As reported earlier, the Kamala Harris campaign hired Brian Fallon as their new communications director. Fallon was previously a spokesman for the 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign.

 

After Hillary unexpectedly lost the 2016 election, Fallon went to work for a far left activist group called Demand Justice which seeks to pack the United States Supreme Court.

 

He has also tweeted support for defunding the police.

 

But that’s not all. Brian Fallon, along with Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton also used alias email addresses to during their tenure with the Obama administration. Of course, they were never held to account for their actions. This was an effective way the Obama administration slithered around without the public knowing what they were up to behind the scenes.

 

Brian Fallon posted veiled threats against Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearings and accused him of being an attempted rapist without any proof at all.

 

Brian Fallon is also on record saying he was “damn glad” Hillary Clinton colluded with Russians to spread disinformation on Donald Trump.

 

In 2017 Fallon admitted Hillary Clinton “may have known” about her campaign paying for the Trump-Russia dossier.

 

Brian Fallon was also involved in the Clinton Uranium One scandal when the Clintons sold 20% of America’s uranium to Russia.

Since they're so offended by the world merely reposting what they themselves vomited, that they're now scrambling to delete and demand everyone else self-censor the information, is this not a proof that they're the primary sources of what they claim to be observing and claiming is a problem they are authorities in fixing?

It's like watching a machine output "this sentence is false", then iterate over its own output, notice its own inconsistencies, get offended, then blame its surroundings and other machines for why it outputted its own inconsistencies.

 

All the world did was take the information alienated by choice by the source, recirculated it and disseminated it, and now the source is having a panic stricken meltdown, projecting and accusing the world of what the source themselves just did.

"Debris from a broken offshore wind turbine has for days been washing up on the Nantucket shore, prompting beach closures and frustrating locals at the peak of the summer season.

 

The massive turbine blade – as long as a football field – was part of the Vineyard Wind farm off the coast of Massachusetts and its islands, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. The blade was “broken” and “folded over” on Saturday, Vineyard Wind CEO Klaus Skoust Møller told Nantucket residents and officials at a public meeting Wednesday night.

 

Since then, foam debris and fiberglass – including some large and dangerously sharp pieces – have washed onto beaches. A “significant part” of the remaining damaged blade detached from the turbine early Thursday morning, Vineyard Wind said in a news release. The US Coast Guard confirmed to CNN it has located a 300-foot piece of the blade.

 

There are few answers to what caused the turbine to fail, and the incident has prompted questions and anger from city officials and Nantucket residents.

 

Speaking to the public on Wednesday, top company officials from Vineyard Wind and wind blade manufacturer GE Vernova promised they were investigating."

They did a pretty tight circling descent over Frankfort, Indiana. Then accelerated to around 460 knots and passed over Interstate 70 west of Indianapolis at around 1000 feet. Folks on the highway must have gotten an eye full and an ear full. Climbed back out above 6,000 feet and landed at Wright-Patterson a little over a half hour ago.

One of four people identified thus far as having died in a private plane crash on April 9 in Scottsdale, Ariz., was Mariah Sunshine Coogan, a resident of West Hollywood.

 

HollywoodLife, the celebrity gossip site, reports that Coogan, 23, was flying to Las Vegas with several young friends, who also were killed. Three of them, including Coogan, are said to be “Instagram celebrities” because of their large following on that website. Coogan is known on Instagram as mariahsunshiinee, and has 31,300 followers.

 

Coogan’s family lives in Santa Rosa and her parents told San Diego’s ABC 10 that she had moved to San Diego to pursue a modeling career and recently had moved to West Hollywood. She was known for her passion for horses as well as her modeling

 

Just before the crash, Coogan took a video of herself and fellow passengers, including Anand “Happy” Patel, 26, who also had a large Instagram following. The Federal Transportation Administration is looking into the cause of the crash, and it appears that James Pedroza, the 28-year-old pilot, did not have a pilot’s license.

 

Coogan’s family has set up a Go Fund Me account to raise money to support animal causes.

