Anons notice anything about this Routh character? Throw some caps on those teeth & maybe some rhinoplasty and an earlobe nip/tuck, and you have Gavin ringer. A theory here, just a hunch, no evidence but spidey senses are tingling a little. We know Newsom was in the wings for POTUS, thus needed body doubles at the ready. Maybe this Routh dude was one of the cast being developed as a Gavin double, but the DS didn’t need him because Newsom never made it to the finish line. Joe Rogan is once again voicing his doubts over ADHD and the use of medication to treat the condition.

 

While interviewing Fox News presenter Kat Timpf, who has been taking ADHD drugs for three decades, Rogan said he wasn't sure what ADHD was or if it should qualify as a disease.

Last British soldiers evacuate the United States

 

On November 25, 1783, the last British soldiers evacuate the United States.

 

The signing of the Treaty of Paris ended hostilities between the United States and Great Britain on September 3, 1783. Sir Guy Carleton, commander of British forces in North America at the time, received orders in August to begin planning the evacuation of all remaining British troops from the United States.

 

The evacuation plans dragged on because of large numbers of Loyalists descending on New York in a panic to flee the country. Nearly 30,000 Loyalists and escaped slaves left with the British, most ending up in Quebec or Nova Scotia.

 

General Carleton finally announced the last of the troops would be leaving at noon on November 25th. George Washington waited outside the city until the British left and their flag was removed from a pole at the Battery at the southern end of Manhattan (A battery is a military fortification with guns or cannons). Wiley British soldiers had hoisted their Union Flag on a greased pole on their way out of the city.

 

Several attempts were made to get the flag down, but were unsuccessful due to the grease. Eventually, American soldier John Van Arsdale was able to climb the pole by nailing pieces of wood to the pole and climbing up on them. He tore the British flag down and replaced it with the American Flag. Shortly after, a triumphant General George Washington entered the city and marched down Broadway to the Battery.

 

For a hundred years after, Evacuation Day was celebrated around the United States, but especially in New York City. Evacuation Day was New York City's biggest celebration of the year for a century and the evacuation was commemorated with a game of boys competing to take down a Union Flag from a greased flagpole in Battery Park. A descendant of John Van Arsdale would then climb the pole and put up a US Flag.

 

Once the Civil War came and Abraham Lincoln announced the annual Thanksgiving Day, Evacuation Day celebrations around the country tended to be absorbed by Thanksgiving Day celebrations. Evacuation Day was eventually lost because the date of November 25 was so close to the Thanksgiving date of the last Thursday of the month. The annual celebrations continued in New York, however, until World War I, at which time people seemed to lose their animosity toward Britain after its allied cooperation with the United States during the war.

If Donald Trump all summer has been compared by his enemies to Hitler and his murderous Third Reich, and if a 20-year-old would-be assassin and murderer with ease took up a sniper’s position to kill Trump—without a notified Secret Service or other law enforcement attempting to abort the shooter’s attempted assassination—what signal does that send to other would-be assassins for the next 80 days of the 2024 campaign?

 

Is the message that if a 20-year-old amateur sniper can brazenly and visibly for nearly an hour breach all Secret Service security perimeters to shoot eight times at the president, hit him in the ear, kill one innocent bystander, and wound two others, then almost any future, more-experienced serious shooter could match or exceed the ability of that disturbed amateur to get close enough to Trump to fire more than eight shots at his head?

 

And that shooting Trump in many leftist quarters would subsequently earn the unhinged killer eternal fame, applause, and immortality?

 

And that if there are such anticipated rewards and perceived opportunities, thenwe may well see more attempts on candidate Trump’s life?

After the would-be assassination attempt, Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York posted this: “Extreme MAGA Republicans are the party of a national abortion ban and Trump’s Project 2025. We must stop them.”

(He was talking about the economic consequences to the U.S. automobile industry of mandating electric vehicles, and outsourcing automobile plants and jobs to Mexico.)

 

Nor did he claim that white supremacists were “good people” at Charlottesville, Virginia—but, as the liberal Snopes fact-checked, just the opposite: “I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally.”

 

These serial assassination attempts, unfortunately, occur in a weary context of Russian collusion, laptop disinformation, state ballot removal, and lawfare.And they are starting to reflect a larger environment of justifying extralegal means to achieve the ends of ending Trump’s presidency and later reelection by any means necessary.

 

So, is it all that hard over the next 50 days for Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to extend adequate Secret Service security for ex-president and Republican presidential nominee Trump (which some congressional Democrats, led by Jan. 6 Committee Co-Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., had sought to stop entirely in April of this year)?

Not ignoring the battery explosion argument, it's just impossible based off the reporting. You can't, precisely trigger, thousands of batteries sequentially unless they themselves were bombs. Normal batteries, even if the safeties fail don't provide a percussive explosion. That loud pop sound is the breaking of the sound barrier, you aren't getting that from a battery. You get a smaller pop followed by flames and a hiss. I'm not an explosives expert but it's just basic science. How explosives got into their pagers, dunno but they clearly did.

I had a neighbor at Ft Bragg ho gave their son meds during school, none during the weekends or school breaks. A nearly four-year-old legal effort by Black voters to convince a court to prevent former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party from potentially intimidating voters and poll workers is quietly coming back to life as the 2024 election approaches.

 

First brought in the days following the 2020 election, the lawsuit has moved slowly through the federal courts in Washington, DC, as Trump’s claims of presidential immunity from civil lawsuits were being litigated. It coincidently haslanded before US District Judge Tanya Chutkan, the judge handling the federal election subversion charges against Trump.

 

But now, the case is beginning to show signs of movement.

