Here we go, first arrest. This will set precedent so the other previous presidents can be criminaly charged without the chimp out riots happening when it occurs.

 

 

If the grand jury’s report recommends prosecution, a county district attorney in Atlanta, Fani Willis, will face the most consequential decision of her career – whether, for the first time in American history, to charge a former president with a criminal offence.

 

That could result in Trump sitting behind bars in Georgia when he expects to be out on the campaign trail. Provided he is not already serving time as the result of a federal investigation into his attempts to pressure election officials in several other states to rig the vote and his part in the 6 January 2021 storming of the Capitol.

This way everyone puts their accents, with foreign trips. Because in addition to Jambon in Catalonia and Verlinden in the US, Rudi Vervoort (PS), the Brussels prime minister, traveled to Cuba last week, an important destination apparently.

New wave of strikes reported against Ukrainian power grid

The country’s energy minister has warned that the “next few days will be difficult”

 

Multiple critical infrastructure facilities across Ukraine came under attack on Saturday, local officials and media outlets have reported. The strike has prompted emergency power outages in several regions of the country, Energy Minister German Galuschenko has said.

 

“There were hits in Kharkov, Lviv, Ivano-Frankovsk, Zaporozhye, Vinnytsia and Kiev regions,” Galuschenko wrote in a Facebook post, warning that the “next few days will be difficult.”

 

Ukraine’s largest private energy operator, DTEK, has reported damage to two thermal power stations (TPS) under its management. The facilities were targeted in previous attacks as well, the company noted, without specifying exactly which TPS have been affected. Unverified footage circulating online, however, suggests that a power station in Kiev Region was hit.

 

At least one residential building was allegedly damaged amid Saturday strikes, which happened in the southeastern Ukrainian city of Dnepr (previously known as Dnepropetrovsk). While the cause of the incident was not immediately clear, and Ukrainian anti-aircraft defenses have previously inflicted damage on residential areas on numerous occasions, the local authorities have squarely blamed Russia for attacking the building.

 

Russia drastically ramped up its strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure in early October of last year, citing repeated Ukrainian sabotage on Russian soil, including the bombing of the Crimean Bridge, which Moscow blamed on Kiev’s military intelligence service and its Western handlers. Although the incident was widely cheered by top Ukrainian officials, Kiev has denied any involvement in the massive car bomb blast that heavily damaged the road section of the bridge and killed three civilians.

Corruption scandal in Ukraine's 'International Legion:' Why an Australian TV star is accused of stealing millions 1 of 2

 

The organization's celebrity ‘conwoman’ has come under investigation for fraud

Few Russians or Ukrainians will likely have heard of ‘The Block’. It's an Australian reality show in which couples compete against each other to renovate homes and sell them at auction for the highest possible price. This may have provided the perfect cover for Emese Fajk, a participant who fled the land Down Under after she attempted to buy a renovated property at great expense using fake bank slips, to join Kiev’s International Legion as its official spokesperson.

 

Fajk was first publicly linked to the group in July 2022. To the extent the mainstream media has acknowledged its spokesperson’s criminal past before, it is in the context of her work for the armed forces offering her a chance at “redemption.” That opportunity, if it ever existed in the first place, seems well and truly spent, given that she – known in Kiev under the callsign ‘Mockingjay’ – is now being investigated for fraud by authorities in the East European city.

 

The essence of the accusations

Fajk is accused by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) of stealing millions of dollars worth of medical supplies intended for Ukrainian soldiers, and Legion funds, which she denies. She was reportedly involved in the disappearance of a “massive” $2.5 million US shipment of medical supplies, and siphoning international donations intended for Kiev’s war effort.

 

The medical supplies – which included painkillers, such as the deadly opioid fentanyl – arrived in late October, but never made it to the frontline. “Considerable efforts” to locate the missing shipment were conducted, to no avail. Fajk claimed to know nothing of the shipment’s existence in the first place, but testimony by the individuals who delivered it places her at the scene where it arrived.

 

The lack of supplies meant countless injured Ukrainian soldiers on the frontlines were left in agony for hours or even days while awaiting help. The SBU’s report on the incident notes that when further questions were asked of Fajk, and it became obvious to her she was under suspicion, some of the supplies miraculously turned up at long last.

