Inside the secret US military base hidden 100ft beneath Greenland’s surface.

President Donald Trump has spent his first weeks in office calling for the U.S. to buy Greenland while refusing to rule out the possibility of military force — even as officials declare the country isn’t for sale.

Trump claims the U.S. needs to own Greenland in order to address national security concerns — and it’s not the first time the country’s strategic importance has been the focus of the U.S. military.

More than six decades ago, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was hard at work on a project in Greenland: Camp Century.

The project itself, set in a military base with two miles of tunnels, wasn’t entirely classified. Journalists were invited to visit the area, and the army advertised it as a nuclear power base, National Geographic reports.

But hardly anyone knew the truth: Camp Century was also developing Project Iceworm, a network of complex tunnels and railway tracks that could house and transport some 600 nuclear missiles. These missiles could then be shot over the north pole toward the Soviet Union.

Now, new information on the mysterious base has come to light.

there are numerous conspiracy theories surrounding the death of singer Sam Cooke. Here's an overview of some of the most discussed theories:

Setup by Prostitutes and Pimps:

One theory suggests that Cooke was lured to the Hacienda Motel, a known place for prostitution, by Elisa Boyer, who was either a prostitute or someone involved in a setup to rob him. This is based on the fact that Boyer was arrested on prostitution charges shortly after Cooke's death and later convicted of second-degree murder in an unrelated case. The theory posits that Cooke was carrying a significant amount of cash that night, which was never recovered after his death.

Manager's Involvement:

Bertha Franklin, the motel manager who shot Cooke, claimed it was self-defense. However, some theories argue that Franklin might have been working with Boyer or others to rob Cooke. There's skepticism about Franklin's account because she used a .22 pistol to shoot Cooke, despite having a .32 registered in her name, and the bullet from the shooting went missing.

Allen Klein's Role:

Cooke’s manager, Allen Klein, became the owner of Cooke's record company after his death due to the absence of a will. Some conspiracy theories suggest that Klein might have been involved in Cooke's death to gain control over Cooke's music rights and profits. However, there's no concrete evidence linking Klein directly to the murder.

FBI Involvement:

Given Cooke's association with civil rights activists like Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali, and his fight against racial segregation in the music industry, some theories speculate FBI involvement or at least negligence in the investigation of his death. The cursory nature of the police investigation has fueled these claims, suggesting that Cooke might have been seen as a threat to the status quo.

Racial Conspiracy:

Baltic Sea Cable Incidents Pile Up

In the three months between November and January, three incidents of damage to Baltic Sea underwater cables have taken place, severing at least partly seven different telecommunication links that connect Baltic states like Sweden, Finland, Germany, Estonia and Latvia.

All in all, Statista's Katharina Buchholz has counted damage to 10 different Baltic underwater cables and three gas pipes, starting with the highly publicized rupture of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines back in 2022.

A report by The Washington Post citing anonymous officials said on January 19 that intelligence and other evidence pointed to negligence rather than malice in the case of the three incidents that took place in 2023 and 2024. Suspected in these are two Chinese-registered ships - both reportedly with Russian links - and one vessel believed to be part of Russia's so-called shadow fleet dodging sanctions by transporting oil. Since then, however, an additional incident - the third in just three months - took place, stoking suspicion of sabotage once more. Another Russian-crewed cargo liner was detained and searched by Norwegian authorities on January 31 near Tromso at the request of Latvia after the incident that took place five days earlier, but was cleared later. Sweden meanwhile detained another ship, the Bulgarian-operated Vezhen, and determined it had damaged the cable, if accidentally.

Doubts about the events being a coincidence are persistent, however, mostly due to the 2022 Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 incidents that have at this point almost certainly been deemed sabotage. The damage done on September 26, 2022, was as dramatic as it was symbolic when detonations ruptured the two gas pipelines connecting Russia and Germany seven months after the Russian invasion - amid Europe finding it near impossible to wean itself off Russian fossil fuel. However, Russia has not been zeroed in as the only likely perpetrator in the case, with some theories now also pointing to Ukraine.

Considering this background, it’s not a surprise that Norway's search of the Silver Dania wasn’t the only one in the context of ruptured Baltic undersea cables.

