FBI to pay more than $22 million to 34 women who claimed sexual harassment at training academy

The FBI has agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit by paying more than $22 million to 34 female recruits alleging they were sexual harassed and dismissed from the agency's Quantico, Virginia, training facility, according to news reports Monday.

 

They women allege having been routinely harassed by instructors with sexually charged comments about their breast size, false allegations of infidelity and the need to take contraception “to control their moods,” according to the Associated Press.

 

The settlement is still subject to approval by a federal judge. But if the payout is approved, it would be among the largest lawsuit settlements in the history of the FBI, the wire service also reports.

 

“These problems are pervasive within the FBI and the attitudes that created them were learned at the academy,” said David J. Shaffer, the lawyer for the women. “This case will make important major changes in these attitudes.”

 

The suit was filed in 2019 and also contends the female recruits were judged more harshly than their male peers and “excessively targeted for correction and dismissal in tactical situations for perceived lack of judgment” and subjective “suitability” criteria.

 

The FBI did not immediately comment on the settlement. However, mny of the allegations in the lawsuit were confirmed in a 2022 internal watchdog report.

 

In the settlement announced Monday, the FBI would offer the plaintiffs an opportunity to continue training toward becoming agents and “guaranteed placement,” for those who pass, in one of their top three preferred field offices, the Associated Press also reports.

 

The suit follows sexual misconduct claims against several senior FBI officials, who were identified in an Associated Press investigation and who quietly left the bureau with full benefits even after allegations against them were substantiated.

Israel's Foreign Minister Israel Katz told his counterparts on Monday that the Jewish state will not agree to a ceasefire in Lebanon unless Hezbollah agrees to disarm and abandon their own border with Israel.

Kan says that ministers involved in talks for a potential truce were also sent the same message.

 

Katz reportedly says that the only acceptable situation for a ceasefire would see Hezbollah pushed away from Israel’s border and remaining north of the Litani River, disarmed.

 

Katz said last month that the Jewish state is expecting its Western allies to attack Iran if they're hit with retaliatory strikes for assassinating Hamas's leader in Tehran.

Speaking to NTD’s British Thought Leaders, Professors Martin Neil and Norman Fenton spoke about their new book which explores the science and data used to make decisions during the covid-19 pandemic.

 

Prof. Neil explained that although deaths were slightly elevated in the UK in 2020 there was no excess mortality. “There wasn’t really a pandemic,” he said. “The cause of those upticks and death tolls is either statistical manipulation of data or it was what we call iatrogenic effects,” he said.

 

Iatrogenic effects are harmful effects of medical treatment. “The way that people were treated in old people’s homes, hospitals – primarily the elderly and the vulnerable had a treatment regime imposed on them which was essentially inhuman,” he said.

 

When there’s a respiratory viral infection, it’s not the flu, for example, but bacterial pneumonia that might ultimately kill someone. So, during an epidemic or pandemic, there is supposed to be a stockpile of antibiotics to treat the pneumonia.

 

“In the UK they introduced new protocols that antibiotics were not to be given to those who were suffering from severe covid. People had ‘do not resuscitate’ orders imposed on them … The social isolation people had to suffer would have a crushing psychological effect on people’s ability to keep going, especially in an old people’s home. And so on and so forth. It’s those interventions that were causing the death ” Prof Neil said.

 

“A lot of this has actually come out publicly in the Scottish Covid Inquiry over the last year but hasn’t been publicised in the national press,” he said.

 

“Another one that needs special mention is the use of opioids to care for people with severe covid,” he said. “And ventilation … Ventilators in [ ] respiratory aid … had up to 90% fatality rate of people put on the ventilators … and alongside that were changes to the treatment regime that involved the administration of palliative care medicines in the form of opioids. Midazolam in the UK was heavily overprescribed during March [2020] … The dosage rates were so high that they don’t even conform to a palliative care regime – they were beyond that.”

Georgia biolab shelter-in-place order extended indefinitely as fire triggers unstoppable chemical reaction

 

A shelter in place order has been extended indefinitely after a fire at a chemical plant in Georgia sparked an unstoppable chemical reaction.

 

The order was issued for more than 90,000 residents of Rockdale County after the fire at BioLab in Conyers sent a massive plume of dark smoke high into the sky that could been seen from miles away.

 

The fire was extinguished on Sunday but officials say air quality surveys have detected chlorine in the air coming out of the lab.

 

BioLab manufactures pool and spa treatment products - including chlorine.

 

The Sunday afternoon fire led to about 17,000 evacuations after a sprinkler at the facility malfunctioned and sprayed water on a chemical, sparking an explosion.

H.R. McMaster: Biden-Harris Need To Step Up To Help Israel Against Iranian Terrorism

 

Retired Lt. General H.R. McMaster said during an interview over the weekend that the Biden-Harris administration needed to step up to help Israel dismantle Iranian terrorism in the Middle East.

