palm Beach Police and Secret Service. Zero evidence that the FBI was ever really at Mar a Lago. No FBI jackets, no one carrying boxes out, no overhead photos of agents milling about. Alledgedly there were 40+ agents there. Seems to me that there would at least be a picture of their motorcade coming or going if not pictures of Feds in their FBI gear somewhere in or around Mar a Lago.

Swiss Politicians Petition For Country To Keep Nuclear Power

Switzerland is the latest country to get on board the "nuclear power before country-wide blackouts" trend, following in the recent footsteps of countries like Germany. In fact, a group of Swiss politicians has launched a petition with the intent of revising the country's energy policy to keep nuclear as part of the mix, as a way to guarantee having enough power going forward.

 

The country had planned to close its 5 nuclear reactors after a decision was made post-Fukushima in 2017. it has already shut down one reactor.

 

Now, politicians are trying to gather the 100,000 signatures necessary for a referendum to change the country's constitution and prevent nuclear from being shut out. Outcomes can take years to be put into effect after signatures are gathered, Reuters wrote this week.

 

The politician group, called "Stop Blackouts" said this week: "Until recently, Switzerland had safe and virtually CO₂-free electricity production: the environmentally andclimate-friendly combination of hydro and nuclear power is to be abandoned for no reason at all."

 

President of the committee Vanessa Meury said: "We cannot do without nuclear power plants."

 

Like Germany, Switzerland is also dealing with potential energy shortages as a result of the Russian war in Ukraine. It has already mulled the idea of four hour regional blackouts in the case of shortages.

 

As we noted days ago in a piece by Felicity Bradstock at OilPrice.com, an unjustified fear of nuclear energy is preventing the industry from moving forward.

 

It pointed out that despite a lack of public understanding of nuclear technology, meaning that it can sometimes be confused with nuclear weapons, there was a general optimism around nuclear energy when it first emerged several decades ago. It seems that the current negative public perception of nuclear power stems mainly from the nuclear disasters that were seen around the world in real-time.

 

Although relatively few died during these incidents compared to deaths worldwide from other energy operations, the incidents were widely televised and the fear of the unknown spread rapidly.

 

The piece also postulated that perhaps the only way to improve public perception of nuclear energy is through re-education that highlights the relative safety of the technology compared to other energy operations.

 

In addition, as the public and international organizations put pressure on state governments to go green, better marketing of nuclear energy could help shift the public perception, as people begin to see the carbon-free energy source as necessary for a green future. However, for now, governments are feeling the mounting pressure to ‘get it right’, with the potential for any mishap to add to the long-term demonization of nuclear power.

Understanding The Tyrannical Mind And How It Operates

All people seek to control their environment to a certain degree. They want a reliable level of management over their world, and to remove whatever doubts they might have about their survival in the future. If they can, people will take measures to remove any potential pain or struggle and establish a life of perpetual comfort. The easy road is the dream for most, and in order to get it human beings see power as a formidable tool.

 

I’m exploring this common condition because I want to make it clear that almost ALL PEOPLE desire power to a degree. Sometimes this even means controlling the actions of others to prevent them from disrupting the oasis of comfort we construct around us. Sometimes there are destructive people that we feel we are forced to inhibit and cage in self defense. And still other times, we try to control those around us out of irrational fear.

 

The tyrannical mindset is not exclusive to the Stalins, Maos and Hitlers of history, it is a deep rooted shadow that lurks in the majority of us at times. It is this condition that political tyrants try to exploit to their advantage, because no authoritarian government can ever be successful without the help of millions of little tyrants supporting them. They find a way to feed our desire for control and predictability while simultaneously enslaving us.

 

The point is, tyrants need us. We all have a little dash of tyranny in our souls; we are linked, but we are different.

 

This is not to say that order in itself is evil or that social structures are inherently oppressive. People need boundaries because not all people are good or sane; some are vicious, some are lazy, some are crazy, some are incompetent and some are dishonest and they drag the rest of us down. Anarchy is not the solution, but neither is totalitarianism. It’s all about who sets the boundaries and how.

 

This is where we uncover a specific human element that is obsessively attracted to control, not because they are afraid, and not because they want comfort, but because they enjoy the feeling of power. They are addicted to it. I’m speaking specifically about narcissists, sociopaths and psychopaths; they are members of our species but they are lacking the key psychological traits that make us human, such as empathy, conscience, imagination, love and shame. In almost every case of government gone wrong it is because these types of people were able to slither into positions of authority and take advantage.

 

Despite the exaggerated depictions in movies and TV, your average psychopath is not all that complex or interesting – The fact of their existence is interesting, but as people they tend to be boring. The idea of them is fascinating because they are a biological anomaly, an evolutionary mistake or maybe a spiritual deformity. Around 1% of any given population is prone to psychopathy and an even smaller percentage are high functioning psychopaths that are adept at hiding their monstrous natures.