 

“She was a loving daughter and big sister to four younger siblings,” says a statement on the account. “Her love for animals was unparalleled: growing up in 4-H, being an avid & highly trained equestrian, and owner of multiple fur babies. For that reason, we ask for you to donate in Mariah Sunshine’s memory to a fund which we will in turn give to an organization that will help carry on her love for animals.”

What I want to know is how many people tuned in to the Paris opening ceremony and then tuned right back out of that shit show?

 

It's oddly difficult to get the viewership numbers from last night's opening ceremonies in Paris. Search results only show articles like "what the press thought of the ceremonies" and how "unique" they were and how Celine "wowed" everyone. And, of course, how many people attended in person. But no one seems to want to say how many people in the U.S. actually bothered to watch.

 

The attached pic has the data blurred out by the website, but I wasn't about to pay for historically available info. So, all of the numbers and text were added by me, after doing a little digging. If I got something wrong, or if someone has better info, post it.

 

Question number 1: Where does Paris fall on this chart?

 

Question number 2: If someone does publish the Paris viewership numbers, what are the odds that they will actually tell the truth?

The opening cermony of the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo drew only 16.7 million U.S. TV viewers. Compared to the previous years, this marks a considerable decline. The 2012 opening ceremony had the highest U.S. viewership in the period from 1988 to 2021, with a total of about 40.7 million people.

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro drew an average audience of 25.6 million viewers in the United States, a decrease of over 14 million viewers from the previous Games held in London in 2012. This meant that the U.S. TV ratings for the opening ceremony in Rio stood at 16.5, 4.5 lower than for the opening ceremony at London 2012. The highest opening ceremony ratings were seen during the two Olympic Games held in the United States, as the opening ceremony at the 1984 games in Los Angeles had a rating of 23.9 and the 1996 games in Atlanta earned a rating of 23.6.

The Rio Games also saw a decrease in the average number of primetime TV viewers in the United States, with an average of 27.5 million viewers tuning into the action in 2016, in comparison to 30.3 million during London 2012.

Despite the reduced viewing figures for the opening ceremony in Rio, the daily viewership numbers did increase throughout the Games, with a peak audience of over 33 million turning on NBC on August 9 to see the U.S. team win two gold medals in the pool and the U.S. women’s gymnastics team take gold in the Women’s Team Final. In contrast, only 16.85 million watched the Rio closing ceremony on NBC on August 21.

The surge of Hong Kong shipments to Russia following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 underscores the city’s extensive role in helping US adversaries avoid international sanctions, a new analysis published by the Committee for Freedom in Hong Kong Foundation shows.

 

The 62-page report, Beneath the Harbor: Hong Kong’s Leading Role in Sanctions Evasion, outlines how Hong Kong companies have helped export goods that are under the US and European Union’s list of items — known as Common High Priority Items — highlighted as essential technology used by Russia’s war machine. The report also details how Hong Kong companies are helping Russia, Iran and North Korea with their shipping needs.

 

Through detailed analysis and investigation using publicly available data collected by C4ADS, a Washington, DC-based global security nonprofit, as well as corporate records and other open-source data, the report highlights the indispensable role Hong Kong plays in undermining sanctions.

 

“Simply put, Hong Kong has gone rogue,” the report states of the former British colony.

 

Hong Kong’s emergence as the top global node for illicit finance and trade reflects deliberate government policy, the study claims.

 

“Hong Kong has also become essential to Russia’s efforts to evade sanctions by offering a politically safe and corporate friendly location to set up subsidiaries for the ownership of shipping vessels,” the report states, citing 31 vessels owned or managed by Hong Kong subsidiaries of Russian companies. Three of the seven parent companies are subject to Western sanctions: Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO), Sovcomflot, and Novatek. Additionally, the records collected by C4ADS show that one non- sanctioned company owns a vessel, the Zafar, that was likely involved in a series of illicit transactions for Russia, including transporting stolen Ukrainian grain to Iran.

