There is a disturbing report published on Michael Shellenberger’s Public Substack detailing how the U.S. intelligence community called upon foreign governments to target associates of Donald Trump before the 2016 election. The request to the “Five Eyes” agencies (the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) appears to have come from Obama’s CIA Director, John Brennan.

According to Shellenberger, Matt Taibbi and Alex Gutentag, foreign intelligence agencies were asked to conduct the surveillance, including “bumping” the associates — a term for making contact with or casually engaging a target to generate intelligence. These encounters may also have been used to generate intelligence reports used to support further intelligence efforts by the United States in the Russian investigation.

The journalists reported that Britain’s Government Communications Headquarters intelligence apparatus, or GCHQ, went ahead in contacting the Trump’s associates as early as March 2016.

Keep in mind that this was the same month that George Papadopoulos joined the Trump campaign as an adviser. It was also when Papadopoulos met a London-based professor, Josef Mifsud, who Papadopoulos was led to believe had “substantial connections to Russian government officials.”

On March 21, 2016, Trump identified Papadopoulos and Carter Page as members of his foreign policy team……If true, the question is the basis for such surveillance of U.S. citizens associated with the opposing political party and a presidential campaign.

The role of Brennan is intriguing. Brennan was the one who briefed President Barack Obama on Hillary Clinton’s alleged “plan” to tie then-candidate Donald Trump to Russia as “a means of distracting the public from her use of a private email server.”

It was also Brennan who later declared during the Trump Administration that a press conference with Vladimir Putin was “nothing short of treason.” He later said that he did not mean real treason when he said it was nothing short of treason.

Brennan also signed the infamous letter warning that the Hunter Biden laptop had all of the markings of Russian intelligence, a letter that he later admitted was “political.”

Now these sources are claiming that agents from the Five Eyes “were making contacts and bumping Trump people going back to March 2016.”

Former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith was sentenced to probation in 2021 after admitting that he falsified evidence to renew a wiretap against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

Shellenberger and Taibbi have a record of investigating in areas long avoided by other journalists, particularly in exposing the massive censorship system funded and coordinated by the government. There is much to learn about these allegations and their underlying support. If proven, it would appear that neither the Inspector General nor John Durham were given the full picture of the origins of the Russian investigation. Moreover, there are intriguing questions over a referenced binder that sources said contained much of this intelligence and analysis. That binder or binders allegedly disappeared from the CIA.

Once again, this is still the early reporting and we need to have more confirmation on these facts. However, Congress should be interested in whether the origins for the Russian investigation began with nudges from American intelligence in 2016 to the “Five Eyes.”

Mr. Musk appeared poised to influence British politics on behalf of Reform, a party with a populist platform that closely mirrors Mr. Trump’s. But Mr. Musk seemed to sour on Mr. Farage abruptly early this month, declaring on social media, “The Reform Party needs a new leader.”

The rift appeared to have been over Mr. Musk’s demand that a far-right agitator, Tommy Robinson, be released from prison, where he is being held for contempt of court. Mr. Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has multiple criminal convictions, including for assault and fraud, and a history of Islamophobic statements.

“I know a lot of Americans see him as a great champion of free speech, but I just don’t see him as suitable for our party,” Mr. Farage said. “And I’m not someone that budges very easily.”

But he cast that as a mere disagreement. “We’ve got very similar goals on some areas, slightly different emphases in others,” he said, noting that in earlier conversations, Mr. Musk had shared lessons from Mr. Trump’s winning campaign in swing states.

“There’s a heck of a lot we’ve learned from that we will implement over the next few years,” Mr. Farage said.

Beyond Mr. Musk’s deep pockets, Mr. Farage said he was considering ways to tap other Americans who have given to Mr. Trump. During his visits to Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, Mr. Farage said he had been approached by a “number of people” exclaiming: “We want to give you money! We want to give you money!”

He was careful to say that Reform U.K. would not accept money from U.S. citizens directly — only from those who have “active U.K. trading companies.” That could include the sizable and wealthy British expatriate community in the United States, which he said Reform plans to target.

The revelations are likely to trigger fresh concern among Britain’s Labour government and Conservative Party, which are already uneasy about Reform’s rapid rise from the fringe of national politics to a party snapping at the heels of those two dominant parties in the polls.

Reform has pledged to cut “wasteful” government spending, increase the military budget, abandon key climate targets and push Britain back toward oil and gas. And it wants to scrap diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. Mr. Farage, like Mr. Trump, has taken a hard line on immigration and has rallied against “woke” ideology.” Reform has promised to freeze immigration.

Mr. Farage was ebullient over Reform’s million-dollar gala on Tuesday night. “That sounds like peanuts to an American audience, but to a fairly new British political party, that’s a pretty good evening,” he said.

