I loved the series and yes, many of us had noticed the truths hidden in the original V series. I was so glad when the remake was announced but the first episodes angered me and kept me in that state to the end.

The original series if you will is the story from the white hats standpoint.

McCone served for more than twenty years as a governmental adviser and official, including head positions at the Atomic Energy Commission in the Eisenhower Administration in 1958–1961 and with

the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the Kennedy Administration and the Lyndon B. Johnson Administration in 1961–1965.

However, it would be his service in 1950–1951, as the 2nd United States Under Secretary of the Air Force that John McCone got his first taste of duty in the senior levels of the U.S. Government

during the Truman Administration."

"After the disaster of the Bay of Pigs Invasion, President John F. Kennedy[6] forced the resignation of CIA director Allen Dulles and some of his staff.

McCone replaced Dulles as DCI on November 29, 1961.[7]

He married Theiline McGee Pigott on August 29, 1962, at St. Anne's Chapel of the Sacred Heart Villa in Seattle, Washington.[8]

McCone was not Kennedy's first choice; the President had tentatively offered the job to Clark Clifford, his personal lawyer, who politely refused (Clifford would later serve as Secretary of Defense

for Lyndon Johnson); and then to Fowler Hamilton, a Wall Street lawyer with experience in government service during the Roosevelt and Truman administrations. Hamilton accepted, but when a problem

developed at the Agency for International Development, he was shifted there.[9] Thus Kennedy, urged on by his brother Robert, turned to McCone.[9]

He was a key figure in the Executive Committee of the National Security Council (EXCOMM) during the October 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. In the Honeymoon telegram of September 20, 1962,

he insisted that the CIA remain imaginative when it came to Soviet weapons policy towards Cuba, as a September 19 National Intelligence Estimate had concluded it unlikely that nuclear missiles

would be placed on the island. The telegram was so named because McCone sent it while on his honeymoon in Paris, France, accompanied not only by his bride, Theiline McGee Pigott but by a CIA cipher team.[10]

McCone's suspicions of the inaccuracy of this assessment proved to be correct, as it was later found out the Soviet Union had followed up its conventional military buildup with the installation of

MRBMs (Medium Range Ballistic Missiles) and IRBMs (Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles), sparking off the crisis in October when they were later spotted by CIA's Lockheed U-2 surveillance flights.

While McCone was DCI, the CIA was involved in many covert plots; according to Admiral Stansfield Turner (who himself later served as DCI from 1977 to 1981, under President Jimmy Carter), these included:[11]

In the Dominican Republic, the CIA had armed an assassination plot to take out President Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina. After the Bay of Pigs, Kennedy wanted the project stopped because

it was too soon for another debacle. The problem is that once you encourage and arm a group of highly motivated locals, you can't just turn them off. Trujillo's enemies gunned him down dramatically,

though technically speaking without U.S. help.

In Laos, the CIA backed the Hmong (then known by the derogatory name Meo) people of the highlands to fight a counterinsurgency. This set off a complicated three-way civil war that hit the Hmong hard.

In Ecuador, the CIA helped overthrow President José Velasco Ibarra. His replacement didn't last long before the CIA turned on him, looking for greater stability and allegiance.

"John Alex McCone was born in Los Angeles on 4th January, 1902. A child of Scotch-Irish parents, he was raised a devout Roman Catholic.

McCord studied engineering at Berkeley, where he met Stephen D. Bechtel, his future business partner. Following graduation, McCone found work at the Llewellyn Iron Works.

He started off as a riveter but by the age of 26 he had become construction manager.

In 1931 McCone was appointed sales manager for Consolidated Steel. The company was in financial difficulty but McCone came to the rescue when he sold 55 million tons of steel to a

group of Californian businessmen building the Boulder Dam (later renamed the Hoover Dam). This group of businessmen included Henry J. Kaiser and Stephen D. Bechtel.

In 1937, McCone left Consolidated Steel to join Bechtel and Kaiser. Initially they established the Bechtel-McCone Corporation. Over the next few years the three men formed several

companies with them taking it in turn to become the front man. In some cases, they remained silent partners in these business ventures.

The first major customer of Bechtel-McCone was Standard Oil of California (Socal). The company obtained a contract to build Socal’s new refinery in Richmond. It was the first of many

refineries built by Bechtel-McCone. By 1939 the company had more than 10,000 employees and was building refineries, chemical plants and pipelines all over the world.

In the summer of 1940 McCone and Stephen D. Bechtel had a meeting with Admiral Howard L. Vickery of the U.S. Maritime Commission. Vickery told the men he “had received a telegram from

the British Purchasing Commission (BPC) urgently requesting that the Maritime Commission arrange the building of 60 tankers to replace the ships the British had lost to German torpedoes”.

