That picture of the Clintons sitting together flying commercial was a clear signal. Neither were happy having that picture taken. The photographer was in their space and both of them would have been smiling back if this was just an enthusiastic supporter taking the pic. And why fly commercial with the common folk? This was a staged photo meant to send a signal.

 

Same as the pic of Dubya (his back, hunched over a half-dozen 'pizza' boxes) hand-delivering those boxes of pizza to that very large detail of SSAs. Very unflattering picture of a clearly subservient Bush. You could tell that they were his warders by the looks on their faces. Especially the Woman, far right. And 'Baldy' who sat behind Bush at Poppy's 'funeral'. Can some kind and computer savvy anon post these two pics side-by-side? ThQs

Dear Q: OK, I'm convinced. That SNL skit feat. Trump and Daughter from 2015 have made me see that we're watching a movie.

 

The problem is, I feel weird about that, as if I'm just a spectator in life, or living in someone elses's dream, or something I can't quite put my finger on. Am I defective? Do I need to be eliminated?

 

I hope you can help me sort this out. Oh, and how long will we have to put up with the flat earthers and muhjooshills?

Missing monarch butterfly activist found dead in Mexico

 

Authorities have found the body of a missing farm leader who was active in protecting the wintering grounds of the monarch butterfly in Mexico, prosecutors said Wednesday.

 

Investigators in Michoacan state said the body had been identified as Homero Gómez González, who had not been seen since Jan. 14.

 

Last week, prosecutors called in 53 local police officers for questioning in the disappearance of Gómez González,who was head of the management council of the El Rosario butterfly reserve.

 

Officials did not give any information on the cause of death.

 

Activists said his death could be related to disputes over illegal logging, water or income from visitors’ fees. Authorities did not immediately speculate on a motive in the apparent killing.

 

Homero Aridjis, an environmentalist and poet who is a longtime defender of the butterfly reserve, called the death of Gómez “worrisome.”

 

“If they can kidnap and kill the people who work for the reserves, who is going to defend the environment in Mexico?” Aridjis said.

 

Gómez González was a former communal land officer who led efforts to preserve the pine and fir mountaintop forests where the butterflies spend the winter.

 

Millions of monarchs come to the forests of Michoacan and other areas after making the 3,400-mile (5,500-kilometer) migration from the United States and Canada. They need healthy tree cover to protect them from rain and cold weather.

 

Mexico has clamped down on illegal logging, which was once a major threat to the reserves but which has fallen to about one-third last year’s level. But there have been reports of increased “salvage” logging of supposedly sick trees.

 

Disputes over water from mountain springs have also occurred in the region, and avocado planters have long coveted the area, which has near-ideal growing conditions for the valuable fruit.

From my understanding, Jews don't require elaborate gassing processes to die, they can die from things like bullets. A lot of people died in WWII from bullets. Nazis killed a lot of people in WWIII with bullets and a lot of Nazis were killed by bullets. But apparently, the Jews weren't simply killed by bullets. There was some sort of complicated scheme that left a lot of Jews alive with numbers on their arm.

 

The Jews were sheltered in those camps, away from the bullets flying everywhere else, until the Nazie really started to lose the war, and conditions got shit in the camps and some Jews died from those shit conditions in the camps.

 

Most of what is said about camplife for Jews during WWII is ridiculous.

 

Jews like people to think that killing Jews was a goal of the Nazis in WWII, and that's just stupid. Would it take longer to tattoo a number on an arm or just boom from a gun? What was the point of a camp or a train to a camp? If the goal was to kill Jews, boom, as soon as possible. Anything else is just ridiculous.

 

No doubt camplife was shitty in 1944, and Jews died, but if your plan is to kill Jews you don't send a ton of soldiers to the USSR to kill them instead, if that was the plan, attacking everybody else was a huge huge distraction from the plan.

The fourth-quarter increase in real GDP reflected increases in consumer spending, government spending, housing investment, and exports which were partially offset by decreases in inventory investment and business investment. Imports, a subtraction in the calculation of GDP, decreased.

