RNC $100 million ahead of DNC after another record-breaking month of fundraising

 

he Republican National Committee continued its record-setting year of fundraising in July by pulling in $14.2 million last month โ€” more than it raised in the same month in 2010 and 2014 combined, the organization confirmed to the Washington Examiner Monday morning.

 

The new July total is also the most the GOP group has ever received in any month during a nonpresidential election year.

 

Since the beginning of the 2018 election cycle, the RNC has now hauled in $227.2 million. The Democratic National Committee has raised less than half that amount - $109 million - as of the end of June, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Trump Urges Senate to Pass Bill That Would Crack Down on Illicit Opioid Shipments

 

 

President Donald Trump is urging the Senate to quickly pass a measure that would stop illicit synthetic opioid drugs such as fentanyl from being transported into the United States from China through the postal system.

 

โ€œIt is outrageous that Poisonous Synthetic Heroin Fentanyl comes pouring into the U.S. Postal System from China,โ€ he wrote in an Aug. 20 Twitter post.

 

Fentanyl is an opioid thatโ€™s 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In 2016, about 19,400 people died from overdoses involving synthetic opioids, including fentanyl, other than methadone.

 

โ€œWe can, and must, END THIS NOW! The Senate should pass the STOP ACT โ€“ and firmly STOP this poison from killing our children and destroying our country. No more delay!โ€ Trump continued in the post.

 

In June, the House appproved the STOP Act, among a barrage of comprehensive measures to combat the opioid crisis; the Senate has yet to act on the bill.

 

The presidentโ€™s comments come amid talk that the administration will soon release a highly anticipated report aimed at reforming the U.S. Postal Service.

 

The STOP Act legislation, first introduced in September 2016 by Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and then-Sen. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, strengthens postal rules and would require mail shipped through foreign postal services to send the same electronic advance data as private carriers such as United Postal Service or FedEx.

 

The act also highlights that most of the drugs are being sent from places such as China and India, and often via mail.

 

The data would enable U.S. Customs and Border Protection to โ€œbetter target potential illegal packages and keep these dangerous drugs from ending up in the hands of drug traffickers who want to harm our local communities.โ€

 

The legislation also includes another drug called carfentanilโ€”the same class of drug as fentanyl, only 100 times more potent. Carfentanil has been used as a sedative for large animals, and also is banned from the battlefield under the Chemical Weapons Convention.

County Election Boards Begin Official Balderson/Oโ€™Connor Count

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) โ€“ The window has opened for county election boards to begin the official count in Ohioโ€™s deadlocked special congressional election.

Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted says official canvassing begin Saturday. The formal tally must be wrapped up by Aug. 24.

The Aug. 7 contest between Republican state Sen. Troy Balderson, of Zanesville, and Democrat Danny Oโ€™Connor, the Franklin County recorder, remains too close to call. Balderson leads Oโ€™Connor by less than a percentage point with thousands of ballots potentially left to be counted.

If the vote total remains within half a percentage point, an automatic recount will be triggered.

The two seek an open U.S. House seat made available by Republican Pat Tiberiโ€™s retirement in January.

Court approves Allison Mackโ€™s request to get a job, go to school and church

 

Itโ€™s official. Judge Nicholas Giraufis has approved the requested home detention modifications for Allison Mack.

Last week, Mack requested a modification of the conditions of her home detention to permit her to leave her residence for employment, religious services (once per week); and schooling.

Mack was arrested on April 20, at her Brooklyn apartment by FBI agents. Following her arrest Mack was released on a $5 million personal recognizance bond secured by real property with a combined estimated market value of $1.7 million, including her parentsโ€™ residence in California, and a lien on Mackโ€™s retirement account valued at $585,000.

Mack will still be required to wear an ankle monitor. And she cannot travel outside the Central District of California (where her parents reside), the Eastern District of New York, and the Southern District of New York without permission of the court.

She also may not have contactโ€”outside the presence of her attorneysโ€”with co-defendants, alleged co-conspirators, or any

individual currently or formerly employed by or associated with Nxivm or any affiliated entity.

She may not use a computer and go on the Internet with the exception of a device, approved and monitored by Pretrial Services, to communicate with her lawyers, Pretrial Services, and a treatment provider, or anyone else with prior approval from Pretrial Services and the government.

She can make and receive calls to and from phone numbers agreed to by her lawyers and the government on a cell phone monitored by Pretrial Services. Prior to her arrest, Mack had no criminal history.