 

McMaster made the remarks during a Sunday interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation” while discussing Israel’s military operation late last week that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

 

“There already is a war between Israel and Iran,” he said. “And it’s a war that Iran has been waging for four-plus decades. Nasrallah, who was there at the beginning of Hezbollah, who was there when they killed 241 Marines in Beirut and began a campaign against not only who Nasrallah called the cancerous boil of Israel, but the great Satan of the United States.”

 

“I think Israel is taking the right approach to escalate against an enemy who has been able to escalate really on their own terms with impunity, and I think increasingly the United States has to act like we know what the return address is in Iran,” he continued. “Now is the time to double down on the pressure on Iran, to dry up the cashflow available.”

 

He said that there was already a “military role” that the U.S. needed to be filling in pushing back on Iran in the form of both airstrikes and boots on the ground.

 

 

“All of this should be kind of on the table. And I think we should act like we know where those rockets are coming from,” he said. “The 150,000 rockets that Hezbollah has pointed at Israel. The 40,000 or so members of Iran’s proxy army in Syria. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Hamas in the West Bank, what remains of Hamas in Gaza, those were all trained, equipped, supplied by Iran to create this ring of fire around Israel and to destroy Israel and kill all the Jews.”

Biden-Harris admin supports China buying US land

 

The Biden-Harris administration released a statement on Tuesday opposing a bill that would ban Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials from buying U.S. land if they increase Chinese aggression towards Taiwan, violate Hong Kong’s autonomy, or commit human rights violations toward certain groups in China, such as the Uyghur Muslims.

 

In a White House press release, the Biden-Harris administration announced, “The Administration opposes H.R. 3334, the ‘STOP CCP Act,’ which would impose mandatory sanctions and visa restrictions on members of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party determined to have played a significant role in certain People’s Republic of China (PRC) policies regarding Hong Kong, Taiwan, and minority groups in China, among others.”

 

The sanctions proposed by the Stop CCP Act include blocking CCP officials from purchasing land in the United States and blocking CCP officials from obtaining visas and admission into the United States. However, the bill would enable the president to waive sanctions for up to 60 days to allow CCP officials into the country for national security reasons.

 

While the Biden-Harris administration said it had “deep concerns” regarding multiple PRC policies, it warned that the sanctions suggested by the Stop CCP Act would “cut off any channels of communication between our two governments and undermine the Administration’s efforts to build diplomatic consensus on China, thereby destabilizing US-PRC relations.”

One week after Israel began its US-backed rampage in Gaza last October, President Biden was asked by CBS News if fueling a Middle East conflict on top of the proxy war in Ukraine was “more than the United States can take on at the same time.”

As the first anniversary of Biden’s hegemonic démarche approaches next month, the US is playing the “essential” role that he envisioned. Since it began launching rockets at the Israeli-occupied Shebaa Farms on Oct. 8th and then expanded its targets to within Israel itself, Hezbollah has stressed that its goal is to pressure Israel into a permanent Gaza ceasefire. Just as Biden proclaims an “obligation” to fuel two regional conflicts, Hezbollah a group founded in response to Israel’s 1982 invasion of Lebanon proclaims the same duty to resist Israeli hegemony, which has killed tens of thousands of Lebanese in the last 42 years. Hezbollah’s intervention for Gaza, which displaced tens of thousands in Israel, has been limited in scale. Of more than 10,200 cross-border attacks in the last year, about 81 percent were carried out by Israel.

 

During this period, the Biden administration has adopted a strategy of pretending to pressure Israel all while offering it the weaponry and diplomatic cover to kill tens of thousands of people in Gaza and make it unlivable for survivors; expand its long-running terror and land theft in the West Bank; regularly bomb Syria; and now pursue its longstanding intent to destroy Hezbollah, the main force in the region that can significantly fight back.

20 rescued, 144 arrested in major child abuse operation across South America

 

An international operation targeting child sex offenders has led to 144 arrests and enabled the safeguarding of 20 victims across South America.

 

During Operation Orion International, 12 South American countries joined forces to combat the production, distribution and possession of online child sexual abuse and exploitation material, focusing particularly on victim identification and rescue.

 

As a result of the operation, undertaken with the coordination and support of INTERPOL, 18 direct abusers were caught and 111 people were charged with possession and distribution of abuse material. Seven individuals wanted internationally for child sex offenses, who were the subjects of INTERPOL Red Notices, were also arrested as part of the crackdown.

 

The arrested individuals, predominantly men, were aged between 14 and 86 and came from diverse backgrounds. Their occupations included: professor, graphic designer, security guard, mechanic, musician, journalist, psychologist and taxi driver.

 

Case studies: child victims safeguarded after years of abuse

 

In Argentina, local authorities had identified abuse material circulating on messaging applications. With the support of INTERPOL and its additional data, authorities were able to identify and safeguard a nine-year-old victim who had suffered at least six years of abuse.

 

In a separate case in Chile, police identified an offender sharing child sexual exploitation material in messaging groups. Following his arrest, investigators analysed the seized information and established that the same person had also produced child sexual abuse material at the arrest location. This made it possible to identify and safeguard a 14-year-old girl, the daughter of the perpetrator’s partner.

