Child workers found throughout Hyundai-Kia supply chain in Alabama

At least four major suppliers of Hyundai and sister company Kia have employed child labour at factories in the US state of Alabama in recent years, a Reuters investigation found.

Key points:

US state and federal authorities are investigating as many as six other manufacturers in Hyundai's Alabama supply chain

Reuters found staffing agencies placed migrant minors in plants where regulations ban kids from working

Hyundai subsidiaries Hwashin and Ajin said they hadn't, "to the best of our knowledge," hired underage workers

United States state and federal agencies are also probing whether kids have worked at as many as a half-dozen additional manufacturers throughout the automakers' supply chain in the southern US state.

At a plant owned by Hwashin America, a supplier to the two car brands in the south Alabama town of Greenville, a 14-year-old Guatemalan girl worked this May assembling auto body components, according to interviews with her father and law enforcement officials.

At plants owned by Korean auto-parts maker Ajin Industrial, in the east Alabama town of Cusseta, a former production engineer told Reuters he worked with at least 10 minors.

And six other ex-employees of Ajin said they, too, worked alongside multiple underage labourers.

In two separate statements sent by the same public relations firm, Hwashin and Ajin said their policies forbid the hiring of any worker not of legally employable age.

Using identical language, both companies said they hadn't, "to the best of our knowledge," hired underage workers.

The employment of children at Hwashin and Ajin has not been previously reported.

The news follows a Reuters report in July that revealed the use of child workers, one as young as 12, by SMART Alabama, a Hyundai subsidiary in the south Alabama town of Luverne.

In August, the US Department of Labor said that SL Alabama, another Hyundai supplier and a unit of South Korea's SL Corp, employed underage workers, including a 13-year-old, at its factory in Alexander City.

Since then, as many as 10 Alabama plants that supply parts to Hyundai or Kia have been investigated for child labour by various state and federal law enforcement or regulatory agencies, according to two people familiar with the probes.

Mary Ferrell’s life changed forever on the day that John F. Kennedy died. The 41-year-old mother of four, who was working as a secretary for a Dallas law firm, was standing a few blocks from Dealey Plaza where the 35th president was shot dead on November 22, 1963. Listening to the radio moments after the assassination, Ferrell heard a description of the suspect, who was first characterized as a white male in his 30s and more than six feet tall, wearing a white shirt and khakis. A short time later, she was surprised when a 24-year-old wearing a brown shirt and brown trousers was arrested.

Israeli charged in US for smuggling components used in nukes to Russia

Kyiv-born Alexey Brayman alleged to have shipped sensitive components from his New Hampshire home, including semiconductors used in ballistic missiles; 6 others indicted

An Israeli citizen was among seven people charged by US prosecutors this week with smuggling sensitive electronic components to Russia that could potentially be used to make nuclear weapons.

US prosecutors claimed the group worked with two Moscow-based companies controlled by Russian intelligence services to acquire electronic components in the US that have civilian uses, but can also be used to help make nuclear and hypersonic weapons and in quantum computing.

One of those indicted is 35-year-old Alexey Brayman, who holds Israeli citizenship but is a resident of Merrimack, New Hampshire.

According to The Boston Globe, Brayman was born in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. The court agreed at a hearing on the charges that he would be allowed to return to his New Hampshire home, but he was fitted with a location tracker.

The indictment, cited by CBS, said Brayman “repeatedly used the New Hampshire residence as a transshipment point for repackaging sensitive military-grade and export-controlled items and forwarding them to intermediate locations in Europe and Asia, from where they were transshipped to Russia.”

The Boston Globe said prosecutors charged the equipment “could make a significant contribution to the military potential or nuclear proliferation of other nations or that could be detrimental to the… national security of the United States.”

According to the newspaper, supplies smuggled through the Drayman family home included semiconductors — key to producing the ballistic missiles that Russia has deployed to deadly effect in Ukraine.

The exporting of the technology involved in the case is heavily regulated and occurred in violation of US sanctions, according to a 16-count indictment unsealed Monday in Brooklyn.

“The Department of Justice and our international partners will not tolerate criminal schemes to bolster the Russian military’s war efforts,” Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said in a statement announcing the charges.

However, the Boston Globe noted Brayman had posted on Facebook a clip of Ukrainian performers on the “America’s Got Talent” television show highlighting the years-long conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.

