The Brief

- Larry Nassar is among those removed from the Michigan sex offender registry after a state supreme court ruling, according to one of the offices that prosecuted him.

- The Eaton County prosecuting attorney’s office said Nassar was registered on the list at sentencing, and had been there until last week.

- More than 20,000 names were removed last month in accordance with the ruling.

 

Larry Nassar, Michigan State University’s disgraced sports doctor, is one of 20,000 people removed from the Michigan sex offender’s registry after a ruling from Michigan Supreme Court last month, according to one of the offices that prosecuted him.

Big picture view

More than 20,000 registered sex offenders were removed from the Michigan registry in September after a ruling by the state supreme court.

 

Dig deeper: The Michigan Supreme Court ruled that by keeping those 20,000 individuals on the registry, which numbers 43,000 overall, the state was retroactively increasing their punishments.

 

Under the constitution, a penalty for a crime from the past can't be affected by a new law passed today. All of those whose names were removed, committed crimes before July 1, 2011.

 

At that time, sentences given out to offenders included a time-limited period on the registry with an expiration date.

Larry Nassar removed from sex offender registry

 

What they're saying: The Eaton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said on Facebook this week that Nassar is among those delisted from the Michigan Sex Offender’s Registry after a state supreme court ruling.

 

Nassar was prosecuted in both Ingham and Eaton counties, as well as federal court.

Dig deeper: Some asked in the comments for clarification about the timeline of Nassar’s crimes and conviction, and how the ruling still applied to him.

 

"His conviction was after 2011 for crimes committed prior to 2011. There are many many sex offenders in prison who are on the list. Nassar is no longer there because his conduct occurred before 2011 despite his convictions coming after," the office explained in one comment.

 

And the office explained in another reply that, "the date is for the date of the offenses not the date of conviction," and said Nassar’s charging documents all reference crimes he committed prior to 2011.

 

Meanwhile: The prosecuting attorney’s office listed several other people who committed significant sex crimes that had also been removed from the list – and said the Michigan Supreme Court’s decision to eliminate sex offender requirements for these offenders was "deeply concerning."

 

"Our community, along with the victims of these crimes, expected the registry to provide a measure of protection and awareness—assurances that have now been removed by the Court’s ruling. As two members of the Court campaign this fall, they may wish to explain how their decision does not compromise these victim’s safety or sense of security," the post said.

 

The Eaton County prosecutor is Doug Lloyd, who is the Republican nominee for attorney general in Michigan.

 

Hearings were held allowing survivors of disgraced ex-sports doctor Larry Nassar to address the FBI and it's failings in investigating their reports of sexual abuse for years.

 

Big picture view: Nassar was a Michigan State University sports doctor as well as a doctor at Indianapolis-based USA Gymnastics. He is serving decades in prison for assaulting female athletes, including medal-winning Olympic gymnasts, under the guise of treatment.

 

Sentencing: On Dec. 7, 2017, Larry Nassar was sentenced to 60 years in prison on federal child pornography charges brought by the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan. According to MSU Police, the child pornography investigation did not reveal any images of the survivors of his sexual abuse.

 

On Jan. 24, 2018, Nassar was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison for seven counts of felony criminal sexual conduct in Ingham County Circuit Court. On Feb. 5, 2018, he was sentenced to an additional 40 to 125 years in prison for three counts of felony criminal sexual conduct in Eaton County.

 

His federal and state sentences run consecutively.

“NHI vs. NHI” David Grusch Tells Joe Rogan ‘We Have Records’ Some UAP Crashes May Be Evidence of NHI at War with Each Other

For decades, one question has hovered over alleged UFO crash-retrieval stories; If an intelligence so advanced that it can travel through space, or perhaps manipulate physics in ways humans can’t — can build machines, that keep crashing?

Former U.S. intelligence officer and UAP whistleblower David Grusch may have just offered one of the strangest possible answers.

 

Maybe some of them didn't simply crash.

During a Sept. 30 appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Grusch discussed information and materials that he reviewed, suggesting that multiple distinct forms of what he calls non-human intelligence, or NHI, may be operating around Earth — and indicated that at least some of these groups may have come into conflict with one another.

In the 2-hour, 36-minute episode Grusch describes something much stranger than aliens visiting Earth. Grusch's new account potentially changes the framework of the crash-retrieval mystery.

 

In the interview, Grusch described information associating different types of NHI beings with different types of craft.