 

Most average psychopaths eventually end up in prison or involved in an endless succession of life failures. They can’t get it together and maintain relationships and build a normal life because they are too self obsessed and dangerous and eventually the people around them notice. These types of people are what I would call the “little tyrants.” They seem to rise to the surface of society when times are desperate; when people are distracted by crisis is when psychopaths feel it’s safe to show their true natures.

For example, during the covid pandemic lockdowns and the government attempts to introduce draconian vax mandates the little tyrants were everywhere. They just appeared out of the ether and swirled around the authoritarian vortex like it was a feeding frenzy. They took pleasure in the opportunity to order others around about masks and vaccines and “social distancing,” even though none of these measures made ANY difference whatsoever to the spread of covid or the rather minor median Infection Fatality Rate of 0.23%.

 

They were being tossed scraps from the table of power and they savored every minute of it. The real science wasn’t on their side, but they didn’t care; the media and the government were on their side and that’s all that mattered. They were happy to be used as weapons against other citizens that just wanted to be free.

 

Beyond the symbiotic (or maybe parasitic) relationship between big tyrants and little tyrants, there are a set of standards that have to be met for tyranny to be successful:

 

Destruction Of Choice

 

At the core of tyranny is the removal of choice. Centralization is all about eliminating options for the public while telling them their lives will be streamlined, easier and safer. If people have options outside the establishment system or ideology then they might question the validity of the power structure. They might ask themselves “What if there is a better way than this?”

 

And, since there is always a better way than fear and slavery, tyrants have to engage in a constant war with all alternative ideas and principles. The only way they can be sure that people won’t rebel someday is to erase the existence of choice. Not only that, but they have to convince the masses that to even suggest another choice is sacrilegious and dangerous. The system must become absolute in all things and in every area of daily life.

 

Create A False Moral Paradox

 

Freedom is slavery – Ignorance is strength. It’s the old Orwellian paradox that perverts the meaning of words and deeds to justify tyranny. An extension of this twisted way of thinking is the religion of the “greater good”; the idea that all evils are justified as long as the “greater good” is accomplished. But what is the greater good? It’s anything the tyrants say it is; usually anything that helps them to gain more power. One would think that a “good” that is “greater” would entail more freedom and less fear, not less freedom and more fear.

 

As a part of the tactic of removal of choice, tyrants often create a fake moral conundrum in which people are told that their freedom is actually harmful to others, therefore their freedoms must be taken away “for the greater good.” Again, the covid medical tyranny experiment was built completely around this argument. What if your choice to not wear a mask, to not stay locked in your house and to not take a questionable vaccine harmed hundreds or thousands of others? Doesn’t that justify taking your choices away? These claims are complete fantasy, of course, but in the heat of a national panic people can be led to believe that the false paradox is real.

 

Obsessive Compulsive Expansion

 

As noted, tyrants are usually psychopathic personalities, and a part of this mindset is the compulsion to expand and devour. Like a growing amoeba, or that creature from the movie ‘The Blob.’ Their hunger for control is never sated, they will always want more.

People will be told that they are only losing one freedom, or two freedoms, or that their freedoms will be restricted “for a short time.” This is always a lie. Once tyrants gain new power they will hold onto it obsessively as if it is oxygen and without it they might die. And, then they will seek more powers because what they have is never enough. A friend of mine once described it this way:

 

Piled before the tyrant is a feast of kingly proportions, like a Thanksgiving Day feast flowing across his dinner table. You sit quietly without access to the table, but in your hands you do hold a little crust of bread. This is all you have and you cradle it carefully because it must be made to last. And even though the tyrant’s belly is full and he has more than he could possibly ever eat in a lifetime, all he can think about is YOUR little crust.

 

All he wonders about day and night is why you have that crust when it should be his. He grinds his teeth frothing in desperation for your meager meal. Then one day he decides he will not stop until your bread crust is in his hands while you starve. This is now his mission in life – To take your crust and crumbs and leave you with nothing. Any other outcome would be unimaginable.

 

He not only wants to steal your crust, but he wants to see your despair when he does it. He wants you to know he has your last meal, and he wants to see the pain in your face when he takes it away. Then, he wants you act like you love him for it.

 

This is how the mind of a psychopath works. Why do their brains function this way? There are many theories but no one really knows for certain. The majority of evidence suggests that they are actually born the way they are; with no conscience and no counterbalance to the madness.

 

The bread crust story is a metaphor, but it illustrates how psychopathic authoritarians view various freedoms – They are pieces of life that tyrants cannot tolerate you having in your possession. If we do not know them we cannot defeat them.