At another meeting a few weeks later, Maritime Commission chairman, Admiral Emory S. Land, told Bechtel and McCone that: “Besides building ships for the British,

they would have to build them for the Americans as well. Not merely tankers, but Liberty and Victory cargo ships, troop transports, the whole makings of a merchant navy.”

Admiral Land confidently added that thousands of vessels would be needed as “America was headed into war.”

As a result of these two meetings, Bechtel, McCone and Kaiser built shipyards at Richmond and Sausalito. Several of their companies were involved in this project that became known as

“Operation Calship”. This included Kaiser Company (78 ships), Kaiser-Swan Island (140 ships) and Kaiser-Vancouver (118 ships).

It was a terrible gamble because at that time they were relying on the predictions of Admiral Emory S. Land. However, Land was right and only a month after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor,

the Maritime Commission awarded Calship its first shipbuilding contract. Within a year, Calship was employing over 42,000 workers at its shipyards.

In 1942 McCone and Stephen D. Bechtel obtained a contract to build aircraft at Willow Run in Alabama. The War Department agreed to pay all the company’s costs plus 5 percent on work estimates

presented by Bechtel-McCone every six months. A 300-acre factory was built and 8,000 employees hired to staff it. However, no aircraft were built. Employees were paid for doing nothing.

A local man, George P. Alexander, discovered details of this scam and collected affidavits from workers who admitted that they “went in every day at 9.00, punched the time clock, then went home”.

They then returned to the factory at 5.00 to “punch out”.

Alexander filed suit against Bechtel-McCone in federal district court on 31st July, 1943. He claimed that the company had made “many and various claims against the government of the United States,

or a department or officer thereof, knowing such claims to be false, fictitious or fraudulent.” However, the judge dismissed the case. The problem was with the contract, not the claims by Bechtel-McCone.

As John McCone admitted to Fortune Magazine on 17th May, 1943: “Every six months, we estimate how much work we expect to do in the next six months and then we get a fee of five percent of the estimated

amount of work regardless of how much work we actually do turn out.”

LONG SERIOUS VERSION

Recently, an anon posted a group of messages from bakers who met on an old baking thread in hopes of finding a place they could talk confidentally. Normally, they would talk on /bakers meta/, but for many days, any conversations there have been spammed umercifully on /qresearch/ along with negative commentary designed to make it appear that the posters were saying and doing things against the interests of /qresearch/. The caps of these conversations was voluminous -and in very small text- such that few readers would actually blow it up to look at the details. Instead, they would likely just read the red-text commentary. Red text is also more likely to be remembered than ordinary text.

This activity has been carried out by a small group headed by a person or group known as OSS. They had been using a variety of psychological techniques to harass, intimidate, and threaten all bakers who refuse to agree to their radical new plan for managing the breads on /qresearch/. We believe based on evidence recently found that this is not just a group, but a team - a team using the Tavistock-style methods developed specifically to break down the will of one's opponents through fear, intimidation, and gaslighting techniques.

Examples:

creating mutual distrust among target group members (internal dissension)
pitting one against one another (anons against bakers)
portraying targets as members of a hostile group (bakers union, mossad, aflb, payseur, paytriots)
taking innocent remarks out of context (see above)
making targets feel that they are being watched 24/7(posting all convos on /qr/)
using ridicule, name-calling and ugly memes to portary the targets as less than human

In addition, this same OSS group has fabricated evidence that certain bakers were involved in a posting a letter bomb threat, a very serious crime that could involve grave legal consequences. These bakers were immediately labeled criminals, with OSS group playing the role of judge, jury and executioner. This OSS group also claimed that the FBI had been contacted in order to subject these bakers to extreme psychologoical stress, so they would cease their opposition. They also posted passages from the legal code detailing exactly what happens to criminals convicted of such a serious crime. Finally, they posted the following: \==DSG, GB, AND GYB WILL ALL BE HAPPY IN A FEDERAL-FUCK-ME-IN-THE-ASS-PRISON (see CAP)

Early Wed AM:

Bakers discovered a post that appeared to confirm that /qresearch/ BO @fastjack was cooperating with the OSS team to ensure that, in duplicate bread situations, breads baked by the traditional baker group were the ones locked and deleted rather than those baked by OSS. It looked like BO was right there on the board, ready to act. see CAP. Certainly, the thread was locked much more quickly than usual.