 

As part of Operation Orion International, participating countries were also asked to assess existing Red Notices for child sexual offenders believed to be living within their borders.

 

In one such case, Korean authorities had provided information about the manager of a website which shared child exploitation material. Thanks to the collaboration between Korea and Ecuador, with coordination from INTERPOL, the individual was apprehended.

Israel reportedly hacked into Beirut Airport's control tower and made threats to an Iranian plane which was about to land

 

Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport requested that an Iranian aircraft refrain from landing at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport or use the country’s airspace, following Israeli threats.

 

The statement was made after the Israeli army reportedly hacked the airport’s control tower on Saturday morning, before issuing threats that it would target the airplane with "force" if it landed, a source at the ministry told Reuters.

 

The ministry initially said it was "unclear" what was on the plane, and stressed that the priority is "people's lives". Minister Ali Hamieh later stated that the aircraft was "exclusively civilian", to the Turkish Anadolu agency.

 

The plane was identified as "Qasem Air" Flight No. QFZ9964, as it was approaching for landing, according to Israeli media.

Why does the US still control every penny of Iraqi oil revenues?

 

Washington has maintained control over Iraq’s oil revenues since its illegal 2003 invasion – a financial and economic subjugation that undermines Iraqi sovereignty and denies it access to its own national treasure.

 

In July, the Iraqi Central Bank halted all foreign transactions in Chinese Yuan, succumbing to intense pressure from the US Federal Reserve to do so. The shutdown followed a brief period during which Baghdad had allowed merchants to trade in Yuan, an initiative intended to mitigate excessive US restrictions on Iraq’s access to US dollars.

 

While this Yuan-based trade excluded Iraq’s oil exports, which remained in US dollars, Washington viewed it as a threat to its financial dominance over the Persian Gulf state. But how has the US managed to exert such total control over Iraqi financial policies?

 

The answer lies in 2003, with mechanisms established following the illegal US-led invasion of Iraq.

 

A legacy of ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom’

 

Since the signing of Executive Order 13303 (EO13303) by President George W Bush on 22 May 2003, all revenues from Iraq’s oil sales have been funneled directly into an account at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

 

EO13303, titled “Protection of the Development Fund for Iraq and Other Property in Which Iraq Has an Interest,” has been renewed annually by every US president, including Joe Biden in 2024. This executive order essentially places control over Iraq’s oil revenues under the discretion of the US President, leaving Baghdad with limited control over its resources and earnings.

 

The roots of Iraq’s financial dependence on the US stretch back to the 1990s. Following Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990, UN Security Council Resolution 661 imposed severe economic sanctions to isolate Iraq from international trade. These sanctions, exacerbated by former president Saddam Hussein’s refusal to comply with withdrawal demands, crippled the Iraqi economy.

 

Control over Iraq’s finances

 

UNSC Resolution 687, passed in 1991 after the Persian Gulf War, extended these sanctions while introducing the controversial “Oil for Food” program. Although it allowed Iraq to sell oil in exchange for humanitarian goods like food and medicine, the sanctions resulted in immense human suffering, with over one million Iraqis, half of them children, dying during this period. Then-US secretary of state Madeleine Albright infamously defended the sanctions in a 1996 interview, stating that the deaths were “worth the price.”

 

Following the invasion of Iraq, the US occupation of the country became a reality after the collapse of Saddam’s government. Faced with a fait accompli, the UN Security Council had to accept the new status quo.

 

According to International Humanitarian Law, occupation forces – in this case, the US and UK – become responsible for the well-being of the populations they occupy. So, UNSC Resolution 1483 was issued on 22 May 2003 to establish the US-led Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) as Iraq’s administrator and create the Development Fund for Iraq (DFI) to manage Iraqi oil revenues.

 

Note that Resolution 1483 did not mention the US Federal Reserve as the depositary of Iraqi funds, nor did it assign a location for the DFI headquarters or account. In fact, the resolution specifically states directed that the DFI should “be held by the Central Bank of Iraq.” It was the CPA, led by Paul Bremer, that decided unilaterally to house the account at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

 

This decision allowed the US government to maintain tight control over Iraq’s oil revenues. From that point until today, the Iraqi Ministry of Finance has had to submit requests for funds to the US Treasury, which then approves or denies these requests based on its own criteria.

 

This monthly transfer of US dollars – which are literally flown into Baghdad in pallets of hard cash – determines Iraq and its 40-million-population’s ability to pay for basic needs like salaries, food, and medicine.

Russia’s Aleksandr Gorbunov has arrived at the International Space Station aboard Elon Musk’s Crew Dragon spacecraft

 

Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov has embarked on a five-month mission, arriving at the International Space Station (ISS) aboard Elon Musk’s Crew Dragon spacecraft.He is the fifth Russian to fly aboard a SpaceX ferry ship.

 

The Crew-9 mission, the ninth operational commercial crew mission for NASA, was launched by a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida on Saturday. TheCrew Dragon spacecraft, which also carried US astronaut Nick Hague, reached its intended orbitand docked autonomously to the ISSon Sunday afternoon. NASA streamed live footage of the docking online.

