MacArthur High School students, you are the future leaders, and knowing the meaningful words of our Constitution’s preamble will empower you in the next chapters of your life.

It’s my privilege to share this great Nation, America, with you.

Throughout our lives, we cross thresholds. And although obstacles often stand in the way of our goals, we persevere, as we understand that conquering them will provide great access to personal development, fulfillment, and eventually self-actualization.

For me, reaching the milestone of American citizenship marked the sunrise of certainty. At that exact moment, I forever discarded the layer of burden connected with whether I would be able to live in the United States. I hope you are blanketed with similar feelings of comfort right now. Finally, I could plan all of the aspects of my life. I recall feeling a tremendous sense of pride and belonging after I recited the United States Oath of Allegiance, as the pathway to citizenship is arduous.

I was born and raised in the picturesque country of Slovenia, where my parents taught me the importance of a strong work ethic and pursuing my dreams. The values they instilled in me at an early age inspired my fashion and modeling career, and brought me to beautiful cities like Paris and Milan.

While working internationally had its share of rules and regulations, it wasn’t until I moved to New York City in 1996, that this system truly tested my determination. Upon my arrival, I immediately knew that I wanted to make the United States my permanent home. With the goal of securing a worker visa, I began researching, visiting consulates and embassies, and compiling the required records of my work experiences.

Quickly, my life turned into a labyrinth of organizing paperwork. (Back then, the convenience of technology’s document filing didn’t really exist to the extent it does today.) Patience and perseverance became my constant companions as I navigated through this intricate web, which I am sure you can all relate to. Even if very time-consuming, my dream of becoming a citizen pushed me to meticulously gather every last piece of information required, ensuring that no detail was overlooked.

My personal experience of traversing the challenges of the immigration process opened my eyes to the harsh realities people face (including you) who try to become US citizens. And then, of course, there are the nuances of understanding the United States immigration laws, and the complex legal language contained therein. I was very devoted, but I certainly was not an attorney, and eventually, it proved critical for me to retain counsel. I was fortunate to do so, as ultimately my journey was streamlined and brought me over the finish line, as a naturalized citizen.

While the challenges were numerous, the rewards were well worth the effort. I applaud you for every step you took, every obstacle you overcame, and every sacrifice you made. It's an honor to stand with you in these hallowed halls today in the presence of the Declaration of Independence. The very document on which our Founding Fathers carefully composed the words that capture the ideals surrounding individual liberty and this great republic. Arguably, one of the most important documents of all time.

Becoming an American citizen comes with responsibility. It means actively participating in the democratic process and guarding our freedom. It also means leading by example and contributing to our society. It is a life-altering experience that takes time, determination, and sometimes even tremendous strength.

You are now a part of a Nation with a rich history of progress, innovation, and resilience. Though you come from 25 different countries, your dreams and aspirations intertwine with those who have come before you, since 1776, and together, shape the future of this extraordinary country.

Be proud of yourself, stand your ground, and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. You are American—be a beacon of inspiration for your children, and those who follow in your footsteps. May your journey continue to be filled with endless possibilities, and may your contributions enrich the fabric of this great Nation.

Still frames grabbed from one of the last videos show zipcuffs on the corpse. These zipcuffs appear to be done to hide the wrist tattoo on his right arm. Why else would you cuff a guy with a big hole in his head. To other officers on the scene they wouldn't question the zipcuffs. This means that there was at least one person on scene first who was part of the cover up.

 

The later hose down of the roof was to remove DNA evidence from the scene so you couldn't ID him.

You just reminded me of a trip to Midland Michigan in 1975. Clear day. Took picture on a bridge that spans Dow Chemical's brine river. Film. Good camera. Back then we would take a series of photos from left to right or vise versa to create "panoramic" views when the prints were developed. I did that. The pictures of the North bank were perfect, the water was perfect, then I took two others to the South bank. Those shots included part of the Dow facility. I took them in Midland. Went back home to Toledo Ohio and got them developed at a then Eckerds (now CVS). The North side prints were there, the rest of the shots were not…including the related negatives. All other pics shot on that roll of film were fine. Somehow, in a different state, those photos of the South bank of Dow were the only ones that were missing, AND the negatives. That was in the mid 70s. I've been awake for a while.

