Mexican Cartel Denies Involvement in Grenade Attack on U.S. Consulate

One of Mexico’s most powerful cartels placed nearly a dozen banners throughout the capital of Guadalajara to distance themselves from a recent grenade attack at the U.S. Consulate in that city.

Suspected members of Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) hung close to a dozen banners throughout the Guadalajara metro area. The CJNG claimed the recent grenade attack at the U.S. Consulate was an effort “to soil” their image. The banners claim that the Mexican government knew who really was behind the attack.

The CJNG is one of Mexico’s most powerful cartels that began as an offshoot of the Sinaloa Cartel. As Breitbart News reported, CJNG became a security concern within the Mexican law enforcement intelligence communities for their use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Breitbart News was the first outlet to report on a weekend attack where unknown gunmen lobbed two grenades into the U.S. consular complex with at least one exploding. Initially, Mexican authorities dismissed the attack by claiming that they responded to a man using fireworks in the vicinity. Soon after, they were forced to confirm that the sound was the result of a grenade blast.

Feds received whistleblower evidence in 2017 alleging Clinton Foundation wrongdoing

When a House subcommittee chairman bangs his gavel next week to convene an unprecedented investigative hearing into the Clinton Foundation, two questions will linger as pre-eminent: Is the Clinton family charity really the international do-gooder that earned a perfect four-star rating from Charity Navigator, or does it suffer from corruption and illegalities as conservatives allege? And if it is the latter, how much evidence of wrongdoing does the government possess?

The answer to the first question is that the foundation and its projects reported collecting about $2.5 billion to help global crises, from AIDS to earthquakes, even as its own auditors, lawyers and employees privately warned of problems over the years.

The answer to the second question may reside in 6,000 pages of evidence attached to a whistleblower submission filed secretly more than a year ago with the IRS and FBI.

That evidence was assembled by a private firm called MDA Analytics LLC, run by accomplished ex-federal criminal investigators, who alleged the Clinton Foundation engaged in illegal activities and may be liable for millions of dollars in delinquent taxes and penalties.

Pentagon Aims to Train Up to 40,000 Local Stabilization Troops in Syria

US and allied forces in eastern Syria need to complete training between 35,000 to 40,000 local troops to establish stability in eastern Syria following the defeat and expulsion of the Daesh terror group in those areas, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Joseph Dunford said.

"We estimate about 35,000 to 40,000 local forces have to be trained and equipped in order to provide stability," Dunford said at a Washington Post event on Thursday. "We are probably somewhere along the line of 20 percent through the training of those forces."

Dunford explained that the stabilization process would need to continue for an indefinite period of time in eastern Syria.

"With regard to stabilization we still have a long way to go. We can say our presence in Syria right now is sustainable and can be adjusted based on conditions," he said.

Dunford gave no details of the number of US Special Operations Command troops that were currently operating in eastern, Syria, but he did say there were no plans to evacuate them.

When asked if the US forces in eastern Syria would be maintained in the region for the foreseeable future, Dunford replied, "No. That’s right… They're not leaving any time soon."

The training of local forces was necessary to re-establish effective local government and services in the region including sewage, law and order and electric power, Dunford said.
