Jill Biden is sponsoring a White House “Youth Art” Easter egg decorating contest for children of National Guard servicemembers that bans religious themed eggs, even though Easter is a religious holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ–and the contest announcement states the eggs will be displayed during the Christian and Jewish observances of Easter and Passover. Lobbyist Larry Marchant, who on Wednesday became the second man to claim he had an affair with South Carolina Republican gubernatorial hopeful Nikki Haley, is dishing details on his alleged one-night stand with the candidate.

"I had an inappropriate physical relationship with Nikki Haley," Marchant explains in an interview with WCBD in Charleston. "We had gone to dinner, I had some drinks, and things happened and that was it. It was one time and one time only… I spent the night with Ms. Haley and we had sexual relations, we had sex."

Marchant added: "I know in my heart what happened, and she's knows in her heart what happened.

The big twist is that Marchant has been serving as a political consultant to South Carolina Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, a rival of Haley's in the governor's race.

Meanwhile, Haley vehemently denies that she had a sexual relations with Marchant, whose announcement came the same day as the primary frontrunner released a campaign ad subtly attempting to do damage control amid earlier allegations she had an extramarital affair with conservative blogger Will Folks. Making a cameo in the 30-second spot is Haley's husband Michael.

Nigel Farage could be the next UK ambassador to the US if Donald Trump wins the presidency, ex-foreign secretary David Owen has said.

Lord Owen said appointing the ex-Brexit Party leader to the job to help keep Mr Trump onside was “not a totally outrageous suggestion”.

The former cabinet minister said Mr Farage could initially be sent out to Washington to help persuade the Republican to keep the US inside Nato if he wins a second term.

Lord Owen – Labour foreign secretary between 1977 and 1979 – said if may even be necessary to hand the hard-right politician one of the country’s top diplomatic roles.

“We’d better send old Farage out there to persuade Trump [about Nato],” he told the News Agents podcast. “I would certainly.”

He added: “I would hope it could be done without making him ambassador, as some people have suggested – but it’s not a totally outrageous suggestion.”

Mr Farage previously claimed that he “could be very useful” when the idea of him becoming ambassador to the US came up upon Sir Kim Darroch’s resignation in 2019.

When preparing to enter the White House, Mr Trump claimed that his friend would do a “great job” in the role. The then-Brexit Party chief raised eyebrows by meeting the president-elect at Trump Tower during the interim period in November 2016.

Lord Owen – who quit Labour in the early 1980s to form a rival party that eventually became the Liberal Democrats –said his American wife was convinced Mr Trump was going to win November’s presidential election.

He also called on Joe Biden to make way for another Democrat to run against the Republican favourite. “He’s got a few more months, but he should say to the people, ‘I’m getting a bit old, we need a vigorous thing.

“And the Democrat Party ought to have an open nomination conference and elect somebody who is more vigorous and will beat Trump.”

It comes as Boris Johnson said a second Trump presidency could be a “big win for the world”. In his latest Mail column, the former PM mocked the “hysteria” in Britain about the prospect of Mr Trump’s return to the White House.

He mocked Church of England, the BBC and “much of the UK establishment” for a “caterwauling orgy of nose-holding abhorrence” – claiming Trump’s success in the polls had “driven some people to the brink of virtue-signalling derangement”.

Mr Johnson said his old ally was not a “would-be dictator”, despite his role in inciting a riot which saw the unprecedented attack on the US Capitol building.

And he claimed that Mr Trump’s “sheer unpredictability” made him an asset in acting as a “major deterrent to the enemies of the west” – claiming the republican would not turn his back on Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Lord Owen criticised Rishi Sunak’s Rwanda deportation plan – but predicted that the UK would leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the Strasbourg court which oversees the agreement.

Asked whether he believes that the UK might have to withdraw from the ECHR, Lord Owen said: “Yes, because they are now telling us how to conduct our immigration policy.”

He added: “And they’re using powers that have never been used before just recently on our immigration policy… It’s like all these human rights and lawyer things. You give lawyers a yard, they’ll take a mile.”

Lord Owen said David Cameron took the job as foreign secretary because he was “bored”. And he said he had “reservations” about Labour leader Keir Starmer because “I don’t like his record”.

He cited Sir Keir’s decision to work under Jeremy Corbyn, and talking a leading role in “trying to stop the [Brexit] referendum decision being passed by the House of Commons”.

The F-35 experienced what Marine Corps officials referred to as a "mishap" over the skies of the state's Lowcountry region on Sept. 17, 2023, according to military authorities.

Iraqi security sources are warning of an ISIS revival in the country, which coincides all too neatly with the spike in Iraqi resistance operations against US bases in Iraq and Syria, and with widening regional instability caused by Israel's military assault on Gaza.

More than six years after declaring victory over the terrorist organization, Iraqi intelligence reports now indicate that thousands of ISIS fighters are emerging unscathed, under the protection of US forces in two regions of western Iraq.

The missing piece of the puzzle

According to intelligence reports reviewed by The Cradle, at its height, ISIS consisted of more than 35,000 fighters in Iraq – 25,000 of these were killed, while more than 10,000 simply “disappeared.”

As an officer of one Iraqi intelligence agency recounts to The Cradle:

"Hundreds of ISIS fighters fled to Turkey and Syria at the end of 2017. After the appointment of Abdullah Qardash as the leader of ISIS in 2019, following the death of Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the new Caliph began to restructure the organization, and ordered his followers to return to Iraq. The organization exploited the long border with Syria, the security disturbances, and the diversity of forces on both sides of the border to infiltrate the Iraqi territory again."

Imprisoned ISIS officials admit that infiltrating that border is not an easy task, because of the strict control imposed by the Iraqi Border Guards and the use of modern technologies, such as thermal cameras.

It therefore became necessary for the terror group to identify intermediaries capable of breaking through or bypassing these fortifications to transport its fighters across borders.

An Iraqi security source, insisting on anonymity, tells The Cradle that the US plays a vital role in enabling these border violations:

"[There are] several incidents that confirm the American assistance in securing the crossing route for ISIS members - mainly, by shelling Iraqi units on the border, especially the Popular Mobilization Units (PMUs), to create gaps that allow ISIS fighters to cross the border."

The Iraqi security source adds that there are confirmed reports of US Chinook helicopters transporting fighters from eastern Syria to the Anbar desert in western Iraq and Jebel Hamreen, in the country's east.

Munir Adib, a researcher specializing in Islamist movements, extremist organizations, and international terrorism, confirms the possibility of the return of ISIS after the organization's “dozens of attacks in Syria and Iraq in the past few weeks,” which led to the death of tens of civilians and soldiers.

According to Adib, “the international community's preoccupation with the Gaza and Russia-Ukraine wars gave ISIS an opportunity to reorganize its ranks, while continuing to receive internal and external logistical support.”

This is the first time I’ve seen a local news affiliate take a defensive posture in favor of a J6 defendant who’s being abused by the DOJ. And from Chicago of all places!

ABC7 is reporting the mostly ignored fact that the government is punishing J6ers who don’t plead guilty by adding additional felony charges if they go to trial. This article (link in comments) refers to them as “revenge felonies”.

In my case, while discussing a plea deal, DOJ told my lawyer, “So far we have not yet charged him with felony obstruction of an official proceeding. That’s a felony that carries a potential 20 year sentence. We could, but so far we’ve chosen not to.”

(Congress had cleared 20 minutes before I arrived on Capitol grounds, and I never entered the building)
