Biden Admin Used Code Word “Benghazi” to Hide Illegal Covid Loans to Planned Parenthood

Documents newly obtained by the Oversight Project from the Small Business Administration show the Biden-Harris administration labeled communications about Covid-era loans to Planned Parenthood under the code word “Benghazi” in order to thwart Freedom of Information Act requests, Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship Chair Joni Ernst (R-IA) revealed today.

Planned Parenthood – America’s largest abortion business – collected approximately $90 million in forgivable Paycheck Protection Program loans meant to provide emergency relief for small businesses shut down, even though they were ineligible by law. In January 2026 under the leadership of Administrator Kelly Loeffler, the Small Business Administration opened a review of loans forgiven under Biden, requiring Planned Parenthood affiliates to provide documentation or be disqualified.

Planned Parenthood’s most recent annual report shows they ended the lives of more than 434,000 unborn babies in 2023-24, an increase of more than 32,000 from the previous year, while their taxpayer funding hit $832 million or nearly $2.3 million per day.

“Just when we think the Democrats’ extremism can’t get more shocking, we see the lengths they’ll go to in protecting the Big Abortion industry. They knew letting Planned Parenthood help itself to taxpayer-funded Covid loans was illegal – so they tried to cover their tracks using, of all things, the national horror of Benghazi,” said SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “We thank Senator Joni Ernst, SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler, and our allies in Congress for tirelessly pursuing truth, justice and restitution.

“As the clear Big Abortion industry leader, Planned Parenthood continues to break records for the number of unborn children’s lives taken in a single year, while real health care services like cancer screenings plummet. Women looking for help related to their pregnancy at Planned Parenthood are overwhelmingly sold an abortion instead of given prenatal care, miscarriage care, or help making an adoption plan. They have even been exposed by The New York Times for injuring women and providing horrifyingly substandard so-called ‘care’ while funneling tens of millions into political activism and endless lawfare.

“For the first time last year, under the exceptional leadership of House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Congress defunded Big Abortion businesses of over half a billion in Medicaid dollars in the Working Families Tax Cuts. But absent further action, that defunding measure expires this July 4. This is now a basic pro-life policy expectation and the GOP base overwhelmingly supports it. We urge Congress to stand strong and do everything in its power to pass a reconciliation bill that keeps Big Abortion defunded. Taxpayers should never be forced to fund the brutality of abortion.”

Three in four Republican primary voters support defunding Planned Parenthood, a Cygnal poll earlier this year found, and one-third would be less enthusiastic about voting in November and less willing to volunteer if GOP leaders abandon pro-life policies.

Feds, state execute search warrants at Twin Cities daycares and autism centers

The Department of Homeland Security announced Tuesday that it executed search warrants in the Twin Cities as part of an ongoing criminal investigation related to fraud.

The state Department of Children, Youth, and Families confirmed the operation — and said state and county officials were involved.

“Today’s law enforcement actions are a result of state, county and federal agencies working together to root out fraud and hold bad actors accountable,” the state agency said in a statement Tuesday morning.

“We are pleased to see the state’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and our federal partners taking strong action based on information we have shared with them,” the statement continued. “We will continue sharing information with law enforcement to ensure they are able to conduct thorough criminal investigations.”

State and federal agencies have long worked together on criminal investigations — but the apparent cooperation in Tuesday’s operation was notable, given the tensions and conflict between state and federal officials during the federal immigration enforcement surge earlier this year.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz — who is set to give his final State of the State addresson Tuesday night — issued a statement saying that “if you commit fraud in Minnesota you’re going to get caught — and that’s exactly what we saw today.”

“We catch criminals when state and federal agencies share information. Joint investigations work, and securing justice depends on it,” Walz said.

In a statement posted to social mediaon Tuesday morning, DHS said the criminal investigation related to “the rampant fraud of U.S. taxpayers dollars.”

“The American people deserve answers in how their taxpayer money was abused,” DHS said in a social media post.

The agency said it carried out the warrants “in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area” in cooperation with local and state law enforcement agencies. It did not release further details about the location and nature of the search warrants, citingthe safety of law enforcement officers.

MPR News journalists observed federal and state law enforcement officials outside two childcare centers in south Minneapolis.

