The Center to Advance Security in America (CASA) is demanding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) review its contracts with Microsoft after the tech giant hired former Biden Justice Department official Lisa Monaco, according to a letter obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The letter warns that Monaco’s senior position poses a national security risk, as she is privy to sensitive information between Microsoft and the federal government.

 

“The risk that Monaco could again use access to information contained in Department contracts to turn against her political opponents, or even those Microsoft users within the government with whom she disagrees, is great given her past outrageous behavior,” CASA Director James Fitzpatrick stated to DHS. “Considering the various national security implications of Microsoft’s government contracts being overseen by Monaco, we ask you to immediately initiate a review of Microsoft’s contracts with the Department for potential termination.”

Judge Rips DOJ Prosecutors, Gives Comey Another Win in Federal Criminal Case

 

A magistrate judge on Wednesday ripped DOJ prosecutors and accused them of a slap dahs indictment against James Comey.

 

A grand jury in the Eastern District of Virginia indicted former FBI Director James Comey in September. He was indicted on two counts – false statements and obstruction of a congressional proceeding.

 

Comey’s false statements charge is related to his September 2020 Senate testimony on whether he authorized leaks to the media.

 

In 2020, James Comey lied when he told congressional investigators that he never gave anyone permission to anonymously leak information about Hillary Clinton’s email investigation to the media.

 

However, evidence presented by prosecutors proves Comey gave his friend-turned-lawyer Daniel Richman permission to leak to The New York Times – and cheered it on.

 

The Justice Department also has other materials related to Comey’s case “on a desk” at the FBI headquarters. Comey’s lawyers accused the DOJ of withholding evidence in violation of the Constitution.

 

Magistrate Judge William Fitzpatrick scolded prosecutors for their handling of the case and said they quickly moved to “indict first, investigate second.”

 

Fitzpatrick also ordered the Justice Department to turn over all grand jury materials to Comey’s attorneys by Thursday.

 

Comey’s attorneys are arguing that some of the documents used in the indictment may be privileged.

A federal judge on Wednesday criticized the Justice Department’s prosecution of former FBI Director James Comey, saying he was concerned by the department’s “highly unusual” handling of the case by moving to “indict first, investigate second.”

 

Magistrate Judge William Fitzpatrick in Alexandria, Virginia, also ordered the Justice Department to turn over all grand jury evidence and other materials to Comey’s legal team by close of business Thursday, underlining his apparent criticism of federal prosecutors’s actions in the case.

 

The evidence at issue Wednesday is troves of data that the Justice Department gathered between 2019 and 2020 in a past Justice Department investigation during the first Trump administration known as “Arctic Haze.”

 

The investigation, detailed in a memo declassified by the bureau earlier this year, sought to figure out how classified details on the FBI’s investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server made their way into a 2017 New York Times article, which looked at Comey’s decision-making while leading the politically fraught probe. No one was charged in the investigation.

 

One of Comey’s attorneys, Rebekah Donaleski, said there are four different warrants that were executed on Richman in the “Arctic Haze” investigation that she knows of and evidence returned from those seizures could be used as part of the Justice Department’s case against Comey. She said nobody on Comey’s legal team has been given access to that information yet, and they have not been able to screen that data, which includes hard drives and phone and email records, for potentially privileged information that could have been used in the indictment.

The former cellmate of infamous financier Jeffrey Epstein has claimed that Epstein said New York federal prosecutors had offered him a deal if Epstein agreed to implicate Donald Trump, then serving his first presidential term.

A conservative watchdog group is urging the Trump administration to take a closer look at its contracts with Microsoft as the Biden-era “Arctic Frost” probe continues to unravel.

 

The Center to Advance Security in America (CASA) is demanding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) review its contracts with Microsoft after the tech giant hired former Biden Justice Department official Lisa Monaco, according to a letter obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The letter warns that Monaco’s senior position poses a national security risk, as she is privy to sensitive information between Microsoft and the federal government.

