Judicial Watch: Secret Service Official: ‘Maybe We Were Asked for A Favor?’ in Investigation of Hunter Biden’s Gun

 

Judicial Watch announced today that it received 487 pages of records from the United States Secret Service (USSS) related to the investigation of Hunter Biden’s gun, reportedly disposed of in a dumpster in Delaware in October 2018. The records show agency officials discussing media reports of its alleged involvement with one finding it “odd” that the Secret Service was involved in the investigation when Joe and Hunter Biden were not receiving Secret Service protection at the time. Another official responds: “Maybe we were asked for a favor?”

 

The records show the agency alerted the Biden White House and crafted a public statement insisting it had “no involvement in this alleged incident” and refusing to provide any additional clarification to media inquiries.

 

Judicial Watch is investigating whether and how the Secret Service intervened for Hunter Biden in an incident involving a gun allegedly owned by him. In September 2022, Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit for records or communications about the reported purchase, possession, and disposal of a firearm owned by Hunter Biden found in a Delaware dumpster in October 2018 (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security (No. 1:22-cv-02841)).

 

Judicial Watch reported in December 2022 that the Secret Service repeatedly changed its position about whether it is in possession of records related to the investigation of Hunter Biden’s gun.

 

On October 29, 2020, a person whose name is redacted emails a Secret Service official in the “PID” (Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division) with a link to a Blaze article published earlier that day, reporting that Hallie Biden had taken a handgun owned by Hunter Biden in October 2018 and thrown it into a supermarket trash bin. The official then forwards the article to another official in the PID.

 

An official whose name is redacted later comments in this chain: “Oh dear…”

 

After being forwarded the same Blaze article, an unidentified Protective Intelligence Research Specialist responds to his colleagues: “It’s kind of odd that we were involved in the missing gun investigation when neither Hunter or Joe were even receiving USSS [Secret Service] protection at the time? Hmmm.” Another official replies: “Maybe we were asked for a favor?”

 

Senior Secret Service officials, whose names were disclosed in the records, were also notified of The Blaze article on November 2, 2020, including James Henry, then-Special Agent in Charge of the Philadelphia Field Office; Michael D’Ambrosio, Assistant Director of the U.S. Secret Service in charge of oversight of all Secret Service domestic and foreign Secret Service offices; Steven Stanford, then-Deputy Assistant Director; Leonza Newsome III, then-Deputy Director; and Douglas Henderson, Deputy Assistant Director, Office of Investigations.

 

After The Blaze article was forwarded by James Henry to a colleague in the Wilmington, DE, office, whose name is redacted, the colleague responds to Henry: “Digging in now. There is more information but I don’t have it yet.”

 

In response to a February 24, 2021, email inquiry from Politico reporter Ben Schreckinger regarding the Secret Service’s involvement in the investigation of the Hunter Biden gun incident, the Communications Department asks for “more information or documentation.” Schreckinger responds: “Sure thing. Agents visited StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply and asked to take possession of the paperwork Hunter had filled out to purchase a gun there. The FBI also had some involvement in the investigation.”

 

The Communications Office then drafts and distributes internally a proposed response labeled “Draft/Predecisional/Draft.”

Like the majority of Americans, I am a reject.

 

Our politicians in Washington, D.C., elected to serve the people, instead populate the elitist swamp, selling out the American worker to China. Mainstream media consistently misrepresent our America First views as racist. We are also rejected by our compatriots, too oblivious to grasp that American First is the medicine for a nation sick with globalism. The justice system is unfairly punishing conservatives for their political beliefs rather than the violent criminals who have turned American streets into shooting galleries. The once-respected FBI has become a wing of the Democratic Party.

 

Open borders are President Joe Biden’s way of punishing the border states for their conservative politics and refusal to back his radical agenda. Inflation is skyrocketing, thanks in large part to our country’s loss of energy independence. This is bad news for ordinary Americans who cannot afford to buy electric cars.

 

Our taxes fund the ruin of future generations by far-left zealots promoting their definitions of gender and “correct” political views throughout our education system. Our elections have been corrupted by dishonesty and fraud.

 

Those who champion a strong country, hard work and traditional values have had enough. During Donald Trump’s presidency all Americans experienced freedom, strength, and prosperity for the first time in the 246-year history of the United States. Trump made lemonade out of the rotten lemons left behind by RINOS, crooked bureaucrats, and hostile Democrats. We savored every sip for four great years.

 

It was the first time American rejects – the non-elites, non-progressive, hardworking voters – felt genuinely accepted and appreciated. It was fantastic.