Sources told KARE 11 that authorities carried out more than 20 search warrants on Tuesday, focused on childcare and daycare providers. Several centers that work with people with autism also were part of the operation.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office said its Medicare Fraud Control Unit participated in serving warrants Tuesday at five sites that serve people younger than 21 who have autism spectrum disorder. Those five sites are located in Mendota Heights, Savage, Fridley and Minneapolis.

Ellison’s office said it was not involved in search warrants at childcare facilities, because those sites do not involve Medicaid.

The city of Minneapolis issued a statementsaying it was not involved in the operation — and that as of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Minneapolis police hadn’t been asked to assist in the execution of the warrants.

“We understand that any federal actions in our neighborhoods may spark fear among residents, and we will continue to marshal city resources to help the community in the aftermath of Operation Metro Surge,” the city statement read.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that it has a task force officer assigned to the FBI’s Evidence Response Team, which was part of the operation. The sheriff’s office also said it had “two marked squad cars on two scenes to secure the perimeter as part of this criminal investigation.

Perimeters help ensure the safety of both the community and the law enforcement officers who are executing the criminal warrants.”

“Our office works with local, state, and federal agencies on criminal investigations,” the sheriff’s office said.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension confirmed that it was partnering with federal investigators to execute search warrants Tuesday, but declined further comment.

All New Vehicles Sold In The U.S. Will Soon Be Equipped With An AI Kill Switch That Will Determine Whether You Are Allowed To Drive Or Not

Imagine that you just received a very alarming phone call and you are in a panic to get home. Unfortunately, since your eyes are wide and full of alarm because of the phone call that you just received, the AI kill switch in your vehicle will not allow you to drive anywhere. This is not a scenario which may or may not happen someday. This is already federal law. Section 24220 of the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that was signed by Joe Biden directed the NHTSA to establish permanent standards for impaired driving safety equipment on all new vehicles within three years. Fortunately, Congress gave the NHTSA some more time in 2024, but now another deadline is looming. If Congress does not act, very soon all new vehicles in the U.S. will come equipped with systems that determine who gets to drive and who does not get to drive.

Automakers are arguing that the technology still isn’t ready because it makes way too many mistakes.

Some drivers just naturally have eye or head movements that make them appear to be impaired in some way.

Of course others are extremely upset about this dystopian law because of how extremely intrusive it is.

Do we really want AI to track our eye and head movements every time we enter our vehicles?

Unfortunately, even though it has been on the books since 2021, most Americans have never even heard about this very alarming law…

The measure, often referred to as the Halt Drunk Driving Act, anticipated that as early as this year, auto companies would be required to roll out technology to “passively” detect when drivers are drunk or impaired and prevent their cars from operating. Regulators can choose from a range of options, including air monitors that sample the car’s interior for traces of alcohol, fingertip readers that measure a driver’s blood-alcohol level, or scanners that detect signs of impairment in eye or head movements.

Once the NHTSA sets the final rules, there is no going back.

At that point, it would take an act of Congress to overturn the law.

Recently, there was an effort to remove funding for the implementation of this measure, but that effort was soundly defeated…

A Republican-led effort to remove the Halt Act’s funding was defeated in the U.S. House last month by a 268-164 vote. Another bill to repeal it entirely awaits a committee vote.

Most of the opposition has stemmed from suggestions that the law would require manufacturers to equip cars with a “kill switch”. That would essentially allow them to “be controlled by the government,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis posted on the social platform X, drawing comparisons to George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984.”

I honestly don’t think that Congress is going to do anything.

So we are going to be stuck with this change.

The goal of the law is to reduce the number of accidents caused by impaired drivers, but they are attempting to do this in the most dystopian way possible…

Tucked into a broader federal safety initiative is a requirement for impaired-driving detection technology in all new vehicles. The goal sounds simple enough: reduce crashes caused by drunk or fatigued drivers. It’s a problem that has been around for decades, and lawmakers are trying to address it with new technology.

To do that, automakers will need to install systems that monitor drivers in real time. These systems rely on cameras and sensors that track things like eye movement, head position, and overall attentiveness. It’s not just observing — it’s constantly analyzing what the driver is doing.

Some of us are easily distracted.

And some of us are often tired because we work all the time.

Does that mean that we are too “impaired” to drive our vehicles?

Under the new rules, AI will get to decide that.

