The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is investigating reports of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine causing Guillain-Barre syndrome, as the pharmaceutical company remains embroiled in controversy over the jab’s link to blood clotting.

In a meeting this week, the European Medicines Agency’s Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC) revealed that it was “assessing reports” of the rare immune system disorder being found in people following vaccination.

“As part of the review of the regular pandemic summary safety reports for Vaxzevria, AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine, the PRAC is analysing data provided by the marketing authorization holder on cases of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) reported following vaccination”, the PRAC declared.

“GBS was identified during the marketing authorization process as a possible adverse event requiring specific safety monitoring activities”, the committee continued, adding that it has requested “further detailed data” on the cases and will release new information as it becomes available.

According to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), Guillain-Barre syndrome is a “very rare and serious condition that affects the nerves”, and can create feelings of numbness, weakness, and pain in those who have it.

Though the NHS advises that Guillain-Barre syndrome is a treatable condition and that “most people will eventually make a full recovery”, it can also be life-threatening and leave those who have had it with “long-term problems”

Following hundreds of cases of blood clotting – and dozens of deaths – AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine has already been restricted in many countries to older people only.

In the UK, those under the age of 40 are set to be offered an alternative vaccine provided this causes no “delays” in the vaccination program, however the European Medicines Agency maintains that the vaccine’s benefits outweigh the risk for much of the population.

Bomb blast puts former Maldives president in hospital, as he undergoes surgery to treat shrapnel wounds

Mohamed Nasheed, the former president of the Maldives and the current speaker of the country’s parliament, is undergoing surgery after suffering shrapnel wounds following a bomb blast outside his home on Thursday night.

The injuries were caused when a bomb attached to a motorbike detonated as he left his residence late on Thursday, with the explosion heard across the country’s capital, Male, leaving the 53-year-old with shrapnel wounds.

After he arrived at the medical facility, a spokesperson for Nasheed’s Maldivian Democratic Party confirmed he had been injured but was “stable” amid “ongoing” surgeries.

Footage on social media showed the aftermath of the explosion, with the remains of the damaged motorbike visible and police on the scene to aid those injured.

Bystanders were seen on video providing support to individuals who were caught in the bomb blast, with one person seen on the ground with what appears to be a bandage wrapped around their leg.

After the explosion, the current Maldives president, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, was seen arriving at the ADK hospital where Nasheed was being treated, having held a cabinet meeting earlier in the day and ahead of a nationally televised address on the situation.

Speaking in the wake of the bomb blast, Solih, who is seen as a close political ally of Nasheed, called the explosion an attack on “democracy and economy”, with security being stepped up around the country’s islands.

Arizona Audit Director Ken Bennett joined One America News to discuss the latest developments in the Maricopa County forensic audit.

On Thursday The Gateway Pundit reported on this explosive news from Arizona.

The Maricopa County Election Board claimed this week they do not have ‘Admin’ access to their county’s voting machines.

If this is the case, then the County did not own the election process they ceded it to their external vendor.

System administrators are individuals who have access to the systems at their highest levels. These individuals are able to perform all sorts of duties. They are able to perform most all the functions and changes in a system. They have complete and total control and can even delete or alter system logs.

The fact that the County does not have system administrators who have administrative access to the Dominion voting machines is a big concern. By allowing Dominion to have the administration access only, the County has basically turned over the system to the Dominion voting machine system people. There is no IT control here because that’s been ceded to Dominion.

By the way, in general, most frauds that include IT-related processes have at least one IT person involved in the fraud.

In his interview with OAN Ken Bennett said Dominion is refusing to comply with the State Senate’s subpoena and is hiding the second password for their machines.

Dominion was in charge of the Maricopa County election. And now they are refusing to cooperated with a subpoena.

‘Moving in the wrong direction’: White House slams new Florida voting law as ‘built on a lie’

By passing new voting measures that put limitations on absentee voting and enact identification requirements, the White House says Florida is trying to supress voters they “don’t like.”

“Florida is moving in the wrong direction,” White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters on Thursday about the new voting laws.

Jean-Pierre went on to call the 2020 presidential election one of the most secure in US history and claimed there was no reason for new voting laws unless one was trying to suppress certain groups from voting.

