A little off topic, as I'm asking for a few opinions. I'm from Washington, and the gun laws here are about to get a lot worse. I mean, they've never been great, but after forcing 1639 through amidst bad judges and much lawbreaking, the state congress is talking about making it illegal to assemble a gun from a parts kit, to buy a semi automatic rifle, to have ammuntion in the same room as the gun you mean to protect your family with, and both have to be locked up and away from your reach. Warrentless searches on an 'as-needed' basis to verify your compliance.

I ASSUME once voter-ID is in place, we can force a bill through that repeals 1639. But after the bump-stock nonsense, Trump doesn't have the greatest support from second amendment is best amendment folks. /k/ has, as a board I think, written him off as a one-term wonder.

What do you think? How will we fix the laws, and associated culture, put in place by bad actors, post 2020? Or 2024+ ? How will I be able to melt a barn shovel and hammer it into an AK-47 without moving lock stock and barrel from the most beautiful part of this wonderful country, to the middle of flat, plant-less flyover country and hope for a decent job before the next wave of evil?

Democrats are waging a pitched battle over voter information data, with the national party preferring such data be stored in a large vat while activists want the content decentralized. Hoffman’s plans to create a separate voter database and reports linking him to a false flag operation are complicating the issue.

Democratic operatives meanwhile worry the infighting could hurt the party’s chances of defeating President Donald Trump in 2020.

“We have a crisis,” Robby Mook, a campaign manager for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s 2016 White House bid, told reporters in December. “Republicans are going to have a major strategic advantage over us in 2020 if we don’t fix it.” One DNC adviser suggested a solution.

Mary Beth Cahill, a senior adviser to the DNC, expressed a willingness to work with Hoffman on a plan helping the party establish a revamped voter database. Democrats worry the billionaire LinkedIn founder’s plan to go it alone could leave the party on the outside looking in.

“The DNC believes the creation of a data trust is imperative to winning in 2020 and beyond, and we are open to participating alongside a variety of partners in a data trust that protects the interests of our party and ensures state parties have what they need to win,” Cahill said in a Dec. 10 press statement.

Neither House Speaker Nancy Pelosi nor Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer responded to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment about the prospects of a DNC-Hoffman collaboration. The committee also did not make DNC Chair Tom Perez available for an interview on the subject.

Their silence on a potential Hoffman collaboration comes on the heels of reports that various groups-aligned with the Silicon Valley tech guru used his money to orchestrate a massive misinformation campaign during the midterms. Hoffman later apologized for the ruse, but the damage was already done.

Operatives connected with tech firm New Knowledge created thousands of Twitter accounts posing as Russian bots to boost the election-year chances of Democratic Sen. Doug Jones, The New York Times reported on Dec. 19. The accounts began following then-Republican senatorial candidate Roy Moore’s Twitter account in October 2017. Jones has since called for a probe.

The scheme worked like a charm. It attracted attention from local and national media, falsely suggesting Russia was backing Moore’s candidacy. The Montgomery Advertiser, for instance, was the first to cover the story using the Russian bot angle. National media outlets quickly followed suit. Some media pundits even mocked Moore for accusing Democrats of trolling his account.

But these bills are being met by resistance from an unlikely group. A handful of sheriffs is standing up to the “unconstitutional” nature of the bills and is promising disobedience.

Sheriff Bob Songer is one of these sheriffs who is outspoken about his resistance. During an interview with the Guardian, published over the weekend, Songer told the newspaper that the anti-gun legislation passed last November “is unconstitutional on several grounds. I’ve taken the position that as an elected official, I am not going to enforce that law.”

Songer—like every single sheriff and law enforcement officer in the country—swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, and now he’s overtly honoring it by protecting the Second Amendment.

The sheriff of Ferry County agrees with Songer and is also promising not to enforce the laws. Sheriff Ray Maycumber told the Guardian that he will resist the legislation as well.

Police officers standing up for the gun rights of the citizens they serve is rare, but it has happened before. In Connecticut in 2014, legislators passed into law highly restrictive gun control, gun bans, and bans on high capacity magazines.

The laws were so overreaching and unconstitutional that hundreds of law enforcement officers came together to resist it.

They have few people in the streets, and two or three people can occupy a small residential building; in contrast our streets are always crawling with people, and several people have to share one room. Many years ago, there was a book titled Yellow Catastrophes. It said that, due to our following the American style of consumption, our limited resources would no longer support the population and society would collapse once our population reaches 1.3 billion. Now our population has already exceeded this limit, and we are now relying on imports to sustain our nation. It’s not that we haven’t paid attention to this issue.