In other words, you may be the one making payments on the vehicle, but a computer will decide whether you get to drive it or not…

If the system detects what it believes is impairment, it doesn’t just issue a warning and move on. In some cases, it could prevent the vehicle from starting or limit how it operates once you’re already driving. That means the car itself becomes the decision-maker, not the person in the driver’s seat.

For many drivers, that raises immediate concerns. It introduces a scenario where a machine decides whether you’re allowed to use something you own, based on its interpretation of your behavior.

I don’t want a computer to be interpreting my behavior every time I get behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Sydney concert to benefit Bondi terror victims canceled after choir opposes singing with Jewish group

Over half of Australian Hellenic Choir votes against joining Sydney Jewish Choral Society on stage; choir head: ‘Didn’t realize the extent of antisemitism in the local Greek community’

A choral concert fundraiser for the victims of the Bondi Beach terror attack at a Jewish event in Sydney has been canceled after local Greek singers opposed singing alongside their Jewish counterparts in the planned joint performance.

The two-hour benefit concert, titled Concert for Hope and Unity, was to feature the Australian Hellenic Choir together with the Sydney Jewish Choral Society in Sydney Town Hall on June 28, The Australian newspaper reported Monday.

However, last Monday, during rehearsals, a vote was taken and over half the Hellenic choir “politically objected” to performing with their Jewish counterparts, according to the report.

Others said they feared a possible attack on the event.

In December, Naveed Akram, 24, opened fire along with his father Sajid on a Hanukkah celebration on Sydney’s ‌Bondi Beach, killing 15 people. Sajid Akram was killed in a confrontation with police during the shooting. Their attack was inspired by the Islamic State terror group, according to police.

The concert was to raise money for the victims.

Jewish Choral Society chairwoman Anne Spira told members in a letter that the Hellenic Choir would not participate, and the concert was canceled.

“The result is, like many other Jews in the arts since 7 October, 2023, we have been canceled,” she told the Australian. “We have been de-platformed and it is deeply upsetting for us and for the broader Jewish community, who have been the target of anti-Jewish racism in this country for two and a half years.”

Spira made a submission on behalf of the choir to the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion, a government-backed inquiry set up to probe antisemitism in the country after the Bondi attack, The Australian reported.

“It’s not hard to imagine how we’re all feeling,”one unnamed choir memberwas cited as saying.

MIDTERM SHOCKER: GOP Tied With Democrats in Latest Stunning House Poll

A stunning new survey from Harvard’s Center For American Political Studies and HarrisX foundthat Republicans and Democrats are tied in the generic congressional ballot roughly six month out from November’s midterm elections.

The poll of 2,745 registered voters was conducted between April 23 and 26 and carried a 1.87% margin of error, and asked the question, “If the congressional election were held today would

you be more likely to vote for a Democrat or a Republican for Congress?”

Fifty percent of those surveyed indicated they’d vote for their local Democrat, while the other 50% said they bled red. Democrats do boast a 52%-48% advantage with independents, however. All in all, 71% of respondents aid they were “definitely” or “probably” going to vote, but Republicans boasted a slight advantage in that regard. Sixty-two percent of Republican respondents indicated they were definitely going to vote, and an additional 18% said they’d probably vote. For Democrats, those figures were 59% and 17%, while for independents, they were 40% and 17%.

Americans are also evenly split (50%-50%) on the question of whether Trump is performing better or worse than his predecessor, former President Joe Biden. His net approval rating presently stands at -9 (42%-53%) but is a few points better with likely midterm voters (46%-51%).

The most pressing issue to the electorate remains inflation/affordability (35% call it one of “the most important issues facing the country today”), followed by economy and jobs (28%), immigration (24%), health care (22%), the U.S.-Iran conflict (20%), and corruption (18%).

Former St. Louis Alderman Sentenced to 16 Months in Prison for Fraud, Lying to the FBI

ST. LOUIS – U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey on Tuesday sentenced former St. Louis Alderman Brandon Bosley to 16 months in prison for insurance fraud and lying to the FBI.

Judge Autrey also ordered Bosley to pay restitution of $6,253.90 to the insurance company that he defrauded.