 

They are not complex and they are not necessarily ingenious but they are relentless and their simple methods can sometimes be very effective. Underestimating their obsession with control would be disastrous. That said, the one thing they value more than power is their own lives, and (if we're going to address solutions) until these people are made to understand that their lives could be the cost of their compulsions they will never stop. There is no reasoning with them. There is no diplomacy or compromise. There is no middle ground. They will continue to take until the losses they face outweigh the gains of treachery. Knowing their mindset brings us several steps closer to shutting them down.

A former Ohio school superintendent is accused of kidnapping two children in West Virginia, police said.

 

William J. Morrison III, 59, of Huntington, was arrested Thursday and charged with two felony counts of kidnapping, according to authorities.

 

About a week earlier, officials with the Huntington Police Department had asked the public to help them find a man who lured a 9-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl into his dark-colored Subaru Forester.

 

Morrison enticed the kids by offering them $20 to babysit, according to police. He drove a bit and then asked the boy to inspect a tire, and when the boy got out, Morrison drove off with the girl.

 

"The man ignored the girl’s demands to be let out of the vehicle, but the girl was able to open a passenger door and exit the vehicle a few blocks away," police said. Neither child was injured.

 

Morrison was superintendent of the Hamilton Local School District in 2017 when he was arrested on drug charges, according to NBC affiliate WCMH of Columbus. Police found a crack pipe and a suspected crack rock in his car, the news station reported, citing court documents. Morrison pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drug charge and was later fired, according to The Associated Press.

 

He is being held without bond at the Western Regional Jail in connection with the latest incident, AP reported. It's unclear if he has an attorney.

How to help a friend through a layoff

Dozens of companies have started to tighten their belts as executives look to cut costs amid a weaker economic environment. That means layoffs.

State of play: American companies announced nearly 26,000 job cuts in July — a 36% year-over-year jump.

Why it matters: Losing a job means more than just losing a source of income. There's also loss of community, self-worth and identity. And it might bring on feelings of shame or guilt.

Wanting to soothe or help a friend who has just lost a job is a natural reaction.

A few things to keep in mind:

Everyone responds to loss differently. Ask them what they need at that moment. It might be tea. A hug. Time, space or just for you to listen.

Unless they ask, avoid offering advice. The first few moments, hours and even days after a layoff can be destabilizing. Your friend may be overwhelmed with planning for their adjustment, or with worries about the future.

Avoid company bashing. Piling on a former employer may only serve to feed rumination (thinking about all the "what-ifs"), or even fuel self-bashing.

Limit saying variations of "everything will be ok." In the face of uncertainty, your friend is likely worried most about the length of their tunnel and not the light at the end.

Get permission before sharing their news or name for networking.

Share your own job loss story carefully. Your circumstances might be very different from theirs. And the economic environment surrounding your story might be too.

In his LinkedIn profile, he mentions that, during his time with the FBI, he held "various intelligence and law enforcement roles in the United States, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East" and was a "regional specialist in human intelligence and counterintelligence." .

PERSONNEL WANTED, AND IF IT COMES FROM THE CIA OR NATO, BETTER

The FBI is just one more in the list of agencies directly linked to the US government that Twitter has turned to to fill its plant. We are talking about the major leagues: the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization are on that list.

Regarding the CIA, one of its analysts, Michael Scott Robinson , who worked for ten years in the intelligence service, was hired to assume the position of general manager of integrity, trust and security policies of the social network.

FBI Agent Tim Thibault has issued a statement through attorneys following his recent departure from the bureau in which he says he has taken planned, eligible retirement and denies claims of political bias in his work – following news reports Monday that he was removed from a bureau office and suggesting he might have been fired.

 

"Claims to the contrary are false," he says through a statement released Tuesday by his attorneys.

The statement released through the law firm Morrison & Foerster LLP, which is representing Thibault pro bono, says Thibault played no part the bureau's Aug. 8 raid of former President Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.

However, the statement also acknowledges the bureau's Office of Special Counsel is investigating whether social media posts by Thibault violated the federal government's Hatch Act, which essentially prohibits civil servants from engaging in political activities.

 

The statement says Thibault expects to be "fully exonerated" when the probe is concluded and denies he "took certain actions in investigations for partisan reasons."

 

Whistleblowers have alleged partisan bias in Thibault's work at the bureau. And Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said in May that Thiebault "likely" violated federal regulations through politically-charged social media posts.

The Monkees’ Micky Dolenz sued the Justice Department on Tuesday to try to get secret files the FBI compiled on the pop rock band while they protested the Vietnam War in their 1960s counter-culture heyday.