 

“The risk that Monaco could again use access to information contained in Department contracts to turn against her political opponents, or even those Microsoft users within the government with whom she disagrees, is great given her past outrageous behavior,” CASA Director James Fitzpatrick stated to DHS.“Considering the various national security implications of Microsoft’s government contracts being overseen by Monaco, we ask you to immediately initiate a review of Microsoft’s contracts with the Department for potential termination.”

 

Appointed earlier this year as Microsoft’s president of global affairs, Monaco previously served as deputy attorney general under President Joe Biden. As a top prosecutor within the Biden administration, Monaco played an integral role in “Arctic Frost,” a wide-ranging investigation that Republicans contend used an election interference case as a pretense to essentially target the entire Republican Party.

 

“Given Lisa Monaco’s leadership role in weaponizing the Biden Department of Justice against its political enemies, as evidenced in the recently released documents detailing ‘Arctic Frost’,it is wholly inappropriate and a risk to national security for Monaco to have any role whatsoever in the oversight of DHS contracts at Microsoft,” Fitzpatrick said in a statement provided to the DCNF.

“Monaco does not have a security clearance, cannot enter federal property, and is unfit for this role,” Fitzpatrick continued. “We agree with President Trump that Monaco needs to be fired and hope DHS will initiate an immediate investigation into these contracts.”

Spokespeople for Microsoft and DHS did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the DCNF.

 

The House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday stated that the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) “Arctic Frost” investigation potentially targeted over 150 Republican officials and allies, including Trump White House adviser Steve Bannon, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and others. Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley released nearly 200 subpoenas on Wednesday issued by former special counsel Jack Smith’s team, targeting at least 430 GOP entities and individuals.

 

Smith issued the subpoenas as part of his 2020 election interference case against President Donald Trump, which was dropped along with the classified documents case following Trump’s 2024 presidential election victory.

 

“Arctic Frost was the vehicle by which partisan FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors could improperly investigate the entire Republican political apparatus,” Grassley, who obtained the subpoenas from a whistleblower, said during a Wednesday press conference.

Monaco — who served as deputy attorney general from April 2021 through January 2025 — aided in the oversight, coordination and execution of the “unprecedented weaponization” of the Justice Department against Trump and his supporters, according to CASA’s letter. The former Biden prosecutor reportedly participated in the opening of the “Arctic Frost” investigation, recommending Garland’s approval and even adding her signature to a document authorizing the sweeping probe on Apr. 2, 2022.CASA’s demands only add more pressure against Microsoft, which has faced calls from the highest office to boot Monaco.

 

The president in March rescinded Monaco’s security clearance, stripping her of access to classified information and unescorted access to secure U.S. government facilities. Trump further demanded in September that the tech giant fire Monaco, framing her as “corrupt” and a “menace” to national security.

 

•“Monaco has been shockingly hired as the President of Global Affairs for Microsoft, in a very senior role with access to Highly Sensitive Information,” the president said in a Truth Social post.“Monaco’s having that kind of access is unacceptable, and cannot be allowed to stand. She is a menace to U.S. National Security, especially given the major contracts that Microsoft has with the United States Government.”

The Volt Typhoon advanced persistent threat (APT) group maintained access to a Massachusetts power utility's OT network for almost a year, highlighting critical infrastructure vulnerabilities.

An Energy Grid Cyberattack on US has exposed vulnerabilities within the US power grid. Security researchers at Dragos uncovered a prolonged cyber intrusion by the Volt Typhoon advanced persistent threat (APT) group, a threat actor linked to China.

 

The intrusion targeted Littleton Electric Light and Water Departments (LELWD), a small public power utility in Massachusetts. Volt Typhoon maintained unauthorized access to LELWD’s operational technology (OT) network for nearly a year, from February to November 2024.

 

“One of the biggest challenges with cybersecurity in critical infrastructure is the long lifespan of the devices. Something that was designed and tested to the best practices available when it was released can easily become vulnerable to attacks using more sophisticated attacks later in its lifecycle.”

 

Tim Mackey, head of software supply chain risk strategy at Black Duck, warned

Nathaniel Jones, vice president of threat research at Darktrace, added that the impact on Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) is a “continued and growing concern with the applications of AI-based capabilities for both offensive and defensive teams.”