[As many anons are aware, @FastJack has tried to take over qresearch twice in the past, most recently in June 2019. The second time, he did it by first launching a campaign against the kitchen from April to July 2019 to turn anons against the kitchen. Ultimately, he seized complete control on 7-11-19. Then he radically altered the dough, declared that bakers could not longer generate notables, and banished notables to a separate thread. Anons strenuously objected to these actions, but as BO, his position was basically unassailable. Anons turned to the only source they could: Q. Initially, Q strongly suggested that part of the altered dough be restored. Several days later, he said to "Revert the dough" entirely. Much to the joy of QR anons.]

Early Thurs AM:

The traditional bakers discovered that OSS group and @FastJack were likely engaged in some kind of joint project involving /qresearch/. This was extremely concerning. What should be done? To figure this out, they needed to meet again. But this time, confidentially.

One baker thought to meet in an old class bread, #33, where there would be relative privacy. But unbeknownst to him, that thread was already being watched. So when the baker who knew about the surveillance found out the group was gathering there, he went to warn them not to discuss anything further. Tried to think of another place to meet, but time was short. The only thing the arriving baker could think to do was to jump to yet another thread quickly - there to post an email address that could be used if absolutely necessary to communicate. So he volunteered a protonmail address and then deleted the post, so there would be no trace - all the while understanding that there might be watchers but hoping they were otherwise occupied.

That baker was me, gyb/freebaker.

White House installs a campaign veteran at the CIA

Agency veterans say the amorphous role of retired Army Major General Bert Mizusawa, a political ally of the president, is unusual.

A retired major general who served as a 2016 campaign adviser to then-candidate Donald Trump was quietly installed in a senior advisory role at the CIA earlier this year. The move is spurring discussion among some former agency officials, who say the arrangement is highly unusual.

Bert Mizusawa, a decorated retired Army general and a graduate of West Point and Harvard Law School, has been serving as a senior adviser for national security technology and business integration at the CIA since earlier this year, according to two former agency officials familiar with his role. A current U.S. official said Mizusawa has been working out of the office of the agency’s chief operating officer, Andrew Makridis. Mizusawa’s role at CIA has not been previously reported.

A Trump administration official said Mizusawa was assigned the CIA role earlier this year by John McEntee, the 30-year-old director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office who is responsible for filling thousands of jobs across the federal agencies. McEntee came under scrutiny over the summer for grilling government officials about their loyalty to Trump and commitment to carrying out his agenda.

“There are a number of people in the West Wing, including Johnny McEntee and [retired Lieutenant General] Keith Kellogg, who have respect for him given his credentials and loyalty to the president,” the administration official said of Mizusawa.

CIA Press Secretary Tim Barrett said in a statement that Mizusawa “serves as a senior adviser on national security technology, bringing his deep expertise to CIA’s mission. Any notion that he was ‘installed’ here is ridiculous. He went through the normal process for an outside expert hire.” Mizusawa and the White House did not return requests for comment.

It’s not unusual for the spy agency to be led by political allies of the president. But former officials said it seemed strange for the White House to appoint a former campaign surrogate to serve in a CIA role that wasn’t a “7th floor” position — i.e., director, deputy director, general counsel or other top official housed on the top floor of the agency’s Langley, Va. headquarters.

“An outsider with no internal sponsorship?” said one of the former officials. “That never happens.”

Current and former officials say Mizusawa might have been placed there to generally keep an eye on Director Gina Haspel and the inner workings of the agency. He would be positioned to do that from the office of the COO, who is responsible for managing the CIA on a day-to-day basis, they said.

Trump’s former intelligence chief (Dan Coats) told him to be careful with Devin Nunes, book says

President Donald Trump’s first director of national intelligence advised him to be careful with information provided to him by California Rep. Devin Nunes, warning that some of it “turns out to be false,” according to a new book about the Trump administration.

The exchange is detailed in “Rage,” a book about Trump by journalist Bob Woodward. Woodward spoke to Trump in 18 recorded conversations for the book.

The remark about Nunes occurred while Dan Coats was still serving as the Director of National Intelligence, but Woodward doesn’t say exactly when it happened. Coats stepped down from the role in July 2019.

The exchange centers on one of Nunes’ recurring arguments about the 2016 election. Nunes, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, has alleged that Justice Department officials and members of the Obama administration improperly asked for identifying information about Trump allies who were captured on intelligence reports communicating with foreign officials. That process of identifying an American in an intelligence report is known as unmasking.

Coats talked about Nunes after a briefing to Trump about unmasking, according to Woodward. Coats told Trump that unmasking is a routine practice, and Nunes was misleading him, according to the book.

“I know Devin Nunes is trying to be doing everything he can to support you,” Coats reportedly told Trump. “But he passes information to you that turns out to be false. In the end, it hurts you. Devin has told you something that is not true.”