The 77-year-old singer — the sole surviving member of the made-for-TV band — filed the lawsuit in Washington, DC, federal court after his attempts to obtain the records via the Freedom of Information Act were ignored, the legal papers say.

“This lawsuit is designed to obtain any records the FBI created and/or possesses on the Monkees as well as its individual members,” it says of the “renowned and beloved rock band.”

The FBI’s website confirms the band is a subject of two files — including, mysteriously, one that is “redacted entirely.”

The other is a 1967 Los Angeles Field Office memorandum that was released in a heavily redacted form in 2011 — unknown at the time to Dolenz and his attorney.

Under the misspelled subject “THE MONKEYS,” the file said it had looked into “four young men who dress as ‘beatnik types'” who “sang as a ‘combo.'”

An FBI informant — whose identity was redacted — detailed how The Monkees played live with “subliminal messages” on a stage — which “constituted ‘left-wing intervention of a political nature.’

“These messages and pictures were flashed of riots, in Berkley, anti-US messages on the war in Vietnam, racial riots in Selma, Alabama, and similar messages which had received unfavorable response from the audience,” the file said.

There was no mention of further action.

Dolenz did not even realize the redacted document existed when his lawyer pal and self-proclaimed “big fan”Mark Zaidfirst suggested on a whim that they see if the FBI had a file on him, Zaid told Rolling Stone.

That redacted document “just kind of reinforced for me that there was actually something here,” Zaid told the rock mag.

“It’s not just a fishing expedition. I mean, we’re still fishing, but we know there’s fish in the water,” he said, conceding that the completely redacted document “may be peripheral” to the band.

“Theoretically, anything could be in those files,” Zaid noted. “We have no idea what records even exist. It could be almost nothing. But we’ll see soon enough.”

The lawsuit noted that Dolenz and his late bandmates — Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork and Davy Jones — hung out with other rock stars eyed by the FBI, such as Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon.

And, despite being a fun-loving pop band, The Monkees also sprinkled anti-war sentiments into chart-topping songs like “Last Train to Clarksville,” Zaid noted.

The FBI at the time “was infamous for monitoring the counterculture, whether they committed unlawful actions or not,” the attorney stressed.

The lawsuit seeks “reasonable costs,” fees and relief as well as expedited copies and attorney’s fees as well as expedited copies of the withheld files “in their entirety.”

The FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

LONDON, Aug 31 (Reuters) - German authorities have searched the Frankfurt offices of JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM.N), a bank spokesperson confirmed, as long-running investigations into one of the country's biggest financial scandals affected another global lending giant.

 

The share-trading scandal known as "cum-ex", which has blighted German political and financial circles for several years, has cost taxpayers billions of euros, lawmakers claim.

 

A large number of banks have been searched by prosecutors investigating possible wrongdoing, with raids being conducted on the German branches of Barclays (BARC.L), Bank of America and Morgan Stanley in recent months.

 

Government officials say the investigation involves some 100 banks on four continents and at least 1,000 suspects.

 

"We can confirm that our Frankfurt offices were visited this week. We continue to cooperate with the German authorities on their ongoing investigation," a JPMorgan spokesperson told Reuters in an emailed statement.

 

Prosecutors in Cologne have been especially aggressive in pursuing the case. A representative told Reuters earlier this month it was currently investigating 50 international and domestic financial institutions and brokers.

 

A spokesman for Cologne prosecutors confirmed to Bloomberg News, which first reported JPMorgan's involvement, that a search was taking place in Frankfurt but declined to identify the target.

 

Bankers and investors participating in the scheme, also known as dividend stripping, would swiftly trade shares of companies around their dividend payout day, blurring stock ownership and allowing multiple parties to falsely reclaim tax rebates on dividends.

 

In the first major criminal trial for the fraud, two British bankers were handed suspended jail terms, and one was given a 14-million-euro penalty in Germany two years ago.

 

Another banker, a former employee of M.M. Warburg [M = 13] group, part-owned by one of Germany's oldest banking dynasties, was handed a 3-1/2 year jail sentence in February for his part in the scandal.

"Dr. Oz's team [has] made it abundantly clear that they think it is funny to mock me as a stroke survivor," Fetterman, now the state's lieutenant governor, said in a statement Tuesday. "I chose not to participate in this farce. Any sense that these 'challenges' were done in good faith is damaged."

 

Fetterman had a stroke in May and has only recently recovered enough to make a limited return to the campaign trail in a close race that in November will be key in determining whether Democrats or Republicans control the Senate.

 

Oz, former host of "The Dr. Oz Show," on Tuesday appeared to distance himself from the campaign in it appearing to have offered the accommodations as a challenge to Fetterman to debate.