 

Trump is in a much stronger position now than he was in 2016. Until Trump rode down the golden elevator on June 16, 2015, to declare his candidacy for president, the American people were in the dark about how badly the government had been mistreating them. From that day through the present there has been relentless persecution of Trump, his family, close advisers and the voters who supported him. It’s time to avenge Trump – and America – for the denigration of the former president and the ruination of our country by far-left Democrats.

 

The slogans “Make America Great Again” and “Save America” were the themes of Trump’s 2016 and 2020 election campaigns. They were great, but 2024 has to be the “Avenge America Tour.” His campaign has made several pledges consistent with this theme, including replacing “rogue bureaucrats.”

 

Direct military action must be brought to bear on the Mexican cartels that have been flooding our nation with drugs. Illegal immigration must be stopped. If we want to get out from under China’s thumb, we must enact more protectionist trade policies and higher tariffs. Finally, the out-of-control Justice Department and other government agencies that have been politicized and weaponized against conservatives need a top-down overhaul.

 

Donald Trump has always been able to relate to the dismissed American. Despite his billions and enormous business success, Trump has been similarly dismissed as nothing more than a “showman” by elites.

 

The American people, like Donald Trump, have been rejected and dismissed. We’ve had to watch our country eroded from within by progressive ideology.

 

It’s time for voters to take back our strength and repair our nation.

AT&T Stock Loses $10 Billion in Value After Newsmax Drop

 

Since DirecTV dropped Newsmax on Jan. 24, AT&T's stock has fallen by almost 7%, wiping nearly $10 billion from its market value.

 

AT&T, the 70% owner of DirecTV, has come under fierce criticism after deplatforming Newsmax from its satellite TV systems — the second conservative channel it has removed in the past year, with OAN going last April.

 

Days after the Newsmax drop, former President Donald Trump called on Americans to cancel not only DirecTV but all AT&T services, including cellular and wireless services.

"I think it's deplorable," Trump said of the cancellation. "Newsmax did well in the ratings, so they actually took something off that was actually doing well in the ratings, as opposed to other shows that don't."

 

Since the removal of Newsmax, AT&T stock appears to be significantly underperforming the market while major stock indices have held steady during the past 12 trading days.

 

The S&P 500 actually rose 0.37% between Jan. 25 and Feb. 10, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined just 1.84% between those dates.

 

Newsmax has been alerting its supporters about AT&T's decision through its network, the fourth highest-rated cable news channel, reaching 25 million Americans, according to Nielsen.

 

Newsmax also reaches more than 40 million Americans through significant online platforms, apps, its social media network, as well as radio and print outlets.

 

The reaction against AT&T and DirecTV for the deplatforming has been swift and serious.

 

In January, Sen. Ted Cruz led a group of senators, including Tom Cotton, Mike Lee and Lindsey Graham, in writing a letter to AT&T demanding to know why Newsmax was removed when many lesser-rated liberal news channels remain on their systems.

 

"The silencing of conservative speech at the request of government officials is a direct assault on free speech and a threat to democracy," Cruz and the other senators wrote, noting that Newsmax and OAN had both been targeted by House Democrats for deplatforming.

 

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has joined with Trump in urging conservatives to cancel AT&T and DirecTV products.

 

Other leaders — including former Arkansas GOP Gov. Mike Huckabee; Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis.; Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla.; Dennis Prager — have encouraged Americans to switch their service providers.

 

This week, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel sent out an urgent email to committee members calling DirecTV's decision "anti-free-speech and anti-American."

 

"DirecTV has claimed that their decision was the result of a dispute over carrier fees, but this is yet another example of powerful corporations silencing conservative viewpoints," she wrote.

 

DirecTV claimed both Newsmax and OAN were removed as "cost-cutting" measures.

 

At the same time, the service continues to carry 22 left-leaning news channels, many with much lower ratings than Newsmax. All of those channels get hefty license fees, all higher than what Newsmax was seeking.

 

"DirecTV's position has always been that Newsmax — of all cable news channels — should never get any cable fee whatsoever, not one penny," Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy said.

 

Ruddy said AT&T's targeting of Newsmax for unequal treatment is "an act of political discrimination and blatant censorship."

Truth Social instantly skyrocketed to the very top of the charts and has remained at the top of the charts as the most downloaded app in the Google Play store for four whole days.

 

According to Forbes, Trump Media and Technology Group is now Trump’s “single most valuable asset.”

 

Trump owns 80 percent of the company, which is 73 million shares at (then-price) $25 a share, worth over $1.8 billion.