 

The same cannot be said for the “large amounts” of money donated to the Legion, which were “confiscated by Mockingjay and sent to places unknown.” Since Fajk joined in April 2022, the group has relied on two fundraising organizations, both set up and solely controlled by her, including the Civil Front, which is based in Norway.

 

The SBU has documented how many legionnaires complained of a lack of transparency regarding these entities. Fajk is also said to have been caught on a secret recording admitting she “routinely utilized the funds in this account for personal profit.”

 

While Western journalists failed to ask serious questions about whether she could be trusted in her role, both public and private donors overseas were apparently extremely wary of her presence, and failed to provide pledged funds, in the millions, due to fears she would embezzle the money, and a general perception that the Legion was “plagued by corruption, incompetence and abuse,” which had “a chilling effect on fundraising, logistical support and recruitment.”

 

By the time she was placed under official investigation for fraud, Fajk had already been internally judged to be a security threat. She responded by threatening to release damaging information about the Legion, or expel legionnaires from the Armed Forces, “unless they did her bidding” and/or remained silent about their concerns over her leadership…

“In every aspect of her job she has proven to be an abject failure. She does not have the confidence of the rank and file of the soldiers, local or international press or even those who work directly with her,” an SBU report obtained by the London's Daily Mail reveals. “It is a nearly unanimously held belief within the legion that she is a cancer on the organization that must be excised lest she destroy the entire body of the organization itself.”

 

This assessment was sent to the US Embassy in Kiev, which subsequently refused to have anything to do with Fajk, and asked for a different liaison with the Legion.

 

Symptom of a major disease

The Mail’s disclosures mark an exceedingly rare example of a Western news outlet acknowledging rampant corruption and criminality at all levels in Ukraine’s International Legion. Set up by President Vladimir Zelensky days after the Russian offensive began, it received so many applications from foreign volunteers that recruitment had to be paused in April, mere days after Fajk herself joined.

 

Many of those enlisting were young, impressionable males taken in by media tales of Ukrainian heroism, who had little or no experience in the military, let alone of direct combat, and a growing number have paid for that decision with their lives. Those who survive frequently leave within mere days or weeks, as they are sent straight to the frontline to serve as cannon fodder, facing a relentless, and highly deadly, Russian artillery onslaught.

 

As RT has previously documented in detail, several foreign fighters from English-speaking countries have testified publicly to how poorly trained, undisciplined new recruits and veteran mercenaries alike buckle under the hopeless realities of the conflict, a situation greatly exacerbated by a lack of supplies, air support, artillery cover, or extraction teams.

 

These are frequent features of interviews with Legion veterans, but they most commonly report unbridled corruption and theft. For example, a former legionnaire who joined from the US Marines has spoken of a thriving black market for Western weapons, such as anti-tank missiles, which are stolen in a highly professionalized, systematic manner. Upon reaching the frontline, an unmarked van would subsequently arrive to ferry the arsenal away to places unknown.

 

Another former Legion fighter claims NATO anti-aircraft guns constantly disappeared from his unit’s armory within days, but despite the disappearances being reported to the SBU, no action was taken, and Legion commanders implicated in the crime weren’t punished. Meanwhile, anyone raising the alarm internally was threatened with being sent on suicide missions if they didn’t keep their mouths shut.

 

To date, all this bombshell testimony has been universally ignored by the Western media. Fajk’s story is the rare case that is not only reported on by a major news outlet, but also provided with extensive details. It is possible that the celebrity status of the suspect had an influence on the coverage of the conflict – as well as her previous criminal activity.

 

It is difficult to draw conclusions in this context, but with the proxy war’s Western donors increasingly questioning the wisdom of sending so much unaccountable money and materiel to Kiev, someone needed to be thrown under the bus.

Britain will supply Kiev with Challenger 2 tanks, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak vowed during a phone call with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Saturday. The move will make the UK the first country to ship Western-made tanks to Ukraine.

 

According to a press release published by the PM’s office following the call, Sunak and Zelensky concurred “on the need to seize on this moment with an acceleration of global military and diplomatic support to Ukraine.”