 

The case could have enormous implications for this election and future ones: The voters are asking a federal judge to put Trump, his campaign and the Republican National Committee under court supervision that would require them to seek pre-approval before “engaging in any activities related to recounts, certifications, or similar post-election activities,” and to bar the defendants from intimidating voters, poll workers and other election officials.

 

If the plaintiffs ultimately prevail, their victory could provide them with a significant deterrence against potential intimidation and harassment of election workers and voters from Republicans as Trump and his allies signal that they will again try to undermine the results of the election.

 

The type of supervision sought by the voters is not new for the Republican Party: The GOP had previously been under a court-ordered consent decree from the early 1980s until 2017 that barred it from engaging in practices that could intimidate or discriminate against Black voters.

 

Rajiv Parikh, an attorney who represented the Democratic Party during part of the long-running case against the RNC that resulted in the now-expired consent decree, said courts play a critical role in preventing the type of intimidation that the Black voters are alleging occurred during the 2020 election.

 

“Just because your intention isn’t to discriminate against a group or to intimidate somebody, if what you do has the effect of doing that, then it really is going to be up to a court as an independent arbiter of what’s appropriate or what’s not to decide that,” he said.

 

At the heart of the lawsuit are claims by Black voters in Michigan that the defendants worked together in 2020 to unlawfully disenfranchise them and other voters in “major metropolitan areas with large Black voter populations” through “disrupting vote counting efforts, lodging groundless challenges during recounts, and attempting to block certification of election results through intimidation and coercion of election officials and volunteers.”

 

In doing so, the lawsuit alleges, the defendants violated the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Ku Klux Klan Act, a Reconstruction-era law passed to combat violence by the White supremacist group and allow people to take civil action against individuals who “conspire to prevent by force, intimidation, or threat,” participation in US elections.

 

Attorneys for Trump and the RNC have asked to dismiss the case, saying any conduct at issue constitutes protected political speech.

 

“This is simply a transparent attempt to quell political dissent and chill political speech,” a lawyer for Trump and his campaign wrote in a filing last year. “Even assuming all the allegations are true, President Trump and his Campaign engaged in simple and straightforward political speech during an important political dispute.”

 

Chutkan has yet to make any substantial rulings in the matter. She was randomly assignedthe pivotal case last October, receiving it months after she started overseeing the criminal case brought by special counsel Jack Smith against Trump. Weeks later, the judge stressed the need to have “some forward motion” in the civil matter as the nation barreled toward the presidential election. (Sure, right, we believe the BS Judge that can't prosecute Trump now, will make the right decision.)

 

“It’s been pending for a long time. At a certain point, a failure to decide means that it effectively denies the plaintiffs their remedy,” Chutkan said during a hearing in late November.

On Sept. 17, 1789, the British astronomer William Herschel discovered Saturn's "Death Star" moon, Mimas.

Of course, "Star Wars" wasn't a thing at the time, and no one had ever heard of something called a "Death Star."

But there's no denying that this moon looks just like it.

 

Anyway, Herschel was a guy who liked to build telescopes and discover things, like the planet Uranus, tiny moons around Jupiter and Saturn, and other stuff out there in space.

Shortly after he invented a huge new kind of reflecting telescope called the Herschelian telescope, he spotted Mimas orbiting Saturn.

 

Mimas is super tiny with a diameter of less than 250 miles.

It is the smallest known spherical body in space that is held together by self-gravitation.

On the evening of Sept. 17, a partial lunar eclipse will turn the moon a murky red-brown color when Earth's shadow descends upon the lunar surface.

The partial lunar eclipse will be visible from most of North America, all of South America, Europe, all but the easternmost parts of Africa, western portions of Asia and Russia, and parts of Antarctica.

 

The exact timing of the partial lunar eclipse depends on your location and you can use websites like Timeanddate.com to find specific timings based on your location.

For those in the U.S. Eastern Time Zone, the eclipse will reach its darkest phase, with the moon most obscured by Earth's umbra, at approximately 10:44 p.m. EDT on Sept. 17.

In Europe and Africa, the eclipse will occur during the early morning hours of Sept. 18. In London, the peak of the eclipse will be visible around 3:45 a.m. BST on September 18.

We have rounded up several lunar eclipse livestreams that are showing the Super Harvest Moon on Sept. 17.

In a partial lunar eclipse, only a portion of the moon passes into Earth's shadow, creating the appearance of a hazy "bite" taken out of the lunar surface.

The shadow will darken the side of the moon facing Earth. The size of this "bite" is determined by the alignment of the sun, Earth, and moon.

 

About 3.5% of the moon's visible surface will be covered by the darkest part of Earth's shadow, the umbra.

The rest of the Full Moon will take on a slightly reddish-brown appearance as the lighter portion of Earth's shadow which doesn't entirely block the sun's light will descend upon a majority of the lunar surface.

The partial lunar eclipse is extra special as it also falls during a "supermoon", the second of four supermoons in a row for 2024.

 

A supermoon happens when a full moon coincides with the moon's closest point to Earth in its orbit (which is elliptical-shaped).

As a result, the moon appears slightly brighter and larger than usual, although the difference is subtle and hard to detect with the naked eye.

The term supermoon generally refers to a full moon within 90% of its closest approach to Earth.

According to Fred Espanak, eclipse expert and retired NASA astrophysicist, there will be four supermoons in 2024, in August, September, October and November.

 

Approximately two weeks after the lunar eclipse Earth will experience an annular solar eclipse on Oct. 2.

The dazzling "ring of fire" solar eclipse will be visible over parts of the Pacific Ocean, southern Chile and southern Argentina.