“The only reason to change the rules right now is if you don't like who voted. And that should be out of bounds,” Jean-Pierre said.

Jean-Pierre reiterated the White House’s support for HR1, a voting bill that passed the House, but is unlikely to find the support it needs in the Senate if it is not drastically changed for Republican support. That bill expands access to mail-in ballots, early voting, and automatic registration.

DeSantis signed the new bill into law on Thursday morning, saying Florida now has “the strongest election integrity measures in the country.”

Similar to Georgia’s recently voting laws, Florida’s legislation places restrictions on ballot drop boxes and absentee voting. Ballot drop boxes will need to be supervised and hours limited to election offices and voting sites. Changes to registration records also require an identification number.

Critics have argued laws in Florida and other states such as Georgia are aimed at preventing minorities from voting, while supporters have said the measures merely ensure a more secure election process.

Goldman Announces Formation Of New Crypto Trading Desk

2018 was not a good year for bitcoin, and for cryptos in general: after hitting an all time high of (only) $20,000 in December of 2017, much of the remainder of 2018 was spent with the crypto bubble deflating, with early crypto investors first casually than fervently taking profits and dragging the price of cryptos ever lower. The punchline came in September, when as we reported at the time Goldman - clearly disappointed with the lack of upside momentum - suspended its fledgling crypto trading desk plans…

But fast forward a little over two years forward when following the 8-fold increase in the price of bitcoin since Goldman's cowardly exit, the bank - which has lost some of its top executives in recent weeks - has made a less than triumphant return and as we reported back in March, had restarted its cryptocurrency trading desk effort and was preparing to deal bitcoin futures and non-deliverable forwards for clients from next week.

As of today, this effort is complete with Goldman's Market Division officially announced the formation of the firm's cryptocurrency trading team which will be part of Goldman's Global Currencies and Emerging Markets unit, and reports directly to Rajesh Venkataramani, the head of Goldman's GCEM Foreign Exchange Options Trading.

As part of the initial launch, Goldman said it had successfully executed Bitcoin NDFs and BTC future trades on the CME on a principal basis, with all cash settling. The bank said that it is selectively onboarding new liquidity providers to help expand the firm's offering.

Furthermore, Bloomberg yesterday reported that as part of its NDF derivative offering, Goldman then protects itself from Bitcoin's volatility by buying and selling Bitcoin futures in block trades on CME Group Inc., using Cumberland DRW as its trading partner. Goldman, which still isn’t active in the Bitcoin spot market, introduced the wagers to clients last month without an announcement.

“Institutional demand continues to grow significantly in this space, and being able to work with partners like Cumberland will help us expand our capabilities,” said Max Minton, Goldman’s Asia-Pacific head of digital assets. The new offering is “paving the way for us to evolve our nascent cash-settled crypto-currency capabilities.”

A new report states that Melinda Gates was very uncomfortable with a meeting that took place between her husband, Bill Gates, and late accused pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The meeting allegedly caused major problems between Bill and Melinda and purportedly damaged their relationship.

The Gateses announced their intent to divorce on social media this week.

What are the details?

According to a Thursday report from the Daily Beast, the couple met with Epstein in 2013 while in New York City.

Gates was still Microsoft's chairman at the time of the meeting.

Following the meeting, Melinda reportedly told her husband that she was furious at the relationship between him and Epstein and felt incredibly uncomfortable with the encounter.

"Gates' friendship with Epstein — who for years was accused of molesting scores of underage girls — still haunts Melinda, according to friends of the couple who spoke to The Daily Beast this week in light of the pair's divorce announcement, which had been weeks in the making," the outlet reported.

Bill reportedly also met with Epstein several times beginning in 2011 to solicit donations for a charitable fund — three years after the late accused pedophile pleaded guilty to soliciting a young girl. He also reportedly rode aboard Epstein's private jet during one occasion in 2013.

Bill has previously said that he never had any business relationships with the late billionaire financier and that he never had any private meetings with Epstein.

