New Member Of Trump's Iran Negotiating Team Comes From FDD Think Tank

Amid stalled peace talks and a US blockade on Iranian ports, the Trump administration has added a new member to its negotiating team who comes from the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, a notoriously hawkish think tank that has been lobbying for aggressive action against the Islamic Republic for many years.

Nick Stewart, the head of the FDD's lobbying arm, has joined the office of US envoy Steve Witkoff, journalist Alex Marquardt first reported on his Substack on Friday.

The White House confirmed the appointment to Marquardt, calling Stewart a "sharp, seasoned policy expert who is a valuable asset to Special Envoy Steve Witkoff’s talented team."

Stewart worked in the State Department during the first Trump administration under then-US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook, who oversaw the increasing economic sanctions regime following the US withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018, known as the Iran nuclear deal.

"Hiring a FDD staffer onto your team strongly suggests that reaching a diplomatic deal is not Trump's objective," Trita Parsi, an Iran expert who works as the executive vice president of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, wrote on X in response to Stewart’s appointment.

However, White House spokesperson Olivia Wales confirmed later of Stewart:

“He brings a wealth of leadership and Iran policy experience to the role - from serving at the Department of State in the first Trump Administration and on Capitol Hill - and is a trusted voice as Special Envoy Witkoff works in lockstep with President Trump and his entire national security team to make a deal that is good for the United States and the world.”

Iran has reportedly submitted a new proposal to the US to reach a complete end to the war within 30 days, and President Trump has already cast doubt on it and suggested he'd rather continue the conflict.

"I will soon be reviewing the plan that Iran has just sent to us, but can’t imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years," the president wrote on Truth Social on Saturday.

Man in court charged with planning to kill Dutch princesses

May 4, 2026

A 33-year-old man has appeared in court in The Hague charged with threatening the lives of two of the three Dutch princesses.

During the preliminary hearing, Anne Romke van der H denied via his lawyer that he wanted to kill princess Amalia and her sister Alexia. He was arrested in February after a hotel he was staying in called the police because he would not stop screaming about killing people from the balcony of his room, the AD reported.

Police found two axes with their names and“Sieg Heil”carved into the handles in his room, along with a note listing their names and the word“bloedbad”– although these were just three of the many words on the piece of paper, the public prosecutor admitted in court.

The prosecutor also said Van der H had said during a police interview that he believed he was in a romantic relationship with Amalia. The axes, he told police, were needed to go on survival training with Amalia.

His lawyer told the court that Van der H had “absolutely no intention of harming the princesses” and said“bloedbad 400”was the name of the“training mission in Poland”. He asked the court to release his client from custody so he could undergo psychiatric treatment, the AD said.

The court sided with the public prosecutor, who told the court that the suspect had been in a clinic last year and said that he was “not afraid to stab people”. He had also been spotted near the palace gardens, which was “serious enough” to merit being remanded in custody, the court said.

Van der H has also been charged with verbally insulting several police officers in different incidents.

The national war memorial on the Dam in central Amsterdam was sprayed withredpaint in the early hours of Monday morning, just hours before the Remembrance Day commemorations.

The monument, where the king and queen and other dignitaries will lay wreaths on Monday evening, takes center stage in the annual televised event, in which the Dutch remember their war dead with two-minutes silence.

Cleaners were out in force on Monday morning to remove the paint, which included the word“genocide”.

Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema condemned the action as an “unbelievably cowardly act” in a message on social media. Prime minister Rob Jetten described it as “idiotic and completely unacceptable”.

This is especially the case on May 4, Jetten said on social media. “Today, let us be united and reflect together in silence,” he said.

There have been continued efforts by some campaigners to widen the scope of the May 4 commemorations to remember all victims of war.

Last year the monument was attacked with red paint during a large pro-Palestine demonstration in the capital.

Who is Clinton Cornell? New Naval Academy Commandant Will 'Forge Warriors'

Cornell, a 2001 USNA graduate, said he's "excited" to return to his old stomping grounds.

Come June, Clinton Cornell will take the reins as the 92nd U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) commandant and is ready to "forge warriors" in current and future midshipmen.

The USNA announced April 28 that the Dickson City, Penn., native and 2001 USNA graduate will officially step into the role during a graduation ceremony this June. He earned his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at the USNA prior to graduating from the National War College, where he earned a master's degree in national security studies.

Cornell will oversee roughly 4,400 midshipmen, being compared to a dean of students at a civilian university who is responsible for day-to-day conduct, military training and professional development.

