WASHINGTON – Adrian L. Stargell, 39, a former Bureau of Prisons (BOP) corrections officer who worked as an education specialist at the FCI-Aliceville facility in Aliceville, Alabama, pleaded guilty today in federal court in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Stargell pleaded guilty to two counts of violating the rights of two women whom he sexually assaulted on multiple occasions and one count of making false statements to federal agents from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (OIG).

 

β€œThe Department of Justice will not tolerate prison officials who abuse their positions of power to sexually assault individuals in their custody,” said Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband. β€œThe Civil Rights Division will continue to vigorously prosecute these cases and secure justice for victims of these egregious crimes.”

 

β€œSexual assault is as despicable as it is illegal,” said U.S. Attorney Jay E. Town from the Northern District of Alabama. β€œWe will not tolerate this abhorrent behavior. Our resolve must instead be to bring the full weight of our system of justice to every predator among us.”

 

β€œStargell’s job was to help advance inmates’ rehabilitation through education,” said James F. Boyersmith, Special Agent in Charge of the OIG Miami Field Office. β€œInstead, he abused his power, sexually assaulted two inmates, and lied to try to cover up his actions. This kind of conduct will not be tolerated. Special Agents at the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General will continue to ensure that anyone who commits these kinds of despicable acts are brought to justice.”

 

According to court documents, during 2017 and 2018, while on-duty as an education specialist, Stargell sexually assaulted two different women who were incarcerated at FCI-Aliceville. Stargell admitted that he knew what he was doing was wrong and against the law, yet he did it anyway. When OIG agents interviewed Stargell about the allegations of sexual misconduct, Stargell lied by falsely denying having any sexual contact with the victims.

 

Stargell will be sentenced on Aug. 27, 2020.

Apologies in advance, but readers who have never watched any Star Trek might find some of the analogies used today rather confusing: then again, the classic original series is out there on Netflix and we are all mostly locked-down, so…

 

Markets are currently accelerating in risk off mode, with USD reeling. Part of that is end-month positioning and momentum, but it’s happening even against traditionally wobbly FX like Indonesia’s IDR, and even when Indonesia is outright monetising public debt and running out of food staples in some areas. Like TV science-fiction, just press the buttons, go with the ride, and don’t ask too many questions(?)

 

The other major reason for the swing in sentiment is the Fed, which as Philip Marey notes, while making no major changes yesterday also underlined it is committed to using its full range of tools forcefully, proactively, and aggressively. Chair Powell said it may very well be the case that the economy needs more support from β€œall of us” (so monetary and fiscal policy). The engines are in in fine fettle, says Scotty.

 

Yes, there was the wrinkle that Powell also said that the law (Section 13-3 of the Federal Reserve Act) gives the Fed lending powers, not spending powers, so the Fed cannot lend to insolvent companies, and therefore the special lending facilities will remain (mostly) aimed at companies that can repay their loans. This suggests dangerous cracked dilithium crystals. Yet will the Fed really be asking too deeply if companies can pay their loans or not in a collapsing economy, or will it just use optimistic projections to assume that they will be able to? After all, that’s what the IMF does in many key cases, so it’s hardly changing the β€˜laws’ of market β€˜physics’.

 

And then there was virus news. First, Dr Fauci, the health expert who the world is listening to daily (the same Dr Fauci who in February said Covid-19 risks to the US were very low) announced that as far as he is concerned, the experimental new drug Remdesivir presents β€œquite good news” and could get emergency FDA approval in days. This is the same drug a Lancet report says failed recently in another location.

 

Then President Trump announced β€œOperation Warp Speed”. No, this is not related to Spaaaaace Foooorce (which I politely remind readers must only be said into one’s cupped hand). Rather we will see a Manhattan Project-style US effort to develop a vaccine at the fastest possible pace, uniting pharma companies, government agencies, and the military. Together this will see multiple vaccines developed at once, with the least successful dropped at each stage. Risk will be underwritten by the government not the companies to encourage them to go all in. The aim? To have 100 million doses of virus vaccine ready by year-end.

 

This is undoubtedly positive given the clear logic that until we get a vaccine we cannot emerge from this crisis. Markets are right to see it as great that the US is pushing ahead with the kind of war-time all-of-government approach that so far has only been hinted at via limited flirtation with the Defence Production Act. We need the president to play Captain Kirk and shout β€œWarp speed!” (or Jean-Luc Picard and say β€œMake it so.” – but the questionable hair and hammy acting says Kirk to me). It’s certainly far preferable to the President acting like Harry Mudd and dragging us into the mud of who said what about ingesting disinfectant and why. However, two major caveats:

 

One - this still does not mean Operation Warp Speed is going to work. The more money thrown at a problem does not always mean the quicker a solution is found, if at all. That said, what I hear from scientists–who traditionally live on crumbs as the money usually flows into tech companies designed to destroy employment and wages while losing money–is that we can at least now give it a real try. Yet in the interim the economic damage continues to pile up.