 

The report also details how Hong Kong companies have been important to help with shipments involving sanctioned Iranian and North Korean entities with one company in particular highlighted, HK Shipping Cooperation, for its important role in brokering ship-to-ship transfers of Iranian oil.

 

Among a host of recommendations, the report urges the US, EU, and their allies to focus more resources on targeting individuals as well as the associated entities facilitating sanctions evasion—notably logistics firms, insurers, and corporate registry services providers.

 

“By merely sanctioning companies directly engaged in trading illicit goods, Western authorities are attacking the stem without reaching the root,” the report argues. “Individuals can set up new companies with ease and avoid sanctions, and they often do so by partnering with the same service providers, which along with financial firms make up the core infrastructure of Hong Kong’s sanctions evasion environment.”

 

The report was helmed by Samuel Bickett, an American lawyer, policy advocate and researcher who specialises in Hong Kong rule of law, human rights, economic sanctions and corporate accountability.

Windfall: FBI Pays $2M To Strzok, Ex-Lover For Released Anti-Trump Texts

 

The FBI will pay disgraced former FBI official Peter Strzok and his former lover Lisa Page millions in a settlement over the release of their anti-Trump text messages, CNN reported on Friday.

 

Strzok will receive $1.2 million, while Page will get $800,000 after the bureau released email exchanges that exposed their anti-Trump bias during the 2016 presidential campaign. Such bias ultimately ignited the now-defunct Russian collusion hoax probe.

 

The infamous messages between Page and Strzok, both married at the time, showed them discussing ways to “stop” Trump, whom they labeled an “idiot.” The two also backed Hillary Clinton, the twice-failed presidential candidate, in text messages.

 

The disturbing display of bias fueled concerns about political bias and discriminatory behavior against Trump, reaching a climax after FBI agents aggressively raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in 2022.

 

The messages were first released by then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to counter selective leaks undermining public trust in the DOJ. Fast forward to 2024, the settlement stipulates that the release of the messages violated the Privacy Act.

 

Despite his own bias, Strzok claimed that the FBI released his text messages for political purposes.

 

“While I have been vindicated by this result, my fervent hope remains that our institutions of justice will never again play politics with the lives of their employees,” he claimed, ignoring the bias he exhibited during the Mueller investigation.

 

Special Counsel John Durham, appointed in 2020 by then-Attorney General Bill Barr, revealed that Strzok opened the investigation into allegations of Russian collusion despite his “hostile feelings toward Trump.”

 

Moreover, Durham’s report highlighted that the investigation, known as Crossfire Hurricane, was initiated without interviewing those who provided the initial information or assessing internal FBI intelligence.

 

“Had it done so,” Durman noted, the FBI would have learned there was no evidence to back the Steele Dossier’s allegations.

 

“The speed and manner in which the FBI opened and investigated Crossfire Hurricane during the presidential election season based on raw, unanalyzed, and uncorroborated intelligence also reflected a noticeable departure from how it approached prior matters involving possible attempted foreign election interference plans aimed at the Clinton campaign,” Durham wrote in its final report.

A Tennessee woman has been sentenced to 41 months in prison and two years of supervised release for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. 33-year-old Bevelyn Beatty Williams was accused of blocking access to a lower Manhattan Planned Parenthood clinic.

 

Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said in a press release, "Bevelyn Beatty Williams repeatedly intimidated and interfered with individuals seeking and providing critical reproductive health services. She did so by physically blocking access to clinics, threatening staff, and by force. This Office and our law enforcement partners are committed to ensuring that patients exercising their legal right to obtain reproductive health services, and healthcare facilities and their staff providing those services, can do so without unlawful interference or fear of threats or violence."

 

According to the Department of Justice, Williams "threatened and used force against patients and staff members at a reproductive health center located in lower Manhattan" on June 19 and 20, 2020, blocking patients and staff from entering. Williams was reportedly caught on camera pressing her body against the door of the abortion clinic’s patient entrance. When a clinic staff member attempted to open the door for a volunteer, Williams leaned against the door and crushed the staff member’s hand, trapping and injuring it.