LOS ANGELES — For nearly two decades, Hollywood has seemingly missed no opportunity to sound the alarm about climate change.

 

There have been cri de coeur documentaries, most notably “An Inconvenient Truth.” Superheroes have been concerned, with Batman bemoaning humankind’s treatment of the planet in “Justice League.”Nary an award show goes by without a star or several begging viewers to take environment-saving action.

 

So it was startling when the weather-focused “Twisters” arrived from Universal Pictures this month with no mention of climate change at all. If ever there was a perfect vehicle to carry Hollywood’s progressive climate change messaging — a big-budget movie about people caught in worsening storm patterns — wasn’t this it?

 

Apparently not. Movies should not be about “preaching a message,” Lee Isaac Chung, who directed “Twisters,” said in a prerelease interview that served as a dog whistle to conservative ticket buyers.

 

Trend spotting in cinema is a hazardous pursuit. Sometimes a movie is just a movie.“Twisters,” however, is emblematic of a clear shift in Hollywood: After a period of openly using movies to display progressive values, sometimes with success at the box office (“Barbie”) and often not(“Strange World,” “The Marvels,” “The Color Purple,” “Dark Waters”),studios seem to be heeding a message that many ticket buyers — especially in the center of the country— have been sending for a long time:We just want to be entertained, no homework attached.

 

Put bluntly, it amounts to an attempt by Hollywood to bend to red-state audiences.

 

“It’s a reflection of economics and the desperation of the film industry,” said Corby Pons, a movie marketer who focuses on the faith community and is based in Nashville, Tennessee. “We want you to attend our movies. We need you to attend our movies.”

 

Disney, which owns seven studios, including Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and 20th Century, has put its creative ranks on notice. “We have to entertain first — it’s not about messages,” Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, said at a conference late last year. “I don’t really want to tolerate the opposite.”

 

His comments were a sharp reversal from Disney’s shareholder meeting in 2017, when he spoke with pride about more openly weaving sociopolitical messages into the company’s movies. “We can take those values, which we deem important societally, and actually change people’s behavior,” Iger said then. (The shift seems to be going well, with escapist Disney movies like “Inside Out 2” and this weekend’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” arriving as instant smash hits.)

 

For 20 years, Participant Media was Hollywood’s preeminent maker of films with a conscience.“An Inconvenient Truth” was one of its early successes. But the company shut down in April. Participant relied on studios and streaming services to distribute its eat-your-broccoli documentaries and dramas about underrepresented communities, and those partners have cut back on such “niche” content in favor of more populist offerings. Streaming services like Netflix have also started to sell ads, and advertisers prefer all-audience, apolitical content.

 

Paramount describes its current focus as “all-audience, flat-out entertaining films.” Those include “Gladiator II,” one of the most-anticipated movies of the fall. “==Many moviegoers don’t want agendas or Hollywood telling them what they should be thinking=,” said Chris Aronson, Paramount’s president of domestic distribution. He cited “IF,” a feel-good PG movie that came out in May about a girl with imaginary friends, as one that “resonated strongly” with ticket buyers in the heartland.

 

Some stars are steering more directly to the right. Although it didn’t result in the hit he envisioned, Kevin Costner squarely pitched his “Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1” to red-state moviegoers last month. (One “Horizon” ad prominently quoted conservative commentator Glenn Beck saying, “Kevin Costner may be the only one capable of telling the true American story.”) Dwayne Johnson, ever attuned to the marketplace, went on Fox News in the spring to decry “woke culture” and say that he regretted endorsing President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

Hollywood has not recovered from the pandemic (in part because pandemic closures were followed by two lengthy union strikes against studios). Ticket sales so far this year in North America total $4.3 billion, down roughly 35% from the same period in 2019, according to Comscore, which tracks box office data.

 

As studios try to climb back, the heartland represents a specific opportunity.Ticket buyers in red states were the fastest to return to theaters after the pandemic, while those in coastal cities were the slowest. Some large markets, including San Francisco, have not fully recovered, according to studio distribution executives.

 

As Sarah Unger, co-founder of Cultique, a firm in Los Angeles that advises companies on changing cultural norms, wrote in an entertainment industry newsletter Wednesday, “Hollywood is missing a massive audience in plain sight.”

Just 45 minutes after President Biden announced on Sunday that he was stepping aside as the Democratic nominee, Team Kamala started to take shape.