 

"The campaign has been saying lots of things," Oz told Pittsburgh radio station KDKA. "Fetterman should be allowed to recover fully and I will support his ability … to get ready."

Abstract

Background

 

We have previously demonstrated that ivermectin used as prophylaxis for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), irrespective of the regularity, in a strictly controlled citywide program in Southern Brazil (Itajaí, Brazil), was associated with reductions in COVID-19 infection, hospitalization, and mortality rates. In this study, our objective was to determine if the regular use of ivermectin impacted the level of protection from COVID-19 and related outcomes, reinforcing the efficacy of ivermectin through the demonstration of a dose-response effect.

Methods

 

This exploratory analysis of a prospective observational study involved a program that used ivermectin at a dose of 0.2 mg/kg/day for two consecutive days, every 15 days, for 150 days. Regularity definitions were as follows: regular users had 180 mg or more of ivermectin and irregular users had up to 60 mg, in total, throughout the program. Comparisons were made between non-users (subjects who did not use ivermectin), and regular and irregular users after multivariate adjustments. The full city database was used to calculate and compare COVID-19 infection and the risk of dying from COVID-19. The COVID-19 database was used and propensity score matching (PSM) was employed for hospitalization and mortality rates.

Results

 

Among 223,128 subjects from the city of Itajaí, 159,560 were 18 years old or up and were not infected by COVID-19 until July 7, 2020, from which 45,716 (28.7%) did not use and 113,844 (71.3%) used ivermectin. Among ivermectin users, 33,971 (29.8%) used irregularly (up to 60 mg) and 8,325 (7.3%) used regularly (more than 180 mg). The remaining 71,548 participants were not included in the analysis. COVID-19 infection rate was 49% lower for regular users (3.40%) than non-users (6.64%) (risk rate (RR): 0.51; 95% CI: 0.45-0.58; p < 0.0001), and 25% lower than irregular users (4.54%) (RR: 0.75; 95% CI: 0.66-0.85; p < 0.0001). The infection rate was 32% lower for irregular users than non-users (RR: 0.68; 95% CI: 0.64-0.73; p < 0.0001). Among COVID-19 participants, regular users were older and had a higher prevalence of type 2 diabetes and hypertension than irregular and non-users. After PSM, the matched analysis contained 283 subjects in each group of non-users and regular users, between regular users and irregular users, and 1,542 subjects between non-users and irregular users. The hospitalization rate was reduced by 100% in regular users compared to both irregular users and non-users (p < 0.0001), and by 29% among irregular users compared to non-users (RR: 0.781; 95% CI: 0.49-1.05; p = 0.099). Mortality rate was 92% lower in regular users than non-users (RR: 0.08; 95% CI: 0.02-0.35; p = 0.0008) and 84% lower than irregular users (RR: 0.16; 95% CI: 0.04-0.71; p = 0.016), while irregular users had a 37% lower mortality rate reduction than non-users (RR: 0.67; 95% CI: 0.40-0.99; p = 0.049). Risk of dying from COVID-19 was 86% lower among regular users than non-users (RR: 0.14; 95% CI: 0.03-0.57; p = 0.006), and 72% lower than irregular users (RR: 0.28; 95% CI: 0.07-1.18; p = 0.083), while irregular users had a 51% reduction compared to non-users (RR: 0.49; 95% CI: 0.32-0.76; p = 0.001).

The Final Days of the Trump White House: Chaos and Scattered Papers

Government documents that President Donald J. Trump had accumulated were with him in roughly two dozen boxes in the White House residence. They were to go to the National Archives, but at least some ended up in Florida.

Four days before the end of the Trump presidency, a White House aide peered into the Oval Office and was startled, if not exactly surprised, to see all of the president’s personal photos still arrayed behind the Resolute Desk as if nothing had changed — guaranteeing the final hours would be a frantic dash mirroring the prior four years.

In the area known as the outer Oval Office, boxes had been brought in to pack up desks used by President Donald J. Trump’s assistant and personal aides. But documents were strewn about, and the boxes stood nearly empty. The table in Mr. Trump’s private dining room off the Oval Office was stacked high with papers until the end, as it had been for his entire term.

Upstairs in the White House residence, there were, however, a few signs that Mr. Trump had finally realized his time was up. Papers he had accumulated in his last several months in office had been dropped into boxes, roughly two dozen of them, and not sent to the National Archives. Aides had even retrieved letters from Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader, and given them to Mr. Trump in the final weeks, according to notes described to The New York Times.

Where all of that material ended up is not clear. What is plain, though, is that Mr. Trump’s haphazard handling of government documents — a chronic problem — contributed to the chaos he created after he refused to accept his loss in November 2020, unleashed a mob on Congress and set the stage for his second impeachment. His unwillingness to let go of power, including refusing to return government documents collected while he was in office, has led to a potentially damaging, and entirely avoidable, legal battle that threatens to engulf the former president and some of his aides.