In arguing for her right to work, volunteer, go to school and church, her lawyers wrote, that โ€œwhile the instant charges have deprived her of pursuing her acting career, Ms. Mack nevertheless is interested in contributing to society. In that regard, Ms. Mack has contacted her Pretrial Services Officer to express her interest in obtaining employment, volunteering in her community, and

attending classes and religious services while she waits for the opportunity to defend herself and clear her name at trialโ€ฆ..

โ€œThe proposed modifications will allow Ms. Mack to contribute to society and her own self betterment while she awaits the resolution of the criminal charges. They will permit her to explore employment opportunities, pursue further education, and attend religious services. These activities not only will allow Ms. Mack to use her time productively while awaiting trial, but will also assist her reintegration into society if she is vindicated of the charges or even in the unlikely event that she is convicted after trial.โ€

Frank Report correctly predicted that because both Pretrial Services and the prosecution consented to the proposed

amendments to her home detention, it was likely to be approved by Judge Nicholas Girafuafis.

It was approved and Mack can now seek employment, school and a church suitable to her tastes and opportunities.

If she obtains employment, she is required to provide Pretrial Services with her work schedule as well as copies of paychecks or pay stubs. If she enrolls in a class or classes, she is to provide Pretrial Services with proof of enrollment and her class schedule.

I am wondering how does one "join" the republican party. Or any party for that matter. I was an independent but switch my voter registration so I could vote for Trump during the primaries. Is there a way to "join" the party?

Two Individuals Charged for Acting as Illegal Agents of the Government of Iran

CNN contributor and prominent anti-Trumper Ana Navarro mocked First Lady Melania Trump Monday by quipping that she has suffered โ€œoxygen deprivation to the brain.โ€

 

Navarro apparently interrupted her own vacation to hurl insults at President Donald Trumpโ€™s wife.

And why would Fusion GPS hire Nellie Ohr? Aside from the obvious connection to her DOJ husband who was in a position to provide Fusion GPS with information on Trump gathered by US intelligence agencies, Nellie Ohr also represented the CIAโ€™s โ€œOpen Source Worksโ€ group in a 2010 โ€œexpert working group report on international organized crimeโ€ along with Bruce Ohr and Glenn Simpson.

 

To one side of Ohr, there is the Fusion GPS team, including fellow contractor Christopher Steele. To the other, there is husband Bruce Ohr, who, until his โ€œdossierโ€-related demotion, was No. 4 man at the Department of Justice, and a key contact there for Steele.

 

As central as Nellie Ohrโ€™s placement is, her role in the creation of the โ€œdossierโ€ remains undefined. For example, the House Intelligence Committee memo on related matters vaguely tells us that Nellie Ohr was โ€œemployed by Fusion GPS to assist in the cultivation of opposition research on Trumpโ€; the memo adds that Bruce Ohr โ€œlater provided the FBI with all of his wifeโ€™s opposition research.โ€ Senator Lindsey Graham more sensationally told Fox News that Nellie Ohr โ€œdid the research for Mr. Steele,โ€ but details remain scarce.

 

Notably, the โ€œdossierโ€ men in her life have tried to shield Ohr from public scrutiny, even at professional risk. Her husband, as the Daily Caller News Foundation reports, failed to disclose his wifeโ€™s employment with Fusion GPS and seek the appropriate conflict-of-interest waiver, which may have been an important factor in his demotion from associate deputy attorney general late last year.

 

Under Senate and House questioning, Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson consistently failed to disclose Nellie Ohrโ€™s existence as one of his firmโ€™s paid Russian experts, let alone that he hired her for the red-hot DNC/Clinton campaign Trump-Russia project.

 

Even Christopher Steele may have tried to keep Nellie Ohr โ€œunder cover.โ€ Steele, put forth as the โ€œdossierโ€ author ever since its January 2017 publication in BuzzFeed, does not appear to have let on to his many media and political contacts that he had โ€œdossierโ€-assistance from at least two fellow Fusion GPS Russian experts, Nellie Ohr and Edward Baumgartner. Baumgartner, interestingly, was a Russian history major at Vassar in the 1990s when Nellie Ohr taught Russian history there.

 

***Yesterday, President Trumpโ€™s attorney, former New York City Mayor, Rudy Giuliani outed former Obama CIA Director John Brennan as the man in charge of โ€˜Spygateโ€™.

 

***Rudy claims Brennan orchestrated the โ€˜Spygateโ€™ scandal and was the quarterback: It appears that the men in Nellieโ€™s life did all they could to prevent Nellie Ohr from being outed for being involved in the dossier because she also has links to the CIA and therefore to Brennan.

Mudd did say he make no private sector money because of it, so really no harm in revoking it. I seriously doubt when he consults with any government agency, they are giving him any actual info, they are looking to find out what he knows about a subject. And heโ€™d obviously be giving it to someone with clearance.