 

Two - is it a coincidence that the good virus news from the White House came at the same time as Q1 US GDP was -4.8% q/q annualised, even weaker than the -4.0% expected? Indeed, given January, February, and parts of March were business as usual in much of the US, one can now start to project how horrendous Q2 damage is going to be. Let’s just say that the risks are the Fed will have to make some true science-fiction forecasts to keep lending to only solvent companies. Notably, despite the surge in stocks and sell-off in USD, 10-year US Treasury yields are not even moving on impulse engines, let alone warp speed.

POTUS asked the civilian population to self quarantine for 15 days at first.

Soon as he did that and the 15 days passed who was it still screaming to keep lock-downs in place….mainly NYC and other democrat governors, after all, THEY were the ones screaming the loudest, so he played along…more or less give them more rope to hang themselves with.

POTUS mentioned in one of his pressers that he was leaving it up to the governors to decide because each location was different and could be handled differently. In short, he let the governors do what they thought, (and I say thought because there were some that did do what was right and fair), what was right according to their own mind. Thing is, those governors didn't count on the people to stand up when they pushed to far.

 

Trap sprung!

NOW POTUS knows which governors to trust, and which ones to round up.

Eurostat: Roughly 300,000 migrants granted asylum in EU in 2019

 

Figures from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, have revealed that roughly 300,000 migrants were granted asylum in the European Union in 2019, a figure that’s down six percent from the previous year.

 

In its report that was published earlier this week, Eurostat noted that the 27 member states of the European Union granted the asylum requests of 295,800 migrants.

 

The largest group of asylum beneficiaries in the EU in 2019 remained the Syrians (26 percent of the total number). Of the 78,600 Syrians that were granted asylum, 71 percent received it in Germany. The second-largest group of asylum beneficiaries were Afghan nationals (14 percent), followed by Venezuelans (13 percent). The number of Venezuelans granted asylum in 2019 increased by nearly 4,000 percent compared to the previous year, according to Eurostat.

 

Iraqis comprised seven percent of the the total number of accepted asylum seekers, while those coming from Turkey, Nigerian, Somalia, Iran, and Eritrea made up three percent of the total number asylum beneficiaries. Two percent came from Pakistan.

 

Of the nearly 300,000 migrants who were granted some form of asylum in 2019 by the European Union, 141,00 were granted refugee status, 82,100 were granted subsidiary protection, and 72,700 were granted protection for humanitarian reasons.

 

More than three quarters of the positive asylum decisions made by political bloc came from Germany, France, Spain, and Italy.

 

Luxembourg, Germany, the UK, Greece, and Austria were the states most likely to grant some form of asylum to migrants seeking it.

UK spy agency handed extra powers to access info from NHS IT systems during Covid-19 pandemic

 

Health Secretary Matt Hancock has bypassed parliamentary scrutiny and given new powers to the UK security and intelligence organization, GCHQ, to allow it to obtain information from public-health IT systems until the end of 2020.

 

The National Health Service (NHS) has been instructed by Hancock to hand over information to Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), granting the spy agency powers it did not have previously, under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

 

Officials have justified the decision, saying it was taken to bolster the NHS’s cyber defenses. It ostensibly means that GCHQ now has powers to order the NHS to disclose any information concerning β€œthe security” of its networks and information systems.

 

The latest development, authorized by Hancock’s department earlier this month, is the latest sign of GCHQ gaining more influence during the Covid-19 crisis. The agency is already advising NHSX, the unit driving the digital transformation of the public healthcare system, on the creation of its new coronavirus contact-tracing app.

 

A spokesman for the National Cyber Security Centre, a subsidiary of GCHQ, insisted that the new directions β€œdo not seek to authorize” access to patient data. Whether that will ease the worries of those concerned about the apparent increase in the UK government’s surveillance measures is debatable.

 

Earlier this week, a spokesman for British PM Boris Johnson confirmed that the controversial NHS contact-tracing app will be a β€œkey part” of the government’s Covid-19 surveillance program going forward.