He discussed a species that resembles a gorilla, and tall-humanlike entities associated with boomerang or crescent-shaped craft. He also described reptilian-looking entities and associated them directly with the Tic-Tac-shaped vehicles.

Most remarkably, Grusch described an alleged retrieval site involving more than one type of entity — including what were characterized as the short greys and reptilian beings that stood above 7 ft. tall — which he said suggested conflict between separate NHI groups.

 

That claim remains unverified. USA Herald found no publicly released physical evidence establishing the existence of those entities or proving that a battle between non-human intelligences occurred.

But taken at face value, Grusch's account introduces an extraordinary possibility into the UAP phenomena.

 

The familiar model has always looked something like this:

Unknown craft → malfunction or accident → crash → human recovery.

 

Grusch's account raises another possibility:

NHI craft → encounter with another NHI group → conflict → damaged or destroyed craft → crash → human recovery.

 

That is a fundamentally different story.

What If Humans Aren't the Only Ones Shooting at Each Other?

If multiple technologically advanced non-human groups were actually operating around Earth, there would be no scientific reason to automatically assume they shared the same interests, culture, objectives or relationship with humanity.

Different technology can represent different governments, alliances and strategic objectives. If Grusch's allegations were eventually substantiated, something similar could conceivably apply to NHI.

 

From 'Non-Human Biologics' to Alleged NHI Conflict

The significance of Grusch's latest statements becomes clearer when compared with what he told Congress three years ago.

During his July 26, 2023 congressional testimony, Rep. Nancy Mace asked whether bodies had been recovered from alleged crashed craft.

Grusch responded that “biologics” had accompanied some recoveries and, when asked whether they were human or non-human, answered, “Non-human.”

Importantly, Grusch said that was the assessment of people with direct knowledge of the alleged program with whom he had spoken.

 

In a previous episode on Rogan, his earlier claim was essentially: Recovered craft + alleged non-human biological material.

The latest account goes considerably further: More specific details about the different NHI types + different craft + conflict between them.

 

There Is Still a Major Evidence Problem

Extraordinary testimony is not the same thing as independently verifiable evidence.

The Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office has reached conclusions directly at odds with the larger crash-retrieval narrative.

In its 2024 historical review, AARO said it found no empirical evidence that the U.S. government or private companies had been reverse-engineering extraterrestrial technology and no evidence that a U.S. government investigation had confirmed a UAP as extraterrestrial technology.

 

That does not mean every UAP has been explained.

AARO continues to publish cases it classifies as unresolved, including military imagery in which available information was insufficient for a definitive identification.

But unresolved does not mean extraterrestrial, much less evidence of competing non-human civilizations.

That evidentiary line is crucial.

 

The Question Nobody Thought We Would Have to Ask

For decades, popular culture imagined "the aliens" as though whatever might be visiting Earth would be doing so with one agenda - peace.

But what Grusch is describing, is something profoundly different.

 

If his sources are ultimately proven correct, humanity may not be confronting one mysterious intelligence at all.

What observers have grouped together under labels such as UFO, UAP, extraterrestrial or NHI could theoretically represent multiple actors with different technologies, interests and perhaps adversarial relationships with one another.

And that creates an unsettling reinterpretation of the crash-retrieval mystery.

 

Perhaps the question isn't simply why an extraordinarily advanced spacecraft would crash.

The question may eventually become - What brought it down?

 

For now, that remains a question — not an established fact.

But after Grusch's latest interview, it may be one investigators can no longer ignore.

UFO expert Avi Loeb has declared US authorities "aren't doing their job" if they can't explain the mysterious objects spotted in our skies.

 

Professor Avi Loeb of Harvard University, who is a leading US astrophysicist who sits on the UAP Science Advisory Council, has given his thoughts on the scale of the reporting of UAPs (unidentified anomalous phenomena) in documents released by the Pentagon and insisted officials need to take the investigation into the sightings more serious.

 

He told Popular Mechanics magazine: "The Pentagon is unable to tell us what some objects in the sky are, so they’re not doing their job. That’s a serious matter."

 

In the interview, Loeb also shrugged off criticism of his views on UFOs from the scientific community and insisted he's not afraid to speak his mind on such an important subject.

 

It comes after Loeb suggested glowing orbs seen in the sky could be a "warp drive" used by alien space craft as a transportation mechanism.

 

During an appearance on NewsNation, he explained: "If they have a cargo transportation system between habitable planets within their planetary system, we might see flashes of light from the beamer of a light sail.