 

Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, commented on the docking with a brief post on X: “Dragon has reached @Space_Station.”

 

Gorbunov, from Russia’s state space agency (Roscosmos), is on his first mission and will serve as a flight engineer.

 

Gorbunov and Hague will stay aboard the orbiting laboratory for five months. They have joined the space station’s Expedition 72 crew of Roscosmos cosmonauts Aleksandr Grebenkin, Aleksey Ovchinin, and Ivan Vagner, as well as NASA astronauts Michael Barratt, Matthew Dominick, Jeanette Epps, Don Pettit, Butch Wilmore, and Suni Williams.

Gorbunov and Haguewill return to Earth in February along with Wilmore and Williams, who have been stuck on the ISS since June. The two arrived for a weeklong test mission aboard a Boeing Starliner aircraft. However, the Starliner suffered technical issues and flew home empty in early September.

 

Crew-8 members Barratt, Dominick, Epps, and Grebenkin will depart the space station aboard the Crew Dragon Endeavour spacecraft in early October.

 

Roscosmos and NASA have a cross-flight program that is valid until at least 2025. The program, launched in 2022 and extended the following year, involves sending one American astronaut to the ISS as part of the crew of a Russian spacecraft, and one Russian cosmonaut as part of an American crew.

According to Roscosmos, Gorbunov is the 25th Russian cosmonaut to fly on an American ship, and the fifth to fly on a Crew Dragon.

Been looking at the parallels between the JFK assassination and the two attempts (that we know of) on Trump.

 

JFK was pissed at the CIA and wanted to get J. Edgar Hoover out of the FBI. Bobby and Jack were actively going after the Mafia. In other words, the people behind the scenes that controlled a lot of money and had a lot to lose were after the Kennedys.

 

Trump is not all that fond of the CIA, and has good reason to dump most of the management at the DOJ and the FBI. Don't think he has done anything to piss off the Mafia, except perhaps his law and order record and if the Mafia has their hooks into anything nasty crossing the border.

 

Still, he has pissed off the deep state, and is still drawing record crowds at his rallies. Lawfare has barely slowed him down, and actually helped him in the polls.

 

Assuming the steal is not big enough this time (no one assumed that Hillary was losing so bad, that their standard election stealing efforts were not near enough), Trump will need to have major SS protection from now to the end of his second term (likely longer, because unless Trump actually takes out all the deep state out, they are pissed and will take him out someday, just as a message to others who might want to follow their example).

 

Hope the Q team has actually learned the major vote stealing methods, and is ready to stop this (for real) this time.

MAN WHO ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED STUDENT WALKING HOME HELD

WITHOUT BAIL

BROCKTON – A Brockton man who allegedly sexually assaulted a female

walking home from school has been held pending the outcome of a dangerousness

hearing, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

Today, in Brockton District Court, Marckenson Beauge, 22, was arraigned on one

count each of Rape of a Child with Force, Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child Under

14, and Kidnapping of a Child. The Commonwealth moved for Beauge to be held without

bail pending the outcome of a dangerousness hearing, scheduled for Thursday, September

26.

On September 18, Brockton Police responded to the West Middle School for a

report of an indecent assault and battery on a child. The female student reported to a

school faculty member that they had been sexually assaulted while walking home from

school at approximately 3:30, the day before. The female victim was able to break free

from her attackers. She described the clothes her alleged assailant was wearing, and told

police that he was missing his front teeth, had messy hair, and was riding a blue bicycle

with white lettering and thick tires.

Brockton Police commenced an investigation, and through numerous interviews,

determined Beauge was a person of interest in the alleged attack. As a result, on Friday,

September 20, they sought and obtained a search warrant for 20 Cherry Street, where it is

believed Beauge resides. Beauge was not at home at the time, and police were told that he

was working at a fast-food restaurant in Easton, where he was taken into custody without

incident.

(Reuters) - U.S. utility firm PG&E Corp said on Monday it has cut power for over 9,000 customers in northern California as a precaution against heightened wildfire risks from high winds.

 

The company said it was monitoring weather conditions across its service territories in California as parts of the state are expected to experience gusty winds, high temperatures and low humidity levels.

 

PG&E initiated a "public safety power shutoff (PSPS)", cutting off power for homes and businesses across Sacramento Valley and surrounding foothills, according to a post on its website.

 

The company earlier said it expectsthe PSPS would impact over 12,000 customers in eleven counties and two tribal areas.

 

The Oakland, California-based company has been linked to major wildfires in the state, including the 2020 Zogg Fire and the 2021 Dixie Fire, which was the state's second-largest wildfire.

Congress orders probe into ‘intentional’ construction flaws in Navy vessels

A shipbuilder’s report earlier discovered “faulty welding” on several US submarines and aircraft carriers

 

US lawmakers have ordered a probe intoreports of substandard welding “knowingly made” on submarines and aircraft carriers, both under construction and in-service within the US Navy. In a statement released on Friday, the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) charged the Pentagon with investigating the matter and coming up with a plan for “how to protect” Navy vessels against further “tampering.”