 

The app, which has been designed to notify people if they were in close contact with a person who tested positive for the coronavirus, could be available within weeks. However, privacy campaigners have warned it could see the public β€œcoerced” into sharing personal data about their movements.

Court Brief: 11.6K Dead People on Virginia’s Voter Rolls

 

About 11,600 dead people remain on the state of Virginia’s voter rolls, according to a court brief filed in United States District Court.

 

A court brief filed by the Public Legal Interest Foundation (PILF) alleges grave issues with Virginia’s voter rolls just as a lawsuit in the state seeks to strip witness requirements on mail-in ballots in the midst of the Chinese coronavirus crisis.

 

According to PILF, there are about 11,600 dead people on Virginia’s voter rolls β€” all of whom would receive mail-in ballots if an election were held by mail. These nearly 12,000 dead voters have corresponding published obituaries.

 

Another 1,772 registered voters have commercial addresses listed as their primary residence and nearly 600 voters have been flagged as having duplicated registrations.

 

On Wednesday, the court accepted PILF’s brief.

 

As Breitbart News wrote this month, PILF research shows that 28.4 million mail-in ballots have gone missing in the last four election cycles dating back to 2012. In the 2016 and 2018 elections, a total of about 16.4 million mail-in ballots went missing.

 

Currently, elected Democrats are lobbying for nationwide mail-in voting for the November presidential election β€” a move that would potentially deliver ballots to an estimated 24 million ineligible voters. The plan is being bankrolled by organizations funded by billionaire George Soros.

 

The brief is related to an ongoing lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia. The case number is 6:20-cv-00024.

Mexico's Convenience Stores Are Almost Out of Beer

 

Fomento Economico Mexicano SAB, which operates Latin America’s largest chain of convenience stores, said its Oxxo stores in Mexico are quickly running out of beer after the government shuttered breweries as non-essential businesses last month.

 

The company, known as Femsa, told analysts in a conference call on Thursday that it was unclear when Mexican breweries run by Anheuser-Bush InBev’s Grupo Modelo and Heineken NV would be able to start operating again.

 

β€œIf and when we run out of beer, which could happen in the next couple of weeks, that would be negative for sales,” Juan Fonseca, Femsa’s head of investor relations, said on a conference call with analysts. β€œI don’t want people to get off the call and run to the store, but right now we are probably looking at about 10 days of inventory.”

 

Femsa CEO Eduardo Padilla said that running breweries doesn’t represent a significant health risk and he hoped they would find a way to start operations soon. However, he said beer’s role as a β€œsocial lubricant” could be seen getting in the way of the government’s call to stay at home.

 

β€œI think the government might be afraid if they drink beer, there will be more social interaction,” Padilla said in the call with analysts.

 

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador declared a national health emergency at the end of March and called for a halt to non-essential activities that included most manufacturing. Mexico’s shutdown is causing supply-chain disruptions for U.S. factories that continue to run.

 

Cuauhtemoc Rivera, head of small merchants’ association Anpec, said that beer prices had risen 30% at family-run shops known as changarros, daily El Universal reported. Beer companies have lobbied the government to restart and have stressed the dependence of small stores on beer sales.

 

β€œWhat really concerns me more is that there are a lot of changarros in Mexico that live by selling beer, and I think the changarros are being hit dramatically,” Femsa’s Padilla said.

 

Constellation Brands Inc., which makes Corona and Modelo beer for export to the U.S., has continued some manufacturing in Mexico, Barclays analyst Lauren Lieberman said in an April 29 note. She estimated Constellation β€œhas ample supply to meet demand through the end of October.”

The UN and its subsidiary agencies, which are funded for this sort of activism through large fees and voluntary contributions from member countries β€” countries like the United States and the United Kingdom, disproportionately.

 

Like the activists and politicians pushing for the release of illegal aliens and prisoners, however, the global bureaucracy has failed to explain why it is better, in terms of controlling the coronavirus, to release criminals and migrants into the general population rather than keep them in detention β€” where they will be less likely to infect each other, but more likely to infect the public at large.

 

The UN’s remark in its press release that it β€œreminds States of their commitment in the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration to prioritize alternatives to immigration detention, using detention as a measure of last resort only and working towards ending child immigration detention” may also raise eyebrows, given many governments refused to sign it.

 

These included the Trump administration in the United States, the government of Australia, and many populist or populist-influenced governments in countries like Austria, Hungary, and Poland, which believed the β€œlegal framework” provided by the supposedly β€œnon-binding” pact would result in activists using lawfare and other mechanisms to enforce open borders policies by the back door.

