Stacey Shiflett was previously threatened with a $5,000 fine for holding the in-person services during the Wuhan virus pandemic.

FBI’s Full Statement On Bureau’s After Action Review Of Flynn Case

 

“FBI Director Christopher Wray today ordered the Bureau’s Inspection Division to conduct an after-action review of the Michael Flynn investigation. The after-action review will have a two-fold purpose: (1) evaluate the relevant facts related to the FBI’s role in the Flynn investigation and determine whether any current employees engaged in misconduct, and (2) evaluate any FBI policies, procedures, or controls implicated by the Flynn investigation and identify any improvements that might be warranted.

 

The after-action review will complement the already substantial assistance the FBI has been providing to U.S. Attorney Jeff Jensen in connection with his work on the Flynn case. Under Director Wray’s leadership, the FBI has been fully transparent and cooperative with Mr. Jensen, and the FBI’s help has included providing special agents to assist Mr. Jensen in the fact-finding process. Although the FBI does not have the prosecutorial authority to bring a criminal case, the Inspection Division can and will evaluate whether any current on-board employees engaged in actions that might warrant disciplinary measures. As for former employees, the FBI does not have the ability to take any disciplinary action.

 

Director Wray authorized this additional level of review now that the Department of Justice, through Mr. Jensen’s work, has developed sufficient information to determine how to proceed in the Flynn case. $21M Brooklyn field hospital never saw a patient amid coronavirus pandemic

 

A roughly $21 million Brooklyn field hospital authorized by the de Blasio administration at the height of the coronavirus pandemic opened and closed without ever seeing one patient, according to city officials.

 

The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook was one of several sites across the five boroughs converted into a medical facility as a way to relieve the city’s overburdened hospital system as the COVID-19 crisis mounted.

 

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced plans on Mar. 31 — a day after the USNS Comfort hospital ship arrived in New York Harbor to aid in the coronavirus fight — for the $20.8 million Red Hook field hospital with an estimated capacity for 750 beds.

 

The field hospital was built by Texas-based construction company SLSCO.

 

“They are going to set it up rapidly and we’re then going to go to the next site, the next site, the next site to meet our goal,” de Blasio told reporters of the site during that press conference in which the mayor also outlined the details to turn Queens’ Billie Jean King National Tennis Center into a 350-bed temporary hospital.

The field hospital was closed before it ever opened.

 

The makeshift hospital at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal was expected to open in April, but was not ready until May 4 – and is now being disbanded after being left unused, The City first reported.

 

“As part of our hospital surge, we expanded capacity at a breakneck speed, ensuring our hospital infrastructure would be prepared to handle the very worst. We did so only with a single-minded focus: saving lives,” de Blasio spokeswoman Avery Cohen told The Post Friday.

 

“Over the past few months, social distancing, face coverings, and other precautionary measures have flattened the curve drastically, and we remain squarely on focused taking that progress even further,” Cohen added.

 

The funding for the Red Hook hospital is expected to be reimbursed by FEMA.

During the presentations on the Governor’s proclamation, it was the Attorney General’s position, speaking for the Governor, that he can issue ongoing proclamations for the current disaster.

 

Paraphrasing the Judge’s question:

 

Judge: Hypothetical, can the Governor issue a 4th proclamation of a disaster and deem it does not end until all are vaccinated?

 

Governor’s Attorney – Yes, he has that authority.

I want to start with progress on developing a vaccine. You've said that, starting in January, we were 12-18 months away from a vaccine, but now we hear some people saying there may be a vaccine by the end of the year. Is that realistic?

 

In January, when we first began the development of one of the candidates, one of the several candidates, I had said that we would hope by carefully but nonetheless quickly going through the various steps without compromising safety or scientific integrity, I felt that within a year to a year and a half, we very well might have a vaccine that is available for deployment. I said that in January, and a year from January is December.