“The dinner was about raising money, but it’s also about extending our influence,” he added.

Prince Andrew Rocked by Another Scandal After He Thought ‘He’d Put the Epstein’ One ‘Behind Him’

A potential new FBI director has zeroed in on the Jeffrey Epstein case — and it could spell disaster for Prince Andrew.

Kash Patel, President Donald Trump’s pick to serve as FBI director, pledged to uncover and expose new details about notorious pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

During Patel’s appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee in Washington, D.C., on January 30, the controversial former federal prosecutor and national security official assured that if confirmed he’ll “do everything to make sure the American public knows the full weight of what happened” with Epstein, who died by suicide at 66 in a New York City jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

The politically charged comments quickly reverberated across the pond. Amid calls for a fresh FBI probe into Epstein’s behavior and his ties to potential accomplices, a new report claims the late criminal’s old friend Prince Andrew, 65, is afraid to ever return to the States.

“He is terrified that if he goes to America he could be arrested, face civil action or be subpoenaed,” a source told Britain’s The Sun on February 3. “He’ll never risk going to America again.” In 2019, months after the financier’s shocking death, the Duke of York gave a now-infamous interview to the BBC’s Newsnight program in which he addressed his friendship with Epstein, which began in the ’90s. Andrew also insisted he’d never met Virginia Guiffre, 41, who’s long claimed Epstein forced her to have sex with the royal in 2001 when she was 17.

Andrew has denied Giuffre’s claims. He’s implied that a photo of them taken in 2001 could be fake. But in 2022, the duke reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre for a reported $16 million, ending a civil sexual assault lawsuit she’d filed against him.

The move came two years after Andrew was forced to step down as a senior working royal and weeks after the British navy veteran’s late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, stripped him of his military affiliations and patronages.

The threat of an FBI probe isn’t the only reason Andrew’s faced renewed scrutiny in recent days. In 2019, he told Newsnight he’d cut ties with Epstein in December 2010. However new court docs seemingly reveal they were in contact longer than Andrew initially claimed: On January 31, emails disclosed in a legal filing made by Britain’s Financial Conduct Authority showed an email exchange between Epstein and “a member of the British royal family” believed to be Andrew. In February 2011, the royal allegedly wrote to Epstein, “Keep in close touch and we’ll play some more soon!!!!” The latest drama is in many ways par for the course for Andrew. “He thought he’d put the Epstein scandal behind him,” a source previously told In Touch, but once again “he’s back in the spotlight — in a very bad way.”

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has hired a top law firm to defend itself against lawsuits by residents who blame it for the spread of the Palisades Fire — especially as the Santa Ynez Reservoir was almost empty.

As Breitbart News noted, the 117-million-gallon reservoir was down for maintenance during last month’s fire, despite many warnings about dry conditions and large amounts of brush that would act as fuel to accelerate any wildfire.

Though the LADWP did take some preventative measures, such as cutting the grass on land it owns in residential areas, many residents fault it for the lack of water that prevented firefighters from responding adequately to the blaze.

Now, the Los Angeles Times reports, the LADWP has retained a top local law firm at nearly$2,000 per hourto defend itself against anticipated lawsuits in court.

As Breitbart News reported last month, several notable residents, including reality television stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, have filed suit against the LADWP, blaming it for the spread of the wildfire to their homes.

Thousands of homes were destroyed in the Palisades Fire, which scorched about 24,000 acres. On the east side of L.A. County, the Eaton fire burned through about 14,000 acres. There were shortages of water in both cases.

Congress in danger of losing relevancy as presidents work around it

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – By obstructing most legislation President Obama sends its way, Congress has weakened rather than exercised its power, says a Vanderbilt University political expert.

“It used to be that interest groups would go to Congress first,” said Bruce Oppenheimer, professor of political science at Vanderbilt University. “But increasingly, presidents are bringing groups into the White House, negotiating with them, getting everyone on board and then taking some sort of action, whether it’s executive action, changing regulations or other activity.”

NOT JUST OBAMA

Obama isn’t the first to do this. Modern presidents dating back to at least Ronald Reagan have yielded influence through strategies such as signing statements and executive orders, controlling the priorities of cabinet members or directing how rigidly various laws are enforced.

“On various occasions that clearly stretches the interpretation of what the legal authority of a president may be,” Oppenheimer said. “But to stop the president, Congress has to pass legislation to overturn it or go to court and try to stop it. Both of those are time consuming tasks, and may be very difficult to achieve.”

While each modern president has pushed the envelope, Obama has gone the furthest.

“I don’t think presidents necessarily want to use executive authority, but they see it as strategically what they should do if they can’t have a reliable partner in Congress who is willing to work with them,” Oppenheimer said.

Obama has gone around Congress as he tackles issues including gun control, AIDs education, civil rights, the economy and foreign policy.