Bosley, 38, was found guilty by a jury in U.S. District Court in St. Louis in January of three felony wire fraud charges and one count of making a false statement to the FBI. Evidence and testimony at trial showed that after an auto accident, Bosley hatched a scheme to defraud an insurance company by falsely inflating the cost of needed repairs and then lied when FBI agents asked him about it.

In September of 2021, Bosley’s 2010 Toyota Prius, which was parked, was hit by another vehicle. The drivers’ insurance company contacted Bosley in February of 2022 and told him that they would pay for the damage. Bosley then asked the auto repair shop owner who had sold him the used Prius for the deeply discounted price of $500 to prepare and submit an inflated repair estimate in exchange for a bribe, evidence and testimony showed. “Mark that (expletive) all the way up,” Bosley told the business owner during the conversation, which was captured on audio and video. Bosley also had discussions with the business owner about buying the car back if it was totaled and then paying the estimated repair costs of $2,000 to $2,200, thus retaining the car while fraudulently netting thousands of dollars, evidence and testimony showed.

After the insurance company balked at a $6,800 repair estimate, Bosley caused a second estimate of $4,333 to be submitted, the trial showed. The insurance company ultimately totaled the car and paid Bosley $7,978.90. At the time, he had $14.93 in his bank account. He lived off the insurance proceeds for about six weeks.

When FBI agents interviewed Bosley in the presence of his lawyer in March of 2023, Bosley repeatedly lied, jurors found during the trial. He falsely stated to agents that he never saw the two fraudulent repair bills that were prepared. He falsely claimed the repair estimates were not inflated and denied asking the business owner to inflate the repair estimates.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Hal Goldsmith wrote in a sentencing memo that “this criminal scheme was instigated, planned, designed, and carried out by Defendant once he was advised by the insurance carrier that there was money to be had for repairs to the damaged Prius automobile. From his very first conversation with the auto repair shop owner, without any idea of the extent of the necessary repairs, Defendant indicated that he wanted the Prius considered a total loss.” Bosley “used his position as an elected official in discussions with representatives of the insurance company, presumably to influence their decision on his claim,” the memo says. During the sentencing hearing, in requesting a sentence of imprisonment, Goldsmith advised the Court that, “the public is frustrated and fed up with these ticky-tacky fraud and bribery schemes committed by their elected officials,” “the public deserves some sense of justice here, and only a fair and just punishment will achieve that.”

The government’s sentencing memo also cites Missouri Ethics Commission findings from December that concluded that Bosley failed to report hundreds of improper expenditures for personal expenses, including gas, groceries and meals, made from two separate campaign accounts, at the time he was engaged in this insurance fraud. In recordings made by the business owner, Bosley also showed himself to be a racist and an antisemite, the memo adds.

Homeland Security Task Force Investigation Results in 51-Defendant Indictment in Nationwide Black-Market Marijuana Trafficking Conspiracy

OKLAHOMA CITY – A federal indictment has been unsealed, charging 51 defendants across 67 counts for their roles in a conspiracy to manufacture black-market marijuana in Oklahoma and then distribute it throughout the United States, including Texas, Mississippi, Kansas, and North Carolina, announced U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

In a coordinated takedown late last week, more than 100 law enforcement personnel executed arrest warrants involving 51 defendants from Oklahoma, Texas, New York, North Carolina, Florida, Michigan, Kansas, Mississippi, and California. Of the indicted targets, 28 have been arrested and 23 remain fugitives. The Sudan Doctors Network says drone shelling hit Zalingei in Central Darfur State, killing five civilians and injuring 12, including women.

The group reports patients were moved to medical facilities as health and humanitarian conditions deteriorate.

Five civilians were killed and 12 others, including women, were injured following shelling on the city of Zalingei in Central Darfur State by a drone.

The Sudan Doctors Network on Tuesday said the wounded were transferred to medical facilities for treatment, amid deteriorating medical and humanitarian conditions and a severe shortage of resources.

The Network called for an immediate halt to all forms of targeting of civilians by the parties to the conflict, stressing that targeting civilians and the use of civilian sites as military barracks exacerbate their suffering.

It also appealed to the international community and humanitarian organisations to urgently intervene to protect civilians and support the health sector, which it said is facing rapid collapse amid ongoing military operations.

The incident came days after seven other people were killed and 22 were injured following an alleged Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attack on El-Obeid in North Kordofan on Saturday.