Jewish Groups Issue Travel Warning About Massachusetts County Where Man Charged in Self-Defense Shooting

Three Jewish organizations have issued a travel warning and are calling for an economic boycott of Middlesex County, Massachusetts after a pro-Israel demonstrator was charged with assault and battery after shooting a man who attacked him during a rally last week. Betar USA, Magen Herut Canada, and Shields of David say until all charges are dropped against Scott Hayes, Americans should stay away from the county in the Boston suburbs, including the town of Newton where the attack took place.

 

Michael Sinensky, Executive Director of Betar USA said, “These are dangerous times in America for those who stand with Israel. When a decorated Iraq War veteran and American citizen is prosecuted for defending himself against an individual who attacked him and openly supports a terrorist organization, it sends a chilling message: Middlesex County is not a safe place for anyone who values liberty, justice, and security.

 

"District Attorney Marian Ryan must know and understand this case is much larger than Scott Hayes. This case sends a chilling message to all Americans they cannot protect themselves in Massachusetts if attacked.

 

"We urge all Americans to stand with us, refuse to visit, and withhold their spending in all towns in Middlesex county, including Newton, Massachusetts, until this gross miscarriage of justice is corrected.

 

"We are in touch with community members, Rabbis and leaders these areas. We expect to have representatives in the courtroom and in the area for any future court appearances.

 

"We expect other organizations to join our call to action and will commence an advertising and marketing campaign calling on Americans to avoid visiting until charges against Hayes are dropped.”

 

Hayes, meanwhile, has seen an outpouring of support since he was charged with shooting the pro-Palestinian supporter Caleb Gannon, who ran across the street and tackled Hayes during the pro-Israel demonstration in Newton last week. A GoFundMe set up to support Hayes in his legal battle has raised nearly $250,000 over the past couple of days, with more than 3,500 people donating.

 

Hayes was released on bail after his arraignment on Friday, and prosecutors say Gannon has been charged with assault and battery as well. But attorney Glenn MacKinlay, who's representing Hayes, says his client never should have been charged in the first place, calling his actions a "textbook case of self-defense."

 

Hayes' supporters said he's not Jewish but often attends pro-Israel rallies. They said he's a peaceful person, a single father and a decorated veteran of the Iraq War.

 

"He was standing peacefully and attacked and the notion that all of us could be attacked at any time just for standing out for what we believe in is horrifying," said Aylit Schultz.

 

Supporters say it's not just a case of self-defense but an act of antisemitism that has left them fearful.

 

"For the first time in my life, I'm afraid to be Jewish," said Aduna Troen. "What kind of world is that?"

 

Hayes was released on $5,000 bail, which was raised by his supporters. He must wear a GPS monitor on weekends, has a curfew during the week, has to stay away from Gannon and Newton and not carry any firearms.

 

It's utterly ridiculous, in my opinion, that Hayes is still facing charges after prosecutors have had the chance to view video of the attack, which clearly shows Gannon running across the street and hurling himself at Hayes, sending both men to the ground before Gannon put Hayes in a chokehold.

 

There was only one aggressor in this case, and he was shot after attacking a stranger who was lawfully exercising his First Amendment rights. After the shooting, Hayes and other demonstrators even attempted to render aid to Gannon. Now this veteran is facing felony charges for defending himself from his assailant.

 

We already know that Massachusetts has some of the worst gun laws in the nation, but the right to defend yourself still exists… at least on paper. Unless prosecutors drop these charges, however, it's going to be up to a jury to prove that self-defense isn't a prohibited activity.

Earth from space: Ghostly figure emerges in Greenland ice after underground lake collapses

Scientists were shocked when they discovered a large, ghostly figure that suddenly appeared in satellite images of Greenland 13 years ago.

The icy apparition was created by a depression in the snow-covered surface, which formed when an underground lake located directly beneath the figure collapsed.

 

The blobby specter, which looked like a shapeless figure waving up at space, was spotted in the Flade Isblink ice cap — a roughly 3,300-square-mile (8,550 square kilometers) ice cap sitting on Greenland's northernmost coastline, deep within the Arctic Circle.

The icy hole was around 2 miles (3 kilometers) long and just over 1 mile (2 km) across its widest point, and was 230 feet (70 meters) deep when it first appeared, according to NASA's Earth Observatory.

 

The spooky structure, which researchers also referred to as "the mitten" due to its glove-like shape, formed at some point between Aug. 16 and Sept. 6, 2011, when the area was obscured by cloud cover in satellite photos.

In a 2015 paper, researchers revealed that the depression appeared when a subglacial lake rapidly drained of water, leaving behind an underground cavern that swiftly collapsed.

At the peak of this draining event, scientists estimated that 7,600 cubic feet (215 cubic meters) of water escaped the lake every second.

 

This event was "perhaps the first recorded instance of a rapid drainage of a subglacial lake in Greenland," Kelly Brunt, a glaciologist at NASA's Cryospheric Sciences Laboratory who was not involved in the study, told NASA's Earth Observatory in 2015.

The majority of similar submerged lakes in the country are considered to be very stable, she added.

 

Researchers continued to monitor the depression, and in 2022, a follow-up study revealed that the subglacial lake had been slowly refilling since 2012.

By 2021, the floor of the depression had risen by 180 feet (55 m) — rising to 50 feet (15 m) below the surrounding ice — despite a second, smaller draining event in 2019.

 

Researchers initially believed the majority of the water that reentered the lake came from surface meltwater that trickled down below the ground.

However, calculations later revealed that meltwater could only account for 65% of the water in the lake, meaning some other unknown source of water was also at work.