 

The targeting of CNI entities suggests a strategic goal beyond simple data theft. Donovan Tindill, director of OT cybersecurity at DeNexus, noted that exfiltrating OT data allows attackers to gain geopolitical leverage:

 

Understand system configurations and operations.

Steal intellectual property (e.g., manufacturing techniques).

Identify supply chain relationships for potential disruption.

Map the electrical grid’s structure and criticality.

Use data for ransom or extortion.

Manipulate OT systems for specific objectives.

Dragos’ investigation revealed Volt Typhoon’s tactics, including Server Message Block (SMB) traversal and Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) lateral movement. LELWD successfully contained the threat and reconfigured its network to prevent further exploitation. Importantly, no customer-sensitive data was compromised during the US Grid Cyberattack in Massachusetts.

 

Agnidipta Sarkar, vice president of CISO advisory at ColorTokens, emphasized the need for a proactive approach.

 

“Attack sophistication is on the rise, and OT/ICS organizations shut down when faced with a cyber-attack. Unfortunately, cyber OT leadership is focusing on stopping attacks instead of stopping the proliferation of attacks.”

 

The attackers aimed to exfiltrate data related to OT operating procedures and the spatial layout of the energy grid.

A geomagnetic storm surprised forecasters overnight as material from recent solar eruptions arrived earlier than expected, briefly reaching strong (G3) levels.

Now, NOAA has a G3 geomagnetic storm watch in effect as Earth braces for further impacts from multiple coronal mass ejections (CMEs) launched in quick succession from sunspot region AR4274.

 

The overnight storm was likely triggered by a glancing CME arrival that combined with lingering effects from a high-speed solar wind stream, according to NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC).

The result was a strong burst of auroral activity, with sightings reported across Europe, Canada and the northern U.S.

 

But more solar storms are still on the way, saving the biggest until last.

The M7.4 solar flare that erupted on Nov. 5 also released a CME traveling between 1,100 and 1,400 km/s (around 2.5–3.1 million mph) and is expected to reach Earth later on Nov. 6 or early Nov. 7 (UTC), according to NOAA's SWPC.

This incoming CME, combined with a fast solar wind stream from a nearby coronal hole, could trigger another round of strong geomagnetic storming over the next 24 to 48 hours.

 

What does this mean?

A strong (G3) geomagnetic storm indicates that Earth's magnetic field is heavily disturbed by solar activity.

These storms can cause intermittent satellite navigation issues and high-frequency radio disruptions, as well as voltage corrections in power systems, particularly at high latitudes.

Strong geomagnetic storms can also spark bright, dynamic auroras, sometimes much farther into mid-latitudes than normal. If you're located in Canada, northern Europe and the northern U.S., make sure you keep your eyes on the skies tonight, as we could be in for a treat.

 

Space weather physicist Tamitha Skov described the current forecast as "an aurora photographer's dream starting now and lasting at least through the weekend," adding that G3 to G4 storm levels are possible by Friday as multiple CMEs interact with Earth's magnetic field.

No Clear Cometary Tail in Post-Perihelion Images of 3I/ATLAS

On November 5, 2025, two new images of the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS were released.

They show a compact source of light without a clear cometary tail. The coma is not very different in morphology than its appearance in the Hubble Space Telescope on July 21, 2025 (accessible here).

 

This is surprising in view of NASA’s JPL report here of a non-gravitational acceleration — normalized at a heliocentric value of 1 au:

  1. A radial acceleration away from the Sun of 1.1x10^{-6} au per day squared.

  2. A transverse acceleration relative to the Sun’s direction of 3.7x10^{-7} au per day squared.

 

Based on momentum conservation (as discussed here), I derived here that the mass fraction lost during the perihelion passage of 3I/ATLAS is larger than 13%.

For a typical comet, this should have resulted in a massive coma with dust and gas that would have been pushed by the solar radiation pressure and the solar wind to the shape of a typical cometary tail pointing away from the Sun.

No such tail is visible in the new images from November 5, 2025.