“I am honored to serve as commandant of Midshipmen,” Cornell said in a statement. “It is a privilege to lead the brigade of midshipmen as we forge warriors—leaders of character grounded in accountability, discipline, and a relentless commitment to war fighting excellence.

"I am excited to return to the Naval Academy, and my family looks forward to joining a team dedicated to strengthening a culture of readiness and resilience as we prepare the next generation of Navy and Marine Corps leaders to deter conflict and, when called, fight and win.”

He will step into the role amid some recent turmoil. In November 2025, then-Commandant Gilbert Clark, Jr., also a USNA graduate (1998), was relieved about six months into his own tenure.

USNA Superintendent Lt. Gen. Michael Borgschulte cited “a loss of confidence in his ability to effectively lead the Brigade of Midshipmen” as reasoning for his ousting. Austin Jackson, a Navy SEAL and former troop commander at the secretive SEAL Team 6, has been interim commandant since Clark's departure.

From San Diego to Annapolis

The new role involves Cornell and his family moving across the country, from San Diego, Calif., to Annapolis, Md.

He is currently serving as commander of the San Diego-based Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group ONE (EODGRU-1), which according to Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) clears explosive hazards to provide access to denied areas, and employs advanced tactics and technologies to exploit and secure the undersea domain for freedom of maneuver.

Cornell, according to the USNA, is designated as an EOD Warfare officer with qualifications as a special operations officer, surface warfare officer, deep sea diving officer, combat craft patrol officer and naval parachutist.

'Project Freedom' to Use Missiles, 15k Personnel to Open Strait of Hormuz

Iran's regime already claimed on Monday to have hit a U.S. warship with missiles.

U.S. Central Command announced Sunday that the newest military strategy to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to broader commercial shipping is through what it calls "Project Freedom."

Project Freedom, according to CENTCOM, began Monday, May 4, in response to the blockade that has resulted in major shipping delays worldwide and had negative repercussions on oil markets. The mission, being given the green light by President Donald Trump, is supporting merchant vessels seeking to freely transit through the essential international trade corridor.

The mission involves guided-missile destroyers, more than 100 land and sea-based aircraft, multi-domain unmanned platforms, and roughly 15,000 service members.

“Our support for this defensive mission is essential to regional security and the global economy as we also maintain the naval blockade,” Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander, said in a statement on Sunday.

On Monday, Iran's Fars news agency claimed that two of the nation's missiles hit a U.S. warship near Jask Island after it ignored Iranian warnings. That claim was labeled as fiction by CENTCOM, which put out a brief response on X: "No U.S. Navy ships have been struck. The Strait of Hormuz has become more widely known for being a major oil chokepoint, providing roughly 25% of the world’s oil trade at sea in addition to significant volumes of fuel and fertilizer products. The effect on gas prices has been especially true in the United States, where the national average on Sunday according to AAA was $4.46 for a regular gallon of unleaded—up from an average of $4.43 on Saturday and $4.09 one week earlier.

Thousands of people packed into Dam square in Amsterdam city centre for the ceremony at the national war memorial, where king Willem-Alexander and queen Maxima, prime minister Rob Jetten and other dignitaries and military chiefs laid wreaths in memory of those who died.

Sacked Russian Minister Flees To US Amid Corruption Probe In First Of Ukraine War

A Russian minister has become the first known high-ranking official to flee Russia and seek asylum in the United States since the Ukraine war began over four years ago, amid a fraud probe.

Denis Butsayev, a senior Russian official recently dismissed from the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, fled to the US to avoid criminal prosecution, regional media reports say.

He was officially removed from his post as deputy minister on April 22 by an order of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Soon after, and pending possible arrest, Butsayev left the country by traveling through neighboring Belarus.

"Butsayev's departure is the first known case of a sitting official of this rank fleeing the country," independent journalist Farida Rustamova wrote. Butsayev is "lucky to have friends who were able to warn him on time," one source told the journalist.

Prior to his appointment to the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry in 2025, Butsayev served as CEO of the Russian Ecological Operator (or, Environmental Operator), a state-backed entity with charge of the country's national waste management reforms.

Butsayev has not been formally charged, but he's a person of interest amid an ongoing probe of other senior officials for corruption. According to more details in Meduza:

In late April, several anonymous Telegram channels reported that a criminal case had been opened against Yury Valdayev, the administrative director of Russian Ecological Operator (REO) — the operator company of the garbage reform — on fraud charges. Butsayev worked at REO from April to November 2019, was subsequently appointed first deputy governor of Belgorod Region, and returned as CEO of REO in November 2020, a post he held until moving to the Natural Resources Ministry in 2025.

