NASA Says Something is “Brewing” in Ocean Waters Off the East Coast—And Recent Satellite Images Prove It

Something is invading the ocean waters off the northeastern U.S. coast, as revealed in recent satellite imagery.

For several weeks now, eerie green plumes have been swirling in the shallow waters of the Mid-Atlantic Bight, the region that spans the coastlines from Massachusetts to North Carolina.

Beginning in April, blue-green swirling patterns have appeared in NASA satellite imagery, resembling colored smoke billowing into the waters of Delaware Bay, Chesapeake Bay, and other shallow areas along the northeastern coast.

Such regions are known for their discoloration, which scientists specializing in remote sensing describe as “noisy” environments, due to sediments and other materials that flow from inland, carried by rivers that empty into the ocean and deposit microscopic particles.

 

According to NASA, the blending of organic matter into ocean water, driven by warmer weather, can help feed periodic blooms of phytoplankton, which create the stunning swirls of deep green and blue seen in satellite images of Earth.

“This mix creates optical complexity that has long made it harder for scientists to distinguish and categorize phytoplankton blooms in shallow coastal zones compared to the deeper, darker, more uniform waters of the open ocean,” said Adam Voiland in a recent update for NASA’s Earth Observatory.

 

For the last two years, the American space agency has been managing several missions to help it better characterize such conditions, including the Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, Ocean Ecosystem (PACE).

Initiated in 2024, PACE collects information on the chemistry and ecology of our oceans using satellite imagery that observes ocean color worldwide.

The information PACE satellites gather can provide crucial insights into our planet’s carbon cycle and a range of other factors that often influence the size and duration of phytoplankton blooms.

The “optical complexity” Voiland describes is a particular challenge for scientists observing these phenomena in coastal regions such as the Mid-Atlantic Bight.

Fortunately, NASA’s PACE mission data is complemented by data from other satellite missions, such as Aqua and Terra, all of which have contributed to the iridescent phytoplankton blooms that began appearing in early April.

Specifically, scientists point to diatoms, a variety of phytoplankton that undergo sudden surges in growth in the spring, as river runoff, often driven by meltwater that is carried downstream from higher elevations, is combined with increased seasonal daylight and a range of other environmental factors.

 

“Diatoms typically dominate blooms early in the spring, but we are seeing some signs of coccolithophores mixed in as well,” according to Anna Windle, a research scientist currently at Goddard Space Flight Center.

Windle says that, based on data collected by PACE, some of the recent greens and blues have now been confirmed as the result of phytoplankton blooms, as shown in chlorophyll mapping of PACE satellite data.

While sometimes appearing brown or even indiscernible from sea level, diatoms in ocean water this time of year often appear in vibrant hues of green and blue in satellite imagery.

 

Certain varieties of phytoplankton blooms, such as those involving coccolithophores, are more likely to produce the turquoise coloration seen in imagery collected in recent weeks.

These microscopic plant-like organisms inhabit the uppermost ocean layers and possess thick, scaly exteriors that are highly reflective, resulting in an iridescent greenish coloration often visible even at sea level.

Coccolithophores also play a significant role in the biogeochemical cycles in our seas, and scientists attribute as much as half of the calcium carbonate precipitation in our oceans to these organisms.

 

Over the next few weeks, the waters off the eastern seaboard will likely resume their normal coloration, unless these microscopic organisms are nourished by additional influxes of nutrients resulting from storms or other environmental events, which periodically carry organic materials into the “noisy” northeastern ocean waters.

But the newest wave of UAP disclosures emerging from military, intelligence, and defense archives is now forcing many Americans to ask a difficult question:

Did NASA’s public messaging fully reflect the seriousness with which portions of the U.S. government were actually treating the UFO phenomenon behind closed doors?

That question is becoming impossible to ignore as the Trump administration’s Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters — known as PURSUE — continues releasing previously hidden files involving unidentified anomalous phenomena, military encounters, radar tracking incidents, astronaut observations, and classified investigations spanning decades.

 

NASA itself still maintains there is no confirmed evidence proving extraterrestrial visitation or alien technology. Officially, that position has not changed. But what has changed dramatically is the surrounding context.

The newly released files reveal that numerous U.S. government agencies quietly treated portions of the phenomenon as serious enough to warrant classified investigations, intelligence monitoring, aerospace analysis, and national-security scrutiny for decades.

That reality stands in stark contrast to the dismissive public tone many Americans grew up hearing regarding UFO reports.

 

Historically, the public was often led to believe UFO sightings largely stemmed from weather balloons, optical illusions, atmospheric distortions, camera artifacts, misidentifications, or overactive imaginations.

SpaceX will launch a batch of spy satellites for the U.S. government this evening (May 11), and you can watch the action live.

 

A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to lift off from California's Vandenberg Space Force Base today, on a mission for the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) called NROL-172.

 

Launch will occur during a four-hour window that opens at 6:28 p.m. EDT (2228 GMT; 3:28 p.m. local California time). SpaceX will stream the event live via its website and X account, beginning about 10 minutes before liftoff.

 

NROL-172 will be the 13th launch devoted to building out a new reconnaissance network that the NRO, which operates the United States' fleet of spy satellites, calls its "proliferated architecture."

 

"To stay ahead of the competition and ensure it can continue to operate in a heightened threat environment, the NRO is modernizing its architecture in space and on the ground — delivering more capability faster with increased resilience," agency officials wrote in the NROL-172 press kit.

 

"A greater number of satellites — large and small, government and commercial, in multiple orbits — will deliver an order of magnitude more signals and images than is available today," they added.

