For all this theoretical progress, the situation on the street hasn't really changed for most of us.

 

Pull the plug. If those in charge lack the skills or manpower to do so, there's TONS of IT folks who would gladly rip that code to hell and back to make sure that taxes are no longer withheld from anyone's checks.

Nation’s Top Law Firms Send Letter to Elite Universities: They Won’t Recruit from Colleges That Tolerate Antisemitism

 

Concerned by the rampant antisemitism displayed on college campuses across the nation expressing support for the terrorist attacks on civilians in Israel, some of the nation’s most powerful law firms are sending a warning to elite universities and their students.

A letter, signed by more than two dozen law firms, is warning universities to crack down on antisemitism on campus or the schools, and their students, or they will face consequences.

 

Spearheaded by Joe Shenker, senior chair of Sullivan & Cromwell, CNN reports the letter was sent on Monday to law school deans at Yale, Harvard, Columbia, the University of Virginia, Georgetown, the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, the University of Michigan, New York University and Stanford.

 

The letter, obtained by CNN, reads:

 

Dear Deans,

 

Everyone at our law firms is entitled to be treated with respect and be free of any conduct that targets their identity and is offensive, hostile, intimidating or inconsistent with their personal dignity and rights. We prohibit any form of harassment, whether verbal, visual or physical.

 

Over the last several weeks, we have been alarmed at reports of anti-Semitic harassment, vandalism and assaults on college campuses, including rallies calling for the death of Jews and the elimination of the State of Israel. Such anti-Semitic activities would not be tolerated at any of our firms. We also would not tolerate outside groups engaging in acts of harassment and threats of violence, as has also been occurring on many of your campuses.

 

As educators at institutions of higher learning, it is imperative that you provide your students with the tools and guidance to engage in the free exchange of ideas, even on emotionally charged issues, in a manner that affirms the values we all hold dear and rejects unreservedly that which is antithetical to those values. Foreign investment in China turns negative for first time

Outflows of foreign direct investment in China have exceeded inflows for the first time as tensions with the U.S. over semiconductor technology and concerns about increased anti-spying activity heighten risks.

The shift was reflected in balance-of-payments data for the July-September quarter released Friday by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.

FDI came to minus $11.8 billion, with more withdrawals and downsizing than new investments for factory construction and other purposes. This marked the first negative figure in data going back to 1998. Foreign investment had remained sluggish after falling sharply in the April-June quarter of 2022, when the Chinese economy was in turmoil from the zero-COVID lockdown in Shanghai.

In a September survey of member companies by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China, nearly half of respondents said they would not invest in China at all in 2023 or invest less than in 2022. Escalating tensions with the U.S. are one reason for the decline in foreign investment. In a survey taken last fall by the American Chamber of Commerce in the People's Republic of China, 66% of member respondents cited rising bilateral tensions as a business challenge in China.

In August, the U.S. announced tighter restrictions on chip and artificial intelligence investment in China. Washington is coordinating with Beijing ahead of a summit meeting between Presidents Joe Biden and Xi Jinping in November, but the U.S. remains committed to technology restrictions in the name of economic security.

 

Looking at foreign investment in the semiconductor field by destination, China's share has already shrunk from 48% in 2018 to 1% in 2022, according to U.S. research firm Rhodium Group. In contrast, the U.S. share rose from zero to 37%. The combined share of India, Singapore and Malaysia grew from 10% to 38%. The revised Chinese counterespionage law, which took effect in July and broadens the scope of what is deemed spying, has also made companies nervous. "China's laws and regulations lack transparency, a factor that increases concerns about business continuity in the country," said Yusuke Miura, a senior researcher at the NLI Research Institute. As Chinese companies improve their competitiveness, some foreign companies are choosing to leave. Mitsubishi Motors, which was late to shift to electric vehicles, announced in October that it would withdraw from production in China.

In response to the flight of foreign capital, China is launching more policies to open up to the outside world, including easing regulations on foreign investment in the manufacturing sector.

"Foreign companies are becoming increasingly concerned about authorities' emphasis on security, and it is unlikely that their cautious stance toward China will change quickly," Miura said.

China is rushing to build its own chip supply chain in anticipation of prolonged tensions with the U.S., but procurement of necessary equipment and parts from overseas has been slow. If the pace of technological innovation and productivity growth slows, it could put downward pressure on China's economic growth.