British doctors have warned that 250 ventilators bought from China could cause β€œsignificant patient harm, including death” if there are used on Chinese coronavirus suffers in hospitals in the United Kingdom.

 

Senior doctors from a National Health Service (NHS) regional trust in Birmingham said that the build of the Shangrila 510 model ventilators, made by Beijing Aeonmed Co Ltd, was β€œbasic” and that the oxygen supply was β€œvariable and unreliable”.

 

It was also the wrong type as it was designed for ambulances, meaning medics had to set up make-shift stands for the mobile devices to place next to hospital beds. The cloth casing is also said to be difficult to clean, causing hygiene concerns in the high-infection environment, according to the letter seen by American network NBC News and published on Thursday.

 

β€œWe believe that if used, significant patient harm, including death, is likely,” the letter said, continuing: β€œWe look forward to the withdrawal and replacement of these ventilators with devices better able to provide intensive care ventilation for our patients.”

 

The letter was dated April 13th and penned by a doctor from Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust on behalf of other medics working in the region and sent to a senior NHS official. It was written eight days after senior Cabinet minister Michael Gove thanked the communist Chinese government for helping them secure an order of 300 ventilators.

'Within cities we need to focus on those who need help the most, the poor and the vulnerable have been very seriously affected,' said Sameh Wahba, a global director for the World Bank.

 

Our estimate is that there will be possibly upward of a 100 million so-called "new poor" on account of loses of jobs and livelihoods and income,' Wahba told reporters.

 

Many cities lack accurate data about slum areas, making it difficult to know where investments should be targeted, experts say.

 

A World Bank mapping tool using satellite imagery is helping cities find areas where people use communal toilets or where social distancing is impractical, Wahba said.

Outrageous 'Don't Defend Trump' Memo Uncovered, Was Written by Top Republican Strategist

 

The National Republican Senatorial Committee has sent out a 57-page memo advising GOP candidates how to address the coronavirus crisis during the 2020 campaign, Politico reported Friday.

 

The linchpin of the ludicrous strategy put forth in the document is to avoid mentioning President Donald Trump’s role during the national emergency.

 

The political consulting firm O’Donnell & Associates, headed by Brett O’Donnell, authored the memo. O’Donnell, described by Politico as a β€œtop Republican strategist,” has advised numerous candidates, including failed GOP presidential nominees Mitt Romney and John McCain.

 

The memo recommends that Senate candidates focus on bashing China as the COVID-19 culprit rather than defending the impressive leadership of Trump during one of the worst calamities in American history.

 

In essence, the document advises Republican Senate candidates to distance themselves from Trump.

 

β€œDon’t defend Trump, other than the China Travel Ban β€” attack China,” the April 17 memo says.

Candidates are encouraged to declare how they will be tough on China and contrast that with Democrats, who should be presented as too soft.

 

β€œChina caused this pandemic by covering it up, lying, and hoarding the world’s supply of medical equipment,” the memo says, spurring candidates to keep the blame for the pandemic squarely on the Chinese Communist Party.

The document offers a summary of how candidates should portray their plans if elected: β€œI will stand up to China, bring our jobs back home, and push for sanctions on the Chinese Communist Party.”

No coronavirus jab will be ready to manufacture on a mass scale until late next year, the boss of the world's largest vaccine maker today warned.

Emma Walmsley, chief executive of GlaxoSmithKline, said millions of doses would not be produced until the second half of 2021, 'if things go right'.

 

In another promising development, major drug giant Pfizer today announced it may have a coronavirus vaccine ready by the autumn.

The US-based company has already started mass manufacturing doses and is aiming to have 'hundred of millions of doses' ready by the end of the year.

 

Developing vaccinations usually takes many months or years but researchers are hurtling towards human trials.

 

They say the process has been made easier because the virus, scientifically known as SARS-CoV-2, is not mutating and is similar to other viruses seen in the past.

 

University of Oxford scientists are also confident they can get their jab for the incurable virus rolled out for millions to use by autumn.

 

Ms Walmsley discussed the potential of a coronavirus jab being manufactured for the masses in a media briefing after the release of GSK's first-quarter results.

 

She said: 'If things go right… to get to scale of manufacturing in the hundreds of millions (of doses) is going to be in the second half of next year.'

 

It requires swift progress in global development efforts to show an experimental vaccine is safe, effective and dosed in the right way, she added.

Ms Walmsley said: 'An 18-month time line was an ambitious one to be going after but one that everyone is [targeting].'

 

As many as 100 potential COVID-19 candidate vaccines are now under development by biotech and research teams around the world.