 

What is notable is that after surging in Q2 and Q3, personal consumption moderated sharply to 1.8% SAAR from 3.2% in Q3, missing expectations of 2.0% print, and contributing 1.20% to the GDP number from 2.12% last quarter, growing at the slowest pace in three quarters.

The Q4 breakdown was as follows:

 

-Personal consumption: 1.20%, down from 2.12%

-Fixed Investment: 0.01% up from -0.14%

-Private Inventories: -1.09%, down from -0.03%

-Exports: 0.17% up from 0.11%

-Imports: 1.32% up from -0.26%

-Government: 0.47%, up from 0.30%

 

The increase in consumer spending reflected increases in goods (led by clothing and footwear) and services (led by health care). The increase in government spending reflected increases in both federal and state and local government. The decrease in inventory investment reflected a decrease in retail trade inventories (led by motor vehicle dealers). The decrease in business investment reflected a decrease in structures (led by mining exploration, shafts and wells) and equipment (led by industrial equipment).

 

Government spending also gave GDP a boost, with gains in both federal and state and local outlays.

 

As noted above, the hail mary in this report was net trade which accounted for 1.49% of the 2.08% GDP number (of which imports were 1.32%), the most since 2009. The irony is that this was actually negative as trade collapsed mostly in the form of plunging imports. Such a "boost" via net exports is the flipside to trade war and/or weaker consumption-investment-inventory figures, because unless the plunge in imports (a boost to GDP) is a function of rising domestic production (hardly), they actually reflect weaker domestic demand. One bright spot was residential investment, which advanced at the fastest rate in two years, as builders picked up the pace of construction and prospective homebuyers benefited from low mortgage rates and a solid job market. Business investment in software was also solid.

 

Excluding trade, inventories and government, real sales to private domestic purchasers rose just 1.4%, the slowest pace since 2015, indicating weaker underlying growth.

 

Meanwhile, in good news for the market, the Fed's preferred inflation metric, PCE rose 1.3% Q/Q, dropping from 1.6% last quarter as prices of goods and services purchased by U.S. residents increased 1.5% in the fourth quarter after increasing 1.4% in the third quarter. Core PCE rose only 1.3% after increasing 1.8% in the third quarter, and missing expectations of a 1.6% increase.

I grew up in the era when you could trust school teachers and, in our small town, the police and the neighbors. You might get in trouble (as most of us boys sometimes did) but, unless you were a real screw-up, you wouldn't have a target on your back and you could usually work out your redemption with extra homework or mowing a few lawns. If you have not done so yet, I strongly urge you to read "Unrestricted Warfare" by Liang and Xiangsui, pub. by Echo Point Books & Media (echopoint.com) in both paperback and hardbound. It is a summary translation of a publication of China's People's Liberation Army, Beijing.

 

The first few pages are basically theoretical background to set the stage, but, by page 14, there is meat on every page.

 

I bought this book about a year ago based on a recommendation found here, but was immersed in a couple other books at the time. I'm glad I read 2 of them and stopped mid-way with the other three as not being worth my time – but they all could have waited.

 

Shortcut this book to the top of the stack because it puts this board into perspective and will make you more effective both here and IRL. Note 2.3 (page 191-2) is particularly worrisome.

Tesla’s profit was all about Tesla’s pollution credits, or “regulatory credits,” as it calls them. These are tax credits that Tesla gets from governments and sells to other companies. There is no cost associated with them; they’re booked as revenues and flow through to profit. Tesla reported this evening that these regulatory credits jumped 40% in Q4 compared to the same period a year earlier, to $133 million.

 

Despite the surge in regulatory credits, net income fell 25% to $105 million. Without those credits Tesla would have lost $28 million.