Oppenheimer makes the observations in “It’s Hard to Get Mileage out of Congress,” a chapter in the upcoming book Congress and Policymaking in the 21st Century (Cambridge University Press), edited by Jeffery Jenkins and Eric Patashnik. It will be released this year.

UNCOOPERATIVE CONGRESS

Upon Obama’s election in 2008, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) publically stated his goal of denying Obama a second term by blocking any legislation the president endorsed. Although Obama did initially try to work with Congress, he has long since turned to executive orders and other methods. He has been upfront about the strategy, talking about it publically.

“For example, Obama decided his Justice Department would not go to court to defend the attacks on the Defense of Marriage Act,” Oppenheimer said. “A president can do that. He has the authority to decide he doesn’t want his attorney general doing that.”

THE DOWNSIDE

There are downsides to making changes without the approval of Congress, Oppenheimer said. Passing legislation bestows an aura of legitimacy. The next president may want to reverse Obama’s legacy and undo some of his administration’s work, which would be much harder to do if it were passed into law.

The trend is making the executive branch more powerful and sapping the strength of Congress, Oppenheimer said. Some scholars who keep watch on the government fear that the power of the executive branch could grow too much.

“People who are concerned about governing may believe that the president or the executive branch is getting too powerful,” he said. “It may be alright when your candidate is in office controlling the presidency, but you don’t like it a lot when the other side is in office.”

Also, some observers believe input from Congress can be helpful.

“When Congress is a reasonable partner in this process, sometimes it improves on the policy proposals from the executive branch and makes the legislation better,” Oppenheimer said.

Celeb Doc Files $750 Million Lawsuit Claiming L.A.’s Child Welfare Agency Falsified Evidence

Beverly Hills doctor Susan Spell has filed a new $750 million lawsuit against the county of Los Angeles and individual social workers as she continues the battle to regain custody of her children who were removed from her care in 2013 without a warrant or court order.

In the lawsuit, Spell claims that social workers for the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) falsified evidence and perjured testimony to justify removing Spell’s four children from her care and placing them with their father, who has a documented history of domestic violence.

As The Imprint reported last year, in March 2018, the county paid out a $150,000 settlement to Spell regarding these issues.

In this new lawsuit, Spell’s eldest son, Nicholas, now 18, joins her as a co-plaintiff. The two assert that the wrongful removal of the children from Spell’s care amounts to a violation of the Civil Rights Act and of their Fourteenth Amendment rights.

The suit — in which DCFS is referred to repeatedly as a “flank of the al Quada [sic] cell in the County of Los Angeles” — also alleges a violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), claiming that DCFS along with the county, the Superior Court, Family Court judges and county counsel collectively engaged in witness tampering, obstruction of justice, extortion and conspiracy to cover up these acts while carrying out the case against Spell.

Spell filed for divorce in July 2012 after her ex-husband, Brian Evans, was arrested for spousal abuse. An ugly custody battle between the two had been playing out a year — with family court ultimately ruling in Spell’s favor in July 2013 — before DCFS stepped in and placed the children with Evans in October 2013. Spell says that all four children were the product of a sperm donor, and that Evans is not their biological father.

During the custody battle, Evans had visitation rights. Several instances of abuse occurred during these visits, some even warranting trips to the emergency room, according to medical records. These records and a DCFS safety plan show social workers and a number of doctors reported that the children were in danger with Evans. But the children’s caseworkers closed each investigation against Evans, and court transcripts show that the caseworkers told family court officials no such abuse had ever been found.

One social worker who investigated allegations against Evans, Barbara Smith, found that the children weren’t safe with Evans, but pages of her notes were removed from the case file, according to text messages between Smith and Spell and a July 2019 affidavit from former DCFS employee Melinda Wallace.

In the affidavit reviewed by The Imprint, Wallace says the department “has a tendency, even if the parent is innocent, to make them appear guilty in some way, and that includes perjuring testimony, falsifying reports and fabricating evidence to justify taking the children.” She estimates that in 20 percent of cases, parents are “thoroughly innocent,” but DCFS refuses to “admit their mistake(s).”

Throughout subsequent years of back-and-forth decisions in dependency court and appeals by DCFS, Evans has retained custody of the children. He agreed to let the eldest child, now 18, move back in with Spell last year because the tension between he and the boy were so high, but the youngest three — 14-year-old twin girls and a 9-year-old boy — still live with him.

Following the 2018 $150,000 settlement payout, Spell told The Imprint she wasn’t done fighting for her kids to be returned to her.

“I think the settlement is a statement,” she said. “The mere fact that they’re willing to give $150,000 just for us not to take it to court implies that something happened — you did something wrong. I wish along with that, we could do something that makes them act right.”