And at least five of these, including one developed by Oxford University experts, are in preliminary testing in people in what are known as Phase 1 clinical trials.

 

GSK and rival vaccine maker Sanofi this month teamed up for a coronavirus vaccine project.

It is the latest in a string of alliances that have seen the Brentford-based drug maker contributing its expertise on adjuvants.

These are notes prepared before the Flynn meeting at the WH. As they’re dated 1/24/2017, they’re likely notes prepared in connection with a morning, pre-interview internal FBI meeting. The notes might have been commenced the previous day. Likely present at that internal meeting would be one or both of the agents scheduled to interview Flynn (Strzok and Pientka) + some FBI legal executive. The notes read to me like those of a lawyer. If there was a lawyer present at the planning meeting - and that has to be probable given the subject matter - Lisa Page would certainly be a candidate for that person.

 

So these might indeed be notes written by a woman. But not Yates.

Under cover of Corona, the sewage of the DC septic tank flows on. The latest revelations in the Deep State entrapment of Michael Flynn (Trump's first National Security Advisor, for about twenty minutes) confirm what most sentient creatures have known for three years - that there was never any good-faith basis for the FBI's investigation, only (in the now released words of Assistant Counterintelligence Division Director Bill Priestap) the object "to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired".

 

The official pretext was that there might have been "a violation of the Logan Act". Oooooooh! The Logan Act of 1799 refers to a Dr George Logan, physician, farmer and Pennsylvania state legislator, who, at a time of tension in Franco-American relations, engaged in his own negotiations with the government in Paris. In the two and a quarter centuries since, there have been no convictions under the Act, and, in the event anyone were ever to be the first so convicted, it would undoubtedly be struck down as unconstitutional. John Kerry, one notes, has not been prosecuted for his recent meetings with his pal Zarif, "foreign minister" of Iran, about how to save Obama's deal with the mullahs.

 

In the case of Flynn, any hypothetical Logan prosecution would have been more ridiculous still - because he was not a freelance Pennsylvania doctor but the duly designated National Security Advisor of the incoming president. Peter Strzok went over to Flynn's office to (as they say of bent British coppers) fit him up - and indeed they did fit him up.

 

So one conversation, with disgraced corrupt rogue agent Strzok, without counsel present and without the defendant being aware that this was an interrogation of him as opposed to just a friendly intragovernmental chit-chat, has consumed three years of Flynn's life and all his savings.

 

I heard Kellyanne Conway being asked this morning about whether Trump should now pardon Flynn. No. It is for the court, as an act of judicial hygiene, to accept Flynn's withdrawal of his enforced guilty plea (made under threats by the feds to destroy the lives of various family members, too), quash the conviction as a miscarriage of justice, and invite the defense to lay before His Honor a wrongful prosecution suit.

 

If it requires a presidential pardon to bring garbage like this to an end, then we are all in trouble. Because if the Deep Staters can do it to Flynn, they can do it to anyone. It behooves Judge Emmett Sullivan to rule upon what has been a fraud upon the court from day one - and a fraud upon his court specifically: the documents made public this week were ordered to be handed over to Flynn's lawyers two years ago (February 2018) but were in fact only coughed up now because Jeff Jensen, a federal prosecutor in St Louis appointed by Attorney-General Bill Barr to look into the DoJ's conduct of the Flynn case, recently stumbled across them. A system in which prosecutorial misconduct requires a presidential pardon to undo it is not merely absurd but wicked: justice requires that Judge Sullivan extinguish the state's assault upon his own courthouse.

 

Oh, but the Comey-Mueller crowd will protest, Flynn confessed to the crime!

 

Well, sorta: He was prevailed upon to (in the sleazy euphemism) "settle". I hate settling - because, in the civil courts, it incentivizes the use of litigation as a form of blackmail; and, in the criminal courts, it leads to what happened in the Flynn case: a man confessing to a crime he does not honestly believe he has committed.

It’s an FBI employee. The notes reference the DOJ as though a separate entity from that of the writer: DOJ is β€œthem”. Sally Yates was DOJ. The writer cannot be SY.

 

These are notes prepared before the Flynn meeting at the WH. As they’re dated 1/24/2017, they’re likely notes prepared in connection with a morning, pre-interview internal FBI meeting. The notes might have been commenced the previous day. Likely present at that internal meeting would be one or both of the agents scheduled to interview Flynn (Strzok and Pientka) + some FBI legal executive. The notes read to me like those of a lawyer. If there was a lawyer present at the planning meeting - and that has to be probable given the subject matter - Lisa Page might be a candidate for that person, but so would Priestap.