In 2019, Bill said, "I met [Epstein]. I didn't have any business relationship or friendship with him. I didn't go to New Mexico or Florida or Palm Beach or any of that. There were people around him who were saying, 'Hey, if you want to raise money for global health and get more philanthropy, he knows a lot of rich people.' Every meeting where I was with him were meetings with men. I was never at any parties or anything like that. He never donated any money to anything that I know about."

The outlet also noted that Boris Nikolic — Harvard Medical school grad and "former adviser to Gates" who was "mysteriously named a backup executor in Epstein's last will and testament" — reportedly acted as a go-between for Bill and Epstein.

The outlet reported that no spokesperson for either Bill or Melinda responded to requests for comments on the report. A spokesperson for Nikolic also did not respond to the outlet's request for a statement.

It’s part of an effort to help tackle a disease-transmitting invasive mosquito population—the Aedes aegypti mosquito species—that’s responsible for “virtually all mosquito-borne diseases transmitted to humans,” according to the company.

These mosquitoes make up about 4 percent of the mosquito population in the Keys, and transmit dengue, Zika, yellow fever, and other human diseases, as well as heartworm and other potentially deadly diseases to pets and other animals.

The experiment is in collaboration with the Florida Keys Mosquito Control District (FKMCD), and was approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and an independent advisory board.

Over the next 12 weeks, less than 12,000 mosquitoes are expected to emerge each week for approximately 12 weeks. Untreated comparison sites will be monitored with mosquito traps on Key Colony Beach, Little Torch Key, and Summerland Key.

If successful, some 20 million additional genetically modified mosquitoes will be released later on in the year.

“We really started looking at this about a decade ago, because we were in the middle of a dengue fever outbreak here in the Florida Keys,” FKMCD executive director Andrea Leal said during a video news conference. “So we’re just very excited to move forward with this partnership, working both with Oxitec and members of the community.”

The insects released by the biotechnology firm are all male, as they do not bite. They are expected to mate with the local biting female mosquitoes, and in doing so, they will pass on a lethal gene that will ensure their female offspring die before reaching maturity.

According to Quartz, areas including Malaysia, Brazil, the Cayman Islands, and Panama, where similar experiments have been carried out, have seen mosquito populations drop by as much as 90 percent.

The project has faced backlash from residents, who say that their consent was not sought for the experiment.

The ACLU is working with the Biden administration to give "compensation" to illegal immigrants.

Immigration activists are working to pressure President Joe Biden to provide amnesty and reparations to illegal immigrants and their families who were deported under the Trump administration.

Lee Gelernt, a lawyer with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), informed NBC News that “The ACLU is in settlement negotiations with the Biden administration to provide full relief to the thousands of separated families, not just reunification in the U.S. but permanent status, compensation and social services.” In other words, the ACLU and Biden regime are working to give illegal immigrants free monetary compensation and a path to citizenship.

Similarly, a task force in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is reported to be “working to develop a system for processing and reunifying over a thousand families and to set up a system to provide mental health support and stability to thousands more families who are…still trying to heal from the trauma caused by their separation.” The spokesperson went on to say that this work is “only the beginning,” and disclosed that they are working with private corporations, NGOs, and immigration activists to do this work, presumably including activists at the ACLU.

The move comes as Biden and the left continue to ignore the border crisis. Since his inauguration, illegal immigration has skyrocketed, and resources needed to secure our border are dangerously overstretched. With this latest move by the Biden administration, he is signaling that those who break our immigration laws will be rewarded, and potentially causing an even higher surge of illegals to cross the border.

This is also an example of the Biden regime playing identity politics in order to dilute the voting power of his political opponents. According to the Pew Research Center, immigrants overwhelmingly support democrats and their policies. Thus, offering a pathway to citizenship and monetary compensation to illegal immigrants is an easy way to ensure more democratic voters in the future. Similarly, as National File previously reported, Biden is strengthening Obama-era policies which would put Section 8 Housing into traditionally conservative suburbs, which is likewise an unfair way to increase support for the Democrat Party.

Giving citizenship to immigrants who will overwhelming vote democrat in order to dilute the voting power of Americans is exactly what Tucker Carlson warned about last month, and roundly criticized for by the radical left.

