Anon noticed that MSN, Huff Post and some guy named Trevor Noah were making a thing out of POTUS 45 stumbling over saying Truth Social incorrectly. Anon watched the video and, at 3:17in the YouTube video, Trump says Troth and changes it either to "Truth's 'ssential" or "Truth's Essential" or something like that. Anon believes that 45 is pointing us towards something. Working on that theory, Anon searched Troth on QResear.ch. Anon got17results. Just a coincidence, right?

Far-Left Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo Grants Private Security Company $120,000 No-Bid Contract – Security Company Based in Mailbox

 

Texas – Far-left Harris County judge Lina Hidalgo, who is currently under investigation for awarding a political crony an $11 million ‘vaccine outreach’ contract, raised more red flags when she granted a private security company a no-bid contract.

 

Hidalgo granted XMI Protection, a brand new company, a $120,000, 3-month no-bid contract and it appears the security detail is based in a mailbox.

 

“Motion carries 3-2. Thank you guys so much,” Judge Hidalgo said on Tuesday after a majority of the Harris County Commissioners Court approved the contract.

 

XMI Protection will provide security for Judge Hidalgo for 3 months at a cost of $121,000.

 

According to an investigation by KHOU 11, the security company is listed as a suite in a Spring-area shopping center, but it’s actually based in a mailbox inside of a shipping store.

 

KHOU 11 reported:

 

We’re learning more about XMi Protection a day after a majority of the Harris County Commissioners Court granted the company a no-bid contract.

 

“I want to make sure that it’s clear that the firm has the experience required,” Hidalgo said. “That, ethically, there are no issues here. … That it’s cost-effective.”

 

Hidalgo’s office chose XMi after ending a security agreement with the Precinct 1 Constable’s Office earlier this month.

 

The Precinct 1 Constable’s Office chief of staff unsuccessfully challenged Hidalgo in the March 1 Democratic primary, although no one in Hidalgo’s office has said whether that played a role in the decision.

 

“Why a public company?” Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey said about the new security deal. “Why a no-bid contract? Why the urgency?”

 

Ramsey voted against the contract along with fellow Republican, Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack Cagle.

 

XMi is a brand new company that lists its address as a suite in a Spring area shopping center. But it actually appears to be a mailbox inside a shipping store.

 

“This isn’t about the judge. This isn’t about her security,” Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey said on Wednesday afternoon. “This is about why couldn’t we use Constables? Why couldn’t we use Harris County Sheriff’s deputies? We have a lot of options other than a private company with a P.O. Box.”

A British actress who starred in Doctor Strange with Benedict Cumberbatch and her husband are accussed of having sex with a 13-year-old girl after they groomed her.

 

The girl, now an adult, says that Zara Phythian and Victor Marke filmed the abuse in a bid to recreate pornographic scenes.

 

The abuse is claimed to have happened between 2005 and 2008 when the couple were martial arts instructors in Nottinghamshire.

 

Jurors at Nottingham Crown Court also heard a police interview from the woman, who was aged between 13 and 15 at the time of the alleged abuse, describing the details of the sexual offences before the pair were married.

 

Marke, 59, and Phythian, 36, - whose legal name is now Zara Marke - deny 14 charges of sexual activity with a child.

 

The court heard Phythian asked the girl if she wanted to play a game of 'dare' and gave her an alcoholic drink.

 

She then gave her husband oral sex and asked the child to join in.

 

The youngster copied what sports coach Phythian had been doing, the jury was told, before experienced martial arts instructor Marke allegedly had sex with both of them.

 

The child alleged she did not know how to react but, it is alleged, this kind of sexual activity happened repeatedly, and they told her not to say anything.

 

'I knew it was wrong but I just didn't know how to get out of the situation or say anything,' she told police.

 

'I remember trying to copy Zara's reaction at the time because I looked up to her and tried to be like her in every way.'

 

The child also felt like she was being 'coached' by Phythian to get better at the sexual activity, the court was told.

Thousands of teachers across Victoria could be stood down from today for failing to get a third Covid-19 jab.

 

Victoria and the Northern Territory are the only states to mandate a booster shot for teachers.

 

All staff were required to have three doses of a Covid-19 vaccine by April 28, unless they have a medical exemption.

 

Around 2500 teachers and support staff may lose their jobs due to the rule.

 

Principals say the permanent loss of thousands of teachers due to vaccination mandates is heightening staff shortages in schools across the state.

 

More than 1300 state school teachers and 1300 private teachers had not met the vaccination guidelines as of December 2021, a spokesperson for the Red Union told the Herald Sun.

 

'Although some were vaccinated over the holidays, the fact that there is now a requirement for three shots means more teachers are now not meeting the mandate,' the spokesman said.

 

The three dose mandate also applies to visitors and volunteers to school grounds, however parents were recently exempt from the requirement.