The Network said the attack involved suicide drones targeting residential neighbourhoods within the city.

“The network condemns the deliberate targeting by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of civilian and densely populated neighbourhoods, stressing that the objective is not military but rather to inflict the highest possible number of civilian casualties.”

“This constitutes a grave violation of all humanitarian and international laws and norms. The targeting of residential areas with drones reflects a clear disregard for civilian lives, especially amid the deteriorating humanitarian and health conditions in the country,” the doctors said, adding that they have appealed to the relevant authorities to support health institutions in El-Obeid with medical supplies and personnel to help manage the growing number of injured and prevent further deterioration of the health situation.

Fort Polk Soldier Charged for Threatening to “Walk Into a Synagogue With My AK” and “Kill Every Single Jew” Inside

LAFAYETTE– On April 23, 2026, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana charged Jakob Marcoulier, a 22-year-old soldier stationed at Fort Polk, by criminal complaint with transmitting a threat in interstate commerce after he told people on the platform Discord that he would kill Jewish people in a synagogue. FBI secured recorded audio from Discord in which the individual, later determined to be Marcoulier, made these threats, stating among other things that “after this deployment if the Jews still have reign over our government, I am going to walk into a synagogue with my AK, with a 75-round drum mag, and all of my extra mags, with my level four plates, and my haka helmet that’s three plus, and I am going to kill every single Jew I know inside of that synagogue. And that’s my goal in life.” Marcoulier went on to emphasize the seriousness of his threats, saying among other things that “you guys will never do anything about but I will. I just have to finish this, I have to go back overseas and do what I have to do. And then you'll see me in the news. I promise you,” and that “you guys don’t want to do anything for the f[]ing cause when it actually needs to happen … I’ll still kill these mother[]ers in order to make sure the white youth is f[***]ing secured.” Marcoulier was arrested on April 23.

U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller for the Western District of Louisiana made the announcement.

He spoke about the increased terrorist threat Russia has been facing during a meeting on Tuesday dedicated to the security of the elections set to take place this fall. The threat stems from the activities of international terrorist and extremist groups, as well as from Ukraine, Putin said.

“The Kiev regime and its backers have switched to openly terrorist methods,” the president stated.

The terror tactics are meant to compensate for the setbacks Ukraine has been suffering on the battlefield, Putin noted,adding that such actions will not alter the course of the conflict between Moscow and Kiev.

He cited attacks on the oil refinery in the Black Sea port of Tuapse, which sparked a multi-day fire, warning of the growing threat posed by Ukrainian long-range strikes against Russia’s civilian infrastructure.

“The latest example is the strikes on energy infrastructure sites in Tuapse, which could potentially have serious environmental implications,” the president said.

Kiev is determined to try to jeopardize the upcoming elections in the formerly Ukrainian regions that integrated into Russia, Putin said, pointing to similar attempts previously.

“I’d like to remind you that they are not holding elections in Ukraine under the pretext of martial law, and they are trying to disrupt ours too,”he said.

(NewsNation) — The second man to receive a Neuralink implant tells NewsNation his life has been changed immeasurably.

Alex Conley spoke exclusively with “Katie Pavlich Tonight” on Monday about how he can build things with a robotic hand and fly drones with his mind following the implantation of a brain chip.

Before Neuralink’s assistance, Conley suffered a spinal cord injury during a car rollover in 2021, leaving him paralyzed and in a wheelchair.

Conley has since regained his independence, with Neuralink allowing him to send direct signals to machinery, such as a drone or robotic arm.

“It’s kind of like going from not being able to do anything and confined to my chair and confined to a room. If a door is closed, I have no way to open it or get outside without aid from a caregiver or a family member,” Conley said of the arm.

“With that arm, it would allow me to actually open a door on my own and get outside without the help,” he added.

Before his accident, Conley loved using his hands as a welder, fabricator and mechanic, and thanks to Neuralink and computer-aided design software, he is back building again.

Using those systems, he built a holder for the Neuralink charger.

“The Neuralink engineers sent it to a guy in Phoenix, and he printed me my first part, and I had it the next day,” Conley said.

A big goal for Conley would be to build a part for Musk’s spaceship.

“But I don’t know if I’m quite qualified for that,” he said.