The report said that even as equipment was allegedly smuggled through their New Hampshire home en route to Russia, Brayman’s wife Daria posted a call for donations to a charity that was helping Ukrainians amid the invasion.

The couple’s Facebook pages, now apparently taken down or set to private, also reportedly documented at least one vacation to Israel.

The Boston Globe likened the case to a plot line from “The Americans,” a drama in which a pair of Russian spies lived undercover in suburbia.

Neighbors told the outlet that the Braymans run an online crafting company and participated in community activities.

“It’s crazy. You just never know who’s in your neighborhood and what they’re doing behind closed doors,” neighbor Mike Benoit told CBS.

Brayman’s attorney David Lazarus said in an email that his client has not been convicted of anything and is entitled to the presumption of innocence.

US Believes Ukraine Can Retake Crimea, But May Provoke Nuclear Escalation

The White House believes Ukraine’s military could retake the Crimean Peninsula from Russia. However, officials say the offensive may cross Moscow’s "red lines" and prompt a nuclear strike.

The Biden administration has radically changed its view of Kiev’s military since Russia invaded nearly ten months ago. The Ukrainians "continue to shock the world with how well they’re performing on the battlefield," an unnamed official said.

The White House now assesses that the Ukrainian armed forces are capable of retaking Crimea, with NBC News reporting that statements to that effect were made to lawmakers during a Congressional hearing last month. The administration official was attempting to explain to Congress why Kiev still needs American support.

The Crimean Peninsula was a region of Ukraine before it was annexed by Russia in 2014. While a referendum of Crimean citizens backed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision, Kiev and Washington assert the peninsula still belongs to Ukraine.

Sources reached by NBC News said the White House believes Putin will respond sharply to a successful Ukrainian offensive in Crimea. "Putin may react more strongly to Crimea," one official said, while a former administration staffer added "That’s the red line."

The White House does not believe Ukrainian military operations in Crimea to be imminent. "A lot would have to happen militarily first" before Ukraine could begin a real offensive to retake Crimea, an official stated.

However, the Biden administration has been surprised by some of Ukraine’s most advanced military operations. Two US officials and an American defense staffer said the White House was caught off guard and frustrated after Kiev launched a series of three drone attacks strikes deep inside Russian territory.

The billionaire divorcée this week detailed $14 billion in donations she has given to more than 1,600 nonprofit groups since 2019. The giveaway makes Scott one of the biggest philanthropists in the world, rivaling Warren Buffett and Bill Gates. Scott, who lined her pockets with $38 billion in a divorce settlement after Bezos ran off with CNN's Lauren Sánchez, has said she would direct her giving toward organizations doing "transformative work" in the areas of race, gender, climate change, democracy, and economic inequality. In blog posts explaining her philosophy, Scott lamented that "a civilization this imbalanced is not only unjust, but also unstable."

Scott, who divorced her second husband earlier this year, has contributed to traditional charities like the Boys & Girls Club, the NAACP, and others. But she has also backed groups that push extremist views on the issues of transgender rights, race, and Israel.

Scott funds the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund, an advocacy group that aims to set legal precedents to force insurance companies and Medicaid to cover medical treatment for transgender people. The fund advocates for coverage of "chest surgery for transgender minors," a radical treatment that has been outlawed in multiple states.

She contributed to the Movement for Black Lives, which seeks to defund police departments and backs a boycott of Israel. The organization has referred to Israel as an "apartheid state" that commits "genocide" against Palestinians. In 2020, Scott contributed to the National Bail Fund Network, a group that backs the Minnesota Freedom Fund, an organization that has posted bail for multiple murderers and pedophiles.

Scott has also sent tens of millions of dollars to foreign charities, including some aligned with America’s adversaries.

She gave $20 million in 2020 to the Energy Foundation China, a Beijing-based climate change think tank with links to the Chinese government. The group, led by a former Chinese government official, promotes China’s Belt and Road Initiative, the global infrastructure program that Beijing has used to expand its economic, military, and diplomatic influence abroad. The foundation awarded grants last year to the Belt and Road Initiative Center, a think tank overseen by China’s National Reform and Development Commission, the Chinese Communist Party’s economic planning commission.

American officials have warned that Belt and Road poses a national security threat to the United States. In 2019, Sen. John Cornyn (R., Texas) said in a congressional hearing that China used Belt and Road as a "trojan horse" to set up military installations in Djibouti.