 

The British prime minister made it clear that London will provide Kiev with “Challenger 2 tanks and additional artillery systems.” The two leaders also welcomed “commitments in this vein” made by other European nations, such as Poland.

 

On Friday, The Guardian, citing Ukrainian sources, reported that 10 Downing Street was preparing to issue a formal announcement on Monday of plans to deliver tanks.

 

According to the sources cited by the newspaper, the number of units the UK is allegedly prepared to donate – just ten – would probably not have much of an impact on the battlefield dynamics. The move, however, would likely help push Germany into allowing its European allies to export their stocks of Leopard tanks to Ukraine, the paper claimed at the time.

 

Poland and Finland signaled their readiness earlier this week to send the hardware if Berlin gives the green light, and if they would not be in the position of taking the step alone. Germany, however, has so far not authorized re-exporting the tanks.

On Friday, a deputy government spokeswoman for the German government, Christiane Hoffmann, warned that delivering Leopards to Ukraine without Berlin’s authorization “would be illegal.” The official expressed confidence that the tanks’ European operators would adhere to these rules.

 

Russia, meanwhile, has repeatedly warned Western countries against sending weapons to Ukraine, arguing that doing so would only serve to prolong the conflict.

 

On Tuesday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the continued shipments of arms, accused NATO and the US of “definitely taking part in this conflict, although indirectly, by proxy.”

Kosovo PM trying to become ‘new Zelensky’ – Vucic

The Serbian president reminded Albin Kurti that borders are determined by international law

 

The prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, is trying to play the victim and paint himself as a “new Zelensky,” Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Saturday after meeting with US Department of State Counselor Derek Chollet.

 

“It’s a difficult situation for us, all the great powers have recognized Kosovo’s independence, don't expect anything nice and sugar-coated. It’s not from yesterday, there’s nothing to be surprised about,” Vucic admitted.

 

The president reaffirmed Belgrade’s stance that it sees Kosovo as a breakaway region and considers it an integral part of Serbia. Kosovo received partial international recognition, although its independence claim has been backed only by the US and most of its allies. Vucic noted that Kurti has been relentlessly trying to portray himself as a victim of Serbia’s purported aggression.

 

“Borders are not determined by Kurti, but by international law. This is another one of the desperate messages where he tries to present himself as a victim, as a ‘new Zelensky’, and me as a ‘little Putin’,” Vucic asserted.

 

Serbia and Kosovo were at odds throughout most of 2022 over Pristina’s plans to ban Belgrade-issued license plates in its jurisdiction. The controversial initiative prompted recurring tensions between ethnic Serbs and ethnic Albanians in the region. Kosovo’s heavily armed police units were deployed to Serbian-populated areas, prompting locals to stage protests and erect barricades in response.

 

Tensions were reignited earlier this month when two Serbian youths were wounded in a drive-by shooting near the town of Strpce. The incident occurred as the two were walking and carrying traditional oak branches as part of the celebration of Orthodox Christmas. The alleged shooter, who has been detained, turned out to be an ethnic Albanian. Belgrade has blamed the incident on Kosovo’s authorities, stating it was a direct result of the hostile policies pursued by Pristina.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Friday that the Big Apple is at its “breaking point” as record numbers of migrants continue to arrive.

 

The leader submitted an emergency mutual aid request to New York State for immediate help this weekend to shelter the asylum seekers.

 

“We are at our breaking point. Based off our projections, we anticipate being unable to continue sheltering arriving asylum seekers on our own and have submitted an emergency mutual aid request to the State of New York beginning this weekend,” he said in a statement. “This type of request, reserved only for dire emergencies, asks the state for support to shelter arriving asylum seekers as the city faces an immediate need for additional capacity. Our initial request is for shelter to accommodate 500 asylum seekers, but, as New York City continues to see numbers balloon, this estimate will increase as well.”

 

The city reportedly received more than 3,100 asylum seekers in the past week, with 835 arriving last Thursday alone.

 

That marks the largest arrival in a single day since the influx began.