 

Kate Conway, Biden’s creative director, dropped a message on the team’s Slack channel, “Please give a wave to this message if you’re online and available to do some design work right now. We are gearing up toward some quick pivots.”

 

Conway was now Kamala Harris’ creative director. Within three hours there was a new Harris for President Logo. In just over a day, her team rebuilt the Harris branding inventory, from print ads to website.

 

In her first interview since becoming Harris’ creative director (she was only appointed by Team Biden in March), Conway told Fast Company, “There’s really no overselling how difficult a task that is—the brand exists everywhere from yard signs and rally placards to the website, our social channels, and our ads.”

Harris’ campaign’s visual identity had to be created far more rapidly than the usual, carefully planned version that most candidates have at their disposal.

The focus, till now, has been on Harris’ campaign chair, campaign manager, and growing speculation as to whom she might draft in to help with the political hand-to-hand combat. But any bid for president involves a huge campaign machinery, much of it out of sight. The speed that Harris has assumed the role of nominee is unprecedented, and one of her first decisions was to work with, and effectively inherit, most of the senior Biden campaign staff.

 

When she went to Biden’s campaign HQ in Wilmington on Monday she told staffers that she had asked Biden’s campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon, and campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, to stay on. Both readily accepted. O’Malley Dillon became the first woman to manage a winning Democratic presidential campaign in 2020. She was hailed then as having a masterful ability to steer a candidate to the winning line of 270 Electoral College votes.

 

She’ll need those skills more than ever. Her candidate starts behind in the polls and is having to build a campaign team on the move. As a longtime close ally, Bakari Sellers, said immediately after Biden stepped aside, “We’re building the plane while we’re flying it.” The room where Harris met with staff in Wilmington had been hastily redecorated with a California flag and new “Harris for President” signs. But a Biden-Harris logo still hung on one wall.

 

Creative director Conway revealed that the pivot from Biden to Harris was so swift that staff waited at the printers so that they could rush the “Harris for President” signs to the Wilmington event. Fast Company reported that, “They had to run them there while they were still wet to make it in time.”

When his book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” was published in 2016, JD Vance sent an email apologizing to a close friend from his Yale Law School days. The friend identified as transgender, but Mr. Vance referred to them in the book as a lesbian.

 

“Hey Sofes, here’s an excerpt from my book,” Mr. Vance wrote to his friend, Sofia Nelson. “I send this to you not just to brag, but because I’m sure if you read it you’ll notice reference to ‘an extremely progressive lesbian.’”

 

“I recognize now that this may not accurately reflect how you think of yourself, and for that I am really sorry,” he wrote. “I hope you’re not offended, but if you are, I’m sorry! Love you, JD.”

 

Nelson wrote back the same day, calling Mr. Vance “buddy” and thanking him for “being sweet,” adding, “If you had written gender queer radical pragmatist, nobody would know what you mean.” Nelson asked for an autographed copy, then signed off with, “Love, Sofia.”

 

That exchange is from a series of emails between two friends, part of a close-knit group of 16 students who remained together throughout their first law school semester in the fall of 2010. As now-Senator Vance seeks the vice presidency,Nelson has shared about 90 of their emails and text messages, primarily from 2014 through 2017, with The New York Times.

 

The emails, in which Mr. Vance criticizes former President Donald J. Trump both for “racism” and as a “morally reprehensible human being,” add to an already-existing body of evidence showing Mr. Vance’s ideological pivot from Never Trumper to Mr. Trump’s running mate.

 

And they reflect a young man quite different from the hard-right culture warrior of today who back then brought homemade baked goods to his friend after Nelson underwent transition-related surgery. The visit cemented their bond.

 

“The content of the conversation was,” Nelson said in an interview with The New York Times, “‘I don’t understand what you’re doing, but I support you.’ And that meant a lot to me at the time, because I think that was the foundation of our friendship.”

 

The political views of the two were sharply divergent, but their friendship would continue for a decade, strengthened by their shared Midwestern roots — Nelson grew up in Western Michigan and Mr. Vance in Ohio — and cynical views of Ivy League elitism.

 

Nelson, a Tufts University graduate, had received a prestigious Truman scholarship for law school, indicating a desire to work in public service.