It is still unclear why the subglacial lake drained so quickly in 2011.

 

However, researchers suspect that human-caused climate change may have played a role.

Several subglacial lakes in Antarctica have also undergone similar collapses in recent years, and scientists fear that the escaping water could further accelerate ice loss in some areas.

White Hats last night scrapped a hastily conceived plan to “steal” Ryan Routh, the registered Democrat who authored a manifesto giving Iran “permission” to assassinate Trump, from federal custody and move him to a place more befitting of his crime, such as JAG’s Pensacola headquarters or, better, Guantanamo Bay, a source in General Eric M. Smith’s office told Real Raw News.

 

Unreported by the MSM, a jurisdictional dispute followed the arrest. President Trump’s Private Protection Force—US Navy SEALs and vetted contractors—had an intense argument with the “hundreds” of FBI agents that appeared as if by magic in West Palm Beach within minutes of Routh’s arrest. They verbally squabbled about who would take charge of Routh, and the feds told Trump’s people that neither they nor Trump had authority over what was clearly a federal crime to be managed by the FBI and the Department of Justice. They outnumbered Trump’s security force 20-1.

 

“It obviously wasn’t a good time to get into a gunfight with the FBI. We want Routh because we believe he’ll disappear, and if he ever does see a day in federal court, I doubt whoever stands trial will be the real Routh,” our source said.

 

White Hats, he added, grew more suspicious about the fed’s motives after the FBI released a photograph of an AK47-style rifle, a backpack, and a GoPro camera found near the spot where Routh had perched himself for the shot, outside the fence between the 6th and 7th hole. Our source said the feds, for reasons unclear, omitted showing the public additional evidence—a ghillie suit, camouflage clothing used by snipers and designed to resemble the background environment, a portable radio similar to a make and model FBI agents carry, and a satellite phone.

 

Our source explained that the ghillie suit probably helped Routh remain undetected for the 12 hours he had allegedly hidden himself in dense shrubbery along the fence line.

 

“So, if the feds gave him the radio, we get why they’d not mention that, but why not show the suit and radio—makes no sense unless they’re somehow involved in the ordeal. Gen. Smith thought it’d be better to get Routh sooner than later,” our source said.

 

Gen. Smith, he added, consulted allies at US Army Special Operations Command to ask whether Special Forces could extract Routh from the Palm Beach Criminal Justice Complex without causing a bloodbath or media frenzy. The general’s contacts weren’t optimistic. They said success would hinge on the disposition of enemy forces, how many special agents the Bureau had placed there, and recommended that SEALs at Mar-a-Lago, only a few miles from the criminal justice complex, surveil the area ahead of planning a major incursion.

 

“There was discussion about whether Routh was still in Palm Beach, because the feds could’ve secretly whisked him off to DC, and Gen. Smith was reluctant about repurposing the SEALs because they’re at Mar-a-Lago to prevent another federal invasion and guard Trump’s property, friends, and family. Gen. Smith eventually agreed to have a few SEALs check out the place,” our source said.

 

The SEAL Team’s sitrep painted a bleak analysis of the circumstances. They estimated that more than 250 FBI special agents augmented existing law enforcement, whose loyalties remain unknown (the Deep State has penetrated almost every law enforcement agency), at the facility.

 

“Even if half that number left at night, we’d still have had a huge hurdle. The casualties on both sides would’ve been catastrophic. We don’t object to neutralizing corrupt feds, but we’re not sending our guys into an unwinnable fight. And Routh probably would’ve been killed in the crossfire, and we want him breathing,” our source said.

 

He said Gen. Smith had almost committed to the plan but at the last moment called it off after deducing that thirty percent of friendly forces might end up in caskets draped with American Flags.

 

In closing, we asked our source why Trump’s Private Protection Force hadn’t identified vulnerabilities on the golf course during their previous outings with President Trump.

 

“Besides the few Secret Service on the ground, and those agents were handpicked by Trump and vetted by us, there were only three SEALs on the greens. It’s a big golf course. There’s a public misconception that we’re supermen; elite doesn’t mean supermen. We’re not perfect or invincible, but we’re doing our best despite immense opposition.”

China's 'Shock' Statement: Palestinians Have Right To Use 'Armed Force' Against Israel

China has backed the right of the Palestinian people to use armed force to combat Israel's occupation of their land, calling it an "an inalienable right well founded in international law".

The comments on Thursday were made by the Chinese ambassador to the UN, Zhang Jun, during the fourth day of public hearings held by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, Netherlands.

Representatives of 52 countries are addressing the ICJ on Israel's decades-long occupation of Palestinian land.

Beijing’s envoy said there were "various people (who) freed themselves from colonial rule" and they could use "all available means, including armed struggle".

He described the Palestinian use of armed resistance as legitimate and not an act of terrorism.

 

"The struggle waged by peoples for their liberation, right to self-determination, including armed struggle against colonialism, occupation, aggression, domination against foreign forces should not be considered terror acts," Zhang Jun told the court.

 

In his speech, Jun criticized Israeli policies, characterizing them as “oppression that has severely undermined and impeded the exercises and full realization of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination".

The ICJ’s public hearings, which will be held until February 26, come after a UN General Assembly resolution requesting an ICJ advisory opinion.

The number of states participating in the oral proceedings is the highest of any case since the ICJ's establishment in 1945 and is separate to the more publicized genocide case brought by South Africa. A panel of 15 judges are expected to take about six months to deliberate before issuing an advisory opinion.

Besides China, other countries scheduled to participate in the hearings include Hungary, France, South Africa and Egypt.

International bodies, including the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the African Union will also take part. Israel will not participate but has sent written observations to the court.