 

In comparison, I include below an image of the solar system’s comet Lemmon, taken by one of the telescopes that observed 3I/ATLAS two days ago. Lemmon features a clear cometary tail pointing away from the Sun, as expected.

 

The anomalies displayed so far by 3I/ATLAS include:

  1. Its retrograde trajectory is aligned to within 5 degrees with the ecliptic plane of the planets around the Sun, with a likelihood of 0.2% (see here).

  2. During July and August 2025, it displayed a sunward jet (anti-tail) that is not an optical illusion from geometric perspective, unlike familiar comets (see here).

  3. Its nucleus is about a million times more massive than 1I/`Oumuamua and a thousand times more massive than 2I/Borisov, while moving faster than both, altogether with a likelihood of less than 0.1% (see here and here).

  4. Its arrival time was fine-tuned to bring it within tens of millions of kilometers from Mars, Venus and Jupiter and be unobservable from Earth at perihelion, with a likelihood of 0.005% (see here).

  5. Its gas plume contains much more nickel than iron (as found in industrially-produced nickel alloys) and a nickel to cyanide ratio that is orders of magnitude larger than that of all known comets, including 2I/Borisov, with a likelihood below 1% (see here).

  6. Its gas plume contains only 4% water by mass, a primary constituent of familiar comets (see here).

  7. It shows extreme negative polarization, unprecedented for all known comets, including 2I/Borisov, with a likelihood below 1% (see here).

  8. It arrived from a direction coincident with the radio “Wow! Signal” to within 9 degrees, with a likelihood of 0.6% (see here).

  9. Near perihelion, it brightened faster than any known comet and was bluer than the Sun (see here).

  10. It exhibits non-gravitational acceleration which requires massive evaporation of at least 13%of its mass (as calculated here), but preliminary post-perihelion images do not show evidence for it so far.

Loeb stated that, under that premise, astronomers ought to quickly locate 'of order five billion tons of gas around it' when it returns to view.

He then stated that if this expected gas cloud is not found, 'there must have been some other means of propulsion that gave it that acceleration'.

 

Characterising the issue as 'sort of like going on a blind date and wondering who is on the other side', he pressed for scientific openness.

It is worth noting that Loeb does not claim the object is definitively artificial, but places the probability at around 40% pending further observation.

'I would wait a few more weeks and either revise my ranking down to zero or to ten', he said.

Expected to disintegrate during its close encounter with the Sun, the comet has instead survived and transformed into a glowing golden ribbon, dazzling scientists and skywatchers alike, as per a report by Live Science.

The sighting adds a remarkable twist to an already eventful year for space enthusiasts, even as ongoing disruptions like American Airlines flights cancelled continue to dominate Earth-bound headlines.

 

‘Other ATLAS’ Survives Its Fiery Journey

Discovered in May 2025 by astronomers at the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS), an observatory network based in Hawaii, Chile, and South Africa, C/2025 K1 was initially overlooked.

Interest in the comet grew after images captured by astrophotographer Dan Bartlett revealed the celestial body’s dramatic transformation.

 

On October 8, the comet reached its perihelion, or closest approach to the Sun, coming within 50 million kilometers (around 31 million miles).

Many astronomers feared this would be its final voyage due to the extreme gravitational forces at that distance.

However, new images taken on October 29, coinciding with 3I/ATLAS’s own perihelion, show that C/2025 K1 not only survived but now displays a rare golden hue, as per a report by Live Science.

“This comet was not supposed to survive its Oct. 8 perihelion,” Bartlett told Spaceweather.com. “But it did survive, and now it is displaying a red-brown-golden color rarely seen in comets.”

 

The Science Behind the Golden Glow

Typically, comets appear white because they reflect sunlight across all visible wavelengths. Occasionally, they turn green or blue, depending on their chemical composition, often due to the presence of molecules such as dicarbon, carbon monoxide, or cyanide.

However, astronomer David Schleicher from the Lowell Observatory in Arizona noted that C/2025 K1 is unusually depleted in carbon-bearing molecules. “Only two other known comets have shown such a low level of carbon compounds,” Schleicher wrote in a recent research note.