Although the White House Counsel’s Office had told Mark Meadows, Mr. Trump’s last chief of staff, that the roughly two dozen boxes worth of material in the residence needed to be turned over to the archives, at least some of those boxes, including those with the Kim letters and some documents marked highly classified, were shipped to Florida. There they were stored at various points over the past 19 months in different locations inside Mar-a-Lago, Mr. Trump’s members-only club, home and office, according to several people briefed on the events.

Those actions, along with Mr. Trump’s protracted refusal to return the documents in Florida to the National Archives, prompted the Justice Department to review the matter early this year. This month, prosecutors obtained a warrant to search Mar-a-Lago for remaining materials, including some related to sensitive national security matters. The investigation is active and expanding, according to recent court filings, as prosecutors look into potentially serious violations of the Espionage Act and obstruction of justice.

Many questions about the mishandling of the documents lead to Mr. Trump, who often treated the presidency as a private business. But people in his orbit also highlight the role of Mr. Meadows, who oversaw what there was of a presidential transition. Mr. Meadows assured aides that the harried packing up of the White House would follow requirements about the preservation of documents, and he said he would make efforts to ensure that the administration complied with the Presidential Records Act, according to people familiar with those conversations.

But as the clock ticked down, Mr. Trump focused on pushing through last-minute pardons and largely ignored the transition he had tried to forestall.

A spokesman for Mr. Trump did not respond to a request for comment. Mr. Trump himself has denounced the F.B.I. search of Mar-a-Lago as a “witch hunt.” His office has said he had a “standing order” that materials removed from the Oval Office and taken to the White House residence were deemed to be declassified the moment he removed them, although none of the three potential crimes cited in the F.B.I. search warrant depend on whether removed documents are classified.

A lawyer for Mr. Meadows declined to comment.

Flouting Records Rules

In his final speech as president, Mr. Trump declared, “We were not a regular administration.”

His statement was indisputably accurate. From his first hours in office, Mr. Trump had always taken a proprietary view of the presidency, describing government documents and other property — even his staff — as his own personal possessions. “They’re mine” is how he often put it, former aides said.

But that was not the case. Under the Presidential Records Act, the law that strictly governs the handling of records generated in the Oval Office, every document belonged to taxpayers. Whether the materials were national security briefings, reams of unclassified documents automatically uploaded to a secure server in Pennsylvania or notes that Mr. Trump routinely ripped up or flushed down the toilet — all were government property to be assessed and, in most cases, transferred as part of the nation’s history to the National Archives.

Mr. Trump’s lawyers and aides were well versed in the records act, even if Mr. Trump routinely flouted it. Donald F. McGahn II, Mr. Trump’s first White House counsel, instituted a protocol for the proper handling of materials and gave presentations on the law to staff members, former officials said. After the 2020 election, White House officials held conversations about the fact that someone needed to retrieve documents that Mr. Trump had accumulated in the residence over many months, according to former officials.

By the end of the administration, the White House counsel, Pat A. Cipollone, and his deputy, Patrick F. Philbin, were keenly aware that Mr. Trump’s handling of documents was a potential problem, according to people in their orbit.

But it is unclear how much bandwidth either man had to deal with the issue. Mr. Trump was on contentious terms with Mr. Cipollone after the election and often berated the lawyer for objecting to his attempts to subvert Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory, according to former officials.

The release on Aug. 26 of a partly redacted affidavit used by the Justice Department to justify its search of former President Donald J. Trump’s Florida residence included information that provides greater insight into the ongoing investigation into how he handled documents he took with him from the White House. Here are the key takeaways:

The government tried to retrieve the documents for more than a year. The affidavit showed that the National Archives asked Mr. Trump as early as May 2021 for files that needed to be returned. In January, the agency was able to collect 15 boxes of documents. The affidavit included a letter from May 2022 showing that Trump’s lawyers knew that he might be in possession of classified materials and that the Justice Department was investigating the matter.

The material included highly classified documents. The F.B.I. said it had examined the 15 boxes Mr. Trump had returned to the National Archives in January and that all but one of them contained documents that were marked classified. The markings suggested that some documents could compromise human intelligence sources and that others were related to foreign intercepts collected under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

Prosecutors are concerned about obstruction and witness intimidation. To obtain the search warrant, the Justice Department had to lay out possible crimes to a judge, and obstruction of justice was among them. In a supporting document, the Justice Department said it had “well-founded concerns that steps may be taken to frustrate or otherwise interfere with this investigation if facts in the affidavit were prematurely disclosed.”