 

So these might be notes written by a woman (although I don’t consider the handwriting particularly suggestive of that conclusion). But not Yates.

There is no legal obstacle to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu forming and leading the next government despite the criminal charges against him, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit wrote Thursday in an opinion submitted to the High Court of Justice.

 

The opinion was a response to a petition filed to the High Court that will be heard Sunday in front of an expanded panel of 11 judges.

 

β€œDespite the significant difficulties that arise in this matter, they do not constitute grounds for judicial intervention,” Mandelblit wrote with regard to the bribery, fraud and breach of trust charges that he himself in January filed against Netanyahu in three cases.

 

β€œAll this, without detracting from the severity of the indictment filed against Netanyahu, and without undermining the consistent judgment of the honorable court regarding the need for strict adherence to incorruptibility among elected officials,” he added.

 

β€œThe fact that the legislature did not make an explicit provision regarding the situation in which an indictment is filed against a prime minister indicates a conscious choice that a prime minister may continue to hold office up until his conviction by a final verdict with regard to an offense where there is moral turpitude,” Mandelblit continued.

 

Under the terms of the coalition deal between Netanyahu’s Likud and the Blue and White party, if the court disqualifies Netanyahu as prime minister in the first six months of the new coalition’s lifespan, there will be new elections.

Pelosi floats almost $1T for states in next relief package

 

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that Democrats will push for including almost $1 trillion in the next coronavirus relief package to help states and local governments hit hard by the pandemic.

 

That figure, Pelosi said, would likely be the single largest line-item of the Democrats' next emergency package, known as CARES 2, which is also expected to include hundreds of billions of dollars more to help workers, businesses and families weather the crisis.

 

"We're not going to be able to cover all of it, but to the extent that we can keep the states and localities sustainable, that's our goal," Pelosi told reporters in the basement of the near-deserted Capitol.

 

It means the Democrats' next emergency relief proposal is likely to approximate the massive size of the initial CARES Act, adopted March 27, which provided $2.2 trillion in emergency help largely for major industries and small businesses left devastated by the economic fallout of the global pandemic.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has said he'd prefer to see the states declare bankruptcy than grant them more federal help.

 

Senate Republicans, he warned last week, won't support "revenue replacement for state governments" or "solving their pension problems."

 

McConnell's critics have been quick to point out that Kentucky, where the Senate leader is seeking reelection this year, receives many billions of dollars more from Washington than its residents pay in federal taxes.

 

And Pelosi on Thursday dismissed McConnell's opposition, saying Democrats are prepared to go to the mat to ensure that medical workers and other first responders are not laid off as a result of the economic crunch facing states around the country, which have seen tax revenues plummet amid the crisis.

 

"They're risking their lives to save lives, and now they're going to lose their jobs? It's just stunning, and we have to address it," Pelosi said. "This isn't about any other budget issues for states; it's about the coronavirus outlays [and] revenue lost."

Looking at the satellite map on gogle, the turns appear to coincide with distinct features. 6 wood loop the Horsham airport, 5 loops the Pensauken landfill & Haddon neighborhood with dintict highway features. 4 loops inside Interstate 476 along the wooded greenbelt. All good visual reference for the jet pilots. The crossover point in Philadelphia appears to be near the St Christopher's Hospital for Children and nearby Temple University Hospital.

 

Would summise they selected a specific cross over point and determined good reference points from there. Would be intersting to see what hospitals lie near the flight path.

β€œPresident Trump is committed to ensuring Paycheck Protection Program money is used for saving jobs at small businesses, not getting the government into the business of funding abortion,” a senior administration official told The Daily Signal.

 

β€œWhile not all Americans share President Trump’s pro-life beliefs, there is broad bipartisan support for the idea that American taxpayers should not have to fund abortion,” the official said Wednesday night.

 

The Paycheck Protection Program, designed to shore up small businesses that had to close or otherwise were affected by the coronavirus pandemic, allows businesses with fewer than 500 employees to be forgiven for the principal of a government loan if they don’t lay off their employees. The employers still have to pay the interest on the loans, overseen by the Small Business Administration.

 

The program’s initial $350 billion fund, established in legislation passed March 30 by the House, was depleted April 16. The program received $320 billion in new funding in a bill passed Thursday by the House and signed into law Friday by Trump.

 

The senior administration official told The Daily Signal that the Small Business Association’s mission already excludes big enterprises such as Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.