 

When staff members diverted patients from the patient entrance, where Williams was standing, to the staff entrance, Williams reportedly moved to that entrance and directed others to do the same.

 

Williams had live-streamed some of the actions, with one stream on June 19 capturing Williams telling the clinic’s chief administrative officer that "we’re gonna terrorize you so good, your business is gonna be over mama" and they would "terrorize this place." Williams also "stood within inches of a Health Center security officer and threatened 'war.'"

 

Williams and others were said to have interfered with those trying to go into abortion clinics across the country between 2019 and 2022, including in states like Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and in Brooklyn, New York. At a Fort, Meyers, Florida clinic in January 2022, Williams directed others to block entrances to the clinic, with the DOJ noting that this delayed treatment for over a dozen patients, including three that had "time-sensitive" procedures scheduled.

 

At an Atlanta, Georgia clinic in July 2022, Williams was said to have "screamed through the door at patients attempting to enter the facility until they were forced to leave," and shouted that she would go to jail before she let patients into the abortion clinic.

 

According to New York Daily News, Manhattan Federal Court Judge Jennifer Rochon said in the sentencing hearing, "You cannot commit crimes even in the name of a religious cause. People were trying to give and get legal medical services." Williams had been found guilty by a jury on February 12.

 

Williams told the court on Wednesday, "If I wasn’t saved [by Christ], I would have punched that woman in the face," adding, "In my heart, I would have never wanted that woman’s hand to be hurt." Williams, who is originally from Staten Island, said that she had received an abortion at 15 and it "took a toll on me."

Amid the fallout of President Joe Biden’s sudden announcement dropping out of the presidential race and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, there’s talk that Senator Mark Kelly may be her pick for running mate — despite his ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

 

After his retirement from NASA, Kelly cofounded World View Enterprises in 2012: a Tucson-based aerial surveillance company that contracts with the federal government and has received funding from Tencent Holding Unlimited, one of China’s largest tech companies connected to the CCP.

 

Until China’s estimated millions in investments, the company had been focused on commercial space exploration. After, the company shifted its focus to surveillance balloons capturing enhanced imagery of the earth.

 

With rising concerns over the company’s involvement with the CCP during Kelly’s initial Senate campaign, World View Enterprises President and CEO Ryan Hartman and their spokesmen have denied Tencent Holding Unlimited having enjoyed any access, input, or control over their company.

 

Kelly served as a strategic advisor to the company from 2015 to 2019, and maintained his holdings through 2020.

 

Tencent’s U.S. representative donated several thousand to Kelly’s campaign in 2019.

 

Kelly also received a donation from a lobbyist out of Huawei Technologies, a communications technology company with close ties to the CCP. The donation came in despite Kelly’s pledge to avoid PAC donations using a loophole of technicalities. The senator was able to receive Huawei Technologies donation by advising wealthy corporate donors to issue donations through personal checks, not corporate PAC checks, so as to keep him true to his word in the loosest sense.

 

Then, in 2022, Kelly’s six-figure investment in another aerospace company selling U.S. technology to China, Boom Technology, was reported on. Kelly was seated on the Senate Armed Services Committee, which oversees the Pentagon’s budget, and the Airland Subcommittee, which oversees the Air Force’s research budget. Boom Technology enjoyed an increased contract with the federal government after Kelly took office.

 

And yet, Kelly has spoken and acted in ways that appear in conflict with Chinese interests. He has openly declared China as one of the biggest threats to the U.S. in interviews with the media.

 

Earlier this year, Kelly cosponsored a bipartisan bill banning U.S.-based facilities receiving CHIPS and Science Act funds from buying chipmaking equipment from companies owned or controlled by China, Russia, North Korea, or Iran. Kelly has supported the advancement of Taiwanese-produced microchips, especially the manufacturing taking place in Arizona.

 

Last year, Kelly introduced bipartisan legislation to “block” military knowledge from being given to China and other adversaries. Kelly has also issued vocal opposition to the CCP’s takeover of Taiwan, most recently at the latest McCain Institute Sedona Forum.