Plans by President Joe Biden’s administration to approve a $20 billion sale of US-made F-16 fighter jets to Türkiye have hit a potential roadblock, as a key member of the Senate has vowed to block the deal because he considers Ankara to be an untrustworthy NATO ally.

 

“I strongly oppose the Biden administration’s proposed sale of new F-16 aircraft to Türkiye,” Senator Bob Menendez, a New Jersey Democrat, said on Friday in a statement. He accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of disregarding human rights, undermining international law and engaging in “alarming and destabilizing behavior in Turkey and against neighboring NATO allies.”

 

Menendez spoke out, reiterating his opposition to the arms deal, after the US State Department reportedly notified relevant congressional committees of its intention to go forward with the F-16 sale on Thursday. Türkiye requested the aircraft in October 2021, saying it wanted to buy 40 new F-16s and 80 modernization kits to upgrade its existing fleet.

 

As chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Menendez is an influential voice on arms sales and could try to push through a resolution condemning the deal with Türkiye. The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that the F-16 transfer is contingent on Ankara’s approval of bids by Sweden and Finland to join NATO.

 

Washington has made “endless” demands on Türkiye in connection with the deal, Ibrahim Kalin, a spokesman for Erdogan, told reporters on Saturday. “If they keep pushing Türkiye in other directions with F-16 (and) F-35 sanctions, and then Türkiye reacts, they blame Türkiye again, then that's not a fair game . . . . There's always something.”

 

It's not clear whether Menendez will drop his opposition to the F-16 transfer if Ankara agrees not to veto NATO’s latest expansion. The senator, who voiced his support for a sale of F-35 fighter jets to Greece, has broader concerns about Türkiye’s conduct.

 

“Until Erdogan ceases his threats, improves his human rights record at home – including by releasing journalists and political opposition – and begins to act like a trusted ally should, I will not approve this sale,” Menendez said.

 

Washington disqualified Türkiye from eligibility to buy its latest fighter jet, the F-35, after Ankara acquired Russian-made S-400 air defense systems in 2019.

Soviet-born composer Inna Zhvanetskaya is reportedly in hiding from German authorities after they attempted to have the 85-year-old committed to a mental institution and inoculated against her will with a Covid-19 shot, German outlet Report24 said on Thursday.

 

Zhvanetskaya was born in Vinnytsia, in the Ukrainian SSR, in 1937 and as a child survived the nazi holocaust.

 

Politicians and legal experts, including the ‘Alternative for Germany’ (AfD) party’s Martin Sich, have decried the court order against the composer as a violation of Germany’s Basic Law.

 

While a court order had authorized the forcible removal of Zhvanetskaya from her home in Stuttgart on Wednesday in order to institutionalize her “for her own good,” she was reportedly rescued ahead of their visit by “friendly activists.” In a video recorded from her hiding place, the composer told Report24 that “music is my life, and if they take away music from me then they take my life.”

Zhvanetskaya’s lawyer has filed an appeal and on Thursday convinced the District Court of Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt to suspend the compulsory vaccination part of the order until it is resolved. However, he cautioned she could still be institutionalized at any time.

 

Issued last month, the order authorizes Zhvanetskaya’s guardian and medical support staff to force their way into her home, calling on police if needed, then lock her up in a psychiatric institution until December 2024 at the latest so that she can be administered two shots of the Covid-19 vaccine she has repeatedly insisted she does not want.

 

The non-consensual treatment is said to be justified by the composer’s alleged mental and physical illnesses, which the order claims include narcissism, egomania, logorrhea, dementia, obesity, heart disease, and an obsession with music. “She is completely caught up in her compositions and so busy with music that it is impossible to have a meaningful conversation with her,” the document states.

 

Zhvanetskaya’s acquaintances have countered that the video she made this week proves she is of sound mind and body. Doctor Calls For Withdrawal Of Pfizer, Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines Following New Research

 

An American doctor is joining the calls for the withdrawal of the messenger RNA COVID-19 vaccines, pointing to new research that highlights a connection between the shots and adverse events.

 

Dr. Joseph Fraiman, a doctor based in Louisiana who also conducts research on COVID-19 and other health issues, says it’s time to halt the administration of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines until new clinical trials prove the benefits from the vaccines outweigh the harms.