Adding to the disarray was the absence of the White House staff secretary, Derek Lyons, who managed paperwork inside the executive complex but had stepped down on Dec. 18, 2020. That left Mr. Meadows, a former House member with no significant executive experience before joining Mr. Trump’s staff, responsible for overseeing a transition process the president wanted no part of.

Mr. Meadows’s immediate predecessors in that role — President Barack Obama’s last chief of staff, Denis McDonough, and President George W. Bush’s final chief of staff, Joshua B. Bolten — had created teams to scrub West Wing offices of anything that belonged to the archives and made the stewardship of government records a priority.

It is unclear whether Mr. Meadows took the same measures, former aides said. But in the administration’s final weeks, the White House emailed all of its offices detailed instructions about returning documents and cleaning out their spaces. Mr. Meadows followed up on those notes and encouraged offices to comply, according to a person familiar with those conversations.

Mr. Meadows also assured White House staff members that he would talk to Mr. Trump about securing records, including ones stashed in the residence, according to two people with knowledge of the situation.

Regardless of whether Mr. Meadows followed through on those promises, by early 2021, after Mr. Trump had left the White House, officials with the archives realized they were missing significant material.

They reached out to, among others, Scott Gast, who had been a lawyer in the White House Counsel’s Office under Mr. Trump, and Mr. Philbin. The two men, along with Mr. Meadows and four other Trump officials, had been appointed by Mr. Trump on his last full day in office to work with the National Archives.

The archivists were particularly insistent about getting back the missing correspondence from the North Korean leader and a letter left on the Resolute Desk for Mr. Trump by Mr. Obama, both of significant historical value.

What we consider before using anonymous sources. How do the sources know the information? What’s their motivation for telling us? Have they proved reliable in the past? Can we corroborate the information? Even with these questions satisfied, The Times uses anonymous sources as a last resort. The reporter and at least one editor know the identity of the source.

Archives officials also asked Mr. Gast and Mr. Philbin about the roughly two dozen boxes that had been in the residence during the Trump administration’s final days. Mr. Philbin responded that he would work to get them in the hands of the archives and reached out to Mr. Meadows, who said he would help make it happen, according to former officials.

But archives officials did not get what they wanted until they traveled to Mar-a-Lago and retrieved 15 boxes of material in January 2022. Subsequently, archives officials told Mr. Trump’s team that they had identified social media records that had not been preserved, and that they had learned White House staff members had not preserved official business they had conducted on their personal electronic messaging accounts.

They referred the matter to the Justice Department. In the spring, both Mr. Philbin and Mr. Gast were questioned by the F.B.I. about the boxes; Mr. Cipollone was also interviewed at some point. A grand jury was formed.

In June, one of Mr. Trump’s lawyers signed a statement asserting that all relevant documents with classified markings from the boxes that had been requested — by then they were stored in a basement area at Mar-a-Lago — had been returned. The Justice Department would later file a detailed affidavit to a federal judge in Florida, revealing that the department believed possible crimes had been committed, precipitating the search on Aug. 8 at the club.

Declassifying F.B.I. Materials

One of the few robust discussions about government documents at the end of the Trump administration focused on Crossfire Hurricane, the F.B.I. investigation into whether the Trump campaign conspired with Russian officials. While that inquiry, which began in 2016, did not ultimately accuse Mr. Trump of criminal behavior, he remained obsessed with it throughout his term.

In Mr. Trump’s last weeks in office, Mr. Meadows, with the president’s blessing, prodded federal law enforcement agencies to declassify a binder of Crossfire Hurricane materials that included unreleased information about the F.B.I.’s investigative steps and text messages between two former top F.B.I. officials, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, who had sharply criticized Mr. Trump in their private communications during the 2016 election.

The F.B.I. worried that releasing more information could compromise the bureau, according to people familiar with the debate. Mr. Meadows dismissed those arguments, saying that Mr. Trump himself wanted the information declassified and disseminated, they said.

Just three days before Mr. Trump’s last day in office, the White House and the F.B.I. settled on a set of redactions, and Mr. Trump declassified the rest of the binder. Mr. Meadows intended to give the binder to at least one conservative journalist, according to multiple people familiar with his plan. But he reversed course after Justice Department officials pointed out that disseminating the messages between Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page could run afoul of privacy law, opening officials up to suits.

None of those documents or any other materials pertaining to the Russia investigation were believed to be in the cache of documents recovered by the F.B.I. during the search of Mar-a-Lago, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Mr. Trump’s final hours in office were in large part consumed by pardons. On the evening of Jan. 19, 2021, he pardoned Stephen K. Bannon, his former chief strategist, who had been indicted by federal prosecutors in Manhattan for defrauding Mr. Trump’s supporters.