 

"Technology that we can imagine. We don’t have such a system as of yet, but they may have it. In addition, they may also use for transportation a warp drive.

 

"That’s a bubble of distorted space-time that allows one to carry a cargo at an arbitrary speed across interstellar distances …

 

"If a warp bubble passes through the Earth’s atmosphere, it would cause a disturbance and produce a glowing ball of air. "

 

He added: "In fact, there are reports in the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters from the U.S. government, including excellent work by the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) in the Pentagon, about orbs.

 

"These are mysterious glowing spheres that they appear to be seeing and the FBI and other government agencies are reporting about.

 

"It’s not at all clear what some of these orbs are. Some of them might be drones but others are definitely not drones. And so it’s a detective story for us to figure out what technology might be employed if these orbs came from outer space."

WA’s UFO files: The bizarre sightings police secretly documented for decades

With Spooktober upon us, we thought it was about time to revisit WA’s bizarre history of UFO sightings – and the once-secret police file that came with it.

It’s 1951 and a land inspector was camping out in his station wagon, about 60km east of Bridgetown.

 

Staring up into the night sky, at a time when the first artificial satellite was still years away, he noticed an unidentified flying object above him.

For about 20 minutes, he observed the object – a noiseless, wingless, tailless vessel which glowed with green and orange lights, before accelerating and disappearing into the night sky.

 

That sighting became the first of many strange encounters to find its way into the Police Department’s ‘UFO File’, which documented a number of unexplained sightings across WA.

For decades the file was kept secret up until 2007, when it was made public following a review of police records.

 

One of the earlier reports dates back to December 15, 1954, where two men driving from Carnarvon to Geraldton spotted a strange orange light in the sky.

Joking that the object could be a “flying saucer”, the two men kept driving for another 20 minutes, watching the light of the object appear and disappear. They then stopped the car and got out to take a better look, which is when they claim the light came towards them.

“When the machine got to within a quarter of a mile from us it started to turn and then we definitely saw what appears to be port holes along the side of the machine… the machine then completely disappeared,” the witness said.

 

In another sighting from August 5, 1961, a 37-year-old shearing contractor and five others were at a station 70 miles west of Meekatharra when they noticed about 12 strange flying objects described as being round and brightly silver.

At the time the contractor said the objects were “travelling at a fast speed and could be kept in sight for only about two minutes.”

The contractor also claimed the object produced “white substances which took on various shapes whilst falling to the ground.” “It was of snow white colour… it crumbled very easily,” he said.

 

On October 30, 1967, Alexander Spargo was driving towards Boyup Brook from Kojonup when his car suddenly came to a stop.

His motor turned off and his headlights went out when, out of nowhere, a tube of light descended close to the windscreen.

He said the tube of light had descended from an object shaped like a football, that had an iridescent blue colour with a pulsating glow appearance about nine metres in diameter.

 

Mr Spargo said he sat looking at the light for about five minutes, claiming to be in a state of shock. He mentioned there was no noise. The object then moved off very quickly and disappeared in a “flash”.

The report also mentioned he deliberately didn’t go to the press, for fear of being regarded publicly as a “crank” – something he admitted doing previously when reading about other people’s sightings.

 

Many more similar and strange sightings are documented in the 163-page file, with most reports coming from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.

Is Ufology a Science or a Pseudo-Science?

Insights from philosopher of science Karl Popper help us think through the UFO question.

 

Key points

Karl Popper articulated falsifiability to distinguish between science and pseudo-science.

While ufology has been considered a pseudo-science, there may be some ways to make it more scientific.

UFOs might be light-based phenomena like holograms and not solid, material objects.

 

Sir Karl Popper (1902-1994), one of the most influential 20th-century philosophers of science, was determined to distinguish real science from pseudo-science.

It irked him that some so-called "scientific theories" seemed as easy to confirm as vague horoscope predictions. So what would Popper have to say about ufology—the study of UFOs (or UAPs)?

 

The Demarcation Problem

Popper was particularly troubled by Freudian psychoanalysis, Alfred Adler's individual psychology, and Karl Marx's theory of history because these theories seemed too easy to confirm with simple observations and confirmation bias (i.e., the tendency to observe only what you already believe).

For example, if our horoscope reports we will soon face "a significant challenge" in our lives, sure enough, something happens that fits the bill since life is full of challenges.

But there should be something special about scientific theories, Popper believed—something that sets them apart as a reliable path to knowledge and scientific progress.