 

I think with the way things are progressing now and the fact that we're going to be proceeding from one step to the other with risk for investment but not risk for the patients, in other words in the standard way you develop a vaccine, you do not make major investments in the next step until you are fairly sure that the prior step works and you are satisfied with it. If you jump ahead and at least prepare and make investments, for example preparing sites for trial and even beginning to produce vaccine before you even know it's safe and effective, that you're taking a risk, and the risk is a financial risk, it's not a safety risk. If you do that, you can cut down by several months the process of getting vaccines available as opposed to waiting until you're fairly sure everything works and then beginning for example manufacturing the doses. When you start manufacturing them ahead of time, then the risk is financial, because if it works, you've saved a lot of time. If it doesn't, then you've invested money you're not going to recoup. I think when you put those things together, again with good attention to safety and scientific integrity, it is conceivable that if things work out right, you could have a vaccine that could be ready to be deployed by the end of the year, the beginning of 2021.

 

That is assuming that the vaccine works. We're talking time tables that any time you develop a vaccine, you always remember, you always have a question that you may not get an effective vaccine. Even if you do everything right and you do everything on time, there's no guarantee you're going to have an effective vaccine. So when we talk about having a vaccine that might be available in December or January, that's assuming that the vaccine is actually effective.

 

What does it mean to "have" a vaccine? How many doses need to be developed, distributed or administered before we can legitimately say it's available? World Health Organization Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has warned that the virus won't be defeated until everyone in the world has access to a vaccine.

NATO calling on Russia to return to full compliance with Open Skies Treaty

 

Earlier Friday, a diplomatic source told TASS that the US is seeking support of every NATO ally for unilateral decision to quit the treaty and wants to shift all the responsibility for the step on Russia

NATO believes that Russia should roll back its "flight limitations over Kaliningrad, and restricting flights in Russia near its border with Georgia" and "return to full compliance of the [Open Skies] Treaty" which would allow preserving this agreement after Washington unilaterally pulls out of it, reads statement of NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg issued Friday following the alliance’s urgent summit. However, NATO countries did not unanimously approved US plans to exit the treaty.

Russians to blame

 

"Russia has for many years imposed flight restrictions inconsistent with the Treaty, including flight limitations over Kaliningrad, and restricting flights in Russia near its border with Georgia. Russia’s ongoing selective implementation of its obligations under the Open Skies Treaty has undermined the contribution of this important Treaty to security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic region," the statement reads. "The United States has declared Russia in violation of the Treaty, and has now announced its intention to withdraw from the Treaty in six months, consistent with Treaty provisions. The US has declared that it may, however, reconsider its withdrawal should Russia return to full compliance with the Treaty."

 

"NATO Allies and partner nations have engaged with Russia, both in capitals and at the OSCE in Vienna, to seek Russia’s return to compliance at the earliest date possible. Russia’s return to compliance is the best way to preserve the benefits of the Treaty," the statement adds.

 

Stoltenberg also emphasized that NATO allies raised this issue at the alliance summits in Wales in 2014, Warsaw in 2016 and Brussels in 2018.

The statement also noted that NATO countries "will continue to uphold, support, and further strengthen arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation, as a key element of Euro-Atlantic security." How this idea correlates with the US withdrawal from the treaty is not specified in the statement.

 

At the same time, the document stressed that NATO allies "remain open to dialogue in the NATO-Russia Council on risk reduction and transparency" and "continue to aspire to a constructive relationship with Russia, when Russia’s actions make that possible."

Coronavirus and the Constitution

 

Two months have passed since the lockdown began, and statistics indicate that the coronavirus death toll hasn’t risen as high as we might have supposed. Yet already we hear rhetoric of a “post-COVID world,” hauntingly reminiscent of the “post-9/11 world.” However, unlike the tangible event of 9/11, COVID is a threat of an entirely different nature, an “invisible enemy.”

 

The enemy isn’t “out there” to defeat in the old-fashioned way, with bombs and machine guns. But all the same, its pervasiveness renders us into a constant state of paranoia. Even our loved ones become potential threats; we all pose a risk to those around us, therefore perpetrating the omnipresent danger.

 

To use the post-9/11 term, we are all terrorists. That’s why we must stay under house arrest until a treatment is produced to save us from ourselves. The alphabet agencies even gave us a script: we’re supposed to play the part of Sleeping Beauty as we await Prince Charming’s cure for our mysterious ailment.

 

But the problem with fairytales is they fall apart under scrutiny; we struggle to believe in the knight in shining armor because experience has taught us again and again that he doesn’t exist.