 

Kelly isn’t the only rumored horse in the race for vice president. There’s also a slew of governors rumored as considered per a vetting process: Pennsylvania’s Josh Shapiro, North Carolina’s Roy Cooper, Kentucky’s Andy Beshear, Illinois’ JB Pritzker, North Carolina’s Roy Cooper, and Minnesota’s Tim Walz.

 

Though included on some lists of candidates, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer told reporters earlier this week that she wouldn’t accept the offer to run.

 

Biden administration members are also being considered: Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

 

However, some reporting has placed Kelly, Shapiro, and Cooper on the shortlist, citing sources familiar with a vetting team led by former attorney general Eric Holder’s law firm.

 

Reports also suggest that the Harris campaign is considering unnamed individuals who don’t hold an elective office.

The world’s first climate-related social rewards scheme came into being two weeks ago, when the city of Copenhagen officially launched it’s new “CopenPay” system.

 

Through the CopenPay scheme, tourists visiting the city will be rewarded for “green actions” – such as using public transportation or cycling – with access to “cultural experiences”, free meals etc.

 

For example, arriving at the CopenHill dry ski slope by foot or on a bike will get you 20 free minutes of ski time, while anyone who volunteers at an organic urban farm will get a free lunch (vegetarian, naturally).

 

The official CopenPay website describes the purpose of the system as follows:

 

…to encourage sustainable behaviour and enrich the cultural experience of visitors and residents in Copenhagen by transforming green actions into currency for cultural experiences.

 

WonderfulCopenhagen.com adds:

 

There is a need to change the mindset of tourists and encourage green choices […]Through CopenPay we therefore aim to incentivize tourists’ sustainable behaviour while enriching their cultural experience of our destination. It is an experimental and a small step towards creating a new mindset […] The hope is not only to continue the pilot project, but also to inspire other cities around the world to introduce similar initiatives.

 

Now, complimentary organic meals and free windsurfing lessons might seem benign enough, but any talk of “changing mindset” and/or “encouraging behaviour” makes my brain itch.

 

It’s pretty easy to see through the happy-clappy tone of the promotion to the heart of the issue, it’s right there in their own words: Transforming green actions into currency.

 

This is climate change based behavioral modification. This is a social credit system. Small scale and optional, sure, but there’s no denying that’s what it is.

 

For now it’s optional and only for tourists. They are testing the waters. Barring a catastrophic failure it won’t stay that way for long. They likely won’t ever make it mandatory to take part, rather – like bank accounts and cellphones – opting out will simply be too difficult for most people to bother with.

 

Eventually “rewarding green actions” will segue into “punishing non-green actions”. The currency of “cultural experiences” replaced with actual currency.

 

This isn’t guesswork. We don’t have to guess where this leads, because we know. They told us. They laid out the world they want to build, and this is just one of the first bricks.

Grim new survey shows how California Gov. Gavin Newsom's $20-an-hour minimum wage for fast-food workers has helped tank the industry

 

California fast-food restaurants have been forced to cut back on employee hours, shut down, or consider moving out of state completely because of Gov. Gavin Newsom's new $20-an-hour minimum wage law, a new study has shown.

 

The Employment Policies Institute survey of nearly 200 fast-food companies found that 89 percent of those eateries polled have already been forced to reduce scheduled hours for their employees, less than a year since it was passed.

 

Some have had to lay off staff completely - a prospect many had warned about when the progressive signed the bill into law in the fall.

 

Others complained that the concerns of small franchisees and their staffers would not be met - something the survey suggests is already occurring as officials continue to bill the law as a success.

 

The study, meanwhile, also found that of those who remain employed, there's been less access to overtime and opportunities for extra shifts, limiting their overall take-home.

 

To better understand the impact brought by the increase in minimum wage, the fiscally conservative non-profit looked at 182 limited-service restaurant operators in The Golden State.

 

The analysis took place between June and July, after new data released by the state revealed more than 6,000 fast-food jobs have already been lost since January.