Friday on FNC’s “Fox & Friends,” Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) discussed her recent letter scolding Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for allowing human smugglers and cartels to “openly” operate on the social media platform.

Cammack said while visiting the border, she found a “disturbing trend” from immigrants that they coordinated the logistics of entering the United States illegally through Facebook.

“It’s wild. According to Cammack, Facebook profited from ads for pages promoting how to cross the border while at the same time silencing conservative pages.

University Of Pittsburgh Uses Taxpayer-Funded Aborted Babies For Medical Research

Researchers grafted skin from aborted fetuses onto rodent bodies, creating what they call 'humanized rat models.'

The Pennsylvania House Health Committee held a hearing Tuesday on the University of Pittsburgh’s experimentation with aborted fetuses, including experiments grafting aborted baby scalps onto mice. Pitt denies that the aborted fetuses are supplied by a local Planned Parenthood, and that their research is funded by taxpayer dollars, but Tuesday’s hearing featured witnesses testifying otherwise.

In the fall of 2020, researchers at the University of Pittsburgh published a study titled, “Development of humanized mouse and rat models with full-thickness human skin and autologous immune cells.” In studying how organs reacted to pathogens or infections on human skin, researchers grafted “full-thickness human skin” as well as thymuses, livers, and spleens from fetuses onto rodent bodies, creating what they call “humanized rat models.”

The study says researchers obtained fetuses “at the gestational age of 18 to 20 weeks” from elective “termination of pregnancy through Magee-Womens Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), with the University of Pittsburgh, Health Sciences Tissue Bank.”

Researchers used skin from both the scalps and backs of fetuses so that they could compare grafts with and without hair. Graphic images from the experiment show that by 12 weeks, fine human hair, or baby hair, can be seen growing darker and longer than the surrounding short white hairs of the mice.

This study was funded by the taxpayer-funded National Institute of Health (NIH), and in part by Dr. Anthony Fauci’s office, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). In a statement to The Federalist, Pitt spokesman Kevin Zwick said the university “does not use any of its state appropriation to fund fetal tissue research.” Pitt does not deny that they receive NIH funding or that they are performing their experiments in state-funded facilities.

State Rep. Kathy Rapp, the overseeing committee’s chairwoman, noted during the hearing that “even funding from the NIH is supported by Pennslyvania taxpayer dollars, so whether it’s federal or whether it’s state dollars … it is taxpayer-funded research.”

The University of Pittsburgh was represented by Dr. Jeremy Rich, a neurologist and deputy director of research at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. In answering questions from committee members, Rich said he was “relatively new to Pennslyvania” and repeatedly declined to answer questions on fetal tissue trafficking, admitting that as a brain cancer researcher, “speaking from my own experience, I don’t use fetal tissues, I use fetal cells.”

Rich reiterated Pitt’s position that “all laws and guidelines are being followed.” When questioned specifically on the humanized rats study, Rich interrupted a member to correct them, noting “they’re mice actually, they’re not rats,” even though the study in question has “humanized mouse and rat models” in its title.

Mexican Cartel Boss Hosts City-Wide Party for Children

The leader of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels hosted a large celebration for all the children in a western city. The party included food, gifts, entertainment, and a wrestling match paid for by Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG).

Breitbart Texas obtained exclusive videos and photographs from the celebrations in Tamazula, Jalisco, which includes the town of San Vicente and others. The celebrations took place on April 30, a day known in Mexico as Día Del Niño or Child’s Day. According to information obtained by Breitbart Texas, members of CJNG under orders of their leader Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera sent hundreds of presents and paid for large celebrations.

In one of the videos, a man dressed as a clown relays a message from Oseguera, referring to him as “Mr. Mencho” or the “Lord of the Roosters.” In the message, Mencho sends his regards and hopes to spread joy.

In a second video, a group of women thank El Mencho as they cook a large container of a traditional seasoned pork and corn stew known as pozole. The women express their thanks to the drug lord and wish him well.

The large-scale celebration took place without any interference from Mexican authorities. The CJNG is responsible for terrorist-style attacks including improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and shooting attacks. The CJNG is the leading organization behind armed conflicts in western and central Mexico as they seek to expand territories.