 

The HASC’s move follows last week’s report byNewport News Shipbuilding, which said it discovered faulty welds on components of several in-service Navy vessels. The company is one of two nuclear shipyards in the US that construct Ford-class aircraft carriers, sections of Virginia-class attack submarines, and Columbia-class nuclear ballistic missile submarines.

 

According to USNI news,the shipyard also said it found that the flaws “may have been made intentionally,” and submitted its report to the Navy, the Department of Justice, and Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), the company that owns it and the country’s largest military shipbuilder.

The issue subsequently drew attention from Congress, with the HASC expressing concern as itinvolves vessels “critical” to national security.

 

“It is deeply concerning to learn that faulty welds may have been knowingly made to US Navy submarines and aircraft carriers… We must ensure that these vessels are protected against any bad actors seeking to put US national security or our service members at risk,” the committee said in its statement.

 

HII, which is currently inspecting Newport News’ findings, latersaid it discovered that “some welders knowingly circumvented certain welding procedures,” but claimed that they found “no indication of malicious intent.”(That’s bullshit, it’s malicious intent to endanger the crew and ship. They're saying well he didn't mean to do it, it wasn't by accident assholes.)

 

The Navy acknowledged that it was aware of the problem in a statement on Thursday, saying it was conducting “a thorough evaluation to determine the scope” of the ships affected. A Pentagon source later told USNI News that the number of in-serviceVirginia-class subs that have faulty welding is in the “low single digits,” but it may take some time to determine how many other vessels, both in-service and under construction, have the problem.

 

It is not clear when the initial faulty work was discovered, nor what penalties await the welders and the shipyard following the probe.

 

Newport News Shipbuilding hasalready faced investigations over welding procedures twice, in 2007 and 2009. One of the probes triggered an inspection that lasted nearly a decade, according to media reports.

BROCKTON – A Brockton man who allegedly sexually assaulted a female

walking home from school has been held pending the outcome of a dangerousness

hearing, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

Today, in Brockton District Court, Marckenson Beauge, 22, was arraigned on one

count each of Rape of a Child with Force, Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child Under

14, and Kidnapping of a Child. The Commonwealth moved for Beauge to be held without

bail pending the outcome of a dangerousness hearing, scheduled for Thursday, September

26.

On September 18, Brockton Police responded to the West Middle School for a

report of an indecent assault and battery on a child. The female student reported to a

school faculty member that they had been sexually assaulted while walking home from

school at approximately 3:30, the day before. The female victim was able to break free

from her attackers. She described the clothes her alleged assailant was wearing, and told

police that he was missing his front teeth, had messy hair, and was riding a blue bicycle

with white lettering and thick tires.

Brockton Police commenced an investigation, and through numerous interviews,

determined Beauge was a person of interest in the alleged attack. As a result, on Friday,

September 20, they sought and obtained a search warrant for 20 Cherry Street, where it is

believed Beauge resides. Beauge was not at home at the time, and police were told that he

was working at a fast-food restaurant in Easton, where he was taken into custody without

incident.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

 

None of the election-challenge systems (after the fact) were established with this type of overwhelming, unprecedented mail-in, harvesting, unmanned popup ballots boxes, etc., in mind. So the way to challenge the elections in various places were procedurally and jurisdictionally inadequate and most, if not all, were dismissed without ever getting to the merits. Then the refrain: "hundreds of election challenges were thrown out of court" was repeated early and often to discredit challenges that were never heard on the merits.

 

And, in a further grotesque intimidation tactic (targeting current and future brave patriots), lawyers and other knowledgeable citizens were charged with crimes (and/or licenses pulled or liberty and livelihoods lost - e.g., for questioning the validity of some of the previously unheard of 2020 election practices and/or irregularities in the counts and results.

 

Imagine what will be ushered in for the 2024 election - under the umbrella of the myriad "emergency powers" about to be announced in at least these newly disrupted states: Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia.

 

Will (they) or (we) be able to re-capture and count the otherwise potentially lost votes of 1000's in red and swing states (uninhabitable areas, mail and other comms expected to be disrupted "for months")?

 

Or will the new emergency powers be applied in such a way to suppress and/or engage in newly-emerging election fraud opportunities with little-to-no chance to challenge them in real time as they are crammed through shortly before the election (as many were during the 2020 Covid "emergency") and little-to-no way to challenge them procedurally after the fact, let alone doing so without risk to your professional license and livelihood? The evil side of the powers-that-be made that perfectly clear to everyone through their relentless pursuit of those medical and legal professionals and everyday patriots who dared to exercise their Constitutionally-protected right to speak up in the wake of the irregularities in the 2020 election and the irregularities in the government offices' (or color of government edicts') "advice," forced-upon-others "opinions" about Covid, its treatment, and the Vax "mandates" and other demonic pressures brought to bear "to get a needle in every arm" (e.g., if no Vax - it was proposed - then no hospital bed for any condition, no job, no entry to grocery stores, no commercial travel, etc., i.e., "vaccine passports" get you "in" - without them, you are cutoff and shunned).