This evening, gunshots rang out across the parking lot of one of Trump’s golf courses in what some are calling a second assassination attempt. The President is fine. But Laura Loomer is racing to the scene anyway, as she did the last time—later claiming that it was the President who wanted her there to comfort him in the aftermath of Thomas Crooks’ failed shooting.

How Loomer expects to protect Trump isn’t clear, given that she is barred from owning a firearm anywhere in the United States. In fundraising emails, Laura Loomer tells her fans that she has been targeted by the FBI for political persecution. They’ve blacklisted her from owning a gun, she says, which threatens her physical safety.

But Loomer’s account misses out a critical detail: It’s not her politics, but rather her fragile mental state that prompted the Bureau to block her from possessing a firearm. Far from singling her out, the FBI has bent over backwards to gently explain to Loomer why she is not a fit person to own a gun.

For instance, a letter they sent her in 2020, in response to her appeal, delicately cited the two involuntary psychiatric holds her own father, Jeff Loomer, had placed her under in the prior half-decade. I know because I’ve seen the letter they sent her in response to her appeal. I have a copy of it in my safe in Los Angeles.

And I know because Jeff, at first reluctant to speak with me, but eventually, once again fearing for his daughter’s mental health this week, confirmed it by telephone on Friday. Jeff, evidently frightened of his daughter, spoke in hushed tones about her emotional volatility and admitted she had attempted suicide several times. “I wouldn’t allow her a gun,” he admitted.

Laura Loomer has been diagnosed at various times and by various doctors as suffering from bipolar disorder, histrionic personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, and narcissistic personality disorder. Loomer’s mother, whom we are not naming today, is an alcoholic, manic depressive and suffers from bipolar disorder, in common with her daughter.

“I just remember the police were often at my home.” Loomer told The Spectator in 2019. “I grew up a very anxious, depressed kid. I had struggles with depression, so I would use politics as a kind of outlet to escape all the dysfunction of my life.”

“I had really bad anxiety and depression, and then I started to basically deal with the depression by doing cocaine. I was never a drug user before, but I was using cocaine to kind of deal with it.

“There were phases when I wouldn’t sleep for three days straight, and one morning I woke up and drove myself to a cliff, and it was cold and kind of snowy outside. It was February. I tried to kill myself… like, legitimately tried to kill myself.”

Journalist Jon Levine says Loomer once texted him: “What is the point of life anymore? … I’d rather kill myself than let them take a victory lap.”

Loomer has two brothers. One is a violent schizophrenic who is permanently incarcerated in a psychiatric facility. He will never be released. The other also suffers from depression and mood disorders, and has been in and out of institutions all his life. We are not naming either brother for the sake of their privacy.

Years earlier, James O’Keefe had taken Loomer out of the field during her employment at Project Veritas until she got back on her medication. O'Keefe declined to comment for this story, possibly because, according to two people who worked with Loomer between 2021 and 2023, Laura claims she secretly filmed the pair of them having sex, and says she threatened O’Keefe that she would release the tape if he ever talked about her publicly.

In order for Loomer to run for office, her general consultant required that she regularly see a psychiatrist, and that she stay on every medication prescribed to her. She didn’t. Eight days out from the election in 2020, Loomer–after being confronted about sexually assaulting a young male campaign volunteer–called advisor Roger Stone, and told him she had driven past the retailer Lowe’s several times, mulling over the purchase of rope with which to hang herself.

The news surprised no one. Nor did the oblivious ingratitude of shopping at Lowe’s when the founder of Home Depot was a major donor to her campaign. Even when contemplating suicide, Loomer couldn’t stay loyal to the people who were loyal to her.

After losing the election, Loomer was confined to the guest bedroom of a well-known Palm Beach County political operative on suicide watch. “I have nothing to live for,” Loomer would repeat on an endless cycle, wandering listless through the four-bedroom gated community mansion.

“I was supposed to be the youngest ever Member of Congress,” she complained despairingly. “Now I have nothing. I have nothing. My life is ruined. I have no future.”

I have copies of several of her presecriptions, and a photograph of her bedside table and another of her handbag showing medication labels that confirm she was on high doses of powerful antipsychotic drugs. I am not releasing these photographs to the public at this time.

The FBI declined to comment on the specifics of Loomer’s case, citing confidentiality, but confirmed that it was “extremely likely” that any citizen with her mental health history would not be permitted a firearm, in Florida or any other state.

Every member of Laura Loomer’s 2020 campaign staff approached by me ahead of publication declined to comment. Each of them gave the same reason: Fear of public reprisals. Laura Loomer did not return a request for comment.

A tearful Jeff Loomer declined to say over the phone whether he was currently considering another involuntary psychiatric hold for his daughter, given her bizarre claim this week that she has been performing oral sex on President Trump, but did not rule it out.

U.S. military invests $12.5 million in Ursa Major for solid rocket development

Ursa Major, a Colorado-based rocket propulsion company, has secured $12.5 million in new funding from the U.S. military to advance the development and production of solid rocket motors, the company announced Sept. 17.

The funding, a joint investment from the U.S. Navy and the Pentagon’s Office of Strategic Capital (OSC), will be matched by Ursa Major, bringing the total investment to $25 million.

 

The company said the new investment will support the design, manufacture, and testing of a solid rocket motor prototype for the U.S. Navy.

Ursa Major is already working on solid rocket motors for the Navy under a separate award.

 

The Pentagon’s move comes as it seeks to diversify its supplier base amid concerns about overreliance on a shrinking pool of domestic suppliers for solid rocket motors.