Scott encourages other philanthropists to donate to her causes.

"I recommend these organizations to anyone similarly excited by the idea of empowering leaders well-positioned to accelerate progress," she wrote. "And every one of them would benefit from more allies looking to share wealth of all types and sizes, including money, volunteer time, supplies, advocacy, publicity, networks and relationships, collaboration, encouragement, and trust."

Grassley, Hawley slam DHS for redactions of disinfo docs: 'The people’s business ought to be public'

Two Republican senators this week slammed the Department of Homeland Security for what they said were overzealous redaction decisions pursuant to an oversight request made by the senators themselves.

In their letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley and Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley criticized the department for its response to a request for documentation the two lodged in June of this year.

Of the two responses the senators received, they wrote, one "did not answer any of the ten questions" they originally posed, while the other consisted of "two documents already in the public domain" and "500 pages of material, approximately half of which are mostly or entirely redacted."

"We remind you that the oversight letters we send to the Executive Branch are signed in our capacity as sitting members of Congress, a separate and co-equal branch of government," the senators wrote.

Noting that DHS cited Freedom of Information Act disclosure privileges in making the redaction, Hawley and Grassley pointed out that FOIA provisions "do not apply to the oversight requests we submit in our capacity as constitutional officers and should not be applied to the materials that DHS produces in response to congressional requests."

"Simply put, Congress controls when to make documents within its possession public, not DHS, and the people’s business ought to be public," they argued.

The senators demanded that DHS provide "full and complete responses" to its earlier inquiries, as well as "a detailed description of DHS’s policy for responding to congressional oversight requests," by Dec. 29 of this year.

As a former Defense Intelligence Agency officer specializing in Russia, I often am asked why the United States doesn’t just take out Vladimir Putin.

Russia’s president is clearly a bad dude. So far, in his barbaric 10-month war against Ukraine, Putin’s forces have bombed maternity wards, tortured civilians and abducted their children, shipping them to Russia by force. His missiles have pounded vital infrastructure, leaving Ukrainians without electricity or drinking water amid freezing winter temperatures.

His illegal invasion has also led to a global energy crisis and exacerbated skyrocketing inflation across the West. US leaders watch the conflict nervously, worried it could spiral into World War III.

For many, getting rid of Putin seems like an easy fix. But while the United States maintains a doctrine — albeit a secret one — that permits, in exceptional cases, targeted killings of foreigners, Washington will almost certainly not order the assassination of Russia’s strongman. Here are three reasons why.

First, the US Constitution prohibits the use of lethal force outside of armed conflict zones unless it is used against an individual who presents a concrete, imminent threat of grave harm to the United States and is participating in hostilities against the homeland — and only as a last resort. Putin does not meet this requirement.

It is true that the Central Intelligence Agency has targeted foreign leaders for death in the past. In the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, for example, the CIA maintained a top-secret counter-terrorism assassination program against high value targets such as al Qaeda commanders. Authorized by former President George W. Bush, this covert mission was performed by private paramilitary contractor firms that employ ex-Special Forces operatives.

From 1945 till approximately 1970s, the CIA ran covert operations targeting foreign leadersdeemed a threat to the US. Among the targets were Cuban leader Fidel Castro, Congo’s first prime minister, Patrice Lumumba, Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo, President Sukarno of Indonesia and President Ngo Dinh Diem of South Vietnam. Lethal viruses, explosive cigars and other spy-thriller type tactics were all used.

Around 1954, the CIA had 58 names on its “A” hit list of those to be assassinated, as part of its covert $2.7 million program code-named PBSUCCESS, aimed at the overthrow of Guatemalan President Jacobo Arbentz. But, following President Gerald Ford’s 1976 executive order that banned political assassinations by US government employees, the agency largely got out of this dirty business. A year prior, an 89-page report titled “Summary of Facts – Investigation of CIA Involvement in Plans to Assassinate Foreign Leaders” was removed from the National Archives….

Top Maricopa election offices couldn't reconcile 15k disparity in outstanding votes: internal email

"Unable to currently reconcile [Secretary of State] listing with our estimates from yesterday," Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer wrote in a Nov. 10 email.

Recently disclosed internal communications between top election officials in Arizona's Maricopa County in the immediate aftermath of Election Day reveal that they struggled to reconcile a discrepancy of almost 16,000 in outstanding ballot totals.

