Does Diacetyl in Vaping Cause Popcorn Lung?

 

What is popcorn lung?

 

Popcorn lung is a slang name for a serious condition with the scientific name bronchiolitis obliterans, or obliterative bronchiolitis. Sometimes the name is abbreviated as BO, and it is occasionally called constrictive bronchiolitis.

 

Popcorn lung is caused when the smallest airways within the lungs (bronchioles) are scarred, and their capacity and efficiency are reduced. There is no cure for the condition except a lung transplant.

 

Bronchiolitis obliterans can result from a variety of medical and environmental causes. The bronchioles can become inflamed and damaged from viral, bacterial and fungal infections, or by inhalation of chemical particles. Although diketones like diacetyl are the chemicals most often associated with popcorn lung, the National Institutes of Health lists several other chemicals that can cause it, including chlorine, ammonia, sulfur dioxide, and inhaled metal fumes from welding.

 

And despite being the only real cure for popcorn lung, lung transplants themselves can cause it too. In fact, bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS) is the single largest cause of chronic lung transplant rejection.

What are the symptoms of popcorn lung?

 

The scarring of the lung tissue blocks the airways and prevents the lungs from functioning properly. The symptoms are very similar to those of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but bronchiolitis symptoms can appear within just 2-8 weeks, while COPD typically takes many years or even decades to develop. Early bronchiolitis symptoms include:

 

A dry cough

Shortness of breath

Reduced activity tolerance

Wheezing (without a cold or asthma)

Fatigue

 

Although popcorn lung is an incredibly rare disease, the early symptoms are similar to a common cold. Over a period of weeks or months, those symptoms progress and become more severe. Eventually the disease causes a variety of severe problems with breathing and absorption of oxygen. Untreated, popcorn lung causes death from respiratory failure within months or years.

 

There is no cure for popcorn lung, but treatment can sometimes slow its progression. Depending on the cause, popcorn lung is sometimes treated with antibiotics, immunosuppressive drugs, or corticosteroids. Cough medication or oxygen may be given to help manage symptoms. Severe cases may require a lung transplant.

 

Popcorn lung can be difficult to diagnose. Although CT scans and pulmonary function tests can offer strong clues, the only reliable way to identify the disease is through a surgical lung biopsy. And sometimes multiple biopsy samples are required to be certain.

Why is it called popcorn lung?

 

In 2002, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) documented eight cases of lung disease in employees who had worked at a Missouri popcorn factory between the years 1992 and 2000. Investigation showed that those with the worst lung damage had spent considerable time mixing a flavoring chemical called diacetyl with hot oil in large industrial-sized vats.

 

Although the popcorn workers who were diagnosed with obliterative bronchiolitis had severe and irreversible lung damage, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH, an agency within the CDC) found that the workers at the factory showed a spectrum of injury to the lungs probably caused by the flavoring chemicals. Not every affected employee had untreatable lung obstruction.

Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson donate blood for coronavirus vaccine

 

Tom Hanks revealed that he and his wife, Rita Wilson, have volunteered to donate their blood for coronavirus research after recovering from the disease.

 

“A lot of the question is, is what now? What do we do now? Is there something we can do? And, in fact, we just found out that we do carry the antibodies,” Hanks said on NPR’s podcast “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!” last week.

 

“We have not only been approached, we have said, ‘Do you want our blood? Can we give plasma?' And, in fact, we will be giving it now to the places that hope to work on what I would like to call the ‘Hank-ccine,’” the actor joked.

 

He said he and Wilson are feeling “just fine” and “dandy” after it was reported last month that they had tested positive for the coronavirus while in Australia for a film project. They have since recovered and returned home to Los Angeles.

 

Hanks said that Wilson experienced nausea from the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine. The drug has previously been touted by President Trump as a possible treatment for the coronavirus, although medical professionals have indicated there is little known evidence that it works effectively for COVID-19 patients.

 

Hanks said that his wife “went through a tougher time than I did," referring to the symptoms she experienced from the virus.

 

"She had a much higher fever and she had some other symptoms. She lost her sense of taste and smell. She got absolutely no joy from food for a better part of three weeks … She was so nauseous she had to crawl on the floor from the bed to the facilities,” he said during an interview with the National Defense Radio Show earlier this month.

 

The couple has encouraged people to continue practicing social distancing and abide by recommendations from health officials.

text files of the front pages of print news media from all around the USA. These are updated daily, so

it's a cheap way to get a daily snapshot of whatever it is that the print MSM think Americans oughtta

know on any given day. They do not archive them: every day somewhere in the middle of the night or

thereabouts, they update them, discarding "yesterday's news" into the bit-bucket.

 

Oh, yeah: this matters, too – Newseum .org is stationed in Washington, D.C., where your tax dollars

go to die. They had some sort of money problems, and were forced to close their physical bricks and

mortar "Newseum" news museum back in Dec. 2019. You know: Washington, D.C.? Yeah, that place

just down the road from Langley, Virginia. Just sayin'

 

Anyway, the pdf files for most of the newspapers' front pages tend to be usually in the 1Mb - 3Mb size

range, with pdf files at the 3Mb end of the range being uncommon and unusual (though, for any given

newspaper, it fluctuates within that approximate range from day to day – it depends on what photo is

on the cover of whichever paper, that day, mainly, I think).

 

And as I say, they are updated, daily, never archived.

