Bob Odenkirk hospitalized after collapsing on β€˜Better Call Saul’ set

 

Bob Odenkirk, the star of Better Call Saul, has been hospitalized after collapsing on the set Tuesday.

 

The 58-year-old actor was shooting the AMC show in New Mexico when he fell ill and crew members called an ambulance, Yahoo Entertainment confirms.

 

It's not immediately clear what led to Odenkirk's collapse, or if he was conscious when he was transported to the hospital. He remained hospitalized on Wednesday morning.

 

Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad spin-off which has earned him four Emmy nominations for acting, is shooting its sixth and final season in Albuquerque. The coronavirus delayed production but the show β€” centered around his character Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman β€” is expected to return to TV in 2022.

 

Odenkirk received well wishes from co-star Michael McKean, who sent "huge love" and told him, "You got this brother."

Democrat Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried on Tuesday suspended concealed weapons permits of 22 January 6 protesters.

β€œThe deeply disturbing events that occurred at our nation’s Capitol on January 6th were sedition, treason, and domestic terrorism – and those individuals involved in the insurrection must be held accountable for attempting to subvert our democratic process,” said Fried. β€œSince charges began being filed, we are using our lawful authority to immediately suspend the licenses of 22 individuals involved in the storming of the U.S. Capitol.”

Actor Rick Aiello, Son of Danny Aiello, Dead at 65

 

Actor Rick Aiello, who starred in The Sopranos, Twin Peaks and Do The Right Thing alongside his father, the late Danny Aiello, has died. He was 65.

 

Rick's wife Arlene confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter Tuesday, telling the outlet her husband died of pancreatic cancer in a Warwick, New York hospital the day prior. His older brother, stunt coordinator Danny Aiello III, also died of pancreatic cancer in 2010.

This damning list of molesters was created on March 14, 1997, whenβ€”in response to prior whistleblower complaintsβ€”a questionnaire was sent to all 10,000 nationwide congregations asking members if they suspected any fellow Witnesses of being a pedophilic predator. The church received information on many monsters in its midst, although the precise number of names remains unknown.

Senators Reach Agreement on $1.2 Trillion Hard Infrastructure Bill

 

A group of bipartisan senators on Wednesday reached an agreement on the $1.2 trillion hard infrastructure bill after Republicans stalled the measure last week.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said the senate could vote as early as Wednesday evening to advance the measure.

 

The motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed was not agreed to last week because Republicans said there was no money to pay for the package.

 

β€œSenators continue to make good progress on both on both tracks of legislation. Senators should be prepared to vote again on cloture on the motion to proceed to the bipartisan infrastructure bill as early as tonight,” Schumer said.

Senators say they have reached a deal on the β€œmajor issues” in their bipartisan infrastructure talks, and expect to start debate as soon as Wednesday.

Department of Justice Warns States Against Violating Federal Law With Audits

 

Department of Justice officials on Wednesday alerted states that they’re tracking closely the 2020 election audit taking place in Arizona and proposed audits in several other states.

 

The new guidance document summarizes the Biden administration’s position on federal law concerning audits, deeming the round of reviews either done, being done, or proposed β€œunusual” and β€œexceedingly rare” while highlighting that federal law imposes constraints under which counties and states must comply.

 

The laws include the Civil Rights Act of 1960, which mandates the retention of election records for 22 months after a federal election, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which outlines that no person β€œshall intimidate, threaten, or coerce, or attempt to intimidate, threaten, or coerce any person for voting or attempting to vote, or intimidate, threaten, or coerce, or attempt to intimidate, threaten, or coerce any person for urging or aiding any person to vote or attempt to vote.”

The GOP-controlled Arizona Senate last year ordered the audit, tapping Florida-based Cyber Ninjas, which has no election audit experience.

 

Violators of the Civil Rights Act face fines of up to $1,000 and a jail sentence of up to one year for each violation.

 

β€œThe reason we’re issuing this as guidance is to tell jurisdictions, generally, that we are concerned that if they’re going to conduct these audits, so-called audits of the past election, they have to comply with federal law, and warning them that they can’t conduct these audits in a way that is going to intimidate voters,” a DOJ official told reporters in a call about the guidance.