According to its website, Neuralink‘s brain-computer interface turns neural signals into actions, allowing computers and robotic arms to be controlled by thoughts, subsequently allowing “autonomy to those with unmet medical needs and unlock new dimensions of human potential.”

“I feel very honored that they decided to go with me” as the second implant recipient, Conley said.

A glamorous, Italian-inspired lounge in a grungy Melbourne laneway frequented by celebrities including Drake and Gordon Ramsay.

These three iconic establishments in the heart of Melbourne are part of what makes the city so special.

But all three — France-Soir, SoHo and Bar Bambi — have been circled on a map by criminals wreaking havoc on the city in a way that we have never seen before.

In the early hours of the morning, when the city and its suburbs are still dark, individuals as young as 15 are carrying out their end of a deal with organised crime groups to set fire to venues previously never targeted.

Youths carrying machetes, jerry cans and phones to film their work take just seconds to carry out a firebombing — pour accelerant in, strike a match and run.

Unlike the tobacco wars that have become so familiar to Melburnians, the targeting of long-established venues is “puzzling” authorities and owners who say they have not been threatened or warned.

In April alone, the attacks are a near-nightly occurrence. Not all venues are refined eateries — both the Men’s Gallery and Kittens Strip Club have been hit on April 14 and 16, respectively.

But all venues have one thing in common — the sale of liquor.

As the map above shows, there is no other pattern to the offending.

On April 15, the night after the Men’s Gallery was targeted, The Albion Hotel in South Melbourne saw three separate fires lit around 3am.

A night later, about 4am, the thriving Emerson nightclub in South Yarra was set alight.

SoHo, on Southbank, was bombed by two teens, including one seen running from the venue as flames poured out. He was carrying a machete.

Bar Bambi, in ACDC Lane, a venue hugely popular with sportspeople and local celebrities — and which Drake hired out last year when he visited Melbourne — was targeted.

It would be set alight a week later.

On April 23, France-Soir — a sophisticated French bistro on Toorak Road in South Yarra — was the target of a suspected arson attempt foiled by passers-by who noticed a pair of individuals loitering with a jerry can.

A distillery, 80 Proof in Keysborough, erupted in flames about 10.30pm on April 24.

And on April 26, footage emerged of the moment arsonists jumped from a vehicle and set Bar Up alight. The popular Chapel Street venue was engulfed in flames around 5am and completely destroyed.

Scientist warns newest WHO agreement will lead to repeated lockdowns: Australia to sign in May

A former lead scientist at the World Health Organization has warned that a new WHO agreement on how countries respond to pandemics will lead to repeated lock down-style restrictions.

His warning comes as the WHO prepares for talks in Geneva on Monday to finalize a sweeping pandemic treaty that aims to cover surveillance systems, pathogen sharing and rapid vaccine rollout targets.

Dr David Bell, a former WHO scientific officer and lead author of a new report, said the system could steer the UK and other countries back toward Covid-era measures. These include school and business closures, mask mandates, quarantines and large-scale vaccination campaigns—steps that were not part of standard pandemic planning before 2020.

MSN reports: He said: “It is inevitable that we will end up in repeated lockdowns because of how the system is set up.”

Dr Bell warned that the increased WHO funding, which is specifically earmarked for expanded pandemic threat surveillance and rapid-response triggers could escalate potential threats more quickly into full-scale interventions.

The UK is one of the largest contributors to the WHO, committing hundreds of millions through direct funding and international partnerships. The authors of the report say that means British taxpayers are helping fund a pandemic response they may later be subjected to again.

They are calling for the WHO completely overhauled or “replaced by an organisation better able to serve country needs.”.

Their new report – by the International Health Reform Project – calls for reform of the WHO, arguing it is too heavily tied to pandemic threat response programmes such as vaccines and diagnostics, shaped by a relatively small group of powerful public, private and public-private funders.

The report highlights how large-scale contributions to the WHO are frequently channelled into targeted initiatives – particularly vaccines, diagnostics and surveillance systems – with a significant proportion of funding earmarked for specific objectives rather than broader health needs which could save more lives.

Critics say this concentration of funding risks aligning global health priorities with the interests and models of its major funding partners, rather than broader health outcomes – and could also mean threats are identified and acted on more quickly through expanded surveillance systems.

