Alexandr Wang, co-founder of Scale AI and Meta’s new AI chief, warned that China is orchestrating a sophisticated, large-scale intelligence operation targeting the U.S., with the objective of achieving global technological dominance.

Wang, in an interview with Shawn Ryan, walked through China's strategy that combines state-driven data dominance with large-scale espionage wage by the country’s vast intelligence agency.

"They are way ahead on power and power generation. They're behind on chips, but catching up on chips. They are ahead of us on data. China has had, again since 2018, a large-scale operation to dominate on data. I think there were over 2 million people in China who were working inside data factories, basically as data labelers or annotators, basically creating data to fuel into those AI systems,” Wang told Ryan. "I think that number in the U.S., by comparison, is something like 100,000. They're outspending us 12 to 1 on data. They have over seven cities, full cities in China, that are dedicated data hubs, um, that are basically powering, you know, this broad approach to data dominance. And then on algorithms, I think they are on par with us because of large-scale espionage.”

Wang said it was “open secret” in the tech industry that Chinese intelligence is systematically stealing U.S. intellectual property and secrets, detailing how a former Google engineer, Leon Ding, allegedly copied critical AI chip designs into Apple Notes, printed them, and walked out to start a company in China, undetected for months.

Wang then explained how roughly one-sixth of Chinese students in the U.S. are on CCP-sponsored scholarships requiring them to report findings to handlers or risk losing funding. This mandate, he claims, fuels a massive effort to collect technological secrets from America’s top institutions.

“About a sixth of Chinese students, so, like, Chinese citizens who are students in America, are on scholarships sponsored by the CCP itself. And for those on these scholarships, they have to report back to a handler, basically, what are the things they find, what are the things they're learning, otherwise their scholarships get revoked,” the billionaire said. "There's an incredibly large-scale intelligence operation running against the US tech industry, which is just collecting all the information and secrets and technological secrets from our greatest research institutions, our universities, our AI labs.”

Vance Boelter, the suspect in today's shootings, was the CEO of an international NGO called the Red Lion Group. But I couldn't find any photographs or digital records of its work, only a generic website.

The Red Lion Group appears to have run out of funding a month or two ago, as that is when he started looking for executive-level roles.

Vance Boelter Posted on Social Media That He Was Red Lion Group CEO

Vance Boelter is the suspect in the shootings of Minnesota lawmakers, reports say.

Vance Boelter, named in multiple news reports as the accused shooter of Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses, wrote on social media that he was the CEO of a company called "Red Lion Group."

On LinkedIn, Boelter also touted his experience on the"Governor's Workforce Development Board."He was appointed to that non-partisan board by Gov. Tim Walz, and former Gov. Mark Dayton, per the New York Postand a press release on the state website. His Facebook page appears to be deleted, but his LinkedIn page is active.

Boelter listed the website for Red Lion Group as "www.redliongroupdrc.com."

The website is defunct, and the Wayback machine had no archived pages for it. Boelter recently posted on LinkedIn that he was looking for work.

Authorities have not named Boelter, 57, as the suspect publicly, but he was identified through sources to the Associated Press, a Duluth television station, and the New York Post.

Public records show only one Vance Boelter in the country, and meeting minutes with the state board refer to him as Dr. Vance Boelter; the LinkedIn page for Dr. Vance Boelter gives his location as the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and lists the work on the governor's workforce development board.

On LinkedIn, he wrote that he was CEO of Red Lion Group for more than three years, and previously a general manager at 7-Eleven. He also cited experience at Greencore, Delmonte Foods, Johnsonville Sausage, and Nestle Gerber. A state document listing the Workforce Development Board members refers to him as Dr. Vance Boelter, 7-Eleven.

Fox News reported that Boelter, 57, "is reportedly the CEO of Red Lion Group, based in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Praetorian Guard Security Services, according to Minnesota Africans United’s website."

That website repeats the LinkedIn bio and says that Boelter "currently lives in Minnesota with his wife Jenny and their children." Boelter's dad's obituary also names his wife as Jenny and says his dad was a public school teacher and coach.