 

So it is with tales spun by government officials. The real Sleeping Beauty still needs to pay the bills, and a check of $1200 simply won’t do. She doesn’t have time to wait around for Bill Gates to unveil the miracle vaccine.

 

And by the time he does, who will still believe the fairytale? As fatalities continue not to skyrocket and hospitals are underwhelmed, life goes on….Everyday events begin to overshadow media induced hysteria. The spell breaks; the masquerade ends.

 

Yet the question remains: will the sociopolitical climate restabilize after the invisible enemy’s defeat? We’ve entered a Brave New Normal, we are repeatedly told. Life so eerily resembles the flick Contagion that we might be tempted to fast-forward and spoil the ending.

Fauci warns overextending coronavirus lockdowns could cause ‘irreparable damage’

 

Imposing coronavirus lockdowns for too long could cause “irreparable damage,” said the White House’s top doctor Anthony Fauci Friday.

 

Fauci believes many parts of the country are ready for “cautious” and “prudent” reopenings, though he warned that guidelines for social distancing and mask-wearing must still be adhered to, he said during an appearance on CNBC Friday.

 

“We can’t stay locked down for such a considerable period of time that you might do irreparable damage and have unintended consequences, including consequences for health,” he said.

 

The National Institutes for Health official has taken heat from Republican lawmakers for appearing to lobby against President Trump’s calls for reopening.

 

Fauci on Friday said that although state lockdowns are effective as long as cases are surging, the country has hit a point where some regions could begin reopening.

 

“We are enthusiastic about reopening and I think we can do it in a pace that would be reasonable and would get us back as a society from a morale standpoint as well as the economy,” he said.

 

“I don’t want people to think that any of us feel that staying locked down for a prolonged period of time is the way to go.”

 

Fauci said he was still worried about localities reopening so long as cases continue to rise; he urged such areas to limit crowds.

 

“If states and cities and counties are going to [open] no matter what, I would recommend that they take very specific precautions in doing that,” he said. “You can still proceed to open, so long as you do those fundamental baseline things.

 

“But in general, I think most of the country is doing it in a prudent way,” he went on.

 

“There are obviously some situations where people might be jumping over that. I just say proceed with caution if you’re going to do that.”

 

Fauci during his Congressional testimony last week predicted greater “suffering and death” from the coronavirus if certain states reopen businesses too hastily.

 

Health experts have dismissed the idea of COVID-19 herd immunity, but the timeline for a vaccine rollout is still uncertain.

 

Fauci has remained upbeat — during an interview with NPR earlier Friday he said it is “conceivable” that a vaccine could come by the end of the year.

A San Diego federal judge Friday dismissed a $10 million defamation lawsuit filed by the owners and operators of San Diego-based One America News Network against MSNBC and political commentator Rachel Maddow.

Last summer, the liberal host told her viewers that the Trump-friendly conservative network “really literally is paid Russian propaganda.”

U.S. District Judge Cynthia Bashantdismissed Herring Networks’ suit with prejudice, ruling “there is no set of facts that could support a claim for defamation based on Maddow’s statement,” made during a July 22, 2019, segment of her show.

Robert Herring Sr., the 78-year-old owner and founder of the Trump-friendly network based in San Diego, told Times of San Diego that he would appeal the ruling.

“After I’ve seen several things that [Bashant’s] said and some of the things she’s done in the past, I wasn’t surprised at all,” Herring said.

A new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that you’re highly unlikely to contract the coronavirus by touching contaminated surfaces. But will that turn out to be yet another mistake?

 

Because it’s become hard to trust the CDC on anything, given its repeated screw-ups amid the pandemic.

 

Early in February, the agency sent out coronavirus tests across the country — but labs soon found they were unreliable. The CDC had to reverse course and ask labs to send all samples to its Atlanta HQ for testing, setting the nation back days at a crucial time.

 

And it wasn’t until March 3 that the CDC lifted its final restrictions to allow tests beyond its own flawed ones.

 

The missteps kept up. For months, the CDC told Americans that only those who know they’re sick should wear face masks to prevent the virus’ spread. On April 3, it flipped, saying everyone should wear a mask if social distancing isn’t possible.