The governor's race in Arizona was decided by a margin of just over 17,000 votes.

Maricopa County was plagued by numerous issues with ballot machines at many of its vote centers on Election Day, resulting in delays and long lines.

Prior to a Maricopa County press conference with Board of Supervisors Chair Bill Gates and Recorder Stephen Richer on Nov. 10, Richer sent an email to Elections Director Scott Jarrett, Gates and others about a significant discrepancy between the county's estimated remaining ballot totals and the number reported by the secretary of state's office.

Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs was also the Democratic nominee for governor in the Nov. 8 election.

"Unable to currently reconcile SOS listing with our estimates from yesterday," Richer wrote, showing that Maricopa County estimated having 392,000 ballots left to be counted, while the secretary of state's website said there were 407,664 ballots left.

"So there's a 15,000 difference somewhere," Richer said, although the discrepancy cited was closer to16,000.

The recorder's office did not provide comment on the ballot discrepancy by publication deadline.

The Richer email was among the communications obtained via a public records request submitted by America First Legal Foundation. The email is found on page 9 in the records below:

In an email forwarded to Jarrett by the chief of staff for Board of Supervisors Vice Chairman Clint Hickman, a poll worker said that at their vote center, the ballot tabulators worked 75% of the time, as approximately 400 of 1600 in-person votes were "misreads and put in slot 3."

"Ballots were put in the tabulator several times to get accepted," the poll worker reported. "Ballots were flipped, put in backwards, flipped again before it might get accepted."

The poll worker further reported that a voter who recently moved between cities within the state received a ballot for only federal elections, not state elections.

"Totally unacceptable," the poll worker commented.

"These errors need to be resolved," the poll worker concluded.

The email from the poll worker is on page 6 of the file embedded above.

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors voted to certify its election on Nov. 28, after listening to a flood of complaints from voters regarding issues they experienced trying to vote.

Mohave County certified its election "under duress," after being threatened with possible felony charges by Secretary of State Hobbs' office. Cochise County chose not to certify until a judge ordered them to, following a lawsuit against them filed by the secretary of state's office.

According to a lawsuit filed by GOP gubernatorial nominee Kari Lake challenging the administration of the 2022 election in Maricopa County, a poll found that 58.6% of Republican voters in the county "reported having issues while trying to cast a ballot on Election Day," compared to 15.5% of Democrat voters.

The lawsuit also alleges that 59% of Maricopa County's 223 vote centers suffered ballot printer and tabulator failures.

That’s when a transgender student entered a girls bathroom at Edmond Memorial High School in Edmond, Oklahoma and got into a fight with two female classmates. Second, even if the CIA did get authorization for such an operation, it would be extremely difficult to execute. Putin and the members of his inner circle are under constant protection by the Federal Security Service. Putin himself is protected by guards from the Presidential Security Service, or “People in Black.” National Guard — or Rosgvardia — is responsible for the survival of Putin’s entire regime.

Rosgvardia, a special branch consisting of elite soldiers with decades of service in security and counter-intelligence, is headed by Viktor Zolotov, Putin’s close ally and a fellow former KGB operative. In the early 1990s, Zolotov served as the bodyguard for Anatoly Sobchak, then-mayor of Saint Petersburg, President Boris Yeltsin and, of course, Putin himself, who was then Sobchak’s vice mayor. And it is unlikely that anyone, outside of his very small inner circle, could get close to Putin.

Third, as an operative with decades of service in the KGB — one of the world’s most brutal intelligence services — Putin is highly primed for an attempt on his life, and he has likely concocted various contingency plans to ensure his survival.

As part of a hypothetical exercise in April, myself and a professional associate of mine, a military and intelligence psychiatrist, were both presented with the question — “If US special forces were closing in on Putin, would he kill himself or surrender?

“Neither,” we both answered.

My colleague and I assessed that Putin would try to flee, rather than commit suicide or capitulate. The spy master has likely developed multiple scenarios for his escape, and if plan A doesn’t work, he would execute Plan B, then Plan C.

Based on his psychological profile, Putin is likely to fight back, rather than give up. His hyper-confidence and arrogance pre-dispose him to believe that he could outsmart anyone. Were his life in danger, it’s likely he could come up with a solution that no one has thought of before, right on the spot.