 

At times, they exchanged messages infrequently. At other times, they would have energetic back-and-forths several times a week. And their talks reflected the history playing out around them — protests against police violence in Ferguson, Mo., the massacre of Black churchgoers in Charleston, S.C., and the 2016 campaign between Mr. Trump and Hillary Clinton. Their conversations were notable not only for Mr. Vance’s harsh comments about Mr. Trump, but also for the tenderness and thoughtful tone in the messages.

 

They provide what may be a textbook example of respectful discourse, revealing a cultural willingness by Mr. Vance to accept Nelson’s gender identity, which sharply differs from the anti-L.G.B.T.Q. sentiments evident at the Republican National Convention.

 

Nelson, now a public defender in Detroit, said they visited each other’s homes, talked on Zoom during the pandemic and exchanged long emails discussing a range of subjects, from the minutiae of daily life to weighty discussions of current events and public policy issues. Nelson attended Mr. Vance’s wedding in Kentucky in 2014. They pondered doing a podcast together — he suggested they call it “The Lunatic Fringe.”

But Nelson and Mr. Vance had a falling out in 2021, when Mr. Vance saidpublicly he supported an Arkansas ban on gender-affirming care for minors, leading to a bitter exchange that deeply hurt Nelson.

 

“He achieved great success and became very rich by being a Never Trumper who explained the white working class to the liberal elite,” Nelson said, referring to Mr. Vance’s successful 2016 book. “Now he’s amassing even more power by expressing the exact opposite.”Now, Nelson, who opposes the Trump/Vance ticket, hopes the emails inform the opinion of voters about Mr. Vance.

 

Responding to a request for comment on the emails, Luke Schroeder, a spokesman for the Vance campaign, issued a statement:

 

“It’s unfortunate this individual chose to leak decade-old private conversations between friends to The New York Times. Senator Vance values his friendships with individuals across the political spectrum.He has been open about the fact that some of his views from a decade ago began to change after becoming a dad and starting a family, and he has thoroughly explained why he changed his mind on President Trump. Despite their disagreements, Senator Vance cares for Sofia and wishes Sofia the very best.”

 

Charting His Own Path

In 2014, they were both near the beginning of their careers, about a year out of law school.

 

Mr. Vance shared that he was planning to buy a house in Washington, D.C., with his wife, Usha, whom he also met at Yale.

The Vances could afford a house in Washington’s highly priced market partly because Mr. Vance was starting a job in Big Law. “Blech,” he wrote then, indicating his distaste for a career he had already decided against. He would remain with the white-shoe firm Sidley Austin for less than two years.

 

In the same exchange, Mr. Vance also wrote about his wife’s interviews with justices of the Supreme Court, where she was seeking a clerkship. Mr. Vance worried that her seeming politically neutral, or lack of “ideological chops,” could harm her chances.

 

“Scalia and Kagan moved very quickly,” Mr. Vance wrote, referring to Antonin Scalia, the conservative justice who died in 2016, and Elena Kagan, one of the court’s current three liberal justices, “but she was just not going to work out for Scalia.”

Nelson wrote back, “His homophobic screeds are hard to believe in 2014.”

 

=“He’s become a very shrill old man,” Mr. Vance responded. “I used to really like him, and I used to believe all of his stuff about judicial minimalism was sincere. Now I see it as a political charade.”

 

Mrs. Vance would end up clerking for Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr.

 

On Cops, Body Cams and Pride Day

Like their conversations, Mr. Vance could be surprising.

In October 2014, in the wake of the killing of Michael Brown, an 18-year-old Black man, by a white police officer in Ferguson, Nelson raised the idea of requiring that police officers wear body cameras.

“I hate the police,” Mr. Vance said in his response. “Given the number of negative experiences I’ve had in the past few years, I can’t imagine what a Black guy goes through.”

Around the same time, the written conversation turned to a much-discussed essay by Ta-Nehisi Coates in The Atlantic making the case for reparations. Mr. Vance offered that whatever problems he had with reparations, generally, “I have at least been convinced of the virtue of compensating modern victims who’ve suffered redlining or denial of federal benefits.”

 

By next summer, after a shooting at the Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, the two were again discussing race. Mr. Vance said he didn’t understand why people “can’t see the connection between this person murdering innocent people and the fact that the Confederate flag — by democratic will — still flies” at the South Carolina Statehouse. “I’m not sure how to wrap my head around it.” (The flag was removed from the Statehouse in Columbia a month later.)