 

Remaining teachers have been forced to combine classes in larger spaces to work around staff absences and cancel school excursions.

 

The Red Union spokesman said there were 'no excuses' for a mandated third jab which he said was crippling the workforce.

On April 26, the New York Court of Appeals heard oral arguments over the congressional redistricting map previously enacted by the legislature and thrown out by a lower court judge on April 21. In the meantime, three alternative congressional maps have been submitted to replace the legislature’s map. The proposed maps have efficiency gaps ranging from R+2 to R+7. The map previously enacted by Democrats has an efficiency gap of D+9 and may remain in place if Democrats win their appeal. Gov. Kathy Hochul has indicated the electoral calendar may need to change depending on the court’s decision.

 

The map struck down by the courts was designed to give Democrats a huge advantage in the state and was largely approved along partisan lines in the legislature. The map creates 20 Democratic-leaning seats, only four Republican-leaning seats and two highly competitive seats (both of which tilt toward Democrats themselves).

 

This is an increase of three Democratic-leaning seats, a decrease of three Republican-leaning seats and a decrease of one highly competitive seat from the old map. If the map survives its legal challenge, it would likely set up Democrats to flip the open Republican-held 1st and 22nd districts, as well as Republican Rep. Nicole Malliotakis’s 11th District. The map also eliminates a Republican-held seat in central New York.

 

Two of the proposed alternatives, one from Republican plaintiffs in the lawsuit against the previously enacted map and one from the Empire Center for Public Policy, a nonprofit based in Albany, create 16 Democratic-leaning seats, seven Republican-leaning seats and three highly competitive seats. The third proposal, from Stephen W. Dunn, would create 15 Democratic-leaning seats, seven Republican-leaning seats, and four highly competitive seats. These alternatives are more proportional with how New Yorkers vote.

 

New York wound up with such an egregiously biased map only because of the weakness of New York’s new bipartisan redistricting commission. Under state law, the legislature may simply draw its own map after rejecting the commission’s first two proposals. Even worse, the commission didn’t even work as intended. Its first proposal was actually two maps (one favoring Democrats and one favoring Republicans), and it failed to come to any agreement on a second-round proposal, handing redistricting control to the legislature by default.

ALBANY, N.Y. — New York’s highest court on Wednesday rejected new congressional maps that had widely been seen as favoring Democrats, largely agreeing with Republican voters who argued the district boundaries were unconstitutionally gerrymandered.

 

The state’s Court of Appeals said the Democratic-led Legislature lacked the authority to redraw congressional and state Senate maps after an independent redistricting commission charged with crafting new maps failed to reach a consensus.

 

The judges also said lawmakers gerrymandered the congressional maps to Democrats’ favor, in violation of a 2014 constitutional amendment designed to rout out political gamesmanship in redistricting.

 

The Appeals Court handed authority to draw new district maps to a special court master, instead of the Legislature.

 

“Prompt judicial intervention is both necessary and appropriate to guarantee the People’s right to a free and fair election,” said the court’s opinion, written by Chief Judge Janet DiFiore.

 

The ruling didn’t specify a deadline for the adoption of new maps. But the judges said they were sending the matter to a lower state court, which “shall adopt constitutional maps with all due haste.”

 

It will “likely be necessary,” DiFiore wrote, to move the congressional and state Senate primary elections from June 28 to August, to give time for the maps to be redrawn and for candidates and elections officials to adapt their plans.

 

The decision comes as a major blow to Democrats in their struggle to prevent Republicans from retaking control of the U.S. House.

New York is set to lose one seat in Congress in 2021. The maps devised by the Legislature would have given Democrats a strong majority of registered voters in 22 of the state’s 26 congressional districts. Right now, Republicans currently hold eight of the state’s 27 seats.

 

Democrats had been hoping that a redistricting map favorable to their party in New York might help offset expected losses in other states where Republicans control state government.

 

Under a process passed by voters in 2014, New York’s new district maps were supposed to have been drawn by an independent commission. But that body, made up of equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans, couldn’t agree on one set of maps. The Democratic-controlled Legislature then stepped in and created its own maps, quickly signed into law by Gov. Kathy Hochul.

 

The appeals court, made up of judges appointed entirely by Democratic governors, sided with the Republican plaintiffs who argued that the Legislature had sidestepped the process set forth in the 2014 reforms, including a provision in the state constitution barring the redrawing of districts for partisan gain.

 

“The legislature responded by creating and enacting maps in a nontransparent manner controlled exclusively by the dominant political party — doing exactly what they would have done had the 2014 constitutional reforms never been passed,” DiFiore wrote.

 

Four out of seven judges on the Court of Appeals joined in the majority opinion, with a fifth agreeing that the Senate and congressional maps were unconstitutional on procedural grounds.

