The Army Sacks Another Senior Enlisted Leader in the Washington, DC, Area

Another senior enlisted Army official the second in the past week has been fired from their position in the Washington, D.C., area, according to the service.

Command Sgt. Maj. Harold "Ed" Jarrell, the top enlisted leader for the Army's 1st Information Operations Command, was relieved Tuesday, though it was unclear what led to his dismissal. That follows the firing of the senior enlisted leader in charge of the Army branch that oversees operations across the greater D.C. region on Aug. 8.

Jarrell was fired due to a "loss of trust and confidence in his ability to lead effectively," Maj. Lindsay Roman, a spokesperson for U.S. Army Cyber Command, told Military.com, declining to go into detail.

"Loss of trust and confidence" is the go-to line for the service when a senior official is fired. Those reasons could range from immoral conduct, poor performance or criminal activity – though Jarrell was not facing any military criminal charges as of Thursday, according to a review of the service's legal docket.

Military.com was unable to reach Jarrell for comment ahead of publication. It was also unclear whether he had hired an attorney. He previously served as the command sergeant major of the 311th Military Intelligence Battalion at Camp Zama, Japan.

The 1st Information Operations Command primarily handles intelligence analysis and cybersecurity for the Army.

Jarrell has a relatively robust Army resume: He initially enlisted into the National Guard in 1999 as an infantryman, according to his military record, and eventually transferred to active duty, spending much of his platoon-level time with the 10th Mountain Division. He changed jobs to counterintelligence in 2009.

He served as a Ranger School instructor; deployed eight times, including four tours to Afghanistan; and earned a spot on the commandant's list for every noncommissioned officer school he attended, including the Sergeants Major Academy. He served in counterintelligence roles in 10th Special Forces Group and the 75th Ranger Regiment. His awards include five Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

Jarrell's termination comes immediately after another senior enlisted leader in the region was fired last week. Those two sergeants major are under different commands.

Command Sgt. Maj. Veronica Knapp, the top enlisted leader for the Army's Military District of Washington, which encompasses much of the service's force around the nation's capital, was fired Aug. 8.

Knapp is among the highest-profile women in the service, previously serving as the command sergeant major for the prestigious 101st Airborne Division from 2021 through mid-2023.

She joined the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region/Army Military District of Washington in June 2023. Her portfolio in the role included much of the Army's ceremonial apparatus, including the United States Army Band and the Old Guard, which perform ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery.

Last month, across the globe, Command Sgt. Maj. Matthew Carlson was also fired from his role as the senior enlisted leader of the 173rd Airborne Brigade based in Vicenza, Italy.

Anti-free speech fascist Taylor Lorenz has been caught lying about branding His Fraudulency Joe Biden a “war criminal.”

The privileged Washington Post columnist took a selfie during Wednesday’s White House Creator Economy Conference. In it, a masked (naturally) Lorenz is in the foreground. Biden is clearly in the background addressing the assembled audience. Directly below Biden is the caption “War criminal” with a frowny face.

Per Fox News:

[T]he [war criminal] post was allegedly made in an Instagram story specifically using the “close friends” feature as indicated by the green star icon, meaning it was not posted publicly and could only have been seen by a select group of Instagram users of her choosing.

So, she apparently intended to share this with only people she could trust.

Ah, but then it leaked to Jon Levine of the New York Post, who posted it on Xwitter.

At this point, you would think that someone who worked at the Washington Post (of all places) would understand that the cover-up is worse than the crime. But, Lorenz is something of a special case: A privileged, entitled princess who has gotten away with so much and still somehow survived numerous layoffs. Likely because she sees herself as untouchable, she went the cover-up route. She denied it was real.

“You people will fall for any dumbass edit someone makes,” she xweeted.

But, then, the far-left NPR verified that the photo and “war criminal” caption were real:

NPR has obtained a screengrab of Lorenz’s actual post, which contained that caption. … Four people with direct knowledge of the private Instagram story confirmed its authenticity to NPR. They spoke to NPR on condition they not be identified due to the professional sensitivity of the situation for Lorenz.

Then Lorenz laughably claimed she never said it was fake…

“I literally never ‘denied it was real,’” she xweetedafter the NPR bust. She also tried this word saladto explain her denial: “Yeah that’s saying they’re falling for (charitable view) something that’s an obvious meme reference by taking it seriously. Please don’t put words in my mouth[.]”

And, now, the Post is reportedly looking into it.