In June 2015, Mr. Vance also revealed to Nelson that Jeb Bush’s presidential campaign had offered him a job as senior domestic policy adviser, then reneged, after discovering a negative piece he had written about George W. Bush’s economic policies. (The New York Times reached out to several former advisers to Jeb Bush’s campaign, who could not confirm that there was a job offer.)

 

Mr. Vance wrote to Nelson that he was looking forward to getting together for a longer conversation with “some bourbon and puppy dogs by my side.”

 

In 2015, Mr. Vance moved to California for a new career in the tech industry, one he launched, he suggested, after the Bush episode.

 

“It’s possible to view this entire extended foray into the California tech scene as a wound-licking exercise after my brief encounter with American politics,” he wrote.

 

Living in the Bay Area at the time, on June 28 that year, he wished Nelson “Happy Pride,” adding, “I’m thinking of braving the crowds in S.F. just to people watch.”

 

After attending the Pride Day parade, he wrote, “It felt more like a frat party than I expected. But still nice to see a lot of happy people.”

Opposing Trump

 

By 2015, Mr. Trump’s rise had begun. Mr. Vance’s Yale friends, including Nelson, were not surprised that Mr. Vance, whom they regarded as a moderate Republican, was opposed to Mr. Trump’s candidacy.

Mr. Vance was rooting against Mr. Trump but also said he could not bring himself to vote for Mrs. Clinton. He vowed to cast his ballot for a third-party candidate.

 

In December 2015, in emails analyzing the campaign, he wrote that Mr. Trump’s appeal was misunderstood.

 

“If you look at the polling, the issue where Trump gets the most support is on the economy,” Mr. Vance wrote. “If the response of the media, and the elites of both right and left, are to just say ‘look at those dumb racists supporting Trump,’ then they’re never going to learn the most important lesson of Trump’s candidacy.”

 

And he said that he himself saw something in Mr. Trump.

 

Mr. Vance wrote that he found it exhilarating that the media and Wall Street seemed powerless against Mr. Trump, also suggesting that he partly understood the Trump appeal.

“If he would just tone down the racism, I would literally be his biggest supporter,” he wrote.

The next day, on Dec. 9, 2015, the two would again talk race, Mr. Trump and Muslims.

 

Nelson wrote that a Muslim friend had said that women wearing hijabs no longer felt safe doing simple things like going to the grocery store.

Mr. Vance responded, referring to Mr. Trump as a demagogue.

 

“I’m obviously outraged at Trump’s rhetoric, and I worry most of all about how welcome Muslim citizens feel in their own country,” he wrote. “And there have always been demagogues willing to exploit the people who believe crazy shit. What seems different to me is that the Republican Party offers nothing that’s as attractive as the demagogue.”

In September 2016, he shared a piece on implicit bias that he wrote for The New York Times following Mrs. Clinton’s ill-fated “basket of deplorables” comment, thanking Nelson in the email for helping inform his thinking in developing the essay.

 

“The more white people feel like voting for Trump, the more Black people will suffer. I really believe that,” he wrote.

 

Not only had Mr. Vance been critical of Mr. Trump for racism, but he also said, “I’ve been very critical of other Repubs for the L.G.B.T.Q. issue, especially Rick Perry,” referring to the former Texas governor.

In another email a month later, he called Mr. Trump a “disaster,” using a vulgarity, and added, “He’s just a bad man.”

And then, to the amazement of many Americans, Mr. Trump won.

 

Nelson sent Mr. Vance a copy of an article in The Onion, a satirical news site, that suggested liberals were clueless about the country they lived in.

“This is funny. Thank you!” Mr. Vance wrote back.

“My zany prediction: in 20 years H.R.C. and Paul Ryan will be part of the same party,” he continued, using an abbreviation for Mrs. Clinton. “And you and I will be on the other side.”

 

In January 2017, he expressed more sober concern.

“I’m deeply pessimistic right now,” he wrote. “I’ve been thinking a lot about the civil rights movement and legislation in the 1960s, and I wonder if our society is healthy enough to accomplish anything of that scale (or even close to it).”