 

For Popper, that something was the criterion of falsifiability: a theory is scientific only if it is falsifiable (i.e., if it can potentially be proven false).

If, by contrast, a theory can only be confirmed with cumulative supporting evidence, then it is pseudo-scientific.

 

A famous example of falsifiability is how Einstein’s theory of general relativity earned scientific status according to Popper's criterion.

The theory predicts that light rays from distant stars will be deflected (i.e., bent) by the sun’s gravitational field. And during a solar eclipse in 1919, astrophysicists observed that starlight was in fact deflected by the sun and by almost precisely the degree predicted by Einstein.

The theory is scientific, in Popper's sense, because it made a falsifiable prediction (it could have been that starlight was not deflected or not to the degree predicted by Einstein), though it was not in fact falsified.

 

Ufology and Falsifiable Predictions

From what I've observed, ufologists are mainly concerned with making observations and sharing information—both important aspects of any investigative enterprise, but not yet "scientific" according to Popper's criterion.

To be scientific in a Popperian sense, ufology would need to make falsifiable predictions; for example, that the night-sky objects people are calling UFOs are really just holograms or a play of light, and not physical objects at all. Why propose this?

 

If UFOs are just light, this could account for many of the UFO reports, including the glowing orbs, light triangles, and strings of lights famously witnessed over New Jersey a few years ago.

We haven't made contact with these objects while they are aflight, so we cannot assume they are actual physical objects with characteristics like weight and material composition.

 

Crafts Unlike Any We've Ever Seen Before

The many UFO sightings reported by pilots while in flight typically include references to instantaneous acceleration, right-angle pivots, and absence of sound and propulsion (like exhaust plumes)—all of which sound more like apparitions than physical crafts moving through spacetime. These elusive UFOs we can see but never catch invoke the metaphorical cat chasing the laser pointer around the living room.

 

This UFOs-are-light hypothesis does not speak to reports of crashed crafts people claim to have touched or physical traces like purported burn marks left at UFO crash sites.

But it does begin to advance one subset of so-called UFOs—the night-sky light phenomena—as a potential subject of scientific investigation.

Popper observed that "science is one of the very few human activities […] in which errors are systematically criticized and fairly often, in time, corrected" and that "in science, we often learn from our mistakes, and […] can speak clearly and sensibly about making progress there" (Popper, 1963).

 

Following Popper here, could our error be in assuming these UFOs are solid, physical crafts, which incites fear when they appear to fly dangerously close to our aircraft and hover above our cities and nuclear power plants?

If they're not such objects, and are instead light-based phenomena, then we could begin to make progress in other, more promising directions toward a true understanding of what these things are and why they're here.

Nouan Mustafa, 36, and Mohsin Khan, 40, are the two men at the center of this latest scheme. Mustafa was at Los Angeles International Airport, where he tried to board a one-way flight to Pakistan in February. Khan was arrested this week in Bakersfield.

Both have dual U.S. and Pakistani citizenship.

Law enforcement said the two men created a series of shell companies between January 2025 and January 2026 that were designed to look like legitimate “durable medical equipment” companies, or DME companies.

Officials said in reality, the businesses had no storefronts, warehouses or any locations were legitimate business was conducted.

Through the shell companies, court officials said Mustafa and Khan submitted $3.5 million in fraudulent claims to Medicare.

“They typically relied on one company for only a few weeks or months until its claims began getting denied for suspected fraud, at which point they shifted to the next company,” officials said. “Mustafa and Khan got the information to file the fraudulent claims from their contacts in Pakistan and elsewhere.”

The courts are alleging that the two defendants pocketed about 30% of the proceeds and sent the rest to their contacts.

The Omani national who allegedly attempted to hijack a plane bound for Tel Aviv allegedly discussed killing Jews online before attacking the captain and sending the aircraft into a steep dive.

 

The co-pilot accused of attacking the captain of an Israel-bound passenger plane was allegedly prepared to die and had discussed killing Jews online, according to an Israeli official.

 

The suspect, an Omani citizen, was detained in Saudi Arabia and has not been publicly identified.

 

An Israeli official told The Times of Israel the man “was a suicide actor who was probably going to try to down that plane”.

 

"His social media accounts (say) clearly that he has been radicalised into jihadist ideology. He talks about killing Jews,” the official added.

 

“This was a person who was willing to commit suicide.”

 

The claims came after the Flydubai aircraft was forced into an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia following a dramatic struggle in the cockpit on Wednesday.