 

The satellites for the new network are built by SpaceX and Northrop Grumman. We don't know exactly what they do, where they orbit or how many of them go up on each launch; the NRO has not released such information.

 

All of the proliferated architecture satellites have reached orbit atop Falcon 9 rockets flying out of Vandenberg, which sits on California's scenic but often foggy central coast. The first such launch, NROL-146, lifted off in May 2024. The most recent, NROL-105, took place this past January.

 

If all goes according to plan this evening, the Falcon 9's first stage will return to Earth 8.5 minutes after liftoff, touching down in the Pacific Ocean on the SpaceX drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You."

 

It will be the second launch and landing for this particular booster, according to a SpaceX mission description. SpaceX's livestream will end shortly thereafter, at the request of the NRO.

 

NROL-172 will be the 55th Falcon 9 launch of the year. The vast majority of the rocket's liftoffs so far in 2026 — 44 of 54 — have been dedicated to building out Starlink, SpaceX's broadband megaconstellation in low Earth orbit.

China launches Tianzhou-10—its largest resupply mission to the Tiangong space station

Fresh off the heels of the successful Tianzhou-9 mission, China launched the Tianzhou-10 cargo spacecraft from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site on May 11, 2026, to deliver a brand new spacesuit, among other things, to the Tiangong space station.

The new spacesuit is expected to expand the scope of operations of the Taikonauts living aboard the Chinese orbiting laboratory. Combined with the remaining supplies and hardware, the contents of the cargo craft constitute the largest payload of all resupply missions since the station’s construction began, according to Yu Lei, the chief designer of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

 

The brand new spacesuit is called Feitian. While the previous iteration of the suit had a lifespan stretching 15 spacewalks over three years, Feitian is expected to last 20 spacewalks over the span of four years.

The new spacesuit features airtight elbow and knee bearings for a wider range of movement. It also houses an improved life-support system with enhanced thermal comfort and a refined human-machine interface.

 

The Tianzhou-10 cargo payload weighs 6.3 tons in total, about 700 kilograms of which is a fresh batch of propellants for the space station.

Zheng Zehao, a researcher from the China Astronaut Research and Training Center, told the local outlet CCTV that the main structure of a new treadmill for exercising inside the station is also being delivered for in-orbit tests.

The Chinese space program has been known to make life for its Taikonauts as Earth-like as possible, and so part of the Tianzhou-10 cargo has fresh produce like apples, cherry tomatoes, green grapes, and flat peaches.

Zehao also mentioned that the spacecraft is carrying frozen steaks and chicken wings, which will further diversify the dining experience aboard the space station.

 

Similar to the Progress missions launched by Russia and NASA Commercial Resupply Services missions by US companies Northrop Grumman and SpaceX to the International Space Station, Tianzhou spacecraft are meant for shuttling a whole host of science equipment, spare parts, and consumables for the crew.

This was the fifth resupply to the relatively new space station. At the moment, the Tiangong space station is inhabited by the crew of Shenzhou-21, who are currently serving a month-long extension to their mission to test the resilience of the systems and humans on board the outpost.

The Iranian government has infiltrated the Biden administration and obtained access to sensitive U.S. government information, according to a coalition of Republican lawmakers who are investigating the matter.

 

Iran has repeatedly demonstrated in the past several months that it has access "to restricted U.S. State Department emails or government servers," according to a letter sent Wednesday to the White House by congressional Republicans and obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

 

The series of leaks, which have appeared in Iranian state-controlled propaganda outlets, "constitute a significant security breach of U.S. government property by a foreign adversary" and could indicate there is a mole inside the Biden administration, according to Reps. Kevin Hern (R., Okla.) and Joe Wilson (R., S.C.) and Sen. Bill Hagerty (R., Tenn.). The probe is being handled by the Republican Study Committee, Congress's largest Republican caucus, and could force the Biden administration into admitting Iran has breached sensitive U.S. networks.

 

The investigation comes on the heels of a bombshell report Tuesday by Semafor detailing a vast propaganda network linked to the hardline regime in Tehran. That network, known as the Iran Experts Initiative, allegedly includes senior Pentagon official Ariane Tabatabai, as well as other "influential overseas academics" who reported to Iran's foreign ministry and helped push Tehran's talking points with American policymakers. Several of those identified as members of the Iranian government-run network include former aides to U.S. Iran envoy Robert Malley, who was suspended from his post earlier this year for allegedly mishandling classified information.

 

In August, when news of Malley's suspension was just becoming public, the Tehran Times, a regime-controlled outlet, published reports containing what appeared to be sensitive U.S. government documents, including a "sensitive but unclassified" internal State Department letter that purportedly outlines why Malley's security clearance was revoked. Just a month later, the publication published audio of National Security Council coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk discussing in a private meeting what the lawmakers' letter described as "national security options towards Iran."

Members of Congress, they say, "have obtained more information from the pages of the Tehran Times than from U.S. government briefings."

 

"It is shocking that the Tehran Times, a propaganda arm of Iran's terror-sponsoring regime, somehow obtained sensitive internal State Department documents about the suspension of Special Envoy Rob Malley's security clearance," Hagerty told the Free Beacon. "The Biden administration must explain how this happened, especially after recent news reports about how current administration officials and those close to them were directly involved in the so-called Iran Experts Initiative, an Iranian regime-run foreign influence network that operated in the United States and around the world."

 

Hagerty and his RSC colleagues are asking the White House to verify if the repeated leaks are authentic and "describe the steps your administration is taking to prevent further leaks of information to the Iranian regime."

