I fucking hate mansplaining.

While working in a call centre, I was on a fifteen minute break and trying to read the Female Eunuch at the time. I'm aware it's out of date, but I studied gender and sexuality and did my degree in media, how people are portrayed and how this affects people of different races, sexualities, genders etc. (A lot of people roll their eyes when I say media, but it felt more like sociology to me..)

Anyway, this utter fucknut walks up to me and leans over my shoulder to see what I was reading. Didn't ask; just leant into my personal space and barked a laugh. He then sat in front of me and mansplained Germaine Greer, why she is bad, why she is wrong, why she isn't someone I should be reading books by.

I stared at him and said I didn't have to justify why I was reading it, that I was studying all sorts of information for my degree and dissertation, and that it was something that was on my personal list to read.

He told me that feminism was 'over' because we 'got the same rights now, why are you complaining?'

Then he said.. 'we GAVE you those rights, WE LOST OUT when it happened.'

Bear in mind we are in a break area and I am quietly minding my own business as is everyone else. Everyone is chattering to other people and whatnot. But they started quieting down when he said that. I was getting mad, but I calmly said that women weren't taking anything from men, we just want to be treated the same, to not be spoken to like children, to be accepted and paid the same for the same job.

Then he fucking dropped a nuke on it by talking over me and saying 'just like slavery! White men lost out on a lot when slavery was abolished!'

I, at this point, had that angry tight feeling in my chest and this tipped me over the edge. Everyone went goddamn silent and I stood up and pointed around the room, yelling 'do you see who you're sitting with? Do you see you're the ONLY white male here? What the fuck is wrong with you? Are you THAT unaware of your surroundings that you just said that giving women the vote and abolishing fucking slavery made white men MISS OUT.' He did like ok around then and noticed that he was indeed the only white male there, and everyone was staring at him like he was a fucking dumpster fire.

I walked away furious, and told my friends around me what had happened, and loudly so people heard. The boys were POC and as he walked past they took off their headphones and stood staring him down. I've never seen such a scared looking man. He later stammered an apology to me, in front of everyone. I said 'okay, but next time, read your audience, and maybe fucking pick up a book.'

He kept asking for an acceptance for his apology, I said no, just because someone says I'm sorry, doesn't magically fix everything, I'm furious and you need to not talk to me ever again.

Goddamnit my blood pressure has gone up just writing that. He was such an obnoxious prick.

The Naval Air Station, which I have been all over on numerous occasions, has no rocket operations of any kind. Was there an unannounced missile launch on Whidbey Island early on Sunday morning?

Greg Johnson of Skunk Bay Weather on the northern Kitsap Peninsula has one of the most impressive weather cam facilities in the nation, including high quality digital cameras photographing the clouds at night. He is an extremely reliable weather observer.

But early Sunday morning he picked up something that is both startling and unexpected: what looks like a missile launch from Whidbey Island.

Here is the picture (with a 20-second exposure) at 3:56 AM Sunday morning from one of his cameras (looking north towards Whidbey Island). Can you see the bright vertical streak on the left side of the figure? Note the illumination both inside and outside the cloud. It really looks like the ascent of a rocket.