 

For the year 2019, Tesla reported a net loss of $862 million. This includes $594 million in regulatory credits. Without those credits, Tesla would have lost $1.5 billion. Tesla has been producing vast quantities of red ink since it started disclosing its financials in preparation for its IPO in 2010. From 2008 through 2019, Tesla lost money every single year with relentless insistence, and those net losses over those 12 years combined now amount to $6.7 billion:……

The Royal Air Force (RAF) ran a UFO unit for 50 years that took in public sighting reports but it was shut down in 2009 after it was determined none of the reports offered evidence of a real threat. The records from the unit were then given to the British National Archives where they were classified.

 

A spokesman for the RAF said that “it had been assessed that it would be better to publish these records, rather than continue sending documents to the National Archives, and so they are looking to put them on to a dedicated gov.uk web page.”

 

A clearance process for the documents is currently underway before publication, which is expected to take place “sometime within the first quarter of 2020,” according to the Telegraph.

 

“Given the massive public interest in this subject, I’m pleased that these files will be released and made available online,” said Nick Pope, who used to investigate UFO sightings for the country’s Ministry of Defense (MoD).

 

In June 2013, the MoD previously reported it was releasing the final UFO files in the UK’s possession. However, we now know that’s not true thanks to a Freedom of Information Request by PA News.

 

In response to the FOI, the RAF described the files it held as “comprising entirely of correspondence with members of the public.”

 

“The MoD has no opinion on the existence or otherwise of extraterrestrial life and does not investigate UFO reports.”

 

While the attempts to hide the truth about the existence of UFOs is dying down, disclosure is ramping up. As TMU previously reported, U.S. Navy officials have acknowledged that video footage showing UFOs flying is real.

Another high-ranking official Major Donald Keyhoe alleged in an earlier 1958 interview that the Air Force was deliberately dismissing and covering up UFOs, confirming Hillenkoetter and Hynek’s claims made years later. Major Keyhoe also exposes the CIA life that all of the UFO sightings were the agency when he says that “one pilot was killed in 48 chasing one.” He also said that if they don’t exist “why do they rush to these crash sites?” A report also exists stating that the Air Force was ordered to shoot down flying saucers in 1952.

“The complaint describes a web of corruption involving bribery, kickbacks, and side deals by one of San Francisco’s highest-ranking city employees,” Anderson said in a statement. “The public is entitled to honest work from public officials, free from manipulation for the official’s own personal benefit and profit.”

Ashley Biden organization received $166K federal grant while father was vice president

 

A Delaware nonprofit organization received a $166,000 federal grant about the same time it appointed then-Vice President Joe Biden’s daughter as executive director, according to government and tax records.

 

In September 2014, the Delaware Center for Justice was selected for a competitive two-year grant by the U.S. Department of Justice through the federal Edward Byrne Memorial grant program, which Biden helped steer significant funding to as vice president and senator.

 

His daughter, Ashley Biden, 38, had been associate director of the Delaware Center for Justice for about a year at the time. Two months after the grant selection, the nonprofit organization announced that she had been promoted to executive director.

 

Joe Biden was one of the top advocates for the Edward Byrne grant while in the Senate and helped steer $1.7 billion to the program as vice president. The grant, which was named in honor of a fallen New York City Police Department officer, typically supports efforts to strengthen local law enforcement. The program has also faced criticism from justice reform organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union, which claimed it perpetuated “racial disparities, police corruption, over-incarceration and civil rights abuses.”

 

The National Legal and Policy Center, a government watchdog group, said the timing raised questions about whether Biden’s position as vice president and as an advocate for the program had any influence on the selection process.

 

“The timing of the grant approval and his daughter's ascent to leadership in the organization that received it makes it necessary for the agencies involved to investigate whether Biden improperly used his influence to steer this grant to his daughter,” said Tom Anderson, director of the National Legal and Policy Center’s Government Integrity Project.

 

Delaware was one of three jurisdictions chosen to participate in the Edward Byrne grant’s newly created “Smart Pretrial Demonstration” initiative in September 2014. The program was intended to “improve the functioning of the criminal justice system, such as activities pertaining to crime prevention, control, or reduction, or the enforcement of the criminal law.”