 

So we'll have to watch and note - and respond accordingly (despite - if not because of - the gross intimidation of past persecutions) - to what (they) will do here, in the wake and disruption of yet another pre-election emergency of unprecedented proportions.

Putin launches regular conscription drive

Those drafted will not be involved in the Ukraine operation, according to the Russian military

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree launching the country’s annual autumn conscription drive.Some 133,000 military-age men are set to be enlisted between October 1 and December 31.

 

The terms of conscription service in Russia remain unchanged, with new draftees set to serve for a period of 12 months, deputy head of the Russian military’s main enlistment directorate, Vice Admiral Vladimir Tsymlansky told a media briefing on Monday. Service is mandatory in Russia for men aged between 18 and 30.

 

Roughly a third of the draftees will be sent to military educational facilities and training units, entering active duty only after obtaining a military occupational specialty, the official stated.The draftees will not be sent to participate in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Tsymlansky noted.

 

“I would like to emphasize that conscripted military personnel will not be called upon to participate in the tasks of the special military operation in the new regions,” Tsymlansky stated, referring to the formerly Ukrainian Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions.

 

Recruits will be informed through conventional paper enlistment notices delivered in person or through the mail, Tsymlansky noted. Last year, Russia conceived a system of digital enlistment notices that will be distributed through the government’s digital platform Gosuslugi.

 

The new system will undergo limited testing this year, with notices distributed through such means only in three regions, the head of the State Duma’s defense committee, Andrey Kartapolov, said last week.

 

While the system is expected to go fully online in 2025, some of its elements are already operational. For instance, draftees will now be able to lodge complaints and challenge decisions of enlistment offices through Gosuslugi.

Counterintuitive, maybe, but the flooding caused by Hurricane Helene may actually pose a fire hazard for electric cars. That news comes after officials in coastal Pinellas County, Florida, released footage of a Tesla that burst into flames while parked inside a home’s garage, TMZ reports. The clip shows the white vehicle sitting in about half a foot of saltwater before its underside appears to spontaneously set alight, submerging the entire space in smoke within a matter of seconds. The blaze was almost certainly caused by the car’s inner workings reacting to the saltwater, public safety experts have said, advising people returning home in the storm’s aftermath to avoid driving electric vehicles unless they’ve been carefully towed to a dealership for inspection first. It’s yet another thing to worry about after Hurricane Helene, with the recorded death toll surpassing 110 and millions of homes still without power Monday after the storm carved a 500-mile long path of destruction across the Southeast.

Putin just announced Russia’s own Monroe Doctrine 1/2

The President has cleared up any ambiguity about how Moscow will respond to any new threats in its backyard

 

On September 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced updates to the Foundations of State Policy of the Russian Federation in the Area of Nuclear Deterrence. The revised document implies that under certain conditions, Moscow may consider a proxy war against itself as justification for using nuclear weapons.

 

Salami tactics

Traditional nuclear deterrence doctrines date back to the Cold War and were developed with major world powers and military alliances in mind. The underlying assumption is that large states are unlikely to attack a nuclear power, since they risk facing a massive retaliatory strike.

 

However, the conflict in Ukraine has created a new and unprecedented reality: The West is waging war against Russia through a proxy state that shows little regard for its own self-preservation. At least under the grip of its current leadership.

 

Kiev actively attacks Russia’s historic territories. Incidents that have happened “for the first time since World War Two” are regularly reported in the news: e.g., a regional center being shelled in Russia, military facilities attacked in Volga Region or in the Kuban, or German-made tanks crossing into Kursk Region.

 

There have also been rumors of attacks on sites of Russia’s strategic nuclear forces. Such aggression is officially recognized as triggers for a nuclear response. Whether or not these rumors are true, thisbehavior is perfectly in line with the logic of Kiev and its Western sponsors. The goal is to use isolated drone strikes conducted by a proxy force to undermine Russia’s nuclear doctrine – or, speaking in IT terms, to hack it by means of a ‘zero-day exploit’.

 

After all, would Putin really start a nuclear war over one drone crashing near a strategic bomber base? What about two drones? Or ten? Or perhaps a couple of drones combined with a Western-made cruise missile?

 

This exemplifies classic ‘salami slicing tactics’: gradually pressuring the opponent, forcing them to change their strategic position without providing sufficient grounds for the opponent to deploy their primary (in Russia’s case – nuclear) forces.

 

Staying behind the lines

The only real red line between Russia and the West – and specifically, between Moscow and Washington – is something that would force one side to dramatically escalate the conflict.

 

Both the Kremlin and the White House are currently adhering to the so-called limited war strategy. Why? Because Russia can’t afford to shoot itself in the head because of Ukraine, and in a similar way, the West doesn’t want to blow itself up because of Russia. Any dramatic escalation could result in such an outcome, making the situation unpredictable even without the use of nuclear weapons.