 

The administration must also explain if Malley had access to any of the sensitive documents and information that made their way into the Tehran Times, a revelation that could provide some clarity about why the diplomat was suspended from his job.

 

The lawmakers also want to know if a cadre of non-governmental Iran analysts associated with Malley were "involved in chain of custody of the U.S. documents that were ultimately published" by the Iranian outlet.

 

"It’s deeply concerning that the terrorist regime in Iran may know more about Rob Malley’s clearance issues than Congress," said Rep. Joe Wilson (R., S.C.). "It is imperative that the administration explain to Congress what’s going on especially in light of the reports yesterday regarding Iran’s cozy relationship with a number of Biden administration officials."

 

Those analysts include Trita Parsi, a Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft official who has been accused of lobbying for Iran's regime; Ali Vaez, whom Semafor named as a member of the secret pro-Iran network; and Vali Nasr, an Iranian-American academic who has pushed for increased diplomacy with Tehran.

 

"We expect the administration to come clean and explain to Congress the extent of Iran's espionage efforts," Hern, the chairman of the RSC, told the Free Beacon. "The American people deserve answers."

 

In addition to RSC's latest probe into the leaks, Republicans on the House Armed Services Committee are asking for a security review of Pentagon official Tabatabai, with several calling for her top-secret clearance to be revoked. Tabatabai "on at least two occasions checked in with Iran's Foreign Ministry before attending policy events," according to the Semafor report.

### The "Iran Experts Initiative" (IEI)

Iran (a country that often doesn't like the U.S.) wanted to make America nicer toward them, especially about their nuclear program and other rules. They secretly talked to some Iranian-American experts living in the U.S. (smart people who study Iran and write articles/opinions).

### Robert Malley's Role

Robert Malley was a top U.S. expert on Iran. He worked on the 2015 nuclear deal under Obama, then became Biden's special envoy for Iran (like the main guy talking to/dealing with Iran).

 

Reports say Malley:

  • Knew some of these experts.

  • Helped them get jobs, money, or important spots (including at the State Department and even the Pentagon).

### What Happened in the Biden Administration

In 2023, Malley's security clearance (permission to see secret government info) was suspended. He was put on leave. Reasons:

The FBI is still investigating if he broke laws. There are also claims the State Department didn't handle his suspension perfectly (they let him join a classified call even after it started).

 

Leaked Iranian emails (reported by places like Semafor and Iran International) showed this influence network. Republicans called it a "spy ring" or influence operation run with Malley's help. Others say it was just normal expert networking and the stories are exaggerated or a smear.

How Iran Gained Influence In US Policy Centers

Three Iran experts who have worked closely with Robert Malley, the Biden administration’s special envoy on Iran, were members of an influence network formed and guided by Tehran, an investigation by Iran International shows.

 

The investigation was based on thousands of emails between Iranian diplomats and analysts obtained by Iran International, which shared them with Semafor. The two organizations jointly reported parts of this story together, and wrote and published their stories independently.

 

Malley has spent the past decade in and out of government, at times occupying crucial diplomatic posts. In between those stints, he has held a perch at the International Crisis Group, a major think tank. Of the three Iran experts, one of them worked for him at the State Department, one worked for him at the ICG and was an unofficial adviser when Malley was in government, and one worked for him only at the ICG.

 

Malley was put on leave in June, following the suspension of his security clearance amid an ongoing investigation. The exact cause of his suspension remains unclear.

 

This investigation offers new insights into internal operations of Iran's foreign ministry, especially during 2015 nuclear negotiations with world powers, and highlights the extent of Tehran’s campaign to gain influence in Washington and other Western capitals.

 

Documents reviewed by Iran International show the Iranian foreign ministry in 2014 initiated a network of overseas academics and researchers - called the Iran Experts Initiative (IEI) - to increase its influence on the global stage.

 

This is the first time the role of the IEI - which is also referred to as "the youth network" by Iranian diplomats - has been revealed.

 

President Bident named Malley to be his special envoy for Iran in 2021. Malley had previously served as a top diplomat in the President Obama administration. He helped to negotiate a 2015 landmark nuclear deal with Iran, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA. The accord, which aimed to curb Iran's nuclear activities, was abandoned by President Trump, who branded it as the worst deal ever and reinstated crippling sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

 

In February 2021, less than a month after his appointment as the Iran special envoy, Malley recruited Ariane Tabatabai, then the Middle East fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, for his State Department team to assist in negotiations with Iran. She served in that position for almost 15 months.

 

Malley also sought to appoint Ali Vaez, the Iran Project Director at the Crisis Group, to the government, but Vaez encountered an obstacle. According to two sources familiar with the situation and a former colleague - all of whom requested anonymity - Vaez could not obtain the necessary security clearance, leading to the cancellation of his expected appointment.

 

Despite this, Malley was undeterred, maintaining Vaez as a confidant. Until recently, according to two people familiar with the situation, Vaez drafted Malley’s tweets.

Although Malley viewed Tabatabai and Vaez as his trusted advisers, the investigation shows that the two analysts had undisclosed affiliations with the IEI.

 

Another Iran analyst, Dina Esfandiary, who was hired by Malley at the ICG in early 2021, was also a part of the IEI, according to the documents.

 

US State Department spokesman Matt Miller told Iran International that the Biden administration appointed Ariane Tabatabai to serve various roles in the United States government “because of her expertise on nuclear and other foreign policy issues”, and they were “honored to have her serve.”

 

Miller also said that they will not comment on “purported leaked Iranian government documents.”