 

Fresh reason to doubt the agency’s pronouncements came this week, with another unbelievable bungle: It turned out that CDC data — relied on by states for reopening decisions — don’t measure what everyone thought. It’s been mixing the results of viral tests, which show who has a current case of COVID, and antibody tests, which show who has ever had the bug. The tests are administered for different reasons and provide different info.

 

Epidemiologists were flabbergasted that the CDC was combining the two results in its tracking — especially since the agency’s COVID Data Tracker website had claimed as recently as May 18 that the numbers didn’t include the results of antibody tests.

 

Americans are sacrificing a lot based on CDC guidance. It needs to get its act together so the public can trust its edicts.

Physicians: ‘Forcing Healthy Americans to Quarantine Inflicted Devastating Harm’

 

Hundreds of American physicians have signed onto a letter addressed to Vice President Mike Pence and the Coronavirus Task Force that urges the total reopening of the nation’s businesses and schools.

 

The letter states that, while they value every life that has indeed been lost due to the infection caused by the Chinese coronavirus, the physicians assert the evidence that now exists indicates the lockdowns have “not been necessary to save lives but instead inflicted devastating harm on 10s of millions of people.”

 

“We CAN treat the sick and protect the vulnerable without social and economic lockdown,” reads the letter, led by healthcare providers from the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS).

 

The doctors bring several points to light.

 

“This virus is survivable by greater than 99% of those infected,” they observe. “For those under 60, the estimated infection fatality rate is 0.05%. On average, the infection fatality rate is 0.2%.”

 

In addition, about 80 percent of those infected with COVID-19 “have no symptoms or mild symptoms at most,” they continue.

 

“We now know that a well-defined subset of the population is vulnerable to severe illness or death by COVID-19,” the doctors say, specifically noting nursing home patients, who suffer psychologically as well because they are isolated from family members.

 

The physicians take to task the media which they accuse of “terrifying people, creating crippling fear that has drained the life out of our society.”

 

They add that “public health officials and administrators” have also been “interfering with medical decision-making,” and specifically cite some elected officials and state boards that have “prevented the use of safe and FDA approved medications” that treat the COVID-19 infection.

 

“Physicians are also pressured to count deaths in a way that inflates the true infection fatality rate,” the signers assert.

 

The doctors note that “natural widespread immunity can be achieved safely without waiting for a vaccine” when otherwise healthy individuals contract the virus and immunity builds over time. The physicians stress, however, that those who are especially vulnerable to serious illness or death should be identified and protected whenever possible.

 

Finally, they urge the task force and elected officials to avoid mass testing of citizens as a means to “create policy that restricts an individual’s livelihood and freedom to participate in society.”

 

“[A]nd absolutely,” they add, testing “should not be used to threaten businesses and counties with repeated closure.”

 

“We cannot accept the current dysfunction in society as the ‘new normal,’” the doctors conclude. “Our goal is to lead with hope and courage instead of fear and confusion … Our medical professionals are ready to serve this nation according to the time-honored Hippocratic Oath that calls us to serve with respect and compassion and, above all, to do no harm.”

Marcel Ospel, Architect of the Swiss Bank UBS, Is Dead at 70

 

Marcel Ospel, who fashioned the Swiss bank UBS into a global banking power but then saw it come close to unraveling during the financial crisis of 2008, died on April 26 at his home in Wollerau, Switzerland, near Zurich. He was 70.

 

The cause was cancer, his wife, Adriana Ospel-Bodner, said.

 

Mr. Ospel rose from modest origins to become the leading figure in Swiss banking in the early years of this century — and, for a time, one of the top financial executives of his generation. His crowning achievement was engineering the merger in 1998 of Swiss Bank Corporation, which he headed, with Union Bank of Switzerland, creating the wealth management giant UBS.

 

As UBS’s first chief executive, Mr. Ospel sought to parlay the bank’s status as the largest player in the cozy and secretive Swiss banking world into a position as a leading global wealth manager and investment bank. As part of that effort he acquired the big American brokerage firm PaineWebber in 2000.

 

Like rival executives at other banks, including Deutsche Bank in Germany and Barclays in Britain, Mr. Ospel championed investment banking and trading in sophisticated financial products, like derivatives. He also helped usher in an era of large salaries and bonuses for himself and other bankers, which exposed him to criticism when the business soured.