 

Attorneys for Democrats had argued that the Legislature was legally allowed to craft its own maps when the redistricting commission failed to reach a consensus. Democrats also said their maps reflected population shifts and united similar geographic and cultural communities, split apart by earlier rounds of gerrymandering.

 

But the judges took Democrats to task for crafting maps that reduced the number of competitive districts, and for asking the court to essentially “nullify” the 2014 reforms.

 

In the majority opinion, DiFiore said upholding the tainted process would only encourage partisans involved in the Independent Redistricting Commission process to avoid consensus in the future, too, “thereby permitting the legislature to step in and create new maps merely by engineering a stalemate at any stage of the IRC process.”

 

Two lower-level courts had also ruled that the maps were unconstitutional and had given the Legislature an April 30 deadline to come up with new maps or else leave the task to a court-appointed expert. That deadline has now been set aside.

 

In the meantime, candidates had already begun campaigning in the new districts, even as they are unsure whether those districts would still exist by the time voting began.

In a major escalation, Georgia election regulators have issued four subpoenas demanding the identity of a John Doe whistleblower and other evidence concerning an alleged ballot trafficking operation in the 2020 election, Just the News has learned.

 

Delivered late last week to the election integrity watchdog True the Vote, its founder Catherine Engelbrecht and its researchers, the subpoenas seek evidence that backs up the group's complaint last November alleging that as many as 242 people illegally gathered third-party ballots during the battleground state's November 2020 election and subsequent U.S. Senate races, according to documents obtained by Just the News under a state open records request.

 

The evidence being sought by the State Elections Board and the Secretary of State's office includes the names, identities and phone records of people True the Vote believes were involved in trafficking ballots. There is more to this story. The aircraft were assembled overseas and the airframe was put together using pattern-and-spray techniques for drilling holes and such. So, when Boeing sends in parts machined to match the prints… nothing lines up.

They had to do a significant modification to the tail section, for example, because the plane would have ended up flying crooked without it.

 

I suspect what happened was that Trump insisted on a rebuild of existing airframes and someone either thought they would make a fast buck on the deal or decided to deliberately choose poor modification candidates for the project.

 

There are other problems pertaining to production crew skills, management philosophy, etc - but all of that is dimes and the occasional ten dollar bill on the pile of million dollar foundational problems created from the use of these particular airframes.

In a major escalation, Georgia election regulators have issued four subpoenas demanding the identity of a John Doe whistleblower and other evidence concerning an alleged ballot trafficking operation in the 2020 election, Just the News has learned.

 

Delivered late last week to the election integrity watchdog True the Vote, its founder Catherine Engelbrecht and its researchers, the subpoenas seek evidence that backs up the group's complaint last November alleging that as many as 242 people illegally gathered third-party ballots during the battleground state's November 2020 election and subsequent U.S. Senate races, according to documents obtained by Just the News under a state open records request.

 

The evidence being sought by the State Elections Board and the Secretary of State's office includes the names, identities and phone records of people True the Vote believes were involved in trafficking ballots. That includes the identity of a man the group said admitted he participated in the ballot trafficking scheme and was paid $10 for each ballot he collected and delivered to ballot drop boxes.

 

The subpoenas seek "the identity and contact information of the several individuals regarding personal knowledge, methods, and organizations involved in ballot trafficking in Georgia referenced in the Complaint and any recordings, transcripts, summaries, testimony, statements, witness interviews, notes or other documents describing what those individuals said."

 

That includes the identity of the whistleblower Engelbrecht's group interviewed and "all statements John Doe made regarding his alleged participation in ballot harvesting in Georgia." The subpoena also sought contact information for John Doe's mother and any evidence of whether True the Vote paid any of his medical bills.

The subpoena, signed by acting State Elections Board chairman Matt Mashburn, also appears to target any information the group and its researcher have about the funding streams for the alleged ballot harvesting scheme.

 

It seeks the identities of the "network of non-governmental organizations that worked together to facilitate a ballot trafficking scheme in Georgia" as well as any information about 10 "hubs" the group alleged coordinated the ballot trafficking.

 

Ballot harvesting, the act of gathering other voter's ballots, is expressly prohibited in Georgia and many other key election states. On Monday, a new complaint was filed in Green Bay, Wisc., alleging such harvesting occurred in that state's primary election earlier this month.

 

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger originally disclosed the existence of the Georgia harvesting investigation in a January interview with Just the News. In 2019, he led an effort to ensure state law expressly prohibited harvesting, and he told Just the News he believes the probe could lead to criminal charges and the identity of the funding streams for the alleged operation.

 

Raffensperger is now pushing for a nationwide ban on ballot harvesting.