Ongoing conflicts in Eastern Europe and the Middle East have strained existing production capacity, particularly for tactical solid rocket motors.

 

“We are proud to work with OSC on their mandate for expanding the defense industrial base by bringing new innovations into the DoD ecosystem,” said Dan Jablonsky, chief executive of Ursa Major.

Jablonsky highlighted the company’s new manufacturing approach called Lynx, which leverages 3D printing technology to enhance the production of solid rocket motors, aiming for a faster, more cost-effective, and scalable process compared to traditional methods.

 

The OSC, established in 2022 and formally enacted by Congress in 2024, has authorities to issue loans and loan guarantees.

It aims to leverage U.S. capital markets to increase private investment in technologies vital to the Department of Defense’s needs, including those that may not attract sufficient private funding through traditional procurement methods.

Ursa Major has also secured several contracts from the U.S. Air Force for propulsion technology.

Software fix planned to correct Ariane 6 upper stage issue

European officials say a software change should correct a problem on the inaugural Ariane 6 launch in July that prevented the rocket’s upper stage from performing a final maneuver.

The Ariane 6 task force, which includes the European Space Agency, French space agency CNES, ArianeGroup and Arianespace, said in a joint statement Sept. 16 that a review of the data collected during the July 9 inaugural launch found “no showstoppers” for a second mission, currently scheduled for the end of this year.

 

That inaugural launch was not perfect, though, as the Vinci engine in the rocket’s upper stage failed to reignite for a final burn to deorbit the stage.

The stage’s auxiliary propulsion unit (APU) did not start up during a long coast phase, which prevented the Vinci engine from performing that final burn at the end of the mission, leaving the stage in low Earth orbit.

In its statement, the task force said that one temperature measurement exceeded a limit, triggering a shutdown of the APU.

Engineers will implement a software change to adjust the chill-down of the APU “to improve ignition conditions and solve the identified anomaly.”

 

That will not require any changes to vehicle hardware itself. The software change will be implemented before the next Ariane 6 launch, of the French military’s CSO-3 reconnaissance satellite, said Stéphane Israël, chief executive of Arianespace, during a Sept. 16 briefing held in conjunction with World Space Business Week here.

“We could have done the second flight without correcting it,” he said, since the mission does not require multiple burns of the Vinci engine to place the satellite in its planned orbit.

“But we want to deorbit the second stage during this second flight, and to deorbit the upper stage we need to correct what has happened.”

 

He added that the software change needed to fix the problem should be “quite easy” to implement.

The task force statement mentioned a “few unexpected behaviors” with the inaugural launch but didn’t elaborate on those issues and any changes needed for the second launch.

Israël said Arianespace is still planning to conduct the second Ariane 6 launch by the end of the year, weeks after the return to flight of the Vega C rocket currently planned for late November or early December, even with the APU software change.

“We will see if we match this objective in the coming weeks and months,” he said of the schedule.

Suspect in beating death of woman found near river arrested in Montana

New Orleans Police say they have identified a suspect in the murder of a woman whose body was found under a riverfront wharf.

 

NOPD announced Tuesday that 36-year-old Courtney Cantrell is in custody in Poplar, Montana, where Fort Peck Tribal Police arrested him.

 

"A hearing is scheduled to accomplish the extradition process, which will involve transferring custody of Courtney Cantrell from the Tribal Police to State of Montana authorities, and then to New Orleans Police," said NOPD.

 

Police say Cantrell beat and strangled 45-year-old Patricia Fitzgerald. Her body was found under the wharf near the Mississippi River and Esplanade Ave.

Mollie Fitzgerald, 38, who had a minor role in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of her mother Patricia Fitzgerald, The Kansas City Star reported.

 

The 68-year-old was found dead in her home on the 10200 block of South Shadow Circle in Olathe, Kansas, on December 20 last year, the Olathe Police Department said. Mollie Fitzgerald was arrested on December 31 in connection with the death.

 

According to court records obtained by The Star, Mollie Fitzgerald called 911 just before 12 p.m. that day to report she had killed her mother in self-defense.

Space Force awards $45 million to universities for propulsion and power research

The U.S. Space Force awarded nearly $45 million to the Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Michigan to spearhead advanced research in space power and propulsion.

These universities will lead the third Space Strategic Technology Institute, part of the Space Force’s University Consortium initiative.

The program, which is also supported by the Air Force Research Laboratory, aims to foster academic research aligned with the strategic needs of the Space Force.

“This research will enable game-changing space power and propulsion technology transition to the Department of Defense,” the Space Force said in its announcement of the contracts.

 

Critical technologies

Under the latest round of contracts, the University of Michigan will receive $34.9 million, while RIT will be awarded $9.9 million.

Both institutions will lead teams of academic and industry partners to explore innovations in solar cell technology, thruster technology, and novel power approaches.

 

The Space Force’s University Consortium in earlier phases awarded $6.4 million to the University of Colorado Boulder and Virginia Polytechnic Institute for the first Space Strategic Technology Institute, focusing on space domain awareness.

Another $49.1 million was allocated to the University of Cincinnati and Texas A&M University for research in space access, mobility, and logistics under the second institute.

Space Force leaders said these investments serve a dual purpose: addressing technical challenges in the space domain while also cultivating a skilled workforce in the space sector.

France kicks off space surveillance program for LEO

The French Defense Innovation Agency and armament agency DGA unveiled a low-Earth orbit space surveillance program at the Space Defense and Security Summit here.

French startup U-space will work with multinational missile supplier MBDA to develop a pair of satellites to demonstrate spacecraft detection, characterization and targeting.

The program, known as Toutatis, includes a 12-unit “Spotter” cubesat and a smaller target cubesat.