 

When the financial crisis hit in 2008, UBS found itself stuck with large losses in American financial products like mortgage-backed securities. The bank was forced to accept a bailout by the Swiss central bank in 2008. That same year, Mr. Ospel, who had moved up to the chairmanship in 2001 but was still active in guiding the bank, resigned amid much criticism over the bank’s need to be rescued.

 

The next year, UBS agreed to pay fines and other penalties of $780 million to settle a case in which it was accused of helping American clients evade taxes. As part of the deal, the bank agreed to turn over information on potential tax evaders to the American authorities, thus piercing Switzerland’s cherished bank secrecy.

 

As an executive at that bank in the 1990s, he was involved in buying O’Connor, a Chicago derivatives house; S.G. Warburg, a British investment bank; and Brinson Partners, an American wealth management firm — deals that appeared to give the Swiss bank the confidence to move on to bigger game when Mr. Ospel ultimately took charge of it.

 

After leaving UBS, Mr. Ospel kept a low profile, spending time with Ms. Ospel-Bodner, whom he married in 2005, and their twins, a son and daughter, who also survive him, as do two sons and two daughters from two previous marriages.

Bring Grandma-Killing Governors to Justice

 

In April, Governor Gretchen Whitmer posed and primped on The Daily Show in a “That Woman from Michigan” t-shirt as a narcissistic slam at President Trump. That same month, that woman from Michigan issued an executive order, that the Daily Show and SNL didn’t mention, "protecting" residents of long-term care facilities, by forcing nursing homes to admit patients infected with the coronavirus. Her order dictated that a "long-term care facility must not prohibit admission or readmission of a resident based on COVID-19 testing requirements or results" and told hospitals to discharge coronavirus patients back to the homes they had come from. Some nursing homes were designated as ‘hubs’ and coronavirus patients were transferred into them, even though these facilities had uninfected residents. Despite claims that these ‘hubs’ would carefully separate infected and uninfected patients, that didn’t always happen. While there had been a plan to move coronavirus seniors to the 1,000 bed TCF Center in Detroit which was being used as an overflow hospital for coronavirus patients, they were instead sent to nursing homes. The TCF Center only ended up treating 39 patients before being mothballed. As of now, at least 687 nursing home residents in Michigan have died in the pandemic and 290 coronavirus patients have been placed in Michigan nursing homes. These numbers are incomplete. Next time, Governor Whitmer goes on the Daily Show, she can wear a new t-shirt, “Grandma Killer”.

 

In New York, Governor Cuomo’s Health Department had issued an order on March 25th to "expand hospital capacity" by forcing nursing homes to "comply with the expedited receipt of residents returning from hospitals to NHs" and warned facilities that, "no resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to the NH solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19." It took over 5,000 deaths for Cuomo to partially reverse his grandma-killing policy which had killed 5% of residents of nursing homes in the state. It was a partial reversal, because nursing homes still couldn’t remove infected patients, but hospitals were no longer allowed to discharge infected patients to homes. Cuomo has argued that no one should be prosecuted for nursing home deaths because they would have died anyway. “Older people… are going to die from this virus,” he argued, dismissing the outrage of the families of the dead. “I don't think there's any logical rationale to say that they would be alive today.” "We've tried everything to keep it out of a nursing home, but it's virtually impossible," he falsely claimed. His grandma-killing administration had tried everything, except providing protective equipment, not sending infected patients into nursing homes, or removing infected patients from nursing homes. Cuomo had tried everything to stop killing grandmas, except not killing grandmas.

Kennedy who was otherwise close to Israel was furious with its ostensible nuclear weapons program, fearing that the Soviet Union could use it as leverage to maintain its influence in the Middle East.

 

Eshkol, caught off guard by the tone of the telegram, took seven weeks to assent, and the twice-yearly inspections continued until 1969 when President Richard Nixon ended them.

 

Also revealed in the trove of documents the NSA posted is the origin of Israel’s oft-repeated credo that it would not be the first to introduce nuclear weapons — a deliberately ambiguous statement that left Israel room to develop the weapons, but not arm them.