US defense official flags 'no objections' to Kiev attacking Crimea

 

Washington will not limit Ukrainian strikes on territory it claims as its own, Celeste Wallander said

 

The US would have no objections to Ukrainian forces striking targets inside Crimea with American-supplied weapons, a senior defense official said on Friday.

 

Dr Celeste Wallander, Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, was asked whether Washington supports Kiev in seizing Crimea, or at least in striking Russian targets there. The peninsula overwhelmingly voted to become part of Russia in 2014 following a Western-backed coup in Kiev.

 

Speaking at the Center for a New American Security, Wallander reiterated that the US “supportsUkraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty over its internationally recognized borders, and that includes Crimea.” With this in mind, the official argued that Kiev “has the right to defend every inch of its territory.”

 

As long as Ukraine “identifies operational value in targeting Russian forces on Ukrainian territory… we don’t have objections and do not seek to limit Ukrainian military operations to achieve their objectives.”

 

She also commented on remarks made by Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley, who warned in January that it would be “very difficult” for Ukraine “to militarily eject the Russian forces” from all the territories they currently control.

 

“I am not going to contradict general Milley, and I think he was giving a hard-headed assessment of the scale of the challenge,” she said.

 

In January, The New York Times reported, citing sources, that the administration of US President Joe Biden was warming to the prospect of helping Ukraine to target Crimea, “even if such a move increases the risk of escalation.”

 

On February 3, the US announced a new $2.17 billion security package for Ukraine which included ground-launched, small-diameter bombs (GLSDB) with a range of up to 150 kilometers (93 miles). While the Pentagon said that this long-range capability would enable Ukrainians “to take back their sovereign territory,” it declined to speculate about Kiev's future potential operations.

 

Last week, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who now serves as Deputy Chair of the nation’s Security Council, warned that any attack on Crimea would be interpreted as an attack on the country itself. Kiev, he said, must understand that such moves would be “met with inevitable retaliation using weapons of any kind.”

Belgian member of European Parliament charged with corruption

 

Feb. 11 (UPI) – Marc Tarabella, a Belgian member of the European Parliament, has been charged with money laundering, corruption and membership in a criminal organization, authorities said Saturday.

Tarabella was taken into custody after charges were leveled against him by a Belgian judge investigating alleged bribes of MEPs by Qatar, official sources confirmed to Politico and Bloomberg.

Police also searched a safe deposit box at Tarabella's bank and raided several offices, the outlets reported.

Earlier this month Tarabella was stripped of his immunity by a European Parliament vote, along with Italian MEP Andrea Cozzolino.

Cozzolino was placed under house arrest by Italian police in Naples on Friday and attended a court hearing Saturday, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.

Friday's arrests are the latest in a string of recent arrests in connection to a bribery scandal which saw parliamentarians accused of taking bribes connected to Qatar.

In December, six people were arrested in Brussels in connection to to the scandal. The European Parliament suspended Qatari representatives' access to the the body in December.

Former co-Vice President of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili, and former parliamentarian Pier Antonio Panzeri have been in jail since January on charges related to the bribery scandal. Panzeri struck a deal with authorities to provide information on the scandal.

Russia issues warning to US over special ops in Ukraine

 

The deployment of such troops would carry “indescribable risks,” Moscow's ambassador claims

 

Russia’s envoy to Washington has responded to recent reports that the US is seeking to resume its “top-secret programs” in Ukraine, warning that it would mean direct American involvement in the conflict.

 

Asked to comment on a report published in the Washington Post on Friday which said the Pentagon may restart its clandestine operations in Ukraine, Ambassador Anatoly Antonov said that while the claim has not been confirmed by officials, it would mark a major escalation.

 

“Discussions on the pages of one of the leading American media about the possible sending of Special Forces to Ukraine are very remarkable,” he said. “Such publications once again testify that here in Washington there is an obsession with an unrealizable dream to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia and readiness to face indescribable risks in this pursuit.”

 

If the US leadership decides to resume activities of the Special Operations Forces on the Ukrainian territory,it will represent undisguised participation of the regular army in the current conflict.

 

The Post report noted that military officials are now “urging Congress” to approve funding for top-secret programs, which were paused after the conflict with Russia kicked off nearly one year ago. Though no decision is expected until the fall, the Pentagon reportedly hopes to resume the projects sometime in 2024.

 

It remains unclear whether President Joe Biden will authorize deployments by American commandos, with the Post suggesting they may operate from a neighboring country. Prior to the conflict, US Special Operations troops ran two “irregular warfare surrogate programs”in Ukraine, one of which sent local Ukrainian operatives on “surreptitious reconnaissance missions in Ukraine’s east.”