 

Neither Russia nor the US desires an escalation in the conflict. Rather, both are aiming to keep it within its current boundaries. It’s like in the fable about the snake and the turtle: if one side makes a sudden move, the other is forced to respond, which could lead to dire consequences. For Russia, an escalation means mobilizing all resources, a situation that is fraught with peril for the nation. For the West, escalation means directly intervening, with no guarantee of success and a high risk of heavy losses or even a nuclear exchange.

 

For now, Russia has imposed a war of attrition on its adversary. Clearly, the Kremlin believes that this strategy has a better chance of working out

The US seems to understand this and wants to disrupt the Kremlin’s plan by increasing the costs but keeping everything within its present boundaries. This is why it resorts to so-called salami tactics.

Some experts believe that the ban on long-range missile strikes deep into Russian territory is the only real agreement that exists between Putin and [US President Joe] Biden. It’s not that such strikes would significantly change things, but this serves as a benchmark, a point of reference that is more or less understandable to both sides.

However, changes are about to happen in the White House. If the aforementioned agreements indeed exist, the Kremlin cannot be certain that the next administration will adhere to them. This is why Russia needed to send a clear signal to the West (and to the whole world) about the current situation and how Russia will respond to various actions taken by the West.

 

Firstly, Moscow will not consider using nuclear weapons as long as it maintains the military initiative. Thusthe likelihood of using nuclear weapons depends on its military success: if victory isn’t possible by conventional means, a nuclear strike becomes an option.

 

Secondly, because of this, Russia’s primary opponent (the US) cannot wage war against Russia directly and cannot arm the proxy state to such an extent as would change the course of the conflict. Therefore, the US must stay on the sidelines, watching as its proxy gradually loses the war. In this regard, nuclear deterrence is currently effective against the US and the West, at least until the administration in Washington changes. Putin’s new doctrine serves as a message and a warning to Biden’s successor.

 

Thirdly, the proxy state (Ukraine) is trying to find Russia’s weak spots and inflict a painful blow. As the situation on the front worsens for the Ukrainian forces, they may resort to more desperate measures, such as launching attacks on strategic missile deployment sites. These actions could potentially be effective. Will this provoke a nuclear response from Russia? Almost certainly not. The Kremlin is not considering a nuclear attack on Ukraine.

 

Why not? Because Ukraine does not pose a significant enough threat to justify starting a nuclear war. Russia can handle Ukraine through conventional means of warfare. And even though some incidents may be quite painful, they don’t change this reality.

 

Overall, Putin’s doctrine can be summarized as follows:

Fight weaker opponents with conventional forcesand use nuclear deterrence to prevent major powers from intervening in ways that could turn these weaker opponents into serious threats.

 

Or, put simply: Russia will ensure its security as it sees fit, using the nuclear shield to deter anyone who might try to interfere.

• Meanwhile, Ukraine serves as a vivid example of the fate that will befall any nation that wages war against Russia: it will be devastated, its industry and infrastructure will be destroyed, and it will suffer a demographic and economic collapse; as for the West, it will offer empty words of support, but in practice will push its proxy into the abyss.

• One of the outcomes of Russia’s military operation should be a growing awareness among neighboring countries that looking for a fight with Moscow is a bad idea, and that NATO won’t be able to protect them.

• Furthermore, the West must recognize that by inciting Russia’s neighbors to wage war against it, it risks prompting a nuclear war.

 

That is an approach James Monroe would certainly have approved of.

In an age of lawfare, New York Attorney General Letitia James has always embraced the total war option. Her very appeal has been her willingness to use any means against political opponents.

 

James first ran for her office by pledging to bag Donald Trump on something, anything. She did not specify the violation, only that she would deliver the ultimate trophy kill for Democratic voters. James follows the view of what Prussian General Carl von Clausewitz said about war, law is merely politics “by other means.”

 

Yet, the political success of James in weaponizing her office has been in stark contrast with her legal setbacks in courts.

 

James earlier sought to use her office to disband the National Rifle Association, the most powerful gun rights organization in the country, due to self-dealing and corruption of executives. James notably did not target liberal groups accused of similar violations. The ridiculous effort to disband the NRA collapsed in court.

 

It did not matter. James knew that such efforts were performative and that New York voters did not care if such attacks failed. She will continue to win the lawfare battles, even if she loses the war.

 

This week, two of James’s best-known campaigns were struggling in court.

Not only where the banks fully paid on the loans and made considerable profits, but they wanted to make additional loans to the Trump organization.

 

In appellate arguments this week, James’s office faced openly skeptical justices who raised the very arguments that some of us have made for years about the ludicrous fine imposed by Judge Arthur Engoron.

 

Justice David Friedman noted that this law “is supposed to protect the market and the consumers — I don’t see it here.”

 

His colleague Justice Peter Moulton told her office “The immense penalty in this case is troubling” and added, “How do you tether the amount that was assessed by [Engoron] to the harm that was caused here where the parties left these transactions happy?”