 

Shimon Peres, then the deputy defense minister who later would lead the country as prime minister for two stints and then become president, improvised the statement when he was surprised by Kennedy during a meeting Peres had scheduled with Kennedy’s adviser, Myer Feldman, who also functioned as the administration’s liaison to Israel and the U.S. Jewish community. Unbeknownst to Peres, Kennedy and Feldman had planned the “surprise” encounter.

 

According to a Hebrew-language Foreign Ministry of Israel account of the April 2 meeting, Kennedy asked Peres into the Oval Office for 30 minutes and questioned him on Israel’s nuclear capacity.

 

“You know that we follow very closely the discovery of any nuclear development in the region,” Kennedy said. “This could create a very dangerous situation. For this reason, we monitor your nuclear effort. What could you tell me about this?”

 

Peres improvised, “I can tell you most clearly that we will not introduce nuclear weapons to the region, and certainly we will not be the first.”

The whole point of the creation of nuclear weapons under the Manhattan Project was to destroy the “evil” Nazis who threatened the Rothschild economic stranglehold over Europe. Luckily for all Europeans, the Germans were defeated before the Jews could get their hands on any nukes, because Germany was the primary target for “the bomb”, not Japan, which had been making diplomatic overtures of surrender in early 1945.. So it was only natural that the Jews were going to arm their new State of Israel, just as they armed their co-ethnics in Soviet Russia, with nukes to keep the rest of the world in line.

 

The ever-naive Kennedy actually believed that he could tell the Jews that they would never have nuclear weapons as long as he was President. And despite his suspicions, he had no choice but to hire Myron Feldman, who acted as an Israeli spy in the White House, betraying JFK’s confidence to the Israelis. He should have known that the Jews would never accept a situation where they could not only defend themselves, but also threaten to destroy the entire planet if anyone seriously threatened the Jews, and that included their American “allies”, as the Kennedy family discovered not just once, but a number of times. And so this article serves as a “subtle” reminder to any world leaders today not the mess with Israel.

Plaintiffs' attorney Paul Jonna argued the state's plan makes "arbitrary exceptions" in recently opening certain industries under Stage 2, while churches are characterized as "higher-risk workplaces" under Stage 3.

Jonna said South Bay United is not asking for a complete return to normal services and would abide by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines regarding social distancing, masks and other precautions against the virus.

 

"For the millions of faithful in California, religion is needed in these times more than ever," Jonna said. "It might be hard for governing officials to understand, especially if they're hostile to religion or don't see its relevance, or if they think it's `low reward.' But to Bishop Hodges and millions of Californians, free exercise of religion is eternally important. To them, it's the most essential of activities."

 

In denying the church's request for an injunction halting enforcement of the ban on religious gatherings, U.S. District Judge Cynthia Bashant said the state's order placed churches under Stage 3 because "the services involve people sitting together in a closed environment for long periods of time."

 

The judge noted that similar restrictions have been placed on a variety of secular industries and that alternatives such as drive-in and remote services remain in place for people to engage in worship activities.

 

"Individuals can practice religion in whatever way they wish, as long as they're not sitting with each other in large groups inside," she said.

 

The judge also referenced her prior ruling in a case brought by a Campo church that sought to open its doors for Easter Sunday services.

 

Abiding Place Ministries sued San Diego County and challenged its public health order under similar allegations, but Bashant denied the church's request to reopen two days before Easter.

 

"The state may limit an individuals' right to freely exercise his religious beliefs when faced with a serious health crisis such as the one we're facing now with COVID-19," the judge said. "The right to practice religion freely does not include the liberty to expose the community to communicable disease or to ill health or death."

 

Deputy Attorney General Todd Grabarsky said the reopening plan remained a "work in progress" that was subject to adjustments based on the developing status of COVID-19.

 

He said the state deems faith-based services as essential and has authorized faith leaders to leave home "to provide congregants with worship opportunities," such as the alternatives Bashant outlined.

First of all the President in recent polls went from 6% voting for him in the last election, In the last poll Increased 36% support of blacks, the majority men, were pro trump.