 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the co-pilot was “suicidal” and probably intended to bring down the Boeing 737 after attacking and wounding the captain.

No trial.

Last Friday night, deputies say, she picked up a baseball bat and a knife.

 

Investigators believe the attack happened in the dark, overnight.

 

Then she LEFT.

 

Her 3-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son lay injured in that house, for HOURS.

 

Saturday afternoon the 6-year-old found a way to call his grandmother.

 

He told her his mom wasn't there, and he and his sister were hungry.

 

Grandma grabbed Gosnell's ex-boyfriend and drove over.

 

They found both children covered in BL00D.

Glass everywhere.

 

"Between the two children, we're estimating that there were approximately 50 ST*B wounds," said Graham McLellan with the Sheriff's Office.

Prosecutors say he's "facing the possibility of amputation of fingers and possibly an arm."

Then she tried to run from the ambulance.

Update(1530ET): Iranians are apparently going back on the offensive, after it's been widely reported that US-protected oil transit through the Strait of Hormuz has been fast gaining steam. Iran state media says a supertanker is burning off the coast of Oman after coming under Iranian attack:

 

Local sources reported that a 2.5 million barrel capacity supertanker that was traveling through the Strait of Hormuz illegally was hit 8 kilometers off the coast of Oman and is burning, reports Fars

 

Earlier we reported that starting in mid-August (on Aug. 16), Iran’s Supreme National Security Council set October 1 as a deadline. It warned at the time that if Washington failed to lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports within 45 days, Tehran could resume attacks against US forces, and by implication step up attacks on foreign shipping.

 

Iran’s 45-day deadline for the United States has now expired. That deadline has now passed, potentially adding another layer of uncertainty to an already tense confrontation where Tehran may decide it must act 'preemptively' while facing more bombs by Trump (likely after the midterms).

 

Signs of potential major escalation, or the next round at least (which Trump has hinted will come after the midterm elections), just hit The Wall Street Journal, and sent oil prices soaring. A quick summary:

Cotton Calls For Military Supply Chain Security Review After F-35 Parts Diverted To Hong Kong

 

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) asked the Department of War on Sept. 29 to review security controls for U.S. military equipment and supplies transported through commercial and contractor-managed supply chains, citing reports that F-35 components bound for the United States from Australia were diverted to Hong Kong.

 

In a letter to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Cotton cited the diversion of F-35 components being shipped from Australia and reports that the Chinese government had taken possession of the parts and had not returned them.

 

"We can't afford for U.S. military equipment to fall into the hands of a foreign adversary because of vulnerabilities in commercial transportation," Cotton wrote.

 

Cotton, chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, also said in a Sept. 29 post on X that secure supply chains are critical to ensuring weapons, technology, and supplies reach U.S. troops rather than adversaries.

 

"That's why I'm calling on [the Department of War] to conduct a review and take any necessary actions," he wrote.

 

5 Areas for Review

Cotton's request extends beyond the circumstances of the missing F-35 components.

 

He asked the Department of War to examine five areas: chain-of-custody requirements for military equipment and supplies moved by contractors and commercial carriers, the department's ability to track the location and routing of shipments, procedures for approving and reporting route changes, criteria for allowing shipments to pass through foreign jurisdictions, and safeguards against military materiel transiting through or being diverted to China and other adversary-controlled jurisdictions.

 

The department relies extensively on contractors and commercial carriers to move military equipment, replacement parts, and other supplies around the world, Cotton wrote.

 

He said those arrangements provide speed and ease of movement but should not come at the expense of the U.S. military advantage.

 

While classified and designated sensitive components should receive heightened protections, Cotton said all U.S. military materiel could give adversaries information about American weapons systems, logistics, and readiness, as well as access to U.S. troops.

 

Cotton said securing the supply chains was necessary both to ensure U.S. troops have access to advanced equipment and technology and to prevent adversaries from gaining access to U.S. technology.

 

F-35 Parts Diverted to Hong Kong

The F-35 Joint Program Office confirmed to The Epoch Times on Sept. 18 that it and the Office of the Secretary of War were aware of a "shipment issue" involving unserviceable F-35 Lightning II components.

 

"We are actively working with U.S. authorities and industry partners to retrieve these components, investigate the incident, and place safeguards to avoid a future occurrence," the program office said.

 

The office did not identify the components, say where the shipment had been diverted, or explain how the diversion occurred.