 

Vaez’s and Esfandiary’s current employer, the ICG, said the Iranian government did not direct the research of their staff.

 

Malley did not respond to the request for comment. Another State Department spokesperson said “Rob Malley remains on leave. We have nothing further to share at this time due to privacy considerations.”

 

The emails, spanning from 2003 to 2021, were part of a trove of thousands belonging to Mostafa Zahrani, former director general of strategic affairs in the foreign ministry and advisor to former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

 

The emails included passport copies, resumes, invitations to conferences, airplane tickets, visa applications, payment receipts, academic articles, and extensive correspondence with foreign ministry officials, university staff, and students, all of which helped in verifying their authenticity

Formation of Network

 

The formation of the Iran Experts Initiative was first proposed in 2014 by a Berlin-based Iranian diplomat, Saeed Khatibzadeh, a member of the in-house think tank of Iran’s foreign ministry - the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS).

 

He suggested to his superiors that by forming a network of Iranian analysts in “American and European think tanks”, and offering them “political support”, the Islamic Republic could promote its standpoint in the world.

 

The election of President Hassan Rouhani in 2013 and his détente policy with the West had created momentum to resolve the nuclear issue, and the initiative could help Tehran counter its image as a “pariah state”.

 

Khatibzadeh wrote in an email on March 5, 2014 to Majid Takht-Ravanchi, one of the leading Iranian nuclear negotiators, and Mostafa Zahrani, the head of the IPIS in Tehran: “This initiative which we call ‘Iran Experts Initiative (IEI)’ is consisted of a core group of 6-10 distinguished second-generation Iranians who have established affiliation with the leading international think-tanks and academic institutions, mainly in Europe and the US.”

 

Zahrani - a Revolutionary Guards member and a veteran diplomat - was instrumental in supporting the network and securing its funding, while acting as the main point of contact between the IEI members and Zarif.

 

Zahrani’s communications with almost a dozen Iranian analysts in Western think tanks between 2014 and 2021 showed how some of the analysts looked to Tehran for counsel. Tabatabai, for instance, sought Tehran’s advice on matters like visiting Israel or participating in conferences, while Vaez sent an article to the Iranian authorities for a pre-publication review.

 

Iranian foreign ministry, the IPIS, Zarif, Zahrani and Khatibzadeh did not respond to requests for comment.

 

The IPIS, which operates directly under the supervision of the Iranian foreign ministry, hosted a two-day conference in 2006 titled 'Review of the Holocaust: Global Vision' in Tehran. The conference drew criticism as it provided a platform for numerous Holocaust deniers and skeptics from around the world. Around 40 European and American research institutes severed ties with the IPIS because it hosted the conference.

Core Members

 

In an attachment to an email, Khatibzadeh first proposed a list of 21 Iranian analysts living abroad who he thought should join the IEI. Subsequent exchanges show the number of vetted individuals or those willing to cooperate was reduced to around 10.

 

Among the IEI top members was Ariane Tabatabai, currently chief of staff for Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations at US Department of Defense, and an official advisor to Robert Malley between 2021-2022, the documents show. She attended the nuclear negotiations in Vienna alongside Malley in 2021, according to a photo published by the Russian delegation.

 

In another email sent on March 11, 2014, Khatibzadeh told Zahrani: “This very idea of Iran Experts Initiative (IEI) was discussed between me and two of the young experts, we (you and me) met in the prague (sic) conference, i.e. Ariane Tabatabei (sic) and Dina Esfandiari (sic). We three agreed to be the core group of the IEI.”

The Ukrainian military has violated the Victory Day ceasefire more than 16,000 times since it took effect on Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry has said.

In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said Ukrainian forces had carried out drone and artillery strikes on civilian sites in Crimea, Belgorod Region, Kursk Region, Kaluga Region, Rostov Region, and Krasnodar Region.

In Belgorod alone, five civilians, including a teenager, were injured in Ukrainian drone attacks, according to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

 

Ukrainian troops also carried out 676 strikes against Russian positions using artillery, multiple-launch rocket systems, mortars, and tanks. Kiev’s forces launched 6,331 drone attacks and attempted eight assaults on Russian positions.

IIn total, the Russian MOD has recorded 16,071 ceasefire violations by Kiev’s forces since Friday, the statement said. Under those circumstances, Russian troops responded “symmetrically” by targeting firing positions, drone launch sites, and command centers.

Russian forces “continue to strictly observe the ceasefire regime and remain at previously occupied lines and positions,” the ministry stated.

 

The Victory Day truce announced by Russia last week to mark the 81st anniversary of the end of World War II was initially set to expire on Sunday, but following a proposal from US President Donald Trump, Moscow agreed to extend it for two more days.

Throughout the conflict, Moscow has repeatedly declared temporary truces during major religious and national holidays. Last month, Russia announced an Easter ceasefire, which the Defense Ministry said was violated by Ukrainian forces more than 6,500 times within 32 hours.

 

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky issued several veiled threats ahead of the Victory Day celebrations, prompting Moscow to warn its foreign partners about the possible consequences.

The Russian Defense Ministry warned that a retaliatory strike on central Kiev would be carried out if attempts were made to disrupt Victory Day events in Moscow, and urged residents and diplomats to leave the Ukrainian capital in advance.

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin said the warning apparently reached Washington and contributed to Trump’s extended ceasefire initiative.

He also said that while the globalist faction of Western elites is still effectively waging war against Russia, using Ukrainians as proxies, the conflict is heading towards its end.