​Walz called the shooting deaths of state Rep. and former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark in their own home a targeted political assassination. State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were also shot and wounded earlier in the morning of June 14, the governor said. All were members of the Democratic-Farm-Labor party. There is a massive manhunt for the suspect, who dressed as a police officer and had a manifesto, according to authorities.

President Donald Trump has ordered Immigration and Customs Enforcement to halt raids on illegal aliens in agriculture, hotels, and restaurants and to focus instead on just “criminals.”

The change comes after a post on Truth Social in which he complained that business owners in those industries were losing their workers.

“Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace…,” Trump wrote on Thursday.

On Saturday, NewsNation confirmed that ICE has been given new directives.

“Effective today, please hold on all work site enforcement investigations/operations on agriculture (including aquaculture and meat packing plants), restaurants, and operating hotels,” Tatum King, a senior ICE official, said in a message to regional leaders, obtained by the New York Times.

King admitted that this change will lead to significantly fewer deportations.

“We acknowledge that by taking this off the table, that we are eliminating a significant # of potential targets,” he wrote.

The report added, “The email explained that investigations involving ‘human trafficking, money laundering, drug smuggling into these industries are OK.’ But it said — crucially — that agents were not to make arrests of ‘noncriminal collaterals,’ a reference to people who are undocumented but who are not known to have committed any crime.”

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that they are following the president’s instructions.

“We will follow the president’s direction and continue to work to get the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens off of America’s streets,” DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said.

The Russian and US presidents spoke by phone on Saturday

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump spoke over the phone on Saturday, discussing the attacks between Iran and Israel and the Ukraine conflict, according to the Kremlin.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Department of Public Safety said the State Capitol building and grounds were evacuated and will remain closed Saturday afternoon after investigators identified a credible threat to state lawmakers planning to attend a No Kings protest that evening.

In a statement, the agency said it continues to work with law enforcement partners to address the threat ahead of the protest, scheduled to begin at 5 pm.

“DPS will collaborate with all local, state and federal law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of our citizens and state property, as well as to protect individuals exercising their constitutional rights to assemble and free speech,” the statement read.

Lawmakers and staffers also received a message Saturday from House Administration Chairman Charlie Geren, R-Fort Worth, about the threat, which referred to two Minnesota lawmakers being attacked overnight by a suspect dressed as a police officer.

Former Minnesota Speaker and State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed, and Sen. John Hoffman and his spouse are in critical condition. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said it was a “politically motivated assassination.”

“It seems to be an isolated incident. However, we’re always concerned about copycats and those who this attack might inspire,” Geren’s message said.

According to protest organizers, U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, and State Sen. Sarah Eckhardt, D-Austin, were among the lawmakers set to speak during the protest on Capitol grounds.

Other lawmakers, including Rep. Rhetta Bowers, D-Garland, issued statements, condemning the violent acts in Minnesota and the potential for more, saying “public service should never come at the cost of our safety or our lives.”

“As someone who has worked extensively on issues of homeland security and public safety, I have seen the growing threats targeting elected officials across our country,” Bowers added. “Today’s events are a tragic reminder that these threats are not abstract — they are real, they are escalating, and they strike at the very heart of our democracy.”

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said on social media “death threats are sadly a part of serving in public life today.”

“Members don’t talk about it often, but the state gets dozens of threats monthly,” Patrick continued. “Most turn out to be people who go too far in their emails or calls. They quickly recant when confronted claiming they didn’t really mean it, but all have to be taken seriously. There’s a difference between free speech complaints, which we welcome, and making death threats. The latter can be a crime.”

Saturday’s protest, “No Kings/Kick out the Clowns,” was planned as part of a nationwide action against recent actions by President Donald Trump and his administration. The Austin rally was organized by Hands Off Central TX.

KXAN reached out to protest organizers following reports of canceling the event for safety reasons. Sophia Mirto with Hands Off Central TX said, as of early afternoon, there were no plans to cancel the scheduled protest.