The celebrations are the continuation of outreach efforts by cartels to curry favor in rural communities. Other cartels such as the Gulf Cartel and the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas also held celebrations during Christmas without any interference from law enforcement.

In CMP’s undercover video footage, Dr. Audrey Lance, an abortionist at Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania and Abortion Training Director at the University of Pittsburgh, tells Daleiden, “Well, there’s a tissue bank at Pitt that we offer patients to donate to,” referring to the University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences Tissue Bank explicitly mentioned in the above study.

“The University does not obtain fetal tissue from Planned Parenthood,” Zwick told The Federalist in a statement. Daleiden alleged that the University of Pittsburg is lying about its relationship with Planned Parenthood to protect its status as a major site for Planned Parenthood’s abortion training programs.

“Some of the worst violators in Planned Parenthood’s abortion and fetal research practices were trained at Pitt,” Daleiden said, pointing to PPFA Medical Director Dr. Jennefer Russo, who trained as an abortionist at Pitt and was later caught supplying dead fetuses to a for-profit California tissue procurement company.

The hearing also focused on fetal experimentation by Pitt’s Dr. Jörg Gerlach, a stem cell scientist in Pitt’s McGowan Regenerative Medicine Institute. His research involved the abortion of five-month-old fetuses born alive via induced labor in order to deliver the babies whole for better use of their organs, specifically livers.

“Dr. Gerlach’s protocol describes this liver harvesting as an ‘in vivo’ procedure–Latin for, quote, ‘in the living body,’ and requires the harvesting to take place immediately after the umbilical cord has been cut,” Daleiden testified.

Rich said Daleiden incorrectly attributed the experiments involving liver cultures from fetal tissues to Pitt researchers.

“The research on human fetal cell isolation was conducted only in Italy. No work was done in the United States and no federal U.S. research dollars were used for the work,” Rich told the committee in his opening statement. “Rather the research on culturing of liver cells was supported by a grant from UPMC. This was a process of development of good manufacturing practices.”

A study on the “Expression of Human Fetal Liver Hepatoblasts” by Gerlach published in 2019 describes using “in vivo” sections of fetus livers the “Methods” section.

Rich is correct that Gerlach’s study was funded by UPMC. The study’s “Acknowledgments” sections reads, “This study was financially supported by the UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center).”

However, another fetal liver study affiliated with a lab in Palermo, Italy, titled “Report on Liver Cell Transplantation Using Human Fetal Liver Cells,” was funded by the NIH, contrary to Rich’s testimony that no federal U.S. research dollars were used for that type of study.

When Rep. Timothy Bonner asked Rich what fetal research was done in Italy that could not be done in Pennslyvania, Rich said, “UPMC was not doing research in Italy. They had collaborators.”

“Science is global,” he said. “Very often we can collaborate with people around the world … so it was not UPMC individuals doing research overseas, it was collaborative.”

SC school resource officer arrested, charged as part of child sex trafficking case

A federal investigation into an Upstate South Carolina child sex trafficking ring has broadened to include more suspects, including an elementary school resource officer in the small town of Westminster.

Initially, five people were arrested and charged last August in connection with child sex trafficking. Since then, three of those suspects have pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with investigators, including Shannon Garland, the wife of suspect Gary Garland, a 50-year-old registered sex offender who is believed to be the ringleader.

Gary Garland is charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation of children and conspiracy to commit human trafficking and remains in Spartanburg County Detention Center.

Further investigation led to the recent arrests of three more people, including John Towery, a former Oconee County sheriff’s deputy who worked as a school resource officer at Fair-Oak Elementary School in Westminster.

Towery was fired from the sheriff’s department in March, just weeks before he was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of children and conspiracy to commit human trafficking.

In total, eight people have been arrested and charged with involvement in a child sex trafficking ring: Michael Skelton, Johnnie Wells, Duwone Allen, Glen Whitcomb, Kianna Dailey, along with Towery and the Garlands.

Towery pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday in federal court in Greenville. He was granted a $25,000 bond and required to wear GPS monitoring and confined to his home.