No launch has yet been announced but the satellites are likely to reach orbit in couple of years.

 

Active Defense

France seeks an “active defense capability” for space assets, said Eva Portier, DGA deputy for space.

A video showed the “Spotter” satellite detecting the target, sharing imagery with a ground-based tactical operations center and dazzling the target with a laser.

The DGA is committed to protecting space assets within 36,000 kilometers of Earth, Portier said.

 

First, it’s essential to better understand what’s happening in space, said Maj. Gen. Philippe Adam, French Space Command leader.

France already is working on surveillance in geosynchronous orbit through a program called Yoda.

Two small satellites being built by Hemeria are equipped with cameras from the French space agency CNES to investigate space-based threats.

France’s annual military space exercise, AsterX, continues to underscore the need for improved situational awareness in low-Earth orbit.

 

The Toutatis program shows how France will take advantage of the NewSpace sector to fill technological gaps, said Maj. Gen. Patrick Aufort, Defense Innovation Agency director.

Zelensky (Stupidly) takes veiled swipe at China

The Ukrainian leader has seemingly hit out at Beijing over export restrictions on drones

 

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has taken what appears to be aveiled swipe at China over its tighter controls on drone exports.

 

Beijing introduced two-year controls on foreign sales of civilian drones and related equipment last year, after facing claims that Ukraine and Russia were both “weaponizing” Chinese products. It further adjusted the rules in July, with the new restrictions coming into force on September 1.

 

In a social media post on Monday,Zelensky appeared to hit out at the measures, writing: “Some largest states exporting drone components are introducing export restrictions. We know what to do so that those restrictions are not critical to us.”

 

Last year, Russia and Ukraine both reportedly rearranged supply chains to continue the flow of Chinese drone components through intermediaries. There have been concerns in Kiev that the latest adjustment will cause further disruption, making the acquisition process lengthier and more expensive.

 

Ukrainian officials claim they have made significant strides in domestic manufacturing of weapons, particularly drones. However, the country still relies heavily on foreign parts, including from China.

 

“Logistics alone takes five to six months, and there is also time required for manufacturing,”Artyom Vyunnik, the CEO of a Ukrainian drone producer, said in an interview in January. Combined with red tape related to the military nature of contracts, drone makers have problems adapting promptly to the changing demands on the front line, he added.

 

Zelensky has recently directed several barbs at China, which he claims is taking Russia’s side in the conflict. Last week, he accused Beijing of colluding with Brazil to advocate what he called a “destructive” peace proposal. The Ukrainian leader was also unhappy that Kiev was not approached to approve the proposal.

 

While preparing for a so-called ‘peace summit’ in Switzerland in the summer,Zelensky denounced China as a Russian “tool,” claiming that Beijing was secretly working to undermine the event on Moscow’s behalf. Russia did not attend the gathering, which it called detached from reality and irrelevant.

 

China maintains that it is neutral in the Ukraine conflict, and that it is seeking an end to the fighting and a resolution to address the concerns of both parties. Beijing has explained its restrictions on drone exports as a desire to prevent their misuse for military purposes.

 

(Zelensky is asking China and others to end his life. CIA will probably accommodate this and blame it on China. His usefulness is coming to an end and seems not to be aware of it.)

Russia is closely watching the situation in the US but is not interfering by any means, spokesman Dmitry Peskov says

 

The links between Ukraine and the American man who allegedly tried to kill ex-US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump should concern Washington and its intelligence services rather than Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

 

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Peskov commented on the new assassination attempt on Trump and on the apparent links of the alleged perpetrator to Ukraine.

 

“That’s not us but the US intelligence services who should be thinking about this. In any case, playing with fire has its consequences,” Peskov stated.

 

Moscow is closely watching the situation unfolding in the US after Sunday’s attack on Trump, Peskov continued, noting that the American political landscape seemingly is growing even more “tense.”Russia has “never interfered in this in any way, and we are not interfering now,” he stressed.

The former US president dodged another assassination attempt on Sunday, less than two months after he was shot at and grazed by a bullet during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

 

In the apparent planned gun attack at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, the Republican candidate was playing golf when the armed suspect was detected near the property and shot at by Secret Service agents. The man fled the scene and was apprehended shortly after.

 

The suspect was identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, a former Republican who is now a Democrat and a strong supporter of Kiev. While the suspect had claimed involvement with the Ukrainian military in social media posts and in a self-published book,Kiev acknowledged having contacts with Routh but insisted it had turned down his services, describing his ideas as “delusional.”

Conceding that his future as secretary is connected to the outcome of November’s election, Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall used a high-profile keynote address Sept. 16 to highlight achievements modernizing and reshaping the Air Force and Space Force while also emphasizing unfinished work and the urgency driving it.

“What I’m not doing today is a farewell address,” Kendall emphasized out of the gate, while noting that an election is fast approaching, and he serves at the pleasure of the president.

 

“My hope is that I will have the opportunity to continue to serve, but if not, you can be certain that I will be working as hard as I can for as long as I can to prepare the Department of the Air Force for a conflict that is not inevitable, but may be becoming more likely over time,” he said, repeating a line he has repeatedly voiced since becoming the Department’s highest ranking civilian leader.

Kendall’s remarks came during a keynote at the annual conference sponsored by the Air and Space Forces Association.

 

With that context, Kendall spoke at length on his now familiar priorities and analysis for how the Department is pushing forward to properly position itself to meet modern-day adversaries such as the People’s Republic of China.

“China continues to push boundaries of acceptable behavior with aggressive actions directed toward its neighbors,” he said, again repeating a familiar refrain.