 

A Political Career Beckons, and a Friendship Unravels

By 2017, Mr. Vance was planning a move back to Ohio. According to Nelson, Mitch McConnell, the Senate Republican leader, had reached out and encouraged him to run as a Republican for Senator Sherrod Brown’s seat.

 

He kicked the tires of a race as an anti-Trump candidate against a formidable Democratic incumbent and took a pass.

 

It would be four years later that he would run, this time seeking Mr. Trump’s support, and win the open Ohio seat that would put him in position to be Mr. Trump’s running mate.

 

Nelson communicated with the Vances over Zoom early in the pandemic, after their move back to Ohio. Their email correspondence had died down, and Nelson had noted a shift in the tone of Mr. Vance’s social media postings. In April 2021, one particularly stood out.

 

On Twitter, Mr. Vance had come out in support of an Arkansas measure banning gender-transitioning care for minors. The bill was ultimately adopted over a veto by Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who had declared it an overreach, before it was overturned by a court ruling.

“Do you support the AR legislation criminalizing providing medical care to trans kids?” Nelson texted him in April 2021.

“I do. I recognize this is awkward but I’ll always be honest with you,” Mr. Vance responded. “I think the trans thing with kids is so unstudied that it amounts to a form of experimentation.”

 

Nelson wrote back that his position “deeply saddens me.”

 

“I know I can’t change your mind but the political voice you have become seems so far from the man I got to know in law school,” wrote Nelson, later explaining their position “as a trans person who accessed needed health care so I could live a full life.”

 

“I have a 1:30,” Mr. Vance wrote. “I will always love you, but I really do think the left’s cultural progressivism is making it harder for normal people to live their lives.”

 

It had been a friendship of the special type forged in young adulthood, before the accumulation of life responsibilities and fateful decisions already made. Now, it was over.

Israel accused Lebanon-based Islamist group Hezbollah on Saturday of launching a rocket tha landed on a soccer field in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights, which killed at least 12 teenagers and children, mostly of Syrian Druze origin, and wounded about 20 others. The group has denied involvement in the attack.

 

An earlier Israeli airstrike on southern Lebanon reportedly killed three Hezbollah members.

 

Commenting on the latest escalation across the border, Lavrov told reporters on Sunday that Russia “condemns all terrorist actions by any entity,” recalling that Moscow equally condemned the October 7 Hamas attack on Israeli civilians and Israel’s retaliation, which he said was a “flagrant violation of international humanitarian law” because it amounted to “collective punishment of the people.”

 

The strategically important Golan Heights were seized from Syria in the 1967 Six Day war and later unilaterally annexed by Israel – a move that is still not recognized by most of the international community.

 

In response to the soccer field attack, the Israel Defense Forces said it had conducted strikes on “a series of Hezbollah terror targets… both deep inside Lebanese territory and in southern Lebanon.”

 

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz claimed in the aftermath of the strike on the stadium that “there is no doubt that Hezbollah crossed all red lines” while warning that his country is on the brink of “an all-out war” with the group in Lebanon.

 

Tensions have been running high on the Israel-Lebanon border since the Palestinian movement Hamas attacked Israel, with West Jerusalem and Hezbollah – which has close ties to Iran – frequently exchanging cross-border fire, fueling concerns about the possibility of a wider regional conflict.

French cybercrime unit responds to doxxing of Israeli Olympic team – AFP

 

The athletes’ personal information was leaked ahead of the Summer Games in Paris

 

The French Anti-Cybercrime Office (OFAC) has been tasked with removing the private information of Israeli athletes, which was leaked ahead of the Summer Olympic Games in Paris, AFP reported on Saturday, citing police sources.

 

On Friday, the hacker group Zeus published personal data of the members of the Israeli delegation, including documents, personal photos, addresses, medical information, and information about military service. The hackers claimed they were “revealing what Israeli soldiers are doing at the Olympics,” according to Ynet.

 

The incident was classified as doxxing – a malicious publication of private data online – and reported to Pharos, a French service for flagging illegally disseminated content. According to Israeli media, the hackers also tried to harass the athletes online while impersonating a French far-right student group.

 

Israeli officials claimed that the campaign was part of Iran’s “digital terrorism,” with Sports Minister Miki Zohar accusing Tehran of attempting to “intimidate Israeli athletes and carry out psychological terror.”
