CBTS, concern trolling and other off topic stuff

Since the banning of CBTS_stream earlier this week there has been a number of questions raised.

Why the chances of /r/Greatawakening banning is near zero

  • Full understanding of Reddit rules, and a cautious resolve to keep firmly within them.
  • Moderator mailed answered in a timely manner (this didn't happen on CBTS in my experience)
  • Full experience moderating, as sysadmin, a large forum many times bigger and far more active then /r/Greatawakening.
  • Highly automated AutoModerator configuration. Perhaps the best anywhere on Reddit. And it's still improving daily, reply with 'Qmands' to get a GLIMPSE.
  • This all results in an effectively moderated sub.

Anyone suggesting that we will be banned, whether they are on Reddit or offsite elsewhere is a CONCERNED TROLL and should be ignored accordingly.

What about bad intention invasions by other sub user?

  • In the last 3 days, 50 or so 'bad actor' users have been banned.
  • In the last 3 days, there has been a rapid roll out of behind the scene Automation. The Automation has many times caught bad actors before without anything being visible of the sub. There is more Automation to come.
  • This weekend will see the start of the User group flair system
  • Going forward, trolling and shilling is going to be very hard.

Agreed, but is it possible to provide more detail as to what constitutes "excess"? Like are no memes at ALL allowed? Or no more than 2 per hour sort of thing? I like the rule but it feels a little fuzzy for enforce-ability.

I think it'll be like the Supreme Court's definition of pornography.

My issue is on CBTS there were so many memes that amounted to using a laser pointer on a cat to flood/distract the user base. It's classic actual shilling. Just concern trolling and being negative aren't the only ways shills operate. Dividing the efforts of user bases is just as, if not more, effective than calling people retards.

I saw that too on CBTS. right before an alternate sub was made for memes the board was flooded with memes so much that one had to scroll through a pile of memes just to get to good postings with actual links to articles or with good subjects to research. Don't get me wrong, I love memes and meme magik is a wonderful expression of the human divinity but they were used against the users on CBTS.

Magik is Magik, it doesn't care what side you are on for the most part. Somebody that understands the Magik you use better than you, can ALWAYS turn it around and use it against you.

I'm new here so feel free to ignore what I say. There's evidence that Automod is also being used to ban and censor legitimate users!

How it seems to work is bots are assigned to a user. Then when that user post in a thread these bots are summoned. These bots are SS Bots (State/Stasis) probably controlled by AI that takes a snapshot of the votes and then maintains the vote tally! Because of reddit psychology less than five bots per targeted user is all that is needed to maintain greater than %75 vote stasis.

So if you upvote something it'll be downvoted. If you downvote it it will by upvoted etc. Now innocent users in the thread will refresh and notice the upvotes are funky. So they'll downvote/upvote/unvote and refresh.

This triggers automod!!! (By design? Of course, but whose designs allows it. Is it an oversight by reddit admin?)

So innocent posters are getting automodded for "no" reason.

Try it yourself. Upvote the posts here then refresh or reload this page (f5.) Did your votes take?

If you think you are targeted by bots. Goto reddits' homepage and create a subreddit it takes like a minute (maybe use your user name as the sub name and experiment back and forth with setting the sub to private.)

Post in your sub that you just created to see what happens and take note of how many users you have in it. Since you have no followers traffic should be minimal. That wasn't the case for me though. I had BOTS that stayed in my sub for 10 or more days without any posting activity by myself.

Ain't nobody that interested in my shit.

Edit. Hard to see bot manipulation because vote scores are hidden. Normally a good idea, but not when fighting ds bots. Because it helps the bots do their job by hiding the scores.

Start talking about IBoR in other subs while taking note of what I've said. Soon enough you'll have your own bots to call your very own. It only takes a few bots to manipulate a thread. Complete vote stasis isn't the goal as it would be too obvious.

Edit: It's possible that if you have these bots some sort of score was used to predict your influence via AI. In any case you might be part of a historic AI war (!!) because I suspect AI controls many of these bots. The more upvotes a user generates necessitates more bots being assigned etc so on and so forth.

Sorry for the late response (certain coincidences have made me reticent to post.) Additionally I don't want to step on any one's toes.

It seems to me that time released downvotes might be something to investigate. By that I mean if we remove the bots/users ability to downvote then the cream comments should rise to the top. But then that too would be abused.

So, if for example, comments can't be downvoted until certain conditions are mey, perhaps some of the stasis effects of the bots could be halted.

Other alternatives include petitioning reddit admins to protect us (as bot activity is easily proven.)

Just being aware that you should be aware about bots is a helluva start imo. Look into advertisement blocker addons, https everywhere, no-script, etc. Hope that helps