 

Ashley Biden’s nonprofit organization “was selected to locally coordinate this two year grant” in Delaware, she wrote in the group’s 2015 annual report.

 

“The new Initiative will test the cost savings and public safety enhancements that can be achieved by improving pretrial policies and practices,” she wrote. “Specifically, the program will evaluate the impact of moving to a pretrial system that relies on risk assessment to inform pretrial release decision-making and demonstrates how risk management strategies can improve pretrial outcomes.”

 

The DOJ grant was a significant portion of the Delaware Center for Justice’s revenue, according to its annual reports. The prior year, the group brought in a total of $768,305 in revenue. That increased to $1,517,854, according to the 2015 report, due to an uptick in both government funding and foundation grants.

 

Ashley Biden’s salary also saw a bump in comparison with the prior executive director. The previous director, Joanna Champney, was paid $71,000 in 2013 and $69,000 in 2014, according to tax records. Ashley Biden’s starting salary was $82,000, although that also corresponded with stronger revenues for the organization.

 

Attempts to contact Ashley Biden were not successful, and the Biden campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

Operator of Standard Hotel in Los Angeles Charged in Dumping of Chemicals that Caused Illnesses in Subway

 

 

In an incident that raised fears of a terrorist attack, the operator of the Standard Hotel in downtown Los Angeles has been charged with violating federal environmental laws by causing the dumping of pool chemicals that led to a street closure and several people becoming ill.

 

A criminal complaint filed yesterday in United States District Court in Los Angeles charges the New York-based HotelsAB LLC, doing business as André Balazs Properties and Standard Hotels, with violating the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act by illegally disposing of corrosive hazardous waste. The complaint specifically alleges that employees of the Standard Hotel, which is located at 550 South Flower Street, dumped pool acid and chlorine into a storm drain. This mix of chemicals caused gases to form in the storm drain system, and some of those gases were released into a subway station at 7th and Figueroa in downtown Los Angeles.

 

When authorities responded to a subway station near 7th and Figueroa, they encountered a chemical smell and several victims, including a law enforcement officer, who were affected by the chemicals. The intersection of 6th and Flower was closed for several hours because of gas escaping from the storm drain system.

 

A criminal complaint contains allegations that a defendant has committed a crime. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Representatives of the Standard Hotel have been directed to appear on behalf of the defendant in federal court in Los Angeles on February 9.

 

The charge of illegally disposing of hazardous waste carries a statutory maximum fine of $500,000. Because the defendant is a corporate entity, the charge does not carry a potential prison term.

 

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Los Angeles City Fire Department, Hazardous Materials Unit.

US forces block another Russian military convoy in northeast Syria

 

BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:30 P.M.) – The U.S. military has blocked another Russian military convoy in northeastern Syria, a new report from the Al-Hasakah Governorate claimed on Thursday.

 

According to the report, the U.S. military halted the Russian military convoy as it was trying to bypass their checkpoint near the key town of Tal Tamr in the western countryside of the Al-Hasakah Governorate on Wednesday.

 

Despite the obstruction, the Russian military rerouted their convoy and made their way to Tal Tamr from another entrance.

 

The U.S. military has now blocked the Russian Armed Forces on at least nine occasions since the start of the new year, with most of these obstructions taking place along the International Highway (M-4) near Tal Tamr.

The Iranian court sentenced a 65-year-old Christian convert to three years in prison on January 11 for "insulting Islamic sacred beliefs," according to religious freedom watchdog group Article 18.

 

Ismaeil Maghrebinejad was arrested at his home last January after local authorities discovered he had forwarded a message on his phone that allegedly insulted Iranian religious leaders.

 

Maghrebinejad is currently being tried for two other charges: "propaganda against the Islamic Republic" and "membership of a group hostile to the regime."

 

An additional fourth charge was dropped last November, in which he was accused of apostasy after he converted to Christianity. According to Iranian law, this offense is punishable by death.