Towery had worked at the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office since 2012, after previously serving in the Edisto Beach Police Department.

All suspects but the Garlands have been released on bonds of $25,000 with the same requirements as Towery.

The case stems from the arrests last year of the Garlands, who were initially charged with criminal sexual conduct of a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old, according to warrants.

Technological change is upending finance. Bitcoin has gone from being an obsession of anarchists to a $1trn asset class that many fund managers insist belongs in any balanced portfolio. Swarms of digital day-traders have become a force on Wall Street. PayPal has 392m users, a sign that America is catching up with China’s digital-payments giants. Yet, as our special report explains, the least noticed disruption on the frontier between technology and finance may end up as the most revolutionary: the creation of government digital currencies, which typically aim to let people deposit funds directly with a central bank, bypassing conventional lenders.

These “govcoins” are a new incarnation of money. They promise to make finance work better but also to shift power from individuals to the state, alter geopolitics and change how capital is allocated. They are to be treated with optimism, and humility.

A decade or so ago, amid the wreckage of Lehman Brothers, Paul Volcker, a former head of the Federal Reserve, grumbled that banking’s last useful innovation was the atm. Since the crisis, the industry has raised its game. Banks have modernised their creaking it systems. Entrepreneurs have built an experimental world of “decentralised finance”, of which bitcoin is the most famous part and which contains a riot of tokens, databases and conduits that interact to varying degrees with traditional finance. Meanwhile, financial “platform” firms now have over 3bn customers who use e-wallets and payments apps. Alongside PayPal are other specialists such as Ant Group, Grab and Mercado Pago, established firms such as Visa, and Silicon Valley wannabes such as Facebook.

Government or central-bank digital currencies are the next step but they come with a twist, because they would centralise power in the state rather than spread it through networks or give it to private monopolies. The idea behind them is simple. Instead of holding an account with a retail bank, you would do so direct with a central bank through an interface resembling apps such as Alipay or Venmo. Rather than writing cheques or paying online with a card, you could use the central bank’s cheap plumbing. And your money would be guaranteed by the full faith of the state, not a fallible bank. Want to buy a pizza or help a broke sibling? No need to deal with Citigroup’s call centre or pay Mastercard’s fees: the Bank of England and the Fed are at your service.

This metamorphosis of central banks from the aristocrats of finance to its labourers sounds far-fetched, but it is under way. Over 50 monetary authorities, representing the bulk of global gdp, are exploring digital currencies. The Bahamas has issued digital money. China has rolled out its e-yuan pilot to over 500,000 people. The eu wants a virtual euro by 2025, Britain has launched a task-force, and America, the world’s financial hegemon, is building a hypothetical e-dollar.

One motivation for governments and central banks is a fear of losing control. Today central banks harness the banking system to amplify monetary policy. If payments, deposits and loans migrate from banks into privately run digital realms, central banks will struggle to manage the economic cycle and inject funds into the system during a crisis. Unsupervised private networks could become a Wild West of fraud and privacy abuses.

The other motivation is the promise of a better financial system. Ideally money provides a reliable store of value, a stable unit of account and an efficient means of payment. Today’s money gets mixed marks. Uninsured depositors can suffer if banks fail, bitcoin is not widely accepted and credit cards are expensive. Government e-currencies would score highly, since they are state-guaranteed and use a cheap, central payments hub.

As a result, govcoins could cut the operating expenses of the global financial industry, which amount to over $350 a year for every person on Earth. That could make finance accessible for the 1.7bn people who lack bank accounts. Government digital currencies could also expand governments’ toolkits by letting them make instant payments to citizens and cut interest rates below zero. For ordinary users, the appeal of a free, safe, instant, universal means of payment is obvious.

It is this appeal, though, that creates dangers. Unconstrained, govcoins could fast become a dominant force in finance, particularly if network effects made it hard for people to opt out. They could destabilise banks, because if most people and firms stashed their cash at the central banks, lenders would have to find other sources of funding with which to back their loans.