The next morning, during his last minutes in office, he pardoned Albert J. Pirro Jr., the former husband of the Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, who in 2000 had been convicted of tax evasion and conspiracy and sentenced to 29 months in prison.

Amid the pardons, many or all of the boxes in Mr. Trump’s residence were shipped off — it is not clear precisely when or by what means — to Mar-a-Lago.

Letter for Biden

If Mr. Trump or Mr. Meadows needed a paradigm for the appropriate handling of government documents, they needed to look no further than Vice President Mike Pence’s office.

Two of Mr. Pence’s senior aides — Marc Short, his chief of staff, and Greg Jacob, his counsel — oversaw the indexing and boxing up of all of his government papers, according to three former officials with knowledge of the work.

Their goal: ensuring that Mr. Pence left office without a single paper that did not belong to him, one of the officials said.

That was in line with the record-keeping actions of the Obama administration, a process that was overseen by Dana Remus. She returned to the White House at 10 a.m. on Mr. Biden’s Inauguration Day to meet Mr. Cipollone in her new capacity as the incoming president’s counsel.

The meeting was short, and it set a pattern of amiable conversations between the two lawyers over the next year, according to people familiar with their interactions.

There were no comparable interactions between Mr. Meadows and Ron Klain, Mr. Biden’s incoming White House chief of staff.

After weeks of rebuffing Mr. Klain’s invitations to meet in person, Mr. Meadows told Mr. Klain to come to his big corner office — soon to be Mr. Klain’s office — at 10 a.m. on Inauguration Day, after Mr. Trump was set to depart. When Mr. Klain arrived, no one was inside. Mr. Klain waited until someone came to get him, saying that Mr. Meadows was in the basement, in the Situation Room. They finally met at 10:45 a.m.

“I’m sorry this meeting is late — I only have a few minutes to meet with you,” Mr. Meadows said, explaining that Mr. Trump had departed late for his final trip to Joint Base Andrews, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

That afternoon, Mr. Biden arrived in the Oval Office and found a letter waiting for him in a drawer from Mr. Trump. It was two large pages, with Mr. Trump’s distinctive handwriting visible to an aide watching Mr. Biden read it. The new president remarked that Mr. Trump had been more gracious in the letter than he had anticipated.

It was one of Mr. Biden’s first records that will have to be turned over to the archives.

Cheney, who has been a major critic of the former president, claimed the image revealed "yet more indefensible conduct by Donald Trump revealed this morning," according to a tweet posted Wednesday from her account.

 

The congresswoman, who recently lost her reelection bid to represent Wyoming in Congress, claimed she could have won the party's nomination in a tweet last week, had she decided to side with the former president in his allegation that the 2020 election was "stolen" by widespread voter fraud.

Who is Christina Bobb? DOJ suggests evidence of obstruction by Trump counsel

Former conservative media host Christina Bobb is part of former President Donald Trump's team of legal representatives who may have sought to conceal and remove classified government documents stored in a hidden room at Trump's Florida estate, according to court filings from the Justice Department.

 

Bobb, 36, worked for the right-wing One America News Networkwhen she touted Trump's 2020 election fraud claims and raised money for the 2021 audit of the Arizonaelection, a monthslong project last year that found no proof of fraud that would have changed the outcome of the election in the state two years ago. Now, Bobb is in the spotlight for the DOJ's allegations that she "likely" submitted false testimony on June 3 claiming all materials stored at Trump's estate had been handed over to authorities.

 

The former OANN host and attorney joined Trump's political organization Save America in March and has been part of his legal counsel since.

 

Officials at the DOJ published a 36-page filingTuesday saying a search warrant at the West Palm Beach estate, Mar-a-Lago, was obtained after gathering evidence "that efforts were likely taken to obstruct the government's investigation," with the former president's lawyers falsely claiming all sensitive recordshad been forfeited by the former president, adding that such records were "likely concealed and removed."

 

The "custodian" of Trump's records signed a sworn certification letter saying "any and all" records were handed over to the government on June 3, though the DOJ disagrees, citing evidence it gathered as part of the Aug. 8 FBI raid at Trump's estate.

 

DOJ records do not specify whom the signee of the certification letter is, though multiple sources with knowledge about the investigation have suggested Bobb signed off,according to the New York Times.

 

A statement from Bobb attached to the DOJ's Tuesday filing said that "based upon the information that has been provided to me," there had been a "diligent" search and all documents responsive to the subpoena were being returned.

 

Following Bobb's work at OANN, she began volunteer work with Trump's legal team in November 2020. Bobb has also been tapped as one of six of the former president's lawyers to be subpoenaed by the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol
