Turkish FM Urges 'Greater Turkey' As EU Sides With Greece In Territorial Dispute

 

On Friday Turkey lashed out at a series of positions the EU summit in Brussels took regarding territorial disputes with Greece in the Aegean and Mediterranean - specifically on drilling rights and Ankara's charge that Greece is "militarizing" its islands in violation of historic treaties, an accusation which the EU has not backed. This also as Turkey has been seething over Ukraine and Moldova so quickly being granted EU candidate status.

 

The EU has consistently sided with defending Greece and Cyprus' pushback against expansive Turkish claims, which the Turkish foreign ministry slammed as decisions which are "prejudiced, lack vision, and are disconnected from reality."

 

Turkish publication Daily Sabah explains, "Citing several Greek policy positions and actions, including its claim to 10 nautical miles (11.5 miles) of national airspace, the militarization of Aegean islands near the Turkish coast, and pushbacks of asylum seekers, it underlined that the EU's silence on these issues contributes nothing toward their resolution and harms regional stability."

 

This after early this month German Chancellor Olaf Scholz put the ball in Turkey's court, urging that it not "provoke" Greece, which is a similar criticism from France's Macron as well, who has even more actively backed Greece and Cyprus in these disputes.

 

Meanwhile Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis more or less claimed 'victory' following Friday's EU meeting:

 

"I repeat that we are fully covered by the conclusions that were unanimously adopted and which express concern about Turkey’s provocations," said Mitsotakis regarding Greek-Turkish affairs, stating that they "call on [Turkey] to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all member-states and to de-escalate the tension which it is cultivating in the Eastern Mediterranean, so as to promote peace and stability in the wider region."

The 52-year-old fixer — who made at least 27 visits to the White House and other official venues during the Obama/Biden presidency — is likely to be a focus of a looming Republican House probe into Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings.

 

While Schwerin has not personally been accused of any wrongdoing, his deep personal and financial ties to both Joe and Hunter Biden continue to cast doubt on past claims from President Biden that he had no involvement in his son’s business dealings.

 

Hunter Biden and Schwerin likely first met when they worked in President Bill Clinton’s Commerce Department.

 

Schwerin arrived at the agency in 1994 with a sterling resume, having earned a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. from the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University. Before graduating he spent a year in Czechoslovakia as an English teacher.

 

Schwerin rose through the ranks quickly, becoming an International Trade Specialist in 1997, before claiming the title of senior policy advisor to the Secretary for International Trade in 1999.

 

“I worked with him in the Department of Commerce and I always found him to be a good and decent guy. A nice pleasant guy,” one former colleague told The Post of Schwerin.

 

Hunter Biden was the same age as Schwerin and fresh out of Yale Law School, where he had won admission after President Clinton personally lobbied Dean Guido Calabresi to admit him. After bouncing around some cushy banking gigs in Delaware, he landed at Commerce as a “policy director specializing in the burgeoning Internet economy,” according to the New Yorker.

 

The pair hit it off. When George W. Bush became president, Hunter Biden left government and started a lobbying shop with William Oldaker, a D.C. lawyer who worked on his father’s aborted 1988 presidential campaign. In 2002 Schwerin joined them and became a partner in the company, lobbying disclosure forms show.

 

In 2008 Sen. Barack Obama sought more than $3.4 million in congressional earmarks for Hunter’s clients, the Washington Post reported at the time.

 

Schwerin stayed with the lobbying firm until 2008. That same year Joe Biden was elected vice president of the United States and both Hunter Biden and Schwerin were ready for their next moves.

 

Conveniently, in 2004, Schwerin had purchased a three-bedroom townhouse in the upscale Glover Park neighborhood of DC. The area, known for ambassador’s residences and stately homes, is a 20-minute walk from the Naval Observatory, where the vice president’s residence is located.

 

Schwerin visited the residence at least 13 times during Joe Biden’s vice presidency, mostly for official parties and receptions.

 

On June 25, 2009, Hunter Biden founded his investment firm Rosemont Seneca Partners with Chris Heinz, the ketchup fortune heir and stepson of John Kerry and Devon Archer, a one-time Abercrombie & Fitch model. Schwerin was enlisted to be its president. The fund aggressively pursued deals in Russia, Romania, Ukraine, China and elsewhere.

 

During the eight years of Joe Biden’s vice presidency, Schwerin gradually became a de facto financial planner for the wider Biden family.

 

Emails from Hunter Biden’s abandoned hard drive show Schwerin moving money on behalf of father and son and helping Hunter Biden handle family expenses. Schwerin received Joe Biden’s “Delaware tax refund check” while he was vice president and the two talked by phone about the Joe Biden’s mortgage.

“He did financial stuff for the family but that’s really all I know,” Margaret Campbell, a former special assistant to Jill Biden, previously told The Post.

 

After Hunter Biden’s aunt Valerie Biden Owens finished a four-month stint at the United Nations in September 2016, Schwerin sent a memo to Hunter Biden outlining a plan for Aunt Val to handle consulting projects at the Biden Foundation and University of Delaware, with each gig paying $12,500 per month, according to Miranda Devine’s book “Laptop from Hell.”

 

The Bidens returned the favor, using their influence in the White House to help Schwerin land a plum presidential appointment to the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad in 2015.

By the end of Biden’s term as vice president, Schwerin had become a DC power player. His birthday was noted in Politico Playbook and he served as chairman of 826DC, a trendy non-profit dedicated to helping students develop “creative and expository writing skills.”

In a superbly tone-deaf statement, the Israeli official added that losing Abu Akleh was a "huge mistake", but that they need to "try to think forward for the future.”