House Quietly Passed Resolution That Suggests Using Force Against Iran

 

The resolution calls for the US to use 'all means necessary' to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons

 

The House on Wednesday passed a resolution that suggested the US would use force against Iran in the future in the name of preventing the country from acquiring nuclear weapons.

 

The resolution says a nuclear-armed Iran is “unacceptable” and declares that it’s the policy of the US to “use all means necessary to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.”

 

A US intelligence report recently affirmed that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons, but reality doesn’t stop Iran hawks in the US and Israel from constantly hyping up the threat of a non-existent Iranian nuclear weapons program. The same officials do not officially recognize that Israel possesses a nuclear arsenal.

 

The resolution passed in a vote of 354-53, with 50 Democrats and three Republicans voting against the measure. Explaining his opposition, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) because it seemed like a call for war.

 

“Yesterday Congress passed a resolution (354 to 53) that claims Iran possesses all it needs for a nuclear weapon,” Massie wrote on X. “The same resolution says the US should ‘use all means necessary to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.’ Seems like a call for war on Iran. I voted No.”

 

The resolution pointed to Iran’s uranium enrichment at 60% and its stockpiles of enriched uranium as evidence it could make a bomb. But in order to make a nuclear weapon, uranium needs to be enriched at 90%, and there’s no sign Tehran is considering taking that step.

Retiring Representative Ken Buck Testifies in Colorado’s Trial to Remove President Trump from Ballot

 

On the fourth day of a lawsuit aimed at barring former President Donald Trump from the 2024 ballot in Colorado, Congressman Ken Buck was called to testify by Trump’s defense team.

 

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that a coalition of six Republicans and unaffiliated Colorado voters, including former state and federal officials, filed a lawsuit seeking to disqualify former President Donald Trump from appearing on the state’s 2024 presidential ballot.

 

The plaintiffs are represented by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a nonprofit and “nonpartisan” watchdog organization, alongside law firms Tierney Lawrence Stiles LLC, KBN Law, LLC, and Olson Grimsley Kawanabe Hinchcliff & Murray LLC.

 

The plaintiffs are Norma Anderson, Michelle Priola, Claudine Cmarada, Krista Kafer, Kathi Wright, and Christopher Castilian.

 

The case argues that Trump violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which disqualifies any individual from holding federal office if they have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the United States.

 

Congressman Ken Buck was tasked with discrediting the January 6 committee’s report which alleges Trump’s involvement in an insurrection. Buck provided testimony remotely from his office in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.

 

Buck asserted that the committee’s approach was biased against Trump and motivated by political vendetta. Buck highlighted its failure to cross-examine certain witnesses, challenge specific pieces of evidence, and subpoena particular documents that could have negated allegations against Trump.

 

“It’s like going into a courtroom as a prosecutor, not having a defense counsel or a defendant. I think, in order to be able to judge someone’s culpability, you’ve got to be able to hear both sides of the story, and in this case, there was not another side,” Buck said.

 

Buck’s primary testimony focused solely on his experiences from Jan. 6 and his perspectives on the report from the January 6 committee, according to 9 News.

 

“I voted to certify the election. I thought what happened on January 6 was obviously bad. It was a riot in the Capitol building. It was meant to disturb a proceeding, and I felt that the parts of the report that I saw described those things. It went beyond that in other areas and that’s where I think the cross-examination, in terms of the president’s culpability, would have been important,”

 

“A police officer came to the microphone and said that tear gas had been dispersed. And we were advised that there were gas masks under our seats, and we should deploy those gas masks. There was clear indication that there was a danger at that point.”

 

“I came back to my office rather than the secure committee room, and I saw on TV what was going on and I thought, ‘Oh my goodness, there are a lot of people out there.”

 

Buck disclosed that he had expressed his desire to join the committee to then-Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. However, McCarthy, in his capacity, declined Buck’s request.

No Ukrainian citizen should be exempt from serving their country and helping it in the conflict with Russia, Aleksey Danilov, Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, has insisted.

 

In an interview with media outlet Liga on Thursday, Danilov described the idea that every Ukrainian “has to fight a war or perform a service” as a “fundamental truth.” “One should not be surprised. We live in a rather complicated world where we have to defend our country with a crazy neighbor nearby,” he added.

