NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - Kenya's president will meet with President Donald Trump on Monday as East Africa's commercial hub emerges from months of electoral turmoil.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is the second African leader to meet with Trump at the White House. Nigeria's president visited earlier this year.

Kenyatta's office says he and Trump will focus on trade and regional security. Kenya is the third highest recipient of U.S. security aid in sub-Saharan Africa, according to the Security Assistance Monitor.

Both Kenya and the U.S. have troops in Somalia, and the al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab extremist group has crossed the border to carry out dozens of attacks inside Kenya, calling it retribution for sending troops. Nearly 100 Kenyan police officers have been killed since May 2017 in bombings and ambushes.

The Kenyan president during his Washington visit also is meeting with U.S. business leaders to promote investment.

The meeting with Trump will help Kenyatta's image after a crisis in which the Supreme Court overturned the August presidential election, citing irregularities, and the opposition boycotted the fresh vote, said political commentator John Githongo.

Kenyatta then hosts British Prime Minister Theresa May on Thursday.

Kenya's foreign minister has said this is May's first visit to Africa since taking office in July 2016.

Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma has said May's choice of Kenya shows the country's importance among the community of nations.

Kenyatta and May are expected to discuss strengthening existing security agreements, Kenyan officials have said.

"Predatory" Chicago Funeral Homes Make Killing Amid Soaring Murder Rate

Chicago funeral homes are raking it in amid the city's largely ignored murder epidemic, reports Fox News.

Taking advantage of a taxpayer-funded scheme which guarantees up to $7,500 in funeral expenses for the families of homicide victims, several funeral directors have been accused of inflating prices or charging families for services which were never performed.

“Every funeral home in the state knows that victims get $7,500 for a funeral and it’s their goal to charge the entire amount because it’s easy money,” Susan Johnson, executive director of Chicago Survivors, told Fox News.

Johnson, whose organization helps people who have lost loved ones to homicide, claims some zero in on people receiving money from the Illinois Crime Victim’s Compensation fund.

The state – along with the federal government – provides eligible victims of violent crime with up to $27,000 in financial assistance for out-of-pocket expenses. The families of murder victims get $7,500 for funeral costs.

According to the National Funeral Directors Association, the average cost of a funeral for an adult is between $7,000 and $8,300. The Federal Trade Commission puts the figure slightly higher at around $10,000. -Fox News

The $7,500 from the Crime Victim's Compensation Fund is intended to be applied towards a casket, transportation, staff salaries and other memorialization costs.

In one case, Johnson - a former pastor - claims a funeral home held a body "hostage" because the family couldn't not produce additional funds after being quoted one price but charged another.

In one particularly shocking case, a 45-year-old woman’s body had been partially burned. The funeral home failed to pick up her remains in time for the service. Instead, they put an empty casket in front of the church and didn’t tell the family. When the victim’s 19-year-old son demanded to see his mother’s body, the funeral director eventually produced a second casket. When it was opened, mourners were horrified that the mortician failed to dress the body as they claimed they had. The last image the son had of his murdered mother was a charred and mangled mess. -Fox News

The authorities in Jacksonville, Fla., said there were “multiple fatalities” at a mass shooting on Sunday at a bar that was hosting a live gaming event during which 12 gunshots could be heard.

Some thoughts on NoName:

If NoName was privately executed via military tribunal than this is not advancing the cause. There is a reason executions are announced to the public, and a reason they were once held publicly - to let everyone know what has happened…no confusion, no second-guessing, no conspiracies….to execute NoName secretly does not bring his crimes to light, does not let the public know that justice was served, and would cast doubt on proceedings if it ever DID become public.

For this reason I cannot believe that NoName was executed and am more inclined to believe that something major involving him (other than execution) was slated for this weekend and he chose an alternate way out. Jeremy Nathaniel Geffen was the son of Jo-Ann Geffen, a music executive and manager to Lionel Richie and the Commodores during the group's earlier days.

During college, Geffen worked in the mail room at the talent agency William Morris and later found himself working with the Wright Entertainment Group, where he worked with talents such as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

Sexual assault charges and conviction Edit

In March 2008, Geffen was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on suspicion of three sexual assaults involving two 16-year-old girls.[8][9][10] He accepted a plea agreement, pled guilty and completed his sentence.[11]

Geffen was primarily a supporter of weSpark Cancer Support Center, but contributed to numerous other non-profits and causes. He also volunteered with Project Angel Food.

Death Edit

Geffen died of a suspected drug overdose on August 22, 2018.[12] He was 40.