 

The answer, of course, is the case was never about markets. It was about politics. The fact that the banks were “happy” is immaterial. Happiness in New York is a political, not legal calculus. The justices did not rule this week, but an opinion could be issued within a month.

 

In the same week, James faced a stinging defeat in another popular cause. James had targeted pro-life organizations for spreading supposed “disinformation” in not just opposing the use of mifepristone (the abortion pill used in the majority of abortions in the United States), but in advocating the use of reversal procedures if mothers change their minds before taking the second drug in the treatment regimen.

 

Critics charge that, while there are some studies showing successful reversal cases, the treatment remains unproven and unapproved. It remains an intense debate.

 

James, however, wanted to end the debate. She targeted pregnancy centers and was then sued by two pro-life ministries, Summit Life Outreach Center and the Evergreen Association.

 

Judge John Sinatra Jr. blocked James‘s crackdown as a denial of free speech. Notably, these centers were not profiting by sharing this information or advocating such reversal treatment.

 

James merely declared that people advocating such reversal treatments are engaged in “spreading dangerous misinformation by advertising…without any medical and scientific proof.”

 

It is a familiar rationale on the left and discussed in my latest book, “The Indispensable Right: Free Speech in an Age of Rage.” It is the same rationale that led to the banning and blacklisting of experts during the pandemic for views that have now been vindicated on the efficacy of masks and other issues. They were silenced by those who declared their viewpoints as dangerously unproven or unapproved, but who were themselves wrong.

 

James claimed a right to crack down on views that she deemed unproven, even by those who were seeking only to disseminate information rather than sell products.

 

It did not seem to matter to her that, in the 2018 in NIFLA v. Becerra, the Supreme Court rejected the effort by California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (now the secretary of Health and Human Services) to require crisis pregnancy centers to refer abortions. The court refused to create an exception for requiring speech from licensed professionals.

 

After the effort failed to force doctors to disseminate pro-abortion information in California, James sought to prevent others from disseminating pro-life information in New York. The court ruled that, under the First Amendment, government officials cannot simply declare certain views as “disinformation” as a pretext to censor disfavored speech.

 

If there are harmful or fraudulent products or practices, the government has ample powers to target businesses and professionals involved with them. James, however, was seeking to silence those who advocate for a treatment that is unproven but not unlawful.

 

James’s legacy now includes an effort to disband a civil rights organization, deny free speech and secure confiscatory fines against her political opponents. Yet she is lionized by the media and politicians in an election that is billed as “saving democracy.”

 

In the end, James knows her audience, and it is not appellate judges. It does not matter to her if she is found to be violating the Constitution or abusing opponents. She has converted the New York legal system into a series of thrill-kills.

 

For some judges, however, the thrill may be gone

No Deal in Sight as Dockworker Union Blames Employers Over Stalled Contract Talks

The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) is set to initiate awidespread strike at all U.S. Atlantic and Gulf Coast ports, beginning at 12:01 am on Tuesday,as negotiations for a new Master Contract with port employers represented by the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) have stalled out.

 

The current six-year agreement, covering approximately 25,000 port workers employed in container and roll-on/roll-off operations, is set to expire at midnight tonight. The strike will impact 45,000 port workers across 36 ports on the East and Gulf coasts, responsible for handling over 40% of containerized goods entering the United States.

 

In a statement on Monday, the ILA accused the USMX of continuing “to block the path toward a settlement” by refusing the ILA’s demands. The union further alleged that the employers’ group seemed “intent on causing a strike at all ports from Maine to Texas.”

 

The ILA cites USMX’s refusal to meet demands for a “fair and decent contract” as the primary reason for the strike. In its latest statement, the ILA reiterated it criticism of ocean carriers represented by USMX, stating, “They want to make their billion-dollar profits at United States ports, and off the backs of American ILA longshore workers, and take those earnings out of this country and into the pockets of foreign conglomerates.”

 

The union also accused shippers of “gouging their customers,” pointing to a dramatic increase in container shipping costs. “They are now charging $30,000 for a full container, a whopping increase from $6,000 per container just a few weeks ago,” the ILA stated.

 

This potential work stoppage comes at a particularly challenging time for ocean supply chains, which have already faced significant disruptions in 2024 due to conflicts in the Red Sea, drought in the Panama Canal, and the Baltimore bridge collapse.

 

Despite the high stakes, the Biden administration has indicated that the president does not plan to invoke the Taft-Hartley Act, which allows presidential intervention in labor disputes that create a national emergency.

 

The Maritime Trades Department, AFL-CIO, on Monday expressed solidarity with the ILA, stating, “Rank-and-file ILA members have made many sacrifices, particularly in recent years, and they deserve a collective bargaining agreement that reflects their importance to our nation’s ports and to the U.S. economy.”

 

With tonight’s deadline looming, port’s are now preparing for an imminent shutdown with no apparent end in sight as both sides remain at odds over key issues like wages and automation.

Mind war, non linear war, is a highly developed form of conflict, with tested doctrines and a protean tactical repertoire.