 

The new research, including a reanalysis of the trials for the vaccines, raise concerns about whether the benefits from the vaccines outweigh the harms, according to the doctor.

 

“I don’t see how anyone couldn’t be certain that the benefits are outweighing the harms on a population level, or even in the high-risk groups. I don’t see the evidence to support that claim,” Fraiman told The Epoch Times. “But I also can’t say that there’s evidence to support that it’s potentially more harmful, but there’s also uncertainty here. … Given that scenario, I believe that people should not be given the [vaccines] outside of a clinical trial, because we need to figure out … if their benefits outweigh harm or if harm outweighs benefits.”

 

“The only thing that can answer that question is going to be a randomized trial,” he added.

 

Pfizer and Moderna did not respond to requests for comment.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which cleared the shots and has never stopped promoting them, did not return an inquiry.

 

Fraiman led a study that reanalyzed the original Pfizer and Moderna trials. He and his colleagues concluded in a study published following peer review that the vaccinated were at higher risk of serious adverse events.

 

That’s one data point. Another is the identification of safety signals, or adverse events, that are potentially caused by the vaccines but require further study. The FDA revealed in December 2022 that the Pfizer vaccine was linked to blood clotting in elderly individuals. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which recommends the vaccines for virtually all Americans, found hundreds of other signals in its research, according to records obtained by The Epoch Times.

 

Several serious problems that can lead to death have been causally linked, or proven to be caused by the vaccines. They include myocarditis, or heart inflammation.

 

While U.S. health officials have repeatedly downplayed the severity of myocarditis and a related condition, pericarditis, German researchers who dug into the deaths of 25 people who died suddenly at home after vaccination ruled out every potential cause except for vaccination for five of the people. They reported their results in a study that was published after peer review in late 2022.

 

“Given alternative causes are unlikely to cause myocarditis within one week of vaccination,this is essentially conclusive evidence that we’re seeing sudden cardiac deaths from the vaccines,” Fraiman said.

 

Fraiman also noted thatexcess mortality, or deaths from all causes, have risen during the pandemic—with spikes correlating with the introduction of the vaccines. Vaccines may not have caused the additional deaths, he says, but some researchers, including British professors Norman Fenton and Martin Neil, have examined the data and found a signal thatthe vaccines were linked to at least some of the excess deaths. U.S. officials say some of the deaths may be from COVID-19.

The UN's conservation efforts and climate change response may fall victim to pro-Western bias if current CEO Inger Andersen is reappointed to lead its environmental agency, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

 

The statement came in response to allegations that Russia had sought to stifle Andersen’s candidacy in an attempt to undermine Western support for Kiev during its military conflict with Moscow.

 

The UN Environmental Programme (UNEP) is tasked with raising awareness and advocating for global solutions to combat climate change. Andersen, a Danish economist and conservation expert, currently serves as its executive director, but her term expires this year.

 

The Financial Times cited two UN sources last week as saying that Moscow was working to block Andersen’s reappointment. The report also cited unnamed diplomats as describing the move as “part of a broader effort by the country to exert influence on the world stage and undermine the objectives of Western nations that have condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.”

 

Without specifying the publication, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman called the report “politically charged.”

 

Zakharova stated that prolonging Andersen’s tenure would “strengthen the discriminatory practice of almost exclusively appointing the representatives of Western countries to this high position.”

 

Such practice unavoidably leads to the dominance of Western staffers at UNEP and to the ignoring of rich national conservation experiences and priorities of developing countries.

Zakharova argued that Andersen’s reappointment could lead to the “politicization” of international environmental efforts. “We believe that the time has come to strengthen the geographical balance at UNEP and let a member from the non-Western world lead the organization,” she said.

 

UNEP’s leader is elected by the UN General Assembly after being nominated by the organization’s secretary general.

Hungary can’t replace Russian oil and gas – official

The country is heavily reliant on Moscow for energy imports

 

Hungary will not be able to replace the oil and natural gas it gets from Russia in the short term, member of parliament and State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Tamas Menczer, told M1 TV channel on Friday.