Lorenz has been a PR disaster for the Post for years. No serious media outlet would employ her, which is why the Incredible Shrinking Washington Post is losing money and laying off hundreds of staffers. On top of being a dumb hysteric and a total neurotic, she’s breathtakingly bad at her job. The Post cannot begin to repair its reputation with Taylor Lorenz on the payroll. So…

Let’s hope they never fire her.

Trump Media & Technology Group's stock dropped more than 11% this week, suffering from sour sentiment after a weak earnings report and the return of former President Donald Trump to rival social media platform X.

The company’s woes stretch back to the middle of last month. Since then, the stock for the Truth Social parent company has plummeted by about 43%. Yet as the stock continues to slide, some of its investors remain unfazed, telling ABC News they are optimistic about the company's financial outlook, or intend to stand by it as an expression of their support for Trump.

Todd Schlanger, an interior designer from West Palm Beach, told ABC News that he purchased shares in Trump Media because he supports Trump's politics and believes in his businesses.

"I'm a Republican, so I supported him. When I found out about the stock, I got involved because I support the company and believe in free speech," said Schlanger, who said he owns approximately a thousand shares of the company.

A frequent user of the social media platform, Schlanger boasted about the user interface – "It's like a combination of X and Facebook" – and said he looked forward to the expansion of the company's streaming services.

"I think it's going to be as strong as Facebook or Twitter," said Schlanger.

Other investors said they primarily saw Truth Social as a way to support the former president.

"I did it more as a statement to President Trump and to show support at the time. I wasn't really looking to make a lot of money," said Teri Lynn Roberson, who bought five shares of the company as the company neared its peak stock price after going public in March.

Roberson said she was unconcerned about the stock's poor performance or the impact of Trump's potential return to rival X, the latter of which she said could benefit Trump's presidential campaign by expanding his audience of supporters beyond the "echo chamber" of Truth Social.

"I'm way at a loss, but I am OK with that. I am just watching it for fun," Roberson said.

Truth Social's stock performance holds significant financial implications for the former president, who owns a 65% stake in the company. Truth Social shares make up a large portion of Trump's overall net worth, according to Fortune.

Truth Social did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment.

Truth Social's recent losses

An earnings report released last Friday showed, Truth Social had lost more than $16 million over a three-month period ending in June. The company brought in revenue of about $836,000, down 30% from $1.2 million a year earlier, the earnings report showed.

In a statement released following the earnings report, Truth Social CEO Devin Nunes applauded the company's balance sheet, including $344 million in cash and no debt.

"From the beginning, it was our intention to make Truth Social an impenetrable beachhead of free speech, and by taking extraordinary steps to minimize our reliance on Big Tech, that is exactly what we are doing," Nunes said…

There's a political storm brewing on Florida's Atlantic Coast, just outside of Jacksonville.

A voter guide falsely purporting to show a slate of endorsements by the local Republican party hit mailboxes in St. John's County, sowing confusion just as the primary was about to kick off this month.

The latest salvo in what many say is already an overheated election cycle, the incident has brought attention to an intra-party slugfest being waged inside the local GOP, amid a fight for the future of how and how fast development should proceed in the area around historic St. Augustine.

"I saw the card, and I'm like, this is a real issue," St. John's County GOP Chair Denver Cook told ABC News. "I was in shock. I'm dealing with one of probably the most flagrant frauds on voters – the day before early voting. It became an instant train wreck."

On the eve of the first ballots being cast last Friday, as the mysterious mailers began spreading, Cook said his phone began blowing up with perplexed messages.

According to Cook, the glossy handout had a thickness, color scheme and font like the official voter guides put out by the local Republican party in June. And though it purported to be the "official 2024 membership-approved endorsements" of the county Republican party, it had a very different list of candidates from the ones the party had announced support for.

The new mailers also lacked any legal disclaimers explaining who paid for them, Cook said. And in pictures of the envelope that one of the fake mailers came in, which were reviewed by ABC News, the postmark was dated Aug. 7 – timed to arrive just in time for Aug. 10th's early voting.

Cook, who is also running for St. John's clerk of courts and comptroller, didn't know how widely the phony cards were sent, but one thing was clear: In this predominantly Republican area, whoever won the primary would likely be the victor in November.

"That's why there's such a fight," Diane Scherff, president of local political action committee "Trump Club of St. John's County" said.

"It is the battle for the soul of St John's County," said Scherff, whose PAC endorsed a list of candidates in the spring that bucks the local GOP's.

So, the urgent question: Where did this pamphlet come from?