 

Frej also highlighted the stark division within “Israel” by saying: “We have a lot of problems. We know that we have a lot of problems, but this is a problem you cannot translate (into saying) Israel is an apartheid state”.

 

For the longest time, Saudi Arabia claimed that it is not a supporter of normalization, citing its past support for Palestine and condemnation of Israeli violations against the Palestinian people. Former Australian of the Year Grace Tame is calling on the federal government to close a legal loophole that allows paedophiles to quarantine their superannuation from sexual abuse survivors.

Bergamo is the town most affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, not only in the Lombardy Region but also throughout Italy, with >9000 COVID-positive cases, and 2300 ascertained deaths. Unfortunately, the infection is not even sparing young people.

 

The consequences of the COVID-19 emergency for the entire ‘Papa Giovanni XXIII’ Hospital of Bergamo have been dramatic. At present (mid-March), from a total of 779 hospital beds, >500 are occupied by COVID-positive patients. The 46 beds previously reserved for the ICU (intensive care unit) have been increased to 100, of which 88 are occupied by COVID-positive patients, all of them intubated and with an average age of 61 years.

 

Due to the shortage of resources , a triage of the patients to be intubated was needed, based on data such as age, presence of comorbidity, degree of respiratory failure severity, and life expectancy.

 

Although our hospital structure is at the forefront and with great flexibility for organization, during the last month it has run the risk of collapse, facing such a violent epidemic comparable to a tsunami, from which it differs in terms of time, lasting not a single day but more than a month.

Defiant Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin on Friday said he will evaluate the Defense Department’s policies in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade.

 

According to federal law, troops cannot use their Tricare health insurance to pay for abortions.

 

Furthermore, female servicemembers will only have access to private medical facilities that perform abortions in states that allow the procedure following the Supreme Court’s ruling on Roe v Wade.

 

Lloyd Austin is now evaluating the Defense Department’s policies to make sure female servicemembers are provided ‘seamless access to reproductive health care as permitted by federal law.’

 

“Nothing is more important to me or to this Department than the health and well-being of our Service members, the civilian workforce and DOD families,” the Pentagon chief announced. “I am committed to taking care of our people and ensuring the readiness and resilience of our Force. The Department is examining this decision closely and evaluating our policies to ensure we continue to provide seamless access to reproductive health care as permitted by federal law.”

Female troops seeking the procedure already face steep hurdles to getting the care they need: They cannot get abortions at military medical facilities, and federal law also prevents troops from using their Tricare health insurance to cover the cost of the procedures at private facilities, unless the life of the mother is at risk due to the Hyde Amendment.

 

Another challenge is that women in the military can’t easily — or discreetly — leave their stations to travel to a different state to obtain the procedure.

 

But those rules are all up to the individual services. Defense Secretary LLOYD AUSTIN’s office is taking the lead on formulating any new policies for how female servicemembers stationed in states that have outlawed abortion can or can’t transfer elsewhere or receive the procedure, two defense officials told POLITICO.

Hunter Biden raged at sister-in-law-turned-lover Hallie after she tossed his gun in trash: report

 

Hunter Biden flipped out on his sister-in-law-turned-lover, Hallie Biden, for ditching ​his handgun in a trash can in 2018, accusing her of making him look like an “abusive pedophile with homicidal tendencies” and asking her “do you want me dead,” ​according to a new report Wednesday.

 

During an hours-long text conversation on Oct. 23, 2018, the now-disgraced first son tore into his paramour for tossing the .38-caliber revolver in a garbage bin outside a grocery store in Wilmington, Del. — saying at one point: “I won’t ever recover from this,” the Washington Examiner reported.

 

“There are 5 guns in dads house. There are f​—ing more weapons in your sons room then in an armory,” Hunter messaged Hallie at 9:20 p.m. “What’s my f— up? Owning a gun?”

 

“Beau owned a handgun issued by the state and I[t] was in the front glove compartment of his car,” he wrote more than two hours earlier, referring to his older brother — Delaware’s former attorney general — who passed away from brain cancer in 2015. “So f​— you.”

 

In response to Hallie’s claim that she was afraid her boyfriend would “use” the gun, Hunter fired back: “To do what Hallie.”

 

“They think you’re scared I would shoot you,” he went on before calling her a “f—ing a–hole.”

 

“You now have me as an abusive pedophile with homicidal tendencies,” Hunter went on. “And that’s now in the hands of the FBI.”

 

In March of last year, Politico reported that Delaware State Police and the FBI began an investigation after Hunter’s gun was removed from the trash can and Hallie Biden reported it missing to the store.

 

The outlet also reported that Secret Service agents approached the owner of the shop where the younger Biden purchased the gun 11 days earlier and asked him for the sale paperwork. The owner refused and later turned the documents over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

 

According to Politico, the gun was later returned by a man who had been searching the trash for recyclables and no arrests were made or charges filed in connection with the incident.

 

“It’s hard to believe that anyone is so stupid … so what’s my fault here Hallie that you speak of. Owning a gun that’s in a locked car hidden on another property,” Hunter Biden scolded Hallie in another text at 6:47 p.m. Oct. 23 before asking: “Do you want me dead.”

 

At that point, Hallie Biden attempted to defend her actions, telling Hunter that “I just want you safe. That was not safe” and adding that the car where she found the gun was “open unlocked and windows down and the kids search your car.”

 

Hunter Biden began an affair with Hallie shortly after Beau died of brain cancer in 2015, while Hunter was estranged from his wife, Kathleen Buhle. He and Buhle divorced in 2017 after 24 years of marriage.