Criminal cases have also been opened against two other senior REO managers, Yekaterina Stepkina and Maxim Shcherbakov, Vedomosti’s sources say, and Butsayev is mentioned in the case materials as well. In what capacity he appears there, and what the cases concern, is unclear.

Thus it is said that the United States must import students, scientists, and engineers from abroad to fill universities and work in the private sector—though even this talent pool may dry up eventually as more foreign nationals find attractive opportunities elsewhere.

Yet alongside such arguments—sometimes in the very same publications in which they appear—one learns of layoffs of tens of thousands of scientists and engineers in the computer, telecommunications, and aerospace industries, of the deep frustration and even anger felt by newly minted PhDs unable to find stable employment in traditional science and engineering career paths, and of senior scientists and engineers who are advising undergraduates against pursuing careers in their own fields. Why the contradictory reports on professions routinely deemed critical to the success of the American economy? Is it possible that there really is no shortage in these fields?

The recent history of shortage forecasts begins in the mid-1980s, when the then-leadership of the National Science Foundation (NSF) and a few top research universities began to predict "looming shortfalls" of scientists and engineers in the next two decades.

Their arguments were based upon quite simplistic demographic projections produced by a small policy office reporting to the NSF director—projections that earlier had been sharply criticized by the NSF's own science and engineering workforce experts.

Only a few years later, it became apparent that the trends actually pointed toward a growing surplus of scientists and engineers. In 1992, the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology's Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight conducted a formal investigation and hearing about the shortfall projections, leading to much embarrassment at

the NSF. In his opening remarks at the hearing, the subcommittee's chairman. Democrat Howard Wolpe of Michigan, declared that the "credibility of the [National Science] Foundation is seriously damaged when it is so careless about its own product." Sherwood Boehlert, the subcommittee's ranking Republican and now chair of the full House Science Committee, called the NSF director's shortfall predictions "the equivalent to shouting 'Fire' in a crowded theater." They were "based on very tenuous data and analysis. In short, a mistake was made," he said. "Let's figure out how to avoid similar mistakes, and then move on." Boehlert's advice was not heeded.

How many qualified students were denied admittance or financial help for "diversity" or giving preference to foreign students? We know the H1-B hiring is for cheap labor, not merit. Smiseth is an archaeologist responsible for metal detector finds in Innlandet County Municipality.

When detectorists Vegard Sørlie and Rune Sætre found 19 silver coins in a field near Rena in eastern Norway, they realised their search had to stop. Archaeologists needed to be brought in.

Former Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell was accused by multiple women of sending sexual messages, including “videos of him masturbating,” after becoming one of the first members of Congress to join Snapchat in an effort to restore “faith” in “democracy.”

In a bombshell report on Sunday – less than a month after Swalwell resigned from Congress after being accused of rape and sexual assault by multiple women – CNN spoke to “more than a dozen” women who claimed the congressman had made them feel uncomfortable, both in person and online, over the past decade.

Several women told CNN that the congressman had sent them sexually explicit messages on Snapchat after he became “one of the first lawmakers to join Snapchat” and was heralded in the media as “the Snapchat king of Congress,” according to CNN.

“We can restore a lot of faith that people have in their democracy by opening it up a little bit more,” Swalwell told The Hill in 2016 after joining the messaging service. “Snapchat is a great way to do that.”

However, it allegedly wasn’t long before the congressman began to use his Snapchat account for purposes other than politics.

One young woman claimed Swalwell would send her Snapchat messages about her future, before asking inappropriate questions such as, “What are you wearing?”

Two other women told CNN that Swalwell sent them “sexually explicit messages and unsolicited nude photos and videos of himself” in 2021, while a third woman also claimed to have received “sexually tinged messages and videos.”

One former congressional staffer allegedly developed a consensual sexual relationship with Swalwell after he began flirting with her on Snapchat in 2021.

During the relationship,Swalwell reportedly sent “nude photos of himself and videos of him masturbating,” which showed the congressman’s “face and naked body.”

The videos, which were saved by the woman, were shown to CNN.

As Swalwell’s public profile grew, more than a dozen women describe how he made them uncomfortable in private

A 19-year-old Los Angeles restaurant hostess was stunned to get a LinkedIn message from Eric Swalwell – a congressman she had interacted with brieflyas she escorted him and his party to a table, only telling him her first name.