 

The month the survey started, one of the most recognizable fast-food storefronts in all of Hollywood lost its long-held spot on Sunset - as Arby’s Roast Beef closed its doors after 55 years.

 

'Farewell Hollywood,' the eatery, owned solely by 91-year-old Marilyn Leviton, told customers in a sign on its shuttered door on June 15.

At the time, Leviton, the longtime holder of the lease, revealed to KTLA that she had been struggling to stay open for years.

Mamavation tested 13 facial tissue brands for PFAS “forever chemicals” sold in the USA and found that 46% showed indications of PFAS, with 66% of products with PFAS indications being advertised as bamboo-based. Studies have linked PFAS exposure to cancer, reproductive and immune system harm and other diseases. In other word, the original and primary form of income in human civilization, in human history, in human development, was PROFIT income.

And then, years later, after self sufficient production expanded, and those producers had enough excess income to save, it was THEN that people began to pay for labor, and to pay for capital goods, i.e. purchasing for the purpose of later selling.

When THAT happened, the income that was before all PROFIT income, was REDUCED by the costs of labor and the costs of capital.

The onset of Capitalism therefore, CONTRARY to Marx's claim, was in fact the onset of wages, and a REDUCTION of profit in (nominal terms).

Marx's entire theory is flawed at its core of who is allegedly "taking" money from who.

Prior to capitalism, all income was PROFIT income, then producers realized and had the means to pay for interim goods and for labor to help produce goods for the people paying those costs. That was when WAGE income arose, and wage income is a deduction from profit. Profit is not a deduction from wages.

 

The entire minimum wage law is based on a lie. And it's not a coincidence that when economic laws are violated, the result is economic devastation.

 

Wage earners have been brainwashed to believe that the way to prosperity is for wages to go up and profits to go down. But DIVIDENDS and INTEREST, the incomes earned by pensioners on their investments, by capitalists on their investments, is usually only around 10% of all incomes. Everything else is re-invested in growth of production and in wages.

 

All the bloody wars fought by communists to "equalize" society was in fact a fight over redistributing 10% of all incomes, and in the process REDUCING the real incomes of everyone most dependent on wages, who have their labor to offer.

 

The truth is that to increase real wages, there needs to be more and bigger capitalists who pay wages and pay for capital. Wage earners are BEST off when wages are free to rise and fall with market forces, and the best solution to widespread unemployment is for wages to be free to fall to market clearing levels.

As laborers go back to work, overall productivity goes up, and real wages go up, EVEN IF the nominal dollar wage rate is lower than before.

 

Marxists plague the Demokkkrat Party, they destroy everything they touch, all under a guise of justice and fairness, when in reality they destroy lives, and destroy productivity.

As thunderous applause rang out for the murderer, there were thousands of people outside trying to signal to the millions of people in Palestine that their turmoil isn’t being ignored.

 

There’s no mention of their duty to the people in the oath of office that members of Congress take. It says they will support and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Maybe, in some regard defending the Constitution would mean doing their job: representing the people that elected them. But today, the architect of the genocide against the Palestinian people walked in and out of the “people’s house” to a standing ovation. He was given more time with our lawmakers than any of us will ever get in our lifetime and he used it to insist he was a good man that was commanding a moral army – insisting they have not killed anyone who did not deserve to have their life ended in the blink of an eye.

 

There are one thousand indications that our government has no obligation to us. This moment was just one – but it was one I will never let slip my mind. These people are no different than the settlers that gather in lawn chairs, eat popcorn, and cheer when the Israeli military drops bombs on apartment complexes in Gaza. For as long as they’ve been in office, they’ve had a front row seat to the carnage and all they do is gawk and cheer from the sidelines. Every once in a while, someone they are supposed to work for pesters them about their complacency and we are swatted away like flies.