A poll conducted by Neighborhood Research, a firm owned by GOP political consultant and New Jersey veteran Rick Shaftan – puts former President Donald Trump with a 56%-12% lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as the first choice among likely participants in the 2024 Iowa Republican Presidential Caucus.

 

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who is pursuing a second bid for the GOP presidential nomination, did not register beyond zero percent in the poll.

 

While 21% of Republican caucusgoers said they were undecided, seven other potential candidates registered above zero: South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (2.1%), Senator Tom Cotton (1.6%), former Vice President Mike Pence (1.6%), and former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley (1.1%). The senators – Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Tim Scott – were at 0.8%.

 

According to the Shaftan poll, when second choice votes are counted, Trump was at 62%, followed by DeSantis (38%), Noem (4%), Pence (3%), Cruz (3%) and Haley (2%). After adding in third choice votes, Trump is at 65%, and DeSantis at 39%.

 

“Should Trump choose not to run, DeSantis becomes the immediate frontrunner and Republicans across America will be tripping over each other to endorse him first,” Shaftan said. “DeSantis knows this and that gives him the ability to hang back and play it cool.”

 

During his unsuccessful presidential run in 2016, Christie received just 3,284 votes in Iowa, 1.8%.

If you are booked into jail in New Jersey, a judge will decide whether to hold you until trial or set you free. One factor the judge must weigh: the result from an algorithm called PSA that estimates how likely you are to skip court or commit another crime.

 

New Jersey adopted algorithmic risk assessment in 2014 at the urging, in part, of the nonprofit Pretrial Justice Institute. The influential Baltimore organization has for years advocated use of algorithms in place of cash bail, helping them spread to most states in the nation.

 

Then, earlier this month, PJI suddenly reversed itself. In a statement posted online, the group said risk-assessment tools like those it previously promoted have no place in pretrial justice because they perpetuate racial inequities.

 

“We saw in jurisdictions that use the tools and saw jail populations decrease that they were not able to see disparities decrease, and in some cases they saw disparities increase,” says Tenille Patterson, an executive partner at PJI.

 

Asked to name a state where risk-assessment tools didn’t work out, she pointed to New Jersey. State figures released last year show jail populations fell nearly by half after the changes, which took effect in 2017, eliminating cash bail and introducing the PSA algorithm. But the demographics of defendants stuck in jail stayed largely the same: about 50 percent black and 30 percent white.

McAllen, Texas is on the southern tip of the Rio Grande Valley

While McAllen is close to the Mexican border, its importance goes well beyond that simple fact. The city is halfway between Dallas, Texas (where Cloudflare has an existing datacenter) and Mexico City, the center and capital of Mexico. This means that any Cloudflare traffic delivered into Mexico is better served from McAllen. Removing 500 miles from the latency equation is a good thing. 500 miles equates to around 12 milliseconds of round-trip latency and when a connection operates (as all connections should), as a secure connection, then there can be many round trip communications before the first page starts showing up. Improving latency is key, even if we have a 0-RTT environment.

However, it gets better! A significant amount of Mexican Cloudflare traffic is delivered to ISPs and telcos that are just south of the Mexican border, hence McAllen improves their performance even more-so. Cloudflare chose the McAllen Data Center in order to provide those ISPs and telcos a local interconnect point.

 

Talking of interconnection - what’s needed is a solid IXP footprint

As astute readers of the Cloudflare blog know, the Cloudflare network interconnects to a large number of Internet Exchanges globally. Why should that be any different in McAllen, Texas. It’s not. As of last week, there was a brand new Internet Exchange (IX) in McAllen, Texas.

MEX-IX is that new IX and it provides a whole new way to interconnect with Mexican carriers, many of which are present in McAllen already. Cloudflare will enable peering on that IX as quickly as we can.

 

Next up, we go south!

Cloudflare has plenty of datacenter presence in South America, however Panama is the only datacenter we have operating within Central America. That means that we still have to work on Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.

John Durham: The low-profile Connecticut prosecutor leading a high-profile hunt for the origin of Trump collusion claims

U.S. Attorney John H. Durham was back in Connecticut for a retirement dinner earlier this fall and one of the other attendees observed, half facetiously, that he showed no obvious signs of bruising or broken bones.

When Attorney General William Barr put Durham at the center of the most contentious national controversy in years. He is digging into the origins the FBI’s counter-intelligence, Russia-collusion investigation of President Donald J. Trump’s 2016 campaign.

 

Durham, a career prosecutor with a gold-plated resume, will be excoriated no matter what he does. The president’s allies have created formidable expectations, predicting Durham will prove Democrats have maligned Trump with a succession of made-up controversies. Top Democrats are calling Durham a tool Trump is using for revenge.

 

Speculation increased last week with the impending release Monday of Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz’s report..

 

Durham’s colleagues say there is no one better able to tune out the partisan noise. They predict he will immerse himself in the work and he may end up frustrating everyone.
