The Decay of our Quality of Life No Longer Aligns with the Narrative

It's not just how much money you have, it's whether you still have access to everything of immeasurable value that's destroyed in being monetized.

I've set aside our standard of living in favor of our quality of life because standard of living is so easily gamed with financial statistics. You know the drill: as life becomes increasingly unaffordable and precarious, we're inundated with statistics purporting to back up the claim that life is getting better, every day, in every way, because Progress is, well, progressing, and AI is soon going to make everything better in ways we can't even imagine.

This narrative is straight out a pulp science-fiction story circa 1956: there will soon be orbiting data centers, a base on the moon, it will be fantastic Progress, with a capital P.

That the quality of our lives is in freefall here on Earth and orbiting data centers and a base on the moon will do nothing to change that trajectory is both obvious and taboo, taboo because it undermines the happy-story narrative that technological Progress of any kind will generate wonderful things for everyone if we just let it run wild.

Meanwhile, a truly astounding number of Americans want to move from the US to somewhere with a higher quality of life: more affordable, safer, less precarious, less manic, less divisive. Americans Are Leaving the U.S. in Record Numbers More citizens are replanting overseas, drawn by a quality of life made easily affordable by the US's enviable salaries. (WSJ.com)

The following has made for quite the headline, as a retired elite US Air Force pilot is in very hot water and faces US intelligence and military questioning: "A former US Air Force fighter pilot with more than two decades of experience with nuclear delivery systems and aircraft, including advanced F-35 stealth jets, has been arrested and charged with conspiring to help the Chinese military," according to CNN.

65-year old Gerald Eddie Brown Jr. was arrested in Jeffersonville, Indiana, on Wednesday after one or more lengthy recent trips to China where it's believed he not only briefed officials from China's defense establishment, but provided training for Chinese PLA military pilots.

MONROE COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) - According to court documents, three women in Monroe County have beenindicted for voter fraud in the Aug 26, 2025, Frisco City municipal election.

Sixty-seven -year-oldSharon Crayton Denson, 46-year-old Samantha Trashawn Kyles, and 59-year-old Sarah Crayton Bennett are accused of falsifying and submitting official voting documents to election officials. Between the three of them, they allegedly tampered with ballots for 20 people.==

Court documents reveal Denson is charged withsix counts of unlawful use of absentee ballots and six counts of submitting false ballot applications. She’s accused of filling out absentee ballots forseven people. Her bail is set at $36,000.

Kyles is charged with four counts of unlawful use of absentee ballots and three counts of submitting false ballot applications. She is accused of altering ballots forfour people. She is being held on $21,000 bail.

As for Bennett, court records showshe is facing nine counts of unlawful use of absentee ballots and nine counts of submitting false ballotapplications afterfilling out ballots for nine people. Her bond is set at $54,000.

All three are currently held at the Monroe County Jail.

The Alabama Attorney General’s Office is handling the case.

Of course that’s a piece of advice that Dymond Osbourne, who was arrested this past Monday, could have used prior to getting arrested for throwing a cinder block through the back window of someone’s vehicle.

Now, while her reasoning for doing that is still a mystery, it did earn her a courtesy ride to Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge where she got to meet some of our incredible staff who assisted in booking her reservation.

While she was being booked in and changing into her exclusive resort attire, she told our Corrections Staff that she actually had a bag of cocaine in her jail purse. (Inside her gross body)

In addition, Dymond admitted that even though she was handcuffed behind her back while being transported, she was able to maneuver her hands enough to eat some additional cocaine that she had concealed inside her pants.

A subsequent search revealed thatshe had approximately 6 grams of cocaine tucked away in her…well let’s just call it “her personal place.”

So with that, Dymond not only got charged with criminal mischief for throwing the cinder block, but also Introduction Of A Controlled Substance Into A Detention Facility, Possession Of A Controlled Substance, and Tampering With Evidence.

I’ve heard of packing a carry on when traveling, but this takes that statement to a whole new level!

Police near Atlanta kindly asked parents Wednesday to double-check lunches they pack for their children after one tyke came to school with a martini to wash down a midday snack.

The South Fulton Police Department released a picture of what, at a quick glance, looked like a normal school lunch.

But on closer examination, the aluminum can wasn't juice, soda or any other non-intoxicating beverage. It was a can of lemon martini made with "vodka, triple sec and lemon juice," according to its label.

“That is NOT Capri Sun. That is NOT Apple Juice,” police said in a statement about the youngster's one-martini lunch. “That is a whole ‘Parent had a long night’ starter pack.”

The beverage, made by San Diego-based Cutwater, is 11% alcohol, or about twice the ABV of most beers.

"Check the lunchbox before the Fulton County Schools Police resource officers gotta do inventory at recess," South Fulton police added.

A Cutwater representative could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday.

Bayer acquired Monsanto in 2018 for $66 billion. US Representative Thomas Massie said that our entire country is under siege by Bayer, a German company that spent over $9 million lobbying the executive and legislative /congressional branches in order to gain immunity from lawsuits alleging Roundup Ready herbicide is toxic and causes cancer. He said that the Constitution guarantees people a trial if they have been harmed. He added that Attorney General Pam Bondi and Trump’s chief of staff, Susie Wiles, worked for a lobby firm, Ballard Partners, that registered to lobby for Bayer in December 2024. Ballard Partners contributed $50 million to Trump’s campaign in 2024.

Massie said that Trump’s recent executive order declaring that the production of the chemical glyphosate from Bayer is a ‘national defense priority’ was issued for the purpose of protecting the company from any liability. The EO contains the false claim that agricultural productivity would suffer without glyphosate.

Bayer/ Monsanto contends that the EPA has reviewed glyphosate for decades and reached the same conclusion “again and again” that Roundup does not cause cancer. The company further argued that even if a state jury wants a cancer warning, federal law bars Monsanto from unilaterally adding it. If Monsanto wins on preemption, the impact could be sweeping: whenever the EPA has approves a pesticide label, it would effectively elevate a federal agency’s risk-determination above the authority of state courts and juries.