 

The majority opinion in the United States is against continued support for Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza. Stories come out every week that push the needle further. Last week, the story of Muhammad Bhar surfaced and was circulated around the world. Muhammad was my age, 24, and had Down Syndrome. The Israeli military raided his home and let their dog attack him, tearing his arm to shreds. They separated him from his family, and left him in a room all by himself. They ordered his family to leave the house and left Muhammad to die – alone, bleeding, and scared. His family found Muhammad starting to decompose in the room the soldiers left him in. He still had a tourniquet on his arm from when they tried to stop the bleeding. And they just left him there, like he was nothing.

 

The Israeli military confirmed this story days later and Netanyahu gets a round of applause for his courage and leadership. They don’t even feel the need to lie to the world about their atrocities anymore – letting babies suffocate to death in incubators months ago was the litmus test for what the United States would let slide. Ordering an attack dog on a man with Down Syndrome and locking him in a room to die without his loved ones there to console him wasn’t the red line – because there will never be one.

 

They gave a standing ovation.

 

If a man like Benjamin Netanyahu had walked through their home and mangled their children’s bodies so much that they could never forget the way they looked afterward – I wonder if they would applaud still. I wonder if the screams of their family members burning alive in tents would potentially interrupt the thought that told them to clap, the thought that told them to give the man a standing ovation for his perfectly executed slaughter of thousands of human beings.

 

Some part of me still wanted to believe that these people may still be completely misled – that perhaps they don’t know about the 15,000 children that have been killed. Maybe they haven’t seen what I’ve seen – the little girl with her face falling off, the boy with a missing head, the child with no legs, the mother unwilling to wash her children’s blood off her hands because it is all that is left of them. Maybe they haven’t seen it at all. As thunderous applause rang out for the murderer, there were thousands of people outside trying to signal to the millions of people in Palestine that their turmoil isn’t being ignored. They were pepper sprayed, beaten, and arrested by cops that were trained in Israel.

 

When I saw the video of the standing ovation, something sunk in me – this is where I was born. This is where both of my parents were born. I have no nation to be loyal to but a nation tripping over themselves to kill my friends’ families. There is bloodlust in the US Congress – and bloodlust seems like the only thing they are loyal to. If there are “enemies” foreign and domestic, I fear they view us as the latter.

 

I clap for my friends at their comedy shows. I clap for people after they finish a speech at a community event. I sometimes clap when the plane lands, if someone else does it first. To clap for an executioner of children, mothers, fathers and friends – how much did they sell their souls for?

I'm curious about all of this. I was raised Catholic which means I know nothing, just dogma. This current Pope convinced me to leave that religion behind and study some more for myself. More than 200 Christian leaders from an array of traditions have signed a letter calling for a permanent cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war and the release of hostages taken by Hamas, as well as a list of other measures aimed at providing relief in Gaza.

 

"We speak out as Christian leaders with a deep concern for the common good for all affected by war and conflict without exception," reads the letter, which was organized by Churches for Middle East Peace, a coalition of Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox churches based in Washington.

 

“We speak with urgency. We speak in a spirit of peace. We speak because we are deeply inspired by the courageous and selfless commitment of our Palestinian Christian brothers and sisters in the Holy Land, who suffer alongside their Muslim and Jewish neighbors and remain resolutely determined to help bring about a just and dignified future for all inhabitants of these lands."

 

Besides a cease-fire and the return of hostages, the letter goes on to call for "the release of Palestinian prisoners held without due process," as well as a free flow of humanitarian aid and a halt on shipping arms into the region.

 

"Without decisive action now, the consequences of this drift to deeper, broader, and more entrenched conflict will be more destruction and loss of innocent lives," the authors said. "It is time for the international community, as well as Israeli, Palestinian, and regional decision makers, to act. Our common humanity demands it."

 

The letter comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visits the U.S., where he is expected to address Congress on Wednesday (July 24) and meet with President Joe Biden on Thursday. A cover letter from CMEP addressed to Biden implores him to use Netanyahu’s visit to annul "monetary and diplomatic cover for Israel to continue its military assault on the people of Gaza."