Experts suggest that this lack of carbon molecules may have contributed to the comet’s distinctive golden coloration. Others speculate that its recent solar flyby or a low gas-to-dust ratio could have altered how sunlight interacts with its coma, the glowing halo of gas and dust surrounding the nucleus.

 

Visibility: How to Spot the ‘Other ATLAS’

Though too faint for the naked eye, both C/2025 K1 (ATLAS) and 3I/ATLAS can be observed using moderate telescopes or high-quality stargazing binoculars.

According to Spaceweather.com, the golden comet is currently visible between the constellations Virgo and Leo, best seen shortly before sunrise.

 

It is expected to reach its closest point to Earth on November 25, maintaining visibility until early December. The comet currently has a magnitude of 9, similar to 3I/ATLAS, which also brightened unexpectedly following its solar encounter.

For amateur astronomers, the next few weeks offer a rare opportunity to witness two ATLAS comets, one interstellar and the other solar, lighting up the dawn sky in contrasting hues.

He was accused of attempting to meet with an underage person through online platforms. The charges against him include luring children with the use of technology and the intent to engage in sex.

His attorney argues there have been no reported incidents since he posted bond and was released last month. He also said he willingly took a polygraph test and passed it.

 

The judge ordered Alexandrovich not to have contact with any minors. He’s due back in court Oct. 6.

 

On Aug. 6, police under a decoy account came in contact with someone, later identified as Alexandrovich, and the conversation turned sexual. According to an arrest report, Alexandrovich talked about bringing a condom and taking the decoy to a Las Vegas Strip show. The suspect said they would arrive in an Uber.

 

Task force officers later contacted Alexandrovich at the meeting location, and he was taken into custody at the Henderson Police Department, the report said.

 

In an interview with the suspect documented in the arrest report, he told police he was visiting Las Vegas for the Black Hat conference, and he had worked for the Israeli government for the past 14 years. He said he’s been in the United States for the past three months since a cryptocurrency event in New York City.

 

Alexandrovich claimed he thought the girl he was speaking to was 18, according to the report, as “that was the age listed on the Pure application.” He claimed the girl on the phone was “pushing” him to bring a condom to the meeting location, the report said.

HIJAB BILL

A BILL

To advance cultural cohesion through optional headwear standardization, and for other purposes.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

 

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.This Act may be cited as the “Hijab Integration and Jazz Hands Act” or “HIJAH Act.”

 

SECTION 2. FINDINGS.Congress finds that—

(1) hair is a known vector for split-end propaganda;

(2) hijabs reduce shampoo industry lobbying by 37%;

(3) aerodynamic headscarves improve fuel efficiency for cyclists.

 

SECTION 3. MANDATORY HIJAB PROTOCOL.(a) In General.—Every person (regardless of gender, because fairness) within U.S. jurisdiction shall, in federally funded spaces, don a hijab compliant with Standard HIJAB-2026 (pins sold separately).

(b) Exceptions.—

(1) Astronauts during EVA—helmets count as “cosmic hijab.”

(2) Competitive eaters at sanctioned hot-dog events (grease stains void warranty).

(3) Anyone named “Karen” between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM on weekdays—manager exemption.

 

SECTION 4. ENFORCEMENT.(a) Hijab Harmony Squad.—The Department of the Interior shall deploy “Scarf Sentinels” with complimentary bobby-pin kits.

(b) Penalties.—

(1) First offense: 2-hour workshop “Pins & Needles: The Art of Not Stabbing Yourself.”

(2) Second offense: $250 fine or donation of 12 hijab-friendly hair ties.

(3) Third offense: mandatory TikTok dance tutorial in full regalia.

 

SECTION 5. FUNDING.There is authorized to be appropriated $900 million for hijab R&D, including a line of LED-lit styles for nighttime visibility.

 

SECTION 6. SEVERABILITY.If any provision is struck down, the rest shall be upheld with matching scrunchies.

 

SECTION 7. EFFECTIVE DATE.This Act takes effect on the next Blue Moon.