 

And we know Trump loves all people without any racial intent. So Biden just drove away at least, by my estimation at least 40% of the black voters that were going to vote democrat. So just to be very conservative Trump will get the highest black vote without being black, I’d say conservatively a 45% in the next election. Further I’ve lived in Georgia since 91, Vernon Jones is a well known and a radical democrat, he got himself into a lot of trouble here in the last 20 years, but he’s got the majority black support. So when all the Democrats tried to destroy him last month they all saw it as a betrayal of a black Democrat. The black citizens only supported the democrat agenda because of leaders like Vernon Jones.

 

So now Trump has a majority of support in Georgia because:

WASHINGTON - The Trump administration has discussed whether to conduct the first U.S. nuclear test explosion since 1992 in a move that would have far-reaching consequences on relations with other nuclear powers and reverse a decades-long moratorium on such actions, said a senior administration official and two former officials familiar with the deliberations.

A senior administration official, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the sensitive nuclear discussions, said that demonstrating to Moscow and Beijing that the United States could "rapid test" could prove useful from a negotiating standpoint as Washington seeks a trilateral deal to regulate the arsenals of the biggest nuclear powers.

The meeting did not conclude with any agreement to conduct a test, but a senior administration official said the proposal is "very much an ongoing conversation." Another person familiar with the meeting, however, said a decision was ultimately made to take other measures in response to threats posed by Russia and China and avoid a resumption of testing.

The National Security Council declined to comment.

During the meeting, serious disagreements emerged over the idea, in particular from the National Nuclear Security Administration, according to two people familiar with the discussions. The NNSA, an agency that ensures the safety of the nation's stockpile of nuclear weapons, didn't respond to a request for comment.

The United States has not conducted a nuclear test explosion since September 1992, and nuclear nonproliferation advocates warned that doing so now could have destabilizing consequences.

"It would be an invitation for other nuclear-armed countries to follow suit," said Daryl Kimball, executive director of the Arms Control Association. "It would be the starting gun to an unprecedented nuclear arms race. You would also disrupt the negotiations with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who may no longer feel compelled to honor his moratorium on nuclear testing."

The United States remains the only country to have deployed a nuclear weapon during wartime, but more than 8,000 nuclear tests have been conducted since 1945 by at least eight countries.

The environmental and health-related consequences of nuclear testing moved the process underground, eventually leading to near-global moratorium on testing in this century with the exception of North Korea. Concerns about the dangers of testing prompted more than 184 nations to sign the Nuclear Testing and Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, an agreement that will not enter into force until ratified by eight key states, including the United States.

President Barack Obama supported the ratification of the CTBT in 2009 but never realized his goal. The Trump administration said it would not seek ratification in its 2018 Nuclear Posture Review.

Still, the major nuclear powers abide by its core prohibition on testing. But the United States in recent months has alleged Russia and China have violated the "zero yield" standard with extremely low-yield or underground tests, not the type of many-kiloton yield tests with mushroom clouds associated with the Cold War. Russia and China deny the allegation.

Since establishing a moratorium on testing in the early 1990s, the United States has ensured that its nuclear weapons are ready to be deployed by conducting what are known as subcritical tests - or blasts that do not produce a nuclear chain reaction but can test components of a weapon.

U.S. nuclear weapons facilities have also developed robust computer simulation technologies that allow for modeling of nuclear tests to ensure the arsenal is ready to deploy.

The main purpose of nuclear tests has long been to check the reliability of an existing arsenal or try out new weapon designs. Every year, top U.S. officials, including the heads of the national nuclear labs and the commander of U.S. Strategic Command, must certify the safety and reliability of the stockpile without testing. The Trump administration has said that, unlike Russia and China, it isn't pursuing new nuclear weapons but reserves the right to do so if the two countries refuse to negotiate on their programs.

SAN DIEGO — A San Diego federal judge on Tuesday ruled that the Trump administration’s so-called asylum ban does not apply to migrants who had already been waiting in line in Mexican border cities for their official chance to ask for protections in the U.S. when the policy took effect in mid-July.

The preliminary injunction affects potentially tens of thousands of migrants and will give them a chance to have their asylum claims heard.

 

In issuing the order, U.S. District Judge Cynthia Bashant emphasized she was not being asked to rule on the legality of the asylum ban — that question is being handled in other lawsuits — nor was she being asked to make determinations as to the merits of asylum claims. Rather, this was a question of whether the government was applying its own policy correctly.

 

In a strongly worded opinion, she concluded the administration had gotten it wrong.