Vitamins D&C + zinc is all I use. Before COVID I used to get sniffles about once or twice a year, would get a full blown flu about every 3-5 years. With COVID I did some studying found out about D. Since then I make sure to get plenty of direct full sun in the winter, use a UVB lamp during extended periods without sun. Haven't had the flu since. I catch myself grinding my throat a couple of times each winter, spike my C and zinc overnight, all gone by morning.

MOSCOW, May 9 (Reuters) -Russian President Vladimir Putin said on ​Saturday that he thought the Ukraine war was coming to an end, remarks that came just hours after he had vowed victory in Ukraine at Moscow's most ‌scaled-back Victory Day parade in years.

 

"I think that the matter is coming to an end," Putin told reporters of the Russia-Ukraine war, Europe's deadliest conflict since World War Two. He also said he would be willing to negotiate new security arrangements for Europe, and that his preferred negotiating partner would be Germany's former Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.

 

Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine triggered the most serious crisis in relations between Russia and the West ​since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, when many people feared the world was on the brink of nuclear war.

 

The Kremlin has said peace talks brokered by U.S. ​President Donald Trump's administration were on pause. Putin has repeatedly vowed to fight on until all of Russia's various war aims are achieved ⁠in what Moscow calls the "special military operation".

 

Putin was speaking in the Kremlin after setting out his view of the causes of the war. He blamed "globalist" Western leaders, saying they promised NATO ​would not expand eastward after the 1989 fall of the Berlin Wall, but then tried to draw Ukraine into the European Union's orbit.

 

His statement came just hours after the parade on ​the May 9 national holiday celebrating the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two.

 

The annual event pays homage to the 27 million Soviet citizens who perished in that war.

 

Instead of the usual intercontinental ballistic missiles, tanks and missile systems rolling across the cobbles of Red Square, Russia played a video of its military hardware in action on giant screens opposite the Kremlin walls.

 

Russian troops have been fighting ​in Ukraine for well over four years. That is longer than Soviet forces fought in World War Two, known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45.

 

WAR IN EUROPE

 

Putin, who ​has ruled Russia as president or prime minister since the last day of 1999, faces a wave of anxiety in Moscow about the war in Ukraine, which has killed hundreds of thousands of people, ‌left swathes ⁠of Ukraine in ruins, and drained Russia's $3 trillion economy. Russia's relations with Europe are worse than at any time since the depths of the Cold War.

 

Russian forces have so far been unable to take the whole of the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine where Kyiv's forces have been pushed back to a line of fortress cities. Russian advances have slowed this year, though Moscow controls just under one fifth of Ukrainian territory.

 

After Russia and Ukraine accused each other of violating unilateral ceasefires they had each declared over recent days, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ​from Saturday to Monday that was supported ​by the Kremlin and Kyiv. The two ⁠sides also agreed to exchange 1,000 prisoners.

 

"I'd like to see it stop. Russia-Ukraine - it's the worst thing since World War Two in terms of life. Twenty-five thousand young soldiers every month. It's crazy," Trump told reporters in Washington.

 

He added that he would "like to see a big extension" ​of the ceasefire. There were no reports of violations of the ceasefire from either Moscow or Kyiv.

 

TALKS WITH SCHROEDER?

 

European Council President Antonio ​Costa said last week ⁠he believed there was "potential" for the EU to negotiate with Russia, and to discuss the future of the security architecture of Europe.

 

Asked if he was willing to engage in talks with the Europeans, Putin said the preferable figure for him was Schroeder.

 

"For me personally, the former Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Schroeder, is preferable," Putin said.

 

European leaders have said Russia must be defeated ⁠in Ukraine and ​cast Putin as a war criminal and autocrat who they say could one day attack a NATO member ​if he is allowed to win the war. Russia dismisses such claims as nonsense.

 

Putin, who ordered troops into Ukraine in February 2022, casts European powers as warmongers for supporting Ukraine with tens of billions of dollars in support, ​weapons and intelligence.

 

Asked about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Putin said a meeting was possible only once a lasting peace deal was agreed.

VIENNA - Latvia's minister of defense has resigned following a renewed incursion of Ukrainian drones into the country's airspace, where they hit an empty fuel depot.

The incident marks the latest in a series of Baltic NATO airspace violations by misguided Ukrainian drones sent to strike Russian targets far away from Kyiv.

On May 7, two drones entered Latvia from Russian airspace, hitting a fuel depot. Nobody was injured. As early as March of this year, there had been incidents of Ukrainian drones crashing into Baltic allies' territory, with one hitting a power plant chimney.

Following the latest incident, Latvia's prime minister, Evika Siliņa, said that defense minister Andris Sprūds had lost her trust and "that of the public," calling on him to resign. He did so on Sunday, being replaced by Col. Raivis Melnis of the Latvian Army.

 

Also on Sunday, Ukraine's foreign minister, Andrii Sybiha, confirmed that the drones that struck Latvia were sent by his country, though not aimed at the Baltic republic.

The fact that the drones missed their targets and crashed in friendly territory instead, he said, "was the result of Russian electronic warfare deliberately diverting Ukrainian drones from their targets in Russia."

When a series of drones hit all three Baltic states earlier this year, there had been speculation that Russian electronic warfare may be to blame, and that Russia was deliberately re-routing the aircraft "back to sender" − but toward Europe.

 

The new statement by a top Ukrainian official provides the strongest public confirmation yet that this is a tactic employed by Moscow.

So far, there have been no deaths or injuries reported from wayward Ukrainian drones, but the accidental air strikes have laid bare the inadequate state of air defense even at NATO's most exposed frontier, with the lack of fatalities seemingly mostly a matter of luck.