Denmark intercepted and boarded the Chinese Yi Peng 3, suspected to have caused cable damage in November, while Finland seized the Russian Eagle S that it identified as having caused cable and pipeline damage this past Christmas Day. It did not help suspicion that the last remaining ship implied in the damages, the Chinese Newnew Polar Bear, carried on into Russian waters after the incident that took place in 2023 and was escorted by a Russian state-owned ice breaker.

The way in which commercial vessels have been damaging pipelines and cables is different from the initial Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 ruptures, where traces of explosives were found. The ships have been slicing the cables and pipes by dragging their anchors - often for extended periods of time. While this has led some experts to believe that the vessels in question are poorly maintained and have poorly trained crews, others have said that they find it unlikely that the crews would not notice such an issue. While damage by anchors is not as extensive as by explosives, it is still costly and can disrupt communications, electricity and gas supply for the countries in question significantly until repairs can be carried out.

With uncertainty about accident or attack persisting in Europe, other cable cutting incidents have likewise raised suspicion, for example in Taiwan earlier this month. A governing body estimates that around 150 to 200 cable damage incidents happen per year around the world mostly from anchoring and fishing - which equates to around three cable repairs per week. While this makes the recent cluster of Baltic Sea cable incidents not impossible but still unlikely to occur, suspicion will continue amid ongoing tensions of Europe and other Western powers with China and Russia as well as the history of almost definite sabotage incidents in Baltic waters.

CDC Reports 'Unknown' Illness Outbreak on Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship

Nearly 100 people were sickened by an outbreak of an unknown gastrointestinal illness this week on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Radiance of the Seas, according to a report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC said on Feb. 5 that about 89 of the 2,164 passengers on the ship were affected by the outbreak, or about 4 percent of the passengers. Two out of 910 crew members reported symptoms, the agency said.

The primary symptoms, according to the CDC, are vomiting and diarrhea. The “causative agent” was listed as “unknown,” the agency also said.

The Radiance of the Seas trip started on Feb. 1 and is scheduled to end on Feb. 8, while the outbreak was first reported on Feb. 5.

Sick passengers and crew members were isolated from the rest of the individuals on the cruise ship, the CDC said. The ship also has stepped up “cleaning and disinfection procedures” and collected samples for testing to determine the nature of the outbreak, the agency said.

Officials with the CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program are now “remotely monitoring the situation, including review of the ship’s outbreak response and sanitation procedures,” it added.

While the cause of the outbreak wasn’t disclosed, the CDC noted that norovirus is generally the cause of outbreaks on cruise ships and that “finding the agent that caused an outbreak … can take time.”

“When an outbreak occurs, people whose symptoms met the case definition are asked to provide stool or vomitus samples. These samples are tested to determine the causative agent,” the CDC said.

Productivity tsar Danielle Wood ducks for cover on Israel promotion

Is the Productivity Commission in breach of international law by its support for Israel lobby Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce?

Chair of Australia’s Productivity Commission, Danielle Wood, has declined to respond to questions about her agency’s support for Israel lobby group Australia Israel Chamber of Commerce (AICC).

According to lawyers contacted by MWM, Ms Wood and the PC may be in breach of the Commission’s own policy guidelines which state “In the performance of its functions, the Commission must have regard to the need … for Australia to meeting its international obligations and commitments”.

Ms Wood, a respected Australian economist, is due to present before the AICC on February 13, 2025.

As reported by MWM last month, the AICC, has been funded by companies such as Elbit Systems whose weapons have been used in human rights abuses in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.

Further, the investigation found that AICC associate IACC had been involved in funding illegal settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

Legal opinion obtained by MWM questioned whether Mr Wood’s association with the AICC would “be publicly seen as supporting and or tacitly endorsing or otherwise ignoring the many egregious alleged violations of international law and Australia’s international legal obligations as well as the PC’s own legislative/statutory policy guidelines (namely subsection 8(1)(j) of the PC Act), and thus showing public support for, promoting and thereby enriching (via non-member ticket sales/ promoting membership purchases, and general notoriety as a powerful business lobby) for the AICC”.

Money raised by the AICC because of the Wood presentation “may well end up funding violations of international law whether directly or indirectly”.

The opinion cites Israeli companies involved in the “perpetration of war crimes, atrocities and what the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has declared to be a “plausible” genocide in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territories such as Elbit Systems.