 

Menczer said the two fundamental conditions for Hungarian energy security were continued crude imports from Russia and the smooth operation of the Turkish Stream pipeline through which the country receives most of its annual supply of natural gas.

 

“Russian gas accounts for 85% of Hungary's gas consumption and 65% of oil demand. This cannot be changed overnight,” he explained.

 

According to the official, Hungary is constantly looking for opportunities to diversify supplies, but all the options currently under consideration have drawbacks.

 

“Experts see three possibilities for diversification: we could increase the capacity of the LNG terminal in Croatia…second thing is to start production in the Romanian Neptun gas field…Thirdly, we could import gas from Azerbaijan,” Menczer stated, adding that all three “require much money, time and serious infrastructural developments, so Russian gas cannot be replaced at the moment.”

 

He noted that the rate of filling Hungarian gas storage is approximately twice as high as the average European rate due to long-term contracts with Russian gas exporter Gazprom.

 

Since the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine in late February, the EU has imposed sweeping sanctions on Moscow’s energy exports, including a price cap on seaborne oil deliveries, which took effect last month. Budapest demanded and received some exemptions from the embargo. Prime Minister Viktor Orban has repeatedly suggested that if Brussels does not change its sanctions policies, they will inevitably backfire on the bloc’s economy and energy security.

Sanford said he was on the House floor when Trump made the comment, but Sanford questioned whether the president mixed up his words or whether the botched phrase was an attempt to continue an old punchline.

 

“I can’t judge another man’s heart or what he has on his mind, but I have to wonder whether there is a method to the madness,” Sanford said.

Booted out of office in last year’s GOP primary, Sanford has since wandered off into thepolitical wilderness. Most recently, he completed a two-month stint teaching as apolitical fellow at the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics.

Delivering German-made Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine without Berlin’s go-ahead would be outright unlawful, a German government spokeswoman insisted on Friday. Poland has announced plans to supply Ukraine with about a dozen of the armored vehicles, while Finland is also mulling such an option.

 

“That would be illegal,” a deputy government spokeswoman, Christiane Hoffmann, said when asked if the military hardware could simply be handed over to Kiev without prior approval by Germany. “It needs the approval of the federal government,” she told journalists in Berlin, saying “those are the rules.”

 

However, Berlin does not believe any country would actually take such a step without its permission, Hoffmann said. “It is not something that worries us or what we fear,” she told the media, adding that she did not think it was “a realistic assumption.”

 

A spokeswoman for the economic ministry also told journalists that a special re-export permit would be required for any such move under the German Foreign Trade Act and the Weapons of War Control Act.

 

So far, neither Warsaw nor Helsinki have approached Berlin for such approval, according to the German government.

His words came just days after the nation’s prime minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, said Poland would only do so as a part of an effort by a “broader coalition of states.” He also stated that talks with Germany were “ongoing.”

 

Finland has also said it would not go it alone on tank deliveries. According to the head of the Finnish parliament’s defense committee, Antti Hakkanen, his nation would only send Leopards if such a decision were made at the European level. Even in that case, he said the Finnish contribution would be “small” as it must prioritize its own defense.

Russia’s Embassy to the UK said canisters seen being loaded onto drones by Ukrainian militants could contain phosgene, which is banned under the UN’s Chemical Weapons Convention.

 

Russia has condemned the Ukrainian military after a video surfaced which appears to show the Kiev regime’s forces loading drones with chemical weapons.

 

“A video published by [the] Ukrainian military apparently shows them preparing to use chemical weapons… against [the] Russian military,” the Russian Embassy to the UK wrote Friday.

 

In the video, which appeared on social media earlier this week, soldiers can be seen giving a tour of what appears to be a chemical weapons facility and showing off refrigerated canisters filled with unknown substances.

 

The widely-shared video opens with a shot of an ammunition case bearing the letters “OB.”

 

According to the embassy, “[the] letters “OB” stand for toxic munition.”

 

The embassy speculated that the cans could contain phosgene, which it noted is prohibited by the Chemical Weapons Convention of the United Nations.

“This also explains why the gas cylinders need to be stored in the fridge,” they wrote.