In Thursday's strike, which took place 40 kilometers into Latvian territory from the Russian border, four empty oil storage tanks were damaged, and firefighters had to extinguish a smoldering area of around 30 square meters.

Schools in Rēzekne were closed, air raid alerts were declared across three municipalities, and residents reported hearing explosions. French NATO Baltic Air Policing jets were scrambled during the alert.

 

Latvian officials initially said the drones were not shot down because the safety of civilians and infrastructure could not be guaranteed.

Sprūds then reversed that stance entirely, saying: "Drones must be shot down - that's the responsibility of the head of the Armed Forces and myself, as the political leader."

As in March, the Baltic states have used the incident to call for stronger air defense measures. Latvia and Lithuania jointly called on NATO to boost regional air defenses in the wake of the May 7 strike, with Lithuania's defense minister Robertas Kaunas appealing to NATO that "Strengthening anti-drone defense in our region should be a particular emphasis, and additional capabilities are welcome here."

Lebanon accuses Israel of deliberately targeting medics

The Lebanese Health Ministry has accused the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) of deliberately targeting medics during airstrikes on the country.

Euroskeptic FPO leader Christian Hafenecker has called on Vienna’s money laundering watchdog to investigate

 

A right-wing Austrian politician has demanded that the country’s Finance Ministry explain how nearly $22 billion in cash and gold was shipped to Ukraine from Austria since 2022 without triggering concerns about money laundering or regulatory oversight.

 

In a statement published on Sunday, Austrian Freedom Party (FPO) Secretary General Christian Hafenecker called out what he described as Vienna’s “two-class justice system” for overlooking massive payments to Kiev, while keeping a tight hold on taxpayers’ purse strings.

 

“We’re not talking about play money here: 1,030 registered cash and gold shipments, around €12 billion ($14 billion) plus $7.75 billion, physically transported over 1,300 kilometers into the war zone,” Hafenecker said.

 

“And the responsible finance minister simply tells me… ‘We know nothing, we’re not investigating anything, we haven’t collected any information.’ That’s not an answer, that’s dereliction of duty,” he added.

 

By comparison, Austrian money laundering rules require a private citizen withdrawing as little as €12,000 from an inherited account to prove the origin of the funds, and any person crossing the EU’s external border with more than €10,000 in cash must declare it, Hafenecker said. “This is a two-class justice system in finance.”

 

The politician demanded full disclosure on all cash shipments from Austria to Ukraine since the escalation of the conflict, a full audit by the country’s Financial Market Supervisory Authority, and a report by the Austrian Money Laundering Reporting Office in parliament.

 

Earlier this year, the Euroskeptic FPO party demanded that Vienna cut all financial aid to Ukraine, denouncing the country as a corrupt “bottomless pit,” following a wave of high-level embezzlement scandals in Kiev.

 

Major probes by Ukraine’s Western-backed anti-graft agencies have implicated senior officials in Vladimir Zelensky’s government since last year. Two ministers and the Ukrainian leader’s chief of staff, Andrey Yermak, stepped down following the massive scandal.

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin has slammed the current leadership in Kiev, calling it a “criminal gang” sitting on “golden potties,” and interested far more in personal enrichment than in the fate of ordinary Ukrainians.

Israel should end reliance on US cash – Netanyahu

 

The Israeli PM said he hopes to bring the “financial component” of American military aid down to zero

 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that he plans to “wean” his country off US financial aid within the next decade, while blaming social media “manipulation” for declining public support for his country among Americans.

 

Israel is the largest recipient of aggregate US foreign aid since World War II, having received more than $300 billion in economic and military assistance from Washington since 1948.

 

Under a ten-year agreement signed in 2016, the US committed $38 billion in military aid to Israel through 2028, including $5 billion for the Iron Dome missile defense system. Overall, American assistance accounts for roughly 16% of the country’s military budget.

 

In an interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes aired on Sunday, Netanyahu was asked whether it was time for the Jewish state to “reexamine and possibly reset” its financial relationship with Washington.

 

“Absolutely. I’ve said this to President Trump. I’ve said it to our own people. Their jaws drop,” he replied.

 

“I want to draw down to zero the American financial support, the financial component of the military cooperation that we have,” the prime minister said, stating that the process should “start now” and be completed “over the next ten years.”

 

Netanyahu noted that he is well aware of declining support for Israel in the US. A recent Pew poll indicated that six in ten Americans have a very or somewhat unfavorable view of Israel, up seven percentage points since last year and nearly 20 points since 2022.

 

The Israeli leader outright dismissed the notion that the war in Gaza might have “contributed to this negative impression of Israel,” blaming the shift almost entirely on social media.

 

“Israel is besieged on the media front, on the propaganda front, and we’ve not done well on the propaganda war,” he said.

Trump says he’ll move to suspend federal gasoline tax. He can’t do it on his own

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said Monday he will move to suspend the federal tax on gasoline to help Americans shoulder surging fuel prices caused by the Iran war.

 

The president cannot suspend the federal tax on his own. Congress would have to approve the move.

 

Lawmakers from both parties have pushed for a gas-tax suspension, saying it would provide much-needed relief for families and businesses that rely on their cars and trucks to get to work and school and run everyday errands.

 

As of Monday, the average national gas price was $4.52 a gallon, according to the AAA motor club, 50% higher than the average price of just under $3 a gallon before Trump began the war against Iran.