As someone who has almost certainly authorized several assassinations himself, to eliminate his critics and political opponents, Putin is always thinking ahead. As he once said, “If you want to win, then you have to fight to the finish in every fight, as if it was the last and decisive battle. You need to assume that there is no retreat.”

Israeli journalist suggests kidnapping Hamas' children for hostage deal

This week, Hamas released a photo of a rifle it claimed belonged to hostage Hadar Goldin.

Channel 13's Arab affairs correspondent Zvi Yehezkeli suggested that Israel should kidnap Hamas officials' children in order to reach a deal to return Israeli hostages in Gaza in a 103FM interview on Friday.

At an event to celebrate 35 years after the forming of Hamas, the terror organization presented a Tavor rifle it claimed belonged to Hadar Goldin whose body was taken hostage in 2014. Yehezkeli opened the interview by discussing this move.

"It's psychological warfare," he said. "Changing the mentality is all Hamas has at hand when it's trapped in the Gaza Strip. Even though it exported terrorism to the West Bank, it's actually trapped."

When asked if Hamas believes it can get Israel to agree to another deal in which thousands of terrorists are released like the Gilad Shalit deal, Yehezkeli responded that "the Israeli population, the defense system and the leadership sobered up from that story. We see all the terrorism that has happened as a result of all those released terrorists, and we understand that it cannot happen again."

He claimed that the negotiations are stuck because Israel will not release thousands of terrorists for the hostages in Gaza. "The claims from the Goldin family that Israel hasn't done enough are correct. There are still many more things Israel can do. Israel hasn't tried to kidnap sons of Hamas officials."

What was Israel's biggest mistake?

Yehezkeli added that "the Hamas of today is the Palestinian people's legitimate representative more so than the Palestinian Authority. It grew and bloomed after a good few Israeli mistakes.

He further claimed that Israel's first mistake was supporting Hamas.

"Between 1982 and 1987, until Hamas announced the Jihad as its own, Israel supported it and even built it mosques in Gaza because it thought that Hamas would be an opposing power to the Palestine Liberation Organization," he said. "After Hamas declared the Jihad as its own in 1987, we got a violent jihadic movement that doesn't accept our existence, and that's a success for Hamas."

He told Tucker Carlson: 'They were actually opening up new back channels on platforms I've not heard of before, in order to keep in touch with one another.

'If this was happening during the Pentagon Papers, and we were seeing this level of collusion between the federal government and news, there would rightly be an outcry.'

Biden is Poised to Block Evidence of his own Role in his Son’s Influence Peddling Schemes

The irony and hypocrisy should be lost on no one.

The National Archives is aiming to release hundreds of pages of emails about Hunter Biden and Burisma collected during Joe Biden’s years as Vice President in the Obama Administration. But now that the elder Biden is president, he is angling to block any of the records that might confirm his son’s suspected corruption and expose the father’s complicity. In a story first reported by Business Insider, the White House is refusing to say whether it will stop the release.

The irony and hypocrisy should be lost on no one.

Biden weaponized his Department of Justice to go after Trump documents under the Presidential Records Act and scoffed at his predecessor’s assertion of executive privilege. Now, Biden is reportedly considering the use of executive privilege and the same Records Act to prevent the release of his own documents that may incriminate him in his son’s influence peddling schemes involving the Ukrainian energy company. Evidence shows that foreign entities and governments including Russia, Ukraine, and China forked over tens of millions of dollars for access and promises of influence.

In other words, Biden wants records that he likes to be handed over, but wants to keep records that he doesn’t like secret. Hypocrisy has always been Joe’s specialty

Biden promised “the most transparent presidency in history”. In truth, he’s the least transparent. Opaque is a better description. Much of what he does is shrouded in secrecy. For example, he refuses to disclose visitor logs at his Delaware homes where he’s spent a record amount of time meeting with people there. He refuses to make public his Senate documents housed at the University of Delaware. FISA court documents? Won’t make them public. Complying with legitimate FOIA requests. Won’t do it.

Biden’s potential use of executive privilege is itself an abuse. The privilege covers confidential advice that, if disclosed, would impair the function of government. That doesn’t remotely fit conversations about Burisma and his son’s illicit dealings with the Ukrainian energy company that paid him an absurd amount of money despite the fact that Hunter had no experience in natural gas or energy.