Democrats Win Request to End Signature Matching in Arizona Election Audit

Breaking Wednesday evening, Democrats successfully got signature matching to cease in the Maricopa, Arizona election audit. Democrats had few successes in a lawsuit aimed at stopping the audit of 2020 presidential election ballots in Maricopa County, but they reached a settlement. Along with the end of signature matching and validating, some members of the media and observers from Democrat Secretary of State Katie Hobbs’ office will be allowed to enter the audit facility to observe.

With only 9 days left to go before the audit is set to be completed, signature verification will cease immediately. According to the settlement, Cyber Ninjas “and their agents will not compare signatures on early ballot envelopes with signatures from the voter registration file.

The Senate Defendants warrant and represent that they are not currently comparing signatures on early ballot envelopes with signatures from the voter registration file, and will notify Plaintiffs within 48hours of any decision to undertake such signature comparison and afford Plaintiffs 48 hours to respond to resolve any concerns.”

National File reports that although they were unable to obtain a statement from the Republican Party or Arizona Senators responsible for the audit, a recently released video by Arizona GOP Chair Kelli Ward gives insight.

In the video, Ward addresses security concerns posed by Democrats, saying “there are not only 9 cameras in the arena, as you see on the website, and as the Democrats like to claim. There are actually dozens, dozens of private security cameras focused on the tables, on the counters, on the boxes of ballots, and on the machine evaluation areas. There’s no room or tolerance for error.”

Almost Half of ‘Female’ Transgender Inmates Are Sex Offenders: Report

Government plans to let people “self-identify” as the opposite sex will put female prisoners at risk, campaigners have warned, after it was revealed that a huge proportion of transgender inmates are sex offenders.

A report by feminist charity Fair Play for Women found “at least 41 per cent” of transgender inmates housed in jails across England and Wales are sex offenders — compared to 17 per cent of the population as a whole — and that a further handful are held in maximum-security category A prisons.

According to Ministry of Justice figures, there are 70 transgender inmates in English and Welsh jails, but officials refused to answer freedom of information requests on the number of sex offenders amongst them, alleging that there is no “business or legal case” for recording the data.

“Fair Play for Women strongly disagrees,” said the group in a new report, which argues the information is necessary to assess risks to female prisoners posed by government plans to allow men to “change sex” without even having to see a doctor.

Florida's new voting law immediately hit with lawsuits

Voting rights groups on Thursday filed a pair of lawsuits targeting a restrictive GOP-crafted voting bill, just moments after it was signed into law by Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The complaints, both filed in federal court in Tallahassee, claim the law, SB 90, illegally restricts access to the ballot box, with one of the suits alleging the measure will result in illegal discrimination against voters of color.

“SB 90 is a bill that purports to solve problems that do not exist," reads one of the suits. "[It] caters to a dangerous lie about the 2020 election that threatens our most basic democratic values, and, in the end, makes it harder to vote without adequate justification for doing so.”

The legal challenges come after Florida Republicans passed the measure on near party-line votes over objections from civil rights groups and every one of the state’s 67 county-level election supervisors.

Public debate over the Florida law has been similar to the row over a recently passed Georgia law. GOP proponents argue the new restrictions are needed to ensure election integrity and bolster voter confidence, while critics deride the measures as a cynical ploy to suppress likely Democratic voters, including racial minorities, using former President Trump’s repeated lies about the 2020 election being subject to widespread fraud as a pretext.

Among the limits imposed by the Florida measure are new restrictions on the use of absentee ballot drop boxes, additional requirements on voters seeking alternatives to in-person voting and a ban on members of the public distributing food or water to those waiting in line to vote.

One of the lawsuits is backed by Democratic attorney Marc Elias, who filed the complaint on behalf of the League of Women Voters of Florida, the Black Voters Matter Fund and the Florida Alliance for Retired Americans.

A second challenge, brought Thursday by the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF), Disability Rights Florida and Common Cause, alleges the law violates constitutional protections and the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

Zachery Morris, a lawyer with LDF, said the new law represents a “backlash to Black voters’ historic turnout during the 2020 election season.”

“The law’s suppressive and discriminatory provisions make it clear that the Florida Legislature’s goal is to erect additional hurdles to inhibit Florida voters, especially disabled voters, Black voters, and Latino voters, from accessing the ballot box,” Morris said in a statement.