 

What the gas tax supports

The federal tax is currently set at 18.4 cents per gallon on gasoline and 24.4 cents per gallon on diesel fuel, an amount that does not include state taxes, which often are higher.

 

Asked by reporters at the White House how long the tax should be suspended, Trump said, “Until it’s appropriate.” While the tax only adds about 18 cents per gallon to the price of gas, “it’s still money,” Trump said.

 

As gas prices have spiked, the Trump administration has released millions of barrels of oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve and temporarily lifted sanctions on some Russian and Iranian oil shipments already at sea. The U.S. is negotiating with countries reliant on Middle East crude to join a coalition to police the Strait of Hormuz, where about one-fifth of the world’s traded oil normally flows.

 

The gas tax provides more than $23 billion per year in revenue for federal highway and public transit programs.

 

Trump needs Congress — and they’re beginning to react

Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri said on social media Monday that he will introduce legislation to suspend the gas tax. Democrats have previously sponsored similar legislation.

 

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., also said in a post on X that she will introduce a bill “to suspend the federal gas tax in light of Trump’s recent remarks.”

 

The ongoing spike in gas prices has set off alarms among some Republicans that it could hurt the party’s chances in the midterm elections. Trump has previously said higher fuel prices are worth paying to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.

 

That hardline message appeared to soften Sunday as Energy Secretary Chris Wright said the Trump administration was “open to all ideas,” including a suspension of the gas tax, during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

 

A bill sponsored by Democratic Sens. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Mark Kelly of Arizona would suspend the federal tax through Oct. 1. A similar measure was sponsored in the House by Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas of New Hampshire.

 

“Trump’s war of choice with Iran is driving up gas prices across the country — and Americans shouldn’t have to bear the additional economic burden of Trump’s reckless decision making,”

 

Several states, including Indiana and Georgia, have recently suspended their taxes to alleviate high prices amid the war. Other states are weighing similar suspensions. Blumenthal said in introducing the bill.

Ukraine is emerging as a global drone export powerhouse, coming fresh off vast experience gained in over four years of war with Russia - or at least that's the image Kiev is seeking to present to the world.

 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday that nearly 20 countries are pursuing drone agreements with Ukraine, with four deals already finalized.

 

Agreements already confirmed include deals with Germany, Norway and the Netherlands, alongside ‌long-term security partnerships with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates which were inked in late March as Zelensky personally toured the Gulf, even amid the ongoing Iran war, according to Reuters.

 

Zelensky has been offering Ukraine's services and drone supplies to Gulf countries as a cheaper, effective alternative to dwindling and costly American-supplied anti-air defenses.

 

"Nearly 20 countries are currently involved at various stages: 4 agreements have already been signed, and the first contracts under these agreements are now being prepared," Zelensky has newly proclaimed on X.

 

"Ukraine has ​already ⁠started to receive the necessary volume of fuel thanks to the agreements," Zelensky also stated. Interestingly, he's also of late been pitching being a supplier of battlefield robots, as we've detailed before.

 

Starting in April, Zelensky had hailed that Ukrainian personnel were able to help partners build effective air defenses using interceptor drones to combat Iranian Shaheds.

 

Low-cost interceptor drones deployed by Ukraine are among the most effective ways to combat the inexpensive $20,000 Shaheds, as a war of attrition makes little economic sense when interceptor missiles cost hundreds of thousands of dollars or more.

 

Ukraine has had four years to develop low-cost one-way attack drones and interceptors during its war with Russia. Now, this technology is clearly being exported across multiple theaters in Eurasia.

 

Zelensky did not identify the countries or the exact interceptor drones used in his comments at the time, but it is possible that Octopus-100 autonomous interceptor drones were deployed.

A non-profit donor to a super PAC that supported Graham’s failed 2016 presidential primary bid has filed a highly questionable tax return.

 

The filings appear to deliberately misrepresent the group’s political activity.

 

The South Carolina Conservative Action Alliance (SCCAA) explicitly told the IRS it did not spend a single dime on electoral politics in 2015.

 

There’s just one problem:

 

Federal Election Commission records tell a completely different story.

 

According to the FEC, SCCAA contributed a massive $140,000 to the Security is Strength PAC in September 2015.

 

At the exact same time, that super PAC was funding independent expenditures to prop up Graham’s struggling presidential campaign.

 

That $140,000 contribution accounted for nearly 90 percent of the non-profit's total spending for the entire year.

 

When pressed on the tax forms, SCCAA claimed the money was spent on "lobbying."

 

However, neither federal nor state records show SCCAA ever employing a single lobbyist.

 

This is not an isolated incident.

 

Another non-profit donor to the same pro-Graham super PAC, Freedom Frontier, told the IRS it raised no more than $50,000 in 2015.

 

Yet, the Security is Strength PAC reported receiving a staggering $250,000 from Freedom Frontier just months later.

 

The discrepancy means someone is lying to federal authorities.

 

Either the non-profits are hiding their political activities from the IRS, or the super PAC is falsifying its donor reports.

 

The ties between SCCAA and Graham run deep.

 

The group’s board chairman, David Wilkins, is a former ambassador who has publicly described himself as "good friends" with Graham since 1992.

 

Furthermore, SCCAA’s records are maintained by the daughter of Richard Quinn, a powerful political consultant currently the focus of an ongoing corruption probe in South Carolina.

 

In 2015, Graham’s presidential campaign paid Quinn’s firm over $134,000.

 

Now, conservative voters are demanding answers about the secret money fueling Graham's political ambitions.