“If you would contact us first so we can verify that, whether it’s true or not, it puts you in a better position,” Coats, a Republican who represented Indiana in the U.S. House and Senate for 24 years, continued. “We could assess whether or not what has been said is backed up by evidence, or factual, before you go public.”

Nunes, R-Tulare, closely aligned himself with Trump early in the administration and has defended Trump both during Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and during Trump’s impeachment.

Since 2019, Nunes has filed seven lawsuits against media organizations and critics alleging they conspired to harm his reputation. He dropped one case against a retired farmer in his district, and judges have dismissed or diminished three others.

Nunes also is suing McClatchy, the owner of the largest newspaper in his district, The Fresno Bee. McClatchy has called the suit a “baseless attack on local journalism.”

Trump did not agree with Coats’ assessment of the San Joaquin Valley congressman, calling Nunes “the most courageous person in town,” according to Woodward. Woodward also noted that Trump has suggested to others that Nunes should get the Congressional Medal of Honor, which is a military award for valor, though Nunes has not served in the military.

Trump has corrected himself after saying that publicly at least once, during a Fox and Friends episode in October 2018. He said he meant the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which the president can award to civilians.

Coats did not return a call seeking comment. Nunes’ office did not respond to a request for comment.

“Rage” is due to publish Tuesday, containing many behind-the-scenes details of the Trump administration. Woodward concludes in the book that he does not think Trump is fit for the presidency.

ROME — Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently published a sharp letter excoriating the Vatican’s plans to renew an agreement with the Chinese government on Church operations in China.

He promoted the article in a tweet, concluding, “The Vatican endangers its moral authority, should it renew the deal.”

An indignant Vatican took the article more as a calculated affront than a diplomatic gesture. The friction broke into the open on Wednesday as Mr. Pompeo arrived in Rome and met with prelates

and others who are hostile to Pope Francis, while the Vatican denied him a meeting with the pontiff and rebuffed his efforts to derail the deal with China.

“Pompeo asked to meet” the pope, who turned him down because Francis had “clearly said that he does not receive political figures ahead of the elections,” Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who,

as secretary of state, is the Vatican’s second-ranking official, told reporters.

But to some observers on both sides of the tensions between the Roman Catholic Church and the Trump administration, Mr. Pompeo’s visit is as much about the coming presidential election as

about China policy. Mr. Pompeo dismissed that suggestion as absurd, but intended or not, his trip signals that President Trump is on the side of those conservative American Catholics who worry

about the church’s direction under Francis and think he is soft on China.

Francis and Mr. Trump, who have exchanged sharp words in the past, present starkly different visions on issues ranging from the environment to immigration to the threat of populism.

In appealing to the Vatican’s support for religious freedom as a reason to drop its China agreement, Mr. Pompeo seemed to seek common ground, but in a way that upset the pope’s chief

Cardinal Parolin said Mr. Pompeo’s article had caused “surprise” at the Vatican, because this visit to Rome by the secretary and the meetings with high officials at the Holy See had already

Previously, Cohen served as the Treasury Department’s Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing, where he was responsible for formulating and coordinating the Department’s counterterrorist financing and anti-money laundering efforts.

Before returning to the Treasury in 2009, Cohen practiced law in private practice for seven years. Cohen first joined the Treasury Department in 1999, working in the Office of the General Counsel as Senior Counsel to the General Counsel, where he was involved in crafting legislation that formed the basis of the Title III of the USA Patriot Act, and the 2001 update to the Bank Secrecy Act. Before his work at Treasury, Cohen practiced law for nine years in the private sector. He received his law degree from Yale Law School and his undergraduate degree from Cornell University. Cohen is scheduled to assume his position as CIA Deputy Director in February.

National leaders would have been able to refer to the international consensus, as demonstrated by WHO policy. WHO, they could have insisted, has determined that family planning and abortion – like clean water, good nutrition, and immunizations – are necessary to protect public health.

Professor Siegel decided to speak out on the subject. As he was involved in the WHO at an early stage, his personal experience provides ample evidence that the Vatican influenced WHO policy development from the outset, during the early period of the Interim Commission in 1946. In its 63-year history, this international health body has had a deplorable record in family planning. Its commitment has been minuscule, and even today family planning accounts for only a tiny fraction of its budget.

Professor Siegel joined the World Health Organization in 1946, when it was still in its formative stages – under the umbrella of the United Nations, created just the year before. Because of his earlier work in North America and the Middle East, he was asked, in effect, to be one of WHO's "founding fathers". So he came on board on the senior staff of the Interim Commission. Dr. Brock Chisholm of Canada was the Executive Director of the Commission, which set up the permanent organization with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Chisholm was chosen to be WHO's first Director General."