“I have instructed our briefers to stop referring to the Chinese Communist Party and the People’s Liberation Army as a ‘future’, or ‘emerging’, or ‘potential’ threat. … It is a serious threat today,” he said.

 

Kendall focused attention on China’s ambitions and advances.

That effort extends into space where China is boosting its “space order of battle” as well as its “counter air capability,” its prowess in cyber operations and increasing the size of its nuclear forces.

“We can expect all these trends to continue,” he said.

 

Threats remain in the Middle East, he said, as well as from Russia.

Despite being mired in its invasion of Ukraine, Kendall offered a warning and a dose of optimism: “Regardless of when, if, or how this war ends, Russia is likely to remain an acute threat,” he said.

“But while Russia will be weakened from years of war, NATO will be even more resilient.”

 

To show what that means in real life, Kendall noted a recent agreement with Norway “to share the costs of integrating the Norwegian joint strike missile on the F-35.

This will significantly enhance our maritime strike capability and that of our Norwegian, Canadian and Australian allies,” he said, adding, “This is integrated by design in action.”

Kendall spent the balance of his 35-minute speech on the ambitious efforts to dramatically reshape, retool and re-train the Air Force and Space Force to confront and, if necessary, prevail in today’s environment.

 

Most prominently, he spoke about his signature initiatives – the seven Operational Imperatives and Reoptimizing for Great Power Competition.

Together those initiative are among the largest, most comprehensive shifts in a generation for how the services operate, train and posture themselves in defense of the country and its interests.

On all fronts Kendall said progress has been made but much more work lies ahead.

 

On “space order of battle,” one of Kendall’s main focuses, “we have started work on several distributed and resilient constellations to replace our vulnerable existing systems and to acquire new capabilities needed for great power conflict.”

Also in space, “We have received Quick Start authority to field additional low-cost GPS satellites to increase the resilience of the GPS system and have initiated that program.

In the counterspace area, we are making good progress with a range of systems that at this point are still classified.”

There has been progress on updating command and control, battle management systems to meet the need of today’s threats.

“The Air Force and Space Force’s modernized C3BM systems are taking shape, and early components have achieved initial operational capability,” he said. “Maj. Gen. (Luke) Cropsey and his team spearheading this effort have been in place for roughly two years now, and their impact is becoming more visible, for both Air Force and Space Force advanced battle management.”

 

Progress on the next generation long-range bomber, the B-21 Raider, “continues to make good progress in the flight test program.”

Other important, new platforms are also progressing. “The overall family of systems, comprising Collaborative Combat Aircraft, or CCAs, the NGAD platform, and other associated programs, is moving forward aggressively,” he said.

“We are going full speed ahead on the first increment of CCAs.”

 

Kendall conceded that the ambitious NGAD program, which is focusing on designing and building state-of-the-art 6th generation “family of aircraft,” is being reviewed and reconfigured to meet technological and budget constraints.

“If we are ever going to make a change in the NGAD platform’s requirements, now is the time to do so, before the next major contractual commitment of resources and the commitment to proceed to production,” he said.

He also made clear the desire to push forward with the program’s central goal. “One thing I would like to make very clear,” Kendall said.

“We are not walking away from the core United States Air Force function of providing air superiority.”

 

He mentioned continued work and differing levels of success in developing a new generation of tanker, updating base defense to cope with the “full range of threats, cruise, ballistic and hypersonic.”

Similar progress can be measure on the far-reaching effort announced in February to “Reoptimize for Great Power Competition,” which is known by the short-hand, GPC.

“The short version of our progress on the 24 (GPC) decisions that we announced is that all of the actions required are well underway.

A few are slightly late to the original schedule, but overall progress is excellent, and nothing is far enough off track to cause major concern,” Kendall said.

 

Even with the progress, Kendall laid down a blunt and clear warning to anyone thinking of slowing future progress because of “territorial” concerns.

“We don’t have time for petty parochial interests or arguments about turf,” he said.

He also repeated a warning to Congress that he has made often in past years.

“The subject that I worry about the most, the adequacy of our resources,” he said, making that statement amid uncertainty if Congress would be able to agree on a temporary budget to keep the federal government operating beyond the September 30 end of the fiscal year.

 

Kendall praised the White House and Congress for the support to date but was direct about the needs going forward.

“As I look out at our needs going forward, it is clear to me that more resources will be required,” he said.

Despite all the change, challenges and new thinking, Kendall noted that one constant remains.

 

“I would be remiss indeed if I didn’t spend a few minutes talking about our most critical asset, our people. You are simply awesome.

You make me grateful to be part of this team every day,” he said.

“My promise to you is that whatever time I have left in public service, that I will spend it working as hard as I can to get the Department of the Air Force the resources it needs to successfully deter, and if needed achieve victory,” Kendall said.

Iranian ambassador in Beirut is reportedly among massive numbers affected after pocket pagers detonated simultaneously

 

Eight people were killed and 3,000 injured across Lebanon on Tuesday when their pagers exploded, local media have reported. The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has stated that hundreds of its members were affected by the incident, which it is blaming on Israel. West Jerusalem has not commented on the developments.

 

People were allegedly mostly affected in the southern suburbs of the country’s capital, Beirut, an area considered a Hezbollah stronghold, as well as in the east and south of the country. More than 2,800 people were injured in the detonations, which have killed eight, including a child, Al Manar news media outlet reported, citing Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad.

 

Abiad confirmed the numbers of injured across the country. His ministry also put hospitals on alert and told them to be ready to respond to health emergencies, Al Manar said. All health specialists were also requested to “go to their workplaces,” digital media outlet Naharnet reported.