A young congressional staffer saidSwalwell sent her flirty messages on Snapchat after talking to her inside a Capitol Hill officeand slipping his business card into her back pocket.

Another young woman who connected online with Swalwell about a policy issue said he repeatedly sent her suggestive messages, offered to fly her to DC, and even wrote her a letter of recommendation despite never meeting in person.

“He would Snapchat me. He’d be like, ‘What do you want to do with your future?’” she recalled. “And then he’d be like, ‘What are you wearing right now?’”

More than a dozen women who spoke with CNN described interactions with Swalwell that made them uncomfortable over the last decade, from social media messages to in-person encounters to alleged attempts by the congressman to lure them to his hotel room. Some asked not to be named out of fear of retaliation.

Their accounts – none of which have been previously reported – add new depth to a portrait of troubling behavior by Swalwell, who dropped out of the California governor’s race and resigned from Congress last month after a former staffer told CNN and the San Francisco Chronicle that he raped her. Swalwell, who has denied the allegation, now faces criminal investigations in New York and California.

None of the women who spoke to CNN for this story described sexual assaults.

But their accounts suggest that even as the Democratic rising star drew plaudits for connecting with young voters on social media, where he advocated for women and blasted President Trump for a history of sexual assault allegations, he was using the same platforms to reach out to women and at times to sexually pursue them.

Sara Azari, an attorney for Swalwell, said in a statement that “Swalwell categorically and unequivocally denies each and every allegation of sexual misconduct and assault that has been leveled against him.” She said that Swalwell denied the accounts of some of the women who spoke to CNN, and that his communications with others were “routine and professional.”

She also confirmed that Swalwell had consensual relationships outside of his marriage.

“He had extramarital contact with women. He’s not denying that,” Azari said. “But that’s very different than engaging in nonconsensual sexual misconduct.”

The night after CNN reporters outlined the women’s accounts to Azari to seek comment, without sharing any of their names, Swalwell personally sent Snapchat messages to two of the women. “Why are you screenshotting my snap,” he asked one woman in a message sent around 2 a.m. Eastern, according to a video she provided CNN.

Some women who interacted with Swalwell described him as exhibiting “Jekyll and Hyde” behavior. He portrayed himself as a champion of women’s rights while introducing legislation to support victims of domestic assault, speaking out in support of the MeToo movement, and voting for a resolution banning sexual relationships between lawmakers and their staff.

But at the same time, according to allegations shared in recent weeks with CNN, Swalwell was sexually pursuing at least one woman who worked for him as well as other Capitol Hill staffers, sending women unsolicited nude photos of himself, and, allegedly, sexually assaulting two women.

The women say their experiences with Swalwell came as he accumulated power in Congress, including a seat on the House Intelligence Committee, and allegedly continued well into his front-running push to become California’s next governor. His actions suggest a pattern of behavior that could have exposed him to blackmail or extortion, said Emma Davidson Tribbs, a founding director of the National Women’s Defense League.

“It opens people up to a level of blackmail and influence that you don’t want a public servant to have,” Davidson Tribbs said. “This is a liability for democracy – it makes all of us less safe.”

A Snapchat pioneer

From the earliest days of Swalwell’s political career and even his college years, friends and associates described him as being both driven by ambition and talent – and at times exhibiting concerning behavior around women.

Cancer In An Alkaline Environment

Is it true that cancer cells cannot live in alkaline tissues? Yes, absolutely that’s true. Also as a matter of

fact all cells have an optimal PH, which is acid alkaline, and an optimal temperature at which they

function.

For example, if your body is chilled down to 90 degrees, you’re not going to be moving around, even

at 93 or 92 degrees you won’t be moving.

When I was doing my residency, my internship, we used to have people come in from Central Park

who had been out in the cold and fallen asleep. We had to heat them up before we could know if they

were alive or not. You can’t pronounce someone dead if they’re alive, so we had to actually heat them

up.

So there’s a bottom temperature and an upper temperature and the same with alkaline and acid. Our

body functions best at a PH of 7.4. When you get up to 7.5 or 7.6 cancer cells just can’t do their thing

and will not survive. Part of their a cancer cells whole metabolic requirement is acid production, and

they can’t produce those acids in an alkaline environment.

Did you ever try to stick your head out of the window while your car’s going 60 miles an hour with

your face facing toward the direction you’re driving into and try to breathe? You can’t breathe. You

have to turn your head to the side, it’s like too much air. Well, it’s the same thing with the alkalinity.

The cancer cells just can’t function at that high of a ph.