 

Antonov went on to accuse Washington of acting as an “accomplice” to Ukraine, sayingUS involvement in the conflict is driving the world toward “unpredictable consequences.”

 

Washington has approved more than $30 billion in direct military assistance to Kiev since last year, supplying a long list of heavy weapons and other gear. The Kremlin has repeatedly urged against outside involvement in Ukraine, stating the weapons would only prolong the conflict, while vowing to destroy any Western military hardware shipped to the battlefield.

Wagner boss estimates how long Ukraine conflict will last

The hostilities between Moscow and Kiev might drag on for three more years, Yevgeny Prigozhin believes

 

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine will likely continue for up to three more years, depending on the goals Moscow actually pursues, Wagner private military group founder Yevgeny Prigozhin has said. The businessman made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Semyon Pegov of the independent WarGonzo project on Friday.

 

“If we need to cover the DPR and LPR, then we need to work for at least another year and a half or two,” Prigozhin stated, referring to the territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, which were recently incorporated into Russia.

 

Should Russia seek to “go toward the Dnepr,”a major river separating Ukraine into roughly two halves, the conflict will last even longer and drag on for up to three more years, Prigozhin suggested. At the same time, the founder of the private military group noted that in any conflict, the destruction of the enemy’s army must be the priority, rather than a desire to seize territories from the adversary.

 

Prigozhin also revealed, apparently jokingly, that should Moscow also seek to reach all across Europe toward the English Channel, he already has a perfect plan for such an endeavor. To achieve that goal, everyone in Russia must drop any leisure activity, put on their “working suits,” and work tirelessly. Some spoils of the campaign, however, including “France, Italy, Bulgaria and something else,”should be ceded afterwards to Ukrainians, since they are set to “suffer here with us”much more.

 

Founded in 2014, Wagner has mainly operated as a security contractor in Africa and the Middle East until now. The precise details of its deployments have not been made public, while Prigozhin denied his ties to the group and its very existence until last year.

 

The group has been an active participant in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, scoring several victories against the Ukrainian troops. The achievements have also earned the company wide international attention, with the US declaring Wagner a “transnational criminal organization” last month.

Secretive Russian Satellite Breaks Apart In Orbit, Creating Debris Cloud

A secretive Russian satellite launched nearly a decade ago has experienced a "breakup" in outer space, according to a tweet published by the US Space Force's 18th Space Defense Squadron.

 

The Space Force said the Kosmos 2499 spacecraft disintegrated on Jan. 4 and unleashed a hazardous cloud of debris orbiting the planet.

 

The military branch that conducts operations in outer space did not explain why Kosmos 2499 broke apart. However, one person on social media asked a good question.

Business Insider and Space.com cited RussianSpaceWeb.com's Anatoly Zak, who said Russia launched a rocket in late 2013, supposedly carrying three military communications satellites into orbit. But it wasn't until space trackers found a fourth and very mysterious spacecraft (Kosmos 2499) that was also released into orbit.

 

Zak said the head of Roscosmos in 2014 assured world leaders that Kosmos 2499 wasn't a "killer satellite." Roscosmos never revealed the satellite's mission.

 

As for space debris, Brian Weeden, an expert in space junk at the Secure World Foundation, told Ars Technica this is likely not a catastrophic event.

Have you heard of the Shiny Object Syndrome? It is the tendency for someone to chase something new, be it a new idea, trend, or goal, rather than to stay focused on what they’re doing.

 

The behavior is similar to a child who is attracted to anything that’s shiny and new. I have an 18-month-old nephew and he is constantly attracted to anything that moves or makes a sound. As he approaches something that he has never seen before, he’s intrigued at first but loses interest as the item loses its novelty to him. He’s then attracted to the next new shiny thing, only to lose interest after a while and seek the next shiny object!

 

At the heart of it, the issue with the shiny object syndrome is distraction. Being constantly drawn to new ideas and tools, and abandoning important tasks in the process.

You have a lot going on. Sounds like edema in your legs. Bleeding urine can go with bladder infection. Did you ever have bleeding hemorrhoids before? If the blood on the tissue when you wipe is bright red it means lower down if the blood is black or you have tarry stools that is from higher up like the stomach. Do you have a fever? That is a danger signal in the context of a bowel issue, but if you are pooping your bowel may not be obstructed.

planefags, any idea if civilian flights have been flying at lower altitudes in the last few years. I don't remember hearing jets overhead when I first moved to my current location, but it is almost every hour the past few years. Wondered if the mil has taken over higher altitudes.