My preference is direct sunlight. even window glass can block out the UVB from the sun. But where I live we can have up to two weeks of storms. Since D is consumed in about 4 days I use the lamp as a supplement. I doubt it is enough by itself but I think it helps slow the loss.

My issue with the oral D is that I don't think it is the same. My research said that it is possible to OD on the oral stuff, not possible with what the body makes in the skin. The two are slightly different chemically as well.

Just my reasoning.

I think you might preferer the story from a number of years back, I think I heard it from even before his first term where he went to some sex parties full of underage girls. 70 terrorists ‘killed’ in Niger drone strikes

There were no civilian casualties in yesterday’s dawn strikes by troops on terrorists in Niger State, the military said yesterday.

The aerial bombardment by the Nigerian Air Force on Guradnayi community in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, killed about 70 terrorists, the military said.

 

Guradnayi, a settlement near Kusasu, has frequently come under attacks by terrorists.

Locals claimed that strikes, which were carried out around 5am yesterday, reportedly affected civilians.

But in a statement, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), through its Director of Defence (Media Operations), Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja, refuted the report.

According to him, the operations were “meticulously planned and executed based on credible and actionable intelligence.”

 

Onoja said: “The Defence Headquarters wishes to clarify reports circulating in certain quarters alleging that civilians were killed in the aerial interdiction strike conducted in the early hours of Sunday, May 10, 2026, across Katerma, Bokko, Kusasu, and Kuduru villages in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

“The operations were meticulously planned and executed based on credible, actionable intelligence confirming the convergence of terrorists at those specific locations.

“Contrary to the narrative being circulated, the strikes were precisely targeted at identified terrorist enclaves and achieved their intended military objectives, neutralizing approximately seventy armed bandits in Kusasu alone.

“These are armed groups who had been tracked and confirmed as hostile elements actively planning attacks on civilian communities and military assets in the area.”

 

The Defence spokesperson explained that between 11:59pm to 6am yesterday, the Nigerian Army UAV Command acting on intelligence conducted multiple air strikes on different bandits’ locations, including Katerma, Bokko, Kusasu and Kuduru Villages all in Shiroro LGA of Niger State.

According to him, further reports from local sources confirmed that the aerial interdiction was precise on target at Kusasu, Katerma and Bokko.

 

The military spokesman said that the military also gathered that about 70 bandits were hit and killed in Kusasu, while others were sighted gathering the remains of their colleagues for burial while others on about 200 motorcycles moved towards Zango.

Gen. Onoja said: “Another group from Bokko were also seen advancing towards Zango apparently to meet their colleagues and perfect their next plan of either retreating or attacking Sarkin Pawa or the government/security infrastructure in Kuchi.

“Other groups were also seen converging on Kopa, East of Mongoro, suggesting a possible plan to attack government/security infrastructure in Mongoro. “The military took necessary steps to neutralise all these threats in a timely manner.”

 

The military high command said it remains “fully committed” to the protection of all law-abiding citizens and conducts all operations in strict accordance with the rules of engagement and applicable laws.

It urged the media and the public to “exercise restraint and avoid amplifying unverified accounts that serve no purpose other than to embolden criminal elements, undermine troop morale, and erode public confidence in ongoing security operations.”

Sudanese Army Targets RSF Positions in Nyala With Fresh Drone Strikes

The Sudanese Armed Forces, on Sunday, May 10, carried out drone strikes on strategic positions held by the RSF (Rapid Support Forces) in Nyala for the second consecutive day, according to local sources.

 

The attacks reportedly coincided with the presence in the city of RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo and several senior leaders. Nyala has been designated by the RSF as the capital of its parallel “Foundation Government”.

 

Sources told Sudan Tribune that at least three explosions were heard in central Nyala, near the international airport and at a site in the Al-Riyadh neighbourhood. An RSF training centre inside the city was also reportedly targeted.

 

Following the strikes, the RSF allegedly shut down telecommunications services across Nyala, according to sources cited by Al-Hadath TV.

 

Reports indicate that the RSF has transformed several civilian institutions, including schools and other educational facilities, into assembly and training centres for Sudanese and foreign fighters.

 

The sites are reportedly being used for combat training, drone operations and air defence exercises.

 

In September 2024, the RSF reopened Nyala Airport, which has since reportedly received near-daily flights originating from military bases in Chad, Libya and Somaliland.

 

The facilities are alleged to be under the control of the United Arab Emirates. The Sudanese army has repeatedly targeted the airport in recent months in an effort to disrupt RSF supply routes and military operations.

WJC President Ronald S. Lauder, who introduced Döpfner, offered his own criticism of international media coverage of Israel.

Former President and CEO of Failed Oklahoma Bank Pleads Guilty to Bank Fraud

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – DANNY SEIBEL, the former president and CEO of the now-defunct First National Bank of Lindsay (FNBL), has pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud, announced U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

 

According to court documents, Seibel, 55, of Lindsay, Oklahoma, was an executive at FNBL from in or around February 2007 until his termination in September 2024. As alleged, Seibel caused FNBL to issue loans to certain customers, many of whom were his personal friends and neighbors, that the borrowers never repaid. Seibel then manipulated the bank’s records and falsified various bank reports to falsely overstate the performance of the loans, including by using new loans or transfers of the bank’s own funds to cover overdrafts of outstanding loans.

 

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency appointed a receiver for the bank in October 2024.

 

On December 3, 2025, a federal grand jury charged Seibel with bank fraud. Yesterday, Seibel pleaded guilty and admitted he knowingly executed a scheme to defraud the First National Bank of Lindsay. At sentencing, he faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million.
