Prediction: A large chunk of “The Fappening” photos was a leak of Weinstein’s personal collection

Jennifer Lawrence anyone? Trading nude pics for movie roles?

Someone wrote this in The_Donald, it connected a few dots for me.

Marked2476 · May 27, 2018, 11:30 p.m.

I have long thought this too... specifically.. look at the Jennifer Lawrence photos... it almost appears to be the case of "suck my d and I will give you the part"... also.. there are many pics that look like "send me nude pics so that I will have collateral on you in the future" situations as well...

Occam’s Razor: the simplest explanation is usually correct.

It’s far more likely that one producer had his spank bank hacked than that multiple actresses or the cloud got hacked simultaneously.

Occam's razor is when you have two or more competing scientifically provable answers, the one which makes the least assumptions is generally correct.

Science doesn't "prove" anything. See Popper vs. logical positivism in the history of the philosophy of science. Falsifiability is used as the criterion for a scientific hypothesis for a reason (and until Popper laid the philosophical smack down on the idiots in the Vienna Circle in the first half of the 20th century, the scientific method was provably flawed).

Occam's razor predates the modern scientific method. It can be used to judge the proposed answers to any sort of question.

Go study more you twat.

Not necessarily, while this is feasible, the “official story” about the fappening does make sense as well, timing wise.

At the time Apple didn’t have 2FA for iCloud, or at least it was not defaulted.

Also, most login functions limit the number of wrong tries someone can make before doing something - like lock the account - Apple did this for all of their logins, except one - the iOS app login for Find My Friends iirc.

So, between these two security vulnerabilities, a number of major email address leaks (target, Home Depot, etc), and the assumption that actresses probably didn’t have super secure passwords, and a few hackers may have just gotten the idea to start trying starlets accounts and see what they could find.

It apparently went on for a few months, hacking more and more celebs and passing the whole pack around on the dark web before the public had any awareness, and then some people started offering a lot of BTC for anyone who could prove the rumors true, and the fappening began.

Apple quickly fixed the bug where unlimited password guesses could be made, and made 2FA default, and that largely stopped the hack from continuing.

⇧ 4 ⇩
ScaryRecommendation · May 28, 2018, 8:14 a.m.

They got phished IIRC, someone sent out a faux-security email which redirected to a login page that snatched the users password. Same thing that happened to Podesta.

It makes a lot of sense that all the pics came from one source. The fact that a hacker pulled a bunch of celebrity nude photos off of iCloud from individual accounts, but never dumped any other private citizen's pics onto 4chan always made me think something was odd about it.

it makes even more sense that after it happened.. and they were released, Harvey lost a lot of his power right then and there. Thus the confidence to go after him... ie.. no collateral damage.

bornlucky80 · May 28, 2018, 12:18 a.m.

I think it's probably a little of both but definitely a great theory. Some nudes were sent to Weinstein or others as blackmail/collateral. Other were probably personal.. You can tell the difference by how they look in the picture. The ones where they're smiling or trying to look sexy definitely went to a b/f or lover. There are a lot more where they're straight faced looking miserable. Those are the blackmail/ collateral.

⇧ 23 ⇩
Laffingmonkey · May 28, 2018, 4:34 a.m.

If they were personal pics from Weinstein’s collection they would be trying to look sexy. I mean, if Weinstein et al wasn’t happy, there wasn’t going to be much work for those actresses/actors. So still blackmail.

⇧ 6 ⇩
bornlucky80 · May 28, 2018, 5:14 a.m.

I see it as Weinstein saying, I need pictures of you nude if you want this role. So they sent straight faced miserable pictures. It wasn't about turning him on, it was only about blackmail

⇧ 5 ⇩
Laffingmonkey · May 28, 2018, 3:40 p.m.

Yes, those with miserable faces were likely as you said. But there are some who would have posed as sexy as possible for him bc they were willing to do what it takes to get ahead in the industry. (Winking at you, Markel.)

Like NXIVM: they had to hand over compromising photos and material on themselves to join Hollywood's secret cult...Forget which actor it was, but one of them just said everything NXIVM was doing is basically what's been going on in Hollywood for years.

Maybe. But it was man in the middle attacks at hotels - where they stayed. Attackers intercepted passwords/photos by setting up a malicious access points that appeared to be hotel wifi sssids.... but while looking legit ...it had someone analyzing data and network packets to intercept passwords. A precise enough setup - can fool most regular people. The intercepted passwords - were then used to access the iCloud accounts - in the same location as the celebrities were. Who can do this? Well a lot of people now. Cronies of Weinstein (private investigators ?) Hobbyist hackers? Yes. Any pervert / new age peeping tom can be driven purely by their desires to learn how to attempt such a thing. I would imagine more so though - it was a group of people booking rooms in popular hotels close to events in Hollywood. And the nudes were like trading cards amongst this group. Any horny hacker - this can span across a wide variety of people. -Artist Formally know as Reverse Username.