Dr Bell, former director of the Bill Gates funded development laboratory- the Global Good Fund, said: “The British taxpayer is funding a system that is looking for theoretical threats that will then be used to justify locking them down and making them pay for vaccines.”

He added: “It would be better that they put more money into the NHS.”

Co-author Professor Garrett Wallace Brown, a current WHO advisor and global public health expert at Leeds University, said funding flows are shaping global health priorities.

He said: “These large sums of money from private organisations and from government organisations have skewed the agenda.”

He added: “If you’re pumping in the largest donations to technical solutions, surveillance and vaccines it is inevitable you will have little choice but to do what is specified for it. It’s basic economics.”

They say this creates a system where what gets funded – and what produces measurable results – increasingly drives decision-making, rather than what delivers the greatest overall health impact.

From the skies over Ukraine to the southern U.S. border, drones are transforming the nature of global conflict and domestic security. Unauthorized unmanned aerial systems, and efforts to detect, track, identify and mitigate them, shape homeland security operations daily.

Drone-delivered kinetic attacks perfected in war zones are increasingly used to threaten critical infrastructure and mass gatherings at special events. At U.S. borders, transnational criminal organizations use UAS to transport illegal items and monitor law enforcement activities.

During the last six months of 2024, more than 27,000 drones were detected within 500 meters of the U.S. southern border, as reported in a recent Senate hearing on law enforcement, drone use and public safety.

Further, interference from UAS operations – both intentional and unintentional – impacts safety and efficiency at airports.

A strategic alliance with national impact

A new partnership aims to ensure America is leading in UAS/counter-UAS capabilities even as the technology and corresponding threats rapidly evolve.

In November, West Virginia University, Summit Point Training Facility and the Idaho National Laboratory signed a memorandum of understanding to create a collaborative framework uniting academia, national laboratory expertise and industry.

This partnership will establish a hub to develop, test and train UAS and counter-UAS technologies for national security.

The new collaboration will drive solutions focused on:

Oversight and rigor: INL’s National and Homeland Security Testing Facilities, managed by Battelle Energy Alliance, support a wide variety of research, analysis, testing and validation opportunities for defense, federal and industrial collaborators.

Renowned Russian archaeologist Aleksandr Butyagin, who was detained in Poland at Ukraine’s request, has been released as part of a five-for-five prisoner exchange which involved multiple countries. The negotiations are understood to have been conducted in absolute secrecy, resulting in the release of another Russian national and three Belarusian citizens.

Butyagin was apprehended by the Polish authoritieslast December while on a European lecture tour. Kiev demanded his extradition,accusing the senior researcher at St. Petersburg’s State Hermitage Museum of conducting illegal excavations and damaging cultural heritage in Crimea, Russia – which Ukraine claims as its own territory.

In a statement on Tuesday, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB)said Butyagin was freed earlier in the day, and that Moscow released two officers of Moldova’s Security and Intelligence Service, who were arrested by the Russian authorities last June.

According to BELTA media outlet, citing Belarus’ State Security Committee (KGB),the prisoner swap took place on the Belarus-Polish border, and was made possible thanks to talks that started in September 2025.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko personally oversaw the process, in whichthe intelligence services of seven countries were involved, the article claims.

Warsaw released three Belarusians who had been “carrying out highly important tasks in the interest of [Belarusian] national security and defense,” according to the outlet. Minsk released Andrzej Poczobut, an opposition activist of Polish descent.

The identities of the other prisoners who were freed have not been disclosed.

Speaking at a joint press conference with John Coal, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Belarus, Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said the prisoner swap, which led to the release of three Polish nationals,would not have happened without Washington’s assistance. He revealed that Warsaw released three people,including the Russian archaeologist.

According to Sikorski, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, and Poland were involved in the process,which was undertaken in absolute secrecy.

A Cessna aircraft crashed Monday in South Sudan's killing all 13 passengers and the pilot, the civil aviation authority said. The plane crashed and burst into flames in poor weather on the outskirts of South Sudan’s capital, Juba.

Preliminary reports indicate that the plane arriving from Yei town may have crashed due to weather conditions that caused poor visibility. The civil aviation authority said the dead included two Kenyans, and the rest were South Sudanese.