Moreover, in U.S. vs. Nixon the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the privilege does not apply to information that is relevant to a criminal case or investigation. Here, Biden’s son is under a criminal probe based on evidence of corruption, influence peddling, bribery, tax evasion, fraud, and money laundering. Burisma is a key part of it. Joe Biden was allegedly complicit.

So, the father cannot legally withhold documents under executive privilege.

Twitter had constant contact with the FBI. Between January 2020 and November 2022, over 150 emails were exchanged between the FBI and former Twitter Trust and Safety Chief Yoel Roth. Not all emails were secretive, however, some emails included requests for information into Twitter users who were a part of active investigations. A large amount of the emails between the two parties were requests by the FBI for Twitter to take action on election misinformation and accounts they deemed were spreading misinformation.

The Censorship Disclosed in the Twitter Files Is Just the Tip of the Iceberg

With the recent release of “Twitter Files 6,” avid Gateway Pundit readers and listeners of my podcast know that we have been discussing these very “portals” of government and non-profit censorship that have existed within Twitter and other social media platforms for non-profits like the EIP/CIS/EI-ISAC and government agencies to use for months in order to censor American citizens.

Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai has been talking about the EI-ISAC and CIS since early 2021 when he discovered these connections during his lawsuit against Massachusetts over his election “loss”. ToreSays has also been talking about the DHS contracts with the EI-ISAC/CIS for perhaps even longer.

Prior to Elon Musk spending billions to buy Twitter and passing this intel off to “blue checkmarks” to disseminate “credibly,” you may have looked at the above reporting as “conspiracy theory” or “fake news”. It’s not your fault. Many have been “programmed” to think that way: if it’s not on CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, or any of the other Mockingbird Media outlets, it can’t possibly be real. Plus, those very same outlets were telling you that it was “disinformation.”

Well, it wasn’t.

Elon Musk has alluded that these “portals” are still open today, allowing the DHS and other federal agencies to dispel what they consider “mis- or disinformation” regarding COVID, elections, schools, etc simply by submitting a “ticket” through a contracted non-profit that we are paying with taxpayer funds to take away our First Amendment rights.

It wasn’t just the EI-ISAC or CIS though that were colluding with social media platforms and other cohorts alike to censor the American people during the 2020 election. There were household names as well. Non-profits most of us would recognize: Common Cause, the NAACP, Defending Digital Democracy, MITRE, the National Conference on Citizenship, but perhaps, most notably, the AARP.

The AARP? The retirement organization?? Yes, the American Association of Retired Persons. According to the EIP’s Long Fuse Report:

The AARP collaboration was maintained by the Center for an Informed Public and was notable because it involved empowering and training retired adults to identify false or misleading information as part of a “Factcheck Ambassador” training program. The EIP worked primarily with the Washington State chapter of the AARP, but informational training sessions were shared with other chapters around the country.

The University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public’s website states the following:

To date, hundreds of AARP members have participated in Factcheck Ambassador training which teaches participants how technology makes it easy to create false images that appear real and how to spot misinformation.

During a heated U.S. election, ambassadors set their sights on election-related misinfo. “We were looking for findings related to fraud, participation, interference, procedural interference or anything that was meant to undermine the results of the or trust in the results of the election,” UW iSchool graduate assistant Stephen Prochaska, who has managed the Factcheck Ambassador program for the CIP, explained in an interview.

Factcheck ambassadors have also submitted over 70 tips, many of which became actionable research seeds, to the Election Integrity Partnership, a nonpartisan consortium of disinformation and misinformation researchers launched this summer by the CIP, Stanford Internet Observatory, Graphika and the Atlantic Council’s DFR Lab, that identified and tracked voting-related dis- and misinformation in the 2020 U.S. elections.

Twitter Files — Part Two: The aforementioned secret Blacklist was composed to target vocal conservatives and critics of Biden. Disfavored tweets were prevented from trending, and accounts were suspended based on phony grounds. Shadow-banning evolved into a powerful political weapon that was arbitrarily and capriciously deployed for partisan gain. A Stanford doctor, for example, who warned that COVID lockdowns would harm children was blacklisted. His tweets were all but entombed.

Twitter Files — Part Three: Twitter execs moved to “deplatform” then-President Donald Trump from their social media site in January of 2021 despite no legitimate basis to do so. They previously slapped warning labels on his tweets that were purely pretextual.