 

He also addressed a recent article in the Telegraph by former UK defense minister Ben Wallace, who pointed out that “the average age of the [Ukrainian] soldiers at the front is over 40” and suggested that Kiev should reassess the scale of its mobilization by drafting more youth.

 

“As for the age bracket, the notion that the war is fought only in trenches .. is a thing of the past,” Danilov said, adding that many modern military systems can engage in combat while being stationed in the rear. He also described the idea that everyone in the Ukrainian military should be young as “somewhat distorted.”

 

Pressed on whether Kiev plans to demobilize any part of its army, particularly those soldiers who have been fighting for many months, the official wouldn’t say whether the country’s top officials had even discussed the issue. He added, however, that, if a decision is made, it should be in the form of a law.

 

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced a general mobilization shortly after the start of hostilities with Russia, barring most men aged between 18 and 60 from leaving the country. The campaign, however, has been marred by rampant corruption, with the Ukrainian leader sacking all regional senior conscription officials in August.

 

Around the same time, Zelensky also said that the Ukrainian military wanted him to step up mobilization efforts, although he has yet to sign a law lowering the conscription threshold during the mobilization from 27 to 25.

 

Last month, Sergey Rakhmanin, a member of Ukraine’s parliamentary military committee, predicted that Kiev would likely try to draft more people to replenish losses amid its counteroffensive.

 

Kiev launched a major push against Russian lines in early June but has since struggled to make any substantial progress. Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Wednesday that Ukraine “is losing” adding that its troops are suffering from plummeting morale amid high casualty rates. Last month, he claimed that Kiev had lost more than 90,000 service members since the start of the offensive.

Lawmakers Demand Answers From Costco Over Sale Of Surveillance Equipment Made Using 'Banned Chinese Components'

 

Two bipartisan lawmakers are demanding answers from Costco over its decision to continue selling Chinese-manufactured security products that have been linked to human rights abuses and cybersecurity risks.

 

In a letter dated Oct. 31, Rep. Christopher Smith (R-N.J.) and Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) questioned the retail giant's continued sale of Lorex security products, noting the company previously had ties to China-based company Dahua, whose products are restricted in the United States by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

 

Lorex is a former subsidiary of camera maker Zhejiang Dahua Technology, a China-based company that was added to the U.S. trade blacklist in 2019 owing to the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP's) treatment of Uyghurs and other predominantly Muslim ethnic minorities.

 

The U.S. Department of Commerce, in placing the company on the blacklist, said it and other entities "have been implicated in human rights violations and abuses in the implementation of China's campaign of repression, mass arbitrary detention, and high-technology surveillance against Uighurs, Kazakhs, and other members of Muslim minority groups" in China's Xinjiang region.

 

Additionally, the FCC last year banned the sale of new telecommunications and surveillance equipment made by Dahua, citing an "unacceptable risk" and national security concerns.

 

Dahua sold Lorex earlier this year to Taiwanese-based company Skywatch for around $72 million.

 

However, in their letter to Costco Chief Executive W. Craig Jelinek, Mr. Smith and Mr. Merkley said Dahua still supplies all the component parts for the Lorex cameras and other surveillance equipment.

 

The continued sale of Lorex security equipment throughout the retailer's stores allows Dahua to profit from the U.S. market despite its equipment being banned from U.S. government use, they argued.

Young children had a significantly elevated risk of seizures and convulsions after receiving mRNA Covid jabs, Food and Drug Administration scientists have found.

 

The FDA researchers quietly released the finding, which comes from an analysis of insurance claims databases, earlier this week. The FDA and Centers for Disease Control did not meet a deadline on questions if CDC knew of the finding before it advised kids to receive more mRNA Covid boosters last month.

 

The FDA did not quantify the risk or severity of the seizures in the paper. But the published data suggest the risk appears to be about 1 in 2,500 completed vaccinations within a week of a shot. Older kids also had increased risk, though it did not hit statistical significance.

 

The CDC’s push for more mRNA for young kids was already controversial, since most countries no longer make Covid boosters available to children (or most healthy adults). The seizure finding will only increase the scrutiny CDC faces.