The authority said a team was dispatched to the site about 12 miles outside Juba. The Cessna 208 Caravan, which was operated by CityLink Aviation, ‌lost communication while flying from Yei to Juba International Airport.

Air traffic control is understood to have lost contact with the plane after 30 minutes into the journey which would have been a distance of around 80 miles. Videos of the crash site shared on social media showed remains of the aircraft in flames.

The aviation authority also said a team has been sent to the site to gather information and support emergency services.

As reported by the BBC, more than 55 planes crashed in the country, resulting in dozens of fatalities, in the decade following independence in 2011.

In January 2025, 20 oil workers died after their aircraft, which was headed for Juba, came down three minutes after take-off near the oil fields of Unity state in the north.

The worst plane crash occurred in November 2015, when an Antonov plane crashed near Juba airport, killing 41 people, the BBC also wrote.

Man, 89, arrested after ‘four people shot and wounded’ in Greek capital

Police in Greece on Tuesday arrested an 89-year-old man who allegedly opened fire with a shotgun in a social security office and a court building in central Athens, wounding at least four people.

Law enforcement authorities said the man was arrested near the city of Patra, some 130 miles west of the Greek capital.

The gunman initially opened fire at the social security office, wounding an employee, police said. Officers who arrived at the scene treated the man, but the gunman fled.

Media aired security camera footage that it said was from a shop near the social security office, which showed a man walking calmly across the street carrying what appears to be a short-barrelled shotgun in his right hand.

The same man was suspected of later opening fire on the ground floor of a court building in another part of central Athens, with several people wounded there, police said, adding that authorities had found the shotgun.

Television footage showed ambulance crews taking at least three people from the court to waiting ambulances.

The head of the Athens Judicial Employees Union, Stratis Dounias, said that initial information indicated that the man had shot at the floor inside one of the offices in the court building.

At least three female court employees were slightly wounded by ricocheting shotgun pellets, while media reports said that a fourth female employee was taken to hospital without physical injuries.

The motive for the shooting was unclear. State broadcaster ERT said that the gunman had reportedly left envelopes with documents after the shooting at the court, saying those were the reasons for his actions.

Alexandros Varveris, head of the National Social Security Fund known by its Greek acronym EFKA, said the gunman had gone to the fourth floor of the social security fund’s offices in the Kerameikos area of central Athens and opened fire after calling out to an employee to duck.

His shot hit another employee, who was wounded in the leg, Mr Varveris said, adding that the gunman had been wearing a trench coat under which he had hidden the shotgun.

“He went in, went up to the fourth floor, raised his shotgun, told an employee to duck, and hit another one,” Mr Varveris told ERT radio. He said the gunman did not appear to specifically target the employee he hit.

The wounded employee was taken to hospital after police applied a tourniquet to his leg at the scene.

Gun violence is relatively rare in Greece, where firearm ownership is allowed but tightly regulated.

Russia expands sanctions on EU officials over arming Ukraine

Moscow says no outside pressure can sway its foreign policy

Moscow has expanded the sanctions on European officials involved in arming Ukraine, after the EU adopted its 20th package of sanctions on Russia.

In a statement on Monday, the Russian ForeignMinistry said the restrictions rolled out last week by Brussels “grossly violate international law.”

“In response to the EU’s unlawful decisions, the Russian side has significantly expanded the list of representatives of EU institutions, EU member states, and anumber of European countries aligning themselves with Brussels’ anti-Russian policy,” the ministry said.

Without revealing any names or nationalities, the ministry saidthe blacklist includes officials involved in decision-making on military aid to Ukraine, the introduction of sanctions on Russia,the prosecution of Russian nationals “under far-fetched pretexts,” and. “causing damage to Russia’s relations with third countries.” The ministry added that it is also targeting “hostile” activists and academics.

“Brussels’ destructive policy is incapable of swaying our country’s foreign policy. Russia has been and remains committed to defending its national interests,” the ministry said.

On Thursday, the EU announcedadditional restrictions on Russia’s financial sector and energy exports, targeting the supposed ‘shadow fleet’ used to bypass sanctions on Russia’s oil trade.

Russia has denied that it has a shadow fleet and has denounced the seizure of tankers by the US and European states as acts of piracy.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters last week that althoughthe sanctions have had an overall “negative impact” on the Russian economy, thecountry has “gained significant experience in minimizing their effects.”