 

The third-country asylum ban requires non-Mexican asylum seekers to first apply for protection in other countries that they passed through, such as Mexico. If they are denied, only then can they apply for asylum in the U.S.

 

In Mexico, migrants must apply for asylum within 30 days of arriving in the country.

 

When the policy went into effect on July 16, it clashed with another government policy, called “metering,” in which only a set number of asylum seekers are accepted formally into the U.S. on any given day. Typically, when asylum seekers arrive at the border, they are told to get on a wait list that is managed by various organizations in Mexico.

 

The wait can take several weeks, even months.

 

Suddenly, migrants who’d been turned back to wait under the U.S. “metering” policy were told that they were no longer eligible to be heard. For many, the 30-day window to apply for asylum in Mexico had already passed.

 

The judge said the asylum seekers relied on the government’s representations that if they returned and waited in Mexico as instructed, they would eventually have an opportunity to make a claim in the U.S. Later holding those migrants ineligible because of the asylum ban represents “a shift that can be considered, at best, misleading, and at worst, duplicitous,” Bashant said.

 

Attorneys for the government had argued that the asylum ban applies to all those who are arriving to the U.S. — officially entering the port of entry’s turnstiles — not those waiting in Mexico. But Bashant had already rejected that interpretation of “arriving” in an earlier order.

 

Instead, those who present themselves to border authorities even if they are turned away and told to wait should be considered in the process of arriving. Therefore, someone who arrived at the border in June but whose name was not called up on the list for entry into the U.S. until August should not be limited by the asylum ban, according to the preliminary injunction.

 

“The wording of the asylum ban is clear. … The government’s position that the asylum ban applies to those who attempted to enter or arrived at the southern border seeking asylum before July 16, 2019 contradicts the plain text of their own regulation,” the judge wrote.

 

Bashant on Tuesday also provisionally certified a class to which the preliminary injunction applies: “All non-Mexican asylum-seekers who were unable to make a direct asylum claim at a U.S. (port of entry) before July 16, 2019, because of the government’s metering policy, and who continue to seek access to the U.S. asylum process.”

 

It’s unclear exactly how many people are eligible for relief.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said, “I have not spoken to the president about that, but who I did speak to about the unmasking of Michael Flynn were the people in this room. I haven’t spoken to him about that specific point. Have spoken to him about the matter generally, and I laid out a series of questions that any good journalist would want answers to about why people were unmasked.”

 

McEnany went on to attack the media, and even broke out slides to push a conspiracy theory.

 

Obama never wiretapped Trump or Trump Tower. It didn’t happen. Barack Obama didn’t commit any crimes, so there is no reason for him to need a pardon. The Obamagate scandal has been debunked. Michael Flynn was never masked, so he wasn’t unmasked.

 

The White House has elevated conservative propaganda outfits like One America News to be able to ask questions at the press briefings because that is the only way that they will be able to inject questions loaded with conspiracies and misinformation into the briefings and mislead the American people.

 

The pattern for these briefings is that McEnany will at some point do her little song and dance and then end the briefing.

"It is obvious that Gov. Noem knows little about the limited authority she and the state government have in Indian country," Gary Pitchlynn, an attorney and law professor at the University of Oklahoma, told NBC News. Senator Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) and Congressmen Mike Pompeo (R., Kan.) issued a press release yesterday on a startling discovery they made during a July 17 meeting with International Atomic Energy Agency officials in Vienna: There are two secret side deals to the nuclear agreement with Iran that will not be shared with other nations, with Congress, or with the U.S. public.

 

This is especially troublesome for the PMD issue. I wrote in National Review on June 15 and June 17 that the Obama administration was trying to find a way to let Iran off the hook for past nuclear weapons-related work. It seems to have found a way to do this with a secret procedure shielded from the American public and the U.S. Congress.

 

What do Obama administration officials know about these secret agreements? A source who was in the Cotton-Pompeo meeting told me that IAEA officials gave a vague answer to this question that “Secretary Kerry was told about the agreements.”

 

Congressman Pompeo said in the press release, “This agreement is the worst of backroom deals.” I agree with Pompeo, but I also worry about whether there are other side deals associated with the Iran agreement that Pompeo and Cotton were not told about.