At the center of the argument is Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle’s report that New York County Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron’s top clerk, Allison Greenfield, “appears to have violated judicial rules preventing officers of the court from making excessive political donations.”

President Donald Trump received a warm greeting from Dallas Police on Wednesday amid his trip to Texas this week, where he will be speaking at a campaign event in Houston.

 

In a video shared on social media by Trump Senior Advisor Dan Scavino, President Trump was greeted at the Dallas Love Field Airport by a group of Dallas Police officers who warmly shook hands with the 45th president and took pictures alongside him.

 

On Truth Social, Trump vowed support for America’s men and women in law enforcement, writing, “Departing Dallas, Texas now. Thank you to all of the incredible men and women of Law Enforcement—I will ALWAYS have your back!”

 

President Trump is in Texas this week as he is scheduled to deliver remarks on Thursday at Trendsetter Engineering, Inc., in Houston.

In the Lone Star State, Trump is far and away the dominant presidential candidate in the 2024 GOP primary election. According to a recent poll from YouGov (Oct. 6-18), Trump is leading among GOP primary voters in the state by a whopping 41 points over Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla.

 

In a general election poll by YouGov/Texas Politics Project (Oct. 5-17), Trump is also leading Biden by eight points in Texas – a lead that will likely increase as November 2024 creeps closer.

 

As reported by RSBN, President Trump is not only leading in the GOP primary and general election polls in Texas, but he is also out-fundraising all other Republican presidential candidates, including Gov. DeSantis and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

 

Nationwide, the latest data from Morning Consult’s 2024 Republican Primary Tracker has shown that Trump has captured 61 percent of support among GOP primary voters, eclipsing all other prospective Republican candidates by dozens of points.

Nikki Haley's Troubling Land Giveaway to CCP-Connected Company

Former U.S. ambassador and presidential candidate Nikki Haley has been warning about China, calling it part of the "New Axis of Evil" and tweeting that the U.S. should "end normal trade relations with Communist China until it stops killing Americans with fentanyl."

 

In another tweet, she said, "We are living through the most dangerous period in our lifetimes. It feels like Jimmy Carter’s 1970s. But the better comparison might be the 1930s. There’s war in Europe. There’s war in the Middle East. Communism is on the march – not in the Soviet Union, but in China."

 

That's all fine and good, but her campaign trail rhetoric doesn't match her record as governor of South Carolina. During her tenure, South Carolina sold and gave away hundreds of acres of real estate to Chinese investors.

 

The land giveaway involves a Chinese company with strong ties to the Chinese Communist Party called China Jushi. In a 2016 Facebook post, Haley announced, "Get excited! China Jushi is creating 400 new jobs and investing $300 million right here in Columbia! They are the leading supplier of fiberglass reinforcements and fabrics worldwide."

In an agreement first reported by the Washington Post, China Jushi agreed to create 800 jobs and invest $400 million in the state in exchange for 197 acres of South Carolina real estate valued at $4.9 million. According to the WaPo, "This is a partially state-owned enterprise where a top official is a ranking Chinese Communist Party member. Board chairman Chang Zhangli is a party committee member. China National Building Material Company Limited, a state-owned company, owns nearly 27 percent of China Jushi, according to the company website. Several top officials of CNBMC also are party officials."

 

But that's not all. Chinese companies purchased 1,500 acres of land, and Chinese capital investment doubled in the state while Haley was governor.

The WaPo reported on the more significant purchases and cozy deals with Chinese companies:

 

Wellman Plastics Recycling, 2015 purchase (about 400 acres), after receiving a $500,000 expansion grant from the S.C. Department of Commerce.

TechTronic Industries. 2015 expansion (300 acres), after receiving job development credits from the state coordinating council.

Smithfield Foods, 2013 purchase (208 acres)==

Keer Group, 2013 new facility (133 acres), after receiving job developmnt credits and a $4 million grant from the state coordinating council.

 

And there were multiple small land buys by Chinese companies as well:

 

58 acres in 2013 by JN Fibers for a new production facility after receiving an $800,000 state grant and other incentives;

34 acres (valued at $15 million) by Yanfeng Automotive in 2016 to establish a plant;

31 acres by the plastics manufacturer Uniscite in 2015 to establish a manufacturing plant.

In addition, the WaPo found that "Eleven other deals involved land purchases of under 30 acres each, with some also involving state grants and incentives."