So I look at the pdf in a pdf viewer. Nada: boring, boring. So I open the pdf as a txt file – here it goes

past my skill set (see second paragraph): I really haven't a f_ckin' clue, but it looks like there are lots

of small, non-rendering pdf documents or pages, offset in some code-monkey, so that they will not get

rendered unless first extracted and given the proper pdf file format's head and tail, – small, "secret" or

whatever pdfs (or pages of one pdf) that are embedded in the plaintext pdf of "today's" NYP @ newseum.

 

Here it goes past my skill set – so, I am posting this here, and attaching the jpg and pdf that were at

the newseum .org website very early this morning (in case what I saw gets swapped out either because

Health experts in China are blasting buses with beams of ultraviolet light in a bid to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

 

With viruses spreading via droplets landing on shared surfaces, public transport hubs and vehicles are seen as infection hotbeds.

 

Guidance issued by the National Health Commission says the virus is sensitive to ultraviolet light and heat, although the World Health Organisation warns against using UV lamps to sterilise hands or other areas of skin.

 

Photos taken in Shanghai show entire buses awash with the eerie glow of lamps pumping out beams of radiation to eradicate any trace of the bug.

 

Mainland China reported a rise in new confirmed coronavirus cases on Thursday, reversing three straight days of decline, following a spike in new infections in Wuhan, the city at the centre of the outbreak.

 

There are now 139 new confirmed cases as of Wednesday, the NHC said, bringing the total accumulated number to 80,409. Authorities reported 119 new cases the previous day and 125 the day before that.

 

Wuhan’s new infections climbed to 131 from 114 a day earlier. There was no immediate elaboration and health officials were due to hold a briefing later in the day.

 

After what some critics said was an initially hesitant response to the new virus, China imposed sweeping restrictions to try to stop it, including transport suspensions, lockdowns of cities and extending a Lunar New Year holiday across the country.

 

WHO officials have said other countries have much to learn from the way China has handled the outbreak and Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu said many countries had asked for help and China was responding.

 

The number of new confirmed cases in Hubei, excluding Wuhan, has remained in single digits for seven consecutive days, with three new infections recorded on Wednesday.

 

In the rest of mainland China, outside Hubei, there were only five new confirmed cases, the health commission said.

 

With the downward trend in new cases, Chinese authorities have turned their attention to stopping the virus being brought back in from new coronavirus hot spots abroad.

I've considered that. It's a really interesting phenomenon in Normieland from what's I've seen. On one hand are those who don't need any convincing that the virus is not that dangerous and this whole thing is ridiculous. On the other hand are the "muh science, muh Birx, muh Fauci, muh healthcare workers on the front lines muh mask" who will not believe anything that doesn't come from some "authoritative" deep state organ.

However, it took until this weekend for a news publication — the UK's Mail on Sunday — to track down a few people who know Xi Mingze, Xi's 20-year-old daughter currently studying at Harvard University.

 

The scraps of information gleamed from the Mail's reporter aren't much—Xi, nicknamed Muzi, "is a bookworm, very quiet and studious," she is protected by bodyguards, and she shuns the partying lifestyle. Perhaps the best nugget of information is this:

 

She attended a discussion last spring about the political tumult convulsing China's Communist Party, where she reportedly listened 'intently' from the top row of the lecture hall.

 

While the article contains few bombshells, that didn't stop the photograph of the article included here appearing on Chinese social network Weibo shortly after publication, and promptly being shared widely by Chinese netizens.

 

Due to the fact it was an image rather than text, the post was able to avoid Chinese censors for a while. However, by 8:54 a.m. (Hong Kong time), the picture had been removed from Weibo, according to the University of Hong Kong's JMSC's monitoring service, Weiboscope.

 

The Chinese elite is no doubt keen to avoid questions about how exactly Xi Jinping can afford his daughters fees. Officially, his salary is less than $13,000 a year, and Xi's circle has been remarkably cagey about reports of his family's true wealth before.

 

But, to Xi Jinping's credit, the future President may well have been filled with dread as he watched the media circus that descended on ousted Bo Xilai's "playboy" son, and Harvard student, Bo Guagua.

Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act

 

This bill responds to the COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) outbreak by providing additional funding for small business loans, health care providers, and COVID-19 testing.

 

DIVISION A–SMALL BUSINESS PROGRAMS

 

(Sec. 101) This division provides additional lending authority for certain Small Business Administration (SBA) programs in response to COVID-19.

 

Specifically, the division increases the authority for (1) the Paycheck Protection Program, under which the SBA may guarantee certain loans to small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic; and (2) advances on emergency economic injury disaster loans made in response to COVID-19. The division also expands eligibility for such disaster loans and advances to include agricultural enterprises.

 

Additionally, the division requires the SBA to guarantee no less than a specified amount of paycheck protection loans made by certain insured depository institutions, community financial institutions, and credit unions.

 

(Sec. 102) The amounts provided under this division are designated as an emergency requirement pursuant to the Statutory Pay-As-You-Go Act of 2010 (PAYGO) and the Senate PAYGO rule.

Timothy Cardinal Dolan was thought to possibly be next Pope when Francis went up. Francis busted him to library clerk and has stripped him of power over and over.

Dolan's response was to push the release of names of pedo priests above the wishes of the Vatican and the head of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. American Bishops are fighting back and Dolan is their leader.

 

This is a very interesting post by POTUS!

good luck anon. the tests are pretty easy and you can view the question pools online, take the practice tests and you'll know if you'll pass before you go. you'll need a general class license to use the phone portions of 40m and 80m though