Dozens of US Beaches Shut Down in July Due to High Levels of Toxic Bacteria

 

Dozens of beaches across the United States were forced to close this month following reports of an increase in toxic bacterias contaminating the water.

 

An advisory against bathing at beaches in states nationwide like California, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Massachusetts and Washington State was issued by health officials this month after they determined swimming is potentially unsafe due to high levels of bacteria.

 

In some cases, like with the recent closures in New York’s Nassau County when 17 beaches were shut down, the contamination was reported after heavy rainfall caused runoff stormwater to impact the quality of bathing water, elevating bacteria levels.

 

Other components that regularly contribute to the pollution of coastal environments come from ships and boats, trash, sunscreen, and harmful algal blooms, according to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).

 

Beach-goers getting infected by toxic bacterias, like the flesh-eating kind, are extremely rare and more often affect people with certain underlying health conditions.

 

β€œThere’s very few people that get sick and die in the United States, but when somebody dies it makes the news because it’s so graphic, and that’s because you die within a day or two,” Paul Gulig, a professor of molecular genetics and microbiology at the University of Florida School of Medicine told The Weather Channel in an interview on July 23, referring to Vibrio vulnificus, which is mostly present in marine environments such as estuaries, brackish ponds, or coastal areas.

 

Last year, a total of 328 beaches nationwide were reported as β€œpotentially unsafe” for bathing activities on at least 25 percent of days that testing took place, according to a report (pdf) published on July 1 by the Environment America Research & Policy Center. This number amounts to more than 10 percent of the beaches that were surveyed.

McConnell to run pro-vaccine ads in Kentucky to combat β€˜bad advice’

 

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, a proponent of the coronavirus vaccine, said he will work to counter misinformation about the shots by mounting an ad blitz in his home state of Kentucky.

 

​”There is bad advice out there, you know. Apparently you see that all over the place: people practicing medicine without a license, giving bad advice. And that bad advice should be ignored,” McConnell told Reuters in an interview published Wednesday.

 

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky on Tuesday issued new guidelines that call for even fully vaccinated people to wear masks indoors in areas where coronavirus cases are on the rise because of the highly infectious Delta variant. ​

 

β€œNot enough people are vaccinated,” said McConnell, who survived polio as a child. β€œSo we’re trying to get them to reconsider and get back on the path to get us to some level of herd immunity.”

Harry Dunn, Adam Kinzinger, Aquilino Gonell, and Adam Schiff all boo-hooed on international television, signaling nought but weakness to America’s adversaries. But why should they care? These men are more concerned about climate change activist shaman than they are about the Chinese Communist Party. More on that, later.

 

Schiff, recall, was once the latest in a string of purported titans who were set to β€œtake down Trump,” in the failed impeachment proceedings. Yesterday, he reverted to his natural state of sobbing little manlet, keen to play up his β€œhuman” side for the cameras. A crock, if ever there was one.

β€˜The Worst Attack EVER!’

 

The narrative has suggested that January 6th was β€œthe worst attack” on the United States since, like, ever. The moderate position appears to be that it was the worst attack since my people (the British) burned the White House down. And yet, anyone with even a cursory knowledge of American history would righty guffaw at such claims. Hell, anyone with a functioning memory should be able to see through the pantomimish postulation.

 

Consider 1954, when four armed Puerto Ricans took positions in the gallery overlooking the chamber of the House of Representatives and opened fire. They wounded five Members of Congress: two Republicans and three Democrats. It was a pretty heinous attack. Of course Jimmy Carter commuted the terrorists’ life sentences later on.

 

Or how about in 1971, when a left-wing protester planted an actual bomb that actually exploded outside the Senate.

Or consider 1983, when a massive blast tore through the Capitol building, luckily killing no one, but leading to the modern identification requirements needed to enter the building. The culprits – Laura Whitehorn, Marilyn Buck, and Linda Evans – were all radical Marxists.

 

Whitehorn served 14 years and is now a lauded figure on the left. Buck served 25 years before being released to die from cancer a month later. Evans served 11 years, got parole, and then had her sentence commuted by Bill Clinton.