 

Many of these were negotiated at the county level or by individuals, yet Haley's office celebrated the deals as big wins for the state.

According to the S.C. Department of Commerce, the state "has recorded capital investment from Chinese companies totaling almost $669 million." And in 2007, South Carolina signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese government "to establish and designate South Carolina as a preferred United States location for Chinese businesses," which was signed "during a visit to South Carolina by an official with the Ministry of Commerce, People’s Republic of China."

 

Granted, 1,500-odd acres of real estate in South Carolina isn't a huge amount of land, but it's troubling that Haley, a China hawk who has been warning about the dangers of the CCP, played footsie with the Chinese while governor of the state. Moreover, Haley was less than honest when asked about it at a town hall in Iowa last month.

 

An audience member asked, “I saw something on the internet that said you gave China thousands of acres of land in South Carolina. Why would you do that?”

 

“Don’t believe what you read on the internet," Haley replied. "We didn’t sell any land to the Chinese. But, yes, I recruited a fiberglass company.”

 

Well, the facts don't lie, nor do South Carolina's contracts with Chinese companies and documents on the state's website.

 

She went on to defend the contracts at the town hall: "There is not a governor in this country or a state in this country that hasn’t worked to get Chinese business in their state somewhere. There’s not a household in this country that doesn’t have Chinese products in it. But there is a difference between focusing on something that’s going to hurt our national security and focusing on whether I brought a fiberglass company to South Carolina."

 

PJ Media reached out to Haley's campaign for a comment, but they did not respond in time for publishing.

 

If Haley does indeed believe that China poses an existential threat to the United States and that we should "end normal trade relations" with the Communist regime, she should own up to bringing a company with ties to the CCP to her state. Moreover, she should apologize to the American people for bringing their operatives to our shores.

People often wonder why he took the woman's side in what should've been a slam dunk case against a "worthless whore". Besides, all that "sexual immorality" is what's wrong with the world, right?

What did he write in the dirt? What he wrote conveyed a message to the woman's accusers. The message was never really explained, but the story gives us an allusion. It was something akin to "hypocrites". How do we know this?

 

Jesus didn't care about sin she committed because he understood human nature, and he also understood the circumstance behind why they brought her there. They brought her to Jesus because they had carnal knowledge of the "sin" she committed. They entrapped her in order to entrap Jesus. Jesus knew the games they played, and he knew that their accusations were truthful - she really did commit adultery, but it was with her accusers who forced her to do so. This is how they abuse the law, and this is how they still abuse the law to this day.

 

The purpose of the law was always intended to help people diagnose issues we have as humans. Everyone has at least one flaw that would keep them from heavenly glory. Everyone falls short of the glory of God because no man or woman could fulfill the requirements of the law in order to "enter heaven".

 

The entire ministry of Christ was through Grace from God. Can you forgive yourself? Good. Now, can you forgive your brother/sister? Good. Now, go forth and "sin no more" (with a wink and a smile, of course). You will continue to stumble. Can you forgive yourself? You will continue to react to your brother and sister. Can you forgive them? Slow to anger, quick to love.

 

It's by grace we "enter into the kingdom" (state of mind), and the kingdom is within (this is a literal Truth of an allegorical concept). The Kingdom was always within, just as the Word was always with God in the beginning; meaning the answer to the world's problems has always been love, and those that came to their fellow man with the law presented it as the path to God, and rejected the Truth of love. As people believed the law instead of grace, they subjected themselves to the authority of others.

 

And as soon as you forgive and love yourself, you can forgive and love others, too. Hence the 2 commandments upon which all the others hang:

 

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

 

Jesus replied:“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

 

People have to learn to forgive themselves and others; that's the lesson of the plank and spec. What the Pharisees did was try to entrap Jesus with the adulteress. The law was explicit without concern for nuance to circumstance, and that means the law isn't flawless. How can we submit ourselves to an imperfect authority? Insistence on abiding by the law is precisely where the flaw in man's understanding of the kingdom is, and anyone using the law to satisfy visions of perfection in others are spiritually bankrupt.

 

The Pharisees took this belief system so far they used it to subjugate others and kill the very person sent to save them.

 

What lessons are we learning about the law with the current situations unfolding in front of everyone?