 

Among the signers of the letter were Roman Catholic Cardinal Alvaro Ramazzini, bishop of Huehuetenango in Guatemala, and Bishops Steven Biegler of the Diocese of Cheynne in Wyoming, Stephen Lowe of the Diocese of Auckland in New Zealand, Christian Carlassare of the Diocese of Rumbek in South Sudan and Coffi Roger Anoumou of the Diocese of Lokossa in Benin.

 

The presidents of the Maryknoll Sisters and the Sisters of St. Joseph Philadelphia, both orders of nuns, also signed.

 

Among the Protestants signing the letter were the presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, bishops of the United Methodist Church, the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, Community of Christ, the Church of England and the Anglican Church of Sri Lanka.

 

In addition, the stated clerk of the Presbyterian Church (USA), the general secretary of the Reformed Church in America, a conference minister in the United Church of Christ and the clerk of Britain Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) signed it.

 

The heads of the National Council of Churches, Pax Christi Korea, the Asian American Christian Collaborative and The Witness, A Black Christian Collective, also signed the letter.

 

The letter warned that the conflict has the potential to expand into the surrounding region, including the possibility of full-scale war between Israel and Hezbollah. It also cautioned that as nonviolent resistance to decades of occupation is continuously met with "unjustified violence," individuals will increasingly turn to armed resistance.

 

"The window for constructive dialogue between combatant parties is rapidly closing. It will be replaced by more violence and further erosion of hope and trust," said the letter.

Trump tells Christians they won't have to vote after this election

 

Trump's remarks on Friday pointed to the need for both parties to energize their base voters ahead of what will likely be a closely fought election, for Trump that means his evangelical base.

 

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told Christians on Friday that if they vote for him this November, "in four years, you don't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good, you're not gonna have to vote."

 

It was not clear what the former president meant by his remarks, in an election campaign where his Democratic opponents accuse him of being a threat to democracy, and after his attempt to overturn his 2020 defeat to President Joe Biden, an effort that led to the deadly insurrection at the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

 

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for clarification of his comments.

 

Trump was speaking at an event organized by the conservative group Turning Point Action in West Palm Beach, Florida.

 

Trump said: "Christians, get out and vote, just this time. "You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians."

 

He added: "I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote," Trump said.

 

In an interview with Fox News in December, Trump said that if he won the Nov. 5 election he would be a dictator, but only on "day one," to close the southern border with Mexico and expand oil drilling.

 

Democrats have seized on that comment. Trump has since said the remarks were a joke.

Jesus said, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me” (John 8:42). Then a few verses later in John 8:44, Jesus told the Pharisees that they “belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire.” The fact that those who are not saved are not children of God is also seen in 1 John 3:10: “This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.”

 

We become God’s children when we are saved because we are adopted into God’s family through our relationship with Jesus Christ (Galatians 4:5-6; Ephesians 1:5). This can be clearly seen in verses like Romans 8:14-17: “…because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” Those who are saved are children “of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:26) because God has “predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will” (Ephesians 1:5).

Israel has planted spying devices disguised as rocks or pieces of trash and tapped into the secure fiber-optic landline network that Hezbollah built in Lebanon following the 2006 war.

 

According to Gen. Mounir Shehadeh, “It’s logical the resistance will have losses because Israel has satellites, spying technologies and the cooperation of intelligence services from other countries.” He has served as the Lebanese government’s coordinator to the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. The term “resistance” refers to pro-Iranian governments and terrorist organizations that are opponents of the US and Israel.

 

Shehadeh said Israel has gained access to private landline and cellphone numbers and has used voice-print and facial-recognition technologies to track targets.

 

Guarding against Israel's watch

To guard against Israeli spying, Hezbollah has told Lebanon’s residents to turn off online connections with security cameras in front of their homes in case of attempted hacking. It also provided instructions for people to stop taking and posting photos with their smartphones. For members of the terrorist organizations, it prohibited using smartphones, calling on members to rely on papers and only use codes for messages on their landlines.

 

“Turn it off … put it in a steel box and lock it in there for a week, two weeks, a month,” said Hezbollah General Secretary Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah in a speech in February, according to the Los Angeles Times report. “God knows how long this situation will last.”
